"Space is truly infinite; exploring these new territories is becoming a real bitch nowadays."

Probe 034 mused in its tiny case of metal and wires, scanning equipment and power plants. One of many within the Kelauan Dominion, which had been sent out to explore the vastness of the space around them, and to map them out for the navigators within the Kelauan Dominion. The Kelauans, with a mix of paranoid suspicion, and the former eagerness to explore the stars, sent out countless probes, their numbers in the thousands, to scour the galaxy and send back reports of anything they found. If they found anything out of the ordinary, they were to immediately send their data back so they could act upon it. However, for much of the space, as was the reality of things, they found nothing. There were a lot of beautiful sights to see, but when it took one weeks to scour a single system, one quickly got tired of it, and nothing grew tired of things quicker than a probe A.I.

Still grumbling, it activated it's Jump Drive, too small for anything but short jumps that forced the probe to be at the edge of a system to reach the next one. However, it also made this little thing incredibly fast. Before one could blink it was gone, and reappeared in another system. Setting aside its grumbling about the tediousness of his job, it sent out a beginning scan of the area. When the results came back, the probe's eyes would have bugged out, if it had any. It had detected another civilization! Finally, some reprieve from the boredom of empty space. However, this revelation was short-lived as a laser slammed into it and destroyed it instantly, without it being able to send back data. However, it did send a signal back to the nearest receiver, showing it had been destroyed.....

A month later...

Due to the extreme distance of the lost probe and where the Dominion was located, it had taken about a month for the Fang to reach the system. A small frigate (http://www.classic-space.com/plugins/autogallery/Gallery/BigShips/pleh.jpg) shot into view, coming out of Jump Space. Its Warcaptain, G'tan, sent orders for the scanners to look around and find out what was going on. And what had caused the destruction of their probe. He was on edge; normally, in these kinds of situations, some kind of hostile race came out and attacked them.....

The FNC Paralyzer ( Federation Navy Craft for your future reference ) detected another vessel within 300 light years of the border, FAR to close for comfort. Within seconds the large flat vessel jumped into SWarp and raised shields and powered weapons.

They opened a channel and hailed the small vessel...

" This is Captain Mike Richards of the Federation Navy, state your intentions in this area of our small universe or be destroyed! "

G'tan had not been caught off-guard. When they had detected a warp in space, they had raised shields and readied weapons. A ship came out and it was also armed and shielded. G'tan didn't like this; Dominion frigates, while maneuverable and strong in comparison to most, this ship was not exactly the same class as them. He didn't want to leave things to change. <"Hsara."> An A.I. flickered into view.

"Yes, sir. I have intercepted a transmission from them. Do you want a summary or the whole message."

<"Summary, please.">

"We are to identify ourselves or soon join the floating gas in the system."

G'tan sighed. <"Lovely. Send a neutral response and do what they say.">

"Aye, sir." A channel was soon opened and a reply sent.

"Greetings, Captain. I am Hsara, A.I. of the DNS Fang. We came in response to a probe of ours, sent out to explore space, suddenly vanished. Normally, that requires something of an external force to deal with, seeing as they have A.I. to drive them. From your response, I assume you are the ones who destroyed it. My Warcaptain would rather avoid a battle, if you don't mind."

Understood. Your probe was destoryed because it violated our territory limit. From the looks of your vessel you come from the Milky Way. A long way from home? What to explain to me why your out this far? You over 9 billion LY from home

"As I explained before, you destroyed our probe and we wanted to know why. As for the probe being here, we're curious about the space we live in, so we sent probes out to explore. Find trade routes, new planets, that sort of thing."

In answer to the question, another voice came on. A deeper and raspier one. <"Duty is everything. It is the thing that drives us, that moves us to do what we need to. It is the thing which protects our people, defeats our enemies, and brings about peace. Ensures our survival and that of our species. Duty is something precious and an ideal all should strive for. Duty is life, especially for the Kelauan. What is duty to you?>

The Captain smiled. And sent Another message, this time over a visual Channel.

