Sweat beading on his face, General Roberts ran up the stairs of the Presidential Palace. He never was much of an athlete. "Sir! It's time"

"Thank you, Roberts. You may leave" replied the President.

"Sir! It's an honor to serve this great nation". With that, Roberts raised his swagger stick, turned on his heels, and ran back out.

The President stood up and stretched. He then walked out to the podium that overlooked the Parliament Building and National Library. On the steps of these buildings were people. Millions of them, standing, eating, drinking, sitting.

The President saluted the crowd. The crowd got silent.

"Men and women. Sons and daughters of this great nation.

When General Gainsborough, our former ruthless tyrant, was disposed of, there were tears all over the nation.

Now, something has happened to our nation. Something that will make these tears of joy return to the people of Jayate. Under my adminstration, civil war has ended. We have recovered from an imploded economy. We have been freed from a dictatorship. Elections have been reinstated.

And now, we have expanded our borders. To the continent west of Asia, known to the world as simply - Europe"

With this, cheers from the crowd erupted. The people screamed "GLORIA UT NOSTRUM NATIO!"

The President smiled and held up his hand. He continued.

"After 2 years of war, we have conquered the lands to the east of this continent. However, foreign influences are all around us. We have set eyes to the north and east of this land and have mobilized our troops to this area.

Our National Guard shall defend the lands we already conquered. Our Navy shall secure our water borders. Today, these lands. Tomorrow, all of Europe!"

Cheers erupted from the crowd yet again. The President smiled again and took his wife's hand. He walked away from the podium, saluted the people, and returned to the Presidential Palace.

It was unexpected, according to many, that the reign of Empress Anastasia II would be marked with the acquisition of colonies. Ixanian sailors sailed across the world to bring the banners of the Empire to lands as diverse as Brazil and Europia but now it was time to claim two new lands; the massive land that was Russia and the island of Great Britain. Empress Anastasia signed a decree that officially claimed both areas as colonies of the Empire; immediately sending soldiers to both places. Within weeks, Ixanian soldiers landed at the shores of Britain and at various sites in Russia. Thousands and thousands of soldiers were sent to these new colonies along with multitudes of settlers. Viceroys were appointed to govern Ixanian Britain and Ixanian Russia and both were now able to send representatives to Ixania to voice their concerns. To officially declare the claims, Ivan Rucinsky (Foreign Minister) spoke to the world (OOC: nations participating in this RP):

"The lands which have been called Great Britain and Russia are hereby, as of this date, claimed in the name of the Ixanian Empire and are considered from this date to be colonies of the Ixanian Empire; to be governed by Her Majesty's Government."

As this was going on, the Ixanian Empire was sending thousands of soldiers and settlers to its newlyfound colonies; who would establish settlements and fortifications.

The President's helicopter landed a few feet away from General Jacobs, who was holding on tightly to his hat.

The President walked out of the helicopter and was met with the salutes of 5 Jayatian Guards. He returned their salutes, and the salute of General Jacobs.

"The plan of attack is ready, correct?" said the President.

"Yes, sir" replied Jacobs. "We will mobilize our troops tomorrow. After---"

"No, mobilize them NOW" said the President. "Haven't we been over this?"

"Yes, but sir. It's not exa---"

"I am your Commander, the Supreme General of Jayate. You listen to me and I command you as you would command your Lieutenants. Understand?"

"Yes, sir" said Jacobs.

"Allow me to send the troops off". The President didn't bother to wait for an answer. He walked towards the troops.

General Jacobs clenched his jaw. He threw his hat to the ground and stomped on it. He then proceeded to follow the President.

"I will not make a speech, or show off or anything to you young men and women today. Rather, I will simply send to off like a mother, or a father, a brother, or a sister.

Be safe. Know that you are doing this for the glory of your nation. Make us proud, my sons and daughters."

The soldiers cheered.

"Now stand! Turn around and look at the horizon. We are standing on the border between our territory, and those unconquered lands. By nightfall of next week will I stand before your friends, brothers and sisters. And your mothers and fathers. And to them will I say 'Mission Acomplished'!

So march. With your first steps will you be in new, unknown lands. And soon will these lands be another territory for the United Federation of Jayate! While I breathe, I hope. I hope for your safety, and for your success. And my hope is not baseless when I look at your faces.

March forward!"

The soldiers marched into the new land. The President turned around and saluted General Jacobs.

"Where is your hat?"

"Yes sir, forgive me"

"Good luck, General"

"Yes sir, thank you sir"

When the President boarded his helicopter, the General looked at his watch. The President spoke for 10 minutes.

"So much for not giving a speech" said the General under his breath. He then followed his troops.

Northern Rangeria

By the decree of His Majesty, Prince Mikhail IV of House Halsar, we hereby declare these lands as sovereign territory of the Principality of Northern Rangeria, thereby placing these areas under military governorship until such a time they are admitted to the Principality as provinces.

May God bless the Prince.

On two separate occasions were these words read, one in the north of Europe, on the wooded shores that would in some other time and place be called Skåne, Sweden, and one by the azure waters of the Mediterranean, with the Jaegers looking with curious wonder at the ruins they saw on a nearby hilltop. The archeologists of the Halsanki University would surely be interested in studying them in due time.

Despite such academic curiosities, the expansion was for more pressing reasons as well. After the War of Independence there had been a national 'baby-boom', and the children born during that fertile era were now coming of age, looking for land to settle, jobs to find, generally wanting to set up lives. For these and other reasons the Principality government had expanded to the Caribbean Islands and on the Akimonadi Osmiu, and for these reasons the new colonies were settled on either side of the vacant continent.

The larger northern colonies reminded the arriving Jaegers and colonists so greatly of their homeland, that it was quickly dubbed New Rangeria. Colonies were established at the mouths of water-ways, cartographic teams mapping the land and setting up the boundaries. Jaegers had arrived to protect the colonisation process, as well as to help set up the presence of Northern Rangerian government. Until the population was settled, these areas would be governed by a military governor.

Similar process was taking place in the south, where on the slopes of the ruin-topped hills the Rangerians set up a base camp. Building of an airfield was begun immediately, Naval vessels charting the scattered islands as well as placing radar outposts, just in case. This new land was dubbed Arkadia after its resemblance to the ancient beautiful land mentioned in history books.

"The task force consisting of colony ship Nyu-Kitai, the battlegroup Kyuusaisha, and City-Class amphibious ships has confirmed its arrival at Italy-Slovenia, specifically one kilometer northwest of the Tiver River." announced the Chief Adviser, reading over the papers. "Natives are being...persuaded to join our cause, as we speak. The civilians on board Nyu-Kitai will wait approximately 2 days while the 5th Expeditionary Force mops up resistance before moving in."

"Very good," smiled the proud president. "Ensure the survivability of the colony - all those colonialists are either farmers or factory workers-slash-construction crew, correct?"

"Yes sir. Basic agriculture should begin soon; the area is able to sustain a large farming sector. Factory construction shouldn't start for another month or two."

Italy-Slovenia
1400 Hours

"Move it, boys! We have to secure the local natives here by nightfall!" shouted the lieutenant.

"Yes, SIR!" shouted the group of marines, as they followed him up through the beach. Waves sloshed through the wet sand, doing their everlasting duty, as the soldiers loaded guns and set safeties off.

