THE CENTRAL STATE OF AGRANDOV
One State. One Party. One Future.

Communication

Foreign Office of Astater.

The Glorious Empire will purchase as many of the Orage Islands as you are willing to sell, and we will do so at a premium price of 150% your asking value. These islands will be brought under the banner of the Central State as a colony of the Empire, although there will be no deportation of existing residents. Agrandan government and corporate funding will revitalise the islands into more than just an economic outpost, and we will form a regional trade and finance hub for mutual benefit of Agrandov and Astater.

Naturally, the Majestic State expects a little more in return for the extra investment into Astater. For us to truly consider the purchase of these islands, the islands purchased must be truly independent from Astater and an identifiable colony of the Unified State. As such, the Agrandan Orange Islands will have the same territorial boundaries of 40 nautical miles as the Central State itself, and Agrandan shipping and aircraft must be able to move uninhibited between and within Agrandan territories.

I would like to offer my personal guarantee that we will allow Astaterian people to work or live as they please on all Agrandan islands, providing that they have no criminal record according to Agrandan Colonial Law. However, they will be subject to the normal passport and security checks when they move between the islands.

The Central State of Agrandov will also purchase all proven oil sites within 40 nautical miles of the shore of any island we are allowed to buy.

We appreciate that the cost of this venture will be exceedingly high, but with the combined wealth of Agrandan corporations - plus a healthy government subsidiary - any reasonable price will be well within our reach.

I would also like to discourage you from caving in to the demands of these corporate criminals. A deal will Agrandov will be much more beneficial to Astater, and the security and might of the Agrandan military would protect the region from illegal aggression.

Signed and awaiting your response,
Emperor Jacob Simon Shaw,
Emperor of the Central State of Agrandov.

SIC:

Arthur Grant finished off the message and then called in his Task Director Maxx Farker who carried out all of the missions and "trades". Black Rock had not finished or even attempted any missions out of Aligar yet and now it was time to screw over some big corporate pigs from Griffencrest and Orbath Oil.

"I am not going to wait for those facists assholes from Astater to reply, get some destroyers, tankers, and subs ready for deployment. I want 6 escort destroyers, 4 escort subs, and three oil tankers out and ready to pick up the oil."

Maxx was suprised and forgot for a second the fiercly strict rules and made a face at Arthur. If Maxx wasn't good friends with Arthur his head would be dsiplayed in a shelf while still making that face. "No action?" said Maxx suprisingly.

"No Maxx you stupid ass, there will be action, the action of screwing over some people at Astater Maxx don't forget about them."

Maxx was even more surpised at the remark and nearly made an even worse face but stopped himself because doing that twice was pushing it.

"No sir, I mean.... um, you know, like Griffencrest. They are sending someone. And some bastards at Orbath Oil have sent a message, even some dumbfuck from Exxon-Drecca has asked to buy some of Orange Island. What are we going to do about them sir?"

Arthur laid back in his chair, smiled, and plopped his feet upon the desk.

"You are being stupid here Maxx, of course we are going to get Griffencrest and those other fuckers, but I want to keep it quiet. You understand Maxx?"

Then it came to him, Maxx his head in approval and couldn't help but let out a grim smile.

"Ah, I understand sir, sorry for the inconveinence. How many and who do you want deployed sir?"

Arthur nodded and smiled even wider, "Now you get you dumbfuck." said Arthur jokingly. He sat back down regularly and closed his hands together and placed them on the desk softly.

"I want 4 destroyers and 6 subs upon any Exxon-Drecca ship over there, and 4 subs and 2 destroyers for the Orbath Oil Assholes."

"What about the Griffencrest Units sir, they will be a pain to take down with a small amount."

"Ah them Maxx, they will be a pain but luckily I have planned for that."

"What do you mean sir?"

"I mean that I want 20 destroyers, 25 subs, and 10 battleships on those fuckers. Any ships of theirs gets to close or even tries to go to Orange Islands, we blast them out of the fucking sea. They don't know us so they can't attack us then."

Maxx was astonished by these plans. They were almost impossible, Black Rock didn't have enough money to deploy that much at once. Maxx was so outstanded that he voiced his astonishment.

"But sir! That is, is, is.... um, freaking impossible! Sorry but it really is sir."

Arthur seemed happy hearing that and he leaned foward and started to reply in a quiet, stern, almost scary tone.

"Maxx, how many ships are in the Aligarian navy?"

Maxx was confused on how that related by still answered the question, but in a vauge way.

"A fucking lot?"

"Yes quite a big fucking number of ships are in the Aligarian navy Maxx, meaning quite a fucking lot of ships are at our disposal. Remember that thirty mill Maxx?"

Maxx finally understand and spoke up once again in surpise.

"Yes! Yes I do remember! And they said that we can borrow any ships from the navy at a time only we have to supply the people! They would supply the money, food and everything on it but people! Yes I remember now!"

"Yes good you idiot, I am glad to hear that you aren't a complete stupid retard. I decided to take them up on that offer yesterday so we have a lot more ships and money then you think."

Maxx smiled, happy about the outcome and Arthur leaned back in his chair and gave his grim frown that meant he was happy and that he was pleased with himself.

