Central Park, New Theeb, Vetaka:

Central Park lay in the centre of the Newer more modern districts of New Theeb it was a massive area of greenery hidden within the hustle and bustle of the Vetakan Capital. Since the cities foundation Central Park had always played host to various protests, gatherings, marches and concerts the most notable being the massive 1 Million strong Anti Slavery Protest during the Conference of New Theeb which addressed revisions for the Theeb Accords. The protest back then had ended peacefully with minor incidence thanks largely to forward planning and the Vetakan Security Operation that had been able to gather intelligence and plan the operation for months before the actual event. Today the park had found itself playing host to a protest that was now some 5,000 people in strength, they where peaceful waving placards and signs the words “No QC”, “You do not rule us” and “dishonourable brethren” where just some of the examples that littered the peaceful and placid crowd.

The protest had steadily grew as the morning had given way to the afternoon it now numbered some 10,000 people many of them wore suits and dress suits. These where City office workers whom had mounted unofficial strikes in support of the initial protest and its Anti Questarian Commonwealth. By now the Cities Police Department had been instructed by the Tribal Council to deploy sufficient force to provide and maintain security. The Protest was now a simple sea of bodies, they sang and laughed together maintaining their peaceful protest against the nations foreign policy regarding the Questarians whom had been an ally of Vetaka during its Dominion Years and for a large portion of its Tribal Years. Although New Theeb’s protest was by far the largest it was reported that similar copycat protests had sprung up in Vetakan Cities and Towns around the nation along with similar protests in Vetakan Districts in Allied Cities around the world. The Vetakan Anti Questarian Protest was now gathering momentum and as a result when the clock struck 14:02 Vetakan Time the Tribal Council along with elements of the Vetakan Defence Force conveyed in an Emergancy Meeting within the Tribal Chambers a significant outcome of such a meeting was that the nation moved from DEFCON 5 to DEFCON 4 and the VPD along with the VDF began making preperations for deployments to ensure urban security and urban safety.

A small fight involving 10 protestors and 12 Police Officers occurs 8 are arrested 4 of which are transferred to New Theeb General Hospital along with 2 Police Officers. The incident results in deployment of Urban Unrest Pacification assets being deployed along with a Police Command Vehicle (PCV).

The Tribal Council orders deployment of Vetakan Defence Force 19th Armoured Division to reinforce already large scale Vetakan Police Department Deployments and to effectively shut down Alexandria Square which houses various Questarian Commonwealth Embassies and Diplomatic Quarters following scuffles between Protestors and Questarian Commonwealth Diplomatic Guardsman along with the possibility of a large scale attack by Anti QC groups information secured via Vetakan Security and Intelligence Service Assets. At the same time as the Army Deployment Naval Command puts the Sword Beach Class Helicopter Assualt Carrier VDFNS Omaha Beach on Amber Alert with the order to mount an evacuation operation of Commonwealth Ambassadors & Diplomatic Staff to the Vetakan Capital Military Base whereby a fleet of Airbus A350 and FA-15 Cardinals maintain Amber Alert Stand down.

The Directorate of Foreign Affairs via its Embassies within all Commonwealth nations sends a Priority 1, Code Red message to all governments regarding large scale Anti Commonwealth Unrest within the Vetakan Nation. The message is digitally signed by the Honoured Parceltongue Crouching Tiger and advises Commonwealth Nations alter travel advice.

The intial protest within New Theeb Central Park has now swelled to a total of 25,000 people the protest now mainly consists of men and women aged 18 above. VSIS Assets deployed confirm known extremist terrorists as well as known football hooligans have infiltrated the crowd. The situation is extremely volatile and the Tribal Council along with the Vetakan Defence Force High Command conveys in a second emergency meeting and engages its emergency “Designated Survivor” Protocol resulting in Honoured Parceltongue Crouching Tiger relocating to secured classified residence within Wagdog with his Wife and Daughter.

A small fight between 3 Protestors and 2 Police Officers results in Live Firearms being utilised resulting in the death of a Protestor and a Police Officer the incident is broadcast live accidently on Vetakan News the incident sparks the 25,000 strong protest to break down into a full scale riot. The Vetakan Police Department Deployment within the park is soon overrun and and outnumbered whilst the Deployment breaks down and communication is lost with the Deployment Commander the last communication received reports a confirmed fatality statistic of 200. Emegrnacy deployments of Army and Police Riot Forces fail to contain the riot and the rioters manage to breach the St Louis Street Containment Line allowing the Rioters a clear route to the Queatarian Commonwealth District at Alexandria Square. 19th Armoured Division Commander deployed to Alexandria Square is authorised to use Lethal and All Required Force in defence of the Diplomats. At the same time the Helicopter Carrier VDFNS Omaha Beach is brought to Red Alert and ordered to evacuate all none essential personnel and diplomatic civilians from Alexandria Square to New Theeb Military Base for transfer to Airbuse A350 for total evac of the Vetakan Nation. The Directorate of Foreign Affairs via its Embassies within all Commonwealth nations sends a second Priority 1, Code Red message to all governments informing of total evacuation of all Commonwealth Diplomatic Personnel and their families.

