The Cripistan conflict is something most Orbathians will still discuss with pride, despite the fact that it could be called a loss by some. The conflict itself had been something soldiers had not been properly prepared for. Essentially, in two days time the nation became hell. With no government except warlords and a select few who people would follow, the land turned to anarchy.

A small group of nations descended on the island nation, some with good intentions, some without. In the coming months, several nations took control of plots of land. Most left soon after, likely due to their inability to take control. Two nations, and later a third remained, fighting against the odds and the instability. Eventually a total of four ''states'' were created. These states held their own government, own military, own public services and were essentially cut off from the outside world, even those that lay mere kilometers outside their borders.

After roughly six months of operations, with Orbathians facing heavy resistance in a peaceful region fighting off militaristic foes and what has since been revealed to be Greston soldiers. Soon after, clashes began between the two states that Orbath had turned over to their own government. At the same time, a major power in the region, Anagonia, pulled out. This left Orbath almost single handedly attempting to bring peace to a region and not only that, back to where they had started. With mounting deaths, economic decline and then the threat of war, Orbath was forced to pull out.

In a matter of days, millions of soldiers left the island, sailors, airmen and ground troops all returned home. The island likely broke into chaos even worse than before. Now, six years later, something else was brewing....

OOC: So this is actually set in 2014. I'm not really sure what exactly you have planned.

And so it was.

In the year 2014 the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of Nodea Rudav had proclaimed supremacy above all brethren province-nations within the United Republic. A horrible civil war had come, and past. An economic depression beyond anyones dreams. A secret war for resources. A secret aggression against the Soviet Empire. Yet through it all, Soviet Premier Dimitri Molokov had served his people with justice, and had preformed his duty with diligence. Nothing short of an apocalypse would stop him.

With the Imperial Drekamythian Empire subdued, and the Confederacy of Horsicos under their foot, no one stood in their way. Indeed, they literally ruled Anagonia. Not with an Iron fist, but with true democracy, the way the Unification Fathers intended it to be. The people still voted, still spoke above Congress and the House, and still believed in the ideals that make every freedom loving nation so great. But the military power was beyond imagination. The technological and cultural superiority presented was beyond recognition. They were truly the most advanced proclaimed Soviet Democratic State in existence.

At least in the Anagonian Region. The world itself. Well, that was another story.

Off the shores of Orbath - 1400 Hours military time, 2:00 PM standard

The Project 671 Victor-III class Attack Submarine silently waited a good distance away from what the Captain assumed was a port. Ships had been going in and out as of late, so the obvious was to assume it was civilian considering the lack of military traffic. Or was there military ships? He didn't know. What he did know was his mission here, to regain contact, and make an offer.

Normally diplomatic channels would- in this case should -have been used. For some reason, however, the Premier believed it necessary to send the pride of the Soviet Navy over and regain diplomatic authority. Why, the captain asked himself? He didn't know. He was told. He followed orders.

At exactly 1401 Hours, 2:01 PM standard, he ordered the Victor to periscope depth and raised his communication antenna. Here, a signal was sent, over classified military channels, to any listening station still in operation. Anagonia had advanced a degree in technology since Orbath and Anagonia last met. Assuming Orbath lagged behind, they used standard coded radio. Normally, EMF transmission would be used. But that was beyond the point.

Encrypted Transmission to the Leaders of the Orbathi Military Force
Try and follow me. I'm waiting six nautical miles from your shore, with the location given of my own free will. I am armed, but sent for peace. We must talk, it's been quite a while.
End

The Captain looked to the Officer of the Watch, giving a quizzical look. Why the hell had Command piggy-backed from their antenna? Sure it was possible, but the Lieutenant at station reported that their own transmission was jammed, and a relay from Anagonia had sent it, making it seem like it came from his sub. This was odd, even for contacts. The Captain was sent here to talk, not play games.

And games got you killed.

