OOC: Yeah, my first and last post. I RPed a war with some of my friends in the region we created, and we RPed it offsite, and I am too busy to run my nation. So, here for you RPing pleasure, is my nation. Do what you will with it. No government is left, my capital has no power, and my military is stretched. Have at it. I would have been more active, but too much is going on in my life. Perhaps again someday? FYI, I'm MT.

"-The news is still coming into the offices here at the SNA, but for those of you who are just tuning in here is what we can tell you. Early this morning, around three, multiple trucks loaded with unknown numbers of rebels rammed the gates of the presidential compound and then stormed it. We regret to inform you that the president, Armond Tolin, was executed. An hour later, rebels attacked the emergency session of parliament. Multiple elected officials were killed, many more were wounded. Rebels have continued attacking government buildings and forces here in the capital, and we are receiving word that similar attacks and uprisings are occurring in other cities as well. Government loyalists have been hard-pressed to hold back the rebels due to severe losses and budget cuts after the Eversi War. Analysts say it is possible that the uprisings have been urged by the Holy Marsh, who withdrew her forces after the war under pressure from the other allies to maintain long-term peac-"

The situation in Shanestan was brought to the Emperor's attention by the intelligence service. Reports of the nation falling into utter anarchy had been pouring in all day, and this was seen as a chance to expand the Empire.
Marshal Wolfang Hinka, commander of the Imperial Armed Forces in the absence of Grand Marshal Gerhard Repke, suggested that his glorious armies claim the crippled country. Some 500,000 men were sent, including some 50,000 men from the Serpent Guard and several thousand priests and priestess of Apophis to convert the populace. The rebels would be easily dealt with, Hinka thought.
A few weeks later, the Imperial Marine Corps arrived in their ships and began the invasion.

IN THE INTEREST OF INTERNATIONAL PEACE
The United Republic heard about ANOTHER nation in turmoil and decided it was time to set an example of nations government collapsing. An example that would last until the ends of the earth. One such example was possibly invading, but that would cost too much. Considering the fact that many of the Nuclear Stockpiles were wasting away at the Peoples taxes, the Government, in its wonderful thinking process, decided to basically dump the excess nukes on Shanestan.
So it was alerted to the Nuclear Silo personnel, and Satellites acquired coordinates to no place in particular in Shanestan. Cities weren't targeted, just areas were population was low and nothing seemed important. Mostly the forested areas and farming communities, where nothing important could possibly come from there. A few military sites were found and targeted, but other than that fallout projections taken into consideration figured that the larger civilian populations wouldn't be effected.
If they were, it didn't matter. Only fifty nukes would be launched, and about twenty Hydrogen Bombs. Using those alone saved the United Republic countless Billions in expenditures. Since this place had no government, and it was likely to return to power, Anagonia didn't want to really destroy it. Not really. They just liked to see explosions.
2020 Hours, 8:20 PM Standard
Defense Condition One was alerted to the High Command, and the Chief General Himself looked over the number of weapons systems being launched and nodded in approval. These numbers were the excess, and he really didn't care what happened to the turmoil on the ground, nor the new nation that sought to control it.
At 8:21 PM Standard Time, he pressed the button, figuratively. Orders were given, and fifty Nuclear Silos opened their heavy-titanium shield doors as Minuteman II Missiles blasted away with twenty KT of Nuclear Obliteration. Miles away in the deserts, twenty titanium Blast Doors opened to launch 20 MT Hydrogen Thermonuclear-Tipped Missiles at various targets across Shanestan.
This was a beautiful sight to the People of Anagonia, and all tuned in to the special channel to view the Armageddon destruction, and to replay it on their TiVo's.

The collapse of Shanestan was discussed in the church, at least as how to profit from it strategically. The Hitlion Mountain range lay fifty miles from the border with the Holy Marsh. In the Eversi War, it was the site of the only meaningful resistance to the third army's advance into the country. It was also an interesting point where, in the future, the nation could resist any invasions by the Vile Lard. However, for a few weeks they saw no reason to take immediate action, so the forces planned for "Operation: Viktor" were grouped together. It was earmarked to the sixth army and the third-eleventh Holy Warriors.
That was, until Hinka's men showed up.

"Get up."
Marcus woke up quickly and shot up, the crust in his eyes brushed aside as he rubbed them and yawned loudly.
"What's going on? We finally moving out?" Marcus asks, noting that his friend is in full cobat gear.
"Yes. We're departing in an hour. Move." The man finished. The dim lighting of the tent that housed twenty wasn't helped by the fact it was pitch black outside, but it certainly made Jeremy look scarier than he really was. He was five foot nine, maybe one-seventy. How he could lug around the SAW was beyond Marcus' logic.
"Okay, I'll be there soon." Marcus says as he starts to put on his boots. He slept with them on for the first ten days, expecting to jump out at a moment's notice. After his foot started itching terribly, he decided to not do that anymore.
A few minutes later, Marcus left the tent and made his way to the line of IFVs and other assorted vehicles. Off in the distance, he could see hundreds of silhouettes bathed in an eerie red light from flares that had been dropped to help line of sight in the darkness. Squinting, he made out the number "766" on an IFV, the IFV he was assigned to and, therefore, his squad's. Outside of the IFV, Jeremy and five others stood in a line as the seargent told them what exactly was going on. He was using a small notebook with his old Eversi War drawings as well as a small data-pad that received army-wide information. It was much better than the drawings.
"Private Yahlan, happy to see you could make it. I was just explaining to your faster brothers here what our objective is." Sgt. Perosi said as Marcus drew near. He showed Marcus the data-pad. They were on the border with Shanestan, far enough away to be outside of any possibly raid radius, close enough to get there in under an hour. Three small towns were projected, and a picture of an IFV went from one to another and then to the mountain range.
"Our battalion is tasked with clearing all three of these towns. Intel says that there is a heavy rebel presence when one takes into account the rather sparse population, so keep tight."
Two red spots were near the middle and changed into two red tanks.
"We also know that as many as six hundred Shanestanian loyalists are in this area; intel has pinned them to those locations. Engage and destroy."
The one IFV started on the path again, but this time split into three. One IFV went to each town, with a friendly tank appearing in support of the middle IFV.
"We are splitting up into three groups of two companies each, with an armored company of HAT-1's coming to support the middle force. We are part of the force that will take the first town, the closest to the border, Mescer."
New information rolled onto the screen. Meser had a population of 19,890 and had fallen in six hours in the Eversi War. Beyond that, it was considered a vital highway checpoint for traffic coming into and out of Holy Marsh.
"The objective is to take these towns so we can more easily supply the main thrust which is happening miles to our east. The road they will be taking to resupply is longer, but safer for now. Once these towns are cleared, we can resupply far easier." Perosi finishes. He looks around.
"You ready?"

Nuclear launches were detected, alarming members of the Church. Their projected areas of impact were mostly in the fertile lands of the north, away from the arid south that reminded them of the Holy Marsh. Some even saw this as a good sign; with the area so radioactive, the Vile Lard may not ever wish to land troops there, turning it into a buffer zone.

The IFV's ride started off somewhat rocky, but more comfortable than the Stryker was offroad. Perosi just focused on telling the new guy, Private Yahlan, what it was like being in combat. Yahlan had started his service two days after the Eversi War had ended, which meant he had a year of training under his belt. That automatically made him the least well trained soldier that Perosi had ever commanded or served with. Suddenly, the data-pad on his thigh went off. Perosi picked it up and looked at it. He looked at it alrmingly, then he grinned.
"Gentlemen, some superpower has decided to nuke northern Shanestan. We'll be able to take the south fifty, leaving one thousand miles between us and the closest nuke," Perosi said. "Leaving a nuclear wasteland of a buffer zone between us and the coast, and therefore more separation between us and the Vile Lard."
Grins all around, and they grinned as they crossed the border.

The Empire has no interest in the Hitlion Mountain range. We are, however, planning to claim most of the nation.
-------------------------------------------
After establishing a beach head and a base of operations, the Imperial Armed Forces began the real invasion. The 12th Serpent Guard regiment, under the command of Colonel Stever, encountered the first rebels.
Colonel Stever, in his command APC studied a map of the region. "Major Krug, you and your men will take this village here, while Majors Schröder and Kruspe take the next two. Expect no artillery support. Understood?"
"Yes, Colonel!"
Soon after, men in black uniforms wearing white armbands bearing the symbol of Apophis had encircled (sp?) the first village under the cover of darkness. A few flares were shot to help the soldier see as they charged into the village, their battlecry "For the glory of Apophis!" roared. In the middle of everything was Corporal Schwarz along with his squad, taking cover behind something that had once been a truck.
"Private, get your MG into position!" he shouted over the noise of automatic weapons and grenades. "You two, get that enemy MG taken out!" His men followed his orders silently, and with a few well-aimed grenades the MG position was taken out, allowing them to move forward. By dawn, the village was taken, with minimal friendly casualties.
The surviving rebels were forced to dig mass graves for their fallen comrades, after which they were sent back to the command outpost, where a POW camp had been set up. The village's church (ooc: I'm assuming that the country is Christian) was set on fire, and the vicar hanged to a tree. A priest of Apophis arrived, and from the balcony of the village hall, he spoke to the inhabitants who had been gathered to the village square, where the soldiers were throwing Bibles and other Christian books into a pyre.
"Your days of worshipping false gods are over! Accept the great and wise Apophis into your hearts! Bathe in his glory! Accept him as your god, and his blessings will surely come upon you! Those who are prideful and refuse to bow down to Lord Apophis shall be laid low and made into dust. Bow down to Apophis!"
Some villagers were stubborn enough not to kneel down. A few blows to the back of their knees were dealt to assist them.
The priest continued "Hail Apophis!"
The soldiers repeated his words.

Halsanki, Principality of Northern Rangeria
March 10th, 12:33 GMT
"Are these reports correct?" asked Mikhail IV, the young monarch of the Principality. He was sitting in a private session with Duke Stapani Aalthone, the Minister of the Exterior, and Prime Minister Veele Alane. On the large mahogany table were spread out intelligence reports from Shanestan, ranging from satellite photographs to field reports from relief workers and diplomats who had been stranded in the area after the fall of the Shanestani government.
"I'm afraid so, Your Majesty", the grey-haired Duke Aalthone said, shaking his head. "We have confirmation of nuclear explosions, and the relief workers in the south have reported Puritanian atrocities against civilian population."
"Our options?"
"Limited, sire", Prime Minister Alane said, putting down the transcript of a horrified relief station radio operator accounting the destruction of the village. "We do not have the forces necessary to influence the crisis directly, and it is highly unlikely that the Pro Patria Puritanian government will react to any kind of diplomatic pleas."
"How many citizens are in the area?"
"Approximately twelve-hundred in total, sire. Many of these reports indicate they fear of being attacked while still there."
Mikhail leaned back in his chair. "We cannot accept this, but neither can we do much about it. Would evacuating our nationals be an option?"
"With an armed escort force, I think that is possible", Aalthone said, tapping his fingers lightly against the table. "What of our relations with the Puritanian government?"
"You know my standing, old friend... Association with a nation that commits such gross human rights violations cannot be continued."
Aalthone nodded. "I see. I will send them the letter."
"Do so."

Before the day was out, a squadron of military airplanes from the Northern Rangerian Defence Corps was approaching the once-sovereign territory of Shanestan. Transmitting on a continuous loop was a simple but understandable message: "To all military forces in Shanestan. This is the rescue effort from the Principality of Northern Rangeria. We are here to evacuate our citizens from the area, as well as any Shanestani national who desires to leave. We are on a mission of peace." The squadron consisted mainly of VTOL planes, breaking off into smaller units in order to disperse themselves into the remote cities and villages where the Northern Rangerian civilians were.

We will disregard your notion of trying to validate the Serpent Guard's actions by claiming they were simply doing what has been done in the past. The reality still remains as follows: The landfall of the Serpent Guard included the destruction of a local church and the killing of a local clergyman, both typical signs of religious persecution. The Principality cannot abide this, nor risk endangering our own nationals still in the area - some of whom are relief workers from the Lutheran Church.
Until we have sufficient reason to believe that Pro Patria Puritania will not continue such practices and blatant disregard of basic human rights, we cannot normalize the relationship between our two countries.
The relief effort will focus on evacuating our own nationals, but any and all Shanestani requesting asylum will be evacuated as well.

Imperial Strategic Assault Forces 654th Rocket Battalion, Atopian Wastes, Empire of the Wolf
"So here's a fareful to the old crew!" Cried the Rocket-General as he rasied his champagne class in salute. The remainder of the bunker crew echoed the gesture, and downed the drink.
It was a sad moment for 645th Rocket Battalion - their rockets was to be decomissioned tomorrow, and this was the crew's last day on duty. Tomorrow they would hand over to the international weapons inspectors and let them do their jobs.
"Such a shame," sighed the Rocket-General as he drunkenly leant on his 2iC. "All those luverrly SS-27s and nothing to use them on..."
The 2iC was in a similar state, and began to wave his cigar around erratically.
"Why, if this was the old days we'd be launching 'em right now at some hellhole for no reason. By the Wolf, I miss those days!" He then pushed the Rocket-General off his shoulder and sat down, crying.
Bugger this, the Rocket-General thought, I'm not letting some damned peaceniks get their hands on my rockets. He drew himself up tall, straightened his tie and his cap, then barked a series of orders.
"Red Alert! All hands to firing stations! Begin pre-launch sequence and stand by to accept co-ordinates." He began to call up a list of potential targets from his computer (luckily the Pact of Iron had implemented a system of listing 'countries that no-one will really miss' and this practice was still carried on to this day) The crew immediately threw down their drinks and food and hurried to their launch stations. Targets were plotted all across the now dissolved nation of Shanestan, and the Skgorrians planned for their missiles to hit exactly where the Anagonians had not shot their missiles - major urban centres, ports, areas of natural beauty.
Roughly three hours after the first orders were given, twenty SS-27s were launched. As they plummeted towards ground, each one released its 5 MIRVs, each with a warhead of 550KT. The subsequent explosions made the Rocket-General very happy indeed as he watched them on his TV screen, and a tear fell from his eye as the battalion broke into song, linking in arms as they sent the battalion off in style.
We're the Strategic Rocket troops,
We think we're rather cool.
We can blow anything up
From your bunkers to your school.
Some might prefer to use a tank,
Aircraft, ship or gun.
But in terms of sheer hilarity
Our method is most fun.
We're with the mighty 654
Our General is the best.
He lets us blow up anything
Can you say that about the rest?
We're the Strategic Rocket troops,
Our name is rather long.
But if you would like to complain,
Well eat a nuclear bomb!

"Empty nation? Geez, take it!" Came Commander Zhukov's casual reply.
Now, every Marine, Navy, and Aerospace personnel were sent to take as much unnuked land as possible. Some Militiamen joined the invasion.
To help soften up the defenses, the 22 OMDS platforms, each consisting of a half-meter coilgun, each supplied with 300 rounds of DU "spikes". Each were ordered to fire 3 spikes, then aim at the other nation's capital ships, and any rebel capitals. Soon a flurry of metallic projectiles were on their way to hit what used to be Shanestan at Mach 17.
The fleets arrived at the west coast of the nation. They expected small rebel resistance as the ships had stood off until the hailstorm was over.
-Rebel-
Things were turning out badly, which was expected. A nation was coup'd by what seemed like a guerilla band whose idea of a main battle tank was a jeep with a guy holding an RPG on top for the "main gun" and a AK-47 for the "coaxial machine gun".
They were also nuked, and were all out of nukes and missiles which had decent range. "Oh fucking well." said the rebels.
But since the government was no longer there, they were free to use all the organized-military tank stuff they'd left behind, mostly T55's and 34's, maybe a few M54 Super Shermans. Oh well. Even if they got jipped on armor, they still had a stockpile of RPG-7.
Many men were sent to intercept the oncoming Strykers and "Oh, well, anything in front of us that's on something other than legs" as said by a leader known as "Tito", "and if it's on legs, shoot it with a bullet. You all have a 9-millimeter of some sort or another. Human flesh is such a waste of a good rocket."
So they hid in trees, rooftops, on top of boulders. The first convoy of Holy Marsh Strykers were nearing the rocketmen positioned in the south.
A small band of 6 saw them first. Shaun, one of the RPG's, took aim at a prominent, HQ-ish Stryker, and fired.

The onslaught of the Imperial Armed Forces continued, undisturbed by the fact that Northern Rangeria had broken off diplomatic relations. As for the second set of nukes launched into Shanestan, the ones that would have caused a fallout in major cities planned to be claimed by Marshal Hinka's armies, as well as fertile farmland, were taken out by the anti-missile defenses that had been set up across the land already claimed.
Power was restored to the areas controlled by the Imperial Armed forces, and slaves brought from the Empire were rebuilding the severly damaged villages and towns. Captured rebels and loyalists were sent to POW camps, where they would get used to being slaves and eventually sent back to the Empire.
As for the Epsilon Halo forces, a clear message was sent to them.

