Fluidism Viriline Official Decree
In order to pass on his holy blood to future generations and infuse the nation with power, our beloved Theocrat Charier feels a need to recruit 5000 wives for himself. He desires to take them from other nations,in order to increase the amount of power present in the blood of his nation.
There are specific requirements for each woman. They must be no younger than 17 and no older than 25 (the Theocrat is 30). They must be no shorter than 5 feet and no taller than 6 feet. They must be strong, athletic, and fit. they must be either a B or C cup. Beauty is required.
Dear Sir,
I'm in need of a husband, I'm 18 years old and an expert sailor. Both my parents were sea captains and I always went along with them on their trips. Because Kurona still uses older ships, I'm pretty strong as I would be one to trim the sails in a storm. I would also offer up my 17 year old cousin who is also looking. She grew up on a farm and is very fit and strong her self.

Back on the 'Empress Midori' orbiting Earth Ambassador Sakura Yamamoto read the intercepted transmission once translated.
This diplomatic starship was her office and home as well as place for diplomatic meetings and conferences. Her main place of work was the NSUN HQ but a lot of work got done in Earth's orbit.
This request sounded interesting given that many Neo Kirisuban women couldn't have husbands. However her people had dealt with the shortage of men in their own way.
Needing to find out more she started to research this nation before she considered the issue further.

Basic nation information:
polytheistic theocracy, but those born outside are granted freedom of religion
Ruled by a council of lesser kings guided by a theocrat who has distinguished himself in war and peace
We believe that a person's skills, spirit, and attributes can be partially passed down the generations, which is why it is considered important for the theocrat to have children who will breed for the general populace
Due to necessity, we have long been a militaristic state
The job of the theocrat's wives is simple:
Live in a giant complex of palace/ harems
Stay fit- facilities will be provided
Obey the laws
Be willing to let the theocrat do what he will with you (within reason, of course, but it is vital to your whole job purpose)
Bear the theocrat children
You are not required to work, but if you wish, administrative duties will be provided
Once wives turn 31, they can either be discharged from their duties or take on a variety of things. They can be servants, help care for the theocrat's children, whom they do not see too much of as wives. They can take on administrative work or be entertainers. They can be wet nurses for his children. of course, other careers are also available.
All wives have honorary citizenship.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Dear Theorcrat,
My name is Falis Lacrim (no relation to the ruling family of the same name). I saw your advertisement and wish to join.
I am 5'5" tall and weigh 120 pounds. I have red hair and light brown eyes. I am 22 years old, fresh out of college with a degree in art.
I believe myself to be fit for the job because I volunteered in the local militia while in college and I also did basketball. I think that dance team gave me flexibility too.
I should think I'm beautiful enough.
Sincerely,
Falis Lacrim

Sakura put the message round the ship first to see if any of the crew were interesed.
None were because of several reasons. Their own duty to the state and their own people were two of them but they couldn't believe a nation could be so backward thinking and allow this especially in a nation that still allowed slavery. They found this abhorant that a woman was treated like a mere possession.
An unnamed ensign summed up the general feelings of the crew by saying "I'd never marry him if I was the last Neo Kirisuban and he was the only boy."
So the the message never got transmitted to the homeworlds.

Important post by Haakon VI, King of Charrn Province, head of council of kings, second in authority to the theocrat himself
Greetings, my fellow nations.
It had come to my attention that an informational post on this site had contained some distressing information about slavery and an apparent lack of gender rights inside our borders. An immediate investigation found that this post had not been authorized by the theocrat nor anyone on the council of kings, but instead by a member of an ultratraditionalist splinter group inside our domains. The man has been arrested and charged with false advertising, as we could not think of any other charges.
Some clarifications:
Slavery has been illegal for the past 112 years, 5 months, and 13 days.
Once a wife turns 31, many careers are available to her. The old limitations were abolished 53 years ago.
What was said about wives' lives, duties, and citizenships are correct.
What was said in reply to prior applications was the only part of the post that was authorized by a government official and still stands.
Corrections have been made accordingly.
As to the previously expressed sentiment that our women were treated like possessions, they are not. In respect to the duties of the theocrat's wives, the only reason he has so many of them is so that he can have children. That is their entire job- however, they are pampered and are very well-treated while doing it, and there are several other activities which they may participate in during their tenures, which include administrative work, sports, art, etc.
We hope that we have clarified any misunderstadings.
Sincerely,
Haakon VI

Seeing the retraction of this information got the Ambassador thinking. Did they have something to hide or was it false information that had been passed onto the international community?
There was only one way to get at the truth and that was to pay the Theocrat's nation a visit. It was also an extension of their mission to Earth so they could do cultural exchanges and learn about the nations of the planet they had came from.
So she composed a message planning on making the visit herself along with a samurai escort as befitted her rank.
So the message was sent using old fashioned radio as follows to the nations government:
For transmission to the office of the Theocrat.
My name is Ambassador Sakura Yamamoto representing the Neo Kirisuban Space Federation in the NSUN. I am also the effective point of contact with Earth nations.
Given that our homeworlds are 30 light years away from Earth I doubt many people from Earth will ever see them so our mission of exploration and cultural understanding continues while our diplomatic starship is in Earth orbit.
I would like to open up diplomatic contact with the Theocracy of Fluidism Viriline starting with a meeting with myself and an appropriate government official so we can figure out what form these diplomatic relations could take if successful.
I have also attached a summary of our space faring nation along with this letter (aka a factbook) so you may understand us better.
We follow the code of bushido and the samurai who may well come with me are honour bound to wear the two swords.
I look forward to hearing from you.
The message was sent on and now she had to wait. A reply would take longer since they used normal radio waves but she was patient as she looked over other work she had to do. The latest NSUN repeal for starters.

To Tocrowkia:
Not really. Some Chinese emperors had 7000, and our religion involves the theocrat spreading his blood around the population through large amounts of children. Since one women can only have (usually) one child every two years or so, this would not produce numbers closer to our liking. Also, if only a few women had the children, it would be far too stressful and perhaps painful for them, and they would suffer from serious calcium deficiencies, leading to bad teeth and bones (this happened to colonial American women). The large number of wives produces the required amount of children while spreading the burden. And the number's been done before.

A factbook for our own nation will come up shortly. Please take a look. i'll post a link here when its done.

Back on her starship Ambassador Yamamoto looked over the brief reply with interest. More information would follow later and with knowledge about each other diplomacy had a chance of being the next step.
It would take special permisson for a Neo Kirsuban to accept the Theocrats offer. That meant going to the Empress Midori's Captain since the crew were under military law.
However Sakura thought a N-K wife would be a good idea and the ships crew certainly fell in the age range he was after as well as matching his other requirements. It was an extension of their mission of cultural exchanging and this certainly qualified as extended away team duty.
Once more information was received a decision could be made but Sakura left her cabin to discuss this with Captain Sato in principle.
She also knew she could run into the Theocrat's NSUN ambassador at some point as well. Again that was a neutral place to talk.

After hearing of your search for wives 500 women, fitting the requirements provided, have announced their interest to marry you. Should you accept them, we wonder what sort of transportation you want. For example we could have them parachute-jump over your capital, for a small fee of seven million USD. Other alternatives include a giant gondola, arriving hidden in 500 boxes, or plain just taking an airliner. We await your answer.

It was getting dangerously close to printing hour, and the reporting team for the state-owned Rebirth Times were out of stories.
Ever since the decision was made by the President to semi-deregulate the newspaper industry and allow some extent of independent press, the Times had had to incorporate more and more sensational tabloid stories into its once propaganda-dominated format in order to compete with the mass of new state-overseen (but not state-funding) gossip rags. But tonight, the well had run dry, and the tired late team could feel a sense of loss in the air.
That was, until a young male reporter, Eric, burst into the newsroom, carrying a printout of some form of international telegram.
"I take it you've found something," said Marie, the chief editor.
"More than just something - take a look at this baby!" replied Eric, excitedly handing her the telegram.
"Foreign theocrat needs 5000 wives? ...That's perfect! ...If a little distasteful, " noted Marie, studying the telegram.
"Do a search on this theocrat," said Marie, "and see if you can find any juicy details to make this front-page news. Hidden past, public opinions, whatever. The government needs - we need - the money from the sales!"

Now Sakura could see what Fluidism Viriline was like she could see a lot similarities to her own warrior culture.
So posting this upload into the ship's computer and giving a little time there was a few crew members coming to see the captain as they were seriously pondering the idea of an extended away mission and the chance to sample a new culture.
There was a 17 year old botanist, a 19 year old xeno-archelogist and her twin sister who was also in botany.
The Komatsu twins had never been parted before so this made them the favourites to be let to go.
The captain and ambassador would ponder the final decision but they could only let two crew go and it looked like it would be the twins.

