I've seen a lot of Earth's lately, and, oddly enough, virtually all of them are set in the 1800's. A wide variety of Napoleonic, 1830's, 1850's, and so forth. There was a 1960's Earth, but it seems to be pretty dead at this point.

Anyway, I've tried in the past to get a WWII Earth going, and I joined one a while back too (it died, though. Mostly due to a combination control-freak/noob admin, much as I am loath to use the word 'noob', it suited him quite well.)
Anyway, this'd have to be an offsite RP since NS wont allow semi-historical Earths onsite anymore, and such things tend to die fairly quickly, but hey, we wont know if we dont try.
Anyway, I'm curious as to whether or not its worth the effort of starting something, gathering information and suchlike. I'd also like to know what people'd like in a start date.
I was thinking maybe 1935/1936, right before the start of the Spanish Civil War, which would give people a chance to play around with supporting some Spanish faction, and do away with the 'but I dun wanna go to war' apathy that tends to kill Earths early.

As a semi-historical RP, people will start out with their countries pasts fully intact. Once the RP starts, you'll be free to do as you want, within the realm of possibility, which means no sweeping democratic reforms under Stalin, Hitler converting to Buddhism and all that sort of thing.

Please, no 'dibs' posts just yet. Any claims to countries made here will not be respected once the RP starts.

I like that idea, though 1937 sounds appealing, too, just for the fact that the Sino-Japanese War was in full swing. Would give us some action early.

Hmmm, I'm leaning towards '37 or '36. The Spanish Civil War had pretty much been decided by '37, if I recall, but in '36 the Nationalists still hadnt totaly secured victory.

This is 1937, so I think that could be a valid possibility.

Dontgonearthere, I actually have a pre-set up RP Forum, for multiple RPs at one time.. Recently our current one has gone a bit inactive, but i'm working on getting more people for it and adding another rp. Perhaps we should have a system of advertising on one another's boards, get like minded people and alike. Anyway we still have the Republic of China and Nationalist Spain open as the Major Powers, or if you feel like being part of the jolly old Empire there's Australia and New Zealand too. Yeah, we had a little 'incident' a little while ago. Somebody decided to spam the board, so I disabled guest posting and required approval to post with accounts.