The New Black Dawn
10-03-2008, 16:25
Six large black cargo ships slipped into the waters of this crumbling nation. The dark cool air around them swirled and whistled around those on the decks causing them to bundle up tighter. Below in the bowels of each ship, a commander gave a speech.
''We were cast from our homes, our underworld and our hell. We were forced to run, forced to suffer, and forced to give up everything we had. We have been oppressed for too long! Tonight we cast of those shackles, take up arms and capture what is rightfully ours! Tonight we fight and tonight we fight and nobody shall stand in our way.''
The man giving the speech pointed to the door and lead his men up through the bowels of the ship and onto the cargo deck. At one point, when the ships had actually been used for cargo, the decks had been full. Now, a few odd boxes sat but for the most part, the deck was empty.
The soldiers were formed up, in ranks, commanders in the front. Performing drill, their boots clattered and echoed into the darkness.
Each soldier wore a pair of dark black combat boots, not always the same kind, a pair of black combat pants, for the most part and some sort of black top, a hooded sweater, tunic or even t shirt, despite the cold air. They each carried some sort of weapon, ranging from a simple bolt action rifle to a heavier machine gun. Most had some sort of melee weapon attached to them, often a club but even swords.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two ships slowly pulled up alongside massive docks. Without hesitation, ''slides'' were thrown from the ship onto the dock. One by one the soldiers slid down, landing on the dock below and forming up into parade positions once again.
The other cargo ships placed themselves in positions broadside the shore. Soldiers appeared on the decks, manning various weapons.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An odd sound issued throughout the town and the sea close by.It was a signal. From the ships issued all sorts of munitions, ranging from simple rockets, small cannons, and machine guns to more complex naval guns. The munitions fell upon the town, like a fiery rain, destroying houses and buildings. Then they stopped.
The men which had formed up began to march, in perfect step, towards the town. Their boots clicked in unison, as to announce their arrival. The soldiers could see the townspeople screaming and running about, some carrying injured. In the distance, the sky was ablaze.
''Parade...Halt.''
The soldiers came to a stop, boots thumping the ground in unison once again.
''Kill and pillage, return on the hour, that is all I ask .''
The soldiers knew the drill, they had performed it several times before. Immediately the ran into the town, entering buildings, killing all they could see, taking care not to waste ammunition. They grabbed anything and everything they could carry and was of value and placed it into pockets and backpacks. They raided banks, taking all of the money and killing everyone on their path. As soon as the hour approached, they ran back towards the ships.
By now, the ships had been properly tethered to the docks. Cranes and ladders had been set up to allow both the soldiers and their goods access to the ships. They climbed back onto the ships and as they did, their counterparts launched another volley at the town.
Slowly the ships slipped out of the dock, allowing two more access. Then the cycle began again, with thousands of soldiers running into the town.

As for the second set of nukes launched into Shanestan, the ones that would have caused a fallout in major cities planned to be claimed by Marshal Hinka's armies, as well as fertile farmland, were taken out by the anti-missile defenses that had been set up across the land already claimed.

OOC: Very well, you get to stop 5 nukes. That'll save 2 major urban centres and surrounding countryside. I can't see that given how long it has been since you deployed, that you'd be able to stop many more than that.
IC:
Ninety-five warheads slammed into ground of Shanestan at more or less the same time. Huge atomic fireballs rose into the sky, claiming the air for themselves as they roared defiantly. To those watching at home, it looked beautiful, to those on the ground, it was death.
The blast wave incinerated anything at the impact point and for kilometres away from it. Vehicles were turned over, building shredded, people were literally vapourised by the heat.
Coming less obviously, but in some ways more deadly, were the tonnes of radioactive dust that had been thrown up into the atmosphere. Large parts of the nation would soon become uninhabitable, including most of the nation's urban centres and ports.

General Somonov was already busy, as an intelligence reporter sent him a message. It said that a random hell hole was in total anarchy and that it had some useful resources. Somonov thought about the normal procedure - nuke the place and send troops to loot and claim everything valuable - but then he learned that the place was already nuked back to stone age. He started to smile and gave an order to parachute invasion troops, ordering a total of 50000 troops to be paradropped and to claim an area where more personnel could be transported. He picked an area nuked and resource rich, and sent the command. In a week troops easily captured an area from the eastern area of the country, and special troops started to build a tactical nuke base.

Somewhere in unbombarded Shanestan...
"Move it, move it!"
"Leave that, there's no room!"
"Hey, Lahte! Give us a hand with this!"
The day would have been beautiful. The clouds on the horizon were mountains of white cotton against the pale blue sky. Somewhere one of spring's first butterflies was spreading her silk-like wings. The brook babbled quietly by itself.
All that, however, was of little consequence to the ABC-protected Jaegers, breathing heavily behind their gas masks as they worked to evacuate a small relief outpost in this remote part of Shanestan. Most of the equipment had to be left behind, but the Jaegers worked swiftly to get the Northern Rangerian personnel and their colleagues to the awaiting VTOL transports.
When it came to the Shanestani, however, the efficiency of the rescue operation was hampering badly. Many tried to bring in their possessions, including chairs, chickens, pigs - many families had piled up their worldly possessions into carts and pushcarts. The translators and the Jaegers had a hard time trying to make the people understand that they could not take all they had with them.
It was then that the radio plug in one of the officers' ear alerted. "Relief force, this is Papa Bear. We have incoming! Atomic weapons! Immediate launch! Now! Now!"
The news travelled quickly, the Jaegers retreating into their VTOLs, taking whatever women and children they could get. The frenzied and hopeful Shanestani, however, still tried to clamper aboard as the VTOLs launched their engines, their doors closing. The roaring and cursing mass of people tried to practically pull the planes down, and when guns were shot in the rolling mass of heads and arms, one of the captains nodded with a heavy heart.
The assault rifles spoke, driving back the crowd, leaving some rolling on the ground, wounded from point-blank shots from 7.62 caliber assault rifles. The doors and hatches were quickly closed, and the VTOLs took off. Roaring engines lifted the transport vessels from the ground and they started their hasty withdrawal, trying to close in the distance between Shanestan and international airspace.
Just then, a screaming missile fell from the skies, detonating in a hellish sea of radioactive fire, instantly vaporizing the site and the roaring crowd gathered on it. The VTOLs had managed to get a good distance away, but still the shock wave hit them heavily, the electromagnetic pulse of the blast screwing up some of the secondary systems.
"Papa Bear, this is Tango Uniform Three Niner Niner! We've lost control! Oh God, she doesn't respond! Oh God! Oh God! Oh G..."
As the dozens of nuclear explosions shook the land, nobody really paid attention to the explosion that a crippled Vertical Take-Off and Landing transport plane loaded with civilians made as she hit the scarred earth.

From Marshal Wolfgang Hinka
To whom it may concern
You're most welcome to make claims in this sad excuse of a nation. I only suggest that you stay out of our way.
Signed,
Marshal Wolfgang Hinka
To: Marshal Hinka
We do not want to interfere with your claims. This nation is pretty much unclaimed territory, and we brought tons of cheap flags with us. We will only fire the Orbital Mass Driver System (OMDS's full name) platforms at your ships if you attack us.
Aiming at nearby foreign capital ships is standard procedure after a KE barrage, and we will be lifting the lock-on within the day, time not specified due to security reasons.
Signed, General Mikhailov Zhukov
-The Ep Halo Troops-
Most of them had been sent back after it was realized that there wasn't a hell of alot of resistance. Only 3 regiments of engineers and armored infantry remained, along with a sizable force of Militamen to help keep things in order.
They had been marching into town after town, following this procedure:
1. Sweep resistance
2. Go to local government building
3. Raise Epsilon Halo flag
4. Speak a few words, give the community a name
5. Drop a homing beacon
6. Request two Militia airborne platoons
7. Leave for next town, let anybody who wants to join the convoy join
Usually a few more pickup trucks followed, loaded with about 5 to 6 people clutching their personal firearms, usually one gun with a scavenged hand grenade, which was a mark of status, and/or Molotov. They had 9mm pistols, shotguns, rifles, more pistols, and sometimes military weapons, mark of status also.
The towns were in rather good shape. Soldiers who visited the Penal Islands were struck with nostalgia. Crude drywall and concrete buildings, cheap florescent lighting, unpaved or poorly paved roads, jeeps, bicycles, flea markets-typical of the ad-hoc communities in the Penal Islands that were still Penal Islands.
Sometimes, however, rebels were entrenched in them, usually the small cities. A small 12-hour fight occurred then, which the troops easily came out victorious, sometimes with several scratches, but none fatal.
The Epsilon Halo claim is 50 miles of eastern Shanestani coast, stretching 20 miles inland, and expanding.

-Rebels-
They were now not feeling like fighting. After two nuclear barrages and a kinetic bombardment from space, their halfhearted hopes of a new government were discarded. Some leaders told them to go peacefully with whatever army gets to them first, others told them to fight still, under the mantra "You still have a gun and some bullets, use them."
The latter were more numerous, but died quickly to the better weaponry of the colonizers. Hunting rifles weren't meant to take on main battle tanks with composite armor plating that takes nuclear bombs to penetrate, armed with a huge gun that you could stick a melon in.

The New Black Dawn
10-03-2008, 20:55
One by one, the ships offloaded their soldiers and they plundered the town, taking all they could. They did this against a backdrop of mushroom clouds far in the distance. Someone was angry. The last soldiers finished their looting and left the town, heads impaled on their bayonets to show their comrades and families back home. The last thing to be raided was the port itself. The soldiers took barrels of oil, goods from the shipping containers, food and weapons. Several different ships were stolen, a few tug boats, and an oil tanker.
The ships headed back out into the ocean expanse, cargo holds full of wares. They wouldn't be the last though, they were only the first in what was to be waves.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A number of small ships, mostly fishing trawlers, once again, all black, passed the cargo ships. They didn't head towards the pillaged town though, they headed towards a larger port city, one of the few left untouched by nuclear munitions. It was rare that The New Black Dawn attacked or even went near a city but this was a prime opportunity.
The port city bordered a nearby naval base which meant an opportunity to steal actual warships, a large step up from the ''battle-cargo ships'' currently in use. Of course, not just anyone could hop on board a military vessel and take it out to sea, so only those with past military experience would carry out this mission.
It was expected that there would be some sort of resistance, possibly even from the rebels so their weapons were more advanced than that of the previous wave.

The ships slipped silently into the port, searching for signs of life.....

President Altair sat in his office, listening to reports coming from Belkaros. Suddenly, one of his advisors, Secretary Williams entered the room. The Secretary dropped satellite photos of the nation's interior, covered by almost one single nuclear cloud.
"Several nations have already taken miltiary action in the nation for several different purposes. this is just the interior, most of the coastal territory and northern regions have gone uncontaminated. The northern is under rebel control however, but the eastern coast has gone uncolonized and is only inhabited by the natives. Mr. President, Shanestan has many untapped reserves of metal and other minerals and they sure as hell aren't using them now. A few divisions of marines and all of that's ours," said the Secretary.
"We could use some more emergency stores since we've dipped in over the last few months. Tell the brass, you can use the 1st and 3rd Marine division. I want full moral conduct and respect shown towards the locals."

The Serpent Guard continued its purges. The 2nd platoon of the 46th Serpent Guard regiment came across a monastery in the countryside, relatively close to a major suburban center that already was under attack by the Praetorian Guard's armoured troops, smoke floating high to the sky from the burning buildings and rebel 'tanks'.
Delighted, the Serpent Guard forced the monks out of the monastery. "In the name of Apophis, I sentence you to death by hanging for worshipping a false god." The monks were, like the vicars in the villages and towns under Serpent Guard control, hanged to the nearest trees or light poles. After taking anything of monetary worth, men armed with flamethrowers set the monastery ablaze.

OOC: Halo, I'm not operating Strykers in the army,. I mentioned them because the LY219 Ironheart IFV is more comfortable, as is the designation Lionheart, but it was a simple error on my part. The only Stryker I dio opeate are those equipped with the LY220. Also, his nation had been using Leo 2s and M1A2 SEPS. The southern area, the one where I'm at, is extremely arid(Hence why it reminds the Church members of their own nation), but I'll see what I can do.
Information was rolling into the church at high speeds. Nuclear devaststion and colonization efforts spread across the north of the Hitlions like fire in a rainless summer. The range was still clear, but for how long was a matter of some concern.
************************
"Move!"
A second RPG hit the Ly220-equipped Stryker. The air defence module had been destroyed and it slowly moved backwards until the second RPG hit. Fire could be seen coming from inside the tank, and a small hatch iopened as the commander treied to escape. He was cut down gasping for air and yelling for help as rabel machinegun post opened up.
"Move!" Sgt. Perosi yelled again, this time pulling Yahlan. The squad had started running towards a building as the LY219 fired smoke grenades and the PAK2 at the machinegun post. The gunners tried to escape, but soon were silenced as the PAK2 shredded the dinwo. The two machine guns then opened up as it advanced down the narrow road towards unknown foes. A second and third Lionheart came from behind and unloaded their cargo as they too fired smoke and their weapons. Another squad ran towards a building oppioste the stree of the one Yahlan was going to, and then another squad split into two fireteams and one went to each squad.
Yahlan ran through the smoke amidst the gunfire until he got to te building. Perosi and the others were there first, and Cpl. Smith had brought out his AA-12 and had prepared to breach the door. Meanwhile, Perosi had ordered three men to go around to the side and blow a hole in the wall.
"Listen, when they blow the wall, Smith will breach this door. Pvt. Yaksies and Pvt. Molis will then throw their flashbangs into the room from here, and Sgt. Craigs weill toss in his flash from the wall. After they go off, we kill everything inside of here." Perosi whispered to his men, who nodded in agreement. Yahlan gripped his AVIR, his heart racing, fear of being killed overriden by his training.
He decided to let the training take over.
There was an explosion from the side of the building, and from inside the building everyone could hear the shouts of the rebels inside as they turned to the hole. Then Smith fired one shell from his shotgun, then kicked the door open and ran off as the flash grenades went in. Everyone turns away and closed their eyes. They hear the grenades go off and go in.
The men from the side and the men in front of him ahd taken care of the disoriented rebels in the room. The first had been in the dead center and had been in the crossfire of two soldiers. A second had hidden behind a table and had protected against the door, but not the hole. he was shot in the head. Two more had been stumbling around and had fired wildly, then were victims to the AA-12.
One last guy stumbled around the row of crates that was near the window on the east sid eof the room. Yahlan had been lucky enough to look that way when he came in and fired a second beforre everyone else did. His bullet caught the man square in the head, blowing his brains out as the bullet then shot through the window behind.
"Clear!" Smith said. This was followed by everyone else saying clear, including Yahlan.
Clearing this town would be easier than they'd thought it would be.

The government forces of Shanestan were being slaughtered yet again the armies of the Holy Marsh. HAT-1s and Apaches had assaulted the small government force. The loyalists were soundly defeated and then tried to flee into the town, but found the rebels were even more hostile despite many of them following the orders of some in the chain of command and, in response to the nukes, giving up. The loyalists gave themselves up, and were transported by the armored company back to the Holy Marsh. Meanwhile, two companies then assaulted the town and took it in less than three hours fighting.

Still, for those that were on, the fact that their shows cut out and were replaced with a breaking news story was hardly, well, breaking news. It happened every few years.
"The Church has announced a plan to militarily annex the unruly province of Shanestan up to the Hitlion mountain range. They have also worked in conjunction with international leaders to nuke the northern part of the country in order to create a radiation buffer zone against the Vile Lard's future aggression. Within days, the 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions had arrived on the coast, setting up there operations in a medium sized coastal town.
Upon arriving, several hundred rebels attempted to stop the numerically superior, well armed and trained Islamajudianitian marines. As anyone can imagine, it was a rebel bloodbath. Within five hours, they were utterly defeated, the few dozen that were captured were quickly executed.
So far, there were little casualties, both marine and civilian. The Shanestani had no real feelings towards the marines, things for them hadn't changed and didn't look like it. They only continued to live their lives as fisherman and merchants without being shot. One thing that did change quickly though was the erection of several mosques, churches and synogogues by the devout Islamajudianitian marines. Conversions from the local tribal faiths to monotheism, mostly Islam, began immediately
Sgt. Tarek with Charlie company of the 5th battalion, strolled through the port town, the streets retaining a salty smell, their ramshackle structures somewhat shooken up by the short, violent battle. He had been on the "frontlines" and took hair from more than two dozen rebels. As he travelled, the battalion commander came up behind him in an STT, "Tarek, take your men back to the depot, you'll be taking some elephants deeper inland.'
Tarek turned to one of the men trailing him, "Where's the depot? We've only been here for a few hours."
"I think it's near the carriers," replied Pvt. Wallace.
"Alright then," Tarek sighed, he began commanding his troops, "Alright marines, we're heading back to the carriers."

There had been little real fighting so far. After clearing a few houses in town, Yahlan had discovered that the rebels had started to flee or give up. Those who fled were cut down.
From what Perosi said, the situation was getting more complicated. Multiple nations were colonizing the north, and more and more nukes and other weapons were being deployed. They hadn't affected the campaign so far, but it was an ominious sign. Now, the two companies that took the town would hold it, as they were now doing with the second and third towns. Follow-up forces would then secure the routes between the towns and head off to the mountain range to secure the route for the supplies going to the main force. Most of the heavy forces on the routes had been destroyed by F-15K Slam Eagles, so the follow-up forces were prepared to meet massed rebel infabtry who had survived.

Prime Minister Altzehy had barely noticed the Shanestan government's implosion due to his complete attention being given to the crisis in Belkaros. However, moments before reports from Urarail's forces fighting off the coast of Belkaros came in, he was updated on the situation in Shanestan.
The Prime Minister seemed rather subdued as Minister of State Jonas Row finished the briefing. Altzehy then rose up out of his chair, walked slowly over to the large window looking out over San Salvacion, and said "No one can do anything for the people anymore. Those that survived the nuclear attacks and fallout are most certainly going to come under the colonizer's rule. However, Urarail can profit from Shanestan. We are currently at war with the Weirmacht Reich, and we need anything we can use. Hamilcar?"
Minister of War Hamilcar Valca, already regarding his friend, snapped to immediate attention. Prime Minister Altzehy continued, "I'm ordering a Covert Insertion into Shanestan's largest surviving military base. Have our commandos search for any weapons or research that could be of use. Once our men are out, tell the Air Force to remove all evidence from the area." Valca bowed slightly in acknowledgment before leaving to give the necessary orders.
Some hours later, a C-130 transport plane entered Shanestan air space and 20 covert-ops soldiers parachuted to the ground. As the men hit the surface in a large field and stowed their gear, their commanding officer turned around to address his men. "Alright soldiers, the mission priority is 700 yards away across this field. After we search the place, we call in Evac and let the flyboys blow this place straight to hell. Let's get moving."
A few moments later, 20 Urarailian commandos entered the abandoned looking facility, most of them praying that another nation didn't decide to "liquidate" some nuclear assets right on top of them.