Tribal Chieftain Quicksilver on a rare occasion utilises his Civil Power and under Tribal Order 7890 authorises “reasonable force” restore security and peaceful to the Vetakan Nation the same order declares a 48 day curfew of all citizens and people within the Vetakan Nation between 10pm and 5am. The Tribal Order authorises the deployment of 55,000 Armed Personnel to Peacekeeping Duties. Protestors break into New Theeb Hyrdo Power Station and cut power to the city plunging the city into darkness the Tribal Council responds by deploying SAS 1st Service Red & Blue Troops along with 202 Commando Unit to secure the Station. Rioters approaching the Alexandria Complex are met by the VPD Urban Pacification Unit (VPDUPU) at 11th Street Bridge, the Unit engage the large 5,000 plus rioters with Water Cannon, Acoustic Weaponary, Tear Gas, Specialist Riot Officers along with VPD Riot Apaches which are mounted with Tear Gas & Bean Bag Launchers and Water Cannon.

The VPD Urban Pacification Unit after 2 hours of battle manage to force the protestors to withdraw temporaliry however the victory is short lived as the unit is forced to retreat within unknown casulaties and fatalities following the protestors attacking with Assualt Rifles and Petrol Bombs. The now 1,500 strong has a clear path to the Alexandria Diplomatic Complex which lays 2 kilometres down the road. Although evacuation has been underway Ambassadors and High Ranking diplomatic staff remain guarded however by the 19th Armoured Division of the Vetakan Ground Defence Forces.

Major-General Andrew Dale, Commander of the 19th Armoured Division of the 1st Vetakan Defence Force Battlegroup is informed by Supreme General Richard Sharpe that the rioters now numbering 1,500 people has breached and routed the Vetakan Police Departments Elite Urban Pacification Unit suffering unknown casualties and fatalities. The Supreme General orders the Rioters to be routed and the Questarian Commonwealth Diplomats to be protected at all costs. All necessary force has been authorised, Dale disputes the orders on the ground the Prime Directive of the Vetakan Defence Force is to “protect and defend the Vetakan People from any and all threats” . Sharpe is recorded to of sighed and replied “I know, I know but if they lynch a Questarian then that’s a different can of worms”. Dale eventually obeys all be it under recorded and written protest.

Forward 19th Armoured Division Scouts sight the approaching Riot and retreat back to the main line, Dale brings the Division to Combat Readiness. As a result Arica. I 'Shalmaneser' APC’s advance forward to the outer line and deploy E-19 armed Infantry troops taking up defensive positions they are backed up by the heavy weaponry of the APC’s and Nakil Battle tanks.

Outer Line looking down Queens Street sights the approaching mob and reports to Dale whom via Loudspeaker give their Rioters the final warning:

“Attention! Attention! This is Major-General Andrew Dale of the 19th Armoured Division. You are in violation of the Peaceful Protest Bill of 2000. You are also in violation of Tribal Order 7890. Lethal Force has been authorised in defence of the Questarian Commonwealth Diplomatic Quarter. Your protest has been noted. Withdraw and Disperse”

The approaching Rioters do begin to slow however Sniper Units based within the Outer-Line report the rioters are preparing Weapons. Dale gives the order to prepare to fire and at the same time informs VDF High Command of the situation. One Corporal is noted on Vetakan News as disputing the orders:

“Do we really fire on our own people, in protection of those whom Ally themselves with the Doomani and those whom would seek to ally us to the Doomani”

The Rioters suddenly surge forward firing Automatic Weapons and Pistols as well as hurling homemade Molotov Petrol Bombs. The Outer Line suffers minimal damage and odd injuries but holds however with the attacking rioters now becoming more dense and growing in number, Major-General Dale is forced for the first time in Vetakan History to give an order that directly breaks the Prime Directive of the Vetakan Military. At 01:17 and 40 seconds Dale gives the order to open fire as a result Infantry on the Outer Line open fire with their E-19’s they attempt to fire at those with weapons and attempt to injury them as opposed to neutralise them. However from the rear of attacking mob 5 Shoulder-launched Multipurpose Assault Weapons are fired to which cause a HUMVEE to explode as a result the heavier weapons of the Nakils and the Tanks open fire in a breach of orders. The ensuing massacre lasts until 01:42 where by the rioters flee.

The Battlefield falls silent and Major-General Andrew Dale orders the advancement of the 19th Armoured Divisions Infantry the advance is a swift one the Captain leading the Advancement is Captain James Dedeed he is noted as saying “My God, What have we done”.

VDF Medics in co-operation with Vetakan Civilian Ambulance Units report in excess of 500 causalities as a result Major-General Dale informs VDF High Command the Riot has been dispersed at an estimated Casualty & Fatality cost of some 2,300 people dead and injured. Major-General Dale requests Emergency Medical Aid and such the Emma Ferns Class Hospital Ship Vetakan Defence Force Naval Ship (VDFNS) Josh Green operating practice drills within the New Theeb Bay is brought to Red Alert and told to expect major casualty numbers.

Supreme Operational Commander Jonathon Stone of the Vetakan Defence Forces is sedated and relived of Active Command by Vetakan Military Police after smashing up Operations Room 1 in rage. Supreme Operational Commander Jack O’Neil initially on Standown is put on Red Alert and is recorded as saying on hearing the news:

“Right……… Its going to be a long night…… Private I want you to go to JD’s Bakery and get some Jam Doughnuts it’s a matter of National Security”

After a day and night of extensive and violent Civil Unrest within the Nation centered around the Vetakan Capital of New Theeb resulting from deep routed anger at the Questarian Empires decision to founder the APOC Bloc and ally itself within the Doomani Imperium.