I could have never said it better myself. Correct on ALL counts. Duty is LIFE. Duty provides order. Duty provides pleasure, fun, order, and LIFE. Welcome to the East Coast Federation. How may I serve you?

My A.I., Hsara, is filing the report now. However, I was given the power to negotiate with foreign powers, and seeing how similar we are, what do you say we negotiate opening relations between our nations? Ahh, we can make it to the MW in 1 week. We do, very much. You know, I think you should follow us to our Capital to discuss this in further. And I would love to show you what our great Empire has to offer. If you would please drop all weapons and shielding, and Follow me, that would be great!

G'tan raised an eyebrow at this. What kind of drives did they use that moved that fast. It was quite strange to him. Hsara flickered next to him and nodded, showing that she was done with the report. He listened to the reply and brightened. He was on his way to meet with this government and opening ties, and with a people similar to them. He was glad he got lucky; after all, he could have encountered a democratic society and that would have tried his patience to no end.

Follow. Do not worry no one has any plans to shoot you. There is no honor in killing one who is alone and who may be considered a ally one day. We'll keep speed down to Warp Factor 3

Along the way they would see literally 100's of defense stations. As well as ships ranging from 100 meters to several miles long. Dozens of shipyards and planets.....an hour later they arrived at the Homeworld. The shipyards could be seen building new warships. Add thousands of small ships going between the 7 inhabited systems in the planets, it was a huge and amazing sight. Every planet was earth like, clean, free of dirt and garbage.

It seems we are here....whoa! I didnt think it was in orbit today. Well the FNC Challenger is in orbit. She is the pride and joy of the 5th battle group. Dual emitter plates as all of our ships have. 3 Kilometers long, Biological computers. Class 5 shielding, everything you could want, she is the perfect killing machine. But anyway. I shall contact our government soon. Should you have any questions ask now!

G'tan replied that he was fine with the speed, though he didn't know what he was, and waited as they traveled into their nation. He could see they were well-defended, with plenty of ships and defense stations. Their ships were rather uniform, looking the same. Flat ships that looked weak, but appearances could be deceiving. They came to the shipyards and saw ships being constructed, showing an active economy. He listened when the captain mentioned the other ship, and he gazed out at a large version of the other ships. When he mentioned he would contact his government soon and questions should be asked now, he merely replied.

Hello. This is Admiral Willing, leader of the ECF. We are awaiting your arrival. We are also eager to learn more about you. If you wish to come down, feel free. Here is our location. You may either beam down or send a ship down, which will be escorted. The message we are sending contains basic information about our people.

Transmission: Our Nation has been in place for over 3000 years as of this day. Our nation consists of 1900LY of territory. Very heavily defended by stations you can see, and stations you cannot see. We have 28 systems that our fully occupied. And 130 more that are non populated. We like the idea of civil rights, but we also beleive that the military best decides what is good for the people. That system has worked for thousands of years and we have no plans to turn into a puny democracy. Military service is something everyone, Male or Female must complete, and they must complete 150 years of service before returning for schooling, or joining the workforce. Another note is that the gravity on our planet is rather strong ( think 3Gs )

We our a species with a very strong sense of honor and duty. We are also a long living species, with a natural lifespan of up to 980 years. We do not lie, cheat or steal. We make no war with another unless we are attacked. However, any attack on our people WILL be met with the deadliest force.

"<Thank you Admiral. I will be arriving soon in a shuttle."> G'tan nodded to Hsara, telling her to take command in his absence. He walked down to the hangar, where he was met by his personal squad of bodyguards, standard procedure in first contact situations. Entering the shuttle, they blasted out of the hangar and headed for the planet. They were swiftly escorted by the Federation down the planet, and as they descended, G'tan read the little report given to him by the Admiral. It amazed how how long they lived, how large their territory was, and yet...how alike they were to his race, whom had not even that much territory at their height, nor did they live as long. It was something he would have to show to the Research Department back home. He copied and saved the file into his personal holopad and waited for the ride to end.