After a few hours of trekking through the plains along the Tiber River, the troop of 100 found themselves approaching the crossing of the Tiber and the Aniene rivers. As they stared in awe, they found themselves staring at a massive settlement of natives, stretching for at least a square mile.

"Lieutenant, I think we've found some natives!" shouted a private sarcastically.

"Yes we have...a very, very big settlement." muttered the lieutenant. Dammit, he thought, I didn't have orders for settlements this massive. "Well boys, let's take a look, shall we?"

After a few hours of walking around the locals, they learned the city was named Roma and the denizens spoke latin. The natives, frightened by the shining armor, helmets, and guns the troops carried, ushered them to the chief of the city-state. Showing off their guns, they were easily able to "convince" the chief to sign over the city, population around 5000, to Shansekia.

Standing on a hill and looking out over the bay that in another world would be known as Reykjavik, liutenant general Ernst Haubermann was pleased. Large amounts of materiel and personnel had already been brought ashore, and the few primitive, gibberish-speaking natives that had lived in the area had been caught and put into custody. Patrols of soldiers and helicopters were already out exploring the area. The scientists brought along had discovered several sites that were suitable for geothermal power plants, which meant that many energy-demanding industries would be relocated here. And that would increase his influence and status in the Empire greatly. He smiled. So, he was a governor now, wasn't he? Maybe not for one of the more glamorous provinces, but you had to start somewhere. Below, a group of engineers had started working on a small harbor. Another group was building an airfield, and further others were constructing provisional housing and other facilities. The Zaheranians were not sitting idle.

Two weeks later
Rauchbucht, Capital of the Eisland Province

The small pioneer village was now starting to look like a city. 50,000 people were now living on the island, most of them in the city, working as factory workers or fishermen, with thousands more arriving each day. Roads had been built along the coast, while most of the inland remained to be civilized. There lived the last of the free natives, hiding from the men that had come from the sea. Those captured had been put in education camps, with a few linguistically talented inviduals serving as guides and interpreters. On the whole, everything was going well.

Private Longsworth threw the man on the ground with force. "Well sir, now what do we do?"

"Have you round up them all?" asked General Grandolfi

"Yes sir"

"Good" said the General. "Now transport them to the Prisoner Ships and ship them out of here"

"Sir yes sir!". And with that, Longsworth was off.

The General took out his radio. "Sir?". The President was on the other line. "Yes?"

"We are done here"

"Have you checked the full territorial boundaries?"

"Yes sir"

"Great job General. Jayate will begin placing citizens there immediately. Next, go into the Czech Territory and secure within the boundaries. Don't go any further as we don't want to stir up a war with other nations who may be there"

"Yes sir. However, the presence of the Jayatian Guard is still needed for the Poland and Ukraine Territories. Resistance may reappear"

"Naturally, General. The process of converting the natives to Jayatian citizens will take a while, but will be worth it. Keep up the great work. You're making Jayate proud, General"

"AND STOP!"

The soldiers halted in their tracks.

"Make camp here" General Jacobs shouted.

The soldiers began to move around, gathering equipment from the trucks and setting up camp.

General Jacobs looked around and wiped the sweat off of his face. They had been marching for 5 hours since the President's send-off, and the sun was beginning to set. He had not planned for this, as the day ended much earlier than he had thought.

The time was wrong. Jayate Standard Time shouldn't be used for these territories he thought. He radioed the President.

"Sir, with all due respect, your time system is wrong. These lands are latitudes away from our great nation. Suggesting a different timing system for here"

"I will meet up with Urban Development about this. In the meantime, how are you doing?"

"Sir! The area is cleared out. We have met no resistance so far, but we are only an estimated 100 miles away from the Ukrainian border.

"What are your plans for the next week?"

"Sir! Tonight we will set up camp. Then, we will, from here, scout out any natives and welcome them into Jayate. Should they resist, we will ship them out to Jayatian prisons and/or kill them"

"Jacobs, you are regaining favor in my eyes. Work hard tomorrow, and expect a bonus for when you return to the Jayatian motherland"

"Sir! Thank you sir!"

New Rome
0632 Hours

Two weeks after the arrival of Shansekian forces, all native had either been annexed or, sadly, killed off by the military. Citizens flooding into the area established the first Shansekian city, New Rome, at the area where the Tiber river fed into the ocean. Over 10,000 people populated the rickety town, assembled out of temporary shelters and tents while buildings were still being constructed. Native slaves, bought off the natives themselves, were useful cheap labor to construct the first apartments and houses. Farmland was being fertilized, if needed, north of the city, and wheat and olives would be planted soon in the Mediterranean climate. The area needed little work to build a harbor, and ships soon ferried passengers and goods to the colony.

Govenor Thomas Nagato smiled from atop his hastily-established government building, in the center of the growing city. Fluttering above him was the Circular Phoenix Flag, the symbol of Shansekia. Raised yesterday with the mostly-complete building, it brought courage to the many citizens who had to deal with little to no material comfort. Knowing that they were supported in the middle of nowhere, far from home, really helped keep them working.

"Sir," shouted the aide, running up the stairs to the roof, "the slaves have finished training. They're ready to work with metal and power tools."

"Good," smirked the govenor. "Start the housing projects. Make sure to tell them we'll release them when the city is done...maybe in a year. Gotta keep them hopeful, or they'll mass suicide."

"Yes sir." Running off, the aide left the Thomas to his silent vigil over the city.

The Emperor looked as his aide in incredulity.

"Is it possible? We can reclaim at least part of our ancestral homelnds, long fallen to ruin and barbarism? Then, by all means, we must do so!"

Hypatos Lasarkis looked askance. "Unfortunately, the are is already claimed, albeit by a minor, lesser power. We should...negotiate with them to achieve some kind of solution that falls short of war. If this proves impossible, the Imperial Senate must consider whether it's worth going to war over. And you know, Majesty, that they are currently dominated by pacifists..."

Constantine responded "Nevertheless, it is our ancestral right to reclaim this territory. If needs be, we will exercise the powers derogated to us under the Constitution and declare war first. Let those weak-kneed, mealy-mouthed politicians try to reverse that! But of course, you are correct in that a negotiated solution is preferred. So, my old friend, let us work on a message...."

Re: Ancestral lands and land claims.

Greetings to Your Majesty from your affectionate cousin, Constantine of New Chalcedon. We have recently learned that the fabled homeland of our people has been rediscovered and was open to reclamation by the descendants of the ancient wanderers. We are sure, then, that you can appreciate our consternation at having discovered that another nation has expropriated the lands that are rightfully ours.

In a less mild people, this would be grounds for an instant declaration of war, but we of New Chalcedon are more civilised than to crush another, smaller nation for an honest mistake, nor do we wish to deny your claim - you did make it in good faith, after all. Therefore, We propose either of the following solutions, or a variant thereof, as a means of peaceful and just settlement:

(1) The Principality of Northern Rangeria and the Empire of New Chalcedon agree to a joint sovereignty over the disputed areas, with Northern Rangeria's other claims (notably, the barbarian tribes known as "Albanains") administered under Rangerian law; or

(2) A partition of the territories under dispute in some mutually-aceptable manner. As an opening offer, We propose the following partition: The Peleponnese (OOC: the southern peninsula of Greece), as well as all Aegean islands and the islands of Crete and Cyprus, to go to the Empire of New Chalcedon. The remainder of Greece, as well as all Ionian (western-coast) islands north of the Peleponnese to go to Northern Rangeria.

