Recently today the Grand Navy of the Republic announced that a purchase of a new grade of fighter to replace the aging XF-200 Super Starfighter was finalized. The XF-200 has a long history as serving the primary fighter role for all Galactic Fleets. From the Exodus of Nova Kretani against the Galactic Empire, to recent conflicts along the border, the Military and Strategic value of the star fighter has been proven time and again with countless victories and stalemates.
Unfortunately, times change. Technology across the galaxy has lept far beyond the Grand Navy of the Republic, outdoing and outmatching it twenty to one. While the Galactic Republic intends to upgrade the rest of its armada, Admirals from high up have chosen to start from the ground, then start with a solid foundation. However, as with many choices, several Commanding Officers of the Fleet have expressed concern over this new deal.
One of them is Admiral Greg Paladin of the Second Fleet, having been promoted several months ago. His expressed concerns deal with the cost value and the trading of technology and currency with a Star Empire that has not one single relevant contact with the Republic itself. This concern was later levitated by the Chief President Himself.
"We cannot allow ourselves to hate someone else just because they keep quiet to us," stated Chief President Drakomis Reign in a public interview today. "This deal with enhance our relations with the Federal Union and allow us to open the barriers of restricted trade for far more glorious things to come."
That said, we turn this broadcast over to The Fedral Union for their point of view.
