A Meeting of Comrades (EII only)

Beijing, UER
"Hurry up, they'll be here soon!"
Premier Kristan Zhao shot a dirty look at Foreign Minister Ruiyan Bei as he arrived unusually late; normally Zhao wouldn't have cared but today was different. The United Eastasian Republic had always enjoyed having the puppet state of Free Palau to discuss 'international socialism' with, but a new nation had arisen which could change that. The Bull Hornians were one of several nations to emerge from the now-collapsed Fourth Reich, but unlike most nations they seemed to follow similar doctrines to the Eastasians.
Beijing had leapt on the opportunity without a second thought. A fellow sovereign socialist nation was a welcome development, no matter where they were or what condition they were in. Diplomatic contacts had led to a Bull Hornian delegation coming to Beijing; eager to make a good impression, Zhao and Bei were waiting at Zhao International Airport for their guests. A full military honour guard was on hand, as well as the obligatory schoolchildren bearing bouquets of flowers. If all went well, then it could lead to a new era in Eastasian diplomacy.

Aaron was in the small passenger jet, the flight had been quite nice, wine, fine foods and other luxuries. The plane touched down, *squeak*.
After disembarking from the plane he met the people who he would be privileged to meet with, Kristan Zhao and Ruiyan Bei, Aaron began, "Hello, May these talks bring glory to both nations."

Zhao grinned broadly at Aaron and gave his hand a hearty shake while Ruiyan Bei gestured for the children; Aaron would find himself presented with two large bouquets of flowers by the beaming schoolgoers. After the national anthems of both nations had been played and Aaron had been led past the military honour guard, he was ushered into one of the waiting limousines with Zhao and Bei.
As the convoy drove through Beijing on its way towards Zhongnanhai, Zhao turned to his guest.
"I must admit, it truly is a pleasure to have you here. We've had to endure nothing but capitalist-imperialists in the world; it's wonderful to find another nation with similar ideas to our own. It is my belief that these talks will form the foundation of a glorious friendship between our peoples; we both have much to offer, after all."

"Yes, We both have much to offer. My country has small natural gas and oil deposits and your country has the industrial power to produce."

18-02-2008, 17:22
"My thoughts exactly. Not only does the UER have industrial power, but we also have financial power; I know that my nation would be pleased to assist Bull Horns Rule with the development of your oil and gas industries if you would like. Ah, we are here."
After arriving at Zhongnanhai, Zhao gave Aaron a brief tour of the complex before showing him the quarters set aside for him.
"Would you like to take some time to relax or do you wish to launch straight into the talks?"

"I relaxed enough on the plane and I feel the sooner we get to the talks the sooner our nations will prosper."

"I must admit, I like your determination."
Zhao ushered Aaron into a nearby conference room which had been made ready for the discussions; as the involved parties took their seats, water was provided as well as a buffet. Premier Zhao kicked things off.
"The United Eastasian Republic has always maintained a foreign policy directive regarding fellow socialist states, even though it has rarely been used. With the rise of Bull Horns Rule, we will now be implementing that directive. The Eastasian people wish to offer a hand of comradeship to the Bull Hornian people, in the hope that we can create a prosperous relationship between us.
First, economic matters. As I stated earlier, if you require any assistance in the development of your oil and gas resources, we will happily accomodate you. If you are willing, we could also dispatch a team of 'facilitators' to your nation. Facilitators will examine your nation's infrastructure and major industries, then draw up recommendations on what sort of aid the UER should supply to maximise the benefits you would gain from it. The UER would also be willing to enter into various trade agreements with Bull Horns Rule, granting you favourable prices on commodities which you might require."

"As you probably already know, we have a developing agricultural market and machinery market. Our nation is also selling all of our tanks to replace with a new, better design (http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom/index.php?showtopic=2205&st=0#entry2910148). Our designers have also worked on a new Air superiority fighter (http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom/index.php?showtopic=2192)."

