97% of the planet is covered by water. There are few islands on the planet, and the islands are grouped together near the north pole. There is a star near the planet, that is close enough to warm Laxer for a long time. Oxygen takes up a large percent of the atmosphere. The few islands are each one hundred thousand square miles. There are also water bases at the bottom of the ocean and floating cities.

57% of the planet's surface area is covered by water. The remaining 43% of the planet are green plains. Oxygen here takes up a large percentage of the planet's atmosphere. Nova Reginix is the capital planet of Greal. The planet's land area are divided into two continents, Terrax and Remina.

The planet is currently inhabited by a large number of Berraxs (See below). The Planet has also of poisonous gases, and the planet has also mostly volcanoes. There are lots of bases on the planet, using geothermal power to power the bases and cities of the Berraxs. Nova Max is currently outside Greal Imperial Jurisdiction, and the planet is governed by a council of Berraxs. The planet has suffered recently from radiation after nuclear strikes on the Berrax cities.

The Republic of Berrax was declared after the Xiscapians and Alversians freed them.

Hurtrix is another ocean planet that has a few large islands. The planet has a large amount of oxygen. Half of the military bases in Greal are on Hurtrix. Hurtrix is a major manufacturing center of the Greal Empire. Hurtrix has the largest shipbuilding yards of any planet in the empire. The planet has the most important trade routes in the Greal Empire.

The whole planet is covered with forest. But there are small oceans on the planet also. It is a popular destination for tourists. Millions of tourists travel to Grux each year to see its massive forests and beautiful oceans. Grux exports more timber then any other planet, combined.

Government of Greal

The government of Greal is basically an empire ruled by the President Emperor. Each planet is ruled by a Governor General. Each District is ruled by a "Lord". Each city is ruled by a mayor appointed by Lords. Lords are normally

The Prison Moons are where most of the Prisoners of the empire are kept, there are around 80 million Prisoners in total around the empire. There are 300,000 executions each year in the empire. Many prisoners who escape find themselves lost in the massive complexes and normally die before escaping. The Greal Prison Administration has an excellent prison watch that alerts them within seconds if s prisoner is missing.


Greal Species

Humans make up 49% of the Greal population. They have influence over the country, half of the richest people in Greal are humans. They have been on Greal for a long time, and will continue to be. Recently, they regained their majority in the population and have aimed to keep Techar numbers down.

Techars

Though Techars are not very strong, and their size limit is 6 feet high, The Techars are very intelligent, and also breed quickly. They currently make up 13% of Greal's population. Some times Techars are black or Gray, they can change their color. Techars do not need much oxygen, some can hold their breath for 24 hours. The Techars descended from ants and flies and other insects recently.


Saurons

31% of the population are Saurons. They are superhumans who were mainly created to kill the enemies of humans.

Galaxs
7% of the population are Galaxs, Galaxs are human like, but have very sharp teeth, and claws, and have no hair. They are one of the smartest species in Greal. Their skin is gray, and Galaxs are very peaceful.

History

Early History

Around three thousand years ago, humans of Greal lived on Nova Reginix. The humans formed nations for two thousand years and fought each other during that time. Then, a thousand years ago, nuclear weapons were used and the planet was nearly unpopulated by it. Humans began building spaceships and had their own colonies. These few nations continued to fight each other until in a series of bloody wars that killed a billion humans. By this time, intelligent aliens began populating Greal and its colonies, living side by side with humans. The humans fought these alien species, and it came to conclusion, the founding of the Galactic Empire of Greal, uniting all the alien species against the humans.

The Galactic Empire of Greal was founded during the civil war period. The humans ruled Greal at the time, Techars were starting to appear around Greal, then, a year after the civil war began, a large force of Techars invaded Greal and fought bitterly for the control of the empire with the humans. The humans gradually lost, since the Techars outnumbered them population wise and the Techars had more ships. The Techars won the war, but the Techars released all the human POWs, and let them settle in Greal. The Humans lived peacefully with the Techars since then, though the humans had to pay thirty-two trillion dollars for the trouble the humans caused the Techars. Fifteen years after the Techar-Human war, the Berraxs appeared. The Berraxs at first wanted control of the empire peacefully, the Techars of course, refused. Another war started, between the Human-Techar coalition and the Berraxs. At the beginning of the war, Berraxs made up Forty five percent of the population, after the war, the percentage dropped to ten percent (But it has risen to thirteen percent in recent years). The Berraxs however managed to control the planet of Nova Max.

