The Rebellion of the West (Open|ATTN:Rodinia)

Gourmondinia
24-03-2008, 17:51
The sky cast a dark, grey shadow across the land, and the sun was obscured by black clouds. Rain fell in sheets around castle Du'Sandwhich, home of king Leopold the II of the Parliamentary Kingdom of Gourmondinia. The king was fast asleep in his upper chambers, but was suddenly awoken by a loud clap of thunder. Rising from his bed, he went to draw the curtains. His sleeping wife murmured in her sleep, and turned over. He brushed her hair ever so gently, and was about to climb back into the large bed when a loud rapping came at the chamber door. Standing, he creaked it open the slightest crack, and slid out into the hall, making sure not to awaken his slumbering wife. The man standing outside was George Leowelton, the President of the Parliament. He had a nervous look on his face, and his messy and unbrushed hair told Leopold that he, too, had just been roused from bed. Without a word, Leowelton beckoned Leopold to follow him. The two strode briskly down the long, stone corridors to the situations room, located two floors below. Not a word passed between them until they had passed the vast, oak doors that led into the situations room. Sitting heavily, Leopold yawned as he waited for George to speak. Leowelton rang his hands nervously, and began to tell the king what had happened. "Sir, our worst fears have been confirmed. Bluefrom and his forces have struck at last." The king felt a sinking sensation in his stomach. The self styled Generalissimo Havegod Bluefrom. A maniacal man, he had long been an anti-monarchist and fascist supporter. Up until several months ago, Bluefrom had been no trouble- just another lunatic, raving about "The unity of the people." and "One people, one government, one leader." Nobody felt the need to listen. But, Bluefrom's influence had started to grow. He had, slowly, accrued a small band of followers. They called themselves the Fascisimos, and now they had struck. This long awaited day had finally arrived.

Leopold looked up at Leowelton. "Where have they struck, George?" He spoke with apprehension, almost with terror. the president's face was a mask of cold determination. "A small outpost to west. They've conquered a tiny piece of land, and their calling it a blow for the new fascist republic." He gulped. Leopold nodded. "How many men, George?" "About...about 500 thousand, sir." Leopold swore. Havegod was more poweful then he had thought. "How many can we mobilize immediately, George?" The president swallowed. "Not counting the airforce...about 100,000 men, sir." Leopold nodded, his face set, determinedly. "Right. I want them ready to attack in the morning."

The light of dawn spread over the land scape as 100,000 men marched in columns and rows. These were Gourmondinia's finest. The best they had. Which was not to say much. Slung over each mans shoulder was an M1 Garand battle rifle. Each was affixed with a bayonet, and each was ready for a battle. Men rode upon horseback, and a motor could not be heard. The Gourmondinian army was trapped in the past, as was about to become painfully clear.

Suddenly, a hail of gunfire rippled through the front line. The horses, startled, began to buck, many hurling their riders from their backs. The Gourmondinian forces raised their rifles, and began firing into the trees. However, few of the Fascisimos (for it was they the Gourmondinans were firing upon) were hurt, protected as they were. The Fascisimo forces carryed Ak-47's, the udget killing machine selected by guerilla forces the world over. Another hail of bullets ripped the Gourmondinian front line apart. Their rifles useless and their cavalryin a shambles, the Gourmondinians beat a hasty retreat, the Fascisimos cheers and yells ringing in their ears.

"They what!" Leopold swore, and slammed his fist upon the table. "How many did we lose?" "About 90 in all, sir. And even more wounded. They've got something new." Franz Josephic was the Gourmondinian Minister of Defense. However, currently, it seemed he would not be for much longer. The first offensive had gone terribly. the Gourmondinian forces had been ripped apart by the superior technology of the Fascisimos. The king sighed. "And what do you propose we do?" "Well, your majesty, I don't rightly know." The king slammed his ist on the table again. His beloved Gourmondinia would not be lost to some cads with bigger guns. He looked up at the Minister of Defense. "I want you to send out an open telegram. Contact every national leader you can. And tell them we need help!" The man scurryed from the room, and Leopold buried his face in his hands. What was he to do?

