Into the shadows (Closed tight)

A short message was sent to the Kabavian intelligence agency in Algiers. It was intended for a special liason that had worked with the Royal Office of Information, and particularly Nassir before.

It simply read,

We need to talk, meet me at the cafe in 10.

After receiving the letter, it was decided that Abane Ziad was best suited for the job. He left to meet the man at cafe alone, despite it being odd to meet in civilian place rather than the head office. Arriving, he looked at his watch and was slightly late. Searching around the cafe, Abane sat beside a nonchalant Kabavian who was quietly sipping coffee.

OOC: I am about to use the most cliche spy line ever.

IC: "You're late. Let's take a walk." Nassir adjusted his sunglasses, stood up, and walked away with out even checking to make sure that Ziad was following.

Throwing down some to change to pay for the coffee, Ziad followed Naisser out into the crowded street. Eventually after 10 minutes of walking in complete silence they ended up in Dilem, a more upper class residential area famous for its rows of cherry trees. Ziad calmly walked a pace behind looked over his shoulder . Seeing no one muttered in French, a less spoken language in Kabavian "So what business do you have with the RMIA?"

OCC: RMIA is Royal Military Intelligance Agency.

Nassir slowed down to walk shoulder to shoulder with Ziad. "We've found some people, let's call them 'Enemies of the State', hiding in your nation. We would be much obliged if, for the next couple months, you 'overlook' a number of kidnappings that may or may not happen in some major cities."

Nassir examined the tourists taking pictures of the cherry trees, and immediately cut into an ally, walking swiftly. Once in the darkness, he turned to Ziad.

Ziad, pulling out a cigar said "The finest cigars in Kabavian." He lit it and took a rather large puff from it. "It would be rather hard for the agency to accept such a thing without any prior evidence." He took another puff, and looked back out towards the street. "However... between you and me, I believe I can convince this under my superiors to be a clause 17 under the constitution, being a threat to the king." Zaid took another cigar from his coat pocket and offered it.

Nassir accepted the cigar, quickly pulling a knife out of his pocket, slitting off the tip, and replace it. He then pulled out a match, and lit it.

After a long puff, he said, "We have an offer for your nation. You are aware of the new strategic bomber that Daedalus AAC just released? We can pull strings, and have the URPY pay for as many as you want, with out subtracting it from your nation's annual military stipend, as usual."

He took a long drag on the cigar, and said to Ziad, "Those planes are expensive. Just keep that in mind. Yanitaria herself can't even afford to replace the Air Corps fleet in one year, not will all the other things they are upgrading."

Ziad, was now even more intrigued. He knew this was important, but not to point of having an entire fleet of bombers payed for. The general would be very pleased about this, as Kabavian had already decided a majority of its military budget. "Then I'll just bring this by the general and skip the head office. With that kind of proposition he couldn't resist. He'll arrange for this to be dealt with and if needed, we'll ensure those people never existed." Ziad said, "But is there anything other information your willing to release about these people?"

"Just they are terrorists that are working to assassinate King Norheim." Nassir said convincingly, with a slight twitch of the ear. He started walking out of the ally, but stopped as a tourist shot a photo that was too close for his comfort.

"When you find out whether or not this plan flies, call me." He reached out to shake Ziad's hand, but concealed inside was a business card from Daedalus AAC with a number written on the back.

Ziad walked out the opposite way of the aly, and started to walk back towards the head office. Nothing suspicious caught his attention. After pulling some strings he sent this information to the general, who was more than willing to accept his offer. "Covering up kidnapping of some insignificant people is simple. Society could care less" he laughed. Ziad phoned the number on the business card later that evening, to give the general's reply.

Nassir was sitting on a rooftop, watching the RMIA building with binoculars, when he got the call. He picked up the disposable cellphone, put out his cigarette, and answered.

"What's the news, Ziad? I trust you won't disapoint me."

He searched for Ziad's window as he spoke.

"The general says he'll do what's necessary to cover up the kidnappings." Ziad replied calmly. He said down in his rather comfortable chair, and looked out towards the Mediterranean as he sipped his coffee. "If there anything else that will be needed to taken care of, it can be reached at my work cell". He gave the number, and had a chill go up his spine.

Nassir found Ziad just as he finished giving the number. He chuckled, forgetting that Ziad could hear him, and that he had no reason to chuckle.

"*Ahem* I'll call you if anything comes up."

OOC: If you want to post an assassination attempt, go ahead, Nassir will be watching.

He hung up his cell, and yelled down the hall that he was done his shift. He stepped outside into the night, and his intuition told him something was wrong. It was cloudless sky that night. Ziad made his way towards his car, parked only a few block down the street. As he went to cross the street, he was nearly hit by a car speeding by. "Stupid drivers" he mumbled to himself, trying to catch the license plate number, and angry as this was not the first time this happened on this road. He continued to walk towards his car, and stopped as usual in the cafe to get a coffee for the trip home. But as he got near his car, it exploded sending shrapnel everywhere. Ziad was blown back by the concussion along with his coffee. Dazed, he sat up and looked at his jacket now covered with the coffee, and back at the now blazing car. He knew that the car bomb had to have been detonated remotely, and this was obviously a warning directed at him. The only words he could muster were "Bastards ruined my new jacket...".

Nassir, extremely alarmed at what happened, jumped down the roof, grabbing onto a window, before dropping down the last story. He then hurdled a trash can and ran out to Ziad, in the process, narrowly avoiding a speeding car that seemed to swerve upon seeing him.

He ran to Ziad and asked hurriedly, "Are you alright?"

"Somehow..." he said in a shaky and mumbling voice. "I've reported the incident, though I have to admit I'm a little shocked I'm still here alive". Ziad pulled out a half smoked cigar from his last break before leaving the office, and began to smoke it. There was an awkward silence between the two before Ziad said between puffs "Though, how did you happen to be around? You'd think you would've been long gone by now.... though nothing implied."

"I make it my business to know what happens. Trust me, it's not in my best interest to start causing trouble here in Kabavia. I am guessing that either you are important, or somebody knows that."

He pulled a cigarette and lit it, before walking away. "Besides, I could have just shot you from your office window. You ought to fix that security problem."