The marines came across a major Shanestani city. Commanders estimated a good half million used to live here, many killed because they tried to beat the crap out of the rebels/loyalists/both/none of the above. In the end, the rebels with their Kalashnikovs won.
The Marine contingent saw the usefulness of the city, as both a command point for the colony and a good way to extend 5 miles inland, before Holy Marsh comes around.
The infantry dismounted for this battle, as the rebel tactic of RPGs from above were known to them, as they saw a battle with a smashed HM Stryker with a big hole on the top.
The soldiers approached the city, waiting for their chance. A rebel jeep with a RPG rounded a corner, approaching a fortification the marines made. A soldier emptied his M86A (AVIR variant) into it.
36 FRR rounds were fired, 8 entering the rocketeer, 26 entering the jeep. Each bullet's soft outside splintered and fragmented, while the center cobalt spike proceeded to penetrate. The rocketeer had his innards shredded and died instantly. The jeep, the sparks in the engine created by the penetration, exploded, flew 10 feet into the air, and landed as the charred, twisted, detonated remains of a jeep. The Battle for City 8 had begun.
-The Marines-
The marines begun their offensive through the wider roads. They had helicopter cover, as well as a few Navy attack riverboats in the river flowing on three sides of it.
The M3 Bradleys and Mk880 tanks led the offensive, using their guns to level any barricades and the walls surrounding the inner and northern part of the city.
The Marines were attacking the roofs of buildings. By 3 hous into the fight, they had the southern third, and the only overland entry route, in their hands.
-The Rebels-
Things were going badly in the beginning. They were pretty much surrounded. The riverboats had the bridges on the river covered, ad the overland escape was impossible unless they beat back the invaders. They had main battle tanks and knew to get the rooftops first. All they had were old Tokarevs and Shermans, some being from the 1940's as the M4's and T34's. They only had three mortars, one recoilless rifle, and two antitank missile pods. They weren't going to give up.
They deployed their mortar tubes around the gate. The walls of the inner city were 10 meters thick. No tank round could penetrate it. The invaders would be bottlenecked at the main gate, the only gate wide enough for anything else than people. Or so they thought....

OOC: I think you missed my follow-up posts where the town has been taken, but that is fne. We can work this in.:P
Epsilon Halo had launched a shocking attack against the first town that had been taken. Guns and explosions could be heard from the west side of the city.
"Those rebels won't give up." Yahlan chuckled.
"Those are not rebels. They seem to be Halo forces. This doesn't seem right." Perosi said.
A Lionheart command vehicle put on the speakers that had been integrated into it and moved towards the fighting. It was flanked by two more IFVs. It informed the Halo forces that the nation of the Holy Marsh had taken the area. Back in their sector of the town, Holy Marsh forces got their LY219 Mortars to point towards the area where the halo forces were. Both companies prepared themselves for the worse.
*************************
When the Halo forces attacked a Marsh controlled town, the action was immediate. F-15Ks, A-10s, F/A-18Es, F35s, B-1Bs and B-52s were called up, as were B-2s. They soon took to the air with escort provided by F-22s and SU-30MKIs. If everything worked out, then this would just be a waste of gas.
*************************
The follow-up battalions were made aware of Halo aggression and turned towards them, as did 100,000 men of the sixth army. Holy Warrior unit 3rd-11th also turned to face the forces and moved.

In the suburban center close to the burning monastery, the soon-to-be city of Dorastadt, the Praetorian Guard units had finished off most of the rebels, with small pockets of resistance remaining. Gunshots were heard throughout the whole city - not from fighting, but from random executions among POW's.
Several thousand prisoners had been taken and the city's prisons emptied of prisoners. As one who knew anything about the Imperial Armed Forces would expect, POW's and the 'regular' prisoners were sent back to the command post for interrogation (read: torture) and to be sent back to the Empire as slaves.
"We've got hostiles in sector 17." one of the Praetorian Guard patrols reported.
"Reinforcements inbound."
After 10 minutes, several gunships arrived at the location, as well as transport helicopters and a dozen or so soldiers lowered themselves down to the rooftops from each helicopter. The gunships used their rockets and emptied their machineguns and returned to base while the troops on the ground were seen violently beating the surrendered rebels.

Within days, the marines had captured muc of the coast and everything 30 miles inland. The rebels that had fled from other regions arrived in the Islamajudianitian territory only to be met with confident and ready marines.
Most of the battles between the marines and the rebels ended within a few hours, with little casualties. Luckily for the rebels, the Islamajudianitians stopped the execution of prisoners as long as they converted and agreed to work with the marines peacefully, those that didn't give themselves up were slaughtered in the many skirmishes around the new colony.
Sgt. Tarek was heading towards the next town on the Islamajudianitian agenda, not only was it 40 miles inland it was getting close to the territoy claimed by Epsilon Halo. The Elephant slowed to halt outside of the town, the rocket turrets above armed by marines.
"Proceed," commanded Tarek, and the Elephant (http://thearmedrepublicofislamajudianity.pbwiki.com/Al-Asad+Arms+Manufacturing) (ooc: second image, 5th vehicle) began moving again, as it plowed over an abandoned hut, a rocket shot from one of the buildings and hit the side of the transport, doing little damage to the layered, composite-ceramic armor. Immediately two rockets were returned to the building and with that rebels charged from their positions, marines countering shortly after.
Tarek headed towards for the balcony of the Elephant and began with a volley of grenades at the charging rebels, who were being quickly mowed down. However, some with rocket launchers were also in the suicide charge, causing the first of the causalties. After the charge was beat back, Tarek joined the counter attack of marines and cleared out several of the outermost structures, the close-quarters forcing him to use his combat knife at times. It looked like this town wouldn't go down without a fight.

To: Whom it may concern, Imperial Province of Skgorria
Today, Skgorrian armed forces nuclear-bombarded the remnants of the nation once called Shanestan. Your attack came without warning, even though it was made public knowledge that the Northern Rangerian Defence Corps was in the process of evacuating our nationals from the area.
Thus far the casualties listed by this unprovoked attack are as follows:
- 9 VTOL transport crews (36 souls) - 24 confirmed, 12 M.I.A.
- 9 Jaeger platoons of the 2nd Turka Jaeger Regiment (135 souls) - 90 confirmed, 45 M.I.A.
- Approx. 700 refugees, including 300 Northern Rangerian civilians
Besides these fatalities, approximately 200 NRDC personnel have suffered various degrees of radiation burns - many of them in fatal doses.
These men and women were in the area for a mission of mercy, removing our nationals and any willing Shanestani from the warzone. We are therefore asking what does the Imperial Province of Skgorria offer in restitution for the lives lost.
We expect an immediate answer.
Signed,
Prince Mikhail IV, Lord of Northern Rangeria and Her Outlying Regions

The Urarailian C-130 was tracked on Holy Marsh radar. It was asked whether or not it should be shot down. For a second, F-22s were scrambled, but were soon recalled when they saw only one C-130 was there and it was not being aimed at the Holy Marsh main force. It's copurse did, however, take it to the largest base in Shanestan and it was within the area that the Holy Marsh ha dplanned on taking. It was in the west and had not been invaded yet.

Do not be alarmed. We have deployed a small number of our personnel on a salvage mission. We have no intention of occupying a land already contested by many and torched by nuclear warfare. As Prime Minister Altzehy finished his message to the Holy Marsh, he turned to War Minister Valca. "Hamilcar, tell our men to step it up, and order aircraft to began pre-launch procedures. I want our planes in the air as soon as we get conformation of mission completion."
The orders from the War Minister came in to Fort Comberth Air Base shortly later, and the 26 F-22's of Hades Squadron began prepping for launch.
Meanwhile, in Shanestan, the Urarailian commandos had been updated of the situation, and were moving as fast as possible, ransacking offices and searching hard drives. They had managed to find a blueprint for a new assault rifle design Shanestan had been working on, but it was a small trophy at best. The men kept working feverishly, and across the distance, 26 F-22's began taxing onto the tarmac.

The church was pleased with this outcome. No need to stoke the fires of war with a nation they hardly knew, especially as they awaited a response from Halo. The air forces had lowered the speed of their planes, but still, they were coming close to their targets. If they reached their targets and no word had come, they would fire.
The Urarailian commandos had been working at break-neck speeds in order to finish their assignment. They had managed to procure 4 large hard drives of military data, the blue prints to a new assault rifle design, and were searching the command room of the base for more loot. Finally, the long-awaited jackpot was found.
A young man, no older than 20, beamed as he yelled "Here we go!" As he basked in his triumph, he brandished a large blue folder with TOP SECRET: SHANESTAN MISSILE LAUNCH CODES stamped in dark red ink on the front. The commandos then set word back to HQ that the Air Force strike would no longer be necessary. Headquarters acknowledged and informed the men that Evac was en route.
The commander then stepped forward and activated a console labeled Missile Fire Control. The commander activated a single Tomahawk Cruise Missile, and targeted the base. After entering in the appropriate codes, a slight electric ding sound informed the raider-commandos that the base would soon be nothing more than flaming rubble in 17 minutes. The plan was to leave no evidence, and what better way then to use the natives' own weapons to do the job for them. The team bolted out of the base with their trophies in hand.
As they crossed the field they had earlier landed in and into a waiting Blackhawk military helicopter. As they chopper took off bound for Urarail, the soldiers checked the time. 9 minutes until the show started.

The Totalitarian State had been incensed by the needless nuclear attacks on Shanestan... the fools! Didn't they know how to profit from a situation!?
It was only a few hours later that the Red Tidean Government remembered that there was a rather good-sized oil field in Shanestan that had been leased to them. Even worse, it was located on the OPPOSITE side from the radioactive shield that had covered the center of the nation. The oilfield was unreachable now from the coast(thank you, radioactive fallout!) and was located in a desert, on the very edge of the Holy Marshes claims.
As the General-Secretary of the Totalitarian State said: "I will have the head of anyone who lets those religious fools get their hands on that oil!"
It was then he came up with a rather, admittedly childish, idea: if he cannot have the oil, no one can.
Orders were passed down, keys were turned, and three R-95 Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles roared from their silo's. This was the B version of the missile, armed with a single 25 megaton warhead fused for surface detonation.
Unlike most ICBMs, which are sub-orbital, the R-95 utilised the Fractional Orbital Bombardment Sytem, which placed the warhead in a path mimicking that of a sattelite. This gave the missile unlimited range and made it maddeningly hard to target until it de-orbited. The Warhead was encased inside a MARV(MAnueverable Re-Entry Vehicle), which manuevered randomly as it descended to avoid any terminal stage intercepts.
And thus, three 25 megaton warheads were sent on their way, all the way, to Shanestan, the fact that there was a major city numbering 800,000 people at one of the impacting points was written off by the heartless bureucracy of the Totalitaria State of Red Tide.

Somewhere in formerly rural Shanestan...
The air was thick with black dust, the scorched remains of trees still popping and bristling as the last of the flames licked the charred surfaces. Here the immediate effect of the nuclear explosion had left the ground burned, but not immediately radioactive. And here, following a trail of scoured earth and ripped trees, lay the remains of an airplane. The large VTOL engines were still hissing, the dark green surface of the transport plane dented and scorched, small electrical fires making a trail of smoke rise from the crushed remains of the plane's cockpit.
Thud.
A hollow, metallic sound. If there had been any wildlife still standing, they would have probably looked anxiously at the metal carcass, wondering what made such a noise.
Thud!
A little louder this time, one of the bent doors shuddering a little.
"Perkele..."
A definitely human sound, that, even though muffled by metal.
THUD!
The latch finally gave up, and the door flew open. A gloved hand grabbed the doorframe, pulling up from the airplane lying on its side. From the side door - more of a ceiling hatch by direction, now - peered up a head. Olive green composite helmet was scratched, but still intact, as was the black gas mask and the rubber-like hazmat hood the man was wearing. Cursing, he threw his assault rifle on the top side, pulling himself up from the VTOL. He picked up his assault rifle again, scanning the area quickly. He then picked up a small geiger meter on his belt and turned it on. The meter scritched, notifying elevated levels of radiation, but not yet fatal. Still, it would not be healthy to stick around.
"The coast is clear", the Jaeger said, his voice oddly muffled by the gas mask. After him, three other soldiers - all in ABC protection gear - pulled themselves out of the hull.
"Is that all?" the man asked, standing up.
"Yes, sir... The rest didn't make it", came the answer in a stern but unmistakeably female voice from behind one of the masks.
The man dubbed "sir" sighed and shook his head. "Well, Preacher? Want to say a few words?" he then asked, looking at the man just pulling out of the hatch.
"I trust the Good Lord will understand if we refrain from eulogizing until we are out of immediate danger", came the answer, followed by a quick sign of the cross.
"Sir" chuckled behind his mask. "Well said, Preacher. Private Rosenqvist... Sit rap."
The last of the three men nodded. "Well, sir... The EMP knocked out all our radio equipment. We have a compass and a rough map of the area, plus three days of rations."
"Water?"
"Three days worth, sir."
"Eat and drink sparingly, we might have to stay here longer than three days. Everybody popped their iodine before take-off?"
Three nods.
"Good. Now, if our maps are worth the paper they're drawn on, there should be a river about thirty-five clicks south of here. From there, we can try and make our way to the sea, and hope to make contact."
"With HQ, sir?" came Rosenqvist's hopeful voice.
"At this point, private, I'd welcome the sight of a Greater Rangerian pretty boy with a shit-eating grin and a bottle of KY Jelly", "Sir" said, eliciting a chuckle from the survivors. "Stay sharp, people... We are still in enemy territory. And some of the people fighting in here might not take kindly to our presence. Lock and load."
With that, the four survivors of the Alpha Platoon stepped off the carcass of their plane. Sergeant Robert Koivu, private Elias Rosenqvist, private Amanda Kallio and private Karl "Preacher" Sundstrom... Four Jaegers out of a fifteen-strong platoon. Still, they were Jaegers, and they would not just lie down and wait for death.

HMAD Radars saw the nuclear launches, though the missiles soon left their radar. This time, however, they appeared to be heading to Holy Marsh territory.
The projected targets were the largest oil field in the nation, Awerster, and the area in between. A discussion about what to do was finished rather quickly; they had the ability to intercept two of three missiles, but not all three. The oil in Shanestan didn't matter much when one took into account the oil in the Holy Marsh, so that missile was passed, as was the missile landing in between the oil field and the city. The city would be spared direct impact solely because it was a target of the military. LRA-ICBM-02 was activated.

"Sir, LRA-ICBM-02 did hit the targetm but failed to destroy the device."
That voice rang through the general's room. He sighed a little.
"Pass this along to the army; Take Awerster off of the target list. Focus on the first two cities. We may have ABC protection, but I don't want to have to manage a nuked out city."

Tarek had just removed his knife from the throat from a rebel that slid to the ground, as he travelled up the stairs, taking point, another rebel leaped from behind the corner at the top of them and fired once. Tarek ducked immediately and shot twice with his M23 into the man's chest, causing him to lose control and continue firing his AK around as he fell.
Tarek got up and checked himself for wounds, he found two collapsed rounds partially imbedded in his body armor and deemed himself fine. However, when he turned to investigate his men, he found that two were minorly wounded and one, unfortunately, took a round to the throat. It was Pvt. Abrahamson and he had little chance of recovery. The bullet had knicked his jugular and he was losing blood fast.
"Medic!" shouted Tarek as he reached under his body armor and ripped out a piece of his undershirt, trying to supress the bleeding. A medic rushed in quickly, followed by two marines that gave cover fire as she entered.
"Oy!" she shrieked as she approached them. She removed some equipment from her pockets and unloaded it all onto the wound. Through some miracle and after what were the bloodiest minutes they had ever experienced, Abrahamson was looking as good as someone in his position could. "Boys, we need to get him to the Elephant as soon as possible."
"Pvt. Fareed and Simmons, go with them," Tarek commanded before helping them lift him up. He continued up to the roof where a rail connected them to the next series of buildings. Tarek activated his wrist com and ordered a missile volley from the Elephant into some of the hottest buildings. In a few wooshes, several buildings were blown to bits and the marines started their offensive again.

Due to the unprovoked use of Skgorrian nuclear weapons during evacuation, the Northern Rangerian Defence Corps lost contact with several of our evacuation air planes. We know that most of them are probably dead due to radiation, but we are still bound by honour and tradition to retrieve our fallen brothers and rescue any survivors.

A message was also sent to Holy Marsh government:
We have claimed a rebel-controlled city, not Holy Marsh controlled. We seem to have a disagreement about colonization procedures. We do not consider settlements colonized until we see a flag of a recognized nation flying above it. Until you plant your flags, you don't have it.
We also demand you to rescind the F-22's you have en route at us. We see you on radar, so throw away that fictious notion that stealth aircraft can't be seen on radar. We have operated F-22's before, and our F209 can kick its ass. We will empty shells into the birds' asses if we have to.