Portsmouth Naval Base, 14:05
This Naval base was the first naval base, and civilian port for that matter ever constructed in Orbath. Since then, quite a few more had sprung up in order to allow more ships in and out of Orbath with their cargo. Portsmouth remained the main hub and also the main naval base, containing NAVCOM, the naval headquarters.

A radio operator sat, monitoring the airwaves. Normally he sat, bored, listening to the chatter between ships and the docks but today, something came across the radio that made him sit up rapidly.

Originally Posted by From an Old Friend

He looked up, waved over the signals commander and showed him the message. This was odd. The signals commander picked up the phone to NAVCOM.

''General James, we've got quite the situation over here. We've received a message from someone off the coast claiming to be an old friend. They want us to locate them and talk to them.''

The General sat, puzzled for a few seconds before he responded.

''They can't be hostile, they wouldn't have announced their presence if they were. I'll call up High Command and we will raise alert status. I'll ensure our missile defense systems are online. I want you to send out a couple Phantom Classes and find out who this is.''

''Yes sir.''

ONS Vigilance 14:34
The Vigilance was one of many Phantom Class Submarines that typically patrolled Orbathian waters. The Captain was rather embarrassed when he got the call and he realized an unknown sub was now operating in their waters. He'd been tasked to seek it out. He would be the one who would make contact while another, the ONS Bravery, would lie in wait. If shit hit the fan, the Bravery would deal with it.

When the Vigilance reached the approximate area they sent a message back on the same secure channel.

''This is the ONS Vigilance, please identify yourselves and state your business.''

Orbathi Waters - 14:40 Hours, 2:40 PM Standard

This was where things got interesting.

Captain Jason Yamto noted quickly enough that the Submarine appeared on passive sonar. He still maintained periscope depth, quickly retracting his sail antenna and ordering a twelve-knot silent running. The Victor-III Submarine had been severely overhauled, one of a few actually purchased rather than built. The Nuclear Reactor was similar in design to the Seawolf class of submarines, having the advantage of the silent running technology offered to the many captains of those vessels. It was a decision based entirely on defense, Soviet Command seeing no reason to deploy a ship not having the best it could gain from battle.

Jason understood one thing perfectly clear. They could hear him. He didn't know what design the acoustic signature came from, his sonar officer puzzled by the screw rotation. He assumed they had advanced with technology rather than against it, and assumed they could easily detect him. What he hoped was that his assumptions were wrong. His orders were perfectly clear on how to go about this scenario.

Only diving personnel could see the well-maintained hull of the Victor-III as it slid silently, according to the Captains schematics of his sub, towards the radio and screw contact of the Orbathi submarine. The Victor-III had been pointing with its engines towards the Orbathi submarine, rather than away, and as such made a long turn towards it. His helm officer was keenly aware of what he must do, and maneuvered the Victor-III ever so easily to the left side of the Orbathi Sub, then started to surface while turning away for safety reasons.

As soon as the old "hello" maneuver was done, Captain Yamto kept one ear towards his sonar officer for any other contacts as the Victor-III slipped from the depths of the ocean onto the surface, its engines coming to a complete stop, its antenna and radar mast raised for full effect. The contact would be made above the surface, if what the Victor-III did didn't point towards any other conclusion.

He nodded for a transmission to be sent, making aware his intentions:

Greetings friends,

Sorry for the hidden factor, but one must always assume the worst in these days and time. I come as a diplomatic envoy from the Democratic Union of Anagonia. We have opened a satellite for your use to confirm this, and I believe our ships nav marker will make it perfectly clear.

Soviet High Command saw fit for a military diplomatic meeting, as any other might open up our full intentions. I would like to talk to you.

For clarification reasons, I shall give you the following to be verified by the Democratic Union:

Ship Name: Concords Fist
Ship Verification Number: Alpha-Foxtrot-Bravo-Four-Six-Two
Ship Nav Code: Four-Four-Two-Six-Zeta

We hope to see you soon.

Of course when they asked, or demanded, verification about this submarine in their waters Soviet High Command would respond with a resounding yes. This was a mission of upmost importance, after all. No use leaving a perfectly good submarine to be blown to kingdom come.