With a Vetakan Populace angry at the Questarian attempt to ally the Tribal Chiefdom to the Doomani by a proxy a day of Peaceful Protest yesterday turned to a night of Blood, Destruction and Hate whereby its believed some 3,300 People have died in a night of rioting and civil unrest. Most notably at the now deserted Questarian Commonwealth Diplomatic Quarter at Alexandria Square where the 19th Armoured Division clashed with Rioters. Early indications and unofficial reports suggest some 1,300 perished in a battle which has been referred to as the "Queens Street Incident".

The Tribal Cheiftain responded today by announcing that as of Midday today the Tribal Chiefdom of Vetaka would cease to be a Questarian Commonwealth State. He went on to to announce that whilst Vetaka would cease to be a Commonwealth state it would attempt to maintain strong and close relations within the Questarian Empire and Commonwealth States.

Vetaka is generally known for being leader of the United Federaton of Allied Nations, alliance which in theory is supposed to be pro-human rights and anti-slavery. UFAN of course has had its own history of controversies, with large number of alliance members buying arms from Doomani Corporations which use slaves. Also Aurum Domus at one moment directly allied with Doomanis, but was forced to back down due diplomatic pressure. Kampfers, at that time one of the main pressurers of Aurumians, and high ranking member of UFAN, recently left the alliance and decided to defend “civilization” with Doomanis by joining APOC. Not to mention regular problems that alliance members from Veteka to Wolfenhalle have, in following democratic principles, which they promised to defend.

Vetakan dealings with other alliances have always been rather strange. They pulled out from Sovereign League simply due few negative opinion polling results, and later tried to fix this nonsense by executing their former president in some primitive ritual. Way to go Vetakans! This time large masses of ordinary Vetakans became directly violent. They suddenly realized that through Questarian Commonwealth, they are allied to Doomingsland. As well educated, pacifist, and tolerant people usually do in such situations, they crabbed their automatic guns, assault weapons and molotov coctails, and tried to murder Questarian diplomats. Then ordinary police failed to deal with problem, Vetakan Police Departments Elite Urban Pacification Unit was deployed. Yeah awesome name, although “elite” is clearly unneccessary as those guys were routed by the mob in mere two hours.

Realizing total incompetence of their police Vetakans deployed whole Armoured Division to defend Questarian Commonwealth embassies. Those “pacifist”, “educated” and “tolerant” Vetakan protestors acted as you would always expect from such nice people, that means directly assaulting embassy defenders. In that improvised reenactment of Battle of Omdurman, protestors were obviously massacred. Current total bodycount is near 3,500 people. Probably fearing that next assault would also overrun their “elite” armoured divisions, Vetakan Tribal Cheiftain announced pulling out from Questarian Commonwealth.

As standard for UFAN-ites Vetakans also managed to prove their hypocrisy yet again. They became extremely violent then they became allied to Doomani slavetraders through proxy. On other hand Vetakans have not yet protested against being allied through proxy with one of the most notorius massmurderers, Automagfreek. Yes that’s true, Central Prestonia is member of both UFAN and Gholgoth. Vetakans have got themselves into similar alliance with Automagfreek, as they were with Doomingsland. Hopefully they will solve that puzzle slightly more elegantly.

Strong Room; Bruxellan Embassy; 0145 Hours

Ambassador Reynolds paced up and down across the carpeted floor of the Embassy strong room in a silence only punctuated by the sounds of the air filtration system. The room around her was full of cardboard boxes containing old paperwork - Vetaka had never been considered a dangerous assignment to be sent to and as such, the Security Manager had become somewhat relaxed of late.

She kept thinking back to a month ago - was it only a month? - the embassy had been manic, preparations for the arrival of the Prime Minister and the Theeb Accords meeting well underway. Keira had been at the original signing of the Theeb Accords, indeed she had been involved in the initial drafting of the document - the new Bruxellan government was looking forward to defending the Theeb Accords from any significant watering-down. The Ambassador had even taken a moment to slip out of the building without her bodyguards, to witness the protests against the Doomani.

The situation could not be more different now.

In complete contrast to the peaceful nature of that protest, she now found herself in a steel-reinforced concrete box, locked from the inside and with two armed guards outside the door. A small contingent of Bruxellan marines, a few concrete walls and the Vetakan police were now all that stood between her and a back of baying rioters calling for her murder.

The entryphone began to ring, Keira stepped over to answer, looking through the peep hole as she did so. "Strong room"

"Ambassador, the rioters have been dispersed and the firefight has ended. We're preparing the chopper to evacuate the remaining non-military staff, including yourself, Ambassador,"

"What's the situation up above, are there many casualties?"

There was a pause.

"Yes. We have no way of knowing how many as yet, but...I would expect a number possibly into the thousands, ma'am."

"THOUSANDS?"

"Yes, ma'am,"

"I want a secure line to Bruxelles. Now."

"Yes, ma'am," replied the Security Manager, cutting the call short.

"Yes, Minister. Dependants and non-essential staff were evacuated by chartered jet earlier in the day. They're due to land in Strando...in approximately three hours. The Ambassador herself was evacuated around 2am local time, after the mob was fought off. Most of the locally-employed staff elected to remain behind; they don't appear to be in significant danger at this time. Currently, all that remain is the detachment of marines to safeguard the premises and the Security Manager who is currently ensuring the destruction of all confidential documents,"

"Where is Ambassador Reynolds now?" demanded the Foreign Secretary.

