Operation Ensured Effectiveness (OOC:open to suggestion)

Introduction
In an effort to better train their soldiers and practice military cooperation between the militaries of NOP, several nations will be participating in a NOP wide war game.

Setting
The war game will take place on a fictional island known as Archipelago FNOPDC (Fictional New Oslo Pact Designated Class) WG-01 (Wargame 1). The island has impassible mountains on its North, East and West ensuring that the only available route of attack is from the south. Large beaches make the area perfect for amphibious landings, though this is not the only way.

OOC: Here is a map of the area. http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff216/PhotoOrbath/wargamemap.png
The crazy black lines are the mountains.

Participants
Although the war game is open for all members of NOP, only some members have signed up.

Bringing 150000 troops to battle, leaving ~37500 combat troops. Point out anything thats wrong or seems unlikely, as this is my first time preparing one of these... and also, I built this by saying that for 1 person 4 people are supporting him, so if an artillery requires a crew of 4, then 16 people are supporting them logistics-wise.

With the news of an invasion by the supposed "Alliance" forces, the "Axis of Power" had to ready defences immediately. Soldiers were scurrying about the landing zones, and SAM sites and AA guns were being readied for use. Colonels and lieutenants were barking orders at infantry, and armour was placed on standby. Communications centres were going crazy, with literally hundreds of messages being transmitted in and out per minute. PKMs were manned at the bunkers overlooking beaches, and point defence gauss guns were readied while the S-400 Triumf launchers prepared. Behind every nook and cranny was a soldier with an AK-74 or AK-47, while seven Type 425 coastal guns were being swivelled calibrated and readied. They awaited for the enemy to make the first move.

OOC: Finnally! A chance to use the plane I bought from Phoenix weeks ago.]
The Crew of the Carrier began fueling the AV-28s for combat. They would be a strike to take out some of the Costal Guns so that to clear a path for the LSDs. The Fleet continued sailing. (Full navy force split evenly between three tasks forces.) An AWACs plane was flying high above the land, surveiling the enemy forces.

14-03-2008, 02:19
Above, the aircraft was detected by ground based radar. A field commissar was deciding on whether to use a gauss gun or a Triumf by using a scale. After a moment, he chose the missile. Two missiles were locked on, and both were fired at the same time by two different AA units. One gauss gun also locked on and fired a shot.

Meanwhile, for the first time the Type 425 would see battle. All were loaded and ready, and after a while they fired upon the enemy. One of the guns exploded into pieces the moment it fired, though the shell was still sent towards its destination. Another of the guns collapsed after the crew returned to it, crushing a man to merely a small puddle of slop.

EDIT: Stok, you are teh ebil...

IC: Out on another section of the beach, the NAF were getting ready to repel a numerically stronger invasion force. The mines had already been laid and prepped, and the little 'surprise' was being armed as we speak. On the shores of the beach, barbed wire, Bunkers, Mortars, Artillery, MLRs and the Gauntlet system were being manned. Further afield lay the main body of defenders, along with more artillery and Tanks, lay in wait. Behind them were 3 main air bases where the main air defence and attack aircraft were, as well as 2 more craftily-hidden bases and small spots of land for AV-28s to operate out of. Behind that were more MLRS, TELs, GAuntlet systems and long range 'Stoklomovi' Artillery.
BraHmos Mk II missiles were being loaded, orders screamed, and engines started.

They were ready.

Lasslo nodded to his squadron officer. Red lights turned on in the back of the C-130 as the jump door was opened.

The ships of Task Force Alpha gleamed in the bright sunlight as they crashed through the waves of the sea. They were fast approaching the island.

Within the holds of the Champion Class Carrier Supremacy, the commanding officer, General Alfred Wolf and several other high ranking military brass sat around a large cherry stained table. They were having what Wolf liked to call ''battle hour.'' Rather than standing among massive screens and controls, he brought his officers into one of the diplomatic meeting rooms. They still had the information they needed, but he found it more peaceful and easier to concentrate despite the stresses of battle. It also gave him the opportunity to smoke a cigar with his fellow officers.

Their first job on a long list of tasks was to neutralize any coastal batteries and coastal anti air systems that posed a threat to the fleet. General Wolf decided first to contact his allies.

''I'm General Wolf commander of Task Force Alpha, the Orbathian side of ''the alliance'' as we've been dubbed. We are interested in working close alongside our allies... united we stand, divided we fall. Our first order of battle will be a small attack on coastal defenses to test their assets, after this we would like to conduct joint operations to neutralize certain anti shipping and anti air capabilities.''

Aircraft Deck, ONS Supremacy
The choice aircraft for the operation would be the stealthy F-40 Bird of Prey, a total of two to be exact. Each carried a total of 2 ADM-350A "Samson" Tactical Air-launched Decoys (http://www.forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13256623&postcount=200) a munition designed to fool the enemy into thinking that it was a strike aircraft. They also carried 4 AGM-136 Tacit Rainbows and 2 GBU-32 JDAM bombs as well as 2 medium ranged and two long ranged air to air missiles.