Please note, Your Majesty, that New Chalcedon is more interested in negotiating than fighting. However, if you refuse to at least negoitate in good faith, then the Empire may be forced to take further action, either alone or in conjunction with our allies. We implore you to avoid a needless war.

Prince Mikhail IV, the young, 26-year-old ruler of the Principality of Northern Rangeria, frowned deeply at the message he had received from the New Chalcedonian emperor. He placed the missive back on the table and looked at the Cabinet gathered.

"It is a knife hidden in a diplomat's sleeve, my lord", spoke Duke Stapani Aalthone, Minister of the Exterior and one of the senior members of Northern Rangerian politics. "If we do not negotiate, they intend to take our claim by force. And if our knowledge of New Chalcedonian politics are correct, they might still do so and use the negotiations to buy time to gather the troops."

"How many troops do we currently have in Arkadia?" Mikhail asked, sitting down.

"Currently we have deployed five Jaeger Regiments and two Navy Battlegroups in the region", came the answer from Juhann Mickone, the Minister of Defence. "With the inclusion of the two Coastal Jaeger Regiments, that brings us to more than 40,000 soldiers."

Mikhail frowned slightly. "Forty thousand troops to defend a colony of thirty thousand civilians, Juhann? Would you not call that shooting a fly with a cannon?"

The Minister chuckled slightly. "In the light of these events, sire... No, I would not. They were dispatched in large numbers due to our mistakes in the Osmiu Islands. But reports state that so far they have encountered only small, independent villages in the Peloponnesian territory. Apparently they were more frightened than angered by our VTOL planes. Governor Kustave has begun negotiations with these people, offering them Northern Rangerian citizenship and a promise their claims to their farmlands will be respected."

"That might work in our advantage", Mikhail said, tapping his chin as he turned to look at the Minister of Culture, Lady Arja Kudarov. "And the ruins?"

"Our initial estimates are that the region has been abandoned for at least a thousand years. I am dispatching archeological teams to find out more. But if need be... we will accept New Chalcedonian scientists to join us."

Mikhail chuckled. "Hmm... That will be a bargaining chip as well. Very well, ladies and gentlemen. Duke Aalthone, join me in a moment and we'll discuss our answer. Juhann, walk with me for a moment..."

To His Imperial Majesty Constantine XV, Emperor and Lord of New Chalcedon, Defender of the Realm, Grand Strategos of the Imperial Armed Forces, etc., etc.

Greetings and blessings to Our Imperial Cousin from myself and my people. On the behalf of House Halsar, I, Prince Mikhail IV of Northern Rangeria, offer to you our most heart-felt wishes of good health and wisdom.

Therefore it is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that your request for annexing our new colony of Arkadia comes in a most inopportune of moments, as we have already commenced extensive relocation and repopulation projects in the area. Also, we have made contact with the native population in the Peloponnesos, and our negotiations with them to offer them Northern Rangerian citizenship and protection of their rights to land, religion and way of life are faring well. Therefore it would be both traitorous and unjust of us to simply abandon these peaceful people.

While we understand the emotional and cultural connection that the people of New Chalcedon feel for this region, we must also state that your demands for annexation or joint rule seem excessive. A simple look at history books reveals how people have moved great distances in the past. Yet, have the English claimed Germany because they left this land in the 4th and 5th centuries? Do the Finns claim the territory of River Volga as theirs by birthright? Did the Arapaho, the Ute, the Sioux, the Algonquin, the Arawak and the numerous Native American nations demand Siberia as their ancestral home of birth? While we respect these cultural connections, we must also act by precedent. Your demand for forfeiting our territory is, as you have proposed it, unacceptable.

However, we are willing to open negotiations on neutral territory, but not without guarantee of the untouchability of our colony. We are also willing to let New Chalcedonian scientists join our archeological expeditions in the region, as well as guarantee the right of pilgrims and tourists to enter the area once the area has been stabilized and entered into the Northern Rangerian political structure as a full-righted province.

News travel fast in the Northern Rangerian Defence Corps, and before the day was out, governor-general August Kustave had begin the fortification of the colony cities in Arkadia. Sandbags came first, then concrete and mortar. The Peloponnesian tribes were informed of the New Chalcedonian offer, but apparently these simple farmers and goat-herders had little or no in common with their wayward cousins. They pledged their allegiance to the Principality flag, and messengers were dispatched to northern settlements in Thessaly and Ionia. VTOL planes carried new equipment and troops on the region, the Jaegers battering down their hatches in the face of a coming storm...

A stout, middle aged man waited in a small reception room in the palace. George Stroms had been summoned to the palace for a quick meeting with the Empress herself, a woman he had only spoken a few passing words to. He passed the time by nervously shuffling the papers in his briefcase, until the doors were opened, and the Empress stepped into the room.

He rose and bowed, and she gestured for him to cut with the formalities. "I've called you here to head a very important assignment. I know I don't know anything about you personally, but you come with extremely high recommendation from the State Ministry."

Stroms blushed slightly, and tried to act modestly, "Well, I've worked very hard over the years, but I'm sure they overstated my accomplishments slightly. However, I am deeply honored to fulfill an important mission for the state.

The Empress unfurled a large map on a table sitting in the center of the room. An image of a large continent appeared before his eyes. The land seems to span several thousand miles, with various formations. He also noticed that borders had already been drawn on many areas of the map. "You see, Mr. Stroms, Mephras has recently laid claim to a portion of territory in this newfound land. Unlike most of our other holdings, it has a cold climate, however, there are rumors that the area has many resources. And of course there is the question of the natives...."

A somewhat concerned look spread over the face of George, as he thought of the enormity of the task that was laid before him. "While I'm sure this task will not be easy, I am confident that I can secure these lands, and turn them into prosperous provinces of the Mephrasian Empire. With suitable military and developmental resources of course."

"I assure you" interrupted the Empress. "that the budget you receive will be more than adequate, as this is a top priority of the Empire. With that, George was dismissed, and given a further briefing of the situation in the newfound lands of Europe. As he thumbed through the pages of the binders of information which had been prepared, he was tapped on the shoulder by an aide. "Sir, Tomorrow you shall leave for the new territories. Hail Mephrasia!" George left the palace, and began to pack for the expedition.

Land?

It was something that he olved to hear, whenever he saw it his eyes brightened and he would let out a smile from ear to ear. It was a good old fashion land grab. John had his eyes set on the areas that influenced Greston the most, Great Britian and he decided to take the areas around. Ireland was already marked to be Grestonian and so was Belgium and Amsterdam but that wasn't much at all. More land was needed for this new Grestonian Colony to be succesful. That's why the Maldorians were accompanying the fleet over to Ireland. The first target was to take Great Britian for the Neo-Ixanians had all of Russia, such a large land.

The fleet consisted of the normal, 50 Seastabber Battleships, 10 Hermin cruisers, and 20 Oscar subs, a small fleet to most Grestonian standards. Colonel Nathan Cersiscal was the to be President Govenor of the land to which was going to be named Belstum Europia.

The journey was a nice one, no trouble and the weather was good for the most part but despite that the crew was estatic to see the new land. The first thing the did after landing was establish a port and they opened it, only for Maldorians.