The Imitator war

During the second Berrax rebellion, one of Berrax ships mistakenly attacked a powerful empire called the Alliance of the Imitator Worlds. The Berrax ship managed to destroy some of the Imitator fleet in the resulting battle, the Techars were happy to help the Imitators strike at the Berraxs. the combined Imitator and Techar fleet overwhelmed the Berraxs fleet. During the battle, the Techars were beginning talks with a race known as the Xiscapians. They both agreed to wipe out the Imitators, but the Imitator fleet left earlier then expected, and the Greal fleet went forward and damaged some of the Imitator fleet. Millions of Berraxs were killed in nuclear strikes, causing the Xiscapians and Techars to briefly broke ties, and caused a standoff. Eventually, negotiations began, and the Techars agreed to not attack the Berraxs. The combined fleets of Greal and the Xiscapians wiped out all the Imitator planets. except for a few Imitator ships that escaped.

Zillars

After colonizing a system, a species previously unknown attacked Greal's outposts and killed hundreds. The Greal fleet is currently fighting them. Several allies have joined Greal in the war against the Zillars. The war ended after Zillar planets started to become targets. The combined allied fleets attacked the main Zillar world and left it to rot.

Civil War again

During fighting with the Calaverians, the humans had rebelled against their human masters and destroyed the Techar government in a matter of hours. Currently, the humans are exterminating Techars. During the Civil War, the Xiscapian and Alversian fleet drove Greal away from Miller and fought a massive battle at Nova Max. The Greal fleet took some losses, and was forced to retreat. The war quickly ended when the Danaversian Empire attacked Hurtrix, but was forced to withdraw. The Greali quickly ended the war with the Xiscapians and their allies, plus, the Greali were now allies of them.

Galactic Military of Greal

Greal Ship Weapons:


Ion Cannon: Ion cannons are used to damage ship's internal systems, bypassing armor and structure. Due to their electrical charges, they also have the potential to disable electronic devices, vehicles, and anything else that has an electrical or similar power source.
Heavy Ion Cannon: A more powerful version of the Ion Cannon, except that Heavy Ion Cannons are more likely to take down a capital ship's electrical system
AS (Anti Ship) gun: They are powerful blaster guns that fire fast, even though their power is weak. They are used to "shoot down" fighters, drones, probes, missiles, mines, corvettes, shuttles, and boarding ships. The blaster is not powerful enough to destroy a medium sized ship, but it can inflict plenty of damage.
Megabolt Cannon: The Megabolt cannon releases multiple bolts of pure energy at a target. It is one of the most powerful weapons in the Greal fleet.
Small Megabolt cannon: Though Small Megabolt cannons are less powerful then the Megabolt cannon, they are still effective on small ships.
Heavy Megabolt Cannon: A more powerful version of the Megabolt cannon. It can destroy medium sized ships after a few shots, the downside is that they are very expensive to build.
Super laser: Can destroy capital ship easily, though it takes six minutes to charge and seven minutes to cool down after being fired. They are also effective against cities.
Mines: Mines are objects that are placed in formations around in space, if a enemy ship goes near a minefield, the mines fly toward the enemy ship. Mines also "attack" neutral ships. Greal ships are equipped with a special device to 'tell" mines not to "attack" Greal ships.
Neutron Blasters: A stronger version of the Blaster, they are usually useful for battles against small craft.
Hell Fire Torpedoes: The most powerful torpedo/missile in the Greal navy. It usually takes a couple of destroy a capital ship. Hell Fire Torpedoes are also used in assaults on planets, they are very effective against missile batteries and cities.
Anti-Matter torpedo: These torpedoes are used by small craft and sometimes large vessels. They are very effective against any ship.
Hell burners: Powerful enough to burn the whole planet.
Neutronium bombs: Usually used on cities and military bases.
Mauler Superweapon: The most powerful weapon in the Greal naval fleet. It fires a massive Red beam that punches through shields and destroys anything in its path. This weapon is however, highly unstable and is known to destroy a ship its based on. A Mark II version is being developed, and it would feature a new device to stablize the weapon after it fires, making it safer.
Cheron Anti-Missile Platform (System): The Cheron anti-missile platform (System), is the newest, most advanced weapon made by Greali Arms. The system is powerful enough to stop most known enemy missiles. Most large vessels and planets have these systems.
Chalion Field: An FTL field able to prevent enemy ships from jumping in or away, any matter of hyperspace travel. Greal ships are able to jump through it freely. Most large vessels and certain planets have them.

Plasma Shields: Large red bubble like shields that extend meters from ships. These normally would stop most damage from reaching a ship, but as the shield gets weaker, the ship will be hit more often. Normally, if a shield is crucially low, then the ship is usually recharged by crystals, but the more you recharge, the weaker the shield gets.

This post is going to be long...

Was there some sort of Terminator-esque "Revenge of the Robots" background on Greal's story which justifies the massive crew of the larger ships despite the expected levels of automation? Or are those crews almost entirely of space marines defending them against boarders?

I have built a quite array of FT information(See the three links in my signature), including an epic timeline of Solar Communes (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13416356&postcount=8) I have yet to finish, trying to be as close from Hard Sci-fi as possible, now if you're actually going for a space opera(which is the impression I'm having for now), then you can ignore it but maybe this post can help you to have some ideas anyway on how to setup your FT forces.

