National History Pt. 1

History before 1000 AD

The earliest recordings of civilization in Warwickovia began around 1500 B.C., when human beings began settling Warwickovia in the lush northern regions. Early life isn't much known today, but they did settle in brick and stone villages for most of their time. Their descent was traced to the Germanic tribes, but it is unknown how they got there. In 700 B.C., five disctinct kingdoms arose from the lands as follows:

-The Kingdom of Truscity, mainly paganistic and situated about 50 miles NW of modern-day New Brest.
-The Kingdom of Daxon, worshiped the Goddess of Wisdom, Korrana and lived in the harsh tundra enviroment south.
-The Kingdom of Warwick, where Warwickovia got it's name from and probably one of the most advanced of the Kingdoms.
-The Kingdom of Kovick, largest military power in the region and constantly fought with the other states
-The Kingdom of Budepeau, the state with the most land mass

A series of wars erupted between 700 B.C. and 62 B.C., most involved the goal to unite the kingdoms or fought over religious reasons. In most cases, the states failed in their objectives. The main reason was the lack of a charismatic and strong statesman to undertake this task. By 2 A.D., there were now 13 kingdoms, splitted by family factions within the former kingdom of Budepeau.

In 30 A.D., the Roman Empire attempted to conquer this region. 2 Roman Legions landed near the capital of Daxon and began their campaign to "civilize" the native peoples. Fortunately for the 13 kingdoms, these Legions consisted mostly of ill-trained light infantry from Britannia and at the Battle of Micah Towers, the united coalition of Kovick, Warwick, and Truscity defeated the Roman Legions and forced Rome to repeal the invasion of this land. A positive consquence of this war was the emergence of Kovick, Warwick, and Truscity as a united Kingdom called Warwickovia, situated in the capital of Zeriner.

Between 40 A.D. and 780 A.D., the Kingdom thrived from economic prosperity, opening trade routes with Europe and even with the Middle East. However, this would lead to the most deadliest natural disaster in all of Warwickovia's history. Relative to the Black Death experienced in Medieval Europe, the "Grey Death" in Warwickovia sprunged around 785 A.D. Thousands were dying on the streets from this mysterious disease, which today we know as Melioidosis. Mysteriously in 799 A.D., the plague ended with the loss of 16,000,000 people (A quarter of the population during those times.)

Out of the ashes of the Grey Death, the Kingdom began to recover. The loss of lives actually propelled the Great Feast Period (802 A.D.-1240 A.D.), where harvests resulted in massive amounts of food and beverage. In 1000 A.D., the peoples of Warwickovia finally realized their dream when the last independent state, the Principality of Mecklenberg, merged with the kingdom.

1000 A.D.-1411

Not much happended after the unification years, Warwickovia enjoyed alot of progress. While Christianity made its way into the lands back in 77 A.D., it made a huge boost in Medieval Warwickovia, allowing the construction of cathedrals and churches throughout the countryside. Luckly, Warwickovia was sparred the threat of the Black Death during the 1300's.

In 1406, war would revisit Warwickovia. Portugal, in its zenith of exploration, at first attempted to peacefully settle Warwickovia. Then it resorted to war when Kaiser James I refused access to the ports. Within months, the Portugeese Army occupied and burned Zernier to the ground. The so-called "Massacare of Zernier" would propel huge amounts of the population to resist Portugeese rule. Two keys battles would decide the war. The first was a naval one, off the coast of New Brest, where the outnumbered Warwick Navy defeated the Portugeese Navy by using fireships. The second one was on land, where 120,000 of Warwickovia's men faced the 140,000 manned army of Portugal. Through scheer boldness by the calvary, the Portugeese were forced to peace by the Treaty of Venice.