The message was immediately patched to High Command who had since become aware of the situation and was now monitoring it. This was something unheard of. Using the satellite channel, High Command sent a message.

''Please provide the name, verification number and nav code of the ship operating within our waters.''

Without waiting for a response, High Command ordered the Vigilance to surface alongside the Concord.

Orbathi Waters - 15:00 Hours, 3:00 PM Standard

It was a wonderfully breezy day for Captain Jason Yamto, the water surrounding the Concords Fist splashing against it at the mercy of the wind. He was partially drenched already, even standing on top of the modified conn tower. Of course leaning on the guard rail near the water didn't help matters, but he failed to mind. After all, he was Captain, and for all his crew cared he could go skinny dipping in the pacific.

Looking towards the ocean, he witnessed the Orbathi sub move alongside the Concord. It looked fantastic, almost as pristine as his sub. There was an untold law of the sea that permitted such thoughts, and such actions to honor those proud navy personnel of other nations that went great lengths to take care of their vessels. Hell, he even smiled, which was unusual for him. Behind him his XO turned about to gaze at the Orbathi sub, equally smiling.

"I take it they are proud of their military too," his XO said.
"It looks like it," Jason responded.
"I suppose I should ready the ship for boarding then?"
Jason nodded, "Might as well."

Gazing back to watch his XO go below, he turned back towards the Orbathi submarine.

Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of Nodea Rudav - 1502 Hours, 3:02 PM Standard

Within one of the command rooms in Soviet High Command, a verification message was received from Orbathi High Command. The Lieutenant was told to expect this, and was within orders to respond with positive identification. He did so, not giving a second thought to what might be happening. He had his orders, and thats all that mattered to him.

Orbathi Command,

This vessel matches the positive ID of our Victor-III Class Nuclear Submarine. It is the Concords Fist. It is one of ours.

Thank you

Short, but to the point. The Lieutenant had other matters to attend to.

It didn't take long for the Captain, XO and several crew members armed with submachine guns to reach the deck. Although armed, they pointed the weapons down at the deck which was something considering they were side by side with what could have easily been a ballistic missile submarine loaded with nukes.

The Captain could see both their ships gleaming. He also noticed the Anagonian uniforms were extremely well kept, much like that of his crew. In a few short seconds, he'd found quite a few things common between them which kept him at ease. He waited for a sign or a signal.
Anagonia
09-03-2008, 00:32
Jason Yamto observed the Orbathi crewmen wield their weapons. He supposed they were sub-machine guns by their frame, and quickly noted they were pointed downward. A wise tactic, he supposed. They couldn't possibly know if the Victor-III held nuclear weapons, which it didn't. But either way he admired their caution.

Jason, too, had noted the way the Orbathi had kept their uniforms. Already having a relaxed posture towards them, he smiled somewhat in respect. Not every sea-faring naval force kept up with showmanship. Anagonia was one of them that did, and it was refreshing to find another every once in a while. It made diplomacy between captains a lot easier, considering one didn't have to constantly look in disgust at disgusting attire.

But such was the way of military personnel. The more you maintained yourself, the better you represented your nation.

Jason then saw that his counterpart a mere few feet away in the Orbathi Submarine was waiting for some kind of sign. He went over to the hacth to below, called a few orders, and within minutes several crewmen came out carrying a gang-way to allow free pass to the Anagonian submarine. He walked onto his submarines deck, gazing at what he assumed was the Captain over on the other submarine, and waved his hand in a beckoning fashion as the gang-way was placed.

The Captain could see the other submarine Captain smiling, looking rather carefree for someone who just caused a huge national crisis and single handedly caused the national alert status to be raised. Still, the man and his crew appeared friendly and he relaxed, cautiously smiling back. The submarine belonged to Anagonia, a nation which had once fought side by side with Orbath.