The aircraft were quickly catapulted off the deck and into the blue sky. Their first angle of approach was designed to allow them to release their decoys. on a slightly different course and at much different altitude. They were currently at 60,000 feet and over 250 kilometers out.

''Command, this is Fox One, requesting permission to begin mission over.''

''Fox One you are fully cleared, good luck, out.''

With that. both aircraft opened their weapons bays and released their decoys, a total of four between them both. With the decoys heading in the right direction, they began a smooth change of course and altitude, bringing themselves below radar level and putting them in a direct path with their target, instead of slightly of course like their decoy counterparts.

Not long after, the aircraft came in range of their second weapons, the radar seeking Tacit Rainbows. Each aircraft launched its payload, 8 drones in all. The last order was to get up close and personal with two coastal guns situated on a large hill.

"Airborne hostiles detected, sir!"

"Knock them down with flak."

"Right sir!"

Flak guns roared to life as infantry quickly turned the handles to match up with the aircraft above. One by one, each began firing 88mm flak shells at the enemy craft. In the rear, S-400 Triumfs readied for launch, and gauss guns were calibrated towards the enemy. Orders were relayed to coastal guns to sink into the ground to reload.

Slowly, one by one the turntables began descending into the ground, and a massive steel cover plate began sliding into position. Moments before sinking, each gun fired one more nuclear barrage at the enemy ships and then descended. On the ground, infantry used Iglas and attempted shooting down the craft. Using infrared imaging, heat signatures were picked up from every craft, and missiles locked onto their targets. The Iglas were fired.

Johan's feet pushed him out into open space. He was falling down, plummeting to earth and quickly approaching terminal velocity. His parachute was rigged with an automatic release mechanism that would deploy at proper altitude. He turn his head against the force of the air rushing past him and looked back at the now quickly diminishing plane. One, two, three, he counted as the other members of the fire team dropped from the C-130.

The ground was quickly coming into a better resolution. He could see the LZ that the team had been briefed on a few hours before. It was impossible to tell at this heigh, but surveillance patrols had reported that the area had no enemy activity in it.

Off the Coast

The pilots thought they were lucky at first, as flak cannons began to take the bait and fire at the previously launched decoys. Plumes of flak exploded firstly around them, then they began to dive and swirl like they had been programmed to. It didn't take long for the flak to create a massive wall and soon the decoys crashed through it, ripped apart in the thick black clouds.

The pilots thought they were safe. Then they saw massive shells soaring through the air and their targets descending into the ground. It would have been a waste to not at least try, so they fired their GPS guided JDAM bombs in hope of at least doing damage. Then an alarm blared in the cockpit.

''Command this is Fox 1, someone is painting us, taking evasive action, over.''

Both aircraft banked sharply left and began to turn around as they did this, the alarm changed slightly, a lock had now been made. They deployed flares and waited.

Without warning, a missile entered Fox Two's engine, exploded and turned the once proud aircraft into a blazing ball of fire, the wreckage crashing into the ocean.

Fox One deployed more chaff and got out of there, not wanting to end up like his counterpart.

ONS Supremacy
By now, the General and his brass had relocated to the proper situation room. From there they could see in real time, what was going on and if need be, communicate with the pilots.

He'd baited the waters and gotten sharks, part of his plan. He needed to know capabilities before he decided on a major offensive. He was torn between whether to launch a large scale strike on both AA and coastal guns or focus on one or the other. He decided that with the use of his decoys, and some long range, heavy munitions, he might be able to take out the coastal guns without risking a large number of aircraft.

He poured over satellite photos. One of the most noticeable features was the massive, awe inspiring guns. Guns that could rip his fleet to shreds if he didn't deal with them first. He decided to attack both, sort of. He knew the guns themselves were protected, so why not attack both the gun and the protection.

Carrier Deck
This time, six F-40 Bird of Prey aircraft were loaded up and fueled up with a slightly different mission. As they took off into the sky, each knew their role.

Two F-40 aircraft remained at the same altitude the first wave of aircraft had been at. Once again at 250 km out, they launched the decoys, eight between them both, now giving the impression that ten aircraft were in the air. The two F-40 craft readied their second payload, a group of Tacit Rainbows and fired, the munitions streaking towards land, seeking out any target with radar.

The remaining four aircraft chose to keep to a high altitude, nearly 65,000 feet, hoping to avoid any infantry launched missiles. They carried their own decoys, heavy bombs and HARMs. The hope was that they wouldn't be discovered.

At the same time the first two aircraft launched their decoys, these four aircraft did the same, four each, for a total of 16. Then they waited.

