The Neo Kirisuban foreign minister Ms Miyu Hamasaki was waiting at the space port for the fast diplomatic starship to return from Earth.

On board this time was the Neo-Ixanians who would be setting up the first embassy established by an Earth based nation. This was truely a first and partly why Miyu was there to greet their Ambassador.

She also had a pair of red kimono wearing female samurai with both swords and a concealed phaser in their obi's. Miyu was wearing a light silk skirt suit and cotton blouse in pale blue and she looked at ease in the cool space port. She was in her early 30's and had been a defence force veteran.

Once they shuttled down to the surface the visitors would feel the heat soon enough. It was this warm all year round.

Conrad Brandner had never expected to be going to another planet in order to meet his Kirisuban counterpart but it did not worry him at all. Dressed in light clothing after being briefed about the warmth of the planet he was visting, Conrad was silently thinking about the meeting as he sit in the spaceship; occassionally uttering words in German, his native language. The Kirisuban nation had interested him ever since he first heard about it and wondered what the planet's populace was like. After several minutes, the ship landed safely on the planet. Conrad took his briefcase and walked out calmly; feeling the planet's heat coming upon him. He noticed Miyu in the distance, smiled and began greeting her.

"My name is Conrad Brandner; a diplomat of the Ixanian Empire. I must say that it is a pleasure to meet you....though I admit that I never imagined I'd ever be on another planet."

"Brandner San its a pleasure for me as well" Miyu warmly replied shaking his hand and introducing herself.

"We're used to having to travel far to meet people and not many people have the technology to meet us at our homeworlds. Thats why we joined the World Assembly" she added leading him to an open topped hover car.

One of the samurai was driving after taking her katana out of her belt and they drove to the building set aside for the embassy. The compound would also hold accomodation for the embassy staff and their families.

It was a modern concrete and glass office building three levels high and hopefully large enough for the Neo-Ixanian's needs. The accomodation block was a similar size.

"when will the others be arriving?" she also asked.

"May I ask for your name, Fraulein? I must say that it is nice to be able to visit other planets and to be riding on a hover car but it is all just unexpected is all. The embassy staff, etc will arrive after we are finished with our meeting."

When they arrived at the building site, Conrad smiled. "This is all acceptable to me and I am sure the embassy staff and I can manage quite well here. If it is possible, may I have a tour of this city? I am hopeful to learn more about your nation and its people."

"I'm Miyu Hamasaki, the Neo Kirisuban foreign minister" she replied with a smile on her face.

"I can leave you in the safe hands of Samurai-Captain Fujimoto whose driving us right now once I'm left off at my office again. I'm sure she can answer all your questions.

We have very little crime here so your staff have nothing to worry about once they settle in. Everybody speaks English here as well so theres usually no language barrier either" Miyu replied as he seen the buildings. These were completed and only the compound fence had to be completed.

"I'm Miyu Hamasaki, the Neo Kirisuban foreign minister" she replied with a smile on her face.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Hamasaki."

"I can leave you in the safe hands of Samurai-Captain Fujimoto whose driving us right now once I'm left off at my office again. I'm sure she can answer all your questions."

Reiko Fujimoto was with the Foreign minister along with the other samurai. Meeting a diplomat certainly made her day interesting and she was only 24 years old, 5' 2" tall and although slender was good looking and stronger than she appeared to be.

"Thats the Admiralty buildings and the place I work" she added in a soft cute voice.

We are a neutral nation but that does not mean we will not defend our posessions. Ixania has several colonies; all on Earth of course."

"Perhaps we could go to the Admirality buildings and take a look around? I'd like to see more of where you work. Forgive me for asking...but I'm just curious. I must say that being on another planet is something no one in my family has ever done....I'll be the first to go home and say: "I just went to another planet today; work was good."

There was only Conrad and Reiko left in the hover car now and as they waited for the little jam to clear she replied "I could show you a bit of the Admiralty buildings and grounds.

She wasn't sure how much he knew about the women here but they usually took the initiative when it came to relationships.

Reiko smiled as she entered her office. It was like a large porta-cabin split into two rooms and with it being in the grounds she had a good deal of privacy as she did her work.

