President Asimov Gordoni issues a state of emergency today as coal miner strikes continue on. A majority of coal fired power plants throughout the Independent Territories of Garesh have been forced to scale back on production or shut down completely as coal supplies diminish. Last night a third of the populous Western Territories was plunged into darkness as several power plants went offline.

Coal production has all but ceased in the Independent Territories of Garesh and President Gordoni is appealing to foreign assistance in this dire crisis. After last week's bloody masscre involving 1,524 coal miners and state militas, contract negotiations have reached a stalemate. Coal reserves are dwindling in the middle of the fierce Gareshi winter. As of today, the energy crisis has alreadly claimed the lives of 654 innocent Gareshi citizens.

Gordoni states via live broadcast last night, "Esteemed leaders of foreign nations, your assistance as in provisions of petroleum and coal will be a blessing. The Gareshi state will humbly accept all supplies and provisions to help quell this domestic crisis. Thank you all and let this terrible crisis be the foundation for future diplomatic relations"

Emergency Dispatch to the nation of Gareshi:




The people of Karshkovia have heard of your plight and wish to let you know, our country has lignite coal, light and sweet light crude oil, and natural gas available in massive quantities available for shipment.

As a gesture of good faith, we have dispatched five 40,000 tonne coal ships to your country fully loaded with coal to assist your nation in it's time of need. Four state-owned oil tankers of 290,000 metric tons are also on their way. Two are loaded fully with 2.48 million barrels of crude oil each. One is loaded with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and the other contains liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The contents of these ships are a gift from the people of Karshkovia to the people of Gareshi. We remember too well what it is like to go without and we would like to see no people need face that difficulty again.

To that end, we have also wired your country a gift of $100 Billion Universal Standard Dollars (USD) for use in updating your power grid and power stations.

We would be more than willing to provide you with a 25 million artic pound credit, so that you can purchase coal, oil and gas from. It will be interest-free and can be paid back within the ten years. As a gesture of goodwill the government will provide for the speedy transport of energy goods if they are purchased from Artican energy companies. We will also send a team of Ministry of Power experts to inspect your current energy system and make recommendations for improvements. If your are having severe difficulties, perhaps you might consider a change of contract- our energy corporations are up to date and very efficient, clearly the opposite of the current companies.

On behalf of the Independent Territories of Garesh we thank you personally. Your emergency provisions will provide power for the thousands of young, elderly, and sickly Gareshi citizens. We will accept the Karshkovian fleet of coal freighters, oil tankers, and LPG/LNG tankers. The Karshkovian supply fleet will be awaited with open arms and joy. Moreover, the gratitude of The Artic Republics on behalf of offering funds to update and retrofit the Gareshi power grid will be accepted. The Independent Territories of Garesh pleases to repay the nations of Karshkovia and The Artic Republics with each 45.2 million universal standard dollars worth of standard gold and silver ingots. Please take this gift as a token of our in debtness to your gratitude in this time of domestic crisis.