"She was airlifted to the HSMS Indefatigable by chopper. They were engaged in routine exercises. They've been ordered to stand off Vetakan waters until further notice."

An aide knocked at the door, before entering the room, "Sir, the PM is on line one"

Dear Mr Pearce, Supreme Honoured Parceltongue Rising Tiger

The Sovereign Kingdom of Bruxella wishes to express with utmost severity our deep concern and sadness at the events of yesterday and this morning. Please pass on our sympathies to all those Vetakans who have tragically lost loved ones as a result of yesterday's riot.

The Sovereign Kingdom, and its predecessor the Federation of Aunesia has for many many years cherished the close and friendly relations between our two nations, relations entrenched by our common belief in the pursuance of human rights for all and global peace and prosperity. This has most recently been expressed in our shared attempts to put an end to the practice of slavery.

Taking into account our long and close relations and our shared belief that the practice of slavery is repugnant we were surprised and shocked by the targeting of the Sovereign Kingdom of Bruxella last night. It is our understanding that this is a result of our membership of the Questarian Commonwealth and our alliance with the nation of Doomingsland - a nation renowned for its booming slave trade.

The Sovereign Kingdom shares Vetakan concerns that a military ally of ours is engaged in the practice of slavery. We will be assessing that issue in due course and petition Doomingsland to reconsider their policy towards slavery. However, we consider our concerns regarding the Human Rights breaches within Doomingsland to be entirely separate from our military alliance with them against far more dangerous and worrying elements in the world.

Regardless of our own policy towards Doomingsland, we would like to further emphasise our concerns that elements of the Vetakan populace were actively engaged in the pursuance of the murder of our diplomatic staff last night. Whilst we recognise that Vetakan security forces took all possible steps to prevent this, at great cost in human lives, and were ultimately successful, we are hereby giving notice that all Bruxellan diplomatic missions shall be closed until such time as we can be assured of the safety of our personnel. We shall discuss with the Questarian Government the possibility of opening a Bruxellan Affairs section within their Embassy.

His Sovereign Majesty's Government is convinced that this current dip in Bruxo-Vetakan affairs is merely temporary and wishes to assure the Vetakan Government of our continued support and goodwill.

Rioting continued today in Vetakan Capital today. The Government has yet to release any offical causlaty figures though it is reported that there is many dead and wounded.

Lethal Force has been authorised in defence of the Questarian Commonwealth Diplomatic Quarter by Major-General Andrew Dale of the 19th Armoured Division.

Ambassador Reynolds of the Bruxellan Embassy was evacuted today with most of her staff to HSMS Indefatigable laying off the Coast. It isn't known whether the Grasalandik Government is preparing to evacute its own citizens.

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Phillip Naslund is in the next few minutes is expected to release a statement on behalf of the Grasalandik Government. The statement is believed to express a deep concern and sadness at the events of yesterday and this morning, while also condeming the Lethal Force used.

Aurum Doman Embassy, New Theeb

The two children of the Aurum Doman Ambassador to Vetaka sat watching TV on the top floor of the embassy which functioned as living quarters. Images of the swelling crowd in Central Park flash across the screen. The two teenagers who had always been rebellious decided to sneak out of the embassy and join the protest. Though they both came in back in one piece it was only barely, they had been nearly trampled to death as the crowd dispersed and James, the older teen, had been shoved into a pole. The two limped through the door to find their hysterical parents who lectured them about possibly causing an international incident. Hopefully no one had gotten a picture of them during the protests.

Deadly Riots Erupt in Vetaka Over The Questarian Commonwealth Proxy Alliance With Doomingsland; Thousands Are Reported Dead

Over 3,500 Vetakan civillians were killed today after a peaceful protest turned violent. Early reports indicate that no Aurum Doman citizens were harmed though it is rumored that James and Natalie Horik, the two teenage children of the Ambassador, were injured. Attempts to confirm this with the embassy have failed. Never before has there been a massacre this large in Vetaka and it is a huge surprise that anything like this could ever happen. Vetaka has always been a peace loving nation especially since the founding of the United Federation of Allied Nations.

It is troubling news indeed to hear of the troubles in your nation, yet somewhat a blessing in disguise.

The Questarian Commonwealth has long shown itself to be undeserving of the title "Commonwealth". Questers has shown itself incapable of civilised debate, incapable of showing some concern for the nations it has sworn to protect, and has by way of APOC drawn your nation into internal strife. Surely you do not require more reason than a nation causing you to break one of your own fundamental tenets by firing upon your own civilians?

If Questers gave a damn what was happening in your nation, if Questers gave a damn about your nation, Questers would have thought twice about bringing the Commonwealth into disrepute. As it stands, they have decided to ally themselves with slave-keepers and the Clandonians, claiming to be some sort of messiah for civilisation.

You know, as well as Her Majesty the Queen does, that the day Doomingsland becomes a bastion of civilisation is the day yours, and our, nations are destroyed, obliterated to radioactive glass, never to be inhabited for the rest of time.

