Volzgradien Civil War

Volzgrad

OOC: this is a follow up thread to the RSA dissolution thread, here you can choose which faction to support in the Volzgradien Revolution. The final result of the conflict will change Volzgrad forever.

Just 2 days after the dissolution of the short lived Red Star Alliance, Volzgrad is already in political turmoil. In the north, the infamous Korvograd Revoultionary Front has recently begun a major offensive to achieve their dream of a fascist Volzgrad. In the south, the newly formed United Liberation Party has sprung up, hoping to turn Volzgrad into a democracy. The Volzgradien Socialist government, already under stress from the fall of the RSA, will stop at nothing to ensure Volzgrad remains a red state. Now, as the conflict escalates, the respective leaders of the factions send requests of aid and military support to the various world leaders. The only choices for the Volzgradiens are victory or death...

Factions:

Name: Korvograd Revolutionary Front (KRF)
Government Style: Ultra-nationalist (fascist)
Armed Forces: Unknown, around 50 million scattered rebels
Military Strength: Blitzkrieg, mountain and mechanized warfare
Official Color: Green
B]Leader:[/B] Major Gregor Venkov
Description: A long living and infamous fascist rebel group. Founded during Volzgrad's early years, the KRF originally only fought near Korvograd (province not city) and the surrounding mountains. The KRF has suffered major setbacks, but has recently become very popular with people in the north of Volzgrad. Its leader, Major Gregor Venkov, was former head of the Black Star Guard (Volzgradien Honor Guard) this has given the Korvogradiens much needed power in the conflict. The KRF has always preferred Blitzkrieg style warfare.

Name: Volzgradien Government
Government:Style: Socialist
Armed Forces: 50 million
Military Stength: Brute Force
Official Color: Red and black
Leader: Premier Jozef Vachenski
Description: The former government of Volzgrad, now they fight to regain power. They support Communism. Not much to know but that.

Name: United Liberation Party
Government Style: Democratic
Armed Forces: 30 million
Military Stength: Hit and Run
Official Color: Blue
Leader: Vladimir Panchenski
Description: A new and increasingly powerful faction in the conflict. The ULP support a democratic style of government for Volzgrad. They prefer to use hit and run tactics to fight and they operate in the coastal south.

OOC: I'll make a map sometime, for now just post who you wish to send support to and how much.

Hurtful Thoughts

Seems odd...
-Democracy suggests internal competition, bickering, on the edge of anarchy...
-Socialism is where the needs of the people are decided by a group, the nation itself takes a backseat.
-Fascism is where the needs of the state outwiegh the needs of the people.

I would support Democratacy, and thus, oppose the current system.
That or lean to the other extreme, of a Fascism-based war industry.

Confederacy will now do his comparrission of idealogical Anarchist Commuism vs Socialist/Stalanist Communism, and Chinese Fascist Communism.

Pre-Communist:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trotskyism (All or nothing imperialism/Anarchy)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left_communist (Anarchy/Direct Democracy)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalinism (Socialism)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maoism (Fascism)

I think I'll back the Green zone...
May I assume Confederacy will back the Blues?
I'd let Kampfers be the coin-flip...

I wonder where Mokastana will fit into this wheel...

OOC: No, they wouldn't ever risk lives for a "false representative democracy", but hopefully they might find some actual anarchist minority in the middle of that "democratic" faction, however they would then actually help the anarchists to form a separate faction rather than supporting any of the three. Now the challenge of smuggling military hardware through non-standard logistics of vessels with no nationality markings and of avoiding to give any hints will be the biggest challenge, I'll have to take my time to ponder about it. Probably will only post anything IC substantially on Saturday.

I won't vote anyway, because this is going to be, as previously pointed, the sort of "nobody knows, nobody ever heard about" class of military operation. Also it's currently difficult to know whether the democrats want in Volzgrad a planned socialist economy ran by a representative democracy like in RL Moldova (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moldova) or if they want to embrace capitalism.

OOC: The Democratic rebels want Capitalism to be embraced by Volzgrad. And sorry that there is no Anarchist faction. To anyone who is wondering, I do have the basic idea of how the Civil War will go. Also, sorry about the Socialism-Communism mix up, it was quite late at night when I wrote that and I was pretty tired. The Volzgradien government supports Socialism. By the way, can someone make a map for this. I'm a fairly bad at making them, but all you have do it is make sure its big and that the south is coastal and the north is mountainous.

The KRF has always preferred Blitzkrieg style warfare.

Interesting how a rebel organization possesses the industrial capacity to maintain the fleets of armored fighting vehicles, motorized transport, and aircraft needed to facilitate this type of warfare.

Official Contact to the Democratic Faction:

The CERC wishes to pledge economic allegiance at this time to the Democratic Faction with hopes of future commerce. Although military aid is availible, the CERC must be presented with a valid cause to commit fighting men to a foreign land. The CERC insists that any military involvement will require a land-grant by the victorious government to the CERC, to be permanently written off to the CERC.

