Joint Military Base (JMB) Flanders, Honako, Greater Honako:

Successive Vetakan Governments and now the Tribal Council had always followed the “Strategic Imperialism” doctrine in regards to Empires and Colonies. The Doctrine was simply that Vetaka would maintain Military Bases and Tactical Force in Military Fortifications at various points around the world. Whilst Vetaka did have colonial holdings around the world they where not particularly large and Vetakans hadn’t conquered them they had acquired them through various campaigns that Vetaka had been apart of.

Vetakan Interests and Policy was promoted and protected by a mixture of Diplomacy and Strategic Force that was tactically applied to the situation at hand. One of the largest of Vetaka’s Overseas permanent deployments was at Flanders Military Base in Honako until recently the Vetakan Defence Force maintained a total of 15,000 Personnel and a Naval Fleet of 65 Vessels one of which was a massive Nexus Class Hyper Carrier. However with Vetaka pursuing a much more bolder Foreign Policy in regards to Abolishing International Slavery in particularly the Doomani and stabilising the growing instability in Global Politics following the descent into cold war with the formation of the APOC Bloc. Vetaka and Wagdog had behind close doors been negotiating with the Honakon Administration to substantially enlarge Flanders Military Base so that Vetaka and Wagdog could not only promote and protect their interests but provide greater security to Honako in the frozen hostile times that had descended on the world.

As a result with the deal now reached and secured between the various parties the VDF Logistical Engineers Regiment along with elements of the Wagdogian Military Engineers had joined Contracted Honakon Construction and Engineering Firms to under take the massive plan. However the Enlargement had fired up a usually peaceful and pacifist Honako Population whom where fearful of having such substantial military force on their doorstep. As a result whilst the Flanders Commanders where initially reluctant to deploy forces to protect the men building they had been forced to when the protests proceeded to stone them. Hopefully the various benefit’s the base was bringing along with the peaceful means of the Vetakans would pacify them into accepting and working with the Vetakans…………

Base Expansions both Home and in Honako.
Defensive Buildup Underway, but to What Ends?

Today, the government confirmed that in addition to National Guard Corps of Engineers personnel being present in Honako working on the expansion of the Flanders base, work was also proceeding on expansion of certain key facilities in Wagdog itself. These were officially characterized by the spokesman, Field Marshal Ernesto Galver of Sixth Army Group, as being not merely "Expansions upon existing defensive capabilities and stocks," but also "Expansion of those capabilities into dimensions previously unexplored; for the greater ability to defend national or allied territory and interests within our region." The protests were dismissed as "an understandable response and fair when undertaken within the scope of Hoen and Vetakan laws, but alas unjustified response to what is merely a measure taken to improve the collective sercurity situation of all our nations; Honako, Vetaka, Wagdog and many others," according to Marshal Galver's staff.

While no further comment was forthcoming from the Department of Defense on the exact characteristics of the fortifications, we were able to confirm that the principle components were indeed as described by Marshal Galver. Installation of further theater-range antishipping missile silos across Wagdog is confirmed as underway, and apparently also being considered for completion as part of the projected Wagdian contribution to the Flanders' expansion; pending discussion with the Hoen authorities about said installation. We also have reports that some sort of surface-to-air system of comparable capability to the antiship defenses in question is also among the installations being made; though all requests for official comment or confirmation of this were summarily rejected, on grounds of national security.

Though some have questioned the need or prudence of undertaking these measures at this time, others claim that with the growing volatility of the APOC/NATO Cold War as well as regional instability within Nova these investments are a must to defend Wagdian interests and safety. In any case, the installations proceed and it is apparent some use by our forces will eventually be found for the controversial Flanders facility; even if (most likely) as guests of or adjuncts to the preexisting Vetakan commitment.