There was other similar porta-cabins for the other researchers and Reiko's was painted cream, had a poster of her favourite rugby union team (the all female Edo Ki-Rin's) on a wall along with a calender of starships and it looked comfortable.

There was a sofa, a desk with a computer and printer on it as well as a more private meeting area behind the other door.

"We sound so alike already Conrad" she said leaving her swords on a desk stand now she didn't have to wear them.

"Can I get you tea or coffee. Or even a colder drink?" she also asked with a cute smile on her face.

There was also a food replicator here so she could be a good hostess.

Reiko smiled as she entered her office. It was like a large porta-cabin split into two rooms and with it being in the grounds she had a good deal of privacy as she did her work.

"Ah, I see" Reiko replied adding "I remember seeing horses before we settled on these twin worlds. We couldn't take them from our old homeworld although but I did see an interesting news report.

A knight was obliged to fight for his leader and to protect people. The Samurai sound like an interesting class of warriors; I may have read about them in school."

"Swords are still carried in Ixania; the most famous sword is the sword of Leto the Great; who founded the Ixanian nation. I am a full blood German and my parents immigrated to Ixania but we have all been in debt to the Ixanian people for accepting us."

She sipped more tea and found herself liking Conrad a bit more now so she made a suggestion.

"How about dinner this evening? Once your people have arrived I know a good restaurant not far from your compound." A cute look followed as she showed her interest in him.

"That is a good idea, Reiko. I am interested in partaking in Kirisuban cuisine and I think going to that restaurant would be a good way for me to do so."

Reiko's cute smile broadened slightly and she said "I'll make a reservation once you have an idea of what time you'll be free.

Its not far to walk either to it."

Conrad smiled. "It would be nice for local dishes to be added, Reiko; and while I'm interested in having German dishes added...nothing can beat the food made by my mother so many years ago. Yes; I still have plenty of love for the woman who spent the years of her life raising me."

"7pm should be a good time and I'll also have to introduce you to sake as well. Its rice wine which we serve warm.

He is still alive but has pledged himself to the life of a celibate widow because his love for my mother was absolute. In fact, I can still remember my mother telling me how they fell in love. I was their firstborn child; I have only one sibling, a younger sister who is still on Earth and in college."

Conrad smiled. "I will always remember my mother for who she was; a caring, compassionate and benevolent woman who was always there to support us."

Reiko smiled slightly as she heard Conrad describe his late mother and his family back home.

"Our world died when a communist group set off a bio weapon in Edo city.

The virus went airborne acting like a nerve gas killing peope who were unlucky enough to be infected. They didn't stay dead and rose again killing more people who then also arose and killed others.

We couldn't contain the virus since it also infected the animals and the water and even with nuking the cites of the dead to buy time we had to abandon our world. Our allies then destroyed the planet to stop the infection spreading.

We were then gifted this star system by the Federal Union in their space ten years ago and with a lot of help and hard work we turned two tropical worlds into our homes" she replied as she told the story.

Reiko smiled slightly as she heard Conrad describe his late mother and his family back home.

"Our world died when a communist group set off a bio weapon in Edo city.

"Despite your story being saddening and horrid, it is good to hear that you and your people survived the tragedy and were able to rebuild; even if you had to settle in this star system. I know that a massacre took place at a hotel in Ixania sometime ago but no communists or anyone has tried to attempt a viral attack."

Reiko was calm as she replied having dealt with her personal pain a long time ago.

"It was terrible and I hope your nation never has to face anything like this. My father survived but he died of a broken heart a year after we came here.

Either way we don't have any communists to worry about anymore. They either died in the attack or were left for the zombies before our evacuation fleet left.

Conrad listened attentively and silently to Reiko as she spoke about the tragedy and could sense that she did not want to talk about it further; so he did not ask her any questions about it. "I understand how you must feel about the tragedy, Reiko. There are people whom are still afraid and still saddened after the hotel massacre in Tzargrad. I was not in the city at the time but I did hear about it on the news."

Conrad smiled. "Is it time for us to leave for dinner yet, Reiko? We would not want to get there too late."

Reiko checked her watch and seen it was 5pm.

"its 5pm local time so I'll have time to run you back to the embassy and get ready before dinner.

