OOC: I'm bored and have way too much time on my hands, so I'm doing this for personal amusement/reference. Don't troll, a response to a criticizing news report or something is fine.

Uranium and Oil, essential to modern day Shansekia
Tepar - This sprawling city northeast of Shansek was once a small town of 37 eating cacti for food in the near desert of the Central Valley. Now, though, thanks to the massive reserves of oil found near the area, hundreds of drillers flow through the city and other similar ones, looking for jobs mining the over 62 new oil wells - and counting - built in the area. Not only that, but newfound Uranium deposits found in the hills to the east have triggered a flow of miners as well, sending the town through the roof as buildings were hastily erected to accommodate the flow. Many new cities dot the desert, formerly devoid of anything larger than a village.
The hotspot of new oil wells and uranium mines, known as "Hot Stuff", was discovered a month ago by 22-year-old Jerald Cradly, who had accidentally hit oil while digging to the aquifer for a well. Word quickly spread out and Shansekia Corporation grabbed onto the chance, buying every single piece of land and declaring they would hire any driller or miner that "had proper certification". The offer drew in over 7,000 people into the area, literally smashing small villages in their stampede to get to the wells and mines first. While many believe that this will not only create a massive surplus of oil and uranium, which can be bought by the government and sold at slightly higher prices when supply cannot follow demand, some critics argue that the rampant mining and drilling will not only ruin the area as well as drain the area of its natural resources. Some counter by saying that the area's already a desert, and little damage can be done.
