Brunch with an Imperial Officer (Closed; ATTN Greston)
Dictator Durant Adams sat in his office sipping his morning coffee as he was studying a flie in his office of diplomatic relations.
He then pulled out a contract his late father, Roland, wrote while dictator. It was labled: "Eyes of the Dictator Only Under Penalty of Death". Since now Durant had been chosen as dictator, he supposed it'd be okay to look at.
He then saw what it said: "Conquest of Greston Plan". He then typed in the word "Greston" in his computer on "Yippie! Search" and got a profile. He read through its history with Taeshan and the Pacific Island States, and looked through his father's folder.
He picked up the phone and called Greston's leader. He got a voicemail and said, "Hello, um, Leader of Greston. I apologize for not knowing your name. I would," he looked at the folder and put it in the OUT pile. "I would like to plan a brunch with you in a nearby place that wouldn't be a trouble for us to fly to; Greston or Miroxia or my colonies; it doesn't matter to me. Anyway, call me back at (647-890)-213-9087.
"Come on Sammy girl, leave Bruce alone."
President John Batther pulled on his Gold Retriever's , Samantha, leash pulling her away from his plush coat German Shepard named Bruce. He had gotten those two as well as a female Akita and male Huskie from the nation of Breeders and Women. Whenever one of the pups would need to go he would walk his Shepard, who was a year old, with them to help train them.
The training was going well and already the Akita and Huskie were completely housebroken. The Retriever needed some more training. They both had gone and John was bringing them inside. John put them back into the group of rooms in the back were all of his private rooms were and then leaft towards his office.
John walked down the hallway leading to his office and waved at his secretary as he walked up to her desk.
"Hello Jean, did I miss anything?"
Jean smiled and answered, "Yes, some nudists wish to talk to you and some solcailist nation named Volzgrad threatened us."
John nodded, nothing under the ordinary. He began to walk towards the door to his office when his secrectary chimed in.
"Oh and that phone rang."
John smile dropped into a worried, nervous frown and he turned around and walked back up to her desk.
"That phone? The phone?" said John in quiete surpirsed voice with a hint of worriedness.
"Yes sir the phone rang while you were out."
John became frantic inside and started muttering, "Oh no."
Hurriedly he walked into his office. He then walked to one corner were there was a wooden stand and a glass top. It was dusty because it hadn't been used in so long. Then John played the voicemail.
The Pacific Islands Phone had rang. It had only been used twice before, both of the times during the Tashen Expansion War.
John threw his coat on, plopped his hat on and walked outside of his office.
"Jean I am going to Taeshaet. Cancel any appointments for the next day or so."
"Taeshaet? Why are... Sir what are you doing? You don't have a trip scheduled to there."
"Yes well Jean you don't understand that the Dictator of Miroxia just contacted me, using the phone, and asked for me to have a brunch with him."
"Oh dear."
"That is what I said. Get two Imperial Reds down here and one Electorial Guard aswell."
"Yes sir."
*****
John had called back and said that he would be going to Taeshaet and that he could meet him there. Jackson Walts, Kerrig Myers, and Daniel Richers had come down to the airport with him and would accompany him in Taeshaet. They each had an AK-47 and two Colt Pistols. John had two Colts on him aswell, like he always did. John hopped onto a private plane of his and in half an hour he was at Taeshaet, waiting in the Taeshian Presidential Dining Tower.
Durant's flight was short and quick as he arrived in Taeshaet. He took a deep breath as he walked to his rental car. His guard, Keneth Marsh, was accopanying him as he drove throught the port city. He saw numerous war plaques along the way.
He soon arravied at the Taeshian Presidential Dining Tower. He walked up to the front desk and said, "Excuse me, but which room is President John Batther in? I am to meet him for a brunch." He looked at a clock on the nearby wall. 11:10 am, perfect for a brunch!
"He's in room 450 on floor twelve," the counter man said.
Durant nodded as he walked to the elevator. Keneth was taking his car and luggage to the hotel, Imperial Taeshaet, which they were staying in. He got in the elevator as it rose 12 floors.
He then found his way to room 450. He opened the door as President Batther sat, looking worried.
Durant ignored this as he took his seat. "So how've you been Mr. Batther? I'm Durant Adams of Miroxia." He extended his hand for a shake as John shook it.
He picked up the menu and studied it. John already had his beverage, so when the waitress came, Durant took a morning coffee with some sweet and low and creme.
He mixed his coffee as he took out some cherry powder to flavor the drink.
