This is a list of my colonies, territories, protectorates and such. Before I start listing them, the Status field indicates what it is. Feel free to use this own system for yourself. Here is a short definition of each:
Sovereign - The colonizing, protecting and owning state. Those who are born in the Sovereign are 1st class citizens.
Colony - An territory under the direct control of the Sovereign. Citizens of the sovereign are to settle in the area. Natives and second+ generation settlers have 2nd class citizenship. It has its own government, modelled after that of the Sovereign. Usually the native tongue is suppressed.
Protectorate - Foreign policy and defense are controlled by Uiri. Sole purpose is for business and exploitation of natural resources. Natives and those born of people who do not possess citizenship of the Sovereign or possess citizenship which is of the 3rd, 4th or 5th grade possess 3rd class citizenship. Those born of people with 2nd class citizenship are possess 2nd class citizenship, those born of people with 1st class citizenship possess 1st class citizenship. Higher class of citizenship overrules lower classes. Borders have higher than usual military activity. Predominant native tongue is usually co-official with the Sovereign's official language.
Organized Territory - Usually has an unhospitable enviroment. Primarily used for military training or secret government stuff. Sometimes it may have a good-sized settler population due to the fact that some may prefer extreme enviroments or are looking for a place where the market is dominated by small businesses. Wages are usually better than in the Sovereign if this is the case. Those born on the territory possess 4th class citizenship. Natives tongues are usually non-existant.
Unorganized Territory - The temporary stage between becoming an Organized Territory, Protectorate or Colony. Natives temporarily possess 5th class citizenship. Those unfourtunate enough to be born during this period also possess 5th class citizenship and cannot be upgraded.