The 9th Mandalorian Task Force slowly sailed east, in no rush. The IMNS Vengence, flagship of the "Vengence" task force, named after the hulking ship, was in the dead center of the flottila. Flanked by two other superdreanoughts, the represented the firepower of the Mandalorian Navy. Pacing the command bridge was the one and only Dark Admiral Raoul. Part of the Mandalorian War Council, this man was one of the few planners who co-ordinated the invasions of Galmiria, Barokin, Gens Romae, and even The World Soviet Party. But all of that was in the past. For countless months, the Mandalorian Military had been on stand-by, performing petty duties such as the routine defense of the beloved Greston. However, along with their staunch ally, now was the time to awaken the sleeping dragon. Accompanied by Sub-Admirals Mahmoud and Fezad, the Dark Admiral scribbled out a message to Neo-Ixanian Command in the United Kingdom. The whole operation was under his command, so he made the rules as he pleased.

"Yes sir! Thank you sir!" replied Jacobs

"Well, Jacobs, let's start this ceremony". And with that, the President walked away from Jacobs and took the microphone from a Lieutenant. He then proceeded to address the soldiers, entrepreneurs, and journalists standing before him, admiring the speaker-setup that the Jayatian Guard had made just for his speech. The television crews were broadcasting this "historic moment" (as General Jacobs called it) to the motherland of Jayate in Asia.

"I am proud to speak to you today..."

The President spoke for 5 more minutes.

"And with these words do I leave only one more thing - and that is the declaration of this territory as part of the United Federation of Jayate. General Jacobs has suggested a new time system for these European territories, and his request has been granted."

A Jayatian Guard then ran up to the President and handed him the flag of Jayate.

So now, I am proud to say that at 5:57 PM, Jacobs' Standard Time, I place the Rising Phoenix, the flag of Jayate, in the soil of our Territory of Belarus, otherwise known as the Belorussian Territory"

And with that, the President slammed the flag into the ground. Cheers erupted from the crowd and cameras flashed. The President shook Jacobs' hand.

"Sir!" was Jacobs' reply. The President boarded his helicopter and flew off. The entrepreneurs, journalists, and other civilians began to board their own rides home, or they began to return to the soldiers' camp (if they were assigned there) along with the soldiers themselves. The Jayatian Guard was due to arrive 2 days later in order to be under Jacobs' command and secure the newly proclaimed Belorussian Territory.

Jacobs looked at the flag. It waved in the slight wind and the sun was setting behind it.

"I did all the work, yet he gets the glory" Jacobs said to himself. He then walked off towards the camp.

Territory of Belarus, 7:00 PM Jacobs' Standard Time

"^&%$!" screamed General Jacobs as he ran around. "SHOOT them you worthless..."

He was knocked on his back by a member of the Jayatian Guard.

"Damn" Jacobs said as he got back up. The attacks had been going on for about an hour now. The camp was being attacked by, what he assumed to be, the natives. He now realized his mistake in setting up a camp in a valley.

Jacobs got up and took a rifle from a dead Jayatian Guard. He aimed the rifle to a figure up on the cliffs. He pulled the trigger, and the figure dropped.

"THAT'S how you shoot a goddamn rifle!" Jacobs yelled. He proceeded to get onto his horse and rally most of his troops who were, just 10 minutes ago, running around like a bomb had gone off during rush hour.

"Form 2 Squares, and aim at them. Switch up as you reload and let the line behind you get a chance to shoot these S.O.B.s!" he commanded.

The troops obeyed his orders. The soldiers in the front line of the 1st Square fired in unison. Once they had used up a magazine, the whole line ran to the back of the formation and reloaded there. Meanwhile, the second line moved forwards and began shooting. The same happened in the 2nd Square.

This continued for 10 minutes until the hostilities were neutralized...at least in General Jacobs' mind. Natives gave up and ran towards the troops, who shot them anyway. The natives' primitive weapons were no match for the advanced weapons of an organized Jayatian Brigade.

"&*%# this!" Jacobs yelled. "We're moving from this goddamn valley. Gather up your %$#^ and move out".

The soldiers ran around once again as if a bomb went off during rush hour.

"Damn Jayatian Guards" muttered Jacobs.

The Adnan Fleet had already set sail towards the Neo-Ixanian territory of Russia. The Leasathi Navy had a vast assortment of ships at it's disposal, and was willing to send whatever need be. Leasathi Admiral Hussein Johawar stood in the bridge of the carrier Hudhayfah, onboard the carrier were MiG-29K Fulcrums.

The fleet protected inside of it ten Yedinorog-class landing ships carrying the Leasathi Republican Guard Medina, Nida, Hammurabi, and Nebuchadnezzer divisions. The were several hundred kilometers away from Russia and would land into the land on the shores in the Black Sea.

Jacobs got fed up. "SHUT THE HELL UP".

Everyone got quiet.

Jacobs was on his horse, commanding the troops. "1...2...3...CHARGE!"

On his orders, the Brigade rushed the natives' village in the Central section of Belorussian Territory. The guards of the village were quickly shot. A woman screamed, which led the whole village into a frenzy. People rushed out of their homes. The village guards were now completely wiped out. A member of the Jayatian Guard shot a woman running out of her home.

Jacobs shot the Jayatian Guard member. "NO KILLING CIVILIANS, DAMMIT" he yelled. He then commanded his troops to take as prisoner every member of the village. The job was done easily, taking only 30 minutes.

Jacobs ordered his men to take the prisoners back towards South Belarus Territory. They would be used as slaves to tend the land and prepare it for Jayatians.

Similar work was being done in the Territories of Poland, Ukraine, and Czechoslovakia. This slavery system would, as the President of Jayate hoped, be efficient and free labor in order to prepare the land for its necessary uses - to be used urban centers and as military bases for Jayate's near-future operations in Europe.

Jacobs radioed in. "Sir!"

"Yes?" came the President's reply.

"Mission accomplished sir! All major Belorussian cities as shown by satellite are conquered and slaves are being used from these areas. Central, Southern, and Western Belarus are clear. Asking for assistance for Northern and Eastern Belarus sir!"

"Permission granted, General. The Federal Government will send some Jayatian Guards for Eastern Bealrus, and the Jayatian Navy will be sent for Northern Belarus.

Use those slaves to fix up the area. We need a military wing in Europe for our...plans with our neighbors"

"Sir yes sir!". Jacobs steered his horse towards his Brigade, and began commanding them regarding the use of the slaves. Soon, Belarus will be another state for the United Federation of Jayate.

OOC: I leave the computer for 8 hours and this is what happens? I'm posting as if everything has been solved, and apologies in advance if i have my facts wrong.

IC: Approximately a month had passed since the first ships had landed in Mephrasian Europe. Small towns were beginning to bustle around the new port facilities that were taking shape. Estimates placed the population at around 300,000, and it was expected to grow as immigrants from the crowded mainland looked for space and prosperity. The climate, a shock for the more warm suited Mephrasians, was becoming slightly more agreeable with every passing day. For most of the settlers, a bright future seemed certain on the horizon.

However, for the leaders of the colony, storm clouds seemed to be brewing. Every day seemed to bring news of a new occupation, annexation, or ultimatum, one of which involved a close friend, Neo-Ixania. Seeing the changing of the flag on the nearby islands of Great Britain troubled deeply the colonial leadership. While in the end, it seemed a peaceful transition, such brinkmanship did not bode well for the future of European colonial peace. A strong statement was deemed necessary for the continent.