I urge you on behalf of Her Majesty to begin immediate withdrawal from the Questarian Commonwealth, something that must be done with the utmost urgency. Barronia will happily provide you with all of the necessary tools to begin restoring calm to your nation - I am happy to report that General Strom is more than willing to attend to the situation himself if requested - both units from our Barronian Civil Protection, our resident paramilitary force, and if necessary, forces from the Barronian Armed Services in defence of the Questarian Commonwealth Diplomatic Quarter - we may not like them, but these unwritten laws exist and we must follow international etiquette.

The Palace of Freedom was the iconic masterpeice of the Vetakan Jewel of New Theeb. Most Pictures and Postcards of the City contained the Palace of Freedom, It sat proudly within the North Face of Freedom Square. The Palace sat in a brilliant piece of engineering atop of Vetaka's largest Waterfall known as Roxanne Falls named in honour the of now deceased 2rd Vetakan President Roxanne Wright. Outside of the Palaces grand entrance and within the centre of the Square stood flagpoles at their various tops flew the Vetakan Flag, the Wagdogian Flag, the Animarinian Flag, the Flag of the United Federation, the Flag of the Delian League, the Flag of Pan-Arab Barronia, the Flag of the Questarian Commonwealth and Finally the Flag of the Imperial Junta of Questers. The Square like much of the City was oddly quiet and sombre as many sat listening to their radios or watching their TVs watching and waiting for one of the Tribal Chiefdoms greatest men, Rising Tiger or Daniel Pearce as he was generally known to make a speech addressing the riots and unrest that had gripped Vetaka of late, relating to Vetakan Membership of the Questarian Commonwealth, thousands lay dead in the riots aftermath. Now the Vetakan Nation and a large part of the world waited. Within the Room of Snakes which served as the Palace of Freedoms Press Room journalists prepared to take in what would be Rising Tigers most important political speech of his life. As the Grand Oak Doors opened and the White Robbed man took his position behind the Glass Podium the words "The Tribal Chiefdom of Vetaka" written across it. Directly in front of the huge Vetakan Flag that hung on the wall behind him a pin could of dropped and be heard in the silence. Rising Tiger gazed at the gathered crowd of Journalists, he cleared his throat and launched into it:

"First of all on behalf of the Tribal Council and the Chieftain of the Tribal Chiefdom of Vetaka I would like to thank you all for your continued support in this hour of darkness it will not go unforgotten. I speak to you today to personally assure you, your governments and your peoples that the Chiefdom of Vetaka is as per its international obligations is doing everything that is required to protect Diplomatic Mission and its Sovereign Soil within the Capital City of New Theeb.

Vetaka is a peaceful nation, we are a peaceful people, we are a race of honour whom respect all those around us. The people of Vetaka are honourable and truthful committed as per this nations foreign policy to the ideals of Peace, Truth, Courage, Respect, Honour and Equality. Ideals that until recently the people of the Tribal Chiefdom believed where present and upheld by the Questarian Commonwealth. However recent events such as the formation of the Alliance for the Preservation of Civilization and thus the Questarian Commonwealths Alliance to the nation of Doomingsland by proxy is something the Vetakan People can not tolerate.

The Vetakan People and the Tribal Chiefdom do not hate or despise the People of the Doomani Imperium. They have achieved and accomplished some great things, terrible all the same but great in their own right. For that they have honour however the Doomani break every single Ideal that the Vetakan People hold dear. Whilst Innocent People languish within the Doomani Slave Camps how can the Doomani and APOC stand for the ideals of Respect, Truth and Equality?

Whilst the Dishonourable Pencil Pushing Puppies of Clandonia Prime led by the Traitours Evil of David Sistillin. Continue to stir up trouble and pick fights with honourable nations before retreating to the protection of their Praetonian Masters. How can APOC and stand for the ideals of Courage and Honour?

To be civilised is to be moral, to be ethical, to be humane, to be intellectual and logical in the face of differences. As such how can the nations of Doomingsland and Clandonia Prime stand to be Protectors of Civilisation when their foreign policies break their alliances own fundamental standings. The actions of the Vetakan People Yesterday and Today are wrong, the people acted in dishonour and they wake today in shame. However the Vetakan People are a proud race we are honourable warriors at heart, we only wish to live a peaceful simple life, however we will not be silent when others suffer in darkness around us. It is no secret that since the dawn of Vetaka's existence we have opposed the ideologies of Doomingsland however it is a peaceful opposition one that is maintained in honour and respect, respect and honour that is returned in kind by the Doomani. As shown by Imperatar Maximus's attendance of the Anti Slavery Conference within New Theeb where he provided insight, understanding and wisdom of the Ideologies of the Doomani Slave Trade. Ideologies that whilst Vetaka disagrees with we are civilized and honourable enough to hear and understand in peaceful debate.

As I have said Vetaka will always be a peaceful nation, a Vetakan will always seek to resolve an issue or an argument peacefully by intellectual and logical debate, however as the Vetakan People have shown in this day of darkness if required we will fight and gladly die for what a Vetakan considers right and true.

This should not be considered justification for the riots that have torn New Theeb a part it should be considered an explanation of understanding as to why the people of Vetaka have gone to such extreme lengths to make their voices heard. The Imperial Junta of Questers and the Questarian Commonwealth still have honour and they still have Vetaka's Respect however Vetaka and the Vetakans cannot simply abandon our Ideals and Principles and Ally ourselves all be it by Proxy to the Doomani. Vetaka will forever always be in the debt of the Questarian Commonwealth as a result Questers and its Commonwealth will forever always have the Friendship of Vetaka. The Vetakan People as shown by Vetaka's Humanitarian and Charitable Commitments totalling Billions, to London during the 5 Day War in the aftermath of the Allanean Air Attack show that Questers, its people and its Empire will always have Vetaka as a friend however we are no longer an ally.