The Captain and two armed crew members walked across the plank, stepping onto the Anagonian submarine. The Captain approached his counterpart and extended his hand,

''I am Captain White of the ONS Vigilance. I'm guessing your here for a good reason so shall we get down to business?''
Anagonia
09-03-2008, 23:09
Even the Orbathi Captain kept his men in line. That was good. Jason was liking this assignment more with each passing moment. Though he dreaded the implications of what he had to come to say. Even so, Jason gave a warm smile at Captain Whites greeting, and extended his hand to finish the handshake. Firmly, he shook, then gestured for his Victor-III.

"I am Soviet Captain Jason Yamto of the Grand Soviet Silent Service Concord's Fist. I am pleased to meet with you." He nodded at the Captains request to get down to business, "Of course Captain White."

One of his Officers came up behind Jason and handed him a folder, with "Top-Secret" on the front. He opened it as if it were free for everyone to view, and handed the papers to Captain White.

"As you know, Orbath and Anagonia once shared a united interest in the long-past Cripistan Conflict. With this in mind, Soviet High Command saw fit for me and my ship to seek you out for another venture." He grinned, "Nothing as large as Cripistan, but something smaller." He handed White another paper of satellite images. "This is Ruthan, an island nation two-hundred miles from our shores. Recently it has built up a massive military presence in violation of the Anagonian Disarmament Agreement of 2004." Handing White the agreement signed by Anagonia and Ruthan, he continued. "Once upon a time Ruthan was a hardcore military state, we invaded when they committed acts of genocide on their population for no apparent reason. Things were fixed, everyone lived happily ever after, and we became the soul providers of military and civilian equipment to them for years to come."

Looking through the folder, he handed White another paper, this time with military equipment compared to Anagonian equipment. "As you can see, what they have now is nothing compared to what we have been providing. So this tells High Command that something fishy is happening. Therefore, my ship and crew was origionally assigned to investigate." He handed White ANOTHER Satellite Paper, then shrugged and handed him the entire folder for the sake of it. "Looking through there, you'll find we have twenty-four hour surveillance of the island. No ships, no aircraft, no submarines, no nothing has gotten through to them. So our question is how? Then things got interesting." He pointed to a paper in the folder White now held, "Two days ago when we were halfway there, we received a command to surface for orders. When I received my daily update from Command, it wasn't pretty."

The paper in question had a satellite image of a massive ship, resembling an old Yamato Class Super Battleship back in the World War II Era. However, there was no smoke stacks, and the AA guns were replaced by some unknown firing platform. Obviously this indicated that this ship would not have been missed by Anagonian Satellite Recon. Two images were side by side on the back of the paper, one with an empty sea just an hour before, and the next with the Yamato-Grade Battleship appearing there just like out of thin air.

"That is why we are concerned," his grin had long faded. "Somehow, that huge ass ship got past us. We don't know what kind of technology could jam our laser feeds, but if it did this is troublesome. We need the satellites for sector information, and Soviet High Command believes that somehow they compromised it."

He took a paper from the folder, then handed it to Captain White. "However, a leading scientists among the Chief Governors office recently did a paper on cloaking technology and how it could be effective today. Not just a dream, but reality." He wasn't laughing when he said it, "Some people believe they might of used this technology, and that this ship isn't Ruthanian. This has our Top Brass on an edge, and now everyone is dead-ass worried that some unknown foreign power is supplying our Ruthanian Brothers with futuristic arms to ultimately invade Anagonia."

Jasons face looked grim. "We have nothing to combat this kind of threat, even if they didn't have cloaking technology it still would be hard to combat Super Battleships like these. Anagonia has never, and perhaps will never, develop Dreadnought technology. We always use battleships, we always use submarines to combat Dreadnoughts."

He frowned, almost to a shiver of fear, as he took another paper, the last one, from the folder. "This was two hours ago, Comrade. Look at how many are in their waters now."