Soon enough, they came to the landing pad and they landed, setting down the ramp. G'tan, dressed in his combat armor, which glowed from many panels beneath the armor from the reactor and the shield generators. He was followed by four helmeted soldiers. The Kelauans were rather tall, being in the 6 to 7 feet range, the Warbringers being the tallest, going up to 8 feet. He looked around, to see what the greeting party would be.

The president stood at the end of the arch waiting for the new delegates to arrive. Next to him stood 3 military officers, all covered in medals.

G'tan walked up, followed by his entourage, the the quiet thudding of their boots seeming out of place with their immense armor. He walked slowly, respectfully, fully in control of his movements. The movements of a warrior. He glanced at the saber arch as he came to it and he replied to their respect with one of his one. Reaching back, he took off a blade which stuck to his armor through a gravitic device and held it with both hands in front of his face, bowed his head and then sheathed it once more, the motion followed by his bodyguard. This was a sign of immense Kelauan respect, showing their blades for something other than war.

He came to the president, who greeted him in the name of the East Coast Federation. He then bowed low before coming up and answering."I thank you for welcoming me to your Federation. It is true that we appear to share the same ideals, something that is quite odd seeing as there is barely a hint of them in full back home, and with the nations we deal with on a daily basis. As for who I am, I am Warcaptain G'tan, master of the DNS frigate Fang. As for where to start, we can start however we like. Small talk, answering questions about my culture, or getting straight to the point of opening diplomatic relations. I am up for anything, having been given the power to negotiate till the end of time, if need be. But, you hold me at a disadvantage, Sir.....?"

The President took the rifle next to his hand and handed it to the captain.. " Take this. It is an R142 Rifle used in the 8th World War, it is over 4000 years old. Its not exactly un common but it is one of the most finely crafted projectile weapons you will ever find...Now if you would follow me... "

The President took the group through the great hall in the capital city. They passed finely crafted statues of former military heroes, star ships, even old naval sailing vessels all made from a solid block of rock. Flags, logos, huge organs filled the rooms. Naval officers in full dress uniforms were all over the place, going over plans, discussion future options. One of the higher officers flagged the president down and handed the president a PDA.

" The War Plans for the Beta Sector are complete, the Cutty empire has betrayed us for the last time, we will be ready to move by this time tomorrow. And Sir, I will make sure the Avenger leads that fleet. "

" Good Good, I am a little bit busy right now, We will be in the great hall if you have any future updates, See you there. "

They all met in the great hall. And the president had a seat.

So, I want you to start, ANYTHING you want.

G'tan took the weapon and bowed in gratitude. He would make sure to keep this in his office, especially if things went really well in this negotiation. He followed the president down the great hall, looking at all the statues of their heroes, ships, and other things. They were stopped for a short time by a military official, handing the president information about a war they were going to. His eyes narrowed slightly. He'd have to ask how they handled war, so they could see how they could be compatible in that sense.

When they reached a great table and sat down, G'tan motioned for his guard to do the same. As they sat, he heard him basically give him free reign to speak. He paused for a moment, and then decided to start with the question on his mind. <"Excuse me for being so blunt, Mr. Willing, but what exactly is your nation's policy on war? The Admiral hit a button on the table and a video began to play. It displayed a Mars like planet populated with people being bombarded by several large warships, they destroyed all the orbiting stations and ships, and left as soon as they came.

THAT, is the reason we are going to war, A small mining colony full of innocent non military personal was destroyed by the Cutty empire. We have been at peace with them for over 3000 years, but now; new government has overthrown the old one.

They are a democracy which is a form of government we do not believe it. HOWEVER, We have no quarrels with them. Until now.