As a mark of respect to the Questarian Commonwealth all current rights, freedoms and privileges enjoyed by the Commonwealth will remain. Furthermore the flag of the Questarian Commonwealth and of the Junta will continue to fly within Freedom Square within the Vetakan Capital of New Theeb.

Vetaka will continue its Foreign Policy of Peace, Truth, Courage, Respect, Honour and Equality. We will continue to oppose those stated but unlike others before us we oppose in Mutual Peace, Respect and Honour. We will continue to advance our foreign policy and ideals via Peaceful and Diplomatic Means resorting to War when the Tribal Chiefdom is threatened by those whom resort to violence to silence the Peaceful Voices of Tribal Vetaka."

With that Rising Tiger walked in front of the Glass Podium and bowed his head respectfully. From their he bowed to one knee and chanted:

"I Bow to No Man"

As he began to return to stand his drew his sword in one swift motion brought it high up to his right before bringing it to his nose where he held it for a few seconds before bringing it down by his leg and eventually returning it to its sheath. The whole movement took less than 15 seconds before in roar of questions and flashing cameras. Supreme Honoured Parceltongue Rising Tiger turned on his heel and left the chaotic press room.

I on behalf of the Chieftain Quicksilver, the Tribal Council and the Tribal Chiefdom of Vetaka wish to apologise for the actions of the Vetakan People yesterday and today. As I have already made it clear in my public address the Vetakan People are a race of honour. Within the past 24 hours they have acted in Dishonour and today they wake in shame.

I wish to make it clear to you and to His Sovereign Majesty King Edward X that the safety and security of Diplomatic Staff within the Vetakan Capital is guaranteed. The Tribal Council via the Vetakan Defence Force is undertaking every possibly measure to ensure that Commonwealth Diplomatic Staff and Sovereign Soil remains safe and secure.

Since the dawn of Vetaka's existence my nation has followed a Domestic and Foreign Policy of Peace Opposition against the Doomani such example being the Theeb Accords. Vetaka cannot allow itself to be Allied to Doomingsland even by proxy such an Alliance would break the Fundamental Values and Ideals of Vetaka, Such Ideals govern a Vetakan in everything he does. Such Ideals that I, the Chieftain and the Tribal Council broke and thus resulted with the Extreme measures taken by the Vetakan Populace to ensure my error was corrected and those ideals where defended.

As you say the day that Doomingsland and Clandonia Prime become bastions of civilisation is the day that our nations and our allies cease to exsist. The Peaceful Voices of the Allies Shall Not Be Silenced. The Hour Darkness that Vetaka has been within in has ended. The Hour of Light in Peace has begun.

Several hours after the ceasing of violence, news reaches the Northfordian Government in Redbridge & Richmond. A full cabinet meeting is held to discuss the latest downturn in the fortunes of the Questarian Empire and Commonwealth...

"How much flexibility do we have?" asked Brookes, twiddling his beard in his fingertips, "It's entirely possible for us to get the situation under thumb, but realistically what are our options?"

"We oughtn't not want to fuck the Doomani's off too much" uttered the Minister for Transport while flicking through his notes. "Looking at their Nuclearum territory to the south, a full 1/3 of our transport jets refuel there on their way south...admittedly, it's not as bad as when we had the charter route with Akimonad's Ytterbia, but this could be messy."

"Jonas, let's try and keep this open... I'm aware the Doomani's are temperamental at the best of times, but I thought the Vetakans were aware of our Slaving policy?"

"Apparently not, it would seem?" replied one of the younger faces at the table.

"Daniel, I want you to prepare a report for the Vetakans, on what we're doing with the K'stani POW's we had, and those random slaves we keep on buying of the Cohenians and putting into rehabilitation" requested Brookes to the man who just spoke, the recently promoted 'Minister for Demographics'.

The polite conversation was broke by Shaun Pembers walking in through main doors. Tired, tatty and wearing a sports T-shirt, he was an unhealthy contrast to the rest of the suit-clad group.

"Apologies." he said tersely, "for my attire. From the moment I found out, I was at the foreign office, and, unfortunately, not had time to change."

"No matter", said Brookes warmly, as he shifted a seat towards his co-worker. "Do tell us what you've managed to work out..."

Pember sat down, rummaging through his sports bag for a moment, before recovering his PDA.

"Apologies once again, I didn't have time to print off all the files, so I transferred them to the memory chip on my PDA" he said, while slowly taking extracting the smart card off of the electronic organiser. After a moments rummaging he removed it cleanly and placed it into a reader located in the arm of his chair.

"Right chaps", he started, regaining his more usual manner as the powerpoint preloaded, "what you're seeing here is a mixture of videos photographs taken from the Northfordian embassy in roughly chronological order. As you can see, the capital city essentially experianced a meltdown. Thousands are dead, the Vetakans had to deploy troops on their own streets to quell the violence. It's not pretty, our own embassy is still standing, with most people in the basement, sealed off from the outside world."

There was a slight pause when a video of a Vetakan civilian launching a petrol bomb at a group of unarmed policemen flashed up on the screen, apparently causing the death of all assembled.

