Opening the planetary gates [FT/RP/Open]

Triden Prime
02-03-2008, 05:57
The gentle tapping of fingers against his desk could be heard by the Ministers in the room as President Grayson listened to them speak. For the first time since he had ascended to the Presidency, Noah was nervous. Today he was announcing to the the rest of the galaxy that the Grand Republic of Triden Prime was shedding it's isolationistic attitude and opening it's gates.

"President Grayson do you have any questions about the speech you are to give today?" asked Luke Glenham rather dryly. Bringing his fingers against the palm of his hand the President looked up at his Communications adviser and rolled his eyes while trying to be polite as he could. "No I do not Luke. We have been over the speech that we both wrote at least a dozen times now and I believe that I am well prepared. My only concern right now is how the rest of the galaxy will react to hearing that our once secluded planet has come out into the open." he replied.

Glenham nodded and sat down on a couch to his left, next to the other adviser's. He hoped that the President didn't see his question as offensive; to be honest with himself, Luke Glenham was just as nervous and he was quite sure that so was everyone else in the room and throughout the planet. But it was in fact Trevor Edison, the Minister of Foreign Affairs who decided to break the silence once more as the President now paced back and forth.

"Sir, there is nothing to worry about. We have sent out feelers to other planets and had quiet contact with several ally worthy governments for some time now and they all seem to agree that the time is right for Triden to open it's gates. I also know for a fact that the populace supports your decision as do all of we and I am sure that this day will go down as a historical and glorious day for Triden Prime and her people." Edison said with a smile

Walking over to the President he offered him a pat on the shoulder; one thing that no one besides himself and Admiral Quartermaine might do seeing their long history with him. Now smiling himself Grayson stood still and took a deep breath and then after a second he let it out as if he was putting his worries behind him, if only for the moment. Thank you old friend, he thought to himself. Looking forward towards Trevor he placed his hand on the man's shoulder and spoke.

"You are absolutely right, it is no wonder I trusted you for advice on the battlefield for so long. Because it certainly wasn't for your singing." he said chuckling.

As everyone finished laughing Noah took a step back from the Minister and then turned to everyone else. "If there is nothing else ladies and gentleman, I believe we have a news conference downstairs."

After a few moments of silence the President and his Ministers filed out of the room and were escorted by his guards downstairs to the press room in the palace. Stopping for a moment the President allowed the Ministers to all file into the room with the exceptions of Minister Edison and his adviser Glenham; who stayed behind. Moments later Luke and Trevor walked into the room and headed straight for the podium. Minister Edison took a position to the right of the podium and Luke Glenham stepped up to it where he introduced the President.

"Ladies and Gentleman of Triden Prime, and intergalactic residents honoring us with your viewership, it is with my most distinguished pleasure that I give you our leader; President Noah Grayson."

As the press and crowd inside the press hall applauded President Grayson walked into the room smiling and offer a wave here and there to everyone as he stepped up to the podium. Looking forward towards the cameras he waited for the applause to die down before he spoke.

"My fellow Tridenians, it is with great pleasure that I address our great planet and for the first time in over 70 years, the galaxy today. You see 100 years ago the warmongering forces of Sirius invaded a young colony named Triden Prime and took over the planet, for the shear purpose of enslaving it's people and stealing it's resources. Years and years passed and few fought colonists fought back. It was their children however who grown up, decided that oppression and slavery would no longer be tolerated. 30 years of enslavement ended on this very day 70 years ago when the Tridenian Colonials stepped forward months beforehand and waged an uprising against Sirius. The uprising ended with Sirius signing a treaty of withdrawal."

Noah paused for a moment as a brief burst of applause broke out from his ministers and the audience in the room and then he continued.

"Jump forward these 70 years and we are a prosperous and healthy people who has expanded from one side of the planet to encompassing the whole planet on it's two major land masses. We have achieved many a great things except such as planetary side defenses, a booming economy, and a wonderful education system that thrives in the sciences. However there is one thing we have left to achieve. This thing that I speak about is having an open planet as we once did before the Sirius invasion. We can have a planet that sits forefront on the intergalactic stage, where other planets exchange ideas, culture, technology and many other things with us. We too can share all that we have accomplished and allow the galaxy to see our great planet that was once nothing more than a colony.