-The marines-
The rest of the marines slowed down, drawing SAM pods. The former ASAT missiles have picked off satellites moving at 5,000 mph, from 200 kilometers away, there was no reason there couldn't be a squadron of very expensive fighter wrecks picked off from 200 meters.
-The fighters-
They prepared their rocket pods, as missiles would just be too damn ineffective against the damn stealth coating. THey would bury them in a flurry of dumb rocket fire, dodge the missiles, and get close for gun combat, where the F209's more powerful G5 and larger amounts of ammunition (a full minute's worth, due to an increased shell compartment and slower rate of fire) would shoot them down.

In the air, the F-22 and SU-30MKIs prepared for the worst. 54 F-22s and 250 SU-30MKIs were in the force at that time. 350 F-35As were there, as were 54 B-1Bs, 8 B-2s, 118 B-52s. The F-15Ks, which numbered 210, were joined by 300 A-10s and 250 F/A-18Es. Commando Solos

"FIRE!"
Manticores fired multiple volleys at the Marine position that had been enclosed, then they fired more. Multiple artillery batteries were in each armored division, and the sixth army had thirteen armored divisions. Hundreds of Manticores fired volley after volley of missiles. The area where the Marines were lit up like the fires of hell. But the Manticores hadn't finished. They fired more and more, more and more, more and more.
************************
The forces turned towards the Marines moved to attack. 1,000 HAT-1 Sparky's rumbled towards their position. Hundreds of IFVs, hundreds of APCs, and hundreds other assorted vehicles moved in. 100,000+ soldiers, trained for years, equipped with the best, experienced, and single-minded in purpose, moved towards the small position.
*************************
"This is AWACS Kill Joy. The enemy has entered range. Weapons free."
This went out through the air fleet. The F209s had entered range, such joy.
"Enemy safeties are off."
CompassCalls and Commando Solos started messing with their electronics in the air and on the ground.
"Weapons free."
The F-22s fired their BVR missiles, AIM-120 AMRAAM-CXs
"Fox Three."
One F-22 fired one missile each. Rocket fire could be seen from the F209s, but as is the case with most rocket fired weapons, most rockets started arching down. The vast majority would miss, and only the SU-30MKIs were affected.
The AIM-120 AMRAAM-CXs went alone. The F-22s then fired another missile each, making 108 missiles arch towards the targets. The F209s now were weaving in and out, dropping chaff, and otherwise attempting to make the missiles iss. However, the sheer numbers of missiles fired meant that a few would be shot down.
The F-22s fired again, this time joined in with the F-35As and SU-30MKIs. AIM-120s AMRAAM-CXs, AIM-9X Sidewinders, and Vympel R-77s were fired. Hundreds of missiles.
24 targets.
Poor buggers.
*************************
SAM fire had not been much of a factor; the jamming that the CC's were doing meant that the portable SAMs, even when fired, would often trail off quick quickly. Not many SAMs were being fired anyway; Manticore fire and caused much chaos, and the massed tank and IFV rush meant that the Marines on the ground had a far more pressing problem. What added to the problem was the A-10 Thunderbolt IIs, F-15Ks, and F/A-18s who bombed their positions. A few brave men were able to get good shots in against the attacking craft; three F-15Ks and two A-10s had been shot down. But there so many and the Marines were so vastly outnumbered on the ground...

Tarek travelled through the abandoned streets of the town, this was most likely the roughest battle they had encountered yet and damage to the town itself was high. It seemed as though the local population evacuated or where taken somewhere else. As he continued to investigate the industrial district of the town, he happened upon two mines, from what he knew in Shanestani, or what he was supposed to look for, one was for coal, the other was for tungsten. Tarek immediately radioed into command, tungsten was a key component of much of the different ammo types used by the Islamajudianitian military.

The Manticore strikes were in vain, as only 33 Marines were lost. Now the Marines were now chain-gunning their way up the 100,000's back.
The F209's, being stealth fighters themselves (neever can be taaargeteeeed... HA!), slipped past the missiles, chaff and flares still in good supply (never RP my fighters again or I'll dump the remaining OMDS ammo up your ass), and the EMP at full charge. They now slipped under and behind the fighters, as the missiles exploded into the clueless Holy Marsh attackers.
The Death Angles were now behind the force, opened up a hailstorm of 35mm grenade fire at point-blank range on the cloud of aircraft, mainly the stealth fighters. Rockets were fired, quickly reaching Mach 12.
200 more F209's were on the way, along with A8 Harriers equipped with Fighter's Nightmare pods, essentially a capsule loaded with what fighters hate most: flak, chaingun shells, missiles.
A message was also sent:

Suddenly, the mirage that had been put up to fool the simple-minded Halo fighters evaporated, revealing only one plane- the SUPER X AIR DESTROYER. It fired lasers that incinerated the F209s.
Meanwhile, the SUPER SAT LASER fires at the force of 6,155,000 and kille dthem all.
The ground force kills all the Marines as the 100,000 soldiers can never be harmed by chaingun bullets due to the ANTI-CHAINGUNSUPERARMOR.

Seriously, if you wanna RP this seriously, then let us do that, but at least try to act like it was a real military. Even the F-22 can be targetted by missiles, and at no point did you give any info about your F209 that would lead to any other conclusion. This is MT, not PMT. How would you get that many soldiers here that quickly(six hours) when your own factbook says you can bring a much smaller force than what you did to an area in 18 hours?
Lt. Hamilton's comm beeped to life. The Urarailian pilot was somewhere over rural central Shanestan with 25 other Imperial F-22's. The comm cackled to life, addressing the squadron,
"Hades Squadron, this is AWACS Shindig, be advised that a state of war now exists between Episilon Halo and Holy Marsh. This is fresh off the wire from Headquarters. You are NOT to engage either side or approach either side's military assets. Continue search and rescue operations, but keep an eye out."
Hamilton checked his radar; clear for the moment. He banked his F-22 lazily to the left as the squadron prepared to sweep another area for the downed VTOL craft. He really hoped they found them soon.

Major Lithanovits made a connection to Burlovia´s Defence HQ through a secret encrypted military communication satellite.
"We are experiencing some hell down here! Nukes falling, vast amounts of rebels and every single tinpot nation in the radius of 10000 kilometers have sent half their army here! There is no way we could survive their assaults. We either need more reinforcements or we have to withdraw."
General Somonov considered the situation. The resources were useful, but the population was weakened and poor due to nuclear bombardment, making looting less profitable than planned. The tactical nukes were already in place, and it would be a pity to abandon them.
"Start the evacuation. Send the last recource shipments at 1800 hours and make sure you make those nukes of good use by then."
Lithanovits got the tip and confirmed.
"As you wish, sir. For Burlovia! To punish and enslave!", and then Somonov disconnected.
"To punish and enslave, oh yes..."
At six o´clock that evening last resource shipments, mostly filled by oil and precious metals, left the base. Major Lithanovits gave the pre-launch orders to 5 TIC-TAC nuclear missiles.
"Let´s go BBQ!", he yelled, "burn those snake worshippers! And remember to use enough sauce!"
At 18:23 five tactical nuclear missiles were launched, all heading to Pro Patria Puritania´s military bases and uranium mines.

The small ships pulled up alongside the port. Of course, the port was not meant to accommodate such small ships so they couldn't tie off right away. Instead, ladders and grappling hooks were thrown to the platform above. Several men climbed up, carrying ropes and tied the ships off. Then the rest of the men, save a couple left behind to guard the ships made their way up onto the platform. From the platform they could see of into the distance, above the houses and buildings, massive explosions. They were smarter than their comrades from before, they knew very well what the explosions were from and how risky this mission was.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The soldiers advanced, keeping an eye out for signs of life. The men on point was lucky enough to have a pair of night vision goggles, which made it easier to see an enemy should they be there.
They only had to cover a small amount of ground, but walking around what used to be a military port was dangerous business. They didn't know what kinds of ships would be in port, but it was up to them to steal whatever they possibly could. In the event they actually came under attack, with their skeleton crew, it would be near impossible to defend themselves.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They spotted their targets, several cruisers, destroyers, frigates a super carrier and a helicopter assault ships, gleaming like jewels in the flood lights of the port.
BRAPPP!....BRAPP!
The retort of gunfire, in burst mode could be heard, bullets passing close by the point man's helmeted head.
Quickly the soldiers moved to find cover. AK fire could now be heard, automatic sprays of gunfire dancing across the pavement nearby the soldiers positions. In accurate and in effective, the soldiers now knew where the enemy was.
They stood at the top of a rather tall guard tower, fenced in and surrounded by barb wire. Essentially this meant the soldiers couldn't get close.
Suddenly and RPG streaked by a soldier's position, smashing into a wall behind him and sending bits of his metal into his back. He fell, dropping an AK-74 in front of him. A soldier beside him responded, turning his own RPG towards the enemy position and firing. His comrades covered him, spraying the tower with gunfire, suppressing the enemy. The RPG streaked through the sky, smashed into the side of the tower and exploded, blasting apart the wooden frame and thin aluminum plates. The tower rocked violently, and a enemy fell, head bursting on the pavement below.
The RPG soldier rushed over to his fallen comrade, slinging his comrade's rifle onto his back. Quickly he went through his pockets, placing his magazines into his own pockets.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the enemy defeated, the soldiers could now focus on their task, stealing the enemy ships. They climbed aboard quickly, deciding on a cruiser and a frigate.
In just under an hour, the frigate and cruiser were on their way out into the high seas.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two ships passed by two large cargo ships, like the ships from the first mission. They too headed towards the naval port and base, looking to steal some oil and some weapons.

We thank you for your assistance. With the help of maps provided to us from Holy Marsh, we believe we can complete this operation soon. We are sending you the coordinates of our crashed vessels. Each VTOL carried a four-man crew and a complement of fifteen Northern Rangerian Jaegers. The number of civilians on each plane we can only estimate.
***
The operation was quickly underway; Northern Rangerian and Urarailian planes flying over the radiated landscape. Nine planes in total had been lost, six of them were presumed to have been permanently destroyed. Still, hope lived on.
The Skgorrian nuclear attack had come suddenly, and the planes had had little response time before the storm of nuclear fire had engulfed an area consisting of thousands of square miles. It had been a wonder that the casualties had been so low... Still, it offered Northern Rangerians little comfort when VTOL search planes landed near the first crash site. Hazmat-suited rescue workers saw that there was nothing to be done here: the transport plane had been in mid-air when the shock wave and the EMP pulse of the nuclear explosion had sent it spiraling down to her doom. The plane had literally dived to the ground and destroyed. Still, the rescue workers notified the HQ of the find, and began their gruesome work: military dog-tags, engagement rings, diabetic bracelets... anything that could be used for identification was collected, and the site was marked for later retrieval of corpses - or what remained of the burnt victims.
It was the Hades Squadron, however, who first found survivors...
Lt. Hamilton slowed his craft and dropped to roughly a few hundred feet, searching yet another charred landscape for Rangerian survivors. Hades Squadron had fanned out over a 150 mile area, but so far, no contact had been made.
However, Lt. Hamilton thought he spied wreckage that matched the description provided by Headquarters. A few moments later, and he spied four figures near the wreckage. Hamilton snapped his comm on and immediately alerted the squadron, "This is Hades 9, I have four possible survivors in Grid 2-4. Relaying coordinates to AWACS Shindig now." Hamilton then accelerated and brought the craft around for another slow, low-altitude pass. He was sure of it now, four figures, and the situation indicated they were the missing survivors. About 45 miles away, AWACS Shindig had alerted the nearby Rangerian Search and Rescue Units to the position of the survivors. Across Hades Squadron, a collective sigh of relief could be felt. Four wasn't all the missing survivors, but four was better than none.
Lt. Hamilton was just a little past the four figures below when his radar screen lit up, screaming multiple beeps and warnings at the Urarailian pilot. Radar indicated four unidentified aircraft approaching fast from the south. Lt. Hamilton immediately alerted the squadron, which broke off the search pattern and began to converge on Hades 9's location. Hamilton then broadcasted on an open frequency to the four aircraft, "This is Lieutenant Hamilton of the 9th Imperial Air Superiority Squadron of Urarail. Identify yourself. We are engaged in Search and Rescue operations and are non-combatants." Hamilton's broadcast received the exact reply he had feared, the four unknown craft were arming weapons and locking on; the shrill alarms in his cockpit alerted him to this.
Hamilton immediately requested backup and flipped the master safety off. He locked on to the first aircraft and fired. "This is Hades 9, fox 2." A few seconds later and one of the attackers became a frighteningly beautiful orange blossom in the sky of flame and wreckage. Hamilton then began weaving in and out of combat, barely dodging enemy fire and attempting to return it when he could. Hamilton had managed to down 2 more of the attackers when AWACS Shindig alerted Hamilton that backup was 35 miles out. However, the last of the enemy craft managed to score gun hits across his craft's left wing and body. Immediately alarms began to sound as the left turbine spurted and began to catch fire. Hamilton struggled to retain control of his F-22, but he knew it was futile. He yelled into the comm, "This is Hades 9, mayday mayday. This is Hades 9 mayday." With that, Hamilton hit the EJECT button and was slung into the blue sky over rural Shanestan. As he drifted towards earth, the last enemy plane circled to confirm the kill before screaming off. Hamilton then touched down in a farm field hard, knocking the wind out of him.
Alpha Platoon had seen this. Sergeant Robert Koivu, Private Elias Rosenqvist, Private Amanda Kallio and Private Karl Sundstrom were roughly 200 yards away from the downed F-22 pilot, and could easily get to him. The three privates looked at Sergeant Koivu for orders.
Northern Rangeria
11-03-2008, 18:32
The Northern Rangerian Jaegers had seen the low-altitude dog fight from front row seats - including the parachuting pilot from the fighter that had made passes over them.
Koivu breathed deeply inside his gas mask and nodded. "Let's go. Keep your guns ready, we might have not been the only ones who saw that. Move it!"
At the yell, the four surviving members of the Alpha Platoon began to double-time it past the burnt grass and into the field where they saw the pilot.
"Good God", Pvt. Kallio gasped behind her mask. "He's not wearing a hazmat suit!"
Sgt. Koivu lifted his geiger meter from his belt and cursed. Elevated levels of radiation. They were relatively safe inside their suits, but the pilot could be in serious danger if his exposure continued.
"Preacher, Rosenqvist... Take up firing positions", he said gruffly. "Kallio, you're with me."
With that, the two Jaegers began to walk towards the pilot, the assault rifles at ready position. Who could blame them? The reports of war from Shanestan talked of complete breakdown, some nations even regressing into marauding bandits. Not to mention the rebels who might've survived the nuclear bombardment. The Jaegers were dressed in loose, dark green hazmat suits, their utility and ammo belts flung on top of them. Composite helmets on their heads, faces covered with gas masks that made their breathing sound wheezing.
Koivu stopped approximately ten yards away from the pilot. "Name and rank, soldier", he called out in English. He silently switched the safety of his rifle to burst... just in case.

Major Lithanovits viewed the strategic screen. He saw the five nukes flying smoothely towards their targets.
"Our work here is done. Those snakelovers are going to get a rude awakening."
Then he ordered the rest of military personnel to get on board of transport planes. They were ready to leave, until red lights started to blink with an alarm sound loud.
"Sir we´ve been targeted!"
Then two bazooka missiles hit two of the transport planes, one of where major Lithanovits was. In an instant, 50 men deceased. Some men jumped out side firing their assault rifles towards the sources of missiles. In a short time they had killed the attackers, which turned out to be guerillas. When Burlovian HQ learned out about this, General Somonov was enraged.
"We won´t leave the place before we have punished its people for this outrage!", he yelled.
Soon he sent an order to mobilize 700.000 men.
Hamilton staggered upright as he saw four masked figures approach some with their weapons drawn. Not that he could blame them.
Answering his questioner in clear, crisp English, Hamilton stated, "Lieutenant Alvin Hamilton, 9th Air Superiority Squadron, Imperial Air Force, Holy Empire of Urarail. If it means anything to you, I was here on a Search and Rescue mission." Hamilton was still fairly certain that this men were the Rangerian Jaegers his squadron was looking for, but it was also quite possible these were Shanestanian rebels who had merely salvaged some Rangerian gear. If that was the case, then things could get worse. It was also about that time that Hamilton realized he could be in serious trouble from the environment, as his vision had stopped swimming enough to realize his companions were wearing hazmats. He growled to himself. Some fine sortie this had turned out to be. Hamilton wasn't a physicist, but he knew that if he didn't get some radiation protection soon, a bullet to the head from a Shanestanian rebel would soon be a delightful thought.
About 15 miles away and 10,000 feet up, 25 midnight black Urarailian F-22's were closing at Mach 1 on Hades 9's last position before the mayday call had gone out. As they approached the area, their radar began to act up, doubtless a consequence of the lingering radiation in the area. The quiet static over the comm broke as Captain Shetland addressed his squadron, "This is Hades 1, all units converge on Hades 9's last known location and begin search. Keep a sharp eye out for hostiles." Unfortunately, none of them had any idea who the hostile craft belonged to, nor their numbers. Shetland just hoped that his squadron didn't find out too soon.

The man who had spoken, lowered his gun. The shorter soldier - her gender hidden behind the rubber surface of the gas mask - followed suit.
"Sergeant Robert Koivu, Northern Rangerian 2nd Turka Jaegers", the man spoke again, lifting his hand and signalling the two jaegers who had taken firing positions. "And it seems we're in this pickle together. Did you manage to contact your troops? Are they coming to look for you?"
As he spoke, Koivu placed a green-gloved hand into one of his utility belt pockets, pulling out a set of foil paper. Hamilton could surely see there was something packed in the foil in protective gas. "Iodine tablets. It will help, for now", Koivu continued.
Up above the rust-coloured dust clouds, another message was being transmitted. "Hades One, this is search-and-rescue plane Mike Mike Papa Two Niner, Northern Rangerian Defence Corps", the radio chattered. "We have received message of possible survivors. ETA twenty minutes."