Model: S-300PMU-2. Surface-to-air missile. Year: 1997. Country: Russia. Popular Name: Favorit. Launch System: S-300PMU-2. Missile: 48N6E2.

Version of the S-300 system for export using the advanced 48N6E2 missile, capable of shooting down tactical ballistic missiles.

In 1995 MKB Fakel developed a new 48N6E2 missile for the S-300PMU system, the Favorit. This had a capability against medium range ballistic missiles, incorporating lessons learened from Scud attacks on Israel and Saudi Arabia during the 1991 Gulf War. In that war the surface-to-air missiles would successfully intercept the incoming rockets but the incoming warheads would still get through. Favorit was tested against a series of Scud launches at Kapustin Yar and succeeded in destroying every warhead. As with other modern Russian surface-to-air missiles, the Favorit is launched verticallly, and only in the air after clearing the launcher does it pitch over in the direction of the target. This technique proved of great interest to other surface-to-air missile developers, notably France.

The S-300PMU-2 Favorit modification of the system was first shown in August 1997 at the MAKS-97 air show in Moscow.

Also, Stok, I do believe you mentioned hand cranked flak guns? Sorta like the 88mm. Anything that has to be aimed by a crank is too slow, you'll want to use radar guided flak.

The Alarm sounded in the cockpit. The Pilot began sweating. He deployed flares and banked the plane.

Some of the ships got ready to launch missles to take out vairous Anti-air positions to make way for the Air Assault. Three ships launched four missles each.

A Shell from the Coast hit a Corvette. Minor damage was the effect, as was the loss of four personal.

[OOC: Nuclear shells, mind you. As in Nagasaki nuclear. I'll change the hand cranks to radar then, Yanis.]

"Evacuate!"

One of the underground nuclear gun holding chambers was quickly evacuated as the top cover began slicing through to shut and avoid suffering damage from nuclear shells exploding beneath. The cannon was nearly all the way down, and the door clipped off a section of the gun and the cannon tipped a bit. It was quickly stabilised by the locks in the rail. The bombs smashed one door to pieces as the other one was scorched. The doors of the mostly unaffected gun started closing much more rapidly as the gun was lowered into position. At the other gun bay, one bomb landed in the shell bay undetonated, though the nuclear shells were remotely disabled before the bomb exploded. The explosives still fired, and a magnificent explosion ploughed through the air from twenty metres below the surface. The gun itself self-detonated, sending pieces through the firing hole sticking through the dirt and through the open hole. The other gun was not affected.

Radar all across the coast was sounding insanely, as enemy aircraft poured through the only opening at the coast. S-400 Triumf missiles were being locked and launched, while gauss guns along the shore were calibrating to the height of enemy cruise missiles. Deeper into the shore, gauss guns were aiming at high flying planes and were launching hypersonic "spikes" into the air. Some flak guns were hand-cranked as they were connecting to the main Battle net, while others began coming on-line and were automatically calibrating and firing. Soldiers on the ground, knowing that the aircraft was too high due to meagre infrared signatures, dropped their Iglas and ran towards armouries to find high-power laser pointers to paint targets with.

Along the coast, reconnaissance was scanning the horizon for enemy ships while the guns were relatively protected by layers of doors. They pointed out the firing windows, calibrated themselves, and blasted another wave of shells towards the sea.

"Roger, Beta detatchment will be linking up with you ETA 1 minute."

"Affirmative. We see them now. Well, Best of luck to me. Give my best wishes to your wife."

"Will do, Stretch."

The Lead Pilot of the small group of Tu-160s sat back into his seat, sighing with anxiety. They were to attempt a probing attack on the Aissurian Fleet, to gauge their defences as well as sink a few ships. The 5 Blackjacks flew in a delta formation, and 6 Su-37s flew escort, ready to drop tanks and get down and dirty.

There they are

The Aissurian fleet were steaming towards Stoklomovian lines, in Preparation for an assault.

"Base Alpha Command, this is Alpha Charlie. Hostiles are engaging ally. Request permission to go live."

"Roger, permission received. Your Targets are the carriers. Over and Out."

The flotilla of planes dropped down to 500 Metres, before going Supersonic.
Each of the Blackjacks armed all of their Raduga Kh-55, before each locking it on one Carrier. The two extras locked out to Air Defence ships, and the Sukhois armed their AAMs.

"Group! Fire All!"

30 Kh-55 Missiles cruised towards the fleet, only leading to total destruction.
The Blackjacks performed a Immelman, Before going to full burn and climbing to height. The Sukhois stayed to cover their escape.

The alarm began to ring out and pilots rushed to their planes. The AV-28 circling the fleet quickly turned to meet the oncoming threat. Two groups (totaling 6 planes.) flew towards the group of bombers.