With that in mind I am pleased to announce that as of today Triden Prime will open the gates so to speak and allow travel to and from our country. Also the formation of the Foreign Ministry has been finalized and we will begin to hold conferences with fellow planets to discuss creating diplomatic ties. I ask you to join me today as we step forward into this new adventure and embrace it with open arms. Together we are building a brighter future for Triden Prime and for the rest of the galaxy."

Applause erupted in the press room as President Grayson finished his speech stood at the podium smiling to the cameras and all who were watching. Then he turned around and shook the hands of his Foreign Minister and Communications Adviser before waving to the cameras once more and walking out of the room, leaving the news crews to report on what they had just heard. The President and his ministers retired back to his office where he would await the news himself on the galactic reaction to his speech.

Dictator David Rickards watched a news broadcast concerning the de-isolation of the nation of Triden Prime. Two of his advisors were in the office with him, and they were discussing what, If any, action should be taken. Rickards frowned, and paid little attention to the conversation, and instead eyed the shiny red phone on his desk. "So," said an advisor, "I believe we just ignore them, as most people will." The Dictator cut in,"Isn't it best to have as many allies as possible? Perhaps there is something that they have that could be of use to us? Also, reaching out to a smaller up and coming nation will help make us look good." The other advisor said, "but at our expense. On our dollar. Whose to say they won't just shun us one day?" "Well then, we'll be out a a few dollars," Said Rickards. He reached for the polished telephone, and rested his hand on it. The room became very quiet. He slowly lifted the headset and spoke "President Noah Grayson, of Triden Prime. Thank You," into it. He cleared his throat, and waited for the call to go through. "I am the Dictator of Skillcrossbones, David Rickards, and my nation is interested in becoming an ally of Triden Prime I would be willing to give economic as well as military support for your nation.I suggest we meet as soon as possible to draw up the terms of a treaty.

Deep Space Relay Station Number 22-1a...

Commander Walter T. Fennes online...

Incoming transmission...

"Looks like we're getting something sir." Lieutenant Davis said.

"Yea I see it." he said looking at the computer screen, his face dull with boredom. They had only recieved only just a few messages within their 18 month tour, most of them just utter nonsense. "Ha!"

The crew looked puzzled at Davis' outburst, "Sir?" Davis finally said.

"Looks we have something here. Haha! Finally SOMETHING!"

The men were looking a little uncomfortable, a sweat drop forming at the back of their heads. "Sir..?"

"Oh right sorry, relay transmission back to home."

A day had passed when the GAS Talon Strike came out of hyperspace and settled near the station. "Attention Station 22-1a, this is Commander William Alcott, transmitting message from Chairman Kotor. This should be sent to the transmission's origin."

"I copy," Davis began to transmit back to the origin.

"On behalf of the people of Ganoxa, I welcome your introduction to the galactic stage. Our people is interested in opening diplomatic relations with your people for the goodwill of our two parties. With your permission we would like to send a diplomatic ship to your world to formalize our relations.

Chairman Wraith Kotor
Ganoxian Alliance Council."

A satelite flew quietly through Milky Way Galaxy, one of many that plyed the space between nations that were considered to be, International Territory.

Picking up the signal, the satelite turned and flew closer to the source, and sending a beacon back home, caused a Relay path to form through international Territroy made interely of other Satelites dropping out of fluidic space, each scattered a great distnce from the other, and having reformed the Inter-Galactic Trans Dimensional Communications Network again, the Satelite broadcast the mesage back to Warhaven.

*~*~*~*~*~*~
It had been a few years since Emporer Tajen took the throne, and he had mellowed some, relaxed enough to be nice and friendly on occasion.
He had infact been amusing himself with a nice rousing hand of Holographic Solitare due to it being a particularly slow day when the game paused and broadcast the message.

"Well, its nice to see the IGTDCN working again."Tajen commented to himself

He sat there, and thought a moment.

