Of course, one could not ignore the importance of the Roman Empire. Not only has the Roman Empire played a vital role in the Balkans past, and present, but they are today as they were before - a formidable neighbor, one whose prestige reaches most corners of the world.

If one were to be picky, it could be said that both Halves of the Roman Empire have finally been restored. The Roman Empire of Today being the successor of the Western Half, the Infinite Republic of the Eastern Half.

So, a telegram was dispatched to the Roman Empire. No fluff or flattering was endured, only the very basics were put in -

The Infinite Republic wishes to initiate Diplomacy with the Roman Empire, and would emphasize the importance of talks over "Transbaltic" relationships and Adriatic trade.

The death of the Fourth Reich sent shockwaves throughout the world. Much like the Collapse of the Fifth Century, when the Western Roman Empire was reduced to the territory of Italy after holding on to all of Western Europe, the loss of a single power over much of Europe was due to provide an immense impact over many generations. With so many different nations assuming parts of fragmented system that had worked for so long, the Romans knew there had to be a long and painful re-organization process, but this time- they hoped- the results wouldn't be so catastrophic as they were in the Fifth Century.

Which is why when news of the birth of the Infinite Republic came about Rome was more than happy to establish ties. Holding on to what was once the Roman provinces of Illyria and Dacia, the Romans felt a special kinship towards their new neighbours and thus were vital in the European rebuilding process. Rome knew that the success of the new nations would be incredibly important in restoring the vibrancy and fluidity of the European network, so they were truly interested in propping up their new neighbours.