Subject: Oil exports

Dear Sirs,

In reponse to your recent offer to export Oil Durnovaria Resources would, with an eye on expanding our strategic resource base, be msot interesting in securing the optiosn to pruchase upto 1million barrels of oil per annum for the next 25 years with an option to negotiate terms every 5 years.

At this time we are willing to offer an option price of $10 per barrel plus a final purchase price of $60 per barrel. (ooc: effectively to secure 1million barrels per year for 25 years we woudl pay $250million up front plus an addiontal $60million per year on delivery).

We are more than happy for you to ship orders using your own vessels, porvided they comply with Crookfur natioanl maritime regulations. Although should you wish we would also be willign to supply our own vessels and provide additional vessels for your use should you need them.

In regard to the offer to sell certain Islands we would be willing to eneter into agreements to pruchase several isalnds and invest heavily in thier infrastructure. We would prefer soem sort of security guarantee and would more than willing to porvide introductiosn to the Crookfur foreign ministry to eprhaps establish some sort of shared security arrnagement.

Arthur slamed his hand on his desk as he read the reports. They had sent him a message saying "You will have yours answer shortly" which meant in english, "Sorry sir but we hate you bastard but no."

He read that not only that but he said yes to the asholes from Metrolia Oil Corporation, Orbath Oil, and Angrandov. All of which severely pissed him off he decided that not only the compitition would die if thise carried on like that. The ships had already been sent so he had a chance of securing the area before the other pigs and corporations did.

6 destroyers, 8 subs, and 2 battleships were also added on to intercept any ships from Metrolia Oil Corporation or ships from Astater Oil going to them. Astater still didn't know about Black Rock's motive so they could play the good guy for a while and get near the compitition and their ships. If it wasn't for that the smirk slowly growing upon Arthur's face would not have been there.

"They have done it to themselves. You know what to do, Jack"

That was all that Claudius said as he recieved the news that the government of Astater was going against them. They would pay dearly for their insolence, and their meager task forces would soon be brushed aside, just like so many other navies that have tried to stand against the Corporation. This would hopefully be in and out, and the nation of Astater would remember this day as the day when their government had the chance for peace, but lost it for greed.

Admiral Lucius Ironclaw was called upon once again, and he was to take the Griffincrest 1st Fleet out to yet another mission. It had been sometime since Lucius was called upon, and he was just beginning to really settle into the new peaceful life out on his own little island off the coast of Egyptiansstan. He always knew, however, in the back of his mind, that the peace would not last forever. He was lounging in his jacuzzi when the Egyptiansstanni slave brought him the phone. Reluctantly, he climbed from the hot tub, and dressed himself in his admiral's uniform, and headed for his car. It was going to be yet another of the countless campaigns against an arrogant, insignificant nation that decided they were going to take a stand and try and defend themselves.

Within a few hours, the massive first fleet was on the move. Hundreds of ships, from the massive flagship of the fleet, the Kraken class dreadnought Luxuria down to the tiny Um al Maradim assault ships that dotted the picket line. The forces of Astater meant nothing to Lucius as he reviewed his maps and the disposition of the enemy fleet around the Orange Islands. He knew that before his fleet was even anywhere newar the Orange Islands, however, that the Corporation would be making their first strike.

The Griffincrest Rapid Reaction Forces, or GRRF, were already waiting just outside of the maritime boundary of Astater, and had been there since the first claim of oil being found. Upon recieving the news that the main fleet was moving to engage Astaterian forces, the four stealth ships were authorized to attack. In a massive barrage, forty eight Tomahawk cruise missile fired out of the ships. Their target, the capitol city of Astater, and its major government and military structures, Before anybody would have time to react, the ships were gone, the only evidence of them ever being in the area was the destruction in the capitol.

Within the 1st Fleet, several thousand mercenaries were preparing to unload in the Orange Islands, and possibly even Astater proper. If the Astaterian forces caused enough problems, the entire nation of Astater was going to become a battlefield, with the 2nd and 3rd fleets preparing to move out as well if necessary.

The Ministry of Peace, the Ministry of Trade, and the Central Ministry are currently finalising the monetary transfer now, and this will be completed within 30 minutes in strict accordance to both Agrandan an international procedures.

This proportion of the islands is acceptable to us, assuming that the islands are contiguous with no foreign or neutral islands in the midsts of the new Agrandan archipelago. This new colony is now officially an external province of the Agrandan Empire, and in all respects will be regarded as an a most glorious representative of the Empire itself. All ocean within 40 nautical miles of the shore is now Agrandan water, and will be treated as sovereign territory by all other factions.

Any unlawful violations of Agrandan territory will result in immediate and deadly action from the Agrandan Imperial Navy; specifically the First Fleet has been dispatched and will arrive in 24 hours. Ground forces will also be present to safeguard Agrandan interests.

I, The Majestic Emperor of the Central State, thank you personally for your swift and sincere transaction. Foreign businesses will naturally be allowed to operate within these islands - henceforth known as New Droskev - providing that they do not violate Agrandan Colonial Law.

The midday sun peaked over the coastal Mavot City, as onlookers gathered on Silver Beach to watch the Imperial warships travel towards the horizon. A quarter of the Agrandan Imperial Navy would be sent to secure the islands, as over 1,000 assorted ships made way to their destination. The vast majority of this force would return to Agrandov once they were certain everything was under control, although a significant portion of ground troops would be stationed on the islands. Of the ships sent, 582 of them were combat ships and over 300 were dedicated supply vessels.