Europe. A major conflict ravage the nations holding colonies on the continent known as Europe. The conflict started when a fleet consisting of units from the Imperial Republic of Greston and the Tyranical Mandalorian Empire of Mandalorians amassed near the Neo-Ixanian colony of Great Britain. Many rumours circulate, but a source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "it is clear that the intent was to invade Great Britain. Both the nations in question are known for annexing territory belonging to other nations given the slightest excuse. We have strong indications that Greston has sent a ultimatum to Neo-Ixania and that negotiations are taking place".

A number of nations has declared their opposition to the actions taken by the Grestonians and Mandalorians. A representative for the Fegosian Union, of which Zaheran is a member, has declared the Union's intention to defend Neo-Ixania with all means at their disposal. The Maldorian response was, according to unconfirmed sources, very harsh, but for the moment no further information on the content has been released.

At home, a spokesman for the government stated that "we take this matter very seriously". He would neither confirm nor deny the rumour that the aggressors has threatened use of unconventional weaponry against member-states of the Fegosian Union, but it was confirmed that Zaheran will give military support to Neo-Ixania in case the latter's territory is attacked. However, we wish to make following changes and notifications to your proposal:

#1. As agreed, mainland Greece and Albania, including the Peloponnesos region, remain under Northern Rangerian jurisdiction.
1.1. As part of this agreement, the Principality of Northern Rangeria and the Empire of New Chalcedon also enter a mutual non-aggression pact, thereby pledging not to intervene or interfere in each other's colonial affairs through military, political, economic or other means, save in the case where international law is breached - including hostility towards, discrimination against or forced removal of native population.

#2. That instead of seeking New Chalcedonian permission for excavation, any and all excavation of ruins, possible habitation sites or battle fields are joint ventures of Northern Rangerian and New Chalcedonian universities.
2.1. Also, in accordance to Northern Rangerian legislation, any unauthorized archeological venture, attempt to smuggle historical artifacts from Arkadia or not informing the Ministry of Culture of any and all archeological finds are considered crimes against cultural heritage and thereby severely punished.
2.2. The Ministry of Culture has also pledged their willingness to co-operate with their New Chalcedonian counterpart in the process of excavating, studying and exhibiting possible finds.
2.3. Issues of ownership of finds will be dealt case-by-case.

#3 That the islands of Crete, Karpathos, Saria and Rhodes be placed under New Chalcedonian jurisdiction. Furthermore Northern Rangeria will not challenge New Chalcedonian annexation of Cyprus. (OOC: Cyprus was not originally given to me. Clear this with Jayate)
#3.1. The islands located in the Aegean Sea remain under Northern Rangerian jurisdiction. However, following the setting up of civilian government of Arkadia,
3.1.1. the passage of New Chalcedonian tourists and pilgrims from New Chalcedonian holdings will not be hindered, provided they adher to local legislation.
3.1.2. the agreement of joint archeological, ethnographic and folklore studies extend to these island.
3.1.3. the passage of New Chalcedonian civilian vessels towards the Bosphorus will not be hindered, save in the case of strong assumption of breach of national or international legislation enforced in Northern Rangerian territorial waters (including but not limited to smuggling, breach of environmental legislation and transit of controlled substances or materials).

#4 The Empire of New Chalcedon is permitted to settle and claim the city of Kalamata in the Messenian Prefecture.
4.1. In return, New Chalcedon pledges not to house more than 200 troops or militia at any given time in Kalamata. This limitation does not apply to civilian police force.
4.2. Furthermore, as the location of Athens has already been settled by Northern Rangerians and chosen as the seat of future provincial government, New Chalcedon is given the right to open a consulate in the city.

Also, in the hopes of avoiding other such diplomatic clashes, the Empire of New Chalcedon is invited to apply for an embassy in Northern Rangeria. We have attached the necessary paper work for your perusal (OOC: application thread in my signature).

As for the passage of this military expedition in the aid of Neo-Ixania, our governor general in Athens has been given orders to dispatch the 3rd Europa Battle Group to serve as escorts to the New Chalcedonian vessels through the archipelago. We also kindly recommend you to contact the government of Caprilusa, as it is they who control the Bosphorus and thereby the passage of vessels into the Black Sea.

And while we are overwhelmed at your offer of engineering aid in Arkadia, we must respectfully decline. The Northern Rangerian Defence Corps are proud and stubborn men and women, and they and the settlers take great pride in organizing their own conditions.

Finding itself in control of the straits which guard access to the Baltic Sea, Mephras takes on an important role as gatekeeper of the Baltic, a job which we do not take lightly.

Noting the large number of peaceful nations who border this body of water, to allow your ships through the Skagerrak would allow for deadly militarization of the Baltic, and threaten the life and livelihoods of countless innoncent millions. In preparation, we have also begun fortifying and strengthening our positions on the western seaboard of our territory, in case of attempted landfall. In addition, smaller outposts have been settled around the Baltic Sea, as well as air fields and ammunition, food and gasoline stockpiles. We are in this, as the saying goes, "for the long haul". Constantine Wolseley was always hopeful that war could be avoided; but knew that it seemed inevitable and unavoidable. He had ordered the movement of his family into the hinterlands of Siberia and told them that he would stand with his soldiers to fight the invaders. Already he had developed a strategy with his officers which was called the Wolseley Plan which he hoped would succeed. Having lived in Russia for quite some time, Constantine Wolseley was prepared to defend the land he governed even though he desired the prevalence of peace over Europe. In letters to his officers, he demanded the immediate fortification of specific parts of the Russian colony and demanded that citizens be told to prepare for aerial bombardment of cities which would include practice runs to bomb shelters. Constantine sighed as he paced in the confines of his office, occassionally staring at the map that was on his desk, still holding out hope for peace. After a while, he began to write a letter to his beloved wife:

"My dearest spouse,

The clouds of war grimacingly loom over our beloved Russia while our nation's enemies prepare to strike at us. It has always been my desire to maintain peace in this continent in order that people may live without fear of death and attack but there are those whose desire for land motivated by nothing more than I am sure is a supposed submissiveness of our nation and its monarch will fuel the hounds of war. I shall not depart from the western half of Russia until this war is finished, my beloved wife, for I wish to stand by those who will pay the ultimate price to defend their homes, their families, and their rightful ownership of this land. Raise the children well upon my absence from you and if I should depart from this world during the course of the war, then I desire that you do not allow my death to prevent you or the children from having a bountiful and pleasurable life.

Calling his secretary, Gertrude, into his office, Constantine told her to swiftly have the letter sent to his wife before turning away to emotionlessly look at the map of Russia that was laid on his desk. He sighed before he begins to study the map for the remainder of the night.

OOC: For strategic reasons and for minor details, what season is it? I'm going on the assumption is summer: it's prime campaigning season. Please say so if I am wrong.

Also, where will Leasath probably attack from (via Georgian front, or through Poland and Ukraine?)? Because that is the front I am fortifying.

Field Marshal Hallestatd was pacing in the Russian grassland, wondering why he had been picked for this job. He was in the middle of freakin' nowhere, defending a colony of a foreign country, a colony that was, no less, in a place he had never heard of.

He hadn't seen this much mud anywhere. Even Aglaland (ooc: a neighboring country to Ottonia) wasn't this bad in the summer, and that place got pretty damn icy in the winters. Where does all this shit come from? he pondered.