Dear friends,
I write to you in a time of urgent. Though few of you may know of Gourmondinia, you must be informed of our plot. A group, calling themselves "Fascisimos" have taken over a small portion of western Gourmondinia. They are armed with superior weaponry to our own, and it seems that all will be lost. Please, I beg of you to provide aid to our plight in any way possible. Military forces, supplies, anything that can be done would be most ideal.

Sincerely yours,
Franz Josphic
Minister of Defense

The loud roar of Faxanavian C-130's filled the air as one by one, they lifted off. 50,000 of Faxanavia's finest were northbound for Gourmondinia to provide their support in the second attack on the Fascisimos. They would fall. Faxanavian bullets would make sure of that.

Dear Sir,

After carefully studying our possibilities in this conflict, we have concluded it is not in our best interests to directly intervene in the affairs of the Gourmondinian Kingdom, and thus, we have decided to send a small portion of equipment to your nation to support the military, of which we heard that it is quite outdated. They will be accompanied by military instructors that will make your troops acquainted with the weaponry. The equipment will include domestically-produced materials, of which we ofcourse hope more will be bought (if necessary at a reduced price, we will personally make sure about that) if this war is brought to a good end.

The equipment we will supply comes from what we call The Domains, a governmental service which acutions off military equipment to third party buyers. They are in a good state of repair, but have went past the maximum allowed amount of kilometres for the Van Luxemburger defence forces (This is, 100.000 km). Experiences with the vehicles have proven that they can safely drive a million kilometres or even more, with no severe problems. This will however require regular service. This is why we offer you to send mechanics with them, that can instruct your men on how to repair and service the vehicles.

In total, we have 2,000 Monteluci M6 4x4's (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=536814) (in both a and b configurations), aswell as 10,000 VLT M5 trucks (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=522266)(also in both a and b configurations). They will be accompanied, as explained in the letter, by military instructor that will explain you and your troops how the weaponry works, aswell as mechanics that will explain how to service and repair them. If the vehicle has a weapon mounting point, it will be filled by M2HB .50 machineguns in remote-controlled turrets. All weaponry and equipment will be completely free, including transport and delivery.

We hope this fulfills your expectations. Please notify us if you are interested in acquiring more vehicles: we can arrange for a reduced price at the manufacturers of these vehicles.

OOC: Faxanavia, wasn't this supposed to be closed and MT, not open and unspecified? Also, what will we do with the land oince the war is over? Split it among ourselves like Germany after WWII? Also, is the current government leftist?
IC:

This was just what the Uir needed. A nation which was falling apart and in the geograohic vicinity. Unfourtunately, Uiri's foreign policy dictated that they support the legitimate government. Of course, if the government was deemed to be communist or socialist and the faction being a revolution to return the country to [purer] capitalism then Uiri would send aid as a 'welcome to the international stage' gift and maybe create an 'alliance' with the country. It wasn't very big actually although it was big enough.

The Armed Forces were on stand-by; when given the orders, they would land on the south shore of the land bridge which Gourmondinia was located on. With any luck the Fascisimos would have captured some territory already and Uiri could help them conquer the rest of the territory. Uiri would then demand their fair share of land and when the Fascisimos refused there would be war. If the Fascisimos allowed a fair share, Uiri would demand the capitol city included in the territory and/or a portion effectively cutting the country in two.

OOC: I wanted to open it to be other people besides Rodinia, because it allows people to become aware of Rodinia itself. If its just us, then no one can notice the region, which was the intended goal. As for the land, that'll depend on when the war is over. The Government is leftist, yes, but not communist or socialist. They're a parliamentary kingdom, so the king has absolute power, and the elected parliament act as his advisors.