Civilian and corporate shipping also set out, holding rich sight-seers wanting to see the latest Imperial province, as well as hopeful workers who had heard tales of these bounteous islands. Some were going there to live and work, some were interested in holidays, and a fair number were reporters looking for the story behind this extravagant purchase. The corporate shipping was different, as they were smaller, faster ships full of surveyors and managers of all varieties, ready to carve up New Droskev for its natural resources. Every corporation that had contributed received a proportionate claim of the islands, although he Agrandan government would hold ultimate jurisdiction.

Army and corporate engineers would set about building airports and accommodation, and then people would be flown in from Agrandov to support the generation of a working province. The original population would be put under Agrandan law or transported to Astater if they objected, and large corporate campaigns were planned throughout Astater itself to encourage the people to migrate to New Droskev.

Admiral Rankin of the First Fleet looked at his detailed and specific orders once more, committing them to memory. The fleet had standing orders to engage all Aligarian ships within range, although they were specifically instructed to not fire upon vessels belonging to the Griffencrest Corporation or it's parent nation.

By noon the next day, a new flag would fly over half of the Orange Islands, and an efficient and industrious wave of personnel would set about the construction of a working province. These islands would be seen as a valuable asset to the Agrandan government, and no commitment was too great to defend New Droskev from those who would seek to steal it.

Dear sir I know our companies aren't very fond of each other nor do we have decent human respect to each other but there is a time and a place for everything. And now I think this is the time and Astater is the place. We are both prosperous corporations are we not? I think maybe we should team up this time up. Astater hates us and is disregarding our offer when we were one of the first to reply. That annoys me severely. So how would you like if our companies took down those fields? We split it %50 %50, while you go ahead and conquer the land and kill the damned Astaterians, while my men hold off all outside communications and stop the fuckers from Orbath Oil, Metrolia Oil Corporation, Angrandov, Oil Durnovaria Resources, and Exxon-Drecca from getting to the fields and Orange Islands. The Dominion of Emperor Pudu has taken a recent interest in your nation, and specifically, the company known as Astater Oil Incorporated, and the Orange Islands archipelago. Although the Dominion does not want for fuel, the Dominion does always seek to expand.

Therefore, with the observations to the effect that eight of the fourteen Orange Islands have been purchased in the recent past by foreign governments, the Dominion and it's Emperor would like to extend an offer to secure the transfer of the six remaining islands to Pudite hands.

Upon purchase of the islands, the land will be considered the express property of the Dominion of Emperor Pudu, and all residents and resources therein, and within forty nautical miles (to maintain continuity with those with standing purchases) are to be considered Pudite in name and fact.

We hope you will consider our offer, and make the right decision.

Astater capitol, New Wlimborg

The military communications center suffered little damage, due to being surrounded by vacated buildings. But the Presidential building was badly damaged, luckily, the president was out on a tour of the east coast. 10 other buildings were destroyed or damaged by the attack. The Astater fleets were ready for battle also.

62nd Independent Mixed Battle Group, 3,500km from Astater

The flag of the 62nd Independent MBG was HMS Arsenal, an Ark Royal Class Aircraft Carrier, and when flying the Questarian ensign, an expression of the sea power employed by the Empire. Its task force, centred on itself and four smaller carriers and four 'AS Shooters' with associated escorts was, all in all, under thirty ships but packed a punch many times larger than its own. Last year the Questarian Navy had restarted its international patrols, signalling to the world that it was once again going to begin involving itself in foreign affairs, and in support of Empire and Allied operations. One such task that Questers liked to involve itself was defence of the free market.

Crowded round the Planning Room of the Arsenal were a number of senior officers with a secure, satellite-based C4I datalink to the Admiralty back in Jesselton. "What you want me do, essentially, is stop a multi-hundred ship task group from annexing this tiny nation?" The Task Group's Commander, Admiral Anson, stared down the large webcam screen as he asked his C.O, almost half the world away.

Fleet Admiral Roberts nodded. "Precisely. These aren't my orders, but I shan't claim I don't agree with them. Apart from Sixty-Two MBG, your in-theatre assets are twenty-two radar satellites, a squadron of spaceplanes - 452 Squadron, I believe, and Fifty-Four CBG which is a week's sail away. Current EMCON status is D, and you have orders to reconnoitre but not, and I make myself absolutely clear on this, not engage until ordered to. The enemy has no idea of your position and it should be kept that way. That said, I have just been informed you have permission to engage any illuminating radars - and thats' it, Admiral! Jesselton out and God Save the King."

Simultaenously, a short message was declared that unless Griffincrest declared null its intentions to attack Astater, military intervention would be considered to defend the small and sovereign state and keep its oil industry competitive and free.

The battlegroup looped around, receiving the general area of the Griffincrest ships, but keeping their distance from both the assumed area of the enemy and the Astater shore by about 2000 klicks. With fighters and AEW aircraft in the air, the battlegroup still held its emissions at zero, with all their radars turned off and only ESM and RWR online. They cruised at speed and waited for contact from H.Q, who would fill them on in the diplomatic situation.

AWAC Rotor Head, 30,000ft, Near Questarian Fleet

The EV-22 AWAC flew through the clear sky a good distance from it's home carrier. The plane's radar was set on passive, scanning the sky for active emitters and not actively putting out a signal, the only thing keeping the aircraft informed of it's position was a GPS uplink and map, also a very short range IFF was left on.

