OOC- As this is my first factbook, any imput would be nice. It is still a work in progress.
INTRODUCTION For centuries, the Imperium of Belkaros gained power and influence over their homeworld Terros, eventually becoming the only government on the planet. This success allowed for rapid colonization of space, drastically increasing the population. With only a few civil disputes blemishing their record, the Exoterran Imperium of Belkaros remains a model system for keeping peace within a new interplanetary government.

TERRITORY The Imperium is composed of three colonized planets, each either terraformed or in the process of being terraformed, fourteen space colonies, four asteroid fortresses, and seventeen mining colonies.

TECHNOLOGY Though it has mastered several renewable, high output energy sources, the Imperium is yet to master faster than light or remote warp travel, instead relying on spacefold transport gates to travel from one point in the Empire to another. Belkan nanotechnology has eliminated many medical ailments, and the average lifespan is 140 years, at which point vouluntary self termination is the most common form of death. In terms of infromation technology, the first AI computers are being developed and a wireless information network connects the entire Empire.

MILITARY Belkan Armed Forces make extensive use of Mobile Suit technology for military purpouses. These versitile vehicles form the backbone of the entire armed forces, as their ability to be customized makes them suitable for almost all combat situations. Belkan ships, vehicles, armored craft and infantry are used as compliments to support MS units and destroy targets too small or well hidden for a MS to destroy.

GOVERNMENT The Exoterran Imperium of Belkaros is controlled by two main bodies, the Imperial Senate which represents the people, and the Emperor, who has ultimate control. Each province of the Empire is ruled by a clone of the current Emperor, so division among provinces is rare. Emperors serve a seventy-five year term before they are retired and replaced with the new Emperor, a modified genetic copy of the previous Emperor. This lineage can be traced back to Emperor Gnaeus Mundus I, fourth ruler of the Imperium of Belkaros. This tradition has led to a rather boring collection of Imperial Portraits, and the face on the coinage has remained virtually unchanged for nearly four-hundred years.