"Command: Re-broadcast mesage to Diplomatic Sector along with my reply, file and save under File name Triden Prime, copying all relevent files into the Aquamarinian Hive-Mind." Tajen ordered. He took a drink of water, cleared his throat, and by that point, the Network had its broadcast initialised.

Delivered Via IGTDCN, no security protocols neccessary, public communications system.

Greetings and welcome to the international stage. No doubt you have already been inundated with many diplomatic requests, and we add our own to the stack, requesting only that sometime in the near future we get together and get to know each other a bit better before making any decisions. I don't know you, you don't know me, and rumors and heresay do not a sound decision basis make.
Perhaps we could come on over and see you, Andromeda Galaxy is such a long way to travel in your shoes, as new to the international stage as you are. However, if you want to come on over, let me know, I can set something up. Either way, get back to me soon, I will not wait forever.

Oh yes, Feel free to make a reply on the IGTDCN, the network satelite probably isn't too far from your world, is large, round, black, and marked with the letters IGTDCN in red, just aim your reply at it.

Kajeenith ended the broadcast, sat on his crystal throne, and waited a reply.

Ah, to be young..

Word was spreading through the galactic community of a small, upstart planet. They weren't much now, but they showed much promise; as well as a vibrant planetary culture. Such upstarts were not normally noticed by the Trailarii..normally. This small nation just happened to provide an opening in a quadrant that had previously suffered from a trade bottleneck. Trade with these Tridentian's would open up trade with the rich nations on the far side of the Galactic core..

Greetings, my friends. Today you have stepped forth into the stars, and we pray that it benefits you richly. There are, however, those who would seek to take advantage of such a new player to the pan-galactic stage. Those who would seek to lay waste to your cities and enslave your people. We can prevent that. We invite you to establish an embassy in the great city of the Met, our capital. Come, there is much to discuss. Ten thousand years we have dwelt amongst the stars, we have much knowledge to share. If you have not the means or technology to move beyond your star system, we will gladly provide transportation.

Standing over an electronic panel in the President's Office, Minister Edison tapped a few buttons before turning to the President.

"Sir the responses are starting to flow in, I count one..no three coming in prerecorded for you." he said, trying to hold back his excitement.

"Outstanding. Start patching them through to my desk Minister." Noah replied. While doing so he tapped a button on his desk and a medium size screen rose up on the right hand side. Staring at the screen his eyes lit up at the new faces and their welcoming messages. One of the faces he recognized as the ruler of Trailica; a planet they had made contact with in the recent past. The others were new faces however and much needed to be learned about them first.

"This is the moment we have been waiting for. Prepare to record and transmit my responses. I believe we are about to really see once more how crowded this universe is people". President Grayson conveyed to the Ministers and staff in the room as he straightened his suit. As soon as they had the holo cameras in front of him he began his messages.

Aftokratos Hadriel,
Thank you for your kind and honest message to myself and Triden Prime's people. Your words spoke truth's that unfortunatley we are all to familiar with. Our limited previous communication with your planet has been beneficial to this point and we see no reason to stop it. I gladly accept your invitation and will have my diplomatic staff contact yours to work out an agreement on when I can make way to your planet. As for transportation we may not have anything that matches your planet but we have a sufficient cruiser and some MkII Vipers that can guard the ship as we make our trip. That is of course as long as you don't mind an escort.

Once again thank you and I look forward to seeing you in person soon.

Sincerely,

President Noah Grayson

Emporer Darkson,

First off, allow me to thank you for taking the time to reach out to our planet and it's people. Please be assured that while we may be receiving many diplomatic requests, none will be passed up. Triden Prime while new to the galactic stage has always on a planetary scale valued judging people by their personal actions and not by the rumors started off as mere whispers. I look forward to arranging a meeting between your diplomatic staff and my own. Hopefully it may come down one day to us meeting face to face.

I believe for right now I will accept your offer to send your diplomatic team to Triden Prime, merely for the reason of security. Please feel free to contact my Minister of Foreign Affairs; Trevor Edison to arrange the details.

