After much deliberation with my Council, I have decided that it is both necessary and appropriate that I should take a wife, so as to propagate the Most Noble and Ancient House of Erikksen. I have searched my own land far and wide, however none of the women of Hryvinia suit my tastes. Therefore, I am extending this personal advertisement to all nations of the world, in hope that one will contain the perfect woman for me.

Now, a little about the woman I desire. In accordance with tradition and Hryvinian law, she must be of noble background and have had no previous marriages. As I am 25 years of age I would prefer a woman no younger than 20 nor older than 30. She should share my love of sports, the arts, and travel. She should be of relative attractiveness, though this is of lesser concern to me than the previously mentioned traits. Finally and most importantly, she must have good chemistry with myself.

The lady whom I choose will become my Princess Consort, and reside in Krogstad Palace with myself.

His teen years were turbulent, as he frequently rebelled against the rigidity of the Royal Family. When he turned 17, he threw a party at the Winter Palace which lasted for three days and sent him to the hospital with a near-fatal BAC. After that incident, his father enrolled him in Krogstad Military Academy with the hope that the Royal Hryvinian Navy would straighten him out. He graduated at the age of 20 and served as the executive officer and eventually the commander of the destroyer RHS Bjorn before his father's death prompted his early retirement from the Navy to assume control of his Kingdom.

Despite her academic inclinations, she found herself as the first female captain of her track and field team in college and won plenty of awards; she also had plenty of friends and admirers. After college, she enrolled in the University of Tzargrad and set a record during a race. Nowadays, she lives in a country manor with her widowed mother.

"Whoa boy! Easy now." King Sverre IV was on his daily horseback ride, breaking in a seldom-used trail within the palace compound. A light rain had been falling since that morning, and was now picking up steadily, forcing Sverre to turn back. The rain, naturally, had agitated his horse, and Sverre struggled to contain the animal as he galloped back to the Royal Stable. In the now-blinding rain, the sight of his palace and the Hryvinian flag flying from highest point on the palace was the sign he was waiting for that he was almost home free.

A few minutes later with his horse having been deposited in the hands of the stablehands, Sverre walked into his office, where he was greeted by his personal attendant Nikolas Carlsson.

"You seem a bit...wet, Your Majesty," Nikolas joked. He and Sverre had known each other since primary school, and he was one of the few in Court that would dare make such a joke.

"Yeah, I got caught in the rain," Sverre replied. "So, any luck with the wife hunt?"

"Yes Your Majesty, it would appear you have three suitors. The first is one Lady Kristen Taradox, of Zukariaa. She seems a bit...crazy. She even describes herself as such. I would suggest you avoid her."

"Nonsense," Sverre replied "I like a woman with a bit of fire in her. None of these dull royal stereotypes. Plus, as you can see," he said, pulling up a website on his computer, "she's got quite a connection. This would join our line with Questers, Praetonia and the Imperium Doomanum in addition to Zukariaa. That sort of alliance is not one to pass up. Still, go on."

"Your next suitor is the Princess of Ixiana. She seems to be the "dull, royal type" you described earlier. However, it's your call whether to meet her or not," Nikolas replied.

"I'll meet with her, but the third one is a bit too young for me. If you'll excuse me, I've messages to send to my suitors," Sverre replied. Nikolas then turned and exited the room, bowing deeply as he did so.

"You've been accepted, Hedwig. Congratulations."

An old woman sat by the fireplace; her blue eyes carefully studying the flames as she held a book on her lap. At her side was a beautiful young brunette woman with beauty that could easily bewitch people; she had the desirable hourglass figure and all the features of enchantingly beautiful women and that was sure, one of her friends though, to increase her standing in the King of Hryvinia's eyes; though she did not believe beauty alone would guarantee her being chosen. Both of them sat by the fire, discussing the King of Hryvinia's reply to Hedwig's application. Hedwig was quite anxious to meet the King but she did know that she had competition. If she was not chosen, it would not generate any hard feelings; Hedwig was not one of those women who would hate you for the rest of your life if you rejected them. "I wonder what he is like, mother." Hedwig uttered softly before kindling the fire. "It will be a pleasure and an honor to meet him."

Her mother smiled as she turned her attention from the fire to her daughter; she had always been glad that the King of Hyrvinia was considering her. "Make sure you do not be some dull royal lady, Hedwig. Just be yourself. The King of Hryvinia, I am sure, does not want to get tied down to a boring woman."

Hedwig giggled a little but understood what her mother meant; knowing that her mother was serious about what she was saying. "I will not bore him; I am sure that I will not. He is an athlete like me, you know and I am sure he'd enjoy hearing about the exploits of a fellow athlete. To be honest, I'm somewhat worried about the Zukaarian. I wonder what she will be like; if I ever do meet her."

"If you do; be courteous and respectful. Perhaps, if she is chosen over you, you could at least make the Zukaarian woman into a friend; the same can be said for the King." After a while, Hedwig prepared a message for the Hryvinian monarch and was mentally preparing herself for the meeting.

It is a pleasure to read from your letter that you have considered me as a possible bride, Your Majesty and I thank you for doing so. I was assuming that I would be visiting your nation but you are more than welcome to visit me in my nation; in fact, you will be given a guest room at my family's manor. My mother has expressed a desire to meet you and she assures you that the manor, the guest room and so forth will be suitable to you. Please do not hesitate to notify me when you are able to visit. I look forward to our meeting.

The letter was swiftly sent to the Hryvinian monarch and while her mother slept, Hedwig was too focused on the meeting to even consider getting into her bed.

The royal family was sitting around the large widescreen television watching the evening news before dinner was served. Contrary to many royal families, outside of public functions and the prying eye of paparazzi, the Hryvinian royals were rather like most normal Hryvinian families albeit with much more money and a few fancy titles. As the first round of commercials came on, the personal aid to His Majesty King Sverre IV came in, bowing deeply. It was not usually that he did this since Sverre was not particularly strict on the matter when it came to fellow nobility, but HRH Sophie, Queen Consort was in the room and did not approve of breaks in protocol. After being instructed to rise, he beckoned Sverre to his office, whereupon Sverre got up and walked through the spacious palace to a spacious office filled with shelves full of books and various animal heads taken in hunts throughout the centuries.

"Your Majesty, your suitors have replied. The Zukariaan one seems to live up to her blurb. She basically says 'marry me or I'll have you castrated'," the aid summed up. At this, Sverre could not contain his laughter. "Is that really what she said?!?," he asked, taking the letter himself. After skimming it, he again began laughing, even harder than before. "This woman is either crazy or gutsy. I cannot wait to see the face behind such wit! Begone, I have messages to type."
