It was vanity that caused the declaration to be sent out to even the farthest reaches of the cosmos instead of simply travelling to the Republican senate. The honor of the Republic had been defended, her glory and influence expanded, and her pride enflamed.

To the galaxy,

I, Germanicus, senator and commander of the Republic and her armies, hereby declare the pacification of the heathen state of Dratheria. Its armies have been destroyed, its fleets smashed, and its people made subject to the Senate and People of the Republic. Therefore, with the imperium of representative of the Senate, I declare Dratheria official friend and ally of the Republic as they take the mantle of client state and protectorate of the Republic.

Glory to the Republic.

No disrespect to our new allies in the Republic but the truth in what happened is far darker. I present this report (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=539199) to you the people of the universe. A detailed account of the war between our two alliances. We will admit that we in turn commited acts of ruthlessness including the destruction of one of their client states. However their forces struggled for weeks to battle their way through half of our Navy and a portion of our ground forces. It was an utterly bloody conflict and came to a peaceful end only after the dogged resistance of the Imperial forces. Over half our Navy still stands. This is the truth in the matter.

As the warrior turned away a gout of black flame erupted from his arm casting an inky blackness over the area.

OOC: Erm... it may have taken months IRL time, but in-game-time it was much less than that... maybe a few days at most. That's my sense of it at least.

IC, @Isa: The Republic declared war on the Dratherian Imperium after its forces trespassed on a Republican planet and interfered with an ongoing investigation of the sudden disappearance of a Republican archaeological expedition. Despite being clearly in Republican territory, the Dratherian commander repeatedly refused to recognize Republican authority and violated the Republic's sovereignty by landing heavy infantry and mechanized forces on the planet without permission, and indeed in spite of repeated warnings and orders not to do so. Because of this insult, the Republican Senate saw fit to teach Dratheria a lesson in manners by invading the Dratherian systems of Aquaria and Asuria.

Half the Dratherian Navy may yet stand, but consider that it took considerably less than half of the Republican Navy to do so, and would take no more to permanently destroy the remaining half. The Imperium's continued existence is thanks only to the merciful peace treaty extended by Senator Germanicus; therefore the Imperium is advised to cease broadcasting half-truths to garner sympathy and recognize its place as a subordinate client kingdom.

X-ray static filters back from the cosmos as the star-empires of the universe continue their day.

The Imperium congratulates the Republic on its crushing of such a deviant state, noting that their violent and profane ideologies are a canker throughout the galaxy. Much as they deserve, the Dratherians have been shown their place and the blood of Kellerman has been proven strong. I do not doubt the strength and honor of the Republic, nor the sentiment of their words and gleefully accept the defeat, dismemberment and humiliation of Dratheria.

We mourn for the death of Lorilea, but rest assured, shall honor their memory all in due course. The Imperium itself would like to discuss a series of terms with the Republic, and will soon invite all representatives, even Dratherians, from it to join us in a discussion upon the soverign Chronosian world of Kosse, blessed by the glory of the Emperor, the Gods, and all the Legions who serve them.

Not to worry, there won't be too much bowing and ring-kissing.

The Republic wishes to remind the client state of Dratheria that they are subjects to us, and should not attempt to tarnish our glorious reputation, unless they invite disciplinary action. But a fraction of our might was sent against you, and a small amount of that was lost compared to the devastation wrought on your nation in but two attacks. Let it be known to the galaxy that the Republic is merciful, for it has decided to spare a nation of monsters that slaughter an entire star system of innocent people.

To the Chronosians, we greet you as friends and thank you for your support. The Imperium is always held in high regard by the Senate, and we would be most delighted to discuss matters of renewed alliance with the most respectable Emperor. We await your official invitation anxiously.