First there are some serious questions about the utility of MT-sized fighters on space. My smallest craft, which is not a spaceship at all but an orbital point-defense interceptor spaceplane with atmospheric flight capability, is the 65 meters long and 50 meters wide FAI-65 orbital interceptor (http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom/index.php?showtopic=2084), which besides the gamma ray laser(or 30 km/s muzzle velocity gauss cannon), is pretty much PMTish.

For example of crew, here is the crew information of the largest starship I have designed, a sort of battlecruiser torchship:


- 1 Pilot
- 20 Co-pilots(Role might be automated)
- 90 systems operators(ibid)
- 120 maintenance systems control crew(ibid)
- 1,300 Space Guards or Humanoid Combat Robots.


Actually, everything can be entirely automated, the problem being AIs, although excelling in combat with reaction times and "reflexes" no human being could compete, lack the "punch" for being tacticians, a role that is still for humans.

Thus in theory it could be actually completely unmanned, and in fact that gives the starship an edge because while a manned one can not accelerate faster on the aft and starboard vectors than 1 gravity without smashing the humans inside it, an AI controlled, and thus unmanned one, could accelerate at 6g(which is actually faster than any smaller ship can travel rather than slower), but it would be tactically "dumb" and thus only useful for low profile unmanned missions like hunting pirates and alike. Now of course you could take the simpler solution have handwavium inertial nullifiers but that is not part of my FT style, the "Faster-than-Light Suicidal Travel" and the existence of psionics are basically the only two exceptions I take, other than that I seek to have a "99% Hard Sci-fi" NS.

And regarding armament, here is an example from the battlecruiser, which is actually called a "Grand Destroyer" and sacrifices a flight deck for insane amounts of weapons and power(A battleship would be beyond what the infrastructure available can build and unnecessary for a stellar civilization, building a dyson ring is a more critical priority for them), also this one is the flagship of the entire Solar Communes fleet, so there is only one of them:

Should you be interesting in checking everything, this post (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13328389&postcount=4) has all the spaceplanes and spaceships I designed, although I did not build complete stats blocks for all of them yet.

Now anyway I suggest heavily to have at least two large coilguns at the 300-400mm caliber range. Though I went through the more expensive solution of propelling the same caliber at an increasingly high muzzle velocity, using a larger coilgun is cheaper than using a faster coilgun.

My money says go with a Graser or Xaser. Both are pretty powerful, and reasonably cheap. Energy intensive, but rather easy to make in FT.

AS (Anti-Ship) guns are just for smaller ships, like fighters, more like the future version of the AA gun.

Megabolt Cannons Releases multiple bolts of pure energy at a target.

Yes DSP9 used these (http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Self-replicating_mine)and 40K has mines too an i think there are shows and moives that have used mines too

I suggest a "mine" to be basically a high durability rocket or missile with a delayed guidance system which becomes static through inertia and passively scanning through its sensors for the space around it, and awaits for a nearby hostile in the scope of hundreds or thousands of kilometers away from it to be detected, then its thrusters adjust it towards the ship as it locks against it, because an actually static mine would be very useless unless if deployed in ridiculous quantities due to the very insignificantchances that a craft would exactly pass through that point of the vast space, and I don't think it's needed to mention the ridiculous, impossible amount of materials that would be needed to build a "minefield in space" or orbital minefield which is completely counter-economic. Orbiting very, very close to a space station, maybe, but that would block the ships looking to dock in it.

A conventional "mine" is all but useless unless you consider space warfare as a WW1 dogfighting scenario or as a naval warfare situation, now a "mine" which consists in a missile which remains static in a position and can detect hostiles light-hours away from it and await the best opportunity to lock at them... it's another history. And even if you take a soft sci-fi approach, a guided mine is still more interesting than an static one.

Ok thanks for the info, my mines usually "follow" an enemy. But, they do not attack my ships since my ships have a special device on board.

Erm, you never took over the Calaverans. The Imitators tried and took many of them, but most of the Calaverans were killed when the Imitators and they duked it out. The rest were killed by the SASM, and now there's only a few unimiated Calaverans left in the galaxy. Hell, I don't even know if there is anymore unimiated Calaverans left in the galaxy.

Well, when those prisoners break out, the calaverans could head back to their old colony that was seized by the Greal army and start a rebellion.

What about atmospheric composition? I didn't do in my own FT factbook because I'm unsure on how to make it realistic. But I have guesses that Gliese 581c most common gases are CO2 (Massive greenhouse effect) and Oxygen

We currently have two planets that are earthlike. One of the former calaveran planet of mistake, it has plains and massive forests. The other planet is Rello, which is in the same system as out world Pamp.
