The Kyrios announced late Wednesday night the first of a series of predicted Five Year Plans meant to accomplish long-term goals for Kargucagstan in much less time than projected. Plan 1, as it has been called, has the stated goal of transforming the economy of the state from a largely farm-based one to a more industrialized manufacturing market. “We are entering a new time for Kargucagstan,” said Kyrios Michael Allen Delphi, speaking at a packed conference in his capital. “’Made in Kargucagstan’ will be the new label on all the products.”

While liberal critics of the Kyrios’ authoritarian regime were quick to decry this move to control the international production industry, supporters lauded it as a step towards cheaper prices and abundant supply of many different products. Many on both sides of the issue suspect that it is no coincidence that the economic shift comes at a time of great tension in the world, as the Alliance for the Preservation Of Civilization (APOC) and the New Alliance Treaty Organization (NATO) prepare to wage total war. Exact details of Plan 1 were released in a series of official documents immediately following the press release:

The tax rate for foreign companies looking to set up factories in Kargucagstan will be reduced to the single digits or even abolished all together, depending on the scale of the investment. To balance this loss of income for the State, a footnote in one of the documents notes that the tariff on materials imported by these companies will be set at 110% or higher. Senior analysts predict that this will force companies to “buy local,” exploiting the natural resources of the area. This is predicted to bolster the Kyrios’ economy while still saving huge amounts of money for foreign corporations.

Additionally, preparations for rail connections with several neighboring nations are being made, with estimated construction time ranging from six months to a year and a half. A large-scale military build-up along the Kargucagstan / Krendakov border. Experts predict increasing tensions between the Nuclear Commonwealth and the United Socialist Republics over this move, but details remain sketchy. Reporters in Skaugra also suggest increased movement of the Kargucagstani Coast Guard in the area around the nearby inlet, perhaps in a move to prevent a blockade. What this all means for the stability of the region, economically or physically, remains to be seen

OOC: I want to become to manufacturing what Blackhelm is to oil. Essentially, if anyone wants to set up a factory in my nation, you will have IC justification to slash prices on whatever you want. This means, of course, that if your enemy can cut costs you must follow in close order. I'm also in Nukewealth, and we're neutral in this conflict, so feel safe. My coast guard, like I mentioned, has significant elements stationed around the mouth of the Candiro inlet thing so you don't have to worry about me being blockaded. I will not, however, be responsible for any actions taken against fleets past the mouth of that inlet. Escort your own goods, ladies and gentleman.

Kargucagstan is politically benevolent fascist, but economically I'm socialist. That only applies to native citizens, however, so foreign companies can do pretty much whatever they want. Environmental laws are lax and there is a large pool of skilled and unskilled socialist workers looking for capitalist wages.

As for the build up along the border, well, let's just say that will come into play real soon.