I'll better make the reservation anyway" she said going to her terminal and speaking in her own melodic language.

The terminal reacted to her calling up different screens with her voice commands and finally a visual call was made to the restaurant.

Reiko talked with the woman on the other end of the line and the reservation was made and the line closed down.

"Thats dinner booked anyway" she added with a little smile on her face.

"Your technology is quite nice to look at and watch in action, Reiko but it is to be expected in an advanced society like your own. What shall we do until we have to leave for dinner? Do you have any ideas?"

Conrad smiled. "Fraulein, it has been nice being with you so far."

"I need to get home to get dressed for dinner and you need to check that your people have gotten to the embassy at some point. You can use my computer to call them since it also understands English.

I'll run you back in my car if you want or you could go home with me" she gently suggested and smiling given there was two hours before dinner and it was the rush hour even in this futuristic city.

"I would not mind going home with you, Reiko. It will be nice to see the home of a Kirisuban citizen; even if she's the beautiful young samurai I'll be having dinner with. I am sure that we will have enough time to check if my people have arrived at the embassy; but I am sure they have already arrived."

Reiko smiled and said "its just a little flat with the basics of life. Nothing really that grand.

Its just like the cramped quarters I got used to on starships only bigger but I'll show you it if you're prepared to put up with me getting ready so I look like a woman rather than a warrior."

She teased him slightly with the last sentence and drained her cup of tea placing the empty cup back in the replicator. One touch of a button and the cup vanished to be recycled again.

Reiko settled for a nice going out dress and black 2" heeled sandals. She applied some make up and red lipstick and also slipped on a ladies black jacket since it got a bit chilly in the evenings.

A high definition television could be seen along with a basket of fruit and a portrait of a young woman in a refined dress with a little plaque explaining who she was and who painted the portrait. Conrad grinned at Reiko. "I'll call my parents to arrange a meeting with them tonight. You can feel free to explore the room. After I am finished with the call, I'll give you a tour of this city."

He unified the Ixanian people into one nation and though I have no Ixanian blood in me at all, I still think that it is important to know about the history of the nation that was so generous to my ancestors."

Conrad led Reiko into the National History Museum's exhibit on Leto the Great which contained his personal suit of armor and sword, a portrait of Leto and his family along with all sorts of historical items. "Leto the Great worked to unify the Ixanian people into one nation throughout most of his life; believing that it would be better for them to be one than many. He killed many to fulfill his mission but we all honor him as the man who made this nation. The current Empress claims Leto as a paternal ancestor while her mother's descendants are all Germans; she is a half-German if you did not know."

Conrad smiled before he took Reiko back to the hotel. He dressed himself in a formal and expensive tuxedo and spent some time waiting for Reiko so they could go see his parents; who would probably be anxious to see them.

Reiko got ready after freshing up in the bathroom and slipped on the strappy evening dress.

At the restaurant, Conrad's parents were waiting silently for their son and his fiancee to arrive. His father, a middle aged man who could be both stern and outgoing sat in his best suit while his wife, Conrad's mother, was dressed in the best formal dress that she had and which did show some cleavage but not too much as she was a modest woman who did not mind being endowed with appealing features. In fact, just having them made Conrad's father's friends call him a lucky man for having her as his wife.

When Conrad found his parents, he tenderly spoke in German to them and embraced them a bit tightly before pushing Reiko gently forward to them. "This is Reiko, my Kirisuban fiancee."

Conrad's father was quite surprised to see Conrad engaged to a non-white woman but he did not mind it at all. He'd rather have a good non-white in the family than a white woman who he disliked. The children are instilled with good social and moral values and they are usually seen in parades and at places where the Empress may appear; waving little flags and cheering almost violently."

Conrad did not wake up Reiko as he got out of bed in the morning to get dressed and prepare breakfast. He could do nothing but just think about Reiko and how much they loved each other. There was no other woman that he wanted....Reiko was his one and true love.

Reiko got dried off and ready slipping on a red silk sleeping kimono and belting it loosely as she headed barefoot to the table where her beloved had set up breakfast.

He got a loving kiss before she sat at the table. Breakfast looked good but Conrad looked even better as she looked into his eyes.