To High General Somonov, Burlovian Armed Forces in Shanestan War Zone
While we applaud your willingness in wanting to end the turmoil in the SWZ, it is our analysis that such measures are, as the saying goes, "too little too late". Satellite topography shows that approximately 80% of Shanestan has become heavily radiated due to the excessive use of nuclear weaponry. Most of the urban centres are gone, an estimated 90% of arable land has either been destroyed or in serious risk of contamination from fall-out.
We were in the process of evacuating our nationals and any willing Shanestani in the area when the Skgorrians launched a wide-scale nuclear bombardment. They do not admit this, and their answer to our demands for explanation were rebuked in a manner more befitting for five-year-olds.
General, I will be honest with you. There is nothing worth defending in Shanestan. I doubt even the oil reserves are worth anything, once the fallout contaminates the oil fields. We are currently conducting a search-and-rescue mission for any possible survivors from VTOL transport planes that were lost during the Skgorrian bombardment. But as the ports are controlled by Pro Patria Puritania, we see little hope in evacuating any more of the Shanestani population. We are not part in any coalition, and even though we mourn the fate of Shanestani currently in the hands of Puritanians, there is little we can do to aid them.

The nukes appaered on the live sattelite feed. The ones that were heading for the uranium mines and close to urban centers were targeted by the anti-missile defense network that had been set up in the areas controlled by the Imperial Armed Forces. A few military bases would be caught in the blast wave of the remaining nukes, but soldiers and equipment could always be replaced.
The targeted nukes were taken out successfully. Information about the attack was forwarded to the Emperor who, understandably, was enraged.
"Hinka. Do something about those Burlovians."
"Hm. I suppose we have to. They can say hello to our chemical weapons at first."
Having lost 100,000 men, give or take 20,000, 600,000 more were called to duty and sent to Shanestan. Meanwhile Marshal Blom, having received orders from Hinka launched 4,000 missiles containing sarin, VX and cyclosarin to greet the arriving Burlovian forces.

OOC: Halo hasn't responded and due to Shanestan's requests for realistic action and for me to calm down, I will disregard any military action between Halo and I previous to this post as it seems to have tailed off into a bitch-fest. So, this post will start at the last realistic place where he and I left off that made any sense; he attacking a Marsh-controlled town, or at least the half that the surviving rebels were hiding in. If Halo wishes to RP a war with me, then he has to know that this is MT, not PMT, and I need to know not to get angered easily.
Halo had taken half of the town and has pushed the surviving rebels into the teeth of Yahlan's position. They were cut down en masse until they threw their hands into the air. Shockingly, Halo had not launched an attack on the Marsh-controlled side of town. Either way, the road to the second and third towns for supply of the main force had been kept safe. The follow-up battalions were due to arrive in less then ten minutes.

In Corsian, 150,000 men of the sixth army crashed against the few loyalists and the rebels there. HAT-1s destroyed Leopard 2s commanded by loyalists and M1A2 SEPs being used by the rebels. Soldiers cleared buildings quickly and without mercy, sometimes resorting to hand-to-hand combat, where the many years of training and experience showed their merit. By midnight, most of the city of 5.8 million had fallen.
*****************
Bisho Lien fell far quicker despite being made up of 7.1 million citizens. From Bisho Lien you could see the nuclear strike on Awerster. The rebels and loyalists there had fallen to despair at the sight, and when the armies of the Holy Marh rolled in, the vast majority had already given up arms. Only a few fought, and those few were quickly dealt with by the 100,000 who entered the city.
*****************
Smaller towns in between Bisho Lien and Corsian were occupied soon after. The locals had learned to fear the might of the Marsh armies in the previous year, and they were battered by the revolution and nuclear strikes. At this point, they saw their former enemies as saviors.
*****************
The situation had calmed down. Most of Shanstan was a nuclear wasteland, but Holy Marsh's Anti-ICBM defenses had finally been brought up to speed so as to ensure their fifty mile gains were kept safe. The only problems now was the HALO incursion, which no one in Marsh command understood. If they retreated back to their original enclave, they'd be outiside of Marsh claims. Oh well; it would resolve itself.

"Gopod job, Basket Two. RTB."

It was full of static.
They worked on it some more, and got this:

As military engineers continued in their attempt to restart the tungsten mine, Sgt. Tarek sat back witnessing the brutality of the other nations as mushroom clouds appeared on the horizon.
"Sir, we just got orders to move another 10 miles inland along this small mountain chain, we're looking for any other tungsten mines that may be around," said a Pvt.
"You serious? We go any deeper into this terrain we won't be able to use the Elephant," replied the Sgt. as he stood up.
"Sorry for the extra bad news but we won't be using any other vehicles except for the Rhinos (http://thearmedrepublicofislamajudianity.pbwiki.com/Al-Asad+Arms+Manufacturing) (ooc: 2nd picture, 2nd vehicle) they're bringing in."
"Could this be any worse," Tarek said as he looked at the Pvt. knowing that there was more.
"About that...they're dropping in a company of Ergeben to give us a hand. Pff, the only thing those jerks will be doing is showing off."
Tarek put his helmet back on and wrapped his koufia around his head shortly afterwards, preparing for the conditions ahead.
Hamilton thanked the Rangerian sergeant and gulped the iodine tablets down. It wouldn't make him invincible, but it might keep him alive and healthy long enough. He turned to the Rangerian jaegers. "Yes, I was able to contact my squadrons' AWACS unit, which was under orders to relay all information to your government's Search and Rescue squads. By now, I'ld say Evac is already en route. I was also able to get off a mayday call, so my squadron should be en route as well. Thanks for the iodine by the way."
As Hamilton moved to shake the sergeant's gloved hand, a strong, booming sound, like distant thunder, could be heard. On the horizon, 25 black aircraft came into view. Hamilton smirked and motioned for Alpha Platoon to watch as Hades Squadron roared in from the northwest. As the 25 F-22's of Hades Squadron approached Alpha Platoon's position and confirmed visual of the 4 survivors and Lieutenant Hamilton, another, quite similar sound was heard approaching from the south.
Captain Shetland looked down at his radar as 49 unknown signatures appeared on radar, 3 miles out. He cursed the fallout for blinding their radar so badly. His squadron was outnumbered almost 2-to-1, and the unknown signatures were on intercept course, and were arming weapons and preparing to lock on. The AWACS unit chimed in. "This is Shindig to Hades Squadron. All units, you are cleared to engage." With that, the pilots of Hades Squadron deactivated the master safety, accelerated to combat speed and formed up into combat formation. Shetland snapped his comm on. "This is Hades 1 to Rangerian Search and Rescue Unit, be advised that the LZ is hot. Repeat, unknown hostiles approaching LZ. My squadron is moving to engage and provide cover. Get our guys out of there. Hades Squadron, confirmed sighting of 49 bandits. All units are green to engage. Talley-ho."
With that, Hades Squadron thundered towards the enemy air group, and both sides closed and unleashed a volley of missiles.

We sympathize with your position and with the unfortunate accident which took place. We also apologize for the unfortunate loss of life of your 3 pilots. The Holy Empire of Urarail accepts your apology and offers its own in return. Additionally, we would like to replace your downed F/A-18's and offer compensation to the families of the fallen pilots. We hope to continue our cordial relations with your nation in the future,

Captain Shetland looked at the radar, which was clearing up a bit. It provided the data on the incoming air group. 49 F-15 Eagles, bearing the markings of the Shanestani Air Force. Well this was going to be fun.
The missiles collided between the two squadrons. 10 Shanestani F-15's met their end, and 3 Imperial F-22's joined them in death. Both squadrons then began the crazy waltz of death and fire that is a dogfight. As Shetland barrel rolled around gunfire and snapped up behind a hostile F-15, he at least had some comfort in knowing it wasn't Holy Marsh or PPP that was sending the attacks.

No need to replace the craft or compensate the families; each and every member of the Marsh military is part of alarger and vastly more important family. Even if they were wrong, they fought and died believing they engaged the greatest foe of our nation.
*********************
The Shanestanian Air Force had been shattered in the Eversi War, had suffered budget cuts, and was all but wiped off of the face of the earth in the ensuing war and nuclear chaos. They operated mostlyu F-15Cs now, thanks to Marsh-mandated destruction of advanced warmaking gear.
The dogfight continued between the Urarailian F-22's and what was assumed to be the Shanestani F-15's. The newer and more advanced F-22's quickly assumed the advantage despite their lack of numbers, using their superior speed and firepower to whittle down the enemy's numbers. After Hades Squadron downed another 24 F-15's, the remaining 15 Shanestani craft broke off and retreated south. Captain Shetland then barked into the comm, "Sit rep!" "Sir, Hades 5, 19, and 20 are downed. No parachutes sir." Shetland cursed silently, but was happy to have most of his squadron alive and flying. He then gave his orders, "Hades Squadron, assume patrol pattern over the LZ area until Rangerian evac arrives." He then contacted AWACS Shindig and requested that Headquarters, or somebody, figure out why 49 Shanestani governmental aircraft suddenly decided to "fight for their country." This was certainly one fine sortie indeed.

Sgt. Koivu cursed inside his gas mask as he watched the dog fight in the clouds.
"Well, this turned out to be one helluva fine day", he muttered as he lead Kallio and Lt. Hamilton out from the open. The land was scorched and dry, the few trees and shrubs still standing scorched and bent, turned into shapes that looked like writhing skeletal fingers begging mercy from the uncaring sky. "Those your boys up there?" he asked, turning to look at Hamilton.

"Hades One, this is Mike Mike Papa Two Niner, we are approaching target area", the radio of the Urarailian lead plane crackled. "And we brought friends."
Just then the Urarailian radars picked up new contacts. Twenty in total, approaching fast. "Hades One, this is Peregrine Squadron", a new voice crackled in, just as the twenty new contacts joined the dog fight. F/A-18 Hornets, bearing the blue- and-white flag of Northern Rangeria on their wings. They were older planes for sure, but it was clear that these escort planes were not to leave the Urarailians hanging. "Thought we might drop in."

"Sergeant, look!" Rosenqvist hollered, pointing to the sky. A new set of planes had appeared and joined the dog fight. Behind his gas mask, Koivu grinned ear to ear.
"Hornets... Goddamn flyboys, it's good to see them", the sergeant chuckled, just as another plane appeared, a much bulkier figure flying lower...

Location: The North, unknown, miles away from rescue.
Captain Mikhail Aslow, Basket One.
Aslow came too. he had been shot down and had parachuted out, but a gust of wind had throw him hard to the right and he eventually slammed into the side of a small house that had been abandoned. His right side was in terrible pain, bones broken and he could only guess he was bleeding internally. he turned on his IFF indicator and fell asleep.
**********************
The IFF signature could barely be read by AWACS Eyesore, but still, it could be read. Eyesore couldn't pinpoint the exact location, only a radius. Eyesore radioed back to headquarters, who quickly approved a combat search annd rescue mission.

Back at Corsian, the closest city to the IFF, members of the 3rd-11th Holy Warriors STT-4 were called to the airport. They were briefed on the mission and boarded three Nighthawks and set off to rescue Captain Aslow.

An IFF indicator that we believe is a downed Marsh pilot has been seen coming 250 miles north of the city of Corsian. A rescue mission has been authorized. Any help in this matter will be rewarded with much thanks and possible monetary compensation.
Lt. Hamilton nodded. "Yep, that's Hades Squadron. And looks like they brought friends."
---------------------------------------------------------
Captain Shetland replied to the Rangerian S&R squad. "Mike Mike Papa Two Niner, this is Hades One. Thanks for the help. We were able to confirm that bandits were Shanestani governmental F-15's. Don't know what exactly is going on here, but we have been instructed to provide cover for your squad until mission is complete. The 9th Imperial Air Superiority Squadron is at your service. Also, requesting any available information on the possibility of a downed Urarailian pilot present with your Jaegers."
As the Rangerian and Urarailian fighters finished mopping up the last of the straggler F-15's, the Urarailian F-22's assumed a defensive pattern around the Rangerian transports.

Another explosion rocked the building. Machine gun fire responded. Several wounded men were being treated in a corner of the apartment room, one of the hotels of the resistance.
All of a sudden, a voice called from the other room.
"We're relocating! Now! To the basement!"
The men in the hotel simply stopped whatever they were doing and picked up whatever equipment was in the hotel and proceeded down several flights of stairs to the basement.
"You four, lead the way."
Four rebels, armed with SKS Carbines and lanterns, proceeded down one of several tunnels in the basement of the apartment complex. A few minutes into the jounery, a thounderous crash was heard and felt by the people in the tunnel.
One of the officers smiled. "That's the apartment."
They continued down the tunnel for a few more minutes, until they came across a four way intersection.
"Make a right." , one of the older gentlemen said.
They ended up in what seemed to be a giant basement full of equipment. As they proceeded up the building, they noticed it was the Harmony Hotel, a famous hotel before the anarchy and war overtook the country.
One of the officers smiled when over a hundred rebel troops proceeded from one side of the lobby to the other. The commanding officers both saluted each other and a wave of greetings followed.
"Here is where we fight until they relocate us again! We must make sure our enemy doesn't gain entry into the downtown area." The hotel, first built as a military building, commanded the entrance to downtown. While light infantry could squeeze through side streets and alleys, tanks and other vehicles had to use the highway, which ran directly passed the hotel, to gain entry to downtown. A dozen M1A2 main battle tanks were dug in and camouflaged with debris along the highway. Mines and barbed wire had also been placed on the highway. Elsewhere, rebel movements were made to check the movements of enemy troops and to assure they could not gain ground.

One of the Pvts. turned to Tarek, "How do we know we're not in someone else's colony?"
"You're asking the wrong guy, it's a land grab boy, first person with troops covering every inch has the claim, unless someone with more troops wants it too," Tarek said, spying out of the window, nothing but scrubby mountains.

From the sky descended a large transport plane, a VTOL. It's landing- and take-off jets were roaring, blasting up scorched soil and creating a small dust storm of its own as it set down on the field. The back hatch of the dark green vessel opened, and a single jeep came out, heading somewhere in the bushes. But to Lt. Hamilton and the survivors of the Alpha Platoon, this was a small concern.
"Come on then, Hamilton! That's our ride!" Sgt. Koivu yelled over the roar of the engines, nudging Lt. Hamilton on the back as three hazmat-suited Jaegers appeared from the hatch, motioning them to haul ass.
Meanwhile, the jeep was closing in on the signal that was barely half a click away. They had received word of the IFF signal, and having noticed it was coming from the general area, they decided to investigate. The jeep pulled to a stop when they saw the discarded parachute, a single hazmat-suited medic running to the wounded pilot.
"Easy there, fellow", he said behind his gas mask as he quickly checked the pilot's wounds. He then hollered back to his companions in the car, and a stretcher was brought in to take the Holy Marshian pilot away.

The flanking squadron showed themselves, and trained their weapons. second squad held their ground and kept their aim. Seeing that they were vastly outgunned, the unknowns gave in and held their weapons above their head. Caden and his squad moved forward cautiously with weapons trained.

"Sgt. Paulson, Norther Rangerian Armed Forces. This here is my squad. We're just trying to get to a safe area and we found this man." Sgt. Paulson said.
"Indeed. We apologize for our actions, soldier of a brother nation." Caden said as the two other squads came to his position.
"Do you have a means to evacuate from this condemned area? Helicopters shall pick us up in three hours. I am sure they could take a few more." Caden asked.
"We actually have a VTOL over half a click away. Do you wish to evacuate with us?" Paulson said.

ic: The Rhinos slowed momentarily as the convoy was fired upon, they then began moving again not wanting to lose ground. As RPGs and mortar fire struck the heavily armored vehicles, the marines knew they had to react fast before more damage was inflicted.
Already two of the marines operating the several minigun turrets had been taken out of commission but the ones still operating provided more than enough suppressive fire, the loud, incessant humming of the weapons drowned out those of the Shanestani. Entire sections of brush were reduced to mulch within seconds.
The Rhinos still moved slowly in the narrow passage taking heavy fire. Inside the cargo bay of the VTOL, Sgt. Koivu, privates Sundstrom, Rosenqvist and Kallio, and Lt. Hamilton were greeted by hazmat-geared Jaegers. Fifteen of them total, all bearing assault rifles and dressed in similar green protective suits. Greetings in Rangerian were given behind gasmasks, salutes were made, the survivors welcomed back home. They were lead forward into a makeshift decontamination area, where a team of medics was awaiting for them. A curtain was drawn to separate the two areas.
"Strip down. Everything that you have on you, also jewelry and dogtags", came the order behind the gasmask. Without even flinching, the four Jaegers began to disrobe, gasmasks and suits piled up onto a canvas, gear and clothing piled onto another. It was only now that Lt. Hamilton noticed that one of the Jaegers was a young woman with light-brown hair. What was more surprising, she was undressing as quickly as the men, clearly used to such situations.
In the cargo bay, the Holy Marshians were greeted with suspicious glares, the Jaegers suddenly falling silent. Sgt. Paulson turned to look at the group of men while the wounded pilot was carried inside.
"We will begin decontamination already while in transit. I trust your men will have nothing against that?"

They all shared one trait; the life-mark of a member of the Holy Warriors, a tattoo on the left breast, that could never be undone: "For our lives are given to His grace."
The decontamination finished and the Holy Warriors reclothed and armed themselves. Caden took his copy of the Marsh Text and walked over to the wounded pilot and started reading passages.
They waited to get into contact with the military to inform them that pick-up was not needed.