"Well, we can certainly help with that. The UER would be more than willing to assist with initial production of your new fighter and tank designs. We would also be able to assist in the development of your agricultural and machinery markets. The Eastasian government had to completely reorganise the economic situation when the old Chinese empire fell, and we learnt a lot about how to develop industries; we would like to share our knowledge with you in order for your economy to be strengthened as quickly as possible."
Zhao took a sip of water before continuing.
"Now for other matters. The United Eastasian Republic would be willing to sign a defense agreement with BHR, which would give you access to our defense industries. This would allow you to buy hardware such as anti-aircraft defenses, communications networks and the like; if you wished for your new designs to be mass-produced by the UER until your own manufacturing was sufficiently capable, then this agreement would allow it. We would also be interested in purchasing production rights to these designs, for our own use only and not for export to others. Of course, if such an agreement is to your liking."

"We welcome your offers with open arms, after the nuclear power accident in Ukraine half our country was irradiated, we are still feeling the effects. As for a defence agreement, we say yes."

Zhao beamed at Aaron's statement.
"Excellent, most excellent! There is one final proposal that we would like to put before you; it is merely a pet idea of mine which has never gotten off the ground before due to lack of potential participants.
Basically, I have always wanted to establish an organisation comprised of socialist nations. This organisation would meet once a year to discuss the global situation for socialism and consider ways to improve our position. Rather than being some binding treaty which forces you into action that you may feel uncertain about, my idea is more of a circle of friends who meet up and help each other out if possible. That way, no-one imposes action on the others, and we all proceed at our own desired pace. It would be called the Socialist International. Not very imaginative I admit, but it gets the point across.
Anyway, now that I have finished talking, are there any matters you would like to bring up?"

"Sounds promising, yes, Bull Horns Rule would be interested."
OOC: Sorry, Haven't been on a lot today, had to go to equipment demonstration, and even worse, the equipment on my farm is way better.

OOC: Ah, don't worry about it. We all have lives :)
IC:
Zhao grinned at Aaron's response.
"I can see that our nations are going to get along extremely well. So, are there any matters that you would like to discuss apart from those we've already covered? Any questions you'd like to ask?"

"I seemed to have forgot, our country has a very promising antipersonnel mine design too. Also, we are interested in starting a space program, maybe we could have a joint program."
OOC: The job the equipment was supposed to do was chop up a round bale, the mixer we have takes 15 minutes, that piece of equipment took 1 hour, and did a very shitty job. 10 degrees Fahrenheit and the wind was blowing.

"Interesting that you mention a space program, as we are currently involved in a multi-national cooperative to put a space station in orbit. Anyway, we would have no problem assisting you in development of your own space program. We could cooperate on satellite construction and then the UER could launch them for you until such time as your own launch facility was operational.
As for the antipersonnel mine, we would be interested in assisting with that as well. We wouldn't mind deploying something extra along our border with the Russians....not that we expect trouble from them, but they can a bit unpredictable and close-minded at times. Better safe than sorry, I believe is the term.
Oh, while I think of it, would you be interested in a supply of, as we call them, 'Premier Screens'? Basically they're huge telescreens which we have in public places all over the UER; that way, if your President has an important announcement to make then it reaches people if they're in their homes or not. We also show patriotic movies and the like to keep the people entertained while they go about their daily business."
OOC: Wow, that equipment doesn't exactly sound top-of-the-line.

IC: True, better safe than sorry, so how many mines will you want? As for the space program, it seems promising. And we would be interested in telescreens.

"I'll have to check with my Defense Ministry about the number of mines. As far as the telescreens are concerned, we can produce as many as you need.
With regard to the space program, perhaps you would like to send a representative or two to experience our taikonaut training regime; that way you can see our program in action. We would also welcome any input you may have regarding our space station venture."
Ruiyan Bei whispered something to Zhao, who nodded and turned back to Aaron.
"I have just been reminded that we can offer you some assistance in power generation, if you are interested. We produce a great deal of hydroelectricity in the UER, and it's possible that we might be able to assist in the construction of smaller-scale facilities in BHR, if you are interested."

We have just released our designs (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=549836) to the international market, the UER will receive a 10% discount. As for the astronauts, we would be pleased to see your program. We have a lot of rivers in BHR so hydroelectricity would benefit us a lot.

"We greatly appreciate such a discount, thank you. I'll have the Eastasian People's Space Agency contact your government regarding the space program, and we'll send a facilitator team to BHR so that we can determine the best sites for hydroelectrical development.
I must say, I'm enjoying this; we rarely get such cordial conversation from others. Is there anything else we might be able to provide to our comrades in BHR?"

Not at the moment I believe. We will contact you if we need something.
