As I enter the room, I cannot help but be impressed by the Furnishings, I walked across the Crimson Red carpeting towards my Contact, Herr Oberst. His chest Ravenously Decorated with Medals and Campaign ribbons, he sits in a Tall Black leather bound chair, motioning for me to sit in one across from him. I am here to speak with him about an Outbreak near an obscure Outpost in Numonica. We exchange pleasantries.

Could you tell me Oberst, How it all Started?
The Outbreak started during a routine patrol of a Civilian Sector, Two squads of five Capitol Police with an APC support vehicle... the big ones, the Eight wheelers, you might have seen them on the news...Their orders were to simply keep a watch on the streets, guarding the Government Buildings, (this was during an Occupation, The Government was still in place but under The Kraven Military Arm), Simple stuff, it was only a small village as well, only about 500 people in the area...

At about 5:00pm, the patrol entered the town, and at 5:30 the Patrol radioed the Command HQ for the area requesting instructions, the Trooper didn't really know what to say, other than he simply repeated what the Woman had said to him....Hmmm, I remember it well... I found it really... strange coming from a Trooper... (JKW 1123 was his serial Number) "Trooper, JKW 1123 Reporting, My baby... My baby.... its been attacked by something...." We were quite surprised by what we were hearing and brought up the screen…

The woman was cradling a small child and screaming at the trooper, she was covered in blood, so we Ordered the Patrol to lock down the area, they set up barbed wire and asked the woman to take them to where the child was attacked....She led them into a house a few rows down to where the door had been nailed shut, inside (Through the Troopers audio system) we could hear the smashing of glass and what sounded like someone fighting...

Was it standard Kraven Procedure to lockdown the area?
Yes, it always is, if anything kicks off, like a disturbance or possible Thought Crimes, we lock the area down, A patrol doesn't have the facilities for a proper lock down, so its whats known as an Emergency Lock Down, or ELD.

What did the Troopers do exactly?
What they would normaly do in this kind of situation... kick down the door, locate the aggressors and drag them outside, or Kill them inside...

But this time was different..
Well, yes of course... they overpowered the man inside, albeit with some difficulty, we were quite worried we'd never seen someone manage to knock a Trooper off his feet and then crawl on top, clawing at the chest plate, it was like an animal..., but the other four in his squad quickly dragged the man off him and outside, where they quickly put two or three .50cal rounds in his chest...

What effect did the rounds have?
Nothing, once they let go of his body, it quickly got back up, and lept at another Trooper, it jumped onto his back.... heh... I keep calling them, He as though it was an Actual person.... but I dunno, for all that they lack personalities and emotions you do kind of get attached to them after a while..

No Personalty?...
No, do you not know of the Capitol Police Programme?

I'm sorry sir, I am Unaware, would you mind explaining?
The Capitol Police were no ordinary soldiers, they didn't have names, and didn't have families they weren't born, they were grown, in human wombs, woman practicaly destroyed to create nothing more than these soldiers until they became infertile and were destroyed, the Troopers had no personality, and no emotions, they couldn't be bargined with, reasoned with, they would show no mercy, or malice...

Inhuman..
They were unconditionally loyal and couldn't disobey an order...Yes... exactly.. Inhuman.... Ironic really... the Undead attacking things that were for all intents and purposes... undead as well...

Tell me Sir, What happend next?
They dragged the man off him again, but this time they ended it with a bullet to the head and that finished him off, he didn't get up after that. We ordered the Woman’s child to be executed, incase what ever this man had was infectious... then ordered the buildings surrounding the first case to be burnt down. The Troopers were ordered to complete the Patrol and return to base for the Debrief.

Was this case Isolated?
No, it wasn't the first case, it was just a straggler from the larger town nearby.

Larger Town? what was going on there?
More infections, A Patrol reported in, just after the case in the village, We hadn't a clue what was going on, The High Command was of no help, they just said it was Thought Crime propaganda and it should be ignored and told us to order the Capitol Police to eradicate the threat..

Eradicate as in.…
Eradicate... Send in a Platoon with armored support and level the town...We started shelling the town from afar with long range artillery at 630PM.

But the Civilians...
They were of no concern, We were ordered to do it, so we deployed and went about doing it.

Surely you had to enter the town to mop up..
Yes, we did... The Platoon waits until the Shelling has finished, its a Terror tactic, we lay waste to the town from afar, its supposed to mimic the hand of Kraven striking out at whim...

But it wouldn’t work to that effect..
Well, no not really... there was no one really to terrorize, yeah, sure the Civilians were scared, but they were looking at us to help them, and all we did was shell the living shit out of the town... we kept the shelling up for Two days before we moved in, by the end of day two, we were shelling nothing more the dust and rubble...

And the Mop up?
Chaos.

Elaborate...
The Platoon rolled in, armored tanks, APC's and Troopers armed with MG42's, the shelling had reduced the town into rubble, it took us hours to get across the first section of the town, most of the tanks were left behind as they couldn't cross the craters, so most of the Platoon were on foot or on APC, they were the only vehicles that could scale the craters…Problem is, the infestation was quite high, the town had been nearly compromised when we started shelling it, so the ones we hadn't killed had been blown to bits, and left crawlers...

Crawling Dead.
Yes, exactly... they caused the most casualties, the Troopers would enter a street and they would be under rubble and just come out of nowhere.. The CP armor saved a lot of Troopers, but even then most of them that were caught by the crawlers were killed, their armor torn off and then ripped apart. We had to fall back and call in reinforcements, we hadn't a clue what we were dealing with...I ordered the Hunter Killer squads sent in, and we mopped up.

Hunter Killer Squads?
Squads configured with flamethrowers. Hioctane fuel, it burns much hotter than a normal flamethrower, its a little like a cutting torch that fires a jet of flame across about 20 to 30ft.

Was this effective?
Yes, it was simple, we moved them in and they road on the back of the APC's away from the crawlers, and used the flamethrowers until the undead were nothing more than charred flesh, took a long time though, we literally had to reduce them to ash...

So Mission Accomplished.
Yes, we didn't realize that they were undead, until after the operation when wounded CP died then came back to life, we had them isolated however and quickly had them exterminated.

The High Command never acknowledged what went on here, placing it down as an Outbreak of thought Crime, i was promoted to Reichoberst for my actions during the operation, but neither the outbreak or the infestation was ever publicly acknowledged by the High Command, we couldn't warn anyone about the use of High Explosives and the Crawlers.. there was nothing we could do....

Kraven was safe.... that was all that mattered...

Tell be Oberst, how did you come about being sent here?
Haha... its for something totally unrelated... I've witnessed many things, and i've ordered many things too...and eventually.... even that takes its toll....

The Oberst begins to cry, A Nurse enters the room with syringe, I shake his hand, thanking him for the information as I walk out the Door, a sign hung above it.

*applauds*

I hope that [the outbrake] wasn't because of one of [my country's concoctions]...
Um...

Most of the people I had on my zombie-killing groups are either dead or un-persons...
If you wanted to interview other anecdotal stories of outbrakes...

Kinda hard to interview an unperson...
(A person who either had their identity erased for security reasons)

Though I have a very few, but hardly any of them experianced them firsthand.
