Aleos

For the past few hundred years the Peacekeepers held themselves away from the matters of the world, away from the turmoil and unrest of empires, republics and kingdoms. The only contact they had with the outer world was the one generated by the raiding parties dispatched to the open sea, piracy a constant practice for many years amongst their ranks before the laws forbid it, and the stories brought home by the sailors aboard the fishing vessels that provided much of the meat needed for survival. Without a doubt, the fact that the country was poor in resources contributed in this isolation, for the larger empires of the world found no interest in acquiring its lands.
But like all things in this world, change came upon Aleos. Mineral deposits discovered in the underground and oil near the shores. The once poor country was now blessed with an seemingly unending flow of resources and many sought to take advantage of that. Official relations were established with the rest of the nations in Gholgoth and soon the Peacekeepers found a place in the brotherhood, new fertile lands acquired and the strain placed on the dwindling supply of food reduced. Many considered it a golden age for the country. An age that came abruptly to an end with the succession war, a war that changed much of the views they held about the outer world.
After the war, isolation was once more the staple policy of the Peacekeepers, many, if not all contacts with countries outside Gholgoth severed once more. Yet as time went by, the Aleosites ventured forward again. This is why the second ranking official in Aleos, SiC Ada, found herself on board the PNF Ikarus, one of the many carriers in the Aleosite fleet. Although many would associate the image of a ship of war such as the carrier with conflict, this was not the mission of the ship for this day. It was standard protocol for all high ranking Aleosite officials to embark a ship of war when travelling outside the waters of Aleos.
The space on the Ikarus was somewhat limited, as it is often the case with ships designed with conflict on mind, not many affording the luxury of a sauna onboard their vessels at the expense of other, critical systems, so there was little room for Commander Ada and her relatively small staff. However, she made no complaints about it, as a former commander in the navy, she knew only too well that space was limited and there was little tact in asking for more from the already crowded crew. There had been little fuss made about her departure from Aleos, and she had no intention about raising one now as the ship reached its intended destination.
As the docking procedures went without a hitch, Ada made her way towards the already waiting plane, a few brief salutations being exchanged with the Aequatian commanders that were responsible for the Havenic colony. The carrier and her escorts were to loiter a bit more in the Aequation harbours before departing yet again once Ada’s mission was to be completed.
Normally, such a visit involved delivering the dignitary with a helicopter from the carrier, but for this visit a low profile had to be kept due to various circumstances regarding both Aleos and the visited nation. On the plane that flew towards Barkozy the SiC reviewed her files on her soon to be hosts, the distance between the Aerquatian colony and its neighbours was not at all that great and soon the Barkozy mainland came to view. Although not advertised or announced to many aside from the two countries involved, this was certainly going to be an interesting visit.
