Republic deploys almost three million servicemen and women to region

Aequatian Leased Territory, Norfolk Isle, Akimonad - The signing of the Kent Agreement earlier this week has come into action as the Aequatian Republic, whose agreement obligations include the forward deployment of its armed forces to the Akimonadi Empire for the purpose of collective security as per the outline of the bilateral treaty. The Aequatian Republic's forces, under the authority of the regional Haven Command (HAVENCOM), are deployed to its bases in Akimonad to act as support for the Empire's own armed forces in local defence matters, although they are able to be released for other operations under direct Aequatian command if released from the duties by the Akimonadi government.
The deployment comes at a time of uneasy tensions between the nations of Gholgoth and Haven and is unlikely to be any less controversial than previous deployments to other possessions such as Aequatius Decca and Innovata. The Office of the President released a statement that called the deployments "honouring our commitment to our newest ally in our united mission for collective security," and that there would be no negotiations that would remove the Aequatian actions with any nations other than Akimonad itself.

The forces deployed consist of units from all of the service branches, each falling under each branch's unified command under HAVENCOM. The Aequatian Republic Land Forces (ARLF) component includes an entire Field Army consisting of three mechanized infantry corps with additional support for twice that many with rapid deployment from the continental Aequatian Republic, just like any other forward deployments around the region. The Aequatian Republic Air Force (ARAF) has deployed an extensive diversity in forces that aid the Naval Aviation forces in long-range detection and air defence, the Aequatian Republic Navy (ARN) has a number of aircraft carrier battlegroups supported by land-based aviation assets which also support an entire Marine Expeditionary Force meant as a local, quick reaction counteroffensive force.
Several conservative groups in Aequatio have called the agreement an "example of Reid's hypocrisy in his work towards peace" and have called for the National Senate to refuse ratifying the Kent Agreement, preferring a policy of isolation. The president's own Centrist Party has said it will be voting in support of the move, despite the opposition, declaring that it is "the only method which those in the APOC circles will listen to the President's message," Said a party spokesman.