His men were digging into the muddy turf, constructing trenches, artillary and AA gun positions, preparing to make assaulting the positions a nightmare. He would be relying on the Ixanian Airforce for airsupport; the Imperial Air Corps was in a bad enough shape without having its forces on foreign deployment. The new M-5B Grizzly Bear tanks were very heavy, and were significantly slowed by the mud. He could see why the Feldarians had developed the M-3B Coyote for their own and ILA use: it was much lighter and was having fewer problems in the mud.

Machine gun positions were being put up, as were mortars. The treaded versions of the army's rocket artillary were faring quite well; switching out the wheels had been a good choice.

Soldiers were complaining quite a bit. These were pretty crappy conditions.

A Commander(Major) in the armoured units approached him. "Sir, our Grizzly's are having a hard time moving in these conditions, sir. What should we do with 'em?"

The Field Marshal had been promoted to his position because of his problem solving skills. It was his forte. "Stick 'em at regular locations along the trenches; we can move 'em when it dries up, and until then it'll be suicide attacking the trenches."

"Yessir. How about the Coyotes?"

"Keep them in reserve, at central locations behind the lines; I want them ready to be rushed to any spot to provide extra firepower." He paused. "Also, have the means to pull the men back if necessary."

"Absolutely, sir."

The fortification process was going well. Attacking from Leasht would be hell on earth. This would be interesting.

The Imperial scouts looked around the beach of the island they were assigned to map, namely the ancient island of Crete.
"Looks like good land", commented Alenas Aleikonos, the lead scout, to his commander. Suddenly, a group of people waled out from behind the set of rocks which masked the pass to inland Crete. Upon seeing the Imperial banner, so long gone from these shores, a wail broke out.
"See if you can calm them down, Al. We don't want problems, especially if the rumors I'm hearing are true, and we have to deal with these people on an ongoing basis" ordered the commander.
"Sir!" was the response. Aleikonos moved towards the group of people, empty hands in plain sight to demonstrate peaceful intent. When he got within reach of the band, one of them reached out to the Imperial double-eagle embossed on his uniform. Upon touching it, the ragged individual immediately flung his arms around the scout and kissed him upon both cheeks. The band broke down crying, and started speaking in a recognisable dialect of the New Chaledonian language.

A few hours later...

Corporal Aleikonos made his report.

"Sir, it seems that these people.....remember us. Not us specifically, but the Empire. They've kept the old traditions, and worship using the old rites. The Anthypatos of the island wants to speak with you. It seems that as long as Northern Rangeria is willing to be reasonable, we have this island, and apparently several others. They've been waiting for our return."

"Hmmmmph.... oh well, let's see what goes here. Hopefully, this is good news...."

A week later....

"Lieutenant Alexius Membraseletos, it is my pleasure to raise you to the rank of Major, and confer upon you the Order of the Imperial Eagle, gold, with two arrows, for initiative in the service and to the benefit of the Empire. Corporal Alenas Aleikonos, it is my pleasure to raise you to the rank of Lieutenant and sponsor you personally to the Imperial Military Academy. In addition, you are awarded the Order of the Standard in silver, for courage above and beyond the call of duty. Furthermore, your two sons are hereby offered palces within the Imperial Household as pages, to be raised to the status of knights of they serve ably and well.

To each member of the 1st Platoon, we award our personal thanks, and a unit citation for the platoon as a whole. In addition, every soldier in the platoon is awarded a month's pay as bonus pay."

The colony was progressing smoothly. Farms tended by their farmers maintained minimal pre-harvest losses to pests and the output was expected to be enough to grant Italy-Slovenia at least partial self-dependency. The first factories were opening outside the city of New Rome and multiple smaller cities scattered mostly across the western coast. Cottages and villas dotted the landscape as the rich and even the middle-class jumped to purchase the cheap land available for sale by the government. Apartments and tenants only existed in the crowded center of New Rome, population ~300,000, alongside the colony's first skyscraper, the New Rome Trade Tower. The port bustled and hustled as ships constantly entered and left, bringing raw goods and colonists and taking back souvenirs, postcards, and slaves.

Meanwhile, the first strategic assets were under construction. A naval harbor was being built near the port, and would be ready by next year to construct and house warships. A sub pen was also being built in an undisclosed location to service submarines. Workers and slaves cleared a small forest north of New Rome and began construction on its first airfield, Italy-Slovenia Airbase 1. The governor smiled. Soon, the colony would get 10 senators instead of 1, like a real province. This was really turning out well. Even the Task Force in northern Europe had not entered battle yet.

The Armed Republic of Caprilusa shall deploy all readily available troops* to the Neo-Ixania borders, DEFCON is to be switched to level 3, and military recruitment shall now step up a notch and more funding shall be pumped into aiding the military forces of Caprilusa.

The calming of the relationships between the Principality and the Empire of New Chalcedon had barely taken place when the Maldorian-Leasathi threat of Ixanian Russia had plunged most of the continent into war. So far the reports from the Black Sea were scattered, but the governor generals of Arkadia in the south and New Rangeria in the north had both been alarmed and their troops reinforced. Many of the settlers had re-enlisted to the newly-formed 1st Arkadia Jaeger and Coastal Jaeger Divisions. Military service was compulsory for every able-bodied male in the Principality, as well as voluntary for those women who wished to join, and to ensure the protection of the new colonies - now Military Protectorates until the area was pacified and civilian government could be installed - the Principality had offered land in compensation for every settler in the reserves who would re-enlist to active service in these divisions.

In Arkadia, the re-enlistment had certainly worked, much thanks to the potential threat that New Chalcedon had formed. There was even talks of establishing auxiliary regiments until a new division could be formally established. Nonetheless, the men and women already enlisted were not idle: re-inforcements arrived from the Principality in the form of coastal batteries, and on many islands of the Aegean tractors rumbled and dynamite spoke loudly as new anti-aircraft and coastal gun batteries were established, along with radar and communication stations.

In Athens, governor general Aleksei Vinhu observed all this. His task was to safe-guard the Aegean Sea from any possible enemy incursion, as well as to guarantee the safety of the 120,000 settlers in Athens and Corinth - along with the 400,000 who had settled along the coast line of Greece and Albania.

1. The status of neutrality, which you have implied for Caprilusa, has responsibilities as well as obligations. In short, if you claim to be neutral and would deny Imperial warships the right of transiting the Bosphorous, you must also deny Leasathi warships the same right, as they and we are on opposite sides of this conflict. Your failure to do so (Leasathi warships are in the Black Sea) marks your fine words of neutrality as nothing more than lies.

2. We are prepared to defend Neo-Ixanian sovereignty of Russia against all comers...including you. Neo-Ixania is an old ally of our nation, and we will not permit her rights to be flouted. I'll make it clear: you will not only fight Neo-Ixania.

3. The tone taken by your message is unacceptable, from the officer of a smaller nation to the Emperor of a much larger nation. Or indeed from any military officer to any head of state. To be blunt, your conduct amounted to blatant discourtesy and arrogance. An apology, from you to us, is in order.

4. Northern Rangeria also wishes to aid her ally. I doubt that you could stand agaisnt the fleets and troops that we have both amassed in the Aegean Sea should you declare against Neo-Ixania.

In short, what we demand is this:

1. Either revoke Leasath's right to transit the Bosphorous (and order his ships to go back into the Aegean, backed with force if he fails to comply), allow us to pass to deal with them ourselves, or openly declare that your neutrality isn't.

2. A personal apology from yourself to His Imperial and Serene Majesty, for your rudeness towards the Empire.

Ultimately, the choice is yours. Neutrality, peace and goodwill on one hand, or war and defeat on the other.