The people of Gourmondinia are disgusted by this proclamation. Our beloved king Leopold the II has reigned justly and fairly for the past 25 years. In his time, the average civil freedom has risen exponentially, the quality of life has increased three-fold, and the new average age of death is 85. We are disgusted at the words of the Uir people, and hope that they will rethink their action.

We thank the Faxanavians for their kind offer, and request that their forces land at Deans Airforce Base, near Gourmondinia's capital, Walton.

The Faxanavian C-130's beat ripples in the air as they descended toward Deans. The massive fleet was transporting nearly 15,000 armed soldiers, while the further 35,000 (Followed by artillery and combat vehicles) would be arriving in the next few days by boat from the south. For now, the Faxanavian armed forces trooped off of the plane and down into Deans. They would set up a basecamp in the area outside of Walton, and begin preperations to march west towards the enemy encampments. Within the C-130's, besides large number of troops, had been transported 250,000 Doomani DR-83M 21st Century Tactical Rifles. These would be used to equip the woefully outdated Gourmondinian army with a new, more powerful firearm. Captain John Woefelton, commander in charge of the deployment, informed the Gourmondinians of their arrival, and awaited the Megalith forces so that planning could begin.

A massive airlift operation was about to take place. Hundreds of planes from the military bases scattered across the Hu Tian Di archipelago readied for take off. Each held numerous units and supplies both for the army and for the Gourmondinian forces. Soon they took off. The supplies were going to be parachuted down to the ground to alleviate the load on the runaways of the airforce base.
These planes would carry the initial force of 2 marine divisions and 3 army divisions totaling 18,000 troops. A naval force was also en route carrying an additional 10 divisions, tanks, artillery and other heavy equipment.
At the airforce base the stream of planes waited in the ever growing stack of planes form other nations. It was a highly coordinated landing with plands taking off and leaving quickly. On the outskirts of the base those planes loaded with additional equiptment moved low over the ground dropping their boxes and light tanks.

off the coast two carrier groups would soon enter the territorial waters of the nation and would bring air support to bear for the Hu tian Di forces. It would be the first major operation undertaken by the military since the civil war and hopefully it would be successful

note on equiptment dropped:
of the items dropped the following is for the Gourmondinian government.
12 light tanks (think stryker group of the US army), 20 light combat craft (think a Humvee), 200,000 pistols (http://htddesigns.ipbfree.com/index.php?showtopic=3) and ammo, 150,000 NAR-92 assault rifles (http://htddesigns.ipbfree.com/index.php?showtopic=2).

"So we got any intel on what these Fascisimos?" asked Lt. General Orel de Guzman as he stepped out from the humvee and headed for his plane.
"Not yet sir," responded one of the officers.
"Well I want that intel asap...got it?"
"yes, sir."

Lt.General Orel de Guzman walked towards a C-5 Galaxy where he would be transported to Gourmondinia. The Franz Military Airport was packed as cargo and transport planes landed to transport military personnel. The terminals were filled with soldiers. As de Guzman look around, he saw columns of soldiers marching to their assigned C-5. Then he heard a loud roar not too far from where he was...it was a C-5 which had just took off. He also saw some of the platoons sitting around each other waiting to be boarded. Vehicles also littered the airport grounds. M-20 MBT's pass him while some of them climbed up the ramps of the transport planes. Humvees were also everywhere. Another C-5 took off, but de Guzman war used to the sound already.

Count Vagerstrouth read the letter over and over after it was handed to him, Oh god we can't go into another war. We just got out of one. He ran to the Czar's royal chambers and busted in, he was panting and out of breath.

Czar Nicholas shot straight up and looked at Vagerstrouth, "What is the meaning of this Count. It is four o'clock in the mourning!" Czarina Dianna woke up yawning.

"Oh hi Count Vagerstrouth," she blushed being in her night gown.

He kneeled next to his Czar's bed and handed him the letter, "It is urgent, it couldn't wait till mourning sire."