On the image, fifty of the massive ships suddenly appeared when one was only there thirty minutes prior. Jason looked at the picture, then at White. "We need your help to find out just what the hell is going on here." He sighed, looking away. "Because, frankly, we have nothing to combat this new threat."
Orbath
10-03-2008, 15:05
White was stunned, firstly by the fact that these massive ships could hide themselves, secondly by the photo of the fifty ships and thirdly by the fact that Anagonia wanted help.

''It appears these people are not to be fucked with.''

He smiled slightly, trying to break the tension within the sub.

''Ah... I'm afraid I can't say anything. You as a submarine captain yourself should know we just go with the flow.''

This time he didn't mean to make a joke.

''I can contact High Command and see what we can do. Actually I think it would be best if you spoke with them.''

He moved closer to the Captain, positioning himself so the other crew members couldn't hear.

''After the Cripistan failure, my people don't support any kind of military action. Your likely to either be told no, or have a few submarines sent your way.''
Anagonia
10-03-2008, 17:23
Captain Jason Yamto nodded at the whispered warning, and sighed. He figured as much. After Cripistan, many nations left in dishonor, and despair. The Anagonian Civil War was caused by the Cripistan Conflict, and the desire to return. After much "bickering", Nodea Rudav won over. But by the time they did, the moment had long passed to return and finished what they started.

"I see," he said after a few moments. He chuckled earlier at Captain Whites attempt at breaking the stress, but now expressed deep concentration. He then looked up at White. "A few submarines would do, we can't send an armada against these things anyway. Maybe a few small arms engagements or something, just to find the route cause of this."

He leaned closer this time, afraid to tell aloud the fear Soviet Anagonia had in its heart. "Our forces can't match these ships, thats why I was sent here to as for help."

He leaned back, nodding. "Whenever I can speak to your High Command, that would be good. Anything would help, because we can't do this without experienced assistance."

They have what seems to be advanced weaponry, and the past intent to use it. Our forces can't match theirs, in no way possible. So, I come here on behalf of Soviet High Command." General Howe had been the first to hear about the sub and it was he who authorized the increase and now decrease in security level. He sipped from a strong brew of coffee. Smoking was rare in Orbath, except for the occasional cigar so most officers turned to coffee. He'd had a long day but nothing prepared him for this.

He listened intently to the submarine captain's plea but he was especially moved by the last few words. It was a true cry for help, deep from the man's heart, motivated by fear. It was something he hadn't heard since his days of battle.

The Captain's plea tugged at his insides and he knew he had to ask. He responded quickly,

''I understand time is of the essence... I'm going to contact the President directly, right away and discuss the matter with him. Only he has the power to authorize a foreign deployment like this.''

Howe literally jumped from his chair and ran to a nearby bright red phone. It was normally reserved for immediate matters of national security. After a few minutes of hasty conversation the General returned.

''I've got good news and bad news. The President sympathizes with your cause but refuses to offer any large scale or public deployment...yet. He has authorized the use of submarines to attack the naval targets within... and only within your waters. I hope we can help.''

Captain James Yamto nodded, and thanked the person on teh other side of the screen for his help. Afterward, he closed the communication, and thanked Captain White as he left their submarine for his. It was a short journey, but in James' mind it felt like an eternity. How in the world could even his submarine match the supposed firepower of those dreadnought ships? How could any submarine? Their Iowa Class Battleships were outdated, and his Victor III Submarine was ending the line of its service despite numerous upgrades. He doubted anything would be of much help.

Upon his return his XO motioned him towards his quarters. There, on his private computer console he had received a message. Opening it, and reading what followed after the video, he sat there in shock.

Off the Coast of Ruthan - 1545 Hours, 4:45 Standard

A massive Battleship fleet had been assembled by the Soviet Navy to combat the new threat. Despite the overwhelming odds, they had to do something. An invasion of this magnitude would surely press their resources to the breaking point, and without a preemptive strike things might not go in the Soviet Empires favor. Admiral Uria Nolono knew very well this was a suicide mission, but he couldn't help feeling pride watching the massive armada of battleships set sail for the first of many strikes against the Ruthanian Navy. Or, Uria corrected himself, whatever nation this belonged to.