"Beta One, bombers leaving range, proceed to engage Fighter escort. Expect 6 fighters." Said a voice over the radio as the pilot leveled off. He accelerated to get revenge for the coming destruction. He just hoped he would have a carrier to land at.

"This is Beta One, prepare to engage fighter escort. Numbers are even. Lets see if those pilots have the guts to enage us." He said. He was scared though. They were flying a plane made by a foriegn country. He prefered the Soviet made Aircraft.

Morpho 1 fire team's mission was to drop in behind the enemy and make their way to the coast. From there they were to establish an observation position and relay information on the enemy artillery and troop placements.

As Johan shrugged off his jump pack his eyes scanned the terrain, 'nothing,' he thought to himself. With his pack off Johan armed and readied his machine gun. In the distance the sound of rolling thunder signaled that the assault had begun.

Radar imaging was detecting heavy air skirmishing in the distance. S-400 Triumfs were calibrated and launched at enemy aircraft.

An armoured car rumbled across the plain, infrared imaging picking up heat signatures originating from behind a large hedge. An SMPF man inside the car prodded the half dozing Imperial Guardsmen and manned a gun port. The Guardsmen shifted in the car and soon afterwards the main gun was operational.

Four Les Enfants Perdus soldiers silently watched the Boothbians as the Stoklomolvi Imperial Guardsmen drew closer. The sniper of the group used his silenced rifle, took aim at the bushes. He then silently pulled the bolt back on his rifle, aimed at the Boothbian carrying a sniper rifle.

The crosshairs enlarged the man back, and he carefully placed them over his heart...

There was a silent "put" as the bullet ripped from the gun towards the Morpho team. The leader clicked his comm unit twice, and somewhere, a km away, a Mi-24 roared to life, before flying low and fast to intercept the armoured car, and allow the Boothbians to escape.

Johan scanned the direction from which the fire had come from. His MG4 roared to life sending 900 rounds per minute into the heather. Under the suppressing fire, the medical sergeant crawled to Hellman and applied pressure to the entry wound.

Blood was pooling in the sniper's mouth and his chest convulsed as he struggled to breath under his collapsing lung. The medical sergeant grabbed Hellman by the straps of his jump pack and retreated.

His head pounded with the reverberation of the explosion. Everything was muted now. Johan turned and crawled back away from the attackers, abandoning his heavy weapon.

The medical sergeant had pulled Hellman behind a stand of trees. He worked quickly as hell raged on some 20 meters away. He ripped open Hallman's operations suit and applied a compression dressing. Carl Lasslo, communications sergeant, dashed behind the cover and started reporting into his radio.

As the men reached the bank they waded in. The water was cold, but the current was strong and would carry the men quickly.

Back in the field Johan's vision was starting to blur. His body had started to shake and it was getting harder to crawl forward. A noxious smoke swirled around him filling his lungs. Smoke filled the entire helicopter as the pilot fought hard to right his vehicle, before it crashed into something. Finally he decided that the Hind wouldn't last much longer, and brough it down on the bank of the river, a bit down stream.

The Mi-24 ploughed into the soft mud, and the weapons systems officer immediately smashed his head. The pilot was badly injured, and it was left to the technician to drag him out of the vehicle and towards the rive.

The LEP soldiers watched silently as Stoklomolvi tanks approached the former Boothbian position, before sliding down into their holes. They radioed in to their command that a squad of Boothbians had paradropped near their position, and that they had neutralized the sniper of the group. The squad leader then reported that the Stoklomoli Imperial Guards had taken out the helicopter, probably by targeting it with the radar post.

Farther back, the LEP commander ordered a relay sent to the "alliance" ships, via radio the order was sent to a radio operator near the coast, who then spammed the coordinates of the radar station on every channel for five minutes, hoping that they would take their information and send a couple cruise missiles for "inspection".

Rivers were soon seen as a threat to security due to the fact that they provided an extra front and began being either filled up with dirt or drained. The river carried the men quickly down stream and they watched as the burning fields disappeared from sight. Everything seemed quiet now as the men bobbed in the water.

The squad officer knew that the rush of the water was not doing Hellman any good. As so when the rumble of tanks had dissipated he ordered the squad out on the far bank. as the men swam to make their escape the drone of a chopper could be heard fast approaching.

The men ducked their heads under water to avoid detection. The squad officer surfaced just in time to see the damaged Yanitarian helicopter heading down stream.

The men crawled from the water and moved on, deeper and deeper into the forest that populated the far side of the river. A perimeter was established, claymores, c4, and booby traps guarded them on three sides.

Hellman's cold body lay under a tree, his skin was pale and lifeless. The men had divided his weapons and remaining munitions between themselves.

Coast
The large amount of munitions pouring towards the aircraft rapidly changed the mission. No longer would they attempt to get in close and personal, they rapidly turned. They deployed chaff and shot back towards the carrier, hoping that the enemy would focus their fire on the decoys which continued to head inland.