"Let me see that," he said snatching the letter to find out what was so urgent that he must be roused from bed, "Oh my god, you were right Vagerstrouth." He saw two servants run in hearing all the noise, "You two send messages to all my advisors and tell them to come to the meeting room for a dire meeting. Tell them it is absolutly nesessary that they come." The servants nodded and ran off.

"Vagerstrouth go there and prep the room," he said jumping out of bed. Vagerstrouth nodded and walked out.

"What is it dear, what has happened?" Dianna asked just getting out of bed.

"We might be going to war!" He said changing as fast as he could. After changing he rushed out and ran to his meeting room. There he found Vagerstrouth at the left hand seat, being the left hand man (the "normal" thing is to be the right hand man but since Nicholas was left handed he felt he should have a left hand man instead), and water on the table for everyone and coffee in a pot getting ready, Vagerstrouth knew this would be a long night as well.

The advisors started to come in one by one, all tired and mad to have to come straight away from bed at this time of night. They all were asking why they were here and what was so important. "Attention all!" Nicholas yelled trying to get everyone to shut up, "There is war here in Rodinia..."

He didn't even get to finish his sentence before the room erupted in chatter and painic. "Listen to me!" he yelled again, "The new kingdom of Gourmondinia has been thrown into civil war and we have been sent notice for aid." He paused for a minute to let everyone take that in. "We must decide wether or not to join the war, and which side to join."

The room once again went into a chaos of people yelling and shouting. They all cried for different things, some wanted peace, some wanted to crush the rebellion, and some wanted to help the rebellion.

"Your grace, we had our own rev. just weeks ago. Our troops are still reeling for a fight and are still keen on their skills. Most want to go back to Russia and fight another war. Now that is crazy but if we went to war here we could give them what they want. Now for the side we of course have to side with the rebels. It would be a contradicition to support Gourmondinia in the war. We must help the rebels in their rev!" cried George Tyfon, the head of all armed forces and third in command of the country as far as Nicholas was concerned.

"No we must not go to war at all your liege. The people just got use to peace time and are happy. We got rid of most of those horrible war bounds we used for a year. Do you all want to destory our economy on this war. Wars cost money and money is somthing we don't have. Staying netural is the only option we have that is smart!," Count Vagerstrouth pleaded with Nicholas.

Nicholas thought over it for a minute, "Send out a message to all the country, tell them all who want to go to war may go if they want, but as Gourmondinia soldiers not GNR's. That is my final say on the matter, dismissed" Nicholas sighed he wanted to go to war but Vagerstrouth was right they couldn't.

He went back to bed to sleep for another couple of hours before going to sooth the war wanting people and please the one who didn't want to the volunteers to go at all. When he got to his bed he saw Dianna once again asleep and crawled in next to her. He closed his eyes and found he couldn't sleep. After about ten minutes of lieing there he heard a noise, he opened his eyes to see a dark shape in the room with him, "Vagerstrouth?"

"No, die you socialist bastard!! For the Fascisimos!" the figure yelled as he pulled out a knife and ran towards Nicholas. Nicholas grabbed the pistol he keep on the night stand and turned the safty off. He fired three rounds that echoed through out the room, and probably the castle. The figure fell to the floor and Dianna woke screaming. He put the steaming gun down and stood up. Twenty guards armed with assult rifles came running in with their weapons ready, "If the assassin had been any good I would have been dead before you got here." He said turning on the light revealing the dead assassin wearing the Fascisimos new badge.

Count Vagerstrouth walked in and saw the body on the floor, "Well I guess this mean we are going to war right?"

"Yes Vagerstrouth yes we are going to war now."

Dear Franz Josphic,
The traitors that called themselfs the Fascisimos have sent an assassin to kill our Czar Nicholas Rutherford. We have declared war on them and are sending 100,000 trained soldiers, 20,000 of which are seasoned vets, 1,000 tanks, 200 aircraft, and 10 ships. They will be under the command of Gen. Goulberug, he has fought in three campaigns in our own rev. We hope our troops will help turn the tide against these bastards. Death to the Fascisimos!!