What surprised him the most was that the fifty-two battleships had not been picked up by the dreadnought armada, or fired upon. It was as if they were waiting for them. Indeed, satellite scans showed that most of the fleet seemed to have left port and that only thirteen of the massive ships were left. That was a welcome relief, even despite the firepower these Yamato refits seemed to have.

And then, fifty miles from the point of engagement, things went to hell.

All around his fleet radar contacts were blazing. To his disbelief, as he watched, one of the enemy dreadnoughts seemed to appear from thin air with guns already firing. He looked from the bridge to see one of his Iowa ships explode in a fireball instantly, another following, with even a third instantly splitting in four sections by multiple hits from some kind of super powered hit. His battleship aimed its turrets to the now overwhelming amount of dreadnoughts appearing to surround Uria's fleet, and looking at the numbers they were down to twenty three ships.

His ship fired, but in a futile effort. The bridge exploded with flames as the entire ship arched forward and started to plunge into the depths. Everyone around him was either in flames or dead, and he having been knocked against the bulkhead, forced back by the momentum of his ship sinking faster than imaginable. The water came up, and he was instantly crushed.

He didn't even have time to order his fleet into battle properly.

SNSS Concords Fist - 1621 Hours, 5:21 Standard

He sat back, watching the satellite feed end and the text to follow. Countless souls had been lost, not within minutes or hours, but mere seconds. The attack happened so fast that most of the Soviet Armada had no time to respond. Nearly all the fleet, decimated instantly. The Admirals ship going down so violently that he knew no one survived. They had purposly killed off every other ship, and left the Admirals for last. Jason knew that this was a hopeless battle.

Wiping sweat from his forehead, realizing he actually felt fear about this, he copied the information to a data disc and took his time to go back over to Captain White. He quickly took White to the nearest computer, without question or comment, and showed him the video.

White was stunned. The sheer force of everything showed that this enemy was not someone to be played with. Thoughts of a big nuclear bomb exploding around the enemy ships brought him back to earth. That was one way. Despite seeing this he still felt somewhat invincible, after all, submarines were one of the dreadnoughts weaknesses. He turned to the Captain,

''We certainly have a problem on our hands. I'm glad we can help.''

18-03-2008, 17:17
"First things first," James said to White. "We need some kind of plan to deal with this new threat." He walked past Whites console and started on his way over to his submarine, "If they whipped out half our damn fleet without even a scratch, we need a damn good plan for not getting killed. I'll be in touch."

The past few days had been spent preparing for the massive task at hand. Military brass had spent much of the time locked away, discussing tactics, smoking cigars and sipping coffee. During that time, submarine crews had been readied and the subs themselves loaded with munitions and supplies, everything that would be needed to undergo the mission at hand.

A message was relayed to the Anagonian captain and if it was deemed secure enough, was to be relayed back to Anagonian commanders.

As for the cloaking device, since this is supposed to be like six years in the future, I suppose it would be feasible for an advanced nation to come up with some sort of cloaking device and it would certainly be interesting, provided it didn't get too far fetched. I know that seems funny, considering I also RP a fantasy/past tech nation, but I tend to keep things separate, I like MT to be realistic and fantasy to be, well, just that... fantasy. D-DAY - Operation Sea Serpent

Captain Jason Yamto gazed to his Officer of the Watch, Oscar Ritch. The Victor-III Nuclear Submarine went forward at twelve knots, tactically silent, about two-hundred feet from the surface. They had entered hostile waters, and so far the sounds of screws rotating had been annoying easy to loose. The unknown Dreadnoughts had been playing games since they easily dispatched the Grand Soviet Battle Fleet, and Jason had not approved of finding out that there were similar submarines with this capability. The Orbathian submarines would have been behind the Concords Fist. Torpedo tubes hadn't been loaded yet, since no threat had been properly identified. By Jason's calculations, the homing wouldn't matter, because once it fired the target would "disappear" again.