"Please, do continue" said Brookes, bringing the attention back to the room.

"Right... sorry for that" said Pember, acutely aware of the fact he ought've edited the footage slightly more sensitively.

"Anyway, where was I?" he asked himself rhetorically before continuing, "Ah yes... Here," he said, gesturing to the next slide.

"This map shows the area of devastation, within the rest of Vetaka... I also took the liberty of putting the on nearby military forces of the rest of the Commonwealth... still struggling on data from the Questarians, though I've had it on good word that the Bruxellan's have got a Cruiser in the vicinity. In case you can't see, the escort force is ours, though I'm not particularly sure of the make up of it."

The Defence minister spoke up, "That's a standard 'Wingless Convoy', three destroyers, four frigates, four corvettes and five logistics vessels... designed for low threat, low intensity routes, for shipping groups containing nothing of high value. I'm not sure about the particulars, but those ones are usually jam packed full of marines and scientists, who generally use the frequent trips to get experience at sea in the event of an actual war... pretty effective policing units actually, one was hit by pirates a couple of months back, left two of the pirate ships under water, we managed to board one, take it over, and find out the islet the pirates were sheltering in... it was shortly bombed, of course."

"Marines?" asked Pember, his eyebrows slightly raised.

"Ohh yes," replied the Defence Minister cordially, "awful useful for when you're expecting pirates, you know”

“Right…” said Pember, quite aware of the importance, “I’ll come back to that later, but I think we might have a use for them.”

“Continuing on”, he said, flicking through further slides, “we’ve got the issue of what to do on the ground. Our ambassador is presently being held at the New Theeb Military Base in Vetaka, awaiting pickup by the Northfordian Navy, while the Bruxellans have already evacuated.”

Ending the short talk, Prime Minister Brookes cut in. “Thank you for briefing us Pember. Before we get into our action, what’s your gut feeling on this?”

“Honestly” said Pember, starting a sentence, “I’ve got to give it to them… the Doomani aren’t particularly nice fellows, and they’ve got a point about their humanitarian issues. Realistically though, they need to realise that this is, and has always will be, a marriage of convenience…The Doomani’s are leaders in multiple military industries, and act as a vitally important bastion against outsider threats, it’s in our interests to keep them friendly...”

“Pember, please refrain from acting as a Questarian Propaganda Machine, and tell us what you’d suggest we do.” asked Brookes, taking note from a couple of the glances across the table.

“Ah, yes, apologies, I’ve still got the APOC meeting fresh in my head from a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, in the immediate, I would suggest we ignore the Questarians, and liaise closely with the Bruxellans . Seeing as our embassy is in a rather better position than theirs, I think we ought to offer them joint use of ours, at least in the immediate future. By us allowing them to double up with ourselves rather than the Questarians, it allows us to manoeuvre ourselves for some sort of bilateral agree later on, depending on how receptive everyone is to the idea. I’d also suggest we sent whatever was in that convoy back, leaving the escort force off Vetakan waters…. Assuming the Bruxellans are in agreeance, I’d propose we form an ad-hoc battle group with their cruiser.”

“A Battle group” interjected another minister, his interest raised.

“Yes, it makes sense”, agreed the Defence Minister. “We’ve got lots of assets over there, people, mostly, but it will provide us with a healthy leverage over them should anything nasty happen. Bear in mind, as well, that previous to them pulling out of the Commonwealth, we were in the same customs region, and allowed relatively free movement of people. We never had large business assets over there, but the fact remains that there remains a risk what little we have could be nationalised. Something like that could set a nasty precedent, especially if there’s move violence.”

“I agree, Minister”, said Pembers, continuing with his suggestions, “something like that would make a visible statement, and peeling away the actual convoy itself… well, while I suppose some would call it an embargo of sorts, it’s more a matter of security. The Vetakan forces are fairly large, and well developed, so we probably wouldn’t last awful long in a firefight, but the spear of this has to be to force them to the table. I’m fairly sure we can convince them to be amiable, and perhaps even allies with ourselves.”

“Really?” asked Brookes, eyebrows raised.

“Yes.” said Pember, “Though I would delay the vote for ratification of the APOC legislation, of only as a pragmatic measure, it might help, if only as a sweetener…”

Following the recent deterioration of relations with the ex-Commonwealth state of Vetaka, the Commonwealth of Northford is taking a series of preventative measures, with an aim to secure Northfordian and Commonwealth interests in the area. Considering the joint interests of both our countries in the area, and our close relations, the Commonwealth is formally suggesting co-operation on the issue, as well as formally requesting a Bruxellan attaché to the Government on the issue.

28 Miniutes After Bruxellan-Northfordian Ad-Hoc Battle Group arrives off Vetakan Waters....

Operations Room 1, Vetakan Defence Force High Command, New Theeb, Vetaka:

Operations Room 1 was the nerve centre of the Vetakan Military it was here that various Vetakan Leaders had directed the Counter-Offensive against the Clandonian Invasion and the Air Strikes within Mer Des Ennuis. Today was no different the various staff manning Operations Room 1 where directing the Vetakan Militarys response to the Riots within the Capital and the arrival of a Ad-Hoc Commonwealth Battle Group off Vetakan Waters. Supreme Operational Commander Jack O'Neil briefed Parceltongue Rising Tiger of the Commonwealth Battle Groups ORBAT:

"Intelligence from our UAV Patrols and Conventional Patrols by Naval and Air Assets confirms that the Bruxellan HSMS Indefatigable and the Northfordian Naval Convoy have now formed up into a Small Battle Group 2 Kilometres off our Waters. Id feel preety shit about ordering our Navy to engage good mates but if required they would not last long in a fire fight with us".