The pilots scanned the surrounding area with a belly mounted camera kit, it's powerful magnification giving excellent resolution at long range.

Lt. Alucard Anderson was in charge of the camera and began to scan the sea to his east, a few minutes in he spotted the tail end of a fleet.

"Captain, I'm counting just a hair under thirty unidentified ships to our 3 o'clock, looks about 100 km out can we move in for a closer look?"

"Hmm, they aren't registering on our radar at all, but I am getting a faint IR signature, we'll move in closer to identify. Drop altitude to 5000ft, and set a course to intercept."

About 20 minutes later the craft pulled along side the fleet, 5000ft up and a few miles out, it's IFF still broadcasting.

"Looks to be a Questarian naval group." Said the Lt.

"Send them a message before they decide we're hostile." Said the captain to the comms man.

To: Foreign Office of Astater
From: Mr. White, foreign affairs officer

The Dominion of Emperor Pudu hereby gives you permission to land whatever forces prudent to service the evacuation of your civilians, provided that they do so, and do not remain longer than a period of one week. In such time, a force of Imperial Navy warships will be present, and will take over any and all operations on the islands. Any foreign personnel remaining at that point will be forcibly ejected.

The Dominion has no worries regarding the approaching Griffincrest fleet.

Good day,
Mr. White.

---- ---- ---- ----

To: Admiral Lucius Ironclaw of the Griffincrest Corporation
From: Mr. White, foreign affairs officer

The Dominion of Emperor Pudu extends greetings to your esteemed personage, and would like to extend further an offer to your fleet and soldiers;

In the past, the Dominion of Emperor Pudu has interacted favorably with the Griffincrest Corporation, and in this spirit of cooperation, the following agreement is proposed.

The Dominion has recently come into possession of six of the Orange Islands off the coast of the small nation of Astater. Observing your fleet's progression, we have come to believe that it is these islands that were an objective of your fleet, and therefore, we firstly extend condolences. Secondly, we offer the services of these islands to the Griffincrest fleet, in that your ships have the Emperor's blessing to make port wherever possible, and make use of the islands for as long as you require.

As it is, your taskforce is likely to arrive prior to the Imperial Navy's own force with which we intend to secure the islands, and so until then, we cannot offer you any aid, and indeed, when the Orange Islands Group arrives, we intend only to offer the right to make port and make use of what supplies are necessary. We offer defense while within our territorial waters, and while making use of our hospitality, but beyond our sovereign realm, we will offer no assistance.

Also, in regards to the natural resources of the six islands belonging to the Emperor; they are entirely Pudite, and are not to be disturbed. Perhaps, in the future, an agreement can be made regarding Orange Islands trade, should you come into possession of any such islands.

In short, we offer you a safe respite, but nothing else. And, although we are quite certain these are not your intents, we do stand willing and capable of defending our claim against any comers.

Good day,
Mr. White.

---- ---- ---- ----

Meanwhile, thousands of miles distant, there assembled a fleet. It was not a large fleet, nor commanded by a particularly intimidating admiral; it was just a fleet. Comprised of sixty-five ships and under the care of Imperial Navy Fleet Admiral Petr Sabanskoi, it was destined for the six islands of the Orange Archipelago that now belonged to his Emperor and state.

Sabanskoi was a veteran of Chitzeland, where he commanded a battlecruiser sinking supply convoys in the south Chitze Sea, but this was to be his first appointment as a commander of a fleet. Accompanying him was his old ship, the Helina-class battlecruiser Repentant, along with three of it's like.

Also leaving port with the Admiral were four small amphibious transport ships, each bearing a brigade of Naval Infantry, to garrison the islands until such a time as it was fully annexed into the Dominion, and received a proper colonial fleet and garrison.

The centerpiece of the fleet was for now, the Roydia-class battleship Divine Quietude, who, along with the four battlecruisers and a pair of light carriers, would be the heaviest deterrent against encroachment on the newly Pudite islands available until such a time as a proper colonial fleet could be raised, and that would take months. So, for now, Sabanskoi was to be alone and far from help in likely hostile waters. This was compounded by the fact that the Foreign Affairs Office had informed the Admiral that he was to provide sanctuary - and enforce it - for an old partner of the Dominion, here to stir up just the sort of trouble he did not need...

He could only hope it would be enough to serve as a deterrent or, in dire need, a defense force, against any attack that may come...