ONS Supremacy
Stealthy surgical strikes were almost always preferred over missile spam. This time, it appeared that surgical strikes weren't going to work. The coastal guns themselves were to well defended for a special forces type operation and the coast was heavily defended by flak guns and missile batteries. A very, very small dent had been made, but it wasn't enough.

Task Force Alpha
Target data was relayed to the Arsenal Class missile cruisers of the Task Force, with 52 of them, each having 576 cells each, they had the capability of launching nearly 30,000 missiles all at the same time. Of course, the missile load out wouldn't allow that many, since different types were used but since the enemy had no navy, the lack of anti shipping missiles meant an abundance of land attack munitions. Though nearly 30,000 missiles would be a crippling blow, it was simply too many, a massive waste and would not allow for strikes later on in the operation.

The first target or rather targets would be the remaining 6 operational coastal guns and their defenses. At the same time, the gauss cannons, and SAM batteries would be secondary targets, though attacked at the same time.

After a few minutes, the VLS tubes flashed and the smoke poured out as missiles left their tubes on numerous ships. For each coastal gun, 25 missiles were pointed at it and 25 more at its various defenses. The cannons and SAM batteries were each spammed with 10 missiles each. It was hoped that even if they didn't knock out the defenses, they would weaken them
Stoklomolvi

"Sir! They're launching cruise missiles!"

"At least now the defences will serve their purposes. Keep them firing."

"Yes sir!"

Gauss guns across the shore calculated distances and fired many shells at the cruise missiles in hopes that none would break through. SAM sites began firing a number of missiles at each cruise missile. At the shore guns, the barrels retracted and the firing windows were shut the moment one last barrage was fired. The guns were lowered further, and even more blast doors shut across the top. Within, infantry were scurrying about, and alarms were blaring. The intricate trench systems enabled for infantry to peer out of the cliff face and shoot at anyone unfortunate enough to wander within the arc of fire of the small bunker protrusions out of the cliff.

Meanwhile, a number of aircraft appeared to retreat, while another number of aircraft continued inland. It seemed that the advancing craft were being destroyed, though the fleeing aircraft seemed to have pilots while the others did not. Targets were switched by gauss and flak guns, and the fleeing aircraft were shot at while the other aircraft descended in a straight line deep into Stoklomolvi territory.

A small squad of flame-thrower infantry were wandering about near the Norsikian tank, burning everything in sight.

Johan stared up blankly at the Stoklomolvi soldier. He could see the man's mouth moving, but no sound was audible. With his remaining strength he pulled the mask from his face and continued to stare icily at the enemy.

In the forest the depleted squad had picked up the the helo technician as he carried what looked like the pilot. The medic scanned the area for reinforcements as the other four trained their weapons on the pair. As the two got closer the engineering sergeant picked up the detonator to one of the claymores.

As the enemy pulled his mask off, the soldier was startled and unloaded the entire clip of his AK-47 into the man's chest and head at point blank range.

The two Imperial Guardsmen who were shovelling in the river quickly took cover behind the river bank and opened fire on the hostiles.

Johan saw the flash but felt no pain. He died in the charred grass, his body ripped and mutilated by the fiery of Stoklomolvi steel. In the moment of his death he was assured that his spirit would by divine providence ascend to the House of the Authority, where he would feast with his father and forefathers.

In the forest the medical sergeant spotted the flash from the soldiers by the river. The engineer plunged the detonator of a claymore aimed at the Yanitarian flight crew. Two of the squad members opened fire on the Yanitarians, while the others returned fire on the river.

The decoys were shot down, one by one, empty shells smashing onto the ground below. The fleeing aircraft attempted to evade the enemies munitions, two were unsuccessful and plunged into the ocean below.

The cruise missile fire halted. The ships waited in hopes that engineers would gather and attempt to repair damages.

Once again, plumes of smoke appeared in the sky and more cruise missile poured from the VLS tubes and flew towards the enemy. This time the number of missiles was doubled.

The cruise missiles were largely ineffective. However, a number of bunkers were completely obliterated, and another number of gauss guns were destroyed in their entirety. In their wake was literally molten earth. With the next wave of missiles, all fire was directed at the missiles. Even infantry started firing on the missiles using small arms. Engineers waited for the wave to end before heading out for repairs. Gauss guns and SAM sites opened fire on every missile spotted.

At the river site, bullets impacted in the earth all around the two men. They kept firing.

Once again, Command had ordered an all-out strike on the enemy, this time against the Orbathian navy, hoping to buy some time for Stoklomovi.
Ten Tu-22Ms, each carrying 8 Brahmos A Mk.II HASMs. They were escorted with 12 Su-37s, loaded with Both Heat-seeking and Radar Guided AAMs.
Once again, the Fleet flew at full burn below RADAR, in order to achieve the maximum amount of surprise. The plan was for 16 Brahmos wo impact the Supercarrier, 8 at the waterline and 8 onto the flight deck, while 2 Missiles each would be targeted onto the wasp classes, 1 on waterline, one on Deck, specifically the catapult array. The remaining 12 Missiles would split into groups of two, one for each of the Arsenal class Cruisers, one hitting waterline, another aiming for the VLS array.