OOC: Sorry for not saying, this thread is open to all nations. Also, the KRF itself is a small organization, but many deserting Volzgradien soldiers joined them. Thus giving them the vehicles necessary to engage in Blitzkrieg.

Thank you for the offer of aid, your support would be most appreciated. We assure you that if we are victorious, your nation will be given a port on the south of Volzgrad as a gift. However, our enemies our numerous, and all of them hate democracy and the free people. Thus, we will need much aid if we are to overcome them. If you decide to help us, your forces will be stationed at Parvograd, a port in our territory.

OOC: Here's the first battle to kick things up.

The Battle of Mavrovic Heights

The morning sun illuminated the KRF encampment as they prepared their defenses. Just below the KRF controlled ridge, a large governmental force lay ready to attack. "Damn, they've sent the 41st to take us out" cursed Captain Yuri Koslov. "Well, we got the high ground, then again they are the best government army in the area" muttered his squadmate, Joseph Carlovich. "This is Colonel Patrovski to all units, prepare for immediate enemy assault, they're using standard battle line, tanks in front and infantry in back" buzzed Yuri's radio as he loaded his CM-74. "Alright, I want all artillery units on standby, prepare for immediate call down, I want all infantry to focus on their infantry, no use wasting bullets on the tanks" radioed Koslov as his platoon readied up.

The noise of incoming enemy artillery and the rumbling enemy army dazed Koslov as he tried to reach the firing line. Volzgradien government artillery had notoriously poor aim, so only the conscripts were afraid of the barrage. As he looked over the battlefield, Yuri could spot the oncoming enemy forces rumble forward. Suddenly, he heard a series of heavy booms behind him, followed closely by the deafening roar of exploding enemy tanks. Several of his troops began to cheer as they watched KRF artillery obliterate almost half of the oncoming enemies.

His CM-74 roared as he opened fire on a group of Socialists on his right flank. His entire unit opened fire on the approaching army. The entire first wave of government soldiers were only conscripts, cannon fodder for the now arriving regulars. Now, he began to take casualties. The KRF artillery managed to yet again destroy much of the oncoming force, but the few remaining troops would have to be killed by infantry. Almost all of the government troops were cut down by the KRF rebels. Only a few of them were left alive for interrogation.

The first battle of the war was won by the KRF.

OOC: Since no one is really replying, I would like to announce that the KRF are the victors of the war. The KRF and ULP ganged up on the Socialists and destroyed them. Then the KRF proceed to invade southern Volzgrad and send the remaining ULP forces into exile or simply killed them. Volzgrad is now know as the Iron Union of Volzgrad.

Breaking News:

After months of brutal guerrilla warfare and just good old fashioned brawls, the Korvograd Revolutionary Front has become the ruling force in Volzgrad. All traces of our Socialist past are to be torn down, and even now mobs are in the streets dismantling the statues of former Premier Vachenski who was killed last week by Black Star Assassins. The new government has already announced itself as our new rulers and are apparently promising elections and more freedom.

The various nations who helped the factions in the civil war are now pulling out, even though the mad leader of Greston rants about continuing the war. All military units are now being re-trained in former KRF battle tactics, and its is expected that the old officers who supported the Socialist government will be killed or evicted. Currently, repairs are under way to redecorate the former Socialist government buildings. For the first time in 60 years, a different flag flew over the capitol building of Volzgrad.

This is Peter Polovski, come back at 8pm to see our story on rising crime rates in New Stavinvast.

The Royal Capitol City, Beth
0903 hours

As part of a live global broadcast for the Colonial News Network, Ian Sherfield stood meters away from the double doors of the capitol building with his microphone in hand, standing before his camera crew.

"Coming to you live from just outside the capitol building, we have just received breaking news that the Parliament, under the pressure of Chancellor Alexander and King William, has just passed a motion to begin immediate military involvement in Volzgrad. As news trickled in about the KRF victory, the Parliament became more and more strained to maintain contact with our democratic allies. In light of this, just minutes ago, the Parliament specifically addressed the 1st Royal Army Corps to be deployed overseas under the command of Sir, General Richard Haig. CNN has not been able to raise Haig for comments. It is estimated that the entirety of the 1st Army Corps will be mobilized and deployed within the month. Reporting to you live from Beth, Ian Sherfield, CNN news."

"And cut. Good shot Ian." the cameraman commented.
"Thanks, this could really be the big break i need at the office to make anchor."
"I don't know Ian. You got the story, now soldiers must go to war, and the public will be breathing down their necks over their every move."
Ian didn't say anything more as he opened the door of the van. He paused as he seated himself, looking at his cameraman. Looking at him with a stern face he closed, "Let's go."

Not but meters away, General Haig was recorded as making the same exact statement in his private office.

"All former ULP members Chernobl offers you asylum in your time of need!" Were the words that were being broadcasted over the channels that Chernobl had used to come into contact with the ULP. Most of the ULP had been killed. After realizing the continuation of broadcast was usless President Vasili cut off all broadcasting into Volzgrad. "Well I suppose it's better than communism." Vasili told the press that evening.
