City of the Blessed International Airport(BCBI)

Jim Lange arrived back from the conference of neutral nations. It was late, and he had been flying all night. As he walked through Terminal E, many stopped to talk to him, about the job he was doing as leader, problems they had had with the government, how last nights baseball game had gone, or ask for an autograph. It took him 10 minutes to walk 50 feet from the door from the tarmac to the door to the street. When he finally pushed open the glass doors, he was relieved by the sight of his Presidential Convoy, limo in the middle, waiting to take him home. He rushed to the limo. Once in side, he threw his bags on the floor and laid down on the seat to get some rest, as the convoy pulled away from the terminal, at 1:47 on the dot.

Edwardo Listless Expressway, 7 miles from BCBI

The convoy sped down the Highway at 75 mph. It was a routine trip, which the limo drive, and protection detail in the two SUVs, in front of, and behind the limo, had done hundreds of times before, but this time it was different. At 1:55 and 45 seconds, the night air was pierced by the roar of a rocket, followed quickly by an explosion, as the lead vehicle in the convoy was struck by an RPG...

Breaking News 3-22-08 (0158)

The City of the Blessed-Reports say shots have been fired on the Edwardo Listless Expressway. Preliminary reports state that Jim Lange's convoy was traveling from the airport to the Presidential Estate. We have no word of the condition of President Lange, or on who fired the shots. We have units en-route to the scene, and will continue to keep you updated on this breaking story, and remember, you heard it here first.

In this ordinary, early morning the headquarters was almost empty except in one of the conference rooms were people had to sit on the floor as all the seats were taken.
The mysterious thing about this whole thing is that everyone wore the same suits and everyone had the same little logo on their right chest forming three letters - HIA, Helvetian Intelligence Agency.
One of them steps up to the podium and carefully takes a sip of water:

Another day at work. What do we have here? The president of Beatus, very popular amongst his followers, is the subject of an assasination attempt. Well, assasination isnät the right word for this...I'd like to say this was an attempt to brutally murder him. Launching an RPG at the convoy isn't discrete. At this moment we think the ones firing the RPG actually missed their target - President lange - and hit the first car of the convoy instead.
However, we have the responsibility to make the people of Helveticuz feel safe during this time of confusion. Therefor we cannot report of this recent happening. That's it. The only news is good news. Let's do this, people!

Edwardo Listless Expressway

Jim hit the floor just after the first RPG hit, just moments before the limo was rocked by a second explosion, as the rear escort vehicle was destroyed by a second RPG. It was only half a minute later when the gunfire started, though it seemed like an eternity to Jim. The bullets simply ricocheted off the bulletproof limo though. Then there came the banging on the doors, Jim didn't look up to see who it was. When those outside the vehicle decided that Jim wasn't coming out, they began placing some sort of device beneath the limo. Jim didn't know what was happening. He looked at his watch, which read 2:06 AM. It had been over 10 minutes, where was back up?

Live Report 3-22-08 (0206)

The City of the Blessed-We are broadcasting live from an overpass over the Edwardo Listless Expressway. The situation does not look good. We have identified two burning vehicles, as the escorts for the presidential limo, which is now surrounded by unidentified individuals. We cannot tell at this distance what they are doing, but they seem to be looking at something under the vehicle. Wait, they're all running away from the limo, and we can now see Beatusian Military vehicles approaching from the direction of the airport. It seems like this is going to have a happy ending. In the name of Bob! The limo has just exploded. Jim Lange's Limo, has just exploded. There is a flaming hunk of it has just landed not 10 feet away. Maybe he got out of the limo before we arrived. Bob willing he did. The soldiers are now exiting they're vehicles, and are pursuing the perpetrators into the forests to the north, while others are approaching the limo. Wait, a military vehicle is approaching our position now. We're going to have to stop broadcasting now, as the military wishes to question us, but stay with GNN as we continue to cover this developing story.