I uploaded the information your foreign affairs department sent to us into our library computers.
Three crew members asked to be allowed to apply to be wives for the Theocrat and we can suggest two for yourself.
Ari and Aiko Kotamsu are 19 years old and twin sisters. They both hold the rank of Ensign in the exploration fleet.
Ari is a Botanist and Aiko is a xeno-archelogist. I am sure they will be fine representives of the Federation as well as good wives.

They are identical with blue-grey eyes, tanned olive skin and long black hair. They're also 5' 1" tall and very slender. It would be appreciated if our shuttlepod could be met by one of your nations jet aircraft and we can follow them into an airport or base of your choice.
Our starship is in orbit and shuttling down is so much easier for everyone. We are changing the reason why your people are banned from sensationalist media about the theocrat to severe disapproval of your nation's ban on religion and public worship.
To Neo Kirisubo:
We will gladly meet the shuttle with one of our aircraft. Just fly over any one of our cities, and we will send a jet to guide it to Tek'Oza International Airport. They will be met by a representative of the theocrat there (the theocrat himself will unfortunately likely be busy at the moment trying to impose some leverage on Golden Rebirth, for reasons mentioned in our above message to them), and will after a short reception be guided to their new home by a Talwarist, a member of the theocrat's elite guard.
By the way, can they ride horses? We can provide another mode of transport if necessary, but tradition involves the wives riding in on mares.
Neo Kirisubo
01-04-2008, 19:28
Sakura read the reply with interest.
They would be met and escorted to Tek'Oza International Airport which would be very helpful.
Horses were unexpected. They were known about but they hadn't been able to take them when they left New Kirisubo.
However the twins were granted leave from their duties to learn the basics of riding a horse in a holodeck. This would delay their arrival slightly but they felt they could learn enough in a day and fulfil the local traditions.
So as Ari and Aiko practiced the following message was sent back. She'd have a go herself as well just in case.
##
To: the Theocrats office
From Ambassador Sakura Yamamoto
We are happy to be escorted into Tek'Oza International Airport. Regarding the tradition of riding a mare I have talked to Ari and Aiko and although they have never ridden a horse before they could learn the bare basics in a day in a holodeck. They are confident of that.
They are smart girls and very quick learners so this will not cause a long delay. We will enter your airspace in two days time at 0700 hours local time ready for the escort to the airport and ready to honour the traditions after meeting with his Theocrats honoured representative.
They will arrive wearing Neo Kirisuban ceremonial dress kimono and hakama but we are open to advice about cultural considerations. For now they'll be dressed like Neo Kirisuban brides. Photo attached.

From the office of Theocrat Charier to Ambassador Sakura Yamamoto:
First off all, we would like to apologize if the equestrian details caused any trouble for you. And don't worry, the horses bred for occasions like this are placid and gentle. It really isn't too hard- they'll be following the Talwarist. Just stay on the mount and they'll be fine. Anyway, they only have to ride the first and last bits of the path to the Ruby Fort. The whole middle section they can take a yacht (we bet you FT people don't do much animal or water transport, so this should be something new for you). the whole custom actually stems from a civil war centuries ago when a petty king declared himself Theocrat with the help of some priests. The fighting expanded to the whole country and both combatants and noncombatants. To keep their wives safe, they agreed to let a certain few stretches of road be safe zones for the wives, and whoever hurt them there would die. However, the entire middle stretch of these roads was uninhabited but for the occasional trade caravan or at the time bands of soldiers. They didn't trust each other, so their wives started swimming or boating across large bodies of water whenever they could to avoid the roads. Now the roads are safe and more populated, with towns nearby, but we still commemorate the events with the riding/swimming or boating practice. It's also a practical thing. Several wives were unable to ride and especially unable to boat or swim- some drowned- so it's a bit of a basic skills review session.
The crisis itself was settled when the original Theocrat fought the false one. His war elephant knocked the pretender off his horse and stomped on him. There has been no serious rebellion ever since.
The clothing is perfectly fine. They only need to start wearing our style of clothing after they have settled in.
We request that they not come wearing any weapons. Everyone else is allowed to be moderately armed if they so desire, but here brides do not come with weapons.
Your escort will be waiting.

We always seek to honour the traditions of a culture we are dealing with. So our crew members learning to ride a horse is something that they expect to do from time to time.
On our old homeworld we had horses and boats and although we don't have four legged riding beasts on Kirisubo Primus or Beta we still have plenty of oceans and bodies of water.
Boats are not unknown to us and water sports including sailing are known back home.
The twins will be unarmed and we will meet as arranged now everything is sorted out

(( fast forwarding slightly ))
Two days later as arranged both twins were in their bridal kimonos and their hair and makeup immaculate. They also each carried a posey of flowers taken from the hydroponics bay.
Ambassador Yamamoto piloted the shuttle herself as they left the Empress Midori entering into the atmosphere. Locating the city they arranged to pick up the escort was the easy part.
Dressed in her red formal kimono tied with a gold obi she deftly handled the small craft while she waited for her escort. There was also a uniformed female samurai with them wearing the swords and a holstered Walther PPK. The Ambassador also carried this pistol in her obi. These were strictly for self defence but no trouble was expected.

Grand Talwarist Ram Sharma piloted the fighter jet towards the glowing object entering the atmosphere. He fought his better instincts to fire all his weaponry, as he knew precisely what was in it. Instead, he guided the shuttle to Tek'Oza International Airport. They touched down. Forget fighting the wild tribes for two years straight on the border- this was the most nerve-wracking assignment he had ever been given. he exited his jet and walked over to the shuttle. He was about to open the door when two things stopped him. First, he wasn't used to the machine, and he didn't want to break anything. Second, he didn't want the ambassador interpreting this as sexism.
So he stood respectfully outside and waited.

The wings folded into the top of the shuttlepod hull after they neatly touched down.
Ambassador Yamamoto opened the door of the small van sized craft and the female uniformed samurai wearing both swords in her belt bowed to Ram.
They were all small women this being typical of the species but they had assumed male traditional roles and done them well.
The ambassador was next to follow and then the brides emerged also bowing in welcome.
"Good morning. I'm ambassador Sakura Yamamoto. Thank you for escorting us in" she politely said after bowing to him.

Ram led them in. He didn't talk. That wasn't his job, and he didn't trust himself to do so anyway.
As they made their way to the lounge, they passed a small military airstrip. Two pilots were practicing their sword fighting. One nearly decapitated the other. It seemed a lot safer than this.
Finally they made it into the lounge. He motioned to the three to sit down on the chairs which had been provided and assumed a guard position behind the chairs with his talwar* (OOC: a type of Indian sword which can thrust and slash) made of katana-class steel at the ready.
A man in a suit, carrying a small, ornate pen which doubled as a dagger, entered.
"Hello," he said, and bowed. "I am Diplomatic Receiver Than Obos. My job is to receive diplomats."

Sakura bowed again and said "Good morning Mr Obos. I'm Ambassador Sakura Yamamoto and I'm pleased to meet you. May I also introduce Samurai-Lt Yoko Kabuki and the honourable Theocrat's brides.

The Samurai bowed her head and Aiko and Ari bowed in their wedding kimonos as they were introduced.

