President Thomas O'Donnelly stands at a podium. The Skibereenian flag behind him. He wears his uniform rather then a suit, he is well known to have never been comfortable with his office, as the position was not given to him y the people, it wasnt even a position he had wanted...it was thrust upon him by the untimely death of the true president, his friend.
If only he could've seen today, the fruits of his labor, what he had martyred himself to achieve ...peace, and finally free and fair elections among the factions with no bloodshed.
O'Donnelly spoke "Today marks a new beginning in Skibereen, an era of unity, an era of progress. No more will we be at each other's throats, will we be wondering if a neighbor sympathizes with our enemy. The enemy is gone, and only the neighbor remains.
We have survived wars of invasion, repelling the forces of nations arrayed against us in an overwhelming morass of steel, fire and hate. We survived and prospered.
We survived a century of blood letting among ourselves that made us the modern day barbarian spectacle of the world. A nation of wild killers, lawless bandits and religious zealots. We survived and prospered.
Now, finally we are at peace.
I say to you now I will not be seeking to remain in the office of President.
I have done my duty, both to my nation and to the memory that remains of the man that brought all of us together.
It is now my turn to enjoy this great nation of ours.
So while I will no longer lead you, I will vote with you."
With that last line the crowd erupted into a frenzy of cheers, Thamos O'Donnelly had been very popular for any number of reasons...not the least of which was his desire to shed himself of the weight of his office as quickly as possible without doing harm to the nation.
He stepped into a booth, and cast his ballot.
Red Hand Party
The Red Hand is the original ruling party of Democratic Skibereen. Having restored civil peace, and put in place the infrastructure for free and fair elections.

O'Murchadha National Party
The ONP is derived from the former largest paramilitary faction in Skibereen.
The ONP is also known as the 'Cousins Party'. The assistance given to the red Hand faction during the civil unrest is what helped lead ot the democratic elections in Skibereen. Their general neutrality in the war between the OSP and the Red Hand garnered great support among people in the affected urban areas. The ONP is judged as a favorite in the up coming elections.