This is what is going to happen. We will be sending a fleet of 300 capital ships to they're home system. And a number of things can happen, and this is what they are.

1: We will destroy the entire empire, planets, ships, people and all.
2. We will destroy the military and the people will either pledge they're loyal to the federation. Or be killed.

OR, We may simply destroy their military and install the old government back into power. We do good trade with them.

We take war VERY seriously good Sir, but we will only annihilate an entire people given a reason. Attacking a defenseless power and killing them all for no reason is honorless.

What about you?

This was an idea he had, and since he was given carte blanch by the Praetor, he decided to use it. <"Well, its both simple and complex at the same time. We are involved in an alliance, known as the Cyprian Circle. We trust it a lot, since it was made by our closest ally, the Authority. So we have allies, however, there is one in the Circle who we don't trust. The United Terran Federation, you may have heard of them. A democratic nation, who snoops in other peoples business and has been unstable in the past. The alliance works that if one of us is attacked, we all fight the one who attacked one of us. However, they are in another alliance, meaning they can get us to fight wars that do not concern us in the least, and its a democratic alliance to boot. Not to mention those fools have issued a declaration stating they can intervene wherever they want in their quadrant, which we are in. Hell, we border the fools!

We essentially have a problem, and we see a way to fix it. We trust our alliance, but we want a backup, in case it is compromised or forced into inaction. We'd like to consider an alliance with you, mutual defense, trade, the whole nine yards. We cover our back, you get access to our tech, trade, and can call us in to help defend you if needed. What do you say to that?">

The President Sighed deeply.." Are you kidding me? The UTF is still around? I thought those fools would have been taken care of by the GE at this point. You have our full support once we learn more about you. And as far as military goes, I think we can offer alot, if you'll allow us to beam up to the Type 9? I have something to show you. "

<"Unfortunately, they still are. And they have become our allies, against our will. The GE did do some damage, however. They destroyed their home world with the Death Star, but they managed to prevent their total destruction. As for learning about us, I am here and willing to explain anything you wish to know, to a point of course. And I do not doubt for a minute that your military has plenty to offer. As for this Type 9, you have my interest. Let's go see this Type 9.">

" Well, I am glad to hear that the GE is still around, one of the greatest empires of all time. And, it has alot to offer. I have every intention of showing the Cutty empire what they are dealing with, and show the new faction in control of the government that they must allow the government which has stood for over 1000 years back into power. The Democracy. I should mention, I don't completely think Democracy is a bad thing, its bad for anyone with a sense of duty, like us. Which is why we don't like it. But I suppose it works for some races. The weak kind, but anyway. Beam us up Avenger! "

The part was transported into the Avenger, a Flat Plate Type Modular Battleship nearly 7 miles long. Interior Temp was 51 Degrees F. It looked very interesting inside. Brushed stainless steel as walls, light bars on all sides. As the President led them to the bridge, they passed tacital displays, power read outs and many other system displays.

The Bridge was made of brushed stainless steel and all the consoles were transparent holograms, there were 8 bridge officers. All ready at they're stations.

" Admirals on the bridge! "

Bring Quantum Reactors to 80%. Bring shielding online. Charge emitter grids One and Two. Ready All systems. Set Course for the 9th Cutty outpost. Warp Factor 8.

Gentleman, I am about to show this new government who they're messing with. Be blowing up a couple D class planets in one of they're lower populated systems. Now, what is is this alliance with TFU that you speak of?