Beatusian High Command Briefing Room

The room was full of reporters when General Ronald Sanderson stepped up to the podium, holding a prepared statement. "Now, if you will all settle down, I have a statement to make," he said. The reporters all found they're seats, and the TV cameras started rolling. "Today, at approximately 1:55 AM, local time, President Lange's Convoy was attack, by unidentified forces. The military promptly responded to the reports of explosions, and shots fired, only to watch as what we believe was a bomb, explode under the Presidents Limo, severely damaging it, and killing all those inside. At this time, we believe that President was within the Limo at that time, although, will not be sure, until an autopsy is conducted, and DNA tests are preformed on the body found in the back of the Limo. In response to this attack, the military has gone to DefCon 1, and a nationwide curfew is now in effect. We ask that everyone remain in they're homes, and anyone found outside, will be detained, and held at a secure military facility, until this situation is resolved. Forces are now being deployed to defend important positions, including all Federal Government buildings, and all Embassies in the capital. I would also like to take the time to state that the current curfew extends to any and all foreign embassy personnel, who should remain at they're embassies for they're own safety. All air traffic is being grounded to, so any embassies operating helicopters, are asked to get them on the ground as soon as possible. Any of you who are not at your homes, should remain where you are. Bars will be permitted to remain open until the situation is resolved, and no business, or other public building may force anyone to leave for the duration of the event. Anyone cough forcing people into the streets will be arrested and charged with treason. I hope that you all understand the severity of this situation. We also wish to inform you that cell phone, and regular phone service will be unavailable as those lines are being commandeered by the government to facilitate fast and clear communication. Also please refrain from using wireless devices such as radios, as again we wish to keep the lines clear for military communication. That is all the information we have for you at this time, but as soon as we know more, we will give it to you. I will now take any questions from the national, or international press corespondents," the General said, looking out into the see of reporters.

A reporter from the Orbathian Times had entered only minutes prior, nearly missing the start of the briefing. She stood, directing a question towards the General,

"They appear to have been fired from the wood line at the side of the Presidential Limo, causing minimal damage, as the limo was bulletproof," the General replied.

Hans Corter, a reporter from the OGS News Station walked in to hear the ending of the General's speech.

"Also please refrain from using wireless devices such as radios, as again we wish to keep the lines clear for military communication. That is all the information we have for you at this time, but as soon as we know more, we will give it to you. I will now take any questions from the national, or international press corespondents,"

It was his turn now.

"Do you have any suspects in custody or any idea on why they did such a thing?"

"No, but troops are scouring the countryside in search of them. We do not at this time know the causes for these actions."

Essatia Rejius, an international reporter for one of Roma V's most prestigious newspapers, "Mercury's Messages", was standing in the crowd listening to the General's answers to their questions on the tragic event. She took notes on everything that was said. However, in between notes she stopped and her instinct wanted her to ask a question. So she raised her hand. When the General called on her, she stood up a bit awkwardly, her glasses nearly sliding off her nose. "Is it true that The Beatus has had problems with the existence of terrorist organizations in its borders in the past? If so could the affiliation of the assassins possibly be traced back to the most recently active one known as the Blessed Guard?"

"It is true that there have been recent issues with terrorist organizations, but the situation with the Blessed Guard has been settled. There is no reason to suspect either they, or the Royalists had anything to do with this attack, at this time."

He had more questions on his mind as as soon as the last one was answered he got up and asked the second largest question to come to him. "What will the punishment be for the suspects once captured? Also what will the outcome be if you do find out it was by the Royalists or members of the Blessed Guard?"

"The punishment for those responsible will be death, by firing squad. As to your other question, it would not matter, we would find every person who were involved in the plot, and they will be put to death, by firing squad, and until then the curfew remains. Which reminds me, unfortunately, due to the curfew, you will all be spending the night here. If you need anything delivered to your offices, or need to send your stories out via the internet or telegraph, etc. we will provide that for you, and provide messenger service between here and your respective offices. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this is for your own safety."