"Ah, yes," said Obos. "The young women themselves whom we are here for in the first place." He bowed to them and sat down, hoping that Sakura would do the same. If she did not, he would have to stand, and sometimes diplomatic receptions could last for hours.
Two servants came in with small sandwiches and a bottle of wine. Refreshments were offered around.
"First," began Obos, "I would like to say that Ari and Aiko Komatsu can expect to see more of Grand Talwarist Ram Sharma- he was your escort, by the way, but I doubt he gave his name. Anyway, GT Sharma will be escorting you to the Ruby Fort, and if you have any questions on the way about anything at all you can ask him."
Ram felt as though he had been stabbed- he had spent so long in the army that he could barely talk to non-soldiers- but he would do his best. Besides, he had heard that this culture fought too. Maybe he could pull this off. His expression didn't change one bit, however, and neither did his stance.
"Now," said Obos," do you have any questions to ask of me before your horses arrive? Please, ask anything you like."
Neo Kirisubo
02-04-2008, 19:16
Sakura also sat and politely thanked the servants who brought the refreshments and snacks.
"Mr Obos we looked over the data upload and it answered most of the questions we would have had to ask" Sakura replied giving Ram a little nod and smile.
"Whats the seasons and weather like here? We're more used to tropical weather and the occasional storms back home" she gently asked sipping her glass of wine.
Ari was the most nervous of the sisters and it showed. She took a little wine to calm her nerves with her sisters help. They both took a few of the sandwiches as well.
The presence of a Samurai would show Ram a little of the warrior culture the Neo Kirisubans had. The sword handles looked ornate but these were functional blades and meant to be used in battle.
Fluidism Viriline
02-04-2008, 21:37
"We don't have too much variation in the weather," Obos said, "but some of it does depend on where you are. While almost all of the country has the same weather- temperate, 4 seasons- the mountains tend to be colder with longer winters and shorter summers. In the southernmost reaches, winters are simply a somewhat colder extension of fall and spring.
"We have storms every season, though spring has the most rain and winter the most snow. Right now it's spring here.
"Fall is the harvest season and the leaves change color. It's spectacular- you should enjoy it."
Obos knew he shouldn't say the next bit, but he did anyway.
"Could I possibly inspect that shorter sword of yours, Ambassador Sakura?"
Neo Kirisubo
02-04-2008, 21:56
Sakura still wore a blade only hers was slightly shorter than a wakizashi. It was a straight blade but just as a sharp and had the same handle and red scabbard as the samurai's swords. It was a light sword but strong all the same.
So drawing her own sword she rested it on the sleeve of her kimono. It was obviously a live single edged blade and the sharp cutting edge caught the light. Then she gently spoke.
"This is a standard issue sword in the Neo Kirisuban exploration fleet. Only samurai like Lt Kabuki wear the two curved blades. Everybody else either uses this sword or a foot long honour dagger and they're expected to be able to know how to use a blade to defend their honour.
We still use swords in battle particularly since most of our combat is usually ship boarding or defence actions where a sword comes in useful. We still use the phaser along with the blade because of our warrior past and heritage."
Fluidism Viriline
02-04-2008, 22:43
Ram suddenly spoke up: "Tell me, when you practice with your swords, do you use the real ones or some sort of substitute? And what would would this defense of your honor consist of? And do you ever use shields? And.."
At the same time, a string of horses which were heavily decorated was led up to the external door. There were two chestnut mares, two bay mares, and a black stallion. Ram was thankful, as it cut short his time to make a fool of himself.

02-04-2008, 22:52
"Grand Talwarist Sharma, I think we may have a lot to talk about on this journey. I can answer your questions while we ride if you want" Sakura gently replied and slipped her blade back into its scabbard when the horses arrived.
The questions could well be answered on the journey as she bowed to Mr Obos again.
"Mr Obos it looks like our journey is about to begin but hopefully we may meet again" she gently added as she rose to her feet.
Ari was calm again and Lt Kabuki walked over to where the brides were. The crew on a Neo Kirisuban starship was like a sisterhood since they had to spend so long together in close quarters.
Sakura smiled softly and was ready for the next stage of the journey having also practiced on a holodeck horse but nowhere as good as the brides were.

We did experiment with shields briefly in the ancient Kirisuban empire but although the peasant soldiers loved their light bamboo shields the warrior caste never adopted them. Therefore the idea fell into disuse.
Our swords can parry quite well although and some samurai can even use both swords at the same time."

He replied, "Well, that's interesting. Most people here only use one. We sometimes use shields, though, and we practice with real weapons. Injuries only occur rarely, and we have medics to deal with those."
They passed a small village surrounded on all sides by fields of various produce. He gestured towards two soldiers from the local garrison practicing with swords. ne disarmed the other and knocked him down, earning the victory. "Exactly like that," Ram said. "We use mostly older weapons to drive off the barbarian tribes on our border who occasionally come in, and it's best to know how to use melee weapons to every possible advantage. We also like to know their real weight, etc."
He asked again, "So, do you have any questions, about the country, the theocrat, procedure, or anything?"

Sakura listened intently as they wound their way through the pleasant countryside as well as witnessing the sword play.
The horses as promised were behaving themselves and even Sakura could handle her steed.
"We've been told a little of the reason why brides ride on horseback on the way to the Theocrats home.
We also try and honour local tradition as much as possible when we visit a culture.
So what will happen during and after the journey?" she replied curious about the ceremony behind the marriage of Aiko and Ari to the Theocrat.
They'd be two of many wives but also in a unique position to see another civilised warrior culture in action.

To Naigleb: this is entirely by choice, we don't buy people. Recruit much less women who are actually choosing of their own volition to od this and we will be fine. Don't try to sell us women.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Well, during the journey I'll be guiding you through the countryside and a bit of forest for a while. Then, to cover the water part of our journey, we've got a small yacht on a large lake, Lake Anzat. We'll be on that for maybe two hours- and I'd recommend getting some sleep there, it's getting pretty late. While the yacht itself is solar powered, Ari and Aiko should each take turns steering, so that the original meaning of the thing isn't entirely lost. Then we will ride some more and get to the Ruby Fort in the early morning. That's one of the 5 palaces where the wives of the theocrat have traditionally lived. It's a beautiful place with ample grounds- you should enjoy living there.
"Now I should probably tell you about the wedding. Due to the constant flow of people, especially men, in our older times, weddings have usually been pretty casual. As the brides of the theocrat, your weddings will be similar, but more formal.
"The procedure goes as follows. We have large mines up north and in the mountains, and we have extracted many different precious stones from there. These have been turned into little tokens. You are to etch your names onto one of your choice, and they will be placed on a wall with those of the other brides. I've seen some of the older walls belonging to other theocrats- they must be worth a fortune. Then, you will be shown a large amount of rings containing similar stones. Each of these has his name etched on it, along with 'Fluidism Viriline'. While the tokens you made only contain your names, since he is only marrying you, the rings you are given contain two names, because while you are directly marrying him, indirectly you are marrying the state.
"After that, some vows are read, you agree, and to symbolize the nation's traditional sharing of resources, you eat a little bread whose baking he supervised. That's the wedding. You are then married, and you will be helped settle into your areas in the fort. If you want, they can be next to each other's- I'll arrange that.
"Normally, the theocrat himself might not be able to make it to the wedding, which is why his stuff was prepared in advance- he's going to have a lot of brides, which correlates to little time. However, since there's only two of you, foreign hostilities are currently low, and the barbarians tend to be quiet in spring, he will almost certainly be able to make it."
They continued to ride through the deep forest. He hoped the dark scenery didn't bother Ari- she seemed a bit sensitive, though maybe that was just the bridal outfit. Then it began to clear a little, and a brilliant blue lake appeared a few hundred feet off.
"That's Lake Anzat," Ram said.

Sakura listened to the description of the journey and the wedding intently nodding from time to time.
"The twins have never been separated since they came of age so I'm sure they'd like to be close to each other even now" Sakura asked as they approached the lake with the sisters deciding who'd take the first leg of steering the yacht.
"It'll also be good to witness all of this and perhaps even see the honourable Theocrat in person if affairs of state allow" she also calmly added.
Aiko was more used to water sports so she agreed as they discussed this in their own language. Ari still had some pre-wedding jitters while her sister seemed perfectly calm about this.
Even identical twins had their differences and Aiko was always the calmer of the sisters.
Then it was time to dismount and board the yacht.

As they were boarding, Ram looked up.
"Yeah, that's the theocrat's helicopter," he said, helping the horses into their on-deck stalls. "I think you can expect him to be present- it was going to the Ruby Fort, he's living there this month."
He unlocked the door to a small but well-furnished cabin and took out some food and coffee. He filled a mug and went up to an observation post, holding his assault rifle out in case of emergency. First, though, he handed some keys to Sakura for access to some bedrooms for her and the others. He also handed over some radios to them- they could contact him without shouting.
"Call me if you need anything," he said to them. "You can start whenever," he said, while gesturing toward the simple controls and steering wheel.

03-04-2008, 22:35
"Thank you Grand Talwarist Sharma" Sakura replied also passing out the radios.
Lt Kabuki and Ari were the first to get some rest as Aiko took the controls of the yacht.
So they were underway as the bride steered the boat out of its moorings and Sakura went up on deck confident in her former crew members abilities.
This marriage would take the twins away from the fleet for good but their loss would be the Theocrat's gain. He was going to marry two very smart women after all.

(fast forward to the next morning)
GT Sharma woke out of his semi-meditative state at last as they rode through the forest, this time a lighter and more deciduous one. His charges appeared to be well, and he had stayed up longer. As they passed a curve on the trail, they could see a sprawling city stretching out beneath them. At the far end of it was a large red compound with large grounds scattered periodically throughout the area.
"That's Urbi Dlal," Ram said in explanation. "The reason it's so big but organized is because it's one of the five designated Administrative Cities, one around each of the palaces where the wives live. Each new construction is carefully planned. The place is filled almost entirely with government officials and workers, their families, and soldiers, along with support staff. The Ruby Fort is over there." He gestured toward the compound.
He slowed his horse and signaled for them to do the same.
"Now listen," he said seriously. "All of the theocrat's wives are equals, irregardless of prior social status. Now there's going to be a very mixed crowd in there. You'll find one daughter of each regional king, you'll find farmers, and you'll find everybody in between. But remember- as long as you hold that job and someone else does too, you're equals, even if you were a private and she were a general. Don't let anybody put you down. On the same note, don't put anybody else down.
"I'm sorry," he chuckled, speeding up his horse again. "I've jut noticed that sometimes there are social tensions in our military, and I've heard that occasionally people suffer from insecurity problems about class in your positions. Now, while I can fix problems among the recruits by whacking their heads together and sending the greater idiot to clean the latrine, I can' do either of those to you people, so I had to say it."