05 DJM, aboard the JNS Dalanlu, approx. 37oo km from Astater EEZ

For being such a small room, there was a remarkable amount of empty space, even given how much junk seemed to clutter it; most of it was either tucked away in some hidey-hole or stuck on the white-panelled walls. The bookcase behind the bed added to the impression of clutter, as it was jam-packed with various naval history books, political science texts, the Bible, the Quran, the Book of Mormon and the Karma Sutra, and knick-knacks that had been acquired and never thrown away. There was an antique compass, a Geiger counter from No Endorse with a display screen going into the millions of rads (which attracted the compass no matter how far apart on the ship he put them), a globe of the Earth with a lion sejant atop it, with various brass bars in front of it so that the only way to turn it was to move the lion, a set of hand-crafted fishing lures, his basic hygiene kit, an onyx pen with platinum insets (in its box, of course, with the monogram of King George of Praetonia on it), and numerous other things. On the walls were stuck many more mementos—a very nice officer's sabre (a gift from a Questarian friend in the Royal Navy), a "liberated" flag from a Hatarian merchant that had moored too close to the Dalanlu, a photograph of his crew on deck, a photograph of his first command, a beer glass from Kampfers (and a hidden stash of beer from the same place, though that was not on the wall), a DVD player inset into the wall, and, of course, his framed commission certificate. A picture of his wife and four children was on his desk, as was his cap. His jacket was hanging up in a tiny closet to the left, and his pants were simply folded over the end of his bed.
+++"He" was Admiral Teng Aidao, the commander of 5 Duì Jūnjiàn de Mǔjiàn and its attached warfare groups, and was currently being hounded to respond to a very insistent call from the Navy Office in Qingan. He coughed, got up onto his elbow, and swung himself out from his bed. Thankfully, he'd not had much sleep, and had showered before he took his shift off from the bridge, and so did not bother to worry about his scent as he tossed on his pristinely-white uniform and smoothed out the wrinkles. Satisfied after a cursory inspection, he manoeuvred himself out of his quarters, breaking into a swift jog toward the bridge.
+++He arrived in the planning room—a windowless, grey-walled conference room with nonetheless comfortable seats and an oak-outlined black marble table—at a walk, just as others were beginning to file in, herded there by the loudspeaker at Teng's order. He nodded to his aide, who had materialized at his side somewhere along the way, as soon as everyone was in the room, who then brought up Vice Admiral Liang Mingtian's face on the flatscreen. Liang began right away, obviously anxious about something. Those standing quickly found seats and watched in rapt attention.
+++"Naval Intelligence has uncovered—" He coughed, and might have rolled his eyes. "—another Griffincrest takeover, this time in Astater. Bloc Hsaio has more than it cares to lose invested in the country, and a senior representative has asked us to intervene to protect their assets. They have provided us with their own satellite network for this operation, in addition to our own in the area—" A stream of data crawled across the sidebar, listing designations, statuses and locations; a copy of this information would be sent to the CIC and from there distributed to the rest of the task force. "—and the 62 MBG from Questers and the Skyian 49 CBG are in position, from what we know of their fleet movements prior to EMCON shut-down. We are working back here to coordinate all this with their Admiralties, but do not assume that they know you are friendly unless told otherwise. You are to proceed under EMCON 0, and you are authorized to locate targets, but do not fire upon them or make yourself known unless there are no other choices. Be aware that...er, 'Emporer Pudu' is trying to get something together, but we estimate that it will be twelve to sixteen days before they arrive. Their intentions are not yet known, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to ascertain this—you will, of course, be apprised of developments. There you have it Admiral: good fortune go with you." The transmission was cut, and Teng and his associates got to work, first passing on the order to run quiet to their commands.
+++Soon, F/A-15E strike fighters were prowling the airspace around the task force, supported by AEW aircraft and ASW helicopters. Their crews were familiar with Questarian and Skyian IFF codes, and so long as they hadn't changed in the past month, there would be—one would hope, if they wanted to go back to bed, food and/or HBO—no unfortunate misunderstandings.
+++While Teng got his task force ready, back in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Qingan, the diplomatic staff had sent off a modification of a stock letter, prepared for just such an occasion (given that it happened so often), vaguely informing the Griffincrest government that Jeuna planned to intervene on behalf of Astater, though it did not mention Bloc Hsaio.

It was now looking as if the 2nd and 3rd fleets would be needed after all. The first fleet began to slow its speed as it waited for the 3rd fleet to rendezvous, and together they would move on Astater proper, the Orange Islands were now all claimed and Griffincrest left out of the deal. The 2nd fleet was ordered to intercept the fleet from Jeuna before it could meet up with the Questerian and Skyan fleets.

Admiral Ironclaw watched over the satelite displays as they informed him of the new fleets massing. The Astaterian fleet was of no consequence to the Griffincrest fleet, and he would soon have them dealt with as well. He sent out a message to Arthur Grant, the CEO of the oil company out of Aligar, and informed him that an attack on Astaterian positions were necessary, and it would be supported by Griffincrest Khan missile launches should they be required.

Meanwhile, the 2nd fleet was on the move to get to the Jeunese vessels. Their mission was to prevent these vessels from linking up with the main allied fleet. Taking the Jeunese out of the war early would give the Corporation the numerical advantage in the situation, and that would hopefully be enough to turn the tides of the conflict.

A message was soon sent to the Admiral of the fleet of Jeuna.

"Turn back your fleet and head home. You have no part here and it will not be worth the loss of your sailors to continue on your current path."

[OOC: Blackhelm, if a fleet doesn't have any sensors switched on then you can't pick it up with RADAR satellites, and I really doubt that even if you do have people consistently trawling the ocean with photosatellites that they will be lucky enough to find a fleet as small as the ones we are operating with any degree of accuracy at all. In short, unless you conduct some real surveillance that isn't just "I SATELLITE SPOT U" then you aren't going to be knowing we're there.]

There's a peculiar disparity between a figure of speech and its actual meaning.