He then shifted his view to a clearly Norsikian tank, and noticed that the men in Norsikian uniforms had their hands raised. He calculated some distances in his head, compensated for bullet drop and fired at one of the Yanitarians. He shifted his aim and fired again, this time at a different one.

Meanwhile, near the tank itself, the crew of flame-thrower infantry had neared the tank to the point that they could see the crew. Upon noticing the crew of the tank surrendering, the lead man fired his flame-thrower high into the air while the rest dropped and fired their AK-74s at the location in general.

Back at the riverbank, the Imperial Guardsmen continued to fire at the Boothbians. One of them pulled out a stick grenade and tossed it as hard as he could as the Boothbians. He then continued firing as the PMG began opening up its fire. The two men ducked behind the bank, and started tossing grenades over their heads and sticking their hands and guns out of the top and shooting without aiming.

The area was just too hot to handle. Fire came in from the river bank spraying the communications sergeant in the arm and radio.

"Fucking get us out of here!" he yelled rolling behind heavier cover.

Obviously their Yanitarian SMG's were no match for the Stoklomolvi AK's. The squad officer patted himself down looking for a spare smoke grenade. He had none so he yelled out to his squad to cover.

Soon a thick wall of yellow smoke had filled the forest. The men ran silently through the trees. As they moved deeper into the forest the remaining explosives were detonated ensuring any followers would be vaporized.

With their radio destroyed, weapons specialists KIA, and not response from allied command the only thing to due was head deeper into the wilderness. Being a small unit the men would allude the enemy and live off the land. Once they had gotten their bearings they could consider pursuing their primary objective, although they would have to commandeer a radio to relay enemy positions back to allied command.

"How many divisions at Beaches A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, K, L, M, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z, lieutenant?"

"Two. One infantry, one armour."

"Where's the other one?"

"They're cleaning up. Only half of them are there."

"Then where's the rest of them?!"

"On their way. Should be there soon enough."

Cargo trucks and half tracks rumbled through the field as the air filled with musty smoke and dirt was sent through the air. Half of the 501st Infantry Division was en route to the beach; only half of them had actually reached the area, and those men were lighting things on fire and shovelling in rivers. As the cargo trucks ran through, two of them stopped on the side and a number of Guardsmen poured out. They pulled out flame-throwers and began burning forests and houses. A team of specialists donned flame retardant suits and walked into the forest and placed nitroglycerin vials in small wooden boxes, where within the box the supports would burn away and the nitroglycerin would explode. They quickly ran away. Meanwhile, the fire was spreading rapidly, and the Guardsmen jumped back onto the cargo trucks and drove off. Luckily for the Boothbians, if they would survive this there would be no resistance for there on in. However, there would still be the occasional patrol from the shore, as well as the occasional AA emplacement, but those were few and far in between.

Though under the radar of the ships, they were not under the radar of the E-3 AWACS aircraft which detected them, relayed information back to the fleet and allowed them to scramble fighters.

From the carrier deck, 12 F/A 16 Priest aircraft took to the sky and from the decks of several of the Wasp classes, F/A-16 Priests also took to the sky for a total of 22. Each had a full air to air load out, ready to intercept the missiles. Once fired, they employed what they had, short and long range air to air missiles to take out the approaching targets, acting as the first line of defense. Still, missiles streaked passed the aircraft and from the ships, missiles took flight and began intercepting their targets. CIWS roared to life, spitting their fire at the missiles that made it past the first two lines of defense. Of course, no defense is fool proof and although the carrier was protected, one Wasp Class took a hit near the waterline and two Arsenal Classes were hit, one just behind the VLS tubes, damaging several and another at the waterline. Luckily the damage was repairable though likely not in theater.

The top brass had been waiting for another satellite pass to give them intel on how effective their bombings and cruise missiles strikes had been. Most of them cursed the effort, it appeared a couple Stoklomolvi bunkers and gauss guns had been destroyed. Their moods perked up when they got news of what the missiles had done to the Norskians. A gauntlet unit and 3 MLRS units had been hit. It seemed it was time to change tactics a bit.

Task Force Alpha
VLS tubes on the Arsenal Classes came alive as missiles began pouring out, this time destined for primarily Norskian targets. Over 250 Cruise missiles began soaring, the first targets being radar stations and SAM and anti air sites. Perhaps it was because the Stoklomolvi defenses were proving hard to exploit or perhaps it was revenge, either way, the Norskians would feel it.