The Neo Kirisuban party was well rested after a night on the boat and now there was the next stage of the journey in front of them. The Ruby Fort.
This time it was the quiet Ari who replied saying "My sister and I understand. Our society enjoys great equality anyway so we never put anybody down anyway back home."
Sakura chuckled slightly and said "I know exactly what you mean. I was an executive officer on a exploration fleet starship before I became an ambassador for my worlds."

Ram led them through a checkpoint and into the city. The place was safe, he knew, with no crime whatsoever, but it was still a security nightmare, and all his senses were quietly screaming to get out, especially with all the attention the brides and their horses were attracting. Then the morning breakfast rush for single young men who had never learned how to cook well began, and the streets cleared. He led them through a side alley filled with offices. It was quiet but for the sounds of keyboards and the occasional voice passing instructions to a secretary. The road sign read "Agriculture Sector B- Division of Livestock- Subdivision of Pastures-Offices 19-36." Nice and organized, just like a good military camp.

Sakura had yet to see a reason to draw her concealed pistol or her sword but she stayed alert just like the samurai was.
This was an important diplomatic mission which could lead onto other things and further relations and she didn't want anything to go wrong either.
The camp seemed to be well organised as she seen the queue for breakfast commence.
She took in the sights and sounds of this city where the wheels of government were turning. a reminder of the civil service and necessary red tape back home came to mind as well as their journey continued through the city.

As they neared the tall, red walls of the Ruby Fort, they passed a barracks filled with that rare thing in the country- female soldiers.
"This," Ram said, gesturing out, "is one of the few places that you'll find female soldiers in the country. We have very few, and almost all of them who pass are sent here, since we've found that female guards at the Fort cause less trouble. The guards directly assigned to the city itself are almost entirely male, though."
One of the guards saluted him, and as he saluted back, she opened the gate. They rode into a vegetation-filled courtyard sprinkled with statues. They dismounted, and as their horses were led away, a man came up.
"Greetings," he said. "I am Lord Thos. I run this palace." He turned to Ram. "You are dismissed." Ram saluted him, bowed to the women, and left to get some breakfast. Thos took them to a table filled with breakfast foods. "You must be hungry," he said. "have something to eat."

Sakura smiled slightly seeing the female warriors. Something she knew a lot about from her own culture and could appreciate.
So when she was introduced to Lord Thos she bowed in return as did her people and introduced herself, the samurai escort and the brides.
"Some breakfast would be nice Lord Thos. Its been a long journey for us.
I'm Ambassador Sakura Yamamoto, my sword wearing colleague is Samurai-Lt Yuko Kabuki of the Neo Kirisuban Exploration fleet and the brides from my nation are Ari and Aiko Komatsu."
Having been invited to eat Ari looked at the range of food on the table. Most of it she recognised and she settled for a bowl of bran flakes. Her sister settled for some toast.

As Lord Thos was about to say something, an aide came up and whispered in his ear. He turned to the Neo Kirisubans.
"I'm sorry, I have to go now," he said. "Something came up, and the theocrat- he's here, you know- feels that I've been growing fat and complacent over the years, though he only said the second- which is probably true. I have to go North- we have an... animal problem. Valya can guide you around, though."
Valya, the aide, waited for them to finish eating. Then she asked them if there was anywhere they wanted to see in the palace before the wedding, which wouldd take place in a few hours.

The Neo Kirisubans could always relate a lot easier to women so with bows and smiles Sakura politely replied while they ate a quick breakfast "Valya, a general tour would be nice. You can surprise us."
Not really knowing this culture too well yet this seemed to best plan. An overview now would help the brides settle in quicker and give her a good idea of how a diplomatic contact could procede.
So far she'd nothing to complain about. Their hosts were polite, courteous and sometimes curious but they were seeing to get on well with anybody they talked to.

Valya first led them outside to a long series of gardens filled with fountains and artwork.
"These," she said, "are the Dragon Gardens. Legend has it that a dragon move its hoard here and slept in a real cave about 500 feet that way, and that is supposed to be why so many precious stones were found here. We now attribute that to geology, but the dragons are good for culture, and several groups in our nation, including the priests, scientists, and miners in the mountains, think that the legends may have something to them after all. They look into it every once in a while."
She then led them to a large hall filled with polished wooden tables.
"This is the primary dining area."
They went outside to a large sporting area complete with pools, sports fields, archery ranges, etc.
"These are the primary exercise areas. We do have some indoor ones. We also have some weapon training areas- that should interest you two. Part of your job is staying fit, so you should be here on a regular basis."
They went inside, as Valya said they were running low on time.
"This is the temple," she said, pointing to a solemn stone enclosure with strange, beautiful lights coming through the door. "The theocrat himself holds services there once in a while, and there are always at least two services each day for those who wish to come."
As they walked, they passed several statues and shrines.
"These are scattered throughout the palace," Valya said. "The most common ones here are Haton, the male god of love and sexuality, and Ayla, his female counterpart. Ninya, the goddes of fertility and all to do with the birth and care of children, is represented frequently too. There are many military god shrines near the barracks."
Finally, they came passed through several ornate guarded doors until they reached a vast area. It was divided into 500 equal sections. Each was moderately sized and contained a comfortable four-poster bed, two chairs, a dresser, a small table, and a chest for possessions. The areas were divided by various light and heavy curtains, though if one wanted one could pull down wooden shutters for even more privacy. That was generally unnecessary, as all that could really be seen behind each curtain were various shadows and shifting lights. Alternately, if you wanted to connect areas, you could join up the curtains on both sides.
"These," said Valya, "are your living areas. I hope you are pleased by them. The soldier you were traveling with arranged for the brides to be situated next to each other over there." She gestured toward the far end. "We understand that we do not expressly provide for the religious beliefs of those who come from foreign lands, but it is a common practice to set up a small shrine inside the living area. If you ever need assistance with anything, all you have to do is ring a bell and an aide, such as myself, will come and help.
Unfortunately, we couldn't cover everything, but you will be able to explore most of the palace and some of the city during your stay. Now it should be time for last-minute preparations for the wedding. Come."

04-04-2008, 19:54
The Ruby Fort took the Neo Kirisubans breath away.
The gardens were a botanists paradise and the legends about a dragons horde was enough to get the xeno-archeologist interested. Both brides would have a chance to pursue their old jobs in some way.
Ari and Aiko were looking forward to using the leisure facilities and did promise to make full use of them. Sakura had also called the ship once they reached their chambers and a gift from their shipmates was beamed down.
With pooled replicator rations they'd got together to provide a range of kimono's for different times of the year. Some were cotton and could be used in the summertime. Others were more beautiful formal ones and there was also some beautiful silk nightwear as well. Sexy little items which would make time in bed and with the Theocrat complete.
They'd already taken a small bag of personal keepsakes each with them and they wouldn't need much else from their life on a starship.
They also had their wooden training swords beamed down as well so they could continue to work out with them.
Then with time for last minute freshing up and makeup adjustments they were all ready for the wedding, Lt Kabuki also getting into a cream formal kimono for the ceremony.
Now it was showtime..

Valya lead the sisters into the temple itself. It was time to cement the marriage. Three priests approached in billowing robes that were many different shades of blue. Meanwhile, a young man himself stood up. He looked to be in his early 20s, but...
"That's the theocrat," whispered Valya, bowing to him. The tall, well-built man whose skin was in the darker tan range grinned at her and for a longer period of time at Ari and Aiko. He was also pleased to see the rings being worn so well.
One priest went to each sister.
"Do you, Ari Komatsu/ Aiko Komatsu, fully understanding the rights, duties, and obligations of being a wife of Theocrat Charier and a citizen of Fluidism Viriline, wholeheartedly pledge yourselves to the ranks thereof?"
At the same time, the theocrat was being read his own, different vows. They then heard a clear "I do" coming from his direction. His voice was somewhat musical but very firm.

"We do" Ari and Aiko said in unison sealing their vows with these simple words.
In the background Sakura watched with her samurai escort as these two young women made the most important vows they'd probally ever make.
She doubted she'd marry herself but she still liked a good wedding. The Theocrat was a handsome man and he would be lucky to have the twins as wives. They did most things outside their jobs together as twin sisters do even sharing the same quarters on board ship.
Even here they wouldn't be separated and could put this closeness to good use as wives.