You may have been told that satellites are "eyes in the sky". That, being machines equipped with camera lenses -- which bear only vague resemblances to the interior structure of the eye -- they are thus infallible, all-seeing. In reality, a satellite can't "see" anything; it has no brain to process and understand the images. The most powerful computer attached to it still can't analyse them perfectly well, and machines malfunction much more frequently than brains. In short: a satellite sees only as much as the person watching its feed.

One Lieutenant Jordan, who was not sharp as nails -- in fact, no surface on his body was capable of penetrating several inches of plaster when tapped with a hammer; and if one refers to his intelligence, he was certainly much sharper than a nail, given that nails have no nervous systems in the slightest -- but was nonetheless relatively observant, was the first individual in the Democratic Imperium of Siev to notice that several fleets were passing into a none-too-distant area of the Pacific. And his satellite's camera was powerful enough to zoom in and view the markings on the ships of the fleet.

The astute Lieutenant examined the images carefully and searched for the prefix on his computer. The fleet was identified as belonging to the Griffincrest Corporation.

At first Lieutenant Jordan was convinced this had to be a typo. Was Griffincrest Corporation merely the name of an over-privatized nation, perhaps one whose economy was supported by this Griffincrest Corporation in exchange for the name change and free advertising? No, as it turned out, Griffincrest Corporation was an actual corporation, albeit one apparently large and profitable enough (worth as much as a small country) to run its own private military forces. In short, these fleets were under the control of a legal person.

Lieutenant Jordan was now curious: what exactly were the ships doing? There appeared to be quite a few of them, and their profiles matched those of warships. It could just be a military exercise, but it could also indicate that an international incident was going over, either as a result of the ill-thought actions of a hyperactive national leader or for some kind of gain or profit. Or both. Jordan instructed four more satellites to sweep the radius for additional ships, and what must have been a bajillion kilometers up, they complied, moving into preset orbit patterns to photograph the sea. As for Jordan himself, he ultimately was to punch out and drive home in his Amiens Principio to his wife and three children.

Twenty-four hours later, when Jordan returned to the satellite operations center after casually mentioning the incident to his boss (a Major-General George Stanley), the satellites had completed their survey of the area. Jordan quickly skimmed through the photographs on the computer, most of which depicted open sea or occasionally islands; to make his task simpler, he employed an intelligent search function. And lo and behold, in no more than thirty-six of over twelve hundred thousand frames, the profiles of ships became visible.

Any competent commander will spread out his fleets enough that isolated satellite images cannot easily indicate that a fleet is present. In only three of the thirty-six frames did Questarian vessels appear; and had one of them not displayed an aircraft carrier, Jordan might never have so much as suggested that the Questarian vessels made up anything but a standard merchant marine shipment. As it is a total of five ships appeared in the three photographs, but here the presence of the human helped: Jordan knew well that four ships would not alone escort an aircraft carrier of the Arsenal's size, and an examination of public data available on the IQN confirmed this.

In two more frames did further ships appear; these, slightly closer together, were not Questarian, and their ensigns appeared to be Silver Skyian. It was impossible for Jordan to tell whether these ships formed part of a Skyian naval fleet or merely happened to be passing through the area; but the presence of what might have been airplanes around the ships, as though flying a combat air patrol, indicated some kind of military nature to the excursion -- and the profiles of the ships matched those of destroyers. Mentally, Jordan marked them down as "probables".

The rest of the ships were either small isolated convoys or docked ships at ports in the several island nations within the survey area. The largest of the fleets appeared to be positioned around the nation of Astater and appeared to be conducting military exercises of some description. Jordan ignored the islands for the time being and informed his boss.

Now the matter went to the diplomats. They saw that the Griffincrest Corporation's fleet was vastly larger than anything else in the region, including the home fleets of most of the islands; indeed, to many it seemed improbable that a corporation could field such forces without the financial backing and logistical assistance of friendly nations. The Questarian fleet, by comparison, was estimated at anywhere between 20 and 50 vessels; the Skyian fleet was overlooked for the time being primarily because its existence was unconfirmed, but the satellites were instructed to return to the positions at which they had found the ships and hold geosynchronous orbit.

Then the diplomats did their research, and uncovered the wealth of communiqués, messages, and dispatches. The situation was now clear; the Griffincrest fleets were moving in either to claim or to attack portions of Astater, and a brief dispatch from Questers seemed to indicate lukewarm support for Astater against the Corporation: hence the Questarian fleet was probably present in order to observe the proceedings and step in should its government order it to do so.

Siev, on the other hand, had other ideas. Intelligence had done its research: the Griffincrest Corporation was, much like an insistent woodpecker, not something Siev particularly wanted to have in its back yard. Within a few thousand kilometers of Astater's Orange Islands there were the offshore drilling operations of Mayflower Ltd, and perhaps a hundred and fifty klicks further, the sunny beaches of the Island of Avalon.

Official Communication to the Griffincrest Corporation CEO and/or Board of Directors

To Whom it may concern;

The Sovereign Democratic Holy Parliamentary Galactic Confederate Constitutional Royal Imperium of Siev, Kash, and Avalon, as the dominant power in this region, finds the intrusion of Griffincrest Corporation military forces into the region rather worrying, especially as the Corporation displays no sign of commitment to ideals of national sovereignty, the free market, and national honour.

