Fluidism Viriline
30-03-2008, 19:21
Full name: theocracy of Fluidism Viriline
Short name: Fluidism virline, nicknamed "Fiva"
capital: Tek'Oza
Tech level: Modern, frequent experimentation with future for military and agricultural purposes, traditional technology used for ceremony or special situations
Species: Human (multiracial), slight female majority
Government type: theocracy, confederation of nine kingdoms united under common culture and religion
Heads of State: Theocrat Charier, Head of Council of Kings Haakon VI
Religion: Fluidism (powers, abilities, and small quantities of one's spirit are transferred or imbibed by certain deeds or actions, etc.)

Geology:
Forested mountain ranges with heavily populated, fertile valleys and a few citadels
Some rivers, no aquatic connection to other nations except for one heavily protected bay

The people:
Citizens are highly devout. The three primary occupations are ruler/warrior, soldier, farmer/part-time warrior, and priest/ political adviser and part-time warrior. Other careers are, of course, there, but the prior careers outnumber scientists, artists and artisans, etc.
Our society as traditionally paternalistic- however, reforms within the last century have gradually opened more jobs up to everyone. The army is open to all, but men have traditionally formed the bulk of all of its ranks.
The job of the theocrat must always be filled by a man, as it requires them to have lots of children to pass on their blood. A woman couldn't reproduce fast enough.
We have no regard to race- all are accepted.
Polygamy (many varieties) is legal, except for the wives of the theocrat, who can be married to him alone.
Homosexuality is frowned upon but not illegal, just ignored.
Incest is illegal.
Abortion is given the same treatment as murder (except exile is not an option).
Families tend to have an average four children.
We are a very young nation people-wise.

Justice:
War crimes are seen as dishonorable and are punished by death by either being hurled off a cliff or crushed by an elephant.
Other very serious crimes are punishable by death by decapitation by sword in adults, which is usually ignored in favor of exile on pain of death. Prisons, community service, and labor camps handle less serious crimes and those of the young. Destroying, vandalizing, defacing, or otherwise harming a temple or other religious objects is considered as treason.

Military:
Lesser kingdoms are allowed to declare war on each other with the Theocrat's assent and only until he says to stop. (equivalent of NJ declaring war on NY and taking some of its land). This provides a useful way to keep the armies in shape, weed out seditious traitors before we have to fight other nations, and find good choices for the next theocrat. Uninvolved people and property and national employees or property are not to be harmed.
Each individual kingdom- there are nine- is allowed to keep 1/5 of its military might to itself. the rest goes into the national military, which does not participate in inter-kingdom wars and is not allowed to have war declared on it. All kingdoms must surrender their private armies for national use too if the council votes on it or the theocrat demands.

Civilian Life:

Most people are lower-middle class but they live contented, community-oriented lifestyles. People help each other and the community out, so the lack of enormous wealth is not felt. Each year the theocrat is required to donate 1/10 of his personal fortune to charitable causes, so that helps.
Most non-warriors stay in a similar region all their lives except for short trips, but warriors and scientists travel and settle all over the place.
the goal of life is loyalty to our gods, the theocrat, the community, and yourself. Self-improvement and the attainment of glory are also major goals.
Men tend to wear Western clothing.
Women can wear Western male clothing (except women wear shorter shorts)- however, when not participating in athletics, war, or strenuous labor, they usually wear dresses with relatively long skirts or saris, depending on region and preference.

Swimwear resembles that of the West for both men and women.

In warmer climates, it is common to wear nothing to sleep.
