The film, which was carefully distributed to the foreign offices, ministries, and departments of the nations of the world, opened with little fanfare, little introduction at all. It started off with that countdown reel, and then a ten second opening, which featured the Genovian tricolor waving in the background and the words “Property of the Genovian Principality. © 2008” The film then cut to an image of two people standing, a man and a woman. The man, a French Genovian with grey streaks in his black hair and a pure dark gray beard, looked like he was in his mid-fifties but despite his age he had a youthful vigor. The man was wearing a black suit, pink shirt, and a baby-blue tie. Over his suit was a sash which looked like an elongated version of the green, white, and blue Genovian tricolor whose actual purpose was to denote that the wearer was the civilian Prime Minister of Genovia. The woman was in her early twenties, also a Caucasian. She had jet-black hair and was wearing a white dress, as well as several assorted pieces of jewelry.

The man spoke,

“Hello, I’m Hugo Noir, Prime Minister of the Genovian Principality. I wish to introduce you to Her Serene Highness, Amelia Grace Ronaldo, Sovereign Princess of Genovia.”

The woman than said,

“Flattered. Thank you for watching, and I am assuming that you are either the king, queen, president, or prime minister or you are a foreign minister or secretary. Well, thank you for your viewing. We are of the Genovian Principality, and I guess that it is imperative for me to explain the kingdom to you a bit.

We are a relatively small nation, with only 38 million people, however we do have a rather high standard of living. Genovia was influenced by both France and Italy, causing an interesting mixture of cultures and languages, with the majority ethnic groups either French Genovian or Italian Genovian, although we do receive quite a few immigrants that wish to live here. Our economy is based on tourism, banking, gambling, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. We are a constitutional monarchy, so the National Council and the Prime Minister wield the real power. However, the Sovereign Princess is still the head of state. Oh, and the capitol of Genovia, San Ignacio, is in the Italian sector. That is all that I can think of as information for the Principality. Our Ministry of External Affairs is new, so it will be a while before any embassy information can be processed, an our official fact book will have to take some time to be published.”

The image of the scroll faded to show a woman with a small coronet in her gleaming blonde hair, and her blue heather eyes holding the same smile that graced her lips. Her voice possessed a rich, but crisp, midrange tonality that projected well without ever having to be raised. Mercedez Merrideath Hexx (http://www.atddm.com/mercy1.jpg) sat on a wrought iron and redwood bench amid an informal country garden in gloriously full bloom. The peaceful sounds of the garden added to the welcome in her voice and her air of comfortable serenity. She wore a perfectly tailored dress in a deep peach hue that complimented her flawless complection.

"Welcome to the world, your Highness Amelia. May your reign be long, peacefull and prosperous. May your people be ever happy, healthy and wise. Moving forth into the wider world stage is never an easy step to take. May your nation make the most of the transition. We of the Domination wish you the best of luck on all of your endeavors. " The image faded away, as did the music...

In Genovia, the Princess in recent times has became less of a ceremonial figurehead and, especially with the Democratic Unity coalition headed by Hugo Noir, a trusted advisor. One must also note that it is slightly interesting, with an almost sixty or so year-old man trusting a woman who is not even twenty-five in foreign relations.

The Prime Minister and the Princess were sitting outside on a balcony, overlooking a view of one of Genovia’s famous beaches on a sunny afternoon. The letters (which were arranged alphabetically) were arranged on a silver platter, no metaphor was present there, just a strange coincidence. Prime Minister Noir takes a silver letter opener and did to the letter from Cookesland and says,

“It’s addressed to you.” Hugo said to the princess with a chuckle.
Princess Amelia takes the letter and reads it thoroughly, hands it back to the Prime Minister and says,

“Well, they were nice to us. I mean, they offered aid. I wonder if they‘re related to the United States of America?”

Prime Minister Noir says,

“They were nice, I don’t think we’ll need it, but you know.”

The next letter was from the nation of Dashie, the Prime Minister opens it and skims through it, and asks,

“Can I burn it?”

The princess says,

“Come on, it mustn’t be that bad.”

“It is”, Hugo said as he handed it to her.

The princess read the letter and said,

“ I mean if you want to, after all, you make the foreign policy.”

The Prime Minister, who was a heavy smoker (although he did not smoke around the Princess, a she was an asthmatic), pulled out a lighter, which looked like a high-end version of one of those Zippo ones, placed the letter near the wastebasket that was used for the mail scraps and lit the letter and droped it in, slightly charring Cookesland’s envelope.

“It was bad, wasn’t it?”, Hugo Black asked.

“Yeah, it was”, the Princess admitted.

About the Shanskeian letter, Hugo Noir said,
“It’s basically the same as the Cookeslandic letter, but you can read it.”

Of course, the only reason was that the Princess of Genovia was an admitted otaku, who did have a fit of joy when she read the signature.

Quetzalcoatl Nochtli, the Hueyi Tlatoani of the Aztec National League (ANL), the soon-to-be retired Sub-Tlatoani Coyotepec Xoxoctic and his replacement, Xochitl Rodriguez, one of the three Tlatocayotli (senators) of Nicaragua, Dr. Darius Wellington, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Christopher Chavez, Chancellor of the People’s Assembly all sat around a wall panel television, watching the video from the Genovians. As soon as the video ended, Quetzalcoatl pressed a touch-screen panel, gently brining up the florescent lights in the room.

As usual, the twenty-eight year old Tlatoani started the conversation, “So, what did you all think.” Speaking in a lighter, less serious tone, he continued on, “Xochitl, assuming that we win the elections in July, you will be the second of this nation in September, tell me, what do you think of this new nation?”

This had been one wild week for Xochitl Rodriguez. With one of the founding fathers of the ANL, Xoxoctic, dropping a bombshell on the Socialist Labor Party (SLP) by not seeking re-nomination as the Sub-Tlatoani, there had been a massive scramble to find a nominee that would unite the three major factions within the SLP. Their top choice, Chancellor Chavez, was too much of a populist for the executives and was perfect in his current capacity. For one reason or another, every other potential candidate was unsatisfactory, until they came down to Rodriguez. Nearing the end of her first term and in a very safe seat, she was deemed as the one figure that could balance out the ticket and was not in for a tough battle. Plus, she was professional, attractive and highly-intellectual, the polar opposite of the rugged, war built and down-to-earth Nochtli. Quickly, she gathered her thoughts and said, “Well, their government seems a little disorganized. Usually nations would wait until after they have a functioning foreign affairs ministry before they would reach out to other nations. Well, then there was our own case, in which before we adopted the ’03 provisional charter and actually formed a government that you started going to international conferences and what not.”

Dr. Wellington, the oldest member of the Aztec government, chimed in. The 60-year-old's British heritage could be clearly heard in his cockney accent. “Well, I would like to know a little bit more about them and their domestic policies, especially on the area of economics. However, they are in a strategic location and it would certainly behoove us of to establish some sort of diplomatic and trade relations.”

Quetzalcoatl replied, “Agreed, and their current territorial area is too small to support a military that would be much of a threat to our interests. Chancellor, I want you to be on stand-by to be our first official visitor to Genovia if it’s necessary. Similarly, if their officials visit us, I want you to be their host. Xoxoctic and Rodriguez, I want you to begin drafting legislation that would authorize embassy exchanges, official visits and the usual procedures in first contact scenarios. Dr. Wellington, I want you to stay with me so we can send a response back to them…
