The Eschex family, the most powerful family in the country. They included the Arch-Priest as well as Cardinal Maria-Eston, who controlled banking. Nathaniel Eschex was the younger brother of the two, having just entered his fourties. Known for his incredibly kind demeanor and witty sense of humour, the portly man was a common fixture of church services in the poor districts of the capital. Not wanting the attention and responsibility that his siblings received, he declined advancement in the church as well as positions in government. Very pious, he donated more than 94% of his money to local communities by the time he accepted a position as the head of a mission to the Unalligned States on the eastern coast of Southern Corsovia. So, the plane he was carrying was being tracked by the highest level of Marsh government.
So imagine their shock when it vanished from radar 300 KM northwest of the Unalligned State of Lokserc, 600 KM northwest from Arguin. One last transmission was sent, but some sort of interference rendered it useless. One last course trajectory towards Arguin seconds after the transmission was received before it vanished.

We all pray for His deliverance of these souls back into our land. The Arch-Priest has secluded himself for prayer at this time."