Once the back hatch had been closed, the Northern Rangerian Jaegers removed their gasmasks and hazmat hoods, allowing themselves to relax a little. Still, they kept a watchful eye on the foreign soldiers in their plane: the Pro Patria Puritanians had committed atrocities in Shanestan; the Skgorrians had released a rain of nuclear hell-fire upon the land. No wonder, then, that the young men - and women, as four of the Jaegers were women with short-cropped hair - of the 2nd Turka Jaeger Regiment held onto their assault rifles and combat knives.
The hazmat suits would take longer to decontaminate, and the medics had run a geiger counter over the equipment and clothing, piling up the contaminated items for later disposal. The pilot was being taken care of by a team of medics. His condition was stable, but it would be months before he would be fully recovered. His jumpsuit - as well as that of Lt. Hamilton - had been too badly contaminated to warrant decontamination, but they were given spare clothing, the greens of the Jaegers.
Outside, the engines of the VTOL transport plane roared, lifting its bulk off the contaminated soil and rising into the air. It would still be a long flight into the international waters, where the carrier and a detachment of the Northern Rangerian Navy was waiting.
"Hades One, this is Peregrine One. We will escort Mike Papa back to HQ. We might encounter Pro Patria Puritanian aircraft, so it may be best we part ways here", the radio chattered in the air, the Hornets taking up positions aroung the VTOL.
"Peregrine One, this is Hades One. Roger that. We are breaking off escort and returning to Urarailian air space. Our government requests permission to be put in contact with Lt. Hamilton ASAP to confirm his state of health and well being. Safe journey, Hades One out."
With that, the 22 black F-22's peeled off and blasted at speeds in excess of Mach 1 towards Urarail. Inside the Rangerian VTOL, Lt. Hamilton donned his new clothes given to him by the Rangerians. He did a double-take, making sure that in fact one of the rescued Jaegers was indeed a woman. He shook his head in mild amazement; he never would have guessed it. He then slowly approached the wounded Holy Marsh pilot. After assuring the other Holy Marsh warriors he meant no harm, he simply crouched down beside the pilot and said, "From one pilot to another, I'm sorry." Hamilton then stood back up and as he was walking away, he turned to the other Holy Marsh warriors and simply said, "He was in a technologically inferior craft, and he still could dogfight like a devil. He's one hell of a pilot." Hamilton then took up a corner towards the rear of the bay, happy to be alive.

"Sergeant wished to let you know that we'll be going through further decontamination once we reach HQ. The medics still say we might be carrying radioactive residue", she said, smiling with a curious, mischievous glint in her eyes as he looked at the Urarailian. "I saw you lookin' at me back there", Kallio almost purred, sitting down next to Hamilton, without asking permission to do so. "Why's that? Never seen a woman wearing the uniform?"

Lt. Hamilton was broken from his thoughts by the the female Jaeger. After taken a moment to compose his thoughts, he responded, "Well, yes and no. In Urarail, women are allowed in the military, but not in combat roles. Seeing a woman deployed in a frontline combat unit is the sort of thing you'ld never stop and think about, it's just always been that way." His eyes returned the playfulness Kallio was exuding, but the playfulness in his eyes were replaced by winces of pain, as Hamilton doubled over clutching his torso, before beginning to vomit violently on the floor of the VTOL bay. After vomiting, he slumped over on the deck, eyes blankly staring up at the ceiling. He suddenly felt weak and nauseated, and had the beginnings of headache.
Hamilton tried to convince himself otherwise, but he knew what the problem was. Radiation sickness.

OOC: I'll need how many soldiers you are throwing my way.
The Burlovians marched over the Razors and towards the Hitlions, many soldiers came forth. Back at Marsh command, the 7th army was given "M-H1" commands, while mobilization orders for the 8th were given. The air force planes over the annexed lands moved to attack, while Marsh air forces back in the homeland took to the sky. Holy Warrior units 3rd-1st and 2nd-8th were mobilized as well.
In the Hitlions, word reached of the invasion. LY300 Manticore batteries were set up, HAT-1s preapred, and soldiers started mfortifying their positions with clear avenues of escape to safe areas.
The air force over the annexed lands launched included F/A-18Es, F-15K Slam Eagles, F-22s, Compass Calls, and E/A-18 Growlers. Refueling aircraft refueled two air wings of F-22s, as they prepared to defend the annexed lands from air attack.
Artillery bombardment hit the Marsh lands. In the cities, there was ample cover and the artillery was not well aimed. Damge was as light as possible from a large combardment, though to say there were few casualties would be a mistake. Still though, the bombardment did little to change the defensive presence of the Sixth Army when the Burlovians attacked.
The first Marsh response came from the Manticores which, thanks to their knowledge of the area from the Eversi War and having studied the terrain at their war colleges in case they went to war again, launched accurate volleys of Manticore fire. F-15Ks and F/A-18Es attacked the ground force as well, and the Burlovian advance into and up the mountain range would be met with fierce fire from Marsh troops who had the high ground. F-22s, refueling aircraft waiting and now escorted by newly arrived SU-30MKIs from the mainland, prowled the area, waiting for the enemy air. From the nation came another air wing of F-22s, this time with four wings of SU-30MKIs. B-52s, B-1Bs, A-10s and more F-15Ks rushed to support, though they were still seventy miles out. B-2s, B-1Bs, F-35s, and one more wing of F-22s started towards another target zone...

Subject: War
Why you have decided to go to war against a nation that hasn't suffered the demoralizing effects of nuclear and chemical war, has the terrain to it's advantage, and has the weight of it's armies very close by is unknown to us. However, rest assured that as long as you attempt to drive us away, your soldiers will be slaughtered. Retreat, and many will be spared. Fight on, and your men will be victims to your insane foreign policy.
**************************************************
STT-4 relayed the fact that they did not need pick-up, but were informed of the war.
"Sir, Burlovian War Pigs have launched an attack on our forces." one of them said.
"I see. Rangerian forces, we ask of you to transport us to Corsian so we may engage the enemy. It would mean much to us, soldiers of a brother nation." Caden asked, with a rather deadpan look. He'd been through many wars and had seen much death; the invasion of some tinpot nation didn't bother him in the slightest.

Private Kallio jumped back, her eyes staring in horror as Hamilton fell to the floor.
"Säteilysairautta!" one of the medics yelled, and quickly three of the hazmat-suited medics came to Hamilton and carried him back to the decontamination area, along with Kallio. The female Jaeger stared at Hamilton as the medics opened his mouth, trying to see if there was any bleeding. Another ran a sensor over him, trying to deduct the level of radiation. One to two sieverts, he was in mild danger. 2-3 Sv, he'd have a 65% chance of survival. 3-4 Sv, with a bleeding mouth, 50%, 4-6 Sv, 40%. Six or over... it would take a miracle for him to survive.
In the cargo bay, Sergeants Paulson and Koivu turned to look at the Holy Marshians sternly.
"We have no part in your war, officer", Paulson said, facing Caden eye to eye. "We came to here to retrieve our own. If we go to the combat zone, we will risk being drawn into a fight that is not ours. Plus, you saw what just happened. That man has radiation poisoning, most likely your pilot as well. They need treatment, and they need it now. I assure you, once we reach the aircraft carrier, you can leave at your own leisure. The HQ has probably already contacted your commanders to get you back to fighting. But we will not risk those lives, or those of our own."

Caden had expected this response, though he had hoped for a better one. Regardless, he wasn't worried; STT-1, 2, 3, and 5 were in the combat zone. Whether he is there or not, his brothers would slay these new foes.
Caden went back to his men. Together, they started reciting prayers for their brothers in arms and asked the Holy Marsh for forgiveness for not being able to fight for him at all times.

The Manticores continued firing as the supply convoy's contents were given out. The other convoys that had been making their way to the area slowly hurried themselves. The 88th Air Command took command of all planes currently coming into Shanestan, while the 37th Air Command took command of all planes currently in Shanestan.
The Rangerian medics went to work on Hamilton. 3.2 Sv--not terrible, but not great either. He was coughing and hacking but his vitals were within safety parameters, even if they weren't great. One of them produced a kit full of medicines. Hamilton managed to prop himself up on one elbow. Before the Rangerian medics made Hamilton lie still, he managed to motion Kallio over. He muttered, "If I don't make it, make sure they send me back home."
Hamilton then laid back and tried to relax as the Rangerian medics began to utilize their skills.

*39 miles out from Shanestani air space*
The 22 remaining F-22's of Hades Squadron roared through the blue skies bound for Urarail. The comm then crackled to life in Hades One's cockpit.
"Hades One, this Fort Comberth AFB. Any word on Hades Nine?"
"Fort Comberth control, this is Hades One. None officially yet, but I can confirm Lt. Hamilton was alive and on board a Northern Rangerian VTOL craft."
"Copy that Hades One. Your corridor is clear all the way back home. Fort Comberth Air Base control out."

Kallio managed a small smile, but her eyes betrayed her worry for Hamilton's well-being.
"Start talking like that, and you'll have worse things to worry about than dying. You still owe us drinks for comin' after your sorry ass", she managed to say, smile on her lips as a small, see-through plastic tent was set up over Hamilton, the hazmat-suited medics working their best to keep the Urarailian and the Holy Marshian pilots' condition stable. The latter was worse off, having suffered physical trauma and internal bleeding. If he now became infected...
Meanwhile, the VTOL and her escorts were flying high, trying to bypass the war zone and get to the support fleet that waited on international waters. Last thing they needed was Burlovians, Puritanians or the rebels mistaking them for combatants...
***
While the rescue operation still continued, bringing back casualties and survivors from the war-torn and radiation-poisoned soil, a single message was sent from NRDC task force's headquarters to their Urarailian and Holy Marshian counterparts. The message was simple in both of them: the pilots were suffering from radiation poisoning, and it would be unwise to attempt to transport them yet. The Northern Rangerians had medical faculties aboard their fleet, and they would receive treatment. To Holy Marsh was also sent the message of the STT-4, and coordinates were they could be picked up.
Pro Patria Puritania
13-03-2008, 00:34
Radar scans were alerting. Thousands of unidentified objects flew from south-west towards the newly based camps in the territory reclaimed by Burlovian Defence Forces. An alarm was given, and all soldiers took cover as fast as they could. All of the 700.000 men were occupied with gas masks and protective armor against the radiation, but they helped little under a chemical attack. In an instant thousands of soldiers were deceased as the burning chemicals layed waste over the bases.
An hour later, all the remaining forces started an invasion on Holy Marsh and Pro Patria Puritania areas, heavy artillery and modern tanks bombarding everything on their way. Two aircraft carriers deployed on coast started to send fighters and heavy bombers to devastate military and industrial areas, including the uranium mines. Cargo ships with destroyer escorts sent from motherland started to transport supplies on ports.
ooc: can I ask you why exactly are you attacking me and Marsh? Not that I'm against it, just curious. I'll make a better post whem I'm not tired.
ic:
More chemical weapons were thrown at the Burlovian forces. The Serpent Guard, now numbering 100,000 began small offensives supported by regular military units such as armoured battalions and infantry.
The 3 aircraft carriers that were anchored a few kilometers from the nearest ports sent their own fighters to intercept the Burlovian airforce. The battle that ensued was fierce, and the 50 Serpent Guard pilots that had been sent into the fire in addition to the airforce pilots were performing extremely well despite the fact that usually they were only given credit as temple guards.
The Urarailian military High Command sent a simple message acknowledging and agreeing with Northern Rangeria's suggestion that Lt. Hamilton not be moved. They also requested that Northern Rangeria inform Lt. Hamilton he had been awarded the Cross of Glory, the Empire's highest military honor, for "distinguished conduct and valorous action above and beyond the call of duty," as well as tell the Lieutenant his nation was praying for his recovery.
---------------------------------------------------
Lt. Hamilton couldn't help but chuckle at Private Kallio's statement. He murmured that the way he saw it, it was the Rangerians that owed him a drink, as he was the one that "found their asses."
Across the distance, the 22 remaining F-22's of Hades Squadron landed at Fort Comberth Air Base, happy to be home, but concerned about their prodigal wingmate. However, Captain Shetland, aka Hades One, noticed that across the tarmac that another 26 midnight black Imperial F-22's of Daedalus Squadron were sitting in a standby position, ready to take off at a moment's notice. He also notice five B-1 Lancers next to F-22's, and the B-1's appeared to be in the process of having "heavy" ordinance loaded on board. The Holy Empire of Urarail was aware of the escalation occurring in Shanestan, and wanted to be ready in case more drastic action was needed.

"Huomio. Lähestymme lentotukialusta. Valmistautukaa laskeutumiseen", the intercom at the VTOL cargo bay announced. "Attention. We are approaching the aircraft carrier. Prepare for landing."
The Jaegers sat down on the benches alongside the bay's sides, strapping themselves in with seat belts. The medics provided similar straps for Hamilton and the still unconscious pilot. The VTOL began to slow down, the floor tilting slightly as the landing engines began to roar. The whole plane seemed to tremor, Kallio still remaining close to Hamilton, the Jaeger sergeant Paulson keeping a close eye on the STT-4.
The engines were still roaring as the back hatch slowly opened, and the wind blew inside. A salty wind, carrying the smell of jet fuel. The VTOL had landed on its place on board of the Northern Rangerian aircraft carrier, similar planes landing and taking off. Inside, one of the medics came to Hamilton. "Sir, we'll be taking you and the survivors to further decontamination", he spoke after removing his gas mask. "Hold on."
There was no hollering, no hurrays this time. The landing strip was constantly busy, new VTOLs and Hornets taking off to return to the nuclear-blasted lands. Jaegers were taken for debriefing, while Sgt. Koivu, privates Rosenqvist, Sundstrom and Kallio, Lt. Hamilton and the Holy Marshian pilot were taken to the sick-bays for decontamination and treatment.
The Holy Marshians received a similar chilly welcome from the carrier personnel as they had from the Jaegers: clearly this was a war the Northern Rangerians did not want to take part of, and the foreign soldiers were viewed with suspicion. A short moment later, however, a naval officer bearing the insignias of lieutenant marched to them.
"Who is your commanding officer?" he asked, his gaze running across the Holy Marshian ranks.

ic: The Rhinos slowed momentarily as the convoy was fired upon, they then began moving again not wanting to lose ground.
The convoy was packed close together which allowed only a few marines with small arms to return fire from the hatches on the top. Tarek took position firing from the top of his Rhino, he set his M32 (http://thearmedrepublicofislamajudianity.pbwiki.com/Al-Asad+Arms+Manufacturing) (ooc: 1st picture, 3rd weapon) to automatic and shot grenades as often as he could, following the smoke trails from RPGs.
The minigun turrets succeeded in taking no less then a dozen men down early on in the battle. However, only one of them carried an rpg. The others continued to open fire on the convoy of APC's. The range for mortar rounds were judged with use from an old, but still operating graphic calculator. The radio operator for the group was attempting to get in touch with a rebel outpost for reinforcements. More RPG rounds were let loose on the convoy and the rebels still continued fighting, even though six more men were lost.

2 Artillery Divisions, totalling 60.000 men
-1250 R-99 Rocket Artillery, launches low-yield explosive missiles
-1000 Lev-4 Light Artillery, fast and mobile field artillery
-750 Kiwi Heavy Artillery, long range, high damage
2 Tank Divisions, totalling 100.000 men
-1500 Y-07 Modern Tanks, mobile, high damage
-500 Crusher Modern Heavy Tanks, name tells everything
1 Mobile AA Division, totalling 20.000 men
-2000 Beekiller Mobile AAs, has 4 SAMs and 4 basic AA guns
1 Mobile Missile Launcher Division, totalling 20.000 men
-1500 Grend-5 Mobile Missile Launchers, launches high yield tactical missiles
5 Infantry Divisions, totalling 250.000 men
100 Renard Modern Jet Fighters
50 Z-3 Strategic Bombers
Makes a total of 650.000 men, the rest are dead or left behind to secure strategically important areas. All my aircraft are not on carriers, but on airfields I´ve claimed.
Sensing another wave of missiles, radar system alerted again. Major Lithanovits decided to respond to continuous missile attacks, and ordered Grend-5 Missile Launchers to respond to the attack by 3000 tactical missiles. He also ordered airstrikes on defensive lines. The forces had gotten smarter from the previous missile attack, and they covered in civilian houses and anything where it was easy to make it airthight. This lowered the amount of casualties greatly, but some equipment still took hit.

the small arms fire had little effect on the APCs themselves but were of some risk to the men that fired out from the top hatches and those who operated the turrets. still the rpg and mortar fire were the real threats, however, with the massive amounts of dust and debris neither side was that accurate.
Tarek knew that if they got bogged down they would only take more casualties, he quickly ducked back into the Rhino for what was the only break he had had for what seemed like hours. "Radio into the nearest town and get us some air support!" he shouted, not even directing the command to any single person.
Tarek rose back up quickly and continued firing, from the Rhino behind him, he heard "Watch out!" as a mortar round landed a bit too close for comfort at their right.

You also did post and say that your planes took off from Aircraft carriers, so you can't change that. Also, tell me about these Renard planes because I have yet to hear about them. I beg you not to make the same mistake Halo made in regards to realism. In fact, I'm going to need lots of information about lots of your equipment because it really sounds like you just came up with the names. The lights flickered once again. It was merely a few seconds before the generators, replenished by a new supply of fuel, were kicked back on. The scene was a typical one: a few dozen men standing around a large map and discussing what to do next. One of them smiled and ordered one of the men in the background to get what he referred to as, "The good stuff."
Seconds later, the man came back carrying two large boxes.
"Show the first one"
The first box was lifted, put on the table, and opened. Gasps filled the room.
"A FIM-92 Stinger MANPAD. Our engineers have finally figured out how to build them by reverse engineering not only the launchers, but the missiles as well."
"Now the second one."
Confusion of what the second device actually was spread across the room.
"Gentlemen, gentlemen. This is our newest IED. It functions like an anti-tank missile. There's a copper head on one end and explosives on the other. When the explosives go off, the copper can cut through armor."
Applause filled the room. Already these weapons were beginning distribution. The IEDs were being placed near military bases and in regularly used military transport routes. Mines were also placed along these same routes. FIM-92's were distributed amongst various rebel cells across the country and they were ordered to use them freely and cause as much damage to enemy planes as possible.