Therefore, the Sievic Imperium has no choice but to request that the Corporation withdraw all illegal claims of sovereignty over land, economic interests, or resources within the region and, if it must maintain a military presence, not deploy more than one hundred surface vessels either civilian, logistical, or combat, including no aircraft carriers or battleships, and no nuclear submarines; no more than six hundred aircrafts either civilian, logistical, or combat, including no strategic bombers; and no transport ships nor aircrafts for ground forces. Failure to comply will require the Imperium to take further action, including but not limited to warfare through financial and technological areas, or whatsoever else the Imperium sees fit to undertake.

The Griffincrest 1st fleet was now within Khan missile range of the Astaterian fleet. Hopefully, the Griffincrest armada could get its troops on land before the enemy fleets could intervene, where would quickly win the ground war and then watch as the naval conflict played out. As the Corporate fleet closed with its enemy, they begin to load their missiles into the specially made launchers placed aboard the Kraken class dreadnoughts. Within minutes, the sky would be alight with the glow of the burners on the masive missiles.

"Sir, Astaterian fleet is within range of Khan's. Also within range of our aircraft. What is the order" asked an officer within the 1st fleet. Admiral Ironclaw looked over the maps and coordinates being broadcast to him via a satelite feed.

"Keep the aircraft for fleet defense. We don't know what the Questerians are holding. Fire thirty Khans at the fleet, and then send the message demanding the surrender of Astater to Griffincrest"

The officer gave a quick salute, in the traditional Exponential manner, and then hurried off to the missile crew with his new orders. It would not be long before Astater would break. The only thing in the way of a total Corporate takeover was the Coalition that was forming against Griffincrest. Hopefully, however, they would not arrive in time.

The Griffincrest 1st Fleet was now preparing to close for combat with the Astaterian ships. The massive guns on the Kraken class dreadnought were being loaded and men ran about their ships, loading guns and preparing for the order to fire. Meanwhile, another volley of missiles was being prepared, this time of the much shorter ranged P-700 Granit missiles. A massive salvo of well over four hundred missiles soon tore from the Griffincrest armada, their destination was the escort vessels of the Astaterian fleet, the destroyers and the cruisers that were providing cover for the larger ships.

While these missiles were tearing loose from their cells, aircraft were being prepared aboard the decks of the carriers throughout the fleet, and men were beginning to pile down into their transport ships. It would not be very long at all now before they would be making their way to the shore, and if all went well, Astater would be under Griffincrest control by the weekend.

As the Griffincrest missiles were being fired, the Astaterian fleet fired a volley of 300 missiles very similar to the Khans. that just destroyed some of their ships. Astaterian missile platforms fired hundreds of missiles to prevent the enemy missiles from getting to the Astaterian fleet, but still, 2 destroyers, one cruiser, 1 frigate were sunk, 2 more destroyers heavily damaged. F-35s and F-22 Raptors took off the the orange Island airfields and the carriers.

The Khan duplicate launch had caught the 1st Fleet off guard. They were in no way prepared for this tiny back water nation to possess such advanced weaponry. Still, it was not as though the fleet was defenseless against the oncoming weapons. A virtual wall of lead and missiles began to go up over the fleet as thousands of CIWS systems and anti-missile batteries began to fill the sky in their attempts to defend their fleet.

Despite even the best efforts of the fleet, still a pocket battleship and two Neptune class cruisers were destroyed, and the Kraken took a near miss as the Astaterian missile was destroyed only a few hundred yards above the ship. The explosion and ensuing debris had cost the lives of several sailors, and Admiral Ironclaw was now furious that even his own ship could be targeted by these people. He looked ahead, and noticed that the Astaterians were now within range of the guns of the fleet. Soon, his voice was heard going into the bridges of every ship in the fleet. "Fire as soon as you get into range. All ships in range right now, fire after I do." Seconds later, the massive dreadnought exploded to life, its tremendous cannons flinging shells hundreds of miles an hour towards the enemy fleet.

The launch of Astaterian aircraft was noted by the admiral as well, and he was quick to rush his own aircraft to the skies to counter the new threat. Dozens of the new FA-15 Cardinal Advanced Strike Fighters, the most advanced fighter aircraft in the Griffincrest arsenal, began blasting off from their carriers, determined to sweep the enemy from the sky and establish air superiority quickly. To support them, the Skynet SAM batteries in the fleet began targetting the Astaterian aircraft and launching their missiles skyward. Soon, the air would be full of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of tiny exploding darts.

Oooooooh... Griffencrest 1st fleet...
Thanks for the linky.
Most epicly glorified tag ever.

IC:
Pinkerton stopped pacing and spoke, to nobody in particular, his room had been empty for quite some time now.

"So... Griffencrest Incorporated is still being oppressed by the corprate Alliance to do their dirty work... Two can play at that..."

He rung up for Mendez...

"Mendez, yeah, they back at it, how many forces can you get there for about 10 billion?"

-"Where sir? Who's back at it? The Five Point Militia?"

"... um... one moment, let me double check... NO! Those commie Corprate Alliance B-tards! I want you to liberate Blackhelm Confederacy from their external corruption from the likes of Leafanistan!"

-"Sir, does that mean you won't be attending their annual most impractical weapons convention?"

"What? No, I'll be there, and make sure the big gun is ready this year..."

A young woman walked in with a note...
"Sir, it appears as theough a man called 'Jack Pheonixclaw' is the current puppet of Griffencrest Inc, which we all know is the middle man between Blackhelm and the Communist Alliance..."