However, it must be admitted, the General Slattery was, during the time of the last letter, intoxicated and surrounded by highly experienced french women, so his judgement would be slightly skewed.

But, I remain firm in my decision.

You are right and wrong at the same time. As a certain actor commented: "Arrogance and stupidity all in the same package. How efficient."

You are right in that our European colonies consist of only Crete, Cyprus, Rhodes and a few smaller islands, held more for sentimental reasons than in a serious expectation of economic benefit.
You are also correct in that you have claimed no neutrality. However, were I you, I would reconsider my position. Maldoria has withdrawn, no-one has heard from Greston, and Leasath is in the process of withdrawing. Do you think that the array of nations who rushed to the defence of Neo-Ixanian Russia will let you stand aside and grab it? You will stand alone; Neo-Ixania will not. In short, you will lose, and I think that when the dust settles, you will find that you have no colonies left.

However, if you think that makes Caprilusa bigger, then the 1 billion-plus people of New Chalcedon invite you to discuss this issue elsewhere.
You are very wrong if you think that the relative sizes of our colonies dictate the relative sizes of our Empires. Put bluntly, if you want to get in a pi**ing contes, you will shortly find out just what kind of Hell on Earth the Imperial Armed Forces can unleash.

Finally, we have seen no apology for the insult to the Empire of New Chalcedon. Given that the Imperial Armed Forces stand ready to extract such apology - painfully - we suggest that it be made.

Standing on the uppermost deck of the Dawn, Admiral Trawn had a commanding view of the pristine French shoreline. Quaint, picturesque villages lined the coast, and he could just make out the funeral procession bearing a trio of cascets down the main road of the nearest township; three more men killed in the defense of Acrela's latest posessions.

The Acrelan banner snapped in the high winds above on the mast, but Trawn hardly noticed as he paced the length of the balcony, grinding his teeth. Several convoys had been spotted moving near the border with the other European colonies, and comm. chatter out of the neighboring dominions was at an all-time high. Something was happening, and for once he had no idea what. The intelligence rolling in from the rest of the Continent indicated a massive buildup of troops... somewhere. No one seemed to know anything above rumor these days, and that made him nervous.

"Admiral?"

Trawn turned, sizing up the young officer that stood before him. He seemed anxious, but not overly-frightened. He had news to deliver, no doubt, but by his demeanor he guessed it was merely urgent, not dangerous. "Yes, corporal?" he asked casually, glancing back to the coast.

"Sir, there's been an attack on the easternmost border... three dozen men are dead."

Now that peaked the Admiral's attention. He swung back to face the corporal, eyes wide. "Who did it? Do we know who's behind the attack?"

"No sir, the brass back home is working on it, but it could have come from anyone..."

"Well get me a line back to Acrela. If someone wants war, we'll give it to them."

Slattery spun the chair around from his desk and walked over to the cabinet in far corner of the room, where he proceeded to crack open a fresh bottle of Jack Daniel's Whiskey and downed the entirity in one gulp.

In the time it took to pump Slattery's stomach, the New Chalcedonian empire had got hold of the emperor's hand-written letter.

Caprilusa only had 3 hours to prepare itself, of which 2 hours so far had been spent searching fruitlessly for any evidence which would lead to the content of the letter the Emperor had sent.

The search was finally abandoned when Slattery woke up, and was quickly questioned as to the aforesaid letter.

In the remaining 43 minutes, all of Caprilusa's troops had to be moved to the West and North-west coasts of the Meditteranean sea, a process which would take hours. By the time the time had elapsed, only a fraction of Caprilusan forces had arrived, scattered hapharzardly over the borders, with sometimes dozens of miles between cohorts.

DEFCON was raised to level 2, and the single 2 megaton biological warhead was loaded, although the people knew it could never be launched, the programme had never been finished. All funding had been redirected directly into the General Slattery's pocket, which had then been directed at providing a better life for himself.

Slattery was relocated from the centre of Istanbul to the outskirts of the Middle Eastern deserts, whilst still remaining in his territory. He watched in his drunken stupor the country arming iself for the possibility of war.

No actual declaration had been made, but, over the course of a fraction of a day, the country had been transformed into a gigantic fortress. Not quite as strong as anticipated by the Minister of War, but still powerful enough.

The government started to wait for the reply, hopefully the only thing that might save their country from their Leader's insanity.

With the combination and incorporation of the Jayatian European territories completed, the Caeser returned back to Jayate.

His nation was at peace and was doing better than it ever had been. Unemployment was down, the Jayatian Riyal's value went up, Jayate had annexed Asian and European territories and rearranged its States into Provinces, and it had itself changed from "The United Federation" to the "United Federated Empire", with the Caeser as the Emperor.

However, Caeser Victor Octavian was not content with this extreme amounts of progress. He was looking for something to do - a way to annex more land. The Asian Institute of Cartography wouldn't give him more Asian land, so he looked back towards European land.

"Sir!" yelled a voice. In came the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister George Johnson

"What is it, Minister?" replied the Caeser.

"Sir! It seems like there is tension in the Black Sea" said Minister Johnson. "It looks like Caprilusa has blockaded Leasathi forces and trapped them in the Black Sea"

"Caprilusa?" said the Caeser, jumping from his chair. "The same Caprilusa at our Southern border?"

"...Yes" said the Minister of Foreign Affairs slowly.

"Yes, yes. Great. Get me the Minister of Defense and the Leaders of the Jayatian Military. Jayate is getting involved, and by the end of the day this Empire will be larger"

Caeser Victor Octavian ordered a Division of 20,000 Jayatian Soldiers to Southern European Province (specifically, the Department of Ukraine) and prepared them for an invasion of the Caprilusian (OOC: forgive me if I'm wrong) territory bordering Jayate's European Province.

The Caeser planned to invade the territory, bombing it with the Air Force and sending in the Jayatian Army. The war, he hoped, would be short, and not too many Jayatian troops were deployed. However, war was not official, and there was a small chance that Caprilusa would just hand the colony to Jayate.

The deployment and Orders of Battle are as follows:

1 Divison of the Jayatian Army consisting of 20,000 troops; the planned invasion force

1 Division of the Jayatian Army consisting of 20,000 troops; they are to defend the Jayatian European Province's Ukraine Department along with the Jayatian Guard deployed there already for Urban Development purposes

1 Air Force Command of 400 Jayatian Air Fighters; 200 Fighters spread out in Jayatian territories to patrol and protect Jayatian skies, 200 Fighters prepared to attack Caprilusa

The Jayatian Soldiers were being carried on Jayatian Soldier Ships - specifically designed for the sole purpose of transporting members of the Jayatian military. The Jayatian Soldier Ships headed for the Baltic Sea where they would let the soldiers out into Department of Poland, European Province. From there, the Jayatian Soldiers would go to the Department of Ukraine, either preparing for defense or for offense.

Meanwhile, Air Craft Carriers were headed with the Jayatian Soldier ships to the Baltic Sea. From there, the Air Fighters would be deployed to either defend Jayate's European Province or to attack Caprilusa's colony.

Due to Jayate spanning across the Indian sub-continent, the country covered both sides of the Ocean-land border of the aforementioned subcontinent. So the ships were expected to reach Jayatian shores in Europe 1 week faster than they would have during the Neo-Ixania War.

It was during the wait for the troops to reach the European continent that Caeser Victor Octavian sent a letter to the Caprilusan leader.