The victorious marines cheered as they foraged the battlefiel, finsihing off most of the wounded rebels except for two, who were kept for interrogation.
Tarek brought the first up and threw him onto the ramp of the Rhino. "Where is the nearest of your rebel bases?" he asked. The young man didn't talk, Tarek hovered over him and asked again, he said nothing again. He then took him by the collar and headbutted him back down.
"I'm going to ask you one last time, where is the nearest of your filthy, pathetic bases?" The rebel spat at him and did nothing else, Tarek took out his combat knife and instead of approaching the one he was interrogating, he approached the other, a similar looking man who must've been only a few years younger.
"You know, you two look alike, maybe your brothers," he said calmly before grabbing the younger's hand and holding it against the side of a Rhino, he then made to cut off the boy's fingers but then the older began talking.
"It's a few miles west of here, close to the next town. Please just leave him alone," the older sobbed.
"That's what i wanted to here, anything else you want to tell me? Defences?" asked Tarek. He paused for a moment, giving Tarek enough reason to raise the knife again.
"Ok, ok, I only know that they have a larger garrison of rebels there, but that's it, I'm telling the truth," he stated.
"See, was that difficult?" asked Tarek before letting go of the boy's hand, only to wrap his other around his neck and cut his throat. He then dropped his body, his brother leaped at him in rage but Tarek quickly disembowled him.
He sheathed his knife and headed back into the Rhino, "We're moving out boys."

The marines have abandoned land south of the mountain range. Now they had to take whatever unclaimed land there was and take it before the myriad of nations that had swarmed here planted flags.
The task force had swelled to the 3rd and 5th War Groups, 600,000 men, plus AeSCom (Aerospace Command, AeSCom is abbreviation) aircraft. They had a lot of ground to cover, and manpower was the only way.
The Militia platoons have been a little slower in arrival lately, mainly because of all that secession business (see Int'l incidents, title "Secession!"). In that case, two platoons of regulars were left behind to keep order.
-The Rebels-
It had mostly degenerated to futile resistance, as now there were many backwater nations attacking, as well as a little more of those damn big ones.
Their first target was Islamajudanity, called IJY by the members. They'd captured their brethren, and they were going to RPG away until they got them back. And they're not in the mood to lose another stronghold.
Some of their BMP's had been shadowing the Rhinos. As soon as they stopped, they were to kill the soldiers and rescue the hostages, alive.
To get things started, a rebel climbed onto the top of the turret, aimed his LAW, and fired.

Red Tide2
13-03-2008, 23:00
Secret IC: Red Tides contribution to the nuclear destruction of Shanestan had been minimal. Only three ICBMs had been used by Red Tide, all of them single warheads... if carrying rather large weapons.
However, General Secretary Narmonov had made a decision, one that would be made at the expense of any survivors left in the parts of Shanestan that were unoccupied:
Shanestan was to become Red Tide's nuke testing ground.
Not the parts that were claimed, of course... for Red Tide had no intention of provoking other nations. Nor the parts that had already been nuked, for that would not be as good as a test ground for nuclear weapons.
Instead, a unlucky patch of the nation on the coast was selected. Consisting of three large port cities and numerous smaller towns, this part of Shanestan had been a vibrant trading place prior to the Governmental Collapse...
Now it was a unprecedented lawless nightmare.
300 kilometers away from this patch of land was positioned a Stoneager-Class Cruise Missile Submarine. 24 CM-2 Cruise Missiles sat in its launch tubes. The CM-2 was a derivative of the American Tomahawk, with the range halved and the payload doubled.
And thus, each cruise missile carried a 400 kiliton thermonuclear device, but not just any nukes... these were 'salted' nukes. Designed to be specially radioactive.
The submarine raised itself to periscope depth and scanned the area, no ships were around. It listened with its passive SONAR for a long time... and no subs were found.
Thus... the order was given to launch.
Public IC: The initial boost phase of the cruise missiles would show up quite clearly on any orbiting heat-based detection sattelites. They would quickly dissappear as their rocket engines cut-off and the missiles descended into a silent cruise across the sea... to the happless region of Shanestan.
The nukes were set to ground-burst to produce maximum fallout.
The Stone Ager Sub slinked away, as fast, yet quietly, as it could.
OOC: Just decided to keep stirring crap up... as much as I could.

OOC: Burlovia, the people I've talked to don't think Low Yield tactical missiles are possible, and considering how close your men are to it damage would be severe. As such, in this RP, these will be very long range missile launchers. Until you can accurately give stats on your weapon systems(And they are MT-Realistic) I will assume they match mine.
Longer ranged and more devastating fire rained down on the Marsh positions, who had by now entrenched themselves as much as possible. The seventh army, which had finally mobilized, crossed in full into Shanestan. Other armies started entering as well after finishing their mobilization. Supply convoys continued non-stop to the Marsh positions, evacuating the injured and placing fresh bodies on the line. Knowing that the Burlovian forces were split in two, the Marsh forces already had the advantage in numbers, which increased by the hour. Marsh technology, which was quite advanced, was being brought to bare.

In the air, the radiation was screwing with both enemy AA systems as well as a planes missile lock-on systems. Compass Calls and Commando Solos furthered the chaos by scrambling radar systems for the enemy AA defenses and opposing planes, scrambling lock-on systems even more and obscuring the radar signatures of SU-30MKIs, as the F-22s needed no more help. F-15Ks started hitting the enemy artillery while B-1Bs and B-52s started to attack the antiair defenses which had not been able to do much to stop the air due to effective electronic warfare countermeasures. A-10s started to attack the missile launchers. F/A-18Es attacked targets that presented themselves. Manticores continued firing.

There were two wings of F-22s in the field at that time. Each wing had five squadrons, and each squadron had 15 aircraft. Unlike earlier when only pieces of wings had gotten up at the same time, the wings were organized now. Seventy-five planes per wing, two wings, one-hundred and fifty F-22s.
There were three wings of SU-30MKIs, meaning they brought two-hundred and twenty-five planes to bare. More F-22s and SU-30MKIs were arriving, though they were still fifty miles out. They would arrive within a few minutes.
Three-hundred and seventy-five air superiority aircraft, experienced and extremely well trained and motivated, were ready to engage an enemy that was fighting in a nuclear wasteland far from home for reasons that made little sense.
*******************
Two squadrons of F-22s, three wings of F-35As, two wings of B-1Bs, and a squadron of B-2s approached their target zone...
OOC: I will now RP two different attacks. You said your planes originally took off from a carrier, so I will RP that one first. However, if you wish to change history and say they had taken off from captured airfields, I will RP that as well. Depending on what you choose, you will see the armament differ. This is due to I obviously having sent differently armed craft to the field depending on whether or not you used carriers.
The first ones in were the F-35s armed with two AGM-84 Harpoon Anti-Ship missiles each were the first to come in. One wing per carrier, or seventy-five aircraft in total. They are able to get close in, as the nuclear fall-out from the mainland masks their approach until they are nearly within firing range. Seventy five missiles are fired each carrier from close range.
The third air wing of F-35s targets any target that presents itself, switching to ground missiles. The B-1Bs and B-2s start bombing the closest port, using cluster munitions, dumb bombs, and incidenary devices in an effort to leave the port unable to process supplies until extensive repairs have been done
F-22s circled around, waiting for any surprises. The bombing campaign finished and the planes started flying home. It is then that they started counting their losses as well as the losses of their enemy...(As you can see, I have left these areas open, but be realistic. If you used carriers, then your carriers are very lightly defended as you don't have any other large fighter forces or ships in the area.)
*******************************
RP: ATTACK ON THE AIRFIELD
The force moved to their target zone, having to rely on old maps and self-guidance as the radiation rendered those systems useless. They knew the layout of Shanestan well; most of these pilots had fought in the Eversi War and had flew over these same lands. Using analysis of the situation in the north, the knowledge of airfields in the nation, and the flight patterns of the Burovian planes to narrow the the list down to a few airfields.
The force broke into three groups to attack three different airfields. F-35s moved in closer to the airfields and launched HARM missiles at radars. They were able to get close enough to have a reasonable shot at victory as the nuclear fallout had rendered radar poor. They then switched over to other missiles and targeted planes still on the ground. B-2s started dropping GBUs on hangars, barracks, and supply areas, targeting areas that could be used for command and control as well as storage and shelter. B-1Bs started dropping cluster bombs on tarmacs to destroy runways, cause heavy loss of life, and render the airfields useless after such damage. F-22s prowled the sky, waiting to see if any aircraft would attempt to flee the airfields.
After the mission was over, the planes departed and flew south, counting their losses as well as the losses of the enemy...

Public IC: One after the other, great fireballs snapped into existance in brilliant flashes of light. Gouging craters into the Earth, intense heat vaporised all that surrounded them, and belching out great shockwaves that levelled anything in their paths for tens of kilometers around.
The four cities and nineteen towns were instantly wiped from the face of the Earth. The few survivors horribly maimed and burned, waiting for death from either their wounds, the great fires that were now being set alight, and/or the intense levels of radiation settling to Earth. 23 mushroom clouds rose into the air, both horrifying yet beautiful as they rose.
23 detonations... but there had been 24 missiles.
There had been a 1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000 chance for this too occur, a number so large that it should have been statistically impossible...
And somehow, it happened.
One of the cruise missiles, hugging the terrain, utilising its GPS and inertial navigation, had somehow, someway messed up its targetting coordinates. Perhaps one of the personnel on the sub had screwed up, perhaps there was a computer error.
That was irrellevant, however.
What was relevant was the nuke travelled on into central Shanestan, hugging the Earth, only a few dozen feet above whatever ground it was taking. Far below the capability of surface-based RADAR to track it, especially in this mountainous environment.
The radiation and electromagentic effects aided the missile. Sure, its GPS updates ceased, but the missile could continue on inertial navigation alone and besides, the radiation and electromagnetic effects would interfere with the few RADARs that could detect it(mainly airborne ones).
It continued through central Shanestan, over the ruined, poisoned landscapes that had befallen the poor nation.
It's mistaken target? A frontline between two armies... two armies belonging to the Holy Marsh and Burlovia...

OOC:
Look, I'm having fun seeing this placed nuked. But, either way, what I'm about to RP is PMT and CAN be ignored. I just want everyone to go, WTF, in IC and stuff. Cause I'm Anny Nukem, and I like explosions.
IC:
It was quite fun destroying an anarchic nation. However, it was less fun doing it for just fun. There had to be a purpose. Considering more Nuclear Explosions were detected in Shanestan, and considering they weren't Anagonian, Chief General Oscar Vladinchi wanted to make a clear statement to those who challenged the Nuclear Might of the United Republic. With, of course, something completely different.
Low Earth Orbit - Ion Cannon Satellite - Above Shanestan
No civilian casualties, no damage to foreign nations. It was just a test, and what better way than an already nuked out region? The Ion Cannon targeted the desolate wasteland that Anagonia had previously targeted for "Nuclear Testing". This test was supposed to see what would happen to the radioation when traces of Super-Hot Ions, or whatever, came into contact. Blah blah blah, science gibberish. None of it an interest to the Technician assigned to the Satellites maintenance and firing.
So he pressed the fire button, a square on his computer screen with the image of the Death Star firing its magnificent Planet Destroying Laser. He sighed, if only he had one of those.
In orbit, the Skylab Station suddenly came to life. Six more just like it were stationed all around the globe for constant authority of the Anagonian Military upon any nation, any where. So long as they weren't destroyed first, which wasn't likely on the first shot. The second was questionable. Thankfully, as the outer skin detached and moved back, the solar panel assembly turning on its axis to split and move to both sides, there was only permission for one Cannon shot.
At the base of the skylab assembly, the cone transformed and split in four. A cannon slowly erected from inside the assembly, glowing a hellish green. The nose of the cannon lit brightly in charge mode, and soon all capacitors were at their limits. Once the on board CPU received the command to fire, a constant stream of deadly ionic energy shot forth onto the Shanestan Nuclear Wasteland.
Anagonian Created Fun Land - AKA Nuclear Wasteland
The sky suddenly split as a massive shock wave effect dispersed any and all clouds trying to cover the horror below. The greenish tint of the landscape, mixed occasionally with glassed surfaces and bare dirt, turned bright as any and all air was shoved in all directions. A beam of harmless light struck the ground. For the first few seconds, all was quiet. Then, almost as if Zeus himself struck the lands, a Thunderous noise erupted that shook the land.
In an instant, the lands turned bluish white, no surface seen. Then, just as sudden, the ground heaved as it quaked and exploded outward. Molten lava jetted from the surface, followed by flying rocks engulfed in flame. From the center of where the beam of light struck, the ground in all directions blasted in a wave of destruction unseen in so many years. Everything in its path was destroyed.
Then the quiet returned as the shock wave past. In its wake, a molten crater of lava flowed to the surface, emanating intense and deadly heat. For a two mile radius, everything had been destroyed. Everything, that is, that wasn't destroyed by the Nuclear Apocalypse. Once a hopeful stretch of land that could be restored, now hell on earth. Soon, the lava would cool, but not for many weeks, even months.
The Ion Cannon Satellite returned to its original form, a deceptive station of scientific research. Going on its merry orbit.

When Prime Minister Altzehy received reports of the latest nuclear strikes on Shanestan, he lost all composure. "The damned fools! What's wrong with them? What the hell did that poor little nation ever do to them?" Altzehy stormed about his office. He had seen senseless violence during Urarail's Second Civil War, but not on this scale. He growled that he should send the entirety of Urarail's Air Force and ICBM compliment straight down the "nuke-happy bastards" throats. But what would that accomplish, except more death.
He decided that he would do something however. In the north-central part of Shanestan, there was a handful of isolated, small rural villages that hadn't been conquered or nuked to oblivion yet. And Altzehy would be damned if he would just sit and watch. He ordered the already prepped Daedalus Squadron to launch escorting 3 dozen Blackhawks. It was risky, and foolish, but it was worth it to him.

OOC: Change it to Southern Shanestan if Burlovia and I are the targets.:P
The missile detonated in the small valley, where the Burlovian forces were moving towards the Hitlions. The explosion did damage to them for sure, but what exactly and the numbers was unknown to the Marsh forces. The detonation went up the mountain and damage could be felt across the Marsh line.
*****
Caden awoke, his body throbbing with incredible pain. He looked around, his eyes heavy. The Pave Hawk they had been flying in had crashed, what had happened?
"Post Arjeur, this is STT-4 calling, over." Caden said over the radio. His men had piled into three Pave Hawks and had been on their way to Corsian from the carrier that they had been before.
"STT-4, this is post Arjeur, over. What is your ETA?" The radio operator said. In the background, you could hear Manticore fire going out and could hear distant explosions of enemy rocket fire. Post Ajeur was the name of a small town that had been occupied by a company of Holy Warriors, and was involved in the artillery exchange and the start of a Burlovian ground attack.
"Five minutes, over." Caden said.
He looked down. They were over the valley. If they kept on going straight, they'd land in the lines of the enemy. Their job was to link up with some forces west of Corsian before the enemy attack-
A bright flash. Caden knew better than to look, and his experiences in this wasteland had told him what this was. The other Holy Warriors saw it as well and braced themselves, a few of them started an open prayer. It wouldn't be long before the EMP pulse knocked them out of the air.
"Land us now!" Caden barked. The pilots hurriedly started trying to land in the valley as Caden's orders were heeded with extreme speed. The first helicopter- the one that carried his second in command and had been close to the ground, landed quickly. The second helicopter was almost to the ground when the EMP hit, and Caden's helicopter was far enough away from the ground to worry Caden when the EMP hit. Then the spinning, the spinning, and the crash followed by the void.
Caden stood up, his left arm broken. He stumbled away from the crash site and took in his surroundings. He couldn't see any buildings, nor any signs of life. A mushroom cloud could be seen in the northeast, placing him east of Point Arjeur and at the base of the Hitlions. He put on his transponder, though he knew that headquarters wouldn't be able to pick it up. The best he could hope for was that if his brothers survived they could find him.
He found that both pilots had died, as had four of the STT-4 team. Four others had been wounded. After some convincing, one of them, Pvt. Scion, woke up and helped caden move the others to a large section of underbrush. They activated their transponders, both the wounded and the awake, and the Private started tending to the wounds of the injured.
A few minutes later...
Caden looked through the sights on his AVIR, only using one arm to hold the weapon. He saw his second in command, Sgt. Niels, trot up a small road with his squad in tow.
"Brothers!" Caden yelled, his voice hoarse and broken.
The squad ran up to meet Caden. After they had landed, they had taken cover. The fallout from the blast had not done much to the area that they had landed in. The helicopters were still useless, but the pilots were alive.
"What about Sgt. Allison-Wendy?" Caden asked.
"We saw their helicopter come crashing down closer to the Razors. We were on our way there when we saw your transponder signal." Corporal Tyson, the second-in-command of Sgt. Niels, said.
As if Marsh himself heard their thoughts, the data-pad on Niels' thigh went off. Looking at it, he saw weak three weak transponder signals coming north, two miles away.
"Hmm, it seems our brothers have survived their crash. Sgt. Niels, you take two of your men and go to the crash site. If there are any wounded who can't be brought back, stay at the crash site. No one will get left behind, brothers." Caden said.
"For the Holy Marsh." Sgt. Niels said, nodding his head. He promptly turned around and started off on his journey.
*****
Hours Later, back with the sixth army...
Recovery efforts were ongoing. Some parts of the city had suffered extensive damage, and the wounded were piled high. 35% of the city was evacuated as radiation levels were too high. Most Marsh attack aircraft were okay as they had started their ingress back to Marsh lands long before the nuke had hit. The fighters had been fighting Burlovian fighters north of the area, and thus were not caught in the EMP blast. The same could not be said of many helicopters that had been flying around to attack Burlovian forces. Many had crashed. However, the SACHERI system showed it's power; after being out for a short time, the system was able to reboot.
In the rear, the other armies that had been mobilized rushed to aid. The Home Guard and Church moved into action, hundreds of thousands of aid workers started mobilizing to get to the frontlines.
DEFCON was put at level 2, and the entirety of the Marsh military was called up. Reserve forces were kept waiting, but ready to tap. Police and Home Guard units put the nation under martial law. The valley was dead, and few looked down to see what had happened to their former enemies,. Those not helping in the recovery efforts manned their defensive positions.