"Engage the Northfordians & Bruxellan's?" laughed Pearce as he picked up his glass of water and sipped it before continuing. Replacing the Glass he continued:

"If they attack us then that is different but for now they are good friends. Put a Strike Group on standby at New Theeb Military Base. I'll give the Northfordians and the Bruxellans a call and tell them their is no hard feelings and try and salvage an under the table sorta Alliance."

"Aye Sir" replied O'Neil as he moved away to direct his orders.

15 Miniutes Later……..

Office of the Supreme Honoured Parceltongue, Palace of Freedom, New Theeb, Vetaka:

Rising Tiger entered the office and immediately collapsed into the Executive Leather Chair that sat behind the large oak desk. He gazed at the huge blown up picture of a group people standing outside of the Palace of Peace, they looked tired and dirty all of them carried a variety of Assault Rifles and Weapons. The Palace looked somewhat beaten with a number of the windows smashed, a few holes in the walls and a few billowing smoke clouds from the Palaces background. The Photograph had been taken 2 hours after the Vetakan Civil War had ended, it showed the Commanders of the War and those whom had fought the final battle to defeat the James Swan and his Royalists.

The Commanders and Warriors that had fought for freedom in the Civil war had become Vetaka’s leaders during the Republic Years and those that where still alive and in office had continued to lead when Vetaka became the Tribal Chiefdom. Pearce sighed as his eyes filled with tears as they met with Roxanne Wright, whom had died to secure Vetaka’s honour when the Clandonians had tried to Invade all those years ago. Eventually Pearce leaned forward and picked up his phone dialling zero it rang for a few seconds and was answered:

“Kate, get me the Questarian, Northfordian and Bruexllan Ambassadors, inform them that I request an audience of them.”

“Of Course Sir” came Kate’s Sweet Whisper.

Meanwhile……

Central Park, New Theeb, Vetaka:

Central Park was still recovering from the Riots and Protests of the day before, as a result besides workers of the New Theeb Civil Support Authority the park was oddly quiet. As the day wore on and the working day eventually came to a close a large group of students from New Theeb University arrived they sat down on the south bank of Central Stream and started to sing not songs of hate but ones of peace, as they sang more joined them and sang beside them. As the crowd grew the Police arrived and merely stood around as crowd reached some 2,000 the students whom started the songs began to sing the National Anthem:

"Another day in paradise..." muttered Ambassador Fowler to himself quietly as he followed his officer attaché. While he had complete freedom, he mostly chose to stick to the suggestions of his guide, spending the time reading, and liaising with the rest of the Northfordian Diplomatic Service (NDS). It was not a bad place to be, but by all accounts, exceptionally boring.

Things changed, however, in the 5th day there. Approached by Supreme General Richard Sharpe, he was led to a Television screen, for a "Web meeting" with the Vetakan Prime Minister, known indigenously as "Rising Tiger".

Sitting down in the quiet, circular room, with a 270 degree TV, he waited quietly for the Prime Ministers head to appear in front of him.

2 KM's off Vetakan Waters, NNS "Gelden"

Small, grey and mobile, the Northfordian Escort fleet quickly repositioned itself around the Bruxellan Cruiser while waiting for orders, sending its UAVs into the air for scouting, as well as its ROV minesweeping boats into a patrol formation around the Bruxellan Cruiser.

Rising Tiger busily made notes on a pad of paper in front of him regarding various things he wanted to discuss with the Northfordian Ambassador. As the time of meeting approached he quickly read through a report from Naval Command regarding the activities of the small Questarian Commonwealth Fleet that had gathered just off Vetakan Waters. Whilst the Vetakan Military was under orders not to approach them or be seen to act aggressively. VDF High Command was under orders to monitor the small fleet as passively and as low key as possible. As Rising Tiger quickly finished the report he put it down and looked at a Tech Aid who sat monitoring the technology required for the Web Meeting. The aide put his thumb up and Rising Tiger via his own Computer entered the Virtual Conference. His Web-cam activated and his picture would now be visible to the Ambassador just as the Ambassador was now visible to Rising Tiger, After the initial greetings, Rising Tiger smiled:

"Id like to start by offering you my most sincere apologies regarding the current situation. The Vetakan People are not a violent race. They are just to honourable and stubborn. Their actions are inexusable however it is the Tribal Council that is at fault not the people. We should of seen this coming, we should of followed the policies the people want and not the policies the Council wanted. Having said that I am charged with the protection and the promotion of the Vetakan Nation. If I can I'd rather keep Northford, Bruxella and the Commonwealth as good friends then enemies. Even if we cannot be allies and brothers in combat I am sure we can maintain ties that are acceptable?"

Before the Ambassador could reply, Pearce interjected:

"It is worth noting that even if we can not salvage ties, No Commonwealth citizen shall be harmed or persecuted in the Vetakan Nation in the future. Furthermore all sensitive information will be deleted to ensure your security. However I do believe it will not come to that. Ensuring our nations keep their ties is beneficial to both of us."