It is an unfortunate truth of life that war is good for business and politics. In the short time that the Northern Rangerians had held a presence in the Mediterranean, in their colony of Arkadia, the threat of war had demanded investments in the defence of the region. Many war-hardened veterans and their families had relocated to the area in search of land to settle, and the northern border with Caprilusan Macedonia and Bosnia had become heavily fortified with the presence of the new Arkadia Jaeger Divisions - as well as a well-armed "frontier population" growing past the one million marker. Athens, the colonial capital, had grown quickly as the center of provincial government and military activity, leading the ancient harbour of Piraeus seeing activity that rivaled the ancient trade that had been fostered in this protective bay.

General Jacobs got out of his tank to the cheers of the crowd. The capital was running crazy. He turned to the soldier next to him. "These people are acting like..."

"...a bomb went off during rush hour" finished the soldier, smiling.

"I was going to say something else, but that works" replied General Jacobs. He patted the man on his back and walked up the steps of the Caeser's Palace.

The Jayatian people were celebrating because of Caprilusa's surrender. The war wasn't necessarily long, but it did cause the destruction of one Jayatian city (Bengalisha in Gaia Province).

However, all damage was being repaired. Caprilusa had surrendered and given up all of its European claims. Slattery was still the leader of Caprilusa, however. This troubled General Jacobs, but he shook that thought out of his mind.

Caeser Victor Octavian greeted Jacobs here. "You're a helluva better leader than the one before you" said Jacobs as soon as the Caeser was in hearing distance. Jacobs had hated the man running Jayate, and supported wholeheartedly Victor Octavian's coup and reforms.

Caeser Victor Octavian saluted the General, who then returned his salute. The war was over, and there was now a "Pax Jayate". At least, this was hoped. Caprilusa's land still wasn't distributed...

The Empire of New Chalcedon is extremely happy that the nation of Shansekia has decided to support the Free City Project. In order to clear up a misunderstanding about the name, Istanbul was the Caprilusan name for the site. Constantinople is ours, as it is the site of the ancient Imperial capital (although whatever calamity destroyed it left little trace).

Regarding administration, the city will be administered by the Empire of New Chalcedon, under (loosely) New Chalcedonian laws and regulations. The main differences are as follows:

1. The Empire of New Chalcedon may not withdraw monies from the administration of the city.

2. The Empire undertakes not to bar any traffic to or from the city, even non-military traffic of enemy states.

3. A council will, in the fullness of time, be formed from the residents of the city, to govern the city. This council may, of course, receive advice from anyone it so chooses - including foreign nations' representatives.

4. The laws and regulations of the Empire of New Chalcedon will be interpreted and enforced with some lenience, particularly in more social matters.

Naturally, any input that Shansekia, or any other nation involved in the project, has will be welcomed, as this is an experimental venture. I hope and trust that this letter clears up any confusion.

The president couldnt help but chuckle when he read the Mephrasian threat. The "full force" of the empire and her allies? He didnt know about the allies, but as for Mephras, he found their military budget to be almost nonexistent and the army itself puny. The grand Kyan army would barely have to lift a finger to crush these fools, but the President decided to play along anyways. It wasnt worth the effort. He would just completely ignore the Mephrasian threats for the moment.

The president couldnt help but chuckle when he read the Mephrasian threat. The "full force" of the empire and her allies? He didnt know about the allies, but as for Mephras, he found their military budget to be almost nonexistent and the army itself puny. The grand Kyan army would barely have to lift a finger to crush these fools, but the President decided to play along anyways. It wasnt worth the effort. He would just completely ignore the Mephrasian threats for the moment.

We gladly accept the exchange of territories, Denmark and Norway for Mozambique and Zambia. We suggest that the handover occur 3 months from this date, in order to give us time to withdraw our forces, and allow our colonists to resettle if they so wish. We trust that any who remain shall be treated equally as any other Kyan citizen. Perfect, our citizens and our soldiers that were en route to Zambia and Mozambique will be rerouted to Scandinavia. 300,000 Kyan soldiers will be sent to the colonies, and a portion of the Kyan fleet will be stationed off of Denmark. We intend for around 10 million Kyan citizens to eventually call the lands of Norway and Denmark home.

We thank you for your gracious offer of aid, however we also feel somewhat foolish for not yet announcing what has occurred. Although Mephras has found Europe and Scandinavia wonderful places with countless opportunities, we have been offered a new opportunity in the continent to the south, Africa. The nation of Logan and Ky has agreed to a deal in which we will exchange domains. We assure you there is no need to worry. However, if ever the Kyans appear aggressive, we assure you we shall return to help defend our European friends.

This divestment from Europe also means that we shall no longer be involved in the free city of Constantinople project, of which you were a chief supporter. Being an honorable nation, our donation shall still stand, however Mephrasian engineers or military will not be involved directly in construction. The possibility of a change of government in the Mephrasian Norway and Denmark had caused a good deal of anxiety in the Military Protectorate of New Rangeria (that in another world would be called Finland and Sweden). First, the naval forces had defended Skagerrak in the Leasathi Crisis. Then, the Principality had been involved in the Caprilusan War. Now, the news of Kyan Government wanting to claim parts of Scandinavia for themselves had caused a good deal of worry. Some malcontents had said that the colonisation effort had been a failed move to begin with.

But, of course majority of the colonists as well as the government back in Halsanki still believed that New Rangeria and Arkadia had been good acquisitions. The southern parts of Finland and Sweden had already received more than 300,000 settlers, and this number was expected to triple within two months, now that the basic infrastructure was in place. Defence-wise, Southern Sweden had already become an attacker's nightmare: defense systems had been built to repel a possible Maldorian invasion, and the trade ports in the south held strong garrisons.

In the south, in the newly-acquired territories of Macedonia and Bosnia, the process of annexing the territories to the Military Protectorate of Arkadia was well under-way. With the help of Albanian and Peloponnesian auxiliaries, the Arkadian Jaegers had quickly pacified the area. Any Caprilusan citizen willing to stay as a Northern Rangerian settler was allowed to stay, and those willing to leave were treated with respect, the armed forces helping in their transportation. Thanks to these new acquisitions and the building of the Free City of Constantinople, the colonisation process had quickened rapidly, leading to the southern colonies already holding a population exceeding one million.

The trickle of early New Chalcedonian settlers had quickly turned into a flood, aided by the sizeable merchant fleet which the Empire boasted. Already, the colonial capital of Cappadocia was under construction, and almost a million citizens of New Chalcedon had settled, and constructio on several key infrastructure projects had been bid on, accepted and begun by New Chalcedonian firms. The construction of the Free City of Constantinople was well underway, and it seemed that soon, the Free City would be open for business.

We first would like to extend our deepest thanks for the offer of support, however, we must assure you that what is currently occurring in Scandinavia is of an agreeable and peaceful nature. We were able to come to a deal with the nation of Logan and Ky, by which we have acquired new lands in Africa. While we certainly wished to avoid war, it was not the deciding factor of our choice to exchange lands.

Unfortunately, having no lands in Europe as of 30 days from now,continuing on the Constantinople project will have to be greatly reduced. Originally, we had thought of scrapping complete involvement, but upon receiving your letter, we decided that we would continue with the project, although on a limited scale. Because of this fact, we cannot rightly accept a seat on the Governing Council. That being said, we have full faith in those nations currently on the council to produce a great city of peace.