They remembered 24 missile launches coming from a submarine earlier. 23 nuclear impacts had been detected, so it didn't take long to figure out that the missile had been launched from the sub. Analysts then studied all nations that had been involved in the incident and the different type of subs they used. They then took out nations that had either acted friendly towards the nation or had not used nukes so far. This then brought up one nation, and one sub class:
Stone Ager-class sub, Red Tide.

A secret meeting was held. Some called for immediate retaliation. Others called for an apology. OOC: Attention NB, you're going to want to do something with this
Generic unoccupied port in the north, former Shanestan
The Red Paw convoy was approaching the shore and many of the soldiers, sailors and relief workers on board were clearly worried by the continuous nuclear strikes but also by the fact that at one point during the night the entire sky had lit up with an eerie blue light that seemed to slam down to the earth from the the heavens. Whilst a few superstitious religious loonies proclaimed it was divine powers flexing their muscles, they were generally silenced either with reasoned debate or with sticks.
Generally the soldiers preferred sticks.
Although the convoy did have an escort of three destroyers and two huge troop transports, this was not a military mission. This was a relief operation and was treated as such. Rather than come steaming into the port, proudly waving the Imperial flag, a small launch was sent to shore whilst the bulk of the fleet waited at sea.
The launch was small and unarmed, waving a white flag in the hope that they would not be shot at. On board were ten people, of which only one was in uniform. None of them seemed to be carrying weapons, but one of them carried a loudspeaker which he was using to call out the following.
"Attention Shanestaners, this is the Imperial Relief Mission from the Empire of the Wolf. We have come to give humanitarian and medical aid to your people. May we land?"

By this time, Marsh Command had grown accustomed to nuclear launches. After their projected points of impact were shown to be on some small towns in the west, it was waved off as a non-issue.

I think low-yield tactical missiles are possible, have a larger missile and make a smaller version of it. I don´t think I´m being unrealistic, as for example Soviet Union had many different weapon designs and my nation is quite much better than USSR ever.

As to my fighters, consider them as average modern jet fighters, with missiles and guns and stuff. I have a life and there is no way I´m going to give sharp specs on my equipment.
No, you haven´t sayed anything about casualities, but that doesn´t stop you from godmodding. My men may be coming from a nuclear wasteland, but so are yours. The radiation should have already affected your areas, no matter if it is high in the mountains. You are also ignoring my artillery, which is pounding you quite hard already from the distance. In case there has been a misunderstanding, I only attack areas on Shanestan. The force of my assault is 650.000 men, like I´ve said before.
Remember, it is not about winning but telling a story.
IC: More reinforcements were called from Burlovia, 1 tank division, 2 infantry divisions and 1 artillery division, in addition to Burlovian fleet B, which includes 3 battleships (AA, heavy battleship cannons), 30 destroyers (AA, light cannons, 2 attack helicopters), 20 attack submarines (torpedoes) and 4 aircraft carriers, and many hundred transport vessels with supplies and more airforces in their cargo bays. A total of 180.000 men.
AA stations started firing on any enemy aircraft, but the airfields took serious damage. Grends fired more tactical missiles, another 3000 to make enemy forces to wish they were never born.

North-central Shanestan, 90 miles from primary battlefront
The Urarailian choppers landed. The 26 F-22's of Daedalus Squadron circled overhead in a defensive pattern. Stepping into the village, the handful of Uraralian Specials (OOC: "Specials" are the Special-Ops branch of the Imperial military--they have better training and equipment than normal soldiers, but aren't engineered or anything) darted into the village. As they passed the outlying buildings, they spotted a few terrified faces peering out at them behind curtains and doorways.
The highest-ranking Special then addressed the village in general. "People of Shanestan, we have come to evacuate you. Your country has just been hit again by nuclear attacks, and many colonizing powers have begun a war in the midst of their landgrab. My nation is offering to take any willing refugees to Urarail, where the government will care for your needs until you find a new home."

We have no problem with using nuclear weapons, they are killing weapons just as any other gun. Leave Shanestan so we can restore its government and leave ourselves, otherwise there will be many casualties on all sides.
OOC: First, you said you had launched from carriers and then said you had been launching these same planes from airfields. You changed your story; you can't mesh them together now. You can have made-up weapons, but you need to make sure that the other player know what they are capable of. Things like the Manticore can be found here on the forum. Thirdly, the way you made your missiles sound was nuclear, so my fault there. Fourth, read the RP: My area was not being attacked with nuclear weapons, so you just don't know what was going on up until Red Tide's last post. My men are fifty miles away from their homeland and haven't been walking through many miles of nuclear landscape. Your men have; saying that my men had a higher morale is just plain obvious also as I have not lost thousands until Red Tide's attack, which you happen to completely ignore in your post. Your men can have the best tech and degrees in Metaphysical Engineering, but the fact that you have lost quite many men and have been walking through that landscape would lower morale. Even if nothing did happen to your men, you know nothing of my nation and why I would say morale was higher, which is something I will always say and you can choose to ignore. I have not ignored your artillery, but I just so happen to be in a better position to not take as many casualties from your attacks. And, yet again, what happened to Red Tide's nuclear attack in your post, and just pick which air strike you prefer. First you said your planes took off from two aircraft carriers on the coast, then you said they took off from airfields. You also keep on just saying 650,000 men, but you said you ahd been attacking both Pro-Patria and I, so how many are attacking I and how many are attacking him. That is the question. And you're right, it is not about winning, it is about telling a story. But the best stories are ones that seem realistic, not ones where shit just happens at random.
OOC: This was your post. You can either say that the carriers aren't there, or that the other post where you said Airfields is wrong. There is no half/half. This is why you think about what you want to do before you do it.

Another loudspeaker from the shore responded: "You may land, but be advised, this is land belonging to the legitimate Shanestanian government. Any hostile aggression will be equally met by the proud, free people of the Shanestanian Liberation Front."
It wasn't long after the announcement was done that around 100 rebels poured out of buildings in the port city to greet the relief mission and, if they weren't hostile, give them a warm welcoming to Shanestan.

Sgt. Niels moved towards the third crash site. In the east, the mushroom cloud started to thin out and vanish. He could only guess how many were dead or wounded.
Moving quickly through the valley, he came upon the crash site. It was on fire, the helicopter was, and three Holy Warriors were to the side. Before he checked on them, he looked inside of the twisted wreckage of the helicopter. If anyone had been alive when the crashe started, those left in there had been burnt to death. Saying a silent prayer Niels turned towards the three that had pulled themselves away fromn the crash. One of them was still fully conscious, another was unconscious and Niels couldn't tell what was wrong. The third man, however, seemed to have deadly burns arching across the right side of his body.
Niels knew his orders. He and the sonscious man pulled the wounded into some underbrush neearby and they did the best they could. The two Holy Warriors that had come with Niels then hid in the underbrush with Niels and the others. One man reached into the burning helicopter and turned on their transponders as well. When Sacheri came online, the Marsh military would know exactly where they were.
************
Some time later, around the time of the recovery efforts inmy earlier post...
SACHERI came online and their transponders, along with thousand sof others, were picked up. They were west of the Marsh forces. Not knowing it was STT-4, the military put them on a tier-three rescue level.

"We have come to help your people," advised the senior Skgorrian, "we've got food, medical supplies and other assorted humanitarian aid. In fact, I have something that you chaps," he gestured at the heavily-armed rebels, "might be especially interested in." He gestured for two men to come forward, and they came off the launch carrying a crate. One of them took a crowbar and levered it open, revealing the contents. Inside were ten AK-107 rifles, some magazines and a lot of ammunition.
"See something you like? We've got plenty more," beamed the Skgorrian, and the others laughed.

Once the crate of weapons had been reveled, the rebels attitude towards the Skgorrian group went instantly from semi-suspicious to extremely friendly. The supplies were carried into one of the larger buildings in the port city and the Skgorrians were given a warm invitation to join the Shanestani rebels for dinner. Traditional Shanestani songs were played by the rebels as they moved the supplies. There finally seemed to be some hope for their revolution to succeed.

OOC: What is your problem? I did launch aircraft from carriers, and THEN I launched them from airfields, in a post where that one guy called airstrikes. Those were from airfields. I´m sorry if I forgot to mention that, but I don´t see your point of attacking almost empty airfields anycase. I made pretty clear in my post where I listed my forces what the weapons are like, even if you want caliber sizes and stuff I´m not going to make them up. I know that your area hasn´t been nuked and that you haven´t walked through nuked areas, but radiation has a nasty feature: it spreads. There is no difference if you have walked or sitted during the exposure, it still has the same effect. I had to ignore red tide´s post because of a lack of time, and it seemed quite irrelevant to me if no-man´s land is nuked, because as I read it it fell in between our lines, where are supposedly no-one. I don´t see why nuking is so big thing, just bombs of a bigger scale. I need more specific information on how close the nuke hit with what strength, before I can say anything for sure.
As to how my men are scattered, they are not in two seperate groups. As I understood it, you and Patria Puritania are occuping neighbouring areas, which would make it possible for me to keep a single line. If this is not the case, I have misread your posts and I would have to scatter them. Until I get better information I´m not doing anything IC so there won´t be confusion.
I´m not doing random shit, I wanted to have a good war RP, but it seems like everyone are willing to just nuke the place and do nothing else, which seems quite futile random shit. I did nuke, yes, but that was part of pre-invasion tactics. As to why I picked you was that you were actually doing something and my nation´s ideologies are very different from yours, making it a good reason for war.
However, as it seems that this RP is ending, I quess there is nothing left now.

100 Renard Modern Jet Fighters
50 Z-3 Strategic Bombers
All my aircraft are not on carriers, but on airfields I´ve claimed.
Two aircraft carriers deployed on coast started to send fighters and heavy bombers
See where the problem is? At no point did you tell us what planes lifted off from the carriers and the airfields, and before you edited the post you said your planes had taken off of airfields. If you're going to do dual launches, then you need to say what takes off from where. As for attacking empty airfields; your planes have to land somewhere. Try landing a plane on a cluster-munition filled tarmac, and try re-arming it for another sortie when your stockpile of munitions have been blown to hell. The airfields are basically castrated.
"I made pretty clear in my post where I listed my forces what the weapons are like"
Yeah, you did. I'm not angry over that, but I was just telling you that next time, try to make sure your foe knows ecatly what he/she is up against.
And you didn't have to ignore Red Tide's post, you choose to ignore it. If my forces, who are just as far away from the nuke hit as yours are, suffered heavy damage while on a high mountain range, then your forces would suffer as well. You get to decide what the damage is, but you can't ignore it. And, yes, radiation bleeds for sure, but the nuclear chaos has not even been relatively close to Marsh lines until now. About the furthest that radiation had gone to until now was the Razors. Prop-Patria and I are not that close, especially considering I am in the lower 2.5% of the nation.
As for nukes: Well, yeah, much bigger bombs, bombs so big they render previous bombing in the area affected useless. Bombs so big that one can neuter an army (if it was, for some reason, still.). Radiation after-effects and the EMP pulse generated will cause havoc much longer than any other bombing strategy.
As for your reasoning to go to war: If you had said that at first, then it would have been better.:P But, either way, it did just happen all of a sudden like. No lead-up, no discussion of going to war in your government, it just happened.
As for the constant nuking: I'm with you on that. It bores me when it is like, "NUKE LAUNCHED111" because they always follow it u with, "AND IT CAN NOT BE STOPPED111".
As for what else can happen in this RP...well, STT-4 is near the Razors, away from Marsh lines, somewhat close to Islamajudianity's forces in the Razors AND closer to Burlovian military forces than any Marsh support. NR and Uraralian forces can see the transponders and are in a better position to hel. In other words, a special forces team is stranded for a bit.

The Rhinos approached the town, which was quite large for one located in such an isolated place. However, the many mining structures in the distance signified how important this town once was.
As they drove closer, several mortar rounds erupted around them in the widening passage, the rebels were making a stand here. The first Rhino in the convoy began making its way towards a pathetic road block but was suddenly rocked by an explosion, not from a mortar though.
"They've set up IEDs, if we take the Rhinos in any further we'll get torn to shreds," said Tarek. "If we're hoofing it, then we'll need to start the assault now. Radio into the HATD, start dropping those Ergeben!"
Above them, an HATD hovered stealthily at 37,000 ft. When the pilots gave them the ok, a company of black-armored spec ops Ergeben started their drop from the sky into the town, the commanders were in high velocity drop pods while most others used parachutes. Before more mortar fire could rain down upon them, Tarek also began the charge of the marines into the town. The dark skies were about to be lit up.
As they began heading into the building-crowded areas, so began an intense fire fight. Luckily, the two pronged assault caught them off guard, especially since one attack was coming from above.

As the firefight erupted in the town, the rebels were determined not to lose this town, despite it going against the rebel philosophy of mobility. Rebels fortified positions on the rooftops and, when they spotted the men parachuting down, they began to open fire on them with a combination of weapons including SKS Carbines, M16s, Barrett M82s, M2 Brownings, and M60s.
Meanwhile, the fighting in the city intensified. Four M198 Howitzers located in different positions around the town began to open fire on the APCs by use of coordinates provided by troops on the rooftops. 4 M60A3 tanks stood in position in a warehouse on the other side of the town, in case their help would be needed. Larger 120mm mortars were brought up to assist with the street fighting and the destruction of the APCs.

As the Ergeben fell, they took little causalties as their black armor made them near impossible to see in the night sky. At the same time, since the rebel mortar fire was being concentrated on the fleeing Rhinos which had been emptied, the Marines mostly had to deal with the rebel fighters.
The well armed and trained marines proved to be quite the match for the farmers and miners that made up much of the rebel force. The Ergeben were on an entirely different level, going beyond that of a professional soldier, having been trained from birth to kill as well as being jacked up on the best drugs the Islamajudianitian military could buy. Fighting was still intense and the close-quarters made it all the more bloody but that's what the Islamjudianitians were trained for.
Tarek led a group of marines into a building with some light artillery on the roof. Mortar fire wised up though, now redirected to the outer region of the town where most fighting was taking place. They entered, or were thrown in, just in time before a shell landed behind them. A few rebels occupied the building and caught them by surprise, wounding a marine before Tarek and the others returned fire killing a few. Knowing that there were still more above, Tarek quickly told his men to go up against the walls and with that he and the others began unleashing a torrent of fire into the ceiling. After a few seconds, most of the floor above them crashed down accompanied by several dead rebels.
"Ok, let's go!" he said, leading them up the stairs, forgetting the nonexsistent second floor and heading directly to the roof. As he kicked down the door and rolled forward, he realized he wasn't being fired on. He looked up to see two Ergeben sitting among the bodies of several rebels.
"We were waiting for quite the time," said one of them before getting up. Tarek was partly impressed but also very pissed. "Now let's get moving, we've got a town to take."
2 days later, after another 2 battalions of Marine reinforcement and the addition of heavy air support, the town was taken, not without causalties. Although a huge percent of the rebel force had been anihilated, more than 60 Marines and Ergeben were lost and wounded during the battle.

STT-4 had not been run into by opposing forces. The transponders continued sending out their messages again and again.
Caden’s position had fallen quiet. The injured had been stabilized, and no opposing forces had come close enough to engage.
At Niels’ position, the burned man had fallen into and out of conscious. They had done everything they could for him, but alas, when awake he was in much pain. Niels had taken off his undershirt and stuffed wrapped it around the man’s mouth to quiet him, and opened up the holy text to share with the wounded some ancient wisdom.
When the helicopters came, they failed to realize that all of the dead in the both helicopters needed to be cut out, so another helicopter would arrive later to do so. For Caden and his men, rescue came swiftly. The wounded were loaded first, and then the ones able to walk were put in last. The V-22s were roomy enough to handle the wounded, and then they flew to the second crash site where they did the same. The flight back to Marsh territory was uneventful.

The last Burlovian missile strike ended, causing more grief. The Manticores yet again responded. After then, however, both sides disengaged. The battle between Pro-Patrian forces and Burlovians was not over, but the Hitlions were secured. In the following weeks, recovery efforts continued while Marsh government and church officials started turning the area that had been captured into a full-fledged province with the capital in the town of Effersi, 125,000 people, seven miles from the border on the western half of the nation. The Hitlions started the process of being turned into the Hitlion line for future use against the Vile Lard. The mission had been accomplished, though thanks to Red Tide the cost was higher than it needed to be.