Signed,
Count Vagerstrouth, High Lord and Chancellor

We thank the people of GNR for their supplying of troops to help defeat this deadly menace.

General Charles Deleftman strode across the tarmac of Deans air force base, aids in toe. He was in charge of the Gourmondinian offensive against these Fascisimos. He greeted the leaders already present- those of Faxanavia, HuTianDi and Megalithon- and beckoned them over to him. He removed a map from his pocket, and unfurled it. The long, somewhat yellow piece of paper unrolled, and a map of Gourmondinia appeared.

http://img379.imageshack.us/img379/9892/gourmondiniabv5.png

Indicating the red spot on the map, he said, "Here are the Fascisimo forces. They've taken over a small section of the west, driving the civilian home guard back out into our territory. We've established a basic defensive perimeter with armed men and artillery, but our weaponry is very outdated. We've been trying to get these rifles," he indicated the rifles the Faxanavians and the HuTianDi (OOC: sorry if its the wrong demonym) had brought along, "out to our men on the front lines." He then indicated the city of Havershire. "We've got a large force here, and thats where the attack will be made from. In total, we've got about 100,000 Gourmondinian men, armed with these new rifles. We've also got a small airforce- around 150 F-5's, ready to fly. The Gourmondinian forces also have a small tank division, consisting of about 200 Shermans. There are more forces on the way, from your own country and from the country of Great Neo-Russia. However, the people of Uiri are backing the despicable Fascisimo. They're going to be a threat." He stopped, and looked around at the gathered commanders. "So, gentleman, what's the plan?"

OOC: Also, this just isn't fair, I am all alone against basically everyone. I know that we are supposed to go for realism, but seriously. Fascisimo = Right-wing. Are you all centre-left countries? I can't do anything about you being by yourself. That's your problem, and the challenge playing with the rebellion. As for the issue of the Fascisimo's minimal land control, the main problem is that they have superior weaponry, tactics, and numbers. Without outside help, Gourmondinia would have been lost to the Fascisimo's in a matter of hours.

OOC: exactly, I only sent several divisions of a much larger army, I could send more, I could send enough to inundate the forces in men and they would run out of ammo before I did men, but see I didn't because its not nessecary, this is mearly the supporting of a legal government, left wing or not. Thus my government policy is to support them and I sent some men and supplies.

While the enemy will never be defeated by air alone at least they can be slowed down until the forces here can be moved to an appropriate location. For now we should begin to move to contain the rebellion before suppression of it.

Deans Air Force Base

The last of the Megalith transport planes have landed and brought in all of the soldiers and vehicles. A whopping of over 300 Meg planes were grounded in the base. It was a pretty good size base to hold these many planes. UH-60s, Black Hawks, were being rolled down the ramps of C-5's. M20 Mackalls were gathered in columns in one part of the airport for last minutes inspections. Soldiers were also gathered in one massive group for further briefing. Some of the men were setting up tents for the operation. The biggest tent that was set up was the main Megalith Command Center for the whole force. Inside were the top ranking military commanders who were sent in. The head of this whole operation and the whole task force was Lt.General Orel de Guzman. He was with the lead transport, which had landed earlier. He was looking at the Gourmondinian map with a cup of coffee in his right hand. An officer came up to him...

"Sir, here are the allied and opposing forces status."
"Thank you." He took the paper and began reading it. He figured that the opposing forces would be in the east of the country, while the allied force are in the western part. He turned the next page...it was the ORBAT for Gourmondinian forces. He nodded as he continued reading the information.

Orel de Guzman gave the report to another officer who was sitting in front of a computer.

"Report to me for more information about both sides."
"Yes, Sir."
"..and one more thing: Call in the division generals and colonels for a meeting."
"Will do sir."

de Guzman drank his coffee one more time...