He turned to them. "I am so sorry sorry, but I have to do something quickly. Apparently some aspiring juvenile engineers succeeded in damming a small river down south. Then the damn broke, and I have to organize cleanup after the flooding and decide how to deal with them." He chuckled. 'Maybe I should hire them for our Engineering Corps. Anyway, feel free to stay until tomorrow afternoon, though by no means are we going to keep you here if you want to leave. Valya can take care of you and help Ari and Aiko settle in." He bowed and walked away, pausing only to turn and say "I'll be back tonight" to Ari and Aiko.

Ari and Aiko bowed to their husband and Sakura replied quickly "I know all about affairs of state. I'll stay as well although I really should retrieve our shuttlecraft as well." Then their host departed.
With another state crisis for their host to deal with and two giggling happy newly weds to mother for a little while they retired to Ari's quarters as the twins organised their new wardrobes with Valya helping them settle in and showing Sakura her quarters.
When not in kimono's or night wear they'd be wearing the normal clothes for Fluidsim Viriline. For now Ari and Aiko changed into swim wear and dressing gowns and made their way to the pool to swim.
Here they'd start to interact with the other wives as Lt Kabuki beamed back to the Empress Midori her duty complete.
Sakura beamed to the shuttlepod and flew it here to save time later on. She was sure the strange winged vehicle would attract attention but it wouldn't do any harm in the grounds of the Ruby Fort.

The theocrat returned a few hours later. While the wives and staff ate in their respective groups, he dined on a simple meal alone. He would probably visit the wives' living quarters in an hour or so. He had to, it was his obligation.
He had hired the boys.
He called Valya, his personal assistant while in the palace, to him.
"Tell Dranex Hax to ask Ambassador Sakura about the basis of phaser technology," he said. "And i'll be done in about an hour."

Ari and Aiko had gotten word their husband was back and after their swim and dinner they prepared for him.
They showered and lotioned their bodies and on went the sexy black lingerie. This was covered by red silk kimono's for now and they planned to do this together just as they did most things. Add some perfume and makeup and the effect was complete.
They'd also received local long dresses to add to their wardrobe and Ari and Aiko selected colours such as lemon and cream. They prefered brighter colours and had settled for a mixture of short and sleeveless dresses. They doubted they'd be wearing long trousers again but they always liked dresses and skirts anyway.
##
Meanwhile Sakura had changed after dinner into a cream coloured kimono which had cherry blossom designs on it. The day was cooling slightly as she went to the meeting with the young engineer wearing traditional Neo Kirisuban dress and wooden raised sandals.
Bowing to him she knew how much she could tell him. She could guide the Theocrats people in the right direction for starters anyway.
"Mr Hax I presume" she cheerfully said introducing herself and hoping he could understand what she was about to tell him. It was rather technical.

Hax was taking notes actively. If he could get this, Fluidism Viriline would ascend to a whole new level.

Valya was thinking. The theocrat had told her to select an appropriate gift to send back with the Neo Kirisuban diplomat. Then she hit on an idea. Horses! The Neo Kirisubans only had simulations of those. She would send two mares and two stallions and some food, along with necessary information.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Theocrat Charier was in a happy mood. Life was good. He walked through all the guarded doors into the wives' living area, saluting the guards on the way. The air was always heady in here. So many of the women wore perfumes and scented lotions. Some burned incense as part of their faiths. Add to that the palace scents, and it was enough. Then one had to factor in the noise all of their activities and chatter made, and his own knowledge of what was coming. It could make anyone giddy.
Eventually they seemed to notice his presence. The anticipation was palpable in the air as they waited to see whose area he would go into that day. He calmly walked on, greeting many of his wives as he went. Then he checked the paper with the right numbers on it and steered himself into the area of Aiko Komatsu.

Sakura was explaining the basic scientific principles and Hax seemed to be understanding them.
Directed energy weapons were tricky things to build for a MT cuture but the Neo Kirisubans had already helped another nation with fusion type star drives.
"Our phaser weapons have various settings. They're stun, heat, kill and atomise. This gives them great flexibility especially in ship battles where you can fight to capture an enemy rather than kill them. You also won't blow out the side of a ship" she added explaining how the beam was directed through a crystal.
"Lasers are easier to build although but you can't vary the settings as much. You'd just have stun and kill with them" she added.
###
Aiko was there with Ari and both girls gave Charier a happy smile. With them being identical twins and wearing the same outer robe it was pretty hard to tell them apart.
Aiko was the calmer and more forward of the sisters although as she stood on her tip toes to give the theocrat a loving kiss and taking his hand.
She whispered in his ear suggesting they make this a threesome since they had always done things together. Ari then moved to his side taking his other hand and started kissing his neck.

Hax was growing very, very excited. This was huge.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charier was pleasantly surprised. He would never consider engaging in sex acts with one of his siblings in the room, let alone on the same person, but maybe this was how Neo Kirisubo worked. And besides, he wasn't related to them.
He murmured an agreement and leaned back on the bed. He then slowly pulled the sisters down, making contact easier. They were small- no, he was just large- well, it was both. Anyway, they were both incredibly attractive. He started gradually working his hand down the back of one's robe and kissed the other.
Neo Kirisubo
05-04-2008, 09:53
Sakura paused to let the young engineer take all this down and suggested "my shuttlepod is parked in the forts grounds. I could show the phaser cannons on it so you could see how the theory translates into practice."
She could see how excited he was getting and figured he was closer to a scientist than an engineer. If he had been in her nation he'd have already been high up since her people valued talent.
###
Aiko purred a she felt her husbands hand on her back. The sisters plan was to please him together but they'd never gone in for incest even with them being so close. Ari loved the kiss as well.
It was something that rarely happened even on the N-K worlds which had so relaxed attitudes to sex.
Once he unwrapped them he'd see the surprise they had for him and then the fun could start.
The sisters peppered him with tender loving kisses as their hands wandered over his body. He'd find like most women from their homeworlds these sisters would give you a night to remember as their foreplay continued.

Sakura knew it was getting chilly so after a brief stop off at her quarters she slipped on some socks before they left to see the shuttle.
Pulling the door up she lead the way into the small ship. It could hold six people at a pinch and she slid into the back where the engineering panels were kept.
She pressed a few touch screen buttons but even with the text on the screen being in Kirisuban she was sure Hax could understand what he was about to see.
She called up the scematics of the phaser cannons and a cross section could be seen along with the major components including the focusing crystals.
"I would suggest building small lasers first. Then as your people get more used to and experienced with this type of weapons technology over the years they'll be able to build their own smaller versions for aircraft.
Technology like this could do away with nose guns for example" she suggested.
###
So the love making continued as Ari and Aiko played their part. Control see-sawed between them and Charier as these small slender women pleasured him as they made love.
They concentrated on his pleasure as time passed giving their all to him. Their energy and passion as well as some love.

"It's getting late, and my dad- the theocrat, I mean- had a room prepared for you. I think I should show it to you now."

Charier was in heaven. Perhaps he had died in the last battle after all. Anyway, he shouldn't question his luck.
After about an hour, the session ended. He lay there for a while, then put on his clothes and got up to leave. He kissed them goodnight, went to take a shower, and then slept- actually slept- in his own room.

Sakura smiled and followed the Theocrats daughter. No wonder she was his assistant given you can generally trust family.
So reaching her room her bag had been already moved in. Everything Sakura needed was in one holdall.
###
Ari was so happy as she returned to her own room to rest after the hour in heaven. She'd left Aiko in her own bed and now climbed under her own sheets. She was tired but still felt so pleasured.
When sleep did take her she dreamed about the future. Hopefully a pleasant one.

Valya went to check on the Ambassador the next morning. It was to be her last day of fun for a while- tomorrow, as a 16-year-old, she would have to go off to school. Ever since he had adopted her after the accident 8 years ago, when she was 8 and he was 22, life had been very good for her. While he made her receive a textbook education for every one out of two months, the other month she followed him everywhere, except for the front lines of the battlefield, assisting him and amassing first-hand experience which a book could not give her. She had a future in government, she knew.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hax was thanking all of the gods for his luck. It was definitely time to ask for a promotion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charier woke up. He thought he felt something, but it was only a memory of the previous night. As it was, after he brushed his teeth and shaved, he went off to the the living areas for his morning round with two different women individually- he had a lot of them to cover. Then he showered, ate a light snack (a piece of toast and some juice), and prayed for a while.

Sakura was usually an early riser so she was ready already wearing a light blue kimono tied with a red obi.
Her pistol was concealed in this and it also held her sword.
"Good morning" she cheerfully said bowing having just brushed her hair.
###
Ari and Aiko also got ready wearing their local short sleeved long dresses today. They both wore cream coloured ones as they headed to the dinning hall chatting away happily in Kirisuban.
Today held the promise of getting to know more wives and more people. Things both girls enjoyed doing.