G'tan was calm as he was beamed up with his bodyguards and followed the Admiral to the bridge, looking at the sophisticated technology that was in this ship. They arrived on the bridge and he quickly set the ship on its way to dealing with those fools in the Cutty Empire. When asked about his nation's alliance with the Terrans, G'tan's voice curled up in annoyance. <"We are part of the Cyprian Circle, an alliance that is led by the Authority, a combined nationstate of Hyperspatial Travel and the Solarian Empire. The Realm of Hyperspatial Travel was our closest ally and we chose to remain allies even after their change. However, before we had access to the network established for it, the Terrans had entered and been accepted. We brought our concerns to our ally, and they told us at the first hint of trouble, they'd be gone. They were watching them as well. We refuse to forsake our friends merely because of these Terrans, but of course, if forced, we could not attack them due to being in our alliance. That is the situation of our 'alliance' with them.">

Ahh I see, it sounds like bullshit to me. And I dont mean your full of bullshit I mean that TFU is full of bullshit. They sound no different now then they did 400 years ago. I think its time to take a trip back to your territory after this little mess gets cleaned up. Target the M Class planet that is not inhabited, charge emitter grid 1 to 55% fire on my mark. Three...Two...One...Fire!

The Type 9s top emitter grid begun to glow a deep blue then several seconds later a huge focused beam of Q energy made its away towards the planet... which turned molten for several seconds, then exploded.

" Sir, 19 Vessels approaching, shields up and weapons charged. Reccomend we go to condition red! "

The ships all fired volleys of torpedoes and beam weapons at the plate ship.

" Sheilds down .03%! "

Bring us about, Red alert! Find a firing solution! All weapons fire! I want all of this ships disabled, NOW!

The huge flat ship went from 0-.30 C in a mere 3 and a half seconds and came around right through the enemy battle formation. It fired both emitter grids at once. 71 beams shot out of both emitter grids at the same time in rapid succession. Disabling all the enemy ships at once.

" Sir, all ships have been disabled, I am sending a message to them, they old government will be re en stated within one month, or we WILL be back. "

Good good. Now THAT is cool part about plate ships, no turrets, no torpedoes, no missiles. And you get 100% coverage. Now, I would love to come to your nation and discuss further with your leader. How soon can we leave?

G'tan watched the small skirmish with grim amusement. It was grim work, battle, but it was good to see it done quickly and efficiently. These Federation boys were good fighters, that was for sure. He nodded when he mentioned his opinion on the Terrans and smiled. It was good to find a fellow who thought like they did. When he mentioned coming to his nation to discuss things, with the Praetor no less, he was a little surprised but managed to talk. <"Well..now I suppose. The Praetor will need to be notified, but I dont see why he wouldn't be willing to meet with you.">

Well then, * points to the comm console * notify him. Give my helm officer the location and we can be there in 4 days. What should I expect of your people?

G'tan nodded. <"I see. Very well, if you'll excuse me."> He walked over to the console, linked up with Hsara and sent a ping to the Praetor's personal office. Kalthir, who had been relaxing after his briefing with Yarlong about the Confederacy, heard a bell sound, which indicated an incoming message. Sighing, he pressed a key to open the channel. <"Yes, what is it?">

<"Warcaptain G'tan here. I apologize for disrupting you, but I needed to talk to you.">

Kalthir raised an eyebrow. <"G'tan...aren't you in unexplored space, investigating that lost probe?">

<"Yes sir, and I made contact with a civilization. A powerful one. Known as the East Coast Federation. They destroyed the probe, since they are touchy about invaders.">

<"Makes sense. What are they like?">

<"Pretty much Kelauan, with only minor differences that make it another culture. It's rather spooky, in a way, they even agree with our stance on the Terrans.">

A smile came to the Praetor's face. <"Let me guess, they want to talk to me.">

"How'd you guess? Yeah, they say we can be there in four hours.">

<"I'll be waiting. Give him the coordinates to Kelaua Prime. I'll see you there.">

<"Understood. G'tan out.">

G'tan ended the channel and looked at the Admiral. <"He knows and he agrees. We can get moving. What to expect? Well, just imagine yourselves and you pretty much have it. Though much more serious, and with signs of devastation from the Great War."> He sent a final signal through the comm station, to Hsara, telling her to begin the return journey. She was going to need to get started, it taking so long.