"It's called the corprate Alliance..."

-"Oh, sorry sir, it's just that they looked and acted like communists from the reports I've been reading..."

"Then your definition of communism is flawed, true communism is always better than whatever lowife scum they've managed to corrupt themselves into this time."

-"Shall I inform Milo?"

"That won't be necessary. I already have a handle for situations like these... I just hope the monkey doesn't get grease-burns..."

-"I beg your pardon?"

"Ring up Grant, tell him I'll be needing some hard drugies living in Paradise in less than a month... RDRR..."

Exactly, and you know what that means -when I start to make no sense. ^_^
It's a tag, so far I did nothing of consequence besides set some backdrop.
Did you want me to do something?

And here's the link that led me here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13594952&postcount=213)
Yes, I know that thread was a joke, but it was in continuity...
I also didn't forget when you sent my fleets home.

And I thought you knew Grant was an equal oprotunist?

Well, since OP:WM...
I did a char RP in Mokastana, so now Stratton is dead. In all respects I think I found an interim RPer who gives as much a challange, but now he's any ally, wierd diplomacy FTW!

Antigr made his attempt at a military show of force, except he did his behind closed doors and it ran itself dead in 2 pages and 3 threads.

Greston attemped a war on a newbie and the Leo. I took advantage and set one of those heavily interconnected threads into motion that nobody pays attention to.

Rather than let ANOTT (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=552791) go to waste because nobody was too interested in attacking Volzgrad (not sure if Mok got the memo or if he's waiting for it to become relavent), I'm considering the idea of rezzing the thread by changing the target from Volz+Leo to you. Which screws with the idea of IC posting here a bit.

Since it did kinda happen in your section of TKT.
And yes, I did just off 4 characters in the first IC post.
List of stuff that was to be involved in ANOTT (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13556422&postcount=6)
C. Darville was a Khornate Tribesman, the doctors were Hurtian and Stilson was Chitzi, if that helps you make some sense of it.
But as noted, such things are not to be considered uncommon, and Grant can grease an awful lot of palms.
And before you start wishing I kept Alexandria on the team, don't (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=552519).

Your call still, and I'm pretty sure he's waiting for something IC to happen.
Oh, right, Astater's turn...

Hundreds of missiles were fired at the enemy superdreadnaught as the enemy missile hit some of the "fake destroyers". Astaterian fighters went to action with the enemy aircraft, one battleship was badly damaged by the enemu superdreadnaught.

OOC: Would my nation know about Silver Sky and Questers being involved in this conflict? Has any of that been aired internationally?

IC: Andre Romell was furious. There was oil to be had and a private military was taking it all for itself--for free. The MDC would not stand for it. He called his business partner Eric Wright and asked him to order the readiment of two aircraft carriers, ninety battleships and one hundred and fifty destroyers, as well as the placement of all military personnel on high alert, for preparation to deploy. The free market was not a joke to the Free Market Network.

Lt. Wade McClusky stared at the video monitor in disbelief. One of North Point's KH-11 spy satellites was positioned in almost perfect geosynch orbit with the ongoing battle between Astater and the Blackhelm Confederacy.

"Son of a bitch," he said softly. One of the technicians heard him and murmured agreement.

The plasma screen TV showed missile contrails, gunfire, explosions, and several burning ships disappearing beneath the waves. He switched the camera to infrared as a layer of clouds obscured several Astaterian destroyers. IR showed an enormous contact towards the north.

One of the techs winced as the contact became even brighter -- anti-ship missiles, and lots of them.

"Bastards," he said out loud. As far as he was concerned, the Blackhelm Confederacy and Griffincrest were a bunch of assholes.

"Lieutenant, that's a superdreadnaught. Looks like the Kraken -- reporting name Phoenix," the tech said, after taking off his headset.

"Talk about fuckin' overkill."

Time to brief the section chief, he thought. "Record this," he ordered. This would make international news tonight. He retrieved his laptop and walked towards the elevator.

IC:

The missile spam on the Kraken was in poor form. The Kraken was in the centre of the fleet for a reason, and had a virtual wall of anti-missile systems from the entire rest of the fleet to defend it. A few pieces of shrapnel managed to make impact, however, and a few sailors on the deck where killed or wounded.

Shells were smashing back and forth between the fleets, and several Rajput and Charon class destroyers were sending up thick clouds of smoke, and many were heavily listing. The water was now filled with blood, oil, and men, and the air was filled by shells and missiles. The heavily outnumbered Astaterian fleet would soon be crushed by the sheer size and volume of the shells that were being spat out by the Griffincrest fleet.

Hundreds of fighters were in the air as well. These were not the regular old F-4's and Gnats of usual Griffincrest campaigns. These were top of the line Cardinals, purchased from the Candrian Empire. The Astaterians would have little hope of winning this conflict. The option of surrender was still on the table.

The sixty four Rajput destroyers and eight pocket battleships are lined up nearly stern to bow in in a semi circle unloading a full broadside out onto the Astaterian fleet, and the one hundred and twenty Um al Maradim assault ships are attempting to intermingle with the Astaterians and unload at point blank range with their 40mm batteries.

The rest of the fleet is very well spread behind the semi circle in a box formation with about a hundred yards between each ship, providing supportive fire for the ships on the semi circle.