Valya saw that the Ambassador was awake and dressed.
"Good morning," she said politely. "We've started serving breakfast in the dining area, if you want to eat there. The theocrat, however, is also extending an invitation to you to eat breakfast with him personally and talk about anything that needs mentioning or which you're curious about. Also, is all your stuff packed? If it isn't, I could send someone in here to do it."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hax asked for a promotion. It was probably a bad time, as the theocrat was in the shower when he called him.
"No," said Charier. "However, I will increase your research budget to whatever amount is necessary. If you can make a working phaser of some variety, I will definitely promote you. Right now I can't tell whether you've got the right idea or not."
"Sounds fair," said Hax, adding a quick "sir" at the end.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charier sent a servant to see if the new wives were settling in comfortably, practiced sword fighting with a guard for a bit, and waited to see if his invitation had been accepted.

Sakura smiled and politely replied "I would be honoured to have breakfast with the Theocrat. I'm packed already as well."
So heading away with Valya she had a breakfast meeting with the Theocrat. A chance to ask what she hadn't the chance to do last night.
###
Aiko smiled and cheerfully said to the servant "We're settling in fine. Thank you for checking up on us."

The theocrat sat across a small table from Ambassador Sakura in his private living chambers. He poured himself a cup of coffee and added some milk and sugar. He then took some ham, scrambled eggs, and bread. He offered the food and drink to Sakura.
"So, how was your visit?" he asked. "Do you have anything you'd like to mention or ask me about?"
Neo Kirisubo
05-04-2008, 20:27
Settling for some toast and eggs Sakura took her seat at the table and over breakfast politely asked "Theocrat, I was wondering if you would be agreeable to a diplomat being stationed in this city.
Her needs would be small. Two other team members and an office and quarters for the would be all they need. "
She then sipped some white coffee relaxing.
Fluidism Viriline

"We don't like to station diplomats in any of the Administrative Cities," replied Charier. "I am sorry, but diplomats have stolen information before, and we keep a lot of valuable documents in the Administrative Cities. We would, of course, be happy to set up an embassy for you in Tek'Oza."
Neo Kirisubo
05-04-2008, 20:42
"That would be acceptable Theocrat" Sakura replied.
"Spying diplomats unfortunately arn't unknown either on Earth or the rest of the galaxy so I understand why you take the precautions" she added sipping more coffee.
This was a good start and hopefully a first step in closer relations between their nations.

"Is there anything else you would like to talk or ask about?"said Charier. "And would you possibly like to see your former crew members before you leave?"

Sakura smiled and said "I'd rather leave the next diplomatic steps in the hands of whom my government sends to the consulate.
I would like to see Ari and Aiko before we leave. As your wives they will continue to keep you happy and be an example of their culture. I'm sure others will learn from them the same way they'll learn from the other wives."

05-04-2008, 21:03
"Very well," said Charier. He finished his last bite of eggs and drained his coffee. "If that is all, I wouldn't want to waste your time. I'll get Valya to take care of you until you leave. She'll be eager to do something- she's going off to school tomorrow, and she'd love something to do. Seriously," he laughed, "she's got to be our first 16-year-old unofficial policymaker ever- she tells me exactly what she thinks of my decisions, and never in very flattering terms." He stood up. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Ambassador Sakura, and we thank you for the tech lesson. And before you leave, visit the stables. We have a gift for your nation at large."
Neo Kirisubo
05-04-2008, 21:17
Sakura smiled and replied "thank you for all your hospitality and I will swing by the stables.
Your daughter has been very helpful already and she's a credit to you and her nation.
If your engineer needs to do further research he can always contact my ship and even carry out the research on board.
We're always willing to host guests if he can cope with being the only man on board for a while."
Her little smile broadened knowing the legends old spacers had about her people. Some painted them as sirens who would tempt you onto the proverbial rocky shore. Others had them pictured as sex kittens and others had them as warrior amazons who could just as easily cut you down with a sword and just as easily seduce you.

Charier said, "We thank you for the offer, but I've already given Hax permission to start his own research committee here using local supplies, and i think he's already started spending the money. Valya should be here to collect you...now." She came through the door and waited. he turned to her. "Valya, take Ambassador Sakura to the stables. Also, help her find her former ensigns, and show her anyplace she wants at your own discretion."
"Of course," Valya said.
They all left the room.

So leaving with Valya as the Theocrat went about his affairs of state their journey took them to the stables via the swimming pool.
Ari and Aiko looked happy as they chatted with the ambassador. Then with their farewells made Sakura and Valya arrived at the stables.
On her home world Valya would probally be wearing the defence or exploration fleet uniform by now. She would be a fine and wise woman when she grew up.

Valya presented to Sakura the two mares and stallions she had selected for them.
"We heard that you have no four-legged animals on your planet," said Valya, "so I thought that we should give you the beginnings of a breeding stock as a parting gift. We also plan to send along a large amount of feed for their use until they reach your planet, and, of course, instructions. would this pose any sort of problem?"
Neo Kirisubo
05-04-2008, 22:00
Sakura replied "thank you for the kind gift. I'm sure our people will be happy to see horses again.
We had to leave them behind when our old homeworld was destroyed. We remember them but now they can be a reality again.
Transporting them to Kirisubo Primus will be no problem once I can call a ship to collect them. This will take a week or so so could you hold them here until the ship arrives?"
This was the most efficient way to handle this. The Empress Midori had nowhere to look after horses in it.
Fluidism Viriline
05-04-2008, 22:08
"Of course," said Valya. "One thing you should know, though: These aren't the gentle variety you rode here, they're on the middle of the spectrum."
She looked at her watch- it was past noon.
"it's time for lunch," she said. "And after that, is there anything ese you'd like to see before leaving?"
Neo Kirisubo
05-04-2008, 22:16
"Valya, I'd like to look at the gardens after lunch" Sakura politely replied as she stroked a mares neck.
People of her generation had memories of horses and now they could be a reality again.
It was surprising how time passes when you were having fun and this certainly had been an interesting trip with charming company all the way.

"That's perfectly acceptable," she said. "Also, if you'd like, we could take a look at the future children's area. If we could find your former crew members, we could take them too. I've heard most of the wives tend to be interested in how their children are cared for."
She led her into the dining hall session for special guests, where they went to a buffet-type set of foods.
"First, though, we eat."
Neo Kirisubo
05-04-2008, 22:38
Settling for a light lunch Sakura replied as Valya made the suggestion.
"I'm sure Aiko and Ari would like that as well. We don't have normal families since 90% of our population is female these days.
Both Aiko and Ari grew up not knowing a father but they did have two mothers who died when New Kirisubo died. "

After eating they went to find Ari and Aiko.
"By the way," asked valya, "what happened to your men?"
Neo Kirisubo
05-04-2008, 22:51
"They make up 10% of the population but can't leave our star system. Ten years ago 70% of the population was female but so many men died in the bio weapon attack we had to restrict their freedoms for the greater good.
We always had gender equality but we need them staying at home. We've also had some help from our neighbours and we're more multi-racial these days as a result.
They can fight in the defence forces and hold down normal jobs in other fields but they have to donate sperm every month and each woman has to have at least two children.
Its the price for rebuilding a species and we'll have to do it for at least another generation. The girls who leave your nation to live with us will also have to deal with this" Sakura replied as they sought out the twins after lunch.
They found them at the archery range trying this sport out.
Fluidism Viriline
05-04-2008, 23:19
Valya watched as the twins shot. She wouldn't mention it out loud, but they were average for newcomers- meaning pretty bad. Of course, that would change. With a halfway decent bow, anyone could pick up the art with a little practice to the level where they'd be able to hit a large, stationary target near the center.
She then escorted them to a second compound inside the palace. The first room they came to was filled with several cradles and bassinets.
"This," said Valya, is where we keep children up to 3 years old. Their mothers temporarily live in that room off to the left. They stay there for the first 6 months of the child's life, because almost all health organizations recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life, with benefits to both mother and child. Afterwards, the mothers go back, and a team of ordinary nurses and wet nurses take over.
"In that room over to the right are the Labor and Delivery Wards and the Maternity Wards."
They then went further in, reaching a hallway with five doors on each side.
"Those," said Valya, "lead to the boys' and girls' dormitories. They are divided into rooms that are similar to your areas but with actual walls. they also have twice the furniture, since it's two people to a room. The dorms are age-divided."
They were running out of time.
"Farther on are their dining areas, sports areas and entertainment facilities, and schools. They also go through certain areas of the palace and city with whatever accompaniment is necessary. I myself go to the school there as the adopted daughter of the theocrat. Normally, the course is challenging, but as the only student there right now in any grade, it wears me out- not that I'm complaining, of course, I'm lucky to get such a rewarding education. It would be hard to walk away from there knowing nothing.
"i wish I could show you those places directly but now we have to go back. i think it's nearly time for you to leave, Ambassador."
Neo Kirisubo
05-04-2008, 23:39
The tour was completed and Aiko and Ari knew after 6th months they wouldn't see their children very often. Seeing the facilities they'd be using in the future was helpful athough.
Their job was to be good wives to the Theocrat and they could live with the nature of the Theocrat's family structure. They already lived with an unusual way of growing up back home.
Sakura had seen a lot today and indeed it was time for her to return to her ship and World Assembly business. She also had to contact home and get another Ambassador and her support team out here. Four little girls from Fluidism Viriline would also be going home on that ship unless they were raised on the Empress Midori.
"Valya its sad but my duty to my people is pulling me away from here. Hopefully we can meet again someday" she politely replied having so much to catch up on when her shuttle docked.

