Eden IV

Our nation has very little natural resources, and we are very new. Government personell are having a hard time managing this nation as we have not yet set up the foundation of our economy. Rebels, riots, or even civil war are possible threats, and we seek nations that are willing to supply us with some military units, establish long time trade, and maybe even allie formations.

Thank you,
President Charles Robertson

Mr President,
We have heard of your peril and want to help you out. We therefore suggest that you join the Fegosian Union (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=543490), an alliance of nations dedicated to free trade and mutual defence. We will protect you against your enemies, both external and internal, our corporations will help build up your economy and provide employment for your citizens, our soldiers will help train yours. We are working for a better world, a world of peace and ecvonomic stability. We want you to join us in that journey, glorious people of Eden IV. If you choose to do so, it is an decision that you will not regret.

In the Empire's service,

Marius Stee,
Minister of Foreign Affairs

. . .and a suggestion that will not go un-noticed.

Thank so very much.

The Premier looked at the message. "Ha ha ha," he laughed. "Some fifth world nation that can't wipe their own asses want's some money. Sergey, send them a gift basket or something. Make sure it's the one without the premium vodka in it."

As you mock our nation I wonder, you were once small as well, and pathetic as we are now. Why must you act so immaturely towards our people? We are not harming or mocking you in any way. Why throw away trade when you can benefit your own economy. What a low and discusting form of government you have. Be ashamed of yourself.

To President Charles Robinson of Eden IV,

You yourself have just admitted your nation has no allies and very little in the way of natural resources, but believe it is wise to provoke a nation who, along with having a military never more than a hair's breadth away from performing acts of unspeakable brutality, has absolutely no qualms about crushing nations your size for even the slightest insult. The only reason you and the rest of your economically-deprived little state are not currently labouring under the Theoroshian jackboot is because of your lack of natural resources; my esteemed colleague the Premier of Theoroshia has made quite clear in the past that his nation's expansionism is only really concerned with claiming resources. Ironically, we take a diametrically opposite view, mostly because the one thing we are low on is land; the only reason you are not a prisoner of our Armed Forces now is because they have other concerns to attend.

Hence, we offer you this advice - one should only poke a bear with a stick if the bear is harmless and one is heavily armed. You are anything but armed, and we are anything but harmless. By all means, accept the invitation to join the Fegosian Union; if you believe giving over your nation's sovereignty to a state no less power-hungry than my good friend in Theoroshia is a sensible, then we will look forward to liberating your peoples and sending you yourself to the quiet of the grave.

Yours,
Brother-Captain Stian Ellingsen

To The Leader of the Nation of Eden IV,

Hello and welcome the world, I may not be the first to say this but still welcome. The Imperial Republic wishes to establish alliances between each other and if possible trade slots. We will be willing to send diplomats to help you government take control over its people and military forces to help train your troops and govern you population until you are well enough to do that yourself. In return if you are to ever find a large oil mine or feild you have to save a portion of the feild for us so that we may mine it. That is a pretty one sided deal if you ask me, Grestonian soldiers are some of the best to come by, think of how great your nation will be if all of your soldiers anf officers were trained just as well as the soldiers from Greston.

OOC: No time to IC now, but alliances are quite a good idea for now. I'd reccomend the DAN, (being part of it) but any alliance is a good step.

It is said that alone of all animals man has ascended the base urges of the animals, and that we alone are the pinnacle of creation. You shall find that this is untrue, and the only difference between the wolf and man is he has traded in his teeth for a more subtle weapon. It is said that a wolf can tear a man's throat out in under a second, but man has within in him the malice to crush one's soul over a period of years and leave it gasping under the torn scraps of former promises.

Proverbially we are not wolves, and we hope you shall consider our offer as such. It is quite simple, the Holy Church of Waldenburg wishes to convert your population to it's fold. We do not demand your forced conversion, we will not bring steel, we only ask for the chance to build our churches and spread our psalms. If they do not sit well they need not be heeded, that is all we ask. In exchange we will offer you 125 Billion Reichmarks {(RI§) 225bil$} yearly for your government to spend as it wishes. We shall also send Waldenburger officers, and training material for your armed forces. We pray this is acceptable, and of course if your population convert then your nation would join the fold of the Church which encompasses nearly 55 Billion people across the world, We protect our brothers above all things.

As for the issue of trade I am instructed to inform Eden that the Waldenburg Empire is always willing to trade, and would most certainly consider it an honor if Eden became a counterpart to Imperial economics.

It doesn't take long for the vultures and warmongers to emerge from their holes, it seems.

To the nation of Eden IV, we welcome you to the world. It is always a pleasure to see new nations making their part.

Whilst we in no way condone your comments to Faxanavia, we also most express our distaste at McPsychoville's response - thinly-veiled threats of invasion are not taken lightly by anyone - and rest assured Barronia will take all necessary steps to ensure that in the event of invasion, you emerge victorious.

We recommend either the Fegosian Union or the Silver Imperium - both are organisations of excellent heritage, and are well-accustomed to taking younger nations under their wing - note that we are not members of either.

Alliances available to Eden IV include, UFAN and ADAN - Barronia is part of the former, and the aid and ability given from these organisations is undoubtedly useful to any nation.

