The Armed Forces of the Republic

Like most nations of the world, The Peoples Republic of Sulaymaan maintains a central military force divided into several divisions or commands. The Republic requires at least four years active duty service be served by all its citizens from the age of 20 to 24, and all citizens remain in the reserves following their active duty service until the age of 64. The Sulaymaan battle doctrine is centered around highly mobile infantry forces, and air superiority on land and at sea.

Unlike most world militaries, The Republic emphasizes combat discipline for all ranks and positions in all branches of the Armed Forces of the Republic. Command staff, logistics personnel, and vehicle crews are all trained and must pass regular infantry-level combat proficiency and physical fitness tests. All ranks - from E-1 to O-14 - are considered combat ranks. No person is exempt from their duty to defend the national interest and ideals of The Republic.

Ranks across all divisions and commands of the Armed Forces of the Republic are standardized. Both men and women serve in The Armed Forces of the Republic, side by side, in all the same duties. Combat and Non-combat.

Police and Fire are counted in the Armed Forces of the Republic personnel counts, however, medical personnel are not. Police, Fire, and Medical services are all run and operated by the Armed Forces of the Republic.

The minimum age of enlistment in the Armed Forces of the Republic is 16. The maximum age of enlistment in the Armed Forces of the Republic is 64.

Current Enlisted Personnel (Volunteers); 21,500,000 (Combatants)

Advanced Enlistment Corps of the Republic;
The Advanced Enlistment Corps of the Republic (AECR) is a training program of the Armed Forces of the Republic present on middle school campuses to recruit and educate commissioned officers, or enlisted personnel. It is designed as a middle-school to high-school elective, and studies focus on leadership development, problem solving, strategic planning, and professional ethics. The AECR allows patriots of The Republic to enlist below the minimum age of enlistment (16), so long as they complete their middle-school and high-school education.

Enlistees of the program are immediately considered a member of the Armed Forces of the Republic at the rank of E-1. Graduates of the program are immediately enlisted into the Armed Forces of the Republic at the rank of E-3; unless they opt to participate in the OCR program - in which case they are enlisted into the Armed Forces of the Republic at the rank of E-5 while they attend college and the OCR program.

Officer Corps of the Republic;
The Officer Corps of the Republic (OCR) is a training program of the Armed Forces of the Republic present on college campuses to recruit and educate commissioned officers. It is designed as a college elective, and studies focus on leadership development, problem solving, strategic planning, and professional ethics.

Graduates of the program are immediately commissioned as officers of the Armed Forces of the Republic at the rank of O-1, and must serve a minimum of four years. Participants of both the AECR and OCR programs, are commissioned at the rank of O-3.

The Armed Forces of the Republic; Naval Command
The youngest military branch of The Peoples Republic of Sulaymaan, Naval Command adopts a modern long-range naval bombardment doctrine for both fleet and inland target engagement with an emphasis on missiles. Aircraft in the Sulaymaan Naval Command are more regularly relegated to air-superiority and fleet defense.

As fire personnel are of critical importance on naval vessels, the firefighting force of The Republic is provided by Sulaymaan Naval Command. Firefighting crew cycle between training, on-ship duties, and civil duties.

OOC: Your rank structures are an unusual mix of army and navy ranks. A little confusing to an outsider.

(Sulaymaan reserve standard)
The Armed Forces of the Republic; Reserve Command

Composed of nearly the entire Sulaymaan population, the Reserves are a critical component of The Republic's defense strategy. From an early age, Sulaymaan citizens are bombarded with propaganda and nationalist teachings. They are taught that death in battle against the enemies of The Republic is an unrivaled glory, and that cowardice never goes unpunished. The serial and tracking system in place by The Republic ensures deserters are always found.

Provided and maintained by the Imperium Assembly, all families in The Republic are furnished with a single supply cabinet. Usually mounted in the kitchen or living room of the home, the cabinet is made of painted steel plate and features the flag of the Peoples Republic of Sulaymaan on its front. Controlled by a central national system, with state - local - and on-site overrides, a electronic locking device seals the cabinet.

When the Reserves are called into service, the electronic device disengages and the family is provided with basic supplies. The only other time the lock is disengaged is for training/drill weekends, which occur monthly. Which weekend the drills fall on is determined by the states Praetor.

Inside the cabinet, are one (1) Ak-47 assault rifle (with care kit) for each member of the family over the age of 16. Two (2) thirty (30) round magazines per rifle. One hundred (100) rounds of ammunition per rifle. One (1) black Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) set for each member of the family over the age of 16. Six (6) Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) for each member of the family over the age of 16.

Standard procedure for the mobilization of the Reserves is as follows;
A general state of emergency is announced; all citizens return home.
Cabinet locks are disengaged.
Reservist equip and prepare for duty.
Reservist escort any members of their community under the age of 16, or over the age of 64, to their communities shelter.
Citizens over the age of 64, are charged with defending shelters.
Reservist report to their assigned rally location.
Neighborhood Master Petty Officer of the Republic issues orders for Reservist.
Reservist operate under the command of the Master Petty Officer of the Republic until the state of emergency is canceled.

Desertion, and the refusal to comply with the orders of a superior officer, are punishable by death.

Sulaymaan citizens are encouraged to invest their own funds into improving their families weapon and equipment cache, and it is not uncommon for Reservist to actually deploy with a mixture of international and domestic weapons, armor, and equipment.

A Reservist is anyone over the age of 16, or under the age of 64, who is not currently in active duty.

OOC; Naval Command and Reserve Command are for the most part finished, comments and critique welcome and strongly desired. I am focusing on making the Republic a MT/PMT nation.

(OOC: Sound all very nice, but your Armed Forces seems way too big for your nation. I tend to use a very easy rule that I found in one of the Nation States support page, which is 1% of the population is gonna be in the army. Following that thinking, your country could only support 1.320.000 men -including support and non combatants units- Following your maths you have almost 16.400.000 men. And we can not even start with the reservist -who are most of the time like a 0.3%- even in a complete and totally militant nation, the economy is just not gonna support it.)

OOC; The numbers come based on the fact that the country has a mandatory service for people age 20-24 (6.64% of the population, going off of United States age demographics), then you have a standard 1-2% enlistment, topped off by the remaining % of firefighters and police officers.

So anyone who wants to be a police officer, firefighter, or medical staff (the medical % is excluded from the count as it inflated the number further) must enlist in the military.

I've been considering switching to a 3:1 logistics:combatant ratio to compensate for that, but have also been tossing around the idea of infantry service required for police service. So, want to be a cop? Your also an infantryman by trade.

Also the reserve is non traditional, which is explained in the reserve command tab.