After many long days of work and strain, the Faxanavian forces were prepared to move out. The Gourmondinians were behind the times, that was for sure. They had spent several days training Gourmondinian troops in the use of their new firearms. Now, Faxanavian troops were prepared to move west. However, they awaited the arrival of the Faxanavian fleet, bound north from Faxanavia in the south. Now, those ships had arrived, and with them, an important tool- airpower.

"Dog 1, this is Dog 1. Check in." a chorus of voices crackled into life over Len Woodson's headset. As the voices counted themselves off, he checked in with the group leader. He, himself, commanded this particular squadron of 25 P22 AF-17 Mudhen fighters, the pride and joy of the Faxanavian air force. They were in bound for the area under the control of the Fascisimos, and prepared to mount an attack to cripple the rebel forces. In total, 125 planes (5 squadrons) formed the current flight group in bound for the Fascisimo encampment. It was heavily under cover of forest, but the Gourmondinians had given them a general idea of the location of where the Fascisimo's had started. The 125 planes were now bound for their target. 75 came fully armed with a spread of 6 GBU-39 Small Diameter Bombs, and the remaining displayed the usual spread of AMRAMM's and the two wingtip sparrow-missiles. They were prepared for combat, although they didn't expect any...

(OOC: Uiri, I'm gonna assume that you can manage the rebel forces from here on out. Also, if anyone wants more data on the P22, you can find it here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13268220&postcount=1).)

The rebels had spent the days Faxanavia had used to train those loyal to them in order to gain more ground. They didn't train the rebels, there was no time and they had bigger guns, too. The troops marched through the land, capturing as much as they could and encouraging people to rebel. They spread propaganda about destroying the Communo-Monarchist plot to raise taxes to 100% and give social welfare to everyone based on the whim of the King.

That got their support and the rebels were going to give up everything they had for their freedom. One for All and All for the State was to be the new motto of the Fascist State. There were promises of dropped taxes, fair and free elections. Two leaders, both democratically elected by the two chambers of parliament, preventing abuse by a hereditary ruler. No longer would the anachronism of a monarchy rule the to-be communist state if Uiri and the Fascisimos hadn't stepped in. They already had captured Glostham and were moving south and south-west.

OOC: What is the Capital?

EDIT: OOC: Razorl, don't interfere or Uiri will crush you.

OOC: Walton, as I've said a couple of times. And don't threaten Razorl. Certainly, Uiri might crush him. But, not for a lack of trying, and he could probably use the experience. Also, did the Uir bring AA?

OOC:

1. OK, where exactly did you say that?
2. Meh, he's commie and new. As long as he doesn't send in forces, it is fine by me.
3. Anti-Air? Well, I guess no. Keep in mind the Megalithon probably launched the Trojan Horse operation by now so we need to RP that before we get any further. I assum these two recent posts happen after the Operation.

OOC: 1.Well, I didn't say it, but Gourmondinia did. Several times. But, anyway...
2. Let him do as he pleases. It's an open RP after all.
3. True. One of us should TG him. But, yeah, my posts take place after that.

UPDATE:

OOC: After discussing with Faxanavia over IRC and comparing the ORBAT of Megalithon and Faxanavia, we have determined that most likely Operation: Trojan Horse would have worked and that Uiri would have gained up to the canal by this point and after Operation Trjan Horse a lot of the remaining land would be under fascist control.

We did not get to discuss specifics but for now I do believe that we have decided the following:

-DRASANGA, Razorl, HuTianDi, Great Neo-Russia appear to be out of the equation none of them have posted in this thread for atleast a week even though it hasn't been active, we know it is dead and that the only real players are Gourmondinia, Faxanavia, Megalithon and myself.
-Operation: Trojan Horse was a success.
-Megalithon & I have won the war.
-Gourmondinia is fascist.

What we haven't worked out is the specifics, like whether any of Faxanavia's navy or air force was effected. However he did agree that Faxanavia would have had to put in a lot more effort than Megalithon and I in order to win. We haven't worked out reparations, we have won the war, we deserve reparations for obstructing the peaceful hand-off of new regimes.

It is with this that I declare the war to be over. Again.