To President Robertson,

Consider this a postscript to Brother-Captain Ellingsen's message, but an urgent addition.

In his haste to whine about our aggressive persona used on the world stage, we note that Barronia was equally swift to push you in the direction of two potential alliances, the A-DAN and the UFAN, but we cannot emphasise strongly enough that you should NOT join either. We need to make it clear to you that our reaction to your reaction towards Theoroshia was nothing but fine words designed to keep our relation with them good; although we doubt their imperialistic ambitions are likely to ever lead to them attacking us, having their force for our disposal is always a good thing. This is not intended as an act of sabotage, for we are genuinely interested in helping.

You might notice that at the foot of the communique from Barronia is a sizable list of Barronian colonies and protectorates, although we can't be certain, for the last communique we received from them came several months. Colonies and protectorates, however, are free states of their own - Gresta, Barronian Cazelia and their ilk are not, for they were acquired by violence and answer to a leader completely disinterested in their welfare. We first began espionage operations a little after the Cazelian conflict, and not one of the protectorates listed ever had a choice in the matter. If you want to remain a free state of your own, stay as far away from Barronia as you possibly can.

The ADAN is both similar and dissimilar at the same time. Though nations are free to enter the alliance at any time, it's nigh-on impossible to leave without having the various other member-states become hostile. That normally wouldn't even be a deal-breaking problem in itself, but when you become a member of the ADAN, you are obligated to supply troops to a conflict involving a fellow member regardless of how you feel on the issue. On top of that, they strip away a vast portion of your sovereignty in one fell swoop; they claim to make the collective allied force available, but in practice this only occurs after your requests have been debated over at length and are almost always rejected. We ourselves witnessed an example a few decades before, where a nation not much larger than yours were faced with a fiercely expansionist neighbour - their requests for aid in a pre-emptive strike were flatly refused, then the request for increased border security was debated for fully two years. By that time, the unlucky nation had been decimated.

Please take these words into consideration. We have no wish to go to war against another unwilling protectorate.

Yours sincerely,
Brother-General Samson Cowell

OOC: I assume you know, but are deliberately misleading Eden IV, that most of my colonies were gathered by peaceful means? Skamania and Duloc is protectorate only by marriage of their prince to the Queen of Barronia - we have limited influence on anything they do.

Barronian Cazelia was the only one acquired by force against another nation - the rest were gotten by peaceful colonisation - we tend to try bribery over blowing the snot out of them! And thanks - you've reminded me that my factbook needs updating (it's still not finished after about 3 months, works being a bitch).

If that's the case, fair enough. Carry on :P

OOC: Love it. Can see our nations getting on just swimmingly

Not sure about the bit about the alliances, UFAN kinda stops me from going on a rampage and getting stomped, and I tend to be a bit more careful around the big guys (Questers, AMF, et cetera) as a result...

Oh, and I might add as a postscript - the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Colonial Office is headed by Magistrate Amelie Carpentier-St. Claire - whilst I'm a he, most of the members of my government aren't! No need to go editing now, more of a heads-up.

[No, alliances as a whole are a bad thing. Seriously, check out that Shazbotdom/ESR thread. It starts out as just Shazbotdom vs. ESR and Franberry, but then people start pulling in their allies, the whole thing becomes a huge fucking mess and eventually Shaz pulls out because ESR didn't post for a decade. That's my out-of-character reason for disliking them (and that Antigr and his band of idiots got me suspended and got nothing for flamebaiting themselves); in-character, we're all about nations maintaining their sovereign right to declare war on whoever they wish without having to answer to anybody but themselves. Deals like the ADAN (who seemed to be unable to recognise the difference between in-character and out-of-character posting), where smaller nations are obligated to provide troops to the collective force, but then can't use that collective force without expressed permission from bigger nations I find ridiculous both in and out-of-character.

I'll bear the stuff about your government in mind for the future, although you having women in a position of power is probably just going to irritate my government officials further. To call their social philosophies on women backward would be a vast understatement. And clearly our two nations will love each other, one dedicated to wading into just about every conflict under the sun with fists a-flying and the other too big wusses to fight...:p. That's the party line and I'm sticking to it!]

OOC: I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that front - ESR didn't post because ESR didn't post - not really a reason to beat on alliances on a whole. Admittedly, Alliances do restrict your actions, but it allows me to concentrate more on my diplomatic skills. Cough.

OOC II: Ah, the ornaments concept. We have one or two men in predominant positions - Conrad Strom is our Minister for Defence, for example, because as far as my nation is concerned, some jobs need the testosterone input.

As for party policy, I expect we'll be painting you off as the dirty warmongering, let's-not-give-a-monkey's-left-testicle-about-the-citizenry corruptists, whereas we're the whiter-than-white public-ownership-encouraging for-the-good-of-societists.

Let the games begin ;) However, let's not clutter this guy's thread.

Your deal is accepted. Thank you very much for being so hospitable towards our nation. We do not have much to offer in our ways of trade besides wheat, and minor patches of uranium. Thank you for your military support as well. Please send a telegram to me so we can work privately out of the eyes of other nations.