Having landed her shuttlepod in the airbase it had been well looked after.
It looked a bit boxy compared to the sleek jets on the base but it was a tried and trusted design which worked well.
So waving to Valya they had to part for now.
Sakura took off and with an escort flew back the way the came until she cleared the Earths atmosphere.
Her mission had been completed but there was still a lot of work to do including establishing an Embassy on Fluidism Viriline.

Marina looked at the many pictures that hanged on the walls of her small but comfortable suite in the apartment she rented in Tzargrad. As a twenty three year old woman who had not only graduated from college as an honor student but who was famous as a highly rated cheerleader, Marina was always surrounded by friends and family. One day, while she read the news reports on her laptop, she noticed an interesting advertisement. "Theocrat needs wives?" Marina uttered curiously as she read. When she finished, she decided that she'd meet this theocrat and see if he was good for her. It was a thought of hers that perhaps she should look for a man but she would not just go with just any man. She'd judge him every step of the path.
"Theocrat Charier,
My name is Marina; I'm twenty three and I am a citizen of the Ixanian Empire. I read your advertisement about looking for a wife; well, you did say 5000 wives but I honestly doubt you'd get that much. Anywho, I'm writing to tell you that I am interested in meeting you. I am 5'5 and I am strong, healthy and fit as a result of my daily exercises and past fame as a highly rated cheerleader in college. As for bra size....well let's just say you should like what mine is. I look forward to meeting you, sir. If you could arrange transportation, I would appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
Signed,
Marina."
Marina smiled as she swiftly sent the letter to Charier and wondered about him. Was he a good man? Was he just a pervert who wanted many wives for grotesque practices? With so many thoughts in her mind, she decided to pass the time at a cafe while she waited for a reply.

Official Reply from the Theocracy Information Center to Marina:
Dear Marina,
We are pleased to note that you have applied for a position as one of the theocrat's wives.
We understand that you should know the rationale behind his amount of wives and what the job entails, so we are putting excerpts up of various informational items to teach you about the job.
"In order to pass on his holy blood to future generations and infuse the nation with power, our beloved Theocrat Charier feels a need to recruit 5000 wives for himself. He desires to take them from other nations,in order to increase the amount of power present in the blood of his nation."
Basically, our religion revolves around the transfer of this intangible power from group to group and person to person. The theocrat is always the man with the most, so he has to have as many kids as possible to put it back into the community.
"Basic nation information:
polytheistic theocracy, but those born outside are granted freedom of religion
All wives have honorary citizenship."
Basically, your job is to have kids, but you get a lot of benefits, and you live the good life until you turn 31 (and then longer, if you are nursing or pregnant at the time).
Now for the rationale behind the number.
"5,000?
Isn't that like...a lot?
-Reich Foreign Ministry-"
"Not really. And the number's been done before."
We hope this has been informative for you. Please reply.
Sincerely,

To the Extremely Exasperated Theocrat of Fluidism Viriline,
I believe that whatever governing council elects theocrats - or whoever has been deemed his hier - should elect a new Theocrat to rule Fluidism Viriline. You may be questioning my rationale; however, if I have the proper understanding of the human psyche, this homo sapien male - due to excessively hedonistic sessions with his prospective, five-thousand-populated harem - will be incapable of administering the government of Fluidism Viriline due to exasperation, exhaustion, and a lack of adequate blood flow to the brain.
Therefore, for the love of whatever deities you worship, get a new Theocrat and lower his love-making quota.

After finishing her shower, Marina walked out of the bathroom to see the reply she recieved from the Theocracy Information Center. As she read the letter, it made her think more about being a wife of the Theocrat as it did sound appealing to her. She changed into a light nightgown and took the letter into one hand while eating a bowl of ice cream as some talk show aired on the television. After reading it for a second time, she began working on her reply.
"Theocrat Charier,
I recieved a message from the Theocrat Information Center; and I must say that I am interested in meeting you even though I have never pictured myself as the polygamist spouse of a foreign leader before. If you could arrange for transportation from Ixania to your nation then I would appreciate it very much. However, if I am considered to be a suitable bride for you, then I request permission for my family and friends to visit me.
Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions about myself; I look forward to meeting and learning more about you and your nation. Thank you for your time.
Sncerely,

After sending the letter, Marina turned off her television, adjusted herself on the sofa and fell asleep; already comfortable enough to discard walking a bit to her bed.

To the fifth Monarchy: Thank you for your concern. It's not all in one day. we'll be fine.

Theocrat Charier read Marina's reply with interest after his aid brought it to him. This woman was different from the others. She was apparently highly attractive- so were the others. She was fit and strong- so were the others. But unlike all the others, this one had asked to meet him personally before making a decision.
He mused over this.personal interviews simply weren't part of the tradition. However, he had not always been a very traditional guy, and the girl intrigued and impressed him with her daring- or maybe her ignorance of the way things were run, but he still liked it. Also, he appreciated her nerve with the "polygamist spouse of a foreign leader" bit. He would reply to her personally.

Marina recieved the letter from the Theocrat with a smile; it had seemed that she interested him and that made her happy to know. Packing what she needed and notifying the landlord of the possibility that she may be leaving permanently, the fair skinned, blue eyed brunette and former honor student got aboard the helicopter sent for her with a briefcase filled with what she termed were essentials. At times, she would play the flute in the helicopter and explained to the pilots, etc that she had always been a flutist since she was little and that she had a certain part of the day set aside for practice. As she sat in the helicopter, she thought about Charier and knew she would probably be the first to ask for a personal interview. It was not that she did not like him; she was one of those women who wanted to know everything she could about a man before getting into any romance or marriage. She was even prepared to reject Charier if he was not acceptable to her. Marina did like that Charier would allow for her family to visit; she knew that her mother would be....forceful in that aspect.
When the helicopter reached its destination, Marina adjusted the hem of her skirt as she walked off with her briefcase in hand. She took a brief but thorough look at her surroundings with a smile; she had a fondness for travel that was evidenced by the stories her father would tell during her visits to him back in the old town. Marina looked around for the greeters who would take her to her possible husband...she'd be the small town girl who got fame in the big city....and who would maybe become the one of many wives of an unknown theocrat. She brushed her medium length hair around with one hand and noticed the faint outline of some carriage or vehicle in the distance. "We'll see how it turns out." Marina thought calmly. "Perhaps, it will work out....perhaps it won't."

She was then escorted inside the fort by a female soldier who led her deep inside to a small, comfortably lit room. On the far end of a small circular table was a deeply tanned, tall, well-built man.
"Welcome," he said in a mildly musical voice. "I am Theocrat Charier. Won't you take a seat, Marina?"

Marina looked out the window of the car as she waited to arrive at Charier's residence; still thinking about him and what he was like. She did like a strong man but muscles were not everything to her. When she finally laid her eyes upon Charier, she swiftly looked him up and down as if studying him before taking her seat and adjusting her blouse. "It is nice to meet you, sir. You already know my name so let's begin, shall we?"
Marina smiled. "I am sure that you want to learn more about me....so go ahead and ask me whatever questions are in your mind."

"First of all," said the theocrat, "this chat is already too informal to call me sir- just call me Charier." He poured both of them some wine.
"If you don't drink or want some other drink just tell me, OK?" He didn't want to somehow offend her. "Now, you asked about my questions. I'll just ask a bnch now, and you answer any way you want. Also, feel free to ask some of your own.
"Now, here goes. What has your life been like? How is the world going for you right now? What do you do with your time and why? And why did you decide to come here?"
He paused, giving her a chance to answer.

"Now, here goes. What has your life been like? How is the world going for you right now? What do you do with your time and why? And why did you decide to come here?"
He paused, giving her a chance to answer.
"My life has been relatively good and the world runs smoothly for me. In my spare time you will see me spending time with friends, practicing my flute playing and attending social gatherings such as high school reunions. I'm quite famous for my exploits as an honor student and as a cheerleader captain for my sports team. As for why I decided to come here....well I thought that it would be nice to meet you. I've been thinking about finding a man to settle down with and I thought you could be that man...if things work well. Any more questions? I'll let you ask some more before I partake in asking you some of my own."
Marina took a sip of her wine and smiled; studying Charier briefly. "How many wives do you have so far?"