"So I understand you and Solenial; Taeshen and the region have had some troubles in the past." He then sipped his coffee and continued, "Well, I will have none of that grudge. I'm willing to forgive, forget, and talk diplomatic relations over some brunch.
He sat back and eagerly awaited a reply.
John shook the man's hand and sat down. The events transpired and John answered.
"Ah yes, Solenial, Tashaen for that matter, haven't always been in good terms with us, thus the reason we are meeting here, this is result of a war we had with the region. Your region."
John sipped a cup of water he had, he disliked coffee and it was too early for tea, or vodka for that matter.
"First off sir, why did you wish to set up this, this meeting. It was suprising. I must admit sir you got me by surpise. That phone you called by was never used before. Maybe twice but that was during the war."
John's voice trailed off as he looked out the window that covered most of the room that wasn't facing inside. John hadn't been to Taeshaet since after the war and it looked much different. John awaited an reply as his eyes wandered around the city he looked down upon.
Durant smiled as the waitress walked by. "Do you need some more time?" Durant said, "Come back in 5 minutes, please." She the left as he continued, "I wanted to establish a good friendship with Greston. I know it must be hard to not have an ally in the Pacific Islands, so allow Miroxia to fix that."
He sipped his cherry coffee.
"Anyway," Durant started, "you seem like a very well established nation. I would be honored to have a relation with said nation. I mean, if you could make Taeshan surrender this large island, which, tch, could be a major trade route spot is very wise in militia. Sure the nation thought it was unneeded, but this island is Pacific gold!"
The waitress came back as Roland ordered, "I'll have the Breakfast platter, but could I get bacon instead of ham?" She nodded as she wrote down his order. Then they both awaited President Batther.
John attended to the waitress first and order his brunch.
"Ah, ma'am, I would like a nice cup of warm tea to wash down some ham, potatoes, and eggs."
John smiled and nodded her off. Once she left the once again he answered Mr. Durant.
"I found out how valuably this land is when I came to speak to the new Grestonians right after the war. This island is right outside of the larger part of the Pacific Islands so I can see how big of trading spot this could be. But still, you Pacific Islanders haven't always been so peaceful towards me."
John was about to go on when the waitress walked back in. He took his tea out of her hands and she placed the platters in front of each leader. John began cutting his food when he started again.
"So what do you purpose Mr. Durant? Trade routes? Free trade? Investments? You name it sir as I still have no clue as to what you want to get at. But I am sure it isn't that you believe we are a great nation. So what do you want from sir?"
John finsihed off his sentence, waited a few seconds and put a peice of ham in his mouth and chewed.
Durant looked at the platter of cereal and milk, pancakes, sunny side up eggs, bacon, and some toast. He then carefully poured some syrup over the pancakes as he cut his first bite. He chewed it and swallowed, then washed it down with his cherry coffee.
"It has come to my attention that major Miroxian trade routes circle Taeshaet, sorta like an orbit to get to Uiri and Rechburg and back. The ports of Taeshaet would be good to export our famous Miroxian armed weapons and Miroxia would benefit from Taeshian and Grestonian goods."
Durant then took out a map from his pocket as he ate some bacon and toast. He wiped his mouth and laid out a map with current trade routes and trade routes with Grestonian stops, along with the technical percentages and facts of establing the route. He took out a laser-pointer pen and pointed to selected Taeshaet ports.
"As you can see," Durant said, "ports located on the side to selected islands could only get minimum time, but we could make it work. After getting your goods from said ports," he moved the laser to some islands, "Miroxia would trade a pecentage of Grestonian good to nation like Uiri, get their goods, and circle around to the northern parts of Taeshaet, trading off Uiri (oocUiri is just an exaple) goods to you and head back to Miroxia, which would get you your "enemy's goods" without having a conflict. Think of Miroxia as a leaky vessel between Greston and the Pacific Islands and think that Taeshaet is your pipe fix-kit."
He put away the map and contiuned eating, awaiting a reply.
John chortled as Mr. Durant put the map away. Then John asked Mr. Durant a question.
"What if I was to say no?"
John gave a quick chuckle again and then he continued on with his side of the dialogue.
"You see, the thing is, you act as if we trade with other Pacific Island nations. Now the truth behind that is that we don't so there is no need of all of this. None what so ever. Taeshaet is outside of the PI and no one has to pass it to trade with eachother in side the region. You can make a semicircle around the part of Taeshaet that faces Uiri and the rest of the PI. There is no need for any of what you just purposed," stated John once again, "Taeshaet is in the way of nothing so for you to carry out this plan would be going out of your way and wouldn't be economically reasonable."
