The Writer's Pub

Hello everyone,

I am Comrade Dan, the true leader of Kulikovia. My fourth year on NS is coming up or I have already met that landmark. Either way, I am honored to be a part of this online forum. I've matched wits with the best, rp'd with the greatest. Over the course of this time, I evolved on NS in several ways. My rp skills improved greatly from what they once were. More importantly, it gave me an outlet to express my imagination. My writing skills have improved over the past few years and that is where I found my niche. Posting short stories is something I find more fullfilling than taking part in rps.

Here, I am opening The Writer's Pub. At this establishment, other aspiring and hopeful writer's can post short stories that they wrote and where other writer's can come together and share their comments, criticizm, and ideas. By doing this, we can help each other and ourselves become more proefficent in our abilities. Also, we can just chat and just post things of we want.

Anyone interested can just...Well, post a link to a story they wrote, or give a summary, or ask for advice and proof reading. I am currently involved writing a story. Hopefully, this idea will spread and be welcomed.

Respectfully,
Comrade Dan

Stories I am writing:

Welcome to Nowhere: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=550109

Blue Saints: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=542651

Here are some stories that I have planned:

Suburban Punk: Mary Mercer is a disillusioned punk, forced from her home by her parents and reintroduced into Suburban life. Bitter at her new school's social-heirarchy, Mary falls in with the charasmatic Johnny and his band of misfits. As she descends into a world of punk music, anarchy, and drugs, she emerges as Mary Mayhem, bent on overturning everything that Suburbia stands for in a campaign of vandalism and destruction. With what started out as simple acting out against society, it turns into something much more serious, culminating in an unexpected climax.

Hollywood Dreams (Working Title): Max Turner left his home and traveled west to famed Hollywood to try and make it as a writer/director. Five years later and he's still busing tables at a street side diner, his hopes dashed against the rocks of reality. Desperate to crawl his out. Vince Greenberg is a washed-up director for adult movies and is hoping to make it back onto the screen in the most dramatic fashion. Alice Reynolds is an aspiring actress who can't seem to dodge the sleezy agents who promise her the moon and only want to get into her pants. After one disappointment after another, Max and Vince collaborate for thee most ambitious and controversial cinematic gamble ever: To film the greatest porn movie ever and enter it at the Academy Awards.

OOC: I perfer to write first person narratives. Usually querky, light-hearted stories are my favorite. Of course, I do like drama and mysteries. Each of us have our own niche that is our writing style.

The Exile Project (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=550117)
Sci-fi/action in which a hitman suddenly becomes ensnared in a government organisation involved in protecting the course of time itself...

The Hangers of Solace
Planned: Action-based, in which a radical terrorist organisation seals themselves and a few hundred hostages into one of the massive airship hangers cut into the mountains of Alfegos. Daniel Khan, one of the hostages, escapes being rounded up and goes on a one-man killing spree to try and discover what the terrorists want and to stop them in unleashing some of the most deadly man-made forces in existance...

I mostly prefer writing action or sci-fi novels, set in my fictional nation of Alfegos. Enjoy reading, and feel free to telegram me with any mistakes you may find!

I always tried to break into SciFi scene but I always fell short. I guess my imagination doesn't reach the stars. Your story is very action-packed and quite interesting to read. I give it a good mark. I can't wait to read The Hangers of Solace.

Planning/Drafting The Bad Machine, a story about a man working in a corpse recycling center in a dystopian future who loses touch with reality and begins recycling live people who our hero views as useless machines.

Damn!

That sounds...unique. It will be quite interesting to see how that turns out.
Third Spanish States

MT, Early PMT stories:

The Invisible Network: A long-term, introductory story I'll probably take RL years to further about a secret society which secretly and indirectly governs Third Spanish States, inspired by The Illuminatus! Trilogy which logically focuses on characters and narrative rather than on an analytical factbook-esque analysis of the organization.

Planned stories: None yet

FT/Sci-fi stories(using the forum account and NS of Solar Communes):

Baptism of Fire: FT Intro, initially intended to be a RP, but turned due to lack of interest into a single-author story of Solar Communes, not one of the best pieces I did as I wasn't much knowledgeable about realistic space warfare by then.

Planned stories:

Unforeseen Consequences: In the 2170s, The building of Moho Mines deep into the planetary crust and even to the mantle marks the leap into a Type I Civilization according to Kardashev Scale, and also brings unexpected consequences.

Third Commune: Fallout: The last days of Third Spanish States in this distant, dystopian future of the 2120s , called instead "Third Commune" and the last battles between them and the forces of the Global State.

The Eternal War: In the 22nd century, the anarchist Solar Communes, former Third Commune, meets again the totalitarian Global State in both the Alpha Centauri and Gliese 581 systems, starting again the war that began in 2090. With the limitations of a relativistic universe with scientifically realistic starships and no faster-than-light travel, the interstellar travels of space fleets and their logistics will take decades, leading to a war that will last for almost a millennium between both sides, where entire armies shall lose entire contact with their homelands, which also will have no idea of the situation in the other solar systems, or only receive transmissions from decades ago due to the speed of light lag, adding an element of uncertainty which does not exist in space opera style FT. It will signal the transition of Solar Communes to Far FT and to an interstellar but highly decentralized civilization. I'll use The Forever War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Forever_War) as primary source of inspiration, adding concepts like Future Shock and prefer a character rather than action-centered plot line where soldiers are more than just war machines.
