The Settling of Titan

The American Privateer

Years ago, during the Great Exile, the Exile Fleet, a vast armada of civillian and military vessels forced to travel like nomads through the universes, had come across a vessel known as the Titan. With the power to build worlds, the TAP'ian leadership had jumped at the opportunity to purchase just such a vessel. With a final Purpose, they returned to the universe they had designated Universe-1, and made a small Outpost near the planet Earth, from which all men in that, their home universe, had sprang.

Basing the Titan there, they dispatched vessels of science to countless universes, collecting DNA from the flora and fauns of countless worlds. Complete Planetary Ecosystems where collected and transfered into the Titan.

Then, by sheer chance, the USS Pillar of Dawn, salvaged from Universe-8b, slipped into a universe that existed not in our present time, but in the past. In the twinkling of an eye, the genetic material of the past of countless worlds had been harvested.

All of this was combined into one, massive ship. Now, after years of continued collection with a base int he Large Magellanic Cloud of Universe-20, it was time.

The Titan moved to a position far from the rest of the worlds held by The American Privateer. Due to the massive diversity of the genetics, two planets where to be built around a lonely Sol Type star.

As the power flowed, the ports on the Titan opened, and twin worlds where born. Designated Titan and Olympia, they would be test worlds, and it was time, for the settlers to move in.

The Jade Star, a YT-1300 freighter owned by the Northwind Family, descended through the atmosphere to the land designated for them. They where Homesteaders, and unlike many of those who where coming to Titan for colonization, they had their home already. Once landed and unloaded, the plan was to transform the Jade Star into their house, and use a small skiff for transportation as needed.

The family onboard was lucky, they had bought a river valley piece of terrain, and would have a natural benefit there for their soil farming measures.

The Corellian Corvette, Crimson Moon, descended through the atmosphere of Titan. Onboard, where a group of Nightguardsmen, armed and ready to cause havoc with the colonists and scientists. If they where lucky, the fake IFF transponder showing their name as the Argos would allow them to gain access to the planet, and drop off their Nightguardsmen. The first target was near a River Valley, where a Corellian YT-1300 had taken up an area as part of it's Homestead.

A small Deepwater Class Freighter filled with Knights of The Longinean Order descended through the atmosphere toward the location of the small settlement designated Jericho.

They had been given permission to build a small church there upon request from the citizenry of the town and the outlying farms, as Jericho was primarily a Catholic settlement.

Fr. Samson Archer de Port San Lucas smiled as he saw the jade green painted YT-1300 of the Northwind family sitting in a nearby river valley. He had grown to be good friends with David Northwind during his mission as a nomadic priest.

Watching the NOVA corp vessel landing nearby, he queued it up in his almost perfect memory to make a call on the Northwinds as soon as he was down nad had leave to do so...

Dr. Hans Zimmerman was excited. Titan had been theory for so long, and now, it was real. He and his team, Biologists, Geophysicists, Climatologists, Agrocologists, Heliologists, and several other professions ending in ologist where on hand to set up monitoring stations around the planet, and observe the effects of the Titan Project, and the way in which these animals created a new ecosystem.

Only their passengers, some men with the HPG Relay Network, looked unhappy about the job. These where men of the North Star Communications Corporation, and they did not enjoy life on the frontier. They had grumbled from the moment their vessel entered the Gate Network, and would do so until the town of Jericho could be established as a major metropolis.

In the cockpit, the Imperial Consular, a minor diplomat by the name of Jorge Vasquez, was excited. He had gotten an upgrade here, and was the town's link to the government of the Empire of the Five States.

As the Jade Star landed, the landing gear sank slightly into the soft dirt. As it settled, the family had a slight tense moment, before David joked about how the ship was "Settling in."

Laughter, made all more sincere due to its being startled out, filled the cabin. thus landed, the family made their way out to the cargo bay, and opened up the cargo hatch.

The scene that awaited them was magnificent. A pair of elk ambled by, as the neck of a distant brachiosaur could bee seen, its bulk hidden by the moderately treed forest. The sound of the calls of Hadrosaurs mixed in with the calls of birds and other animals.

"Well, this is going to be very interesting."

Fr. Samson was greeted by a group of men and women from the town who had been holding prayer meetings in their houses. "It is a pleasure to meet you Fr, and a pleasure to have you. When we found out, you where coming, we began work on your church. We hope that when it is finished, it will meet to your satisfaction."

The Mayor was there to greet Jorge Vasquez and the other passengers of the USAP vessel.

"Greetings, greetings. I am Mayor Tim Lung. Welcome to Jericho. You must be the new Imperial Consular, it is an honor to have you here."

His assistant walked over to the men pulling out scientific equipment and started handing out flimsi's with locations of where the Republic Geological Survey had suggested setting up listening posts.

The Post Master of the town, a young Mark Atreides, approached the disgruntled HPG men with nothing but eagerness.

The Post Master of the town, a young Mark Atreides, approached the disgruntled HPG men with nothing but eagerness.

"That I am," Jorge Commented, extending his hand, "I was told there would be a house and office waiting for me?" He looked around at the town with immense curiosity. Shuttles mixed with wooden and pre-fabricated homes to give the town a feeling of impermanence. Even the city hall, located near the starport, was little more than a CR90 Corvette, painted in blue with white and green highlights.

The beginings of the HPG relay station could be seen next to it, with the base of the relays sporting a small building that was clrealy the post office, though many in the frontier insisted on calling them the Telegraph Office due to the nature of the HPG stations. Samuel Kearny was the head of the HPG construction team, and he stepped past the over eager post master, and toward the HPG station, growling in Japanese about "Hyperactive rugrats."

Dr. Zimmerman smiled as he got the sheets, the Republic had put a lot of thought into the locations, and had identified fault lines as they formed, and had for seen the creation of certain biological zones.

He dispatched an Agrocologist out to the land designated Jade Star, and began sedning people out to all locations around the town of Jericho out to within 20 km.

"Please, show me the way," Fr. Samson said as he was led to the church. It was a small, twin spired building with a barracks hall off to the side.