Sincerely,

President Noah Grayson

Taking a short breath, Noah reached for his glass of water and took a drink before preparing to continue his responses. Finishing the glass he turned back to the cameras and signaled that he was ready.

Chairman Kotor,

Greetings once more from the Grand Republic of Triden Prime. I wanted to let you know that we received your kind, albeit short message of welcome. The people of Triden Prime are explorers Chairman, yearning to finally step foot into the galaxy once more after secluding themselves for so long. I believe there is much to be learned of your planet and people as well as much for you and your people to learn about us.

I welcome you to have your diplomatic team contact my Minister of Foreign Affairs. I am sure we can arrange a meeting between our two people to discuss the galaxy and goodwill, among other things. We look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

President Noah Grayson

Finishing what Noah assumed to be his last message an aide leaned forward and spoke to him.

"Sir it appears that while recording the messages a live call came through. Unfortunately it is to late to take it but they did record it as a message to you as well."

Taking a moment to listen to the recording, President Grayson thought out his latest response to the second brief message. Satisfied with what he had come up with he once more motioned for the cameraman to begin recording.

Dictator Rickards,

I must apologize for having missed your personal call. I was unaware that you had taken the time and great strides to make such a personal outreach and I must inform you how very sorry I am to have missed it. I am sure you can understand that we have been bombarded with messages from many different planets and powers and it is a tad overwhelming. Regardless your message of support and alliance is very generous. I must however insist that we take the time to first meet and get a chance for our peoples to learn about each other before I make any commitments. I owe that to my people after the years of suffering their forefathers and their forefathers fathers endured after an occupation brought on by another planet making such offers.

Please don't misunderstand however. We are not implying that you or your people are ruthless or slavers, merely that we are cautious and wish to learn more about you. If this suits you and your planet please feel free to contact me personally or have your diplomatic team contact our Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sincerely,

President Noah Greyson

Deep Space Station 22-1a recieving message from Triden Prime...

Davis read the computer screen and alerted Fennes, "Commander we are getting another transmission. Its the Tridens."

"Broadcast it to the Talon Strike."

"Broadcasting now sir," tech Sargent Lowell said.

After listening to the message Alcott keyed in, "I guess we'll take our leave, have you retrieved the supplies from the cargo bay."

"Getting the last bits now, thanks."

"Hey it was on the way, heh."

"Yea well I'll look you up in eighteen months, round of drinks on me."

"I guess I have something to look forward to, Alcott out," the transmission ended. Alcott turned his command chair towards navigations, "Alright lets get going, Lieutenant."

"Yes sir," she said.

The Talon Strike sped off into hyperspace towards Triden Prime.

King Edward, head of the department of foreign relations, looked the message over carefully.
He wrote a message to Minister Trevor Edison.

Dear Mr. Edison, as per the request of my Emporer, I am writing to arrange the details of a first time meeting, as suggusted by your president.
While as stated, it is very easy for us to travel, diffrent ships have diffrent requirements, and our representitive would be arriving in a civilian Octopus class ship. Of all Warhaven species, we are the only aquatics, and as such, base our designs off sea creatures. That being said, an Octopus ship needs either a space port or large ship for docking, or a large body of water to land in. They are of course unarmed, and unarmored, being civilian vessals, so I doubt they would pose a threat to your security, and as for a meeting time, well, we hail from The Great Ocean, a dimension in another layer of space that is copmpletly fluidic, and could be at your proverbial front door step in as little as five hours.

Worry not about providing a suitable environment, just as land dwellers have adapted suits to travel in space and underwater, so too have we adapted suits to travel outside of water. I could write pages upon pages more, but just as I am a busy Aquamarinian, I am sure you are a busy man, and so for now, leave with only an inquiry of when should we depart.

The Dictator read the message and immediately replied with a message of his own:
I am not offended in the slightest by your caution. I understand the hardships your nation has been through, and I would take the same cautions if I were in your positon. Anyhow, I will send an unarmed ambassador and negotiator to meet with your government whenever you specify as a good time. Thank You for considering our friendship.
Sincerely, David Rickards