So far, the defences were proving to be a worthwhile investment. However, a new wave of missiles was detected, and field commissars were feeling panicked. The gauss guns were running low on ammunition, and morale was beginning to take a dip. Should there be another wave after this one, the defences would surely be doomed. Ammunition trucks were another ten minutes away; it was hoped that these defences would be able to hold out.

The missiles heading for the Stoklomolvi defences were quickly fired upon before fire was focused on those targeting the Norsikians. Should the Norsikian defences fall, then there would be a very large danger of a flanking manoeuvre.

Will reply after one thing is cleared up.

The Stoklomolvi AK's were making short work of the trees the HOB soldier took cover behind. Splinter exploded all around them, scratching their necks and faces.

The squad officer ordered suppressing fire on the river while he took up Hellman's PMG. He flipped open the sight cap and levels it on the river bank. Without taking his eyes from the sight the officer barked out an order to as to the status of the Yanitarian flight crew.

The engineering sergeant replied that the smoke was still clearing from the claymore, as he continued to discharge his submachine gun in their direction.

The Yanitarians were instantly killed by the claymore, and bits of blood and guts were sprayed all over the ground.

A lone sniper sat on a hill with an SVD far from the shooting, watching as Boothbians fought against Yanitarians and Stoklomolvi infantry. He then shifted his view to a clearly Norsikian tank, and noticed that the men in Norsikian uniforms had their hands raised. OOC: Stok, my men are the best trained soldiers in Yanitaria, which already has so pretty intense training. There is no way that they wouldn't have spotted a squad of troops approaching them in time to get into range with AKs and a flame thrower unless they came from behind the tank, in which case they couldn't have seen the surrendering Norsikians. Granted they would definitely be able to see the tank and come to investigate, but it'd take them at least a moment to get close enough to realize that the tankers have their hands up. The LEP soldiers on the other hand just need to see the squad coming in order to react.

"Achtung! Alert! Code 9! Code 9!"

That message reverbated throughout the Norsikian Emplacements.

Code 9. Massive missile barrage.

On the shore, Soldiers scrambled to underground shelters while Anti-sea missile carrying Gauntlets retracted to the safety of 3 metres of advanced armor plate. MLRS and TEL systems were put on automatic control as their crews hid in bunkers, and CIWS radar swept the sky and barrels spun.

From base Alpha, Beta and Charlie, MIG-31s, loaded with special Fragmentation missiles, took to the air. Gantlet systems armed more missiles, and CIWS waited.

In range.

Instantly, fire that dwarved any other erupted from the beach. MIGs spammed their missiles at the cloud of death. The beach was covered with smoke and glass as MLRS and Gauntlet Fired volley after volley of SAMs. CIWS Craned to impossible angles to keep their fire onto the Missile cloud.
No system was perfect. But the Norsikian tried their best.

Orbathian missiles slammed onto the beach, tossing Concrete, Steel, Flesh and bone everywhere. One unluckey soldat had his stomach burt put after being hit by another's Skull. Fuel tanks exploded, taking vital military equipment with them. Thankfully, human casualties were kept to a minimum.

The sugical strike against the defences somewhat achived their goal, but the Battlenet was instantly rerouted to secondary transceivers, keeping the beach connected to the main force.

OOC: Oh, alright, I must have missed that, sorry.

IC:

The bullet from the SVD struck the tank commander in the head, and went straight through, while the other bullet caught a LEP solder in the helmet, knocking his head back really hard.

Noticing that the flame thrower squad was so close, the squad immediately leapt back into the ditch, spacing themselves while the squad leader fired a burst into each Norsikian. Then as the firing started, he jumped back into the ditch, and the Yanitarians each started aiming solely for the Stoklomolvi soldier carrying the flame thrower.

Their excellent training had taught them that flamethrowers were a thing of the past. A relic that easily exploded.

The only deviant was the sniper of the group, how took a shot at the center of the flame thrower soldier's mass, for before leaning back into the ditch to scan for the Stoklomolvi sniper.

The Stoklomolvi Guardsmen below, hearing the bullet ricochets, jumped up and twisted as many stick grenades as they could while throwing them with their free hands. Satellite images continued coming in, showing the extent of the damage done to the defenses. One interesting thing to note was several convoys of trucks approaching on various roads leading to the gauss guns. It was assumed that they were either resupply trucks or were carrying soldiers to defend the guns, both valuable targets.

The launch tubes of the Arsenal Classes let rip with two waves, one right after the other, consisting of roughly 250 missiles each, destined for Norskian and Stoklomolvi defenses but also the convoys and the roads themselves.
****************************************
As the enemy Su-37s approached, they were detected by the AWACS aircraft and by the other fighter's radar. Having exhausted a large portion of their payload, the radioed to the carrier to have additional aircraft take to the skies. They wouldn't sit and wait idly by though. 10 F/A-16 Priests shot towards the approaching targets while the remaining 12 defended the AWACS. As they approached, they AWACS fed them data, allowing them to leave their own radars turned off.