John ate some of his ham and then ate a peice of his eggs. He laughed a little bit as he swallowed then John spoke up again.
"You still haven't answered me. What do you want from me sir?"
John looked around the inside of the room. The Imperial Reds were in another room and the Electorial Office Guard wasn't in the room at all and John had forgotten where he went but remembered he leaft.
Durant ate some more, swallowed, and chuckled, as he said, "What I want from you is an alliance. That is all."
"And are you sure you don't want to steal Taeshaet from me? What you said to your Pacific Islands Leaders says differently then that you just want an alliance."
John finished off a peice of ham and then chuckled in his head. Then he remembered where Daniel Richers, the Electorial Office Guard, had gone.
"That was earlier. I knew we had rough times, so I thought well, Taeshaet should be free. But then," his face dropped as he pulled out the file for dictator's eyes only. He had crossed that part off. "I found my father's file. Now I don't want a war, trust me; I felt you needed an ally, my father wanted your whole empire! Now I realize that an alliance could strengthen a build a nation powerhouse!"
Durant continued to eat.
"Well then your father was quite stupid if he thought he could do such a thing."
John sipped some of his tea and smoke rose into his face and his drank. He placed the cup back down upon the table and started talking again, to finish his conversation.
"But how am I to know that you aren't stupid too? There are quite a few sayings that could fit into here, 'the apple doesn't fall far from the tree' 'like father like son' and so on. Hell you could be planning to take my empire but maybe you want a portion of it. Maybe you just want Taeshaet. You did request to have it not to long ago."
John sipped some more tea in between sentences as he talked.
"Also you said that you needed more territories. All of this has been happening and then all of a sudden you wish to ally with me. I am still quite confused on why you decided to want to ally with us."
John had some more tea, and chortled out, "This entire situtation is confusing."
Durant finished meal and stood up.
"Well, an alliance doesn't seem to be in the future, Mr. Batther," he said putting on his coat. He left the bill money on the table and contiued, "Thank you for this oppertunity."
He then walked out and waited for a cab outside.
John still hadn't gotten an answer. He sipped off the last of his tea and called in the waitress.
"Ma'am, I would like some more tea please."
He waved her off with a smile and then he turned back to Mr. Durant.
"Sir I would like to tell you we both run respectable, large nations. Each of which have a good number of colonies and protectorates. WE have both sent our men into war on numerous occasions so you can just say it. If you want a war to liberate Taeshaet from me just tell me. I would be glad to fight you."
EDIT: I amde this before you posted. Can you just have Mr. Durant turn around when at the door or something?
Durant was caught and replied, "If you want war, fine. But I wish not to engage in a worthless battle that should I lose, not only would noble soldiers die, but the empire of Miroxia would fall."
He awaited an answer.
"I'm not the one thinking of liberating Taeshaet though. If there was to be a war it would most likely be you as the agressor. Don't think I am stupid sir, I caught you when you said to your regional leaders that you thought they should attack Taeshaet. Remember, this land is mine. A war by you would be utterly stupid and not only would I thwart it but I would have my men then move on and go into your nation."
John finished off his new cup of tea.
"See now I know that you aren't as stupid as your father. Very good."
Durant then yelled, "Hey, no one man should call my father stupid! By the way, how do you know what I said?"
John chucled for a quick second and said in a much more calm, assertive tone.
"No one man aye? Well then I guess I could tell my soldiers to call your father stupid as then it won't be 'one man'. I knew about what you said because you said it out in the open, which is the public. And when something is announced into the public other people, even people who you didn't want to hear mind you, can see and hear what was just announced so in that case you are the dumber of the two. The two being you and your father. Your father kept invasion plans upon Greston secret and you announce."
John laughed quietly and sipped some more tea and then decided to add more to his part of the dialouge.
"Maybe some more years in preschool can help you in that feild."
Durant looked at President John Batther of Greston, about to tell him off when his phone rang. He had received a text from Keneth about the Pacific Islands Confrence. He read it and said to President Batther, "I have no time for these insults of me and my father! I have a confrence to go to." With that, he left.
"Oh yeah," he added, heading out the door, "You're invited."
John was surprised he had expected to see his flying and have Mr. Durant come running at him like a madman or at least curse him out. But none of that happened. In his mind he burst in laughter, his remarks would eat at the man's brain and drive him crazy. Someday Mr. Durant would wish he did insult John but that was the future and then was now.
"Oh well, don't expect to see me there, I have more important business to tend to sir."
John was a bit stunned he was invited to a Pacific Islands Conference. That came to him with big surpise. John would have the representitive from Taeshaet attend.