Charier wondered how she would interpret the answer. Then he realized that she had come knowing the numbers she eventually planned to deal with. A soldier who knew about the specifics of a mission and still volunteered to come was usually accepting of it, in his experience. The same worked for women, he hoped.
"515," he said calmly. "And as of now, I have no more pressing questions, aside from this. You do know what this commitment would entail, right? Answer that, and I will answer any questions you have."

"I understand the commitment that this will entail and I am prepared for it, Charier. As for my questions, I would like to know more about the wedding ceremony, what will happen to me in the first days as your wife and what are my opportunities after I have born you children. That's what I'll start with in terms of questions for you."
Marina took a sip of her wine. "I assure you that I am prepared; the only fear I'd have is not being on good terms with the other wives you have but I am sure we can all be friends."

The theocrat smiled. "In response to the last part, from what I've heard there is very little social friction among the wives. Most don't know each other, so a new person can fit in easily. And you don't always have to be near those whom you don't like anyway- there is plenty to do here.
"Your first questions are very intelligent. The wedding is simple. You choose a precious stone from among a large selection and are helped to etch your name into it. That will then go on a wall. You then choose one of a large number of rings that have my name and 'Fluidism Viriline' on it, because in a way you marry not only me but the state as well. We then agree to one very simple vow, and you eat a piece of bread whose baking i supervised. then it's over.
"Your first days as a wife are also simple. Now, simply put, I have a lot of wives, and I haven't had a chance to 'visit' all of them in bed yet. However, when a single person or pair of people arrives that day, I try to go out of my way to visit them, as i can do it conveniently. this means that you can expect my presence on your first married night. Being as how I have several wives, that may not happen again for a long time. You will spend your first few days here settling in, making friends, and exploring the palace and its various hobby, sporting, and leisure opportunities. You can also request work in an administrative position to spend your time.
"If you become pregnant, you continue to live in the wives' living quarters until very late in your pregnancy. You go in for prenatal care on a regular basis. Later on, you are moved into a waiting area and then into the Labor and Delivery Ward. Afterwards, you temporarily go to the maternity ward, around which time you name the child. All health organizations recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life, so for those months you stay in a room near the infant area, allowing you to feed your child. After 6 months, you go back to your original living quarters, and resume whatever life you led there beforehand. We have professionals to care for and educate children, but you are allowed to visit. Pregnany occurs for the majority of wives once, but some have two or more pregnancies.
"Once you turn 31 you are discharged from the service and replaced. Now, being my wife comes with automatic citizenship, so you can leave the nation or stay and take full advantage of the rights of a female citizen, which, not to worry, include remarrying. Now, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding at the time you turn 31, you wait around until that period is done.

"I must say that the marriage ceremony you described is very simple; not much like the ceremonies conducted in Ixania. It would be new for me since all the weddings I've been too have had more to them than just one vow and a piece of bread; but I do not wish to be disrepectful towards your nation's traditions. In fact, I'm interested in learning more about them."
"Your first days as a wife are also simple. Now, simply put, I have a lot of wives, and I haven't had a chance to 'visit' all of them in bed yet. You can also request work in an administrative position to spend your time.
"I'm sure there are some wives you'd want to 'visit' in bed; perhaps you are wishing I was already your wife....but anywho, I can expect your presence on my first married night in a honeymoon like fashion. I would not mind not seeing you again for a long time; I'm not going to hate you because you don't get into bed with me. It would be nice to make friends, go exploring and so forth. As for an administrative position, that is possible."
"If you become pregnant, you continue to live in the wives' living quarters until very late in your pregnancy. You go in for prenatal care on a regular basis. Pregnany occurs for the majority of wives once, but some have two or more pregnancies.
"If I was pregnant, all I would want is to be able to provide care for the child. I understand your system and I would appreciate being able to at least visit the child after the six months. I am sure that you have many children but can I ask if you have named one of them as your successor?"
"Discharged? Can I ask why you discharge wives when they turn that age? As for being a citizen and staying in the nation, I would think about that and I would also think about remarriage; I would not want to rush into either. Charier, it is possible that some women would want to remain your wife perhaps out of love or monetary gain or whatever."
"Are there more questions?"

"Well, now you have a lot of questions," he replied wryly.
"First off, as to the heir: no. The position is not hereditary, and the new one is never he child of the prior theocrat. The priests, including myself, instead use a very complicated combination of religious spellcraft and mysticism, science, and experience and intuition to choose the next theocrat in advance. then, when i die or retire, he is found immediately and brought to the palace.
'as to the discharging business, that is required in our sacred criptures. We aren't actually sure as to the certain age- the two interpretations are 31 and -1 years of age, and we obviously settled on 31. And the thing is, i have a duty to the state and our gods that I cannot just cast aside and expect to cary out my role properly. I can interpret more liberally than any theocrat ever before, but I cannot break the rules. of course, if I were to retire, I could do whatever the average citizen pleased, which inclues having a wife who is older than 31.
"Now, we have several athletic facilities, both indoors and outdoors. I can have an aide take you around- I have some work I need to do before I sleep. You will be staying in a guest room.
He paused for breath. "OK, as to myself. I was born to farming parents down south. At the age of 18, I signed up in the army, taking online college courses. I quickly rose through the ranks.
"At the age of 22, I was sent with a squad to investigate an accident at an isolated research facility staffed by a married couple. When we got there, they were dead. Their 8-year-old daughter, Valya, still lived. i felt sorry for her and adopted her. She's 16 now- she's at the palace too. She goes to school here every one out of two months. Every other month, she follows me almost everywhere I go, gaining real-life experience. She greatly prefers her traveling months to her school months, and we both agree that she has a future in politics. It's a school month right now.
"At 25, the old theocrat, Bairam, died. I was surprised to be chosen as theocrat, but I did my duty and came along. I've been here ever since."

The priests, including myself, instead use a very complicated combination of religious spellcraft and mysticism, science, and experience and intuition to choose the next theocrat in advance. then, when i die or retire, he is found immediately and brought to the palace.
Marina smiled. "Is there any specific ceremony used in the selection of a new theocrat or do you all just meet, decide and then disperse?"
'as to the discharging business, that is required in our sacred criptures. We aren't actually sure as to the certain age- the two interpretations are 31 and -1 years of age, and we obviously settled on 31. I can interpret more liberally than any theocrat ever before, but I cannot break the rules. of course, if I were to retire, I could do whatever the average citizen pleased, which inclues having a wife who is older than 31.
"Have there been theocrats who, having enjoyed the company of a particular wife, refuse to discharge her?"
"Now, we have several athletic facilities, both indoors and outdoors. I can have an aide take you around- I have some work I need to do before I sleep. You will be staying in a guest room.
"I'm glad to hear that; although I am known to have excelled academically in school I still enjoy taking partaking in athletic pursuits like track and field. I'll have you know that I was once famous as a cheerleader captain."
He paused for breath. "OK, as to myself. I was born to farming parents down south. At the age of 18, I signed up in the army, taking online college courses. I quickly rose through the ranks.
"I never went into the army; but I did go into college and then university. My parents were able to help get in and I'm always thankful to them. The best part was that most of my friends were with me; so we always spent time together and remembered the days when we were schoolboys and girls."
"I am sure that Valya will have a good life under proper and adequate guidance; perhaps I could meet her one day. I have never had any children, whether out of wedlock or adoptive; I live alone in my flat in Tzargrad but I have thought of settling down and having children; long before I heard about you."
"At 25, the old theocrat, Bairam, died. I was surprised to be chosen as theocrat, but I did my duty and came along. I've been here ever since."

"There is a ceremony. The first part is private. Prayers are said and then the theocrat and the regional kings touch each others' feet as a sign of respect. There is then a public procession throughout the capital, Tek'Oza.
"And yes, three theocrats have kept their wives. However, to do so, they resigned and resumed whatever lives they led before.
"Chances are that you should meet Valya within a couple of months- as i said, she studies at the educational facilities here, and in noneducational months tends to act as my aide. As a 16-year-old now, she gets herself very involved.
"And yes, only men can be theocrats. We have traditionally been a very patriarchal society, which has begun to change in the last century, but the real reason is biology. Part of the job is having children, as I'm sure you know, and a woman couldn't do that fast enough and in great enough numbers, and even if she could she would likely have health problems due to calcium loss."

They walked through troupes of traditional dancers in various garb and carrying various props, including real weapons. many of the people were rehearsing with music in the background.
Then they toured some cooking areas, where festival preparations were well underway. Meat was being hung in preparation, and casks of wine and beer were being rolled out. there was bread everywhere, and fresh fruits and vegetables were being shipped in.

"Farther on are their dining areas, sports areas and entertainment facilities, and schools. They also go through certain areas of the palace and city with whatever accompaniment is necessary. I myself go to the school there as the adopted daughter of the theocrat.