"Incoming wave, sir!"

"Those little- keep the gauss guns firing."

"We will only be able to take out 750 missiles at the maximum."

"Maximum? You mean-"

"Yes sir, if over 80% hit."

"Damn!"

Gauss guns roared to life as the cruise missiles flew in once more. To the Guardsmen's surprise, the cruise missiles that survived did not stop at the defences; they kept going. Morale dropped as the cruise missiles' destinations were realised.

"They're going to blow up our convoys!"

The convoy trucks began to swerve off the roads and drove into dirt, grass, and anything that remotely provided cover. Cruise missile after cruise missile broke through the defence, and in total 35 cruise missiles landed. Roads were torn up, and 14 convoy trucks were obliterated. Aboard 9 of those trucks were ammunition crates, and the remaining transported nearly 30 Guardsmen each. The remaining trucks quickly drove up to the shore and dropped off whatever ammunition they have. However, morale dropped further when another wave was detected.

"Incoming wave!"

Ammunition was loaded as fast as possible, and gauss guns again began firing on the cruise missiles. Inland, SAM sites had launched their missiles, and missiles collided with missiles as the sky turned into one giant fireball. Shrapnel from missiles on both sides landed on the bunkers and infantry, setting a number of men on fire before other infantry put them out. Two died from the fire alone, while seven more were injured. This time, 52 cruise missiles broke through, targeting whatever convoys were left.

As some descended, the missiles were destroyed, though the fireball just plummeted onto the trucks and destroyed many anyway. Even more roads were torn up, and this time even tanks were destroyed. Stoklomolvi had suffered quite a large defeat; morale sunk even lower. By now, many Guardsmen were quaking in their boots. Only a large victory could inspire them.

IC: The superior training of one soldier proved to be inadequate in dealing with grenades. While the rest were able to toss the grenades, which had not been cooked, one man, carrying a commando machine gun, could not pull up from his firing position and reach for the grenade fast enough.

He was torn by the explosion, but his squad mates had no time to react to it. They kept with their training, and shot at the PKM wielding soldier. The sniper, who was heavily trained in snap shooting, quickly fired 3 round at the enemies before pulling out his AY-57 automatic 10mm pistol.

From their trench, they had a definite advantage over the charging Stoklomolvi troops, and in hand to hand combat, they would draw on their extensive knowledge of Yanitarian Military Pankration. They each mentally recalled the position of their bayonets.

OOC: Just for clarification, 1 soldier is dead, the rest chucked the uncooked grenades back. (not unreasonable for soldiers of such high caliber)

2 soldiers are firing solely at the PKM guy, while the sniper fired three shots at the charging ones, before drawing his automatic pistol to take on the remaining squad members.

The final satellite images came in, meaning the Orbathians would have to wait a few more hours for more intel. Looking over the photos, the brass could see the extent of the damage done. It appeared they had done quite well, quite a few fortifications had been hit and many trucks and the road itself had been torn to pieces. They noticed that many of the trucks had taken cover along the sides of the road. They also noticed that their last strike had been expected and prepared for. The missile spam was becoming less effective. Still they needed to make a larger dent before they were happy.

Three waves would fly this time, each made up of 200 cruise missiles heading for the Stoklomolvi gauss guns, Norskian MLRS and the trucks which had pulled off to the side of the road. Just in case the trucks had rapidly taken to the road, several had been aimed for the road too.

Meanwhile, aboard the Wasp Class, ONS Panther, several helicopters were being fueled up and air calvary soldiers prepared for a coming mission.

The Guardsmen, who had been resupplied, fought back with more vigour than ever before. Gauss guns and flak cannons fired upon the cruise missiles, and fire filled the air as SAM, projectiles and flak clouds roared with the cruise missiles. The barrage was largely ineffective; trucks had been mostly unloaded in the momentary calm, and empty vehicle shells were ruined. The roads, which were already torn to a state beyond repair, were cratered further. However, another bunker was destroyed, and an entire cliff side collapsed as the sheer weight of shrapnel and metal resting atop it dislodged several rocks, bringing down the cliff and the bunker which was previously there. Two gauss guns were dislodged as well, and the men within the bunker and manning the gauss guns were crushed and fell to their deaths nearly fifteen metres below. Another bunker exploded into a flurry of concrete bits and heavy wires, impaling those within and sending bodies flying. In total, less damage was done to the defences, seeing as to how there was not much damage left to be done at any rate. Morale finally steadied.

The ragged team had now moved deep into the wilderness. They had established a parameter with mines and claymores and were attending to their wounds. The communications sergeant kept himself busy trying to repair the radio. It was not looking good.

The squad commander had put the medic and engineer on first watch as the rest of the team tried to get their bearings.
