The Air War in Cyncia started by the launch of aircraft by the 2 Aircraft Carriers in Thive Territorial Waters. The first wave numbering 100 Fighters attacked the airbase near the Thive-Cyncia Border destroying 60% of the aircraft stationed there. The airfield buildings were bombed by the second wave numbering 20 B52Hs carrying Incendiary Devices. The buildings were immediately set on fire sending thick smoke into the air. More objectives including radar posts near the Thive-Cyncia Border was also targeted. Also the Cyncian Capital's factories were targeted but by only small number of aircraft so to avoid civilian casualties.

01:00 Thive Time, 19:00 Colstream Time, 17:00 GMT:

12 Colstream Divisions began to mass on the Southern area of the Thive-Cyncia Border. The remaining 8 was in reserve to replace soldiers that would be killed or wounded. Also it would replace armour that was damaged or destroyed by the enemy or wear and tear. The main Tank types in Theatre was the new MS2 Panther MBT and the Slightly Older Varient MS1 Panther MBT. They would be up against mainly T-62s and T-54s but some Cyncian Units have T-64s and T-72s. The main APC varient was the K145 APC but some had BMP-3 APCs and BMP-2 APCs. All the Divisions was up to full strength and had new equipment. Most had battle experience but some new recruits was also mixed to give them experience. Most were drafted under the new Colstream Compulsory Military Service Bill that Colstream Citizens 16 and over must do 4 years compulsory military service after 2 years training.

Total Air Superiority had been achieved and C130J Hercules Transports were landing at Airfields behind the Border dropping off units. They would then be sent to rear areas before being sent to their start points.

The massive bronze doors to the Council Room in the west wing of the Imperial Palace were closed. Inside the room the Imperial Council was sitting around a large table. The nine men were chatting quietly among themselves, waiting for the Emperor to arrive. The young Minister of Interior Affairs, Conrad Sterling, turned to the Minister of Justice, Max Speidel. "Do you know why we are here?", he said quietly. "Have something happened abroad?" The older man shook his head. "I don't know. Ask Marius or Richard, they are the ones that handle that part. I'm just as curious as you are".
Right then the bronze doors opened and the Emperor strode in, followed by two storm legionaries in black uniforms. He sat down at the rear end of the table while the soldiers closed the doors.
"Good evening", he said. The silver mask that covered half of his face made the voice sound cold and harsh. "You have been assembled here today to discuss an important issue regarding the Republic of Colstream. As you know, we have helped them dealing with a couple of rebellions. Well, they seem to have stabilized both politically and economically since the last one, when their capital was destroyed by a nuclear device. They have now accused another country, called Cyncia, for supporting terrorism and are invading them".
He turned to the Director of State Security. "Richard, could you explain the situation more detailed?"
The man bowed. "Of course, your majesty". He took out a folder with "Cyncia" printed on the front and. "Cyncia is a country bordering the Colstream province of Thive, which we helped to liberate a while ago. The current leader is General Mishaf Preisher. The country have a very weak economy but a strong army, numbering 2 million men. The government has, as his majesty mentioned, spent much money supporting terrorist organisations. We have reports coming in that the Colstreamians have achieved total air superiority and are landing airborne troops behind the border. About 20 Colstreamian divisions are participating in the campaign. Well, that pretty much sums it up". He bowed again and sat down. The Emperor spoke again.
"So, now that we heard the intelligence report, what actions should we take? We currently have 200,000 men stationed in the Colstream mainland. Lucifer has spoken to general Vollmer, who is in charge of our troops in Colstream, and he says that we could get about 15-20,000 men to Cyncia withing five days, with the possibility of 50,000 within two weeks. Now, what is your opinions?"
The Minister of Foreign Affairs rised. "We should intervene. Colstream is an important trading partner, and a bit of goodwill never hurts. They will handle the main battle part, so we won't suffer that many casualties".
The Emperor nodded. "Any other opinions?" There were none. "Good. The Council has taken the decision to intervene in Cyncia. Hereby i declare this meeting over".

06:00 Thive Time, 0:00 Colstream Time, 22:00 GMT:

12 of the 20 Divisions started to move over the border. They now moved to secure their first objectives.

Phase 1 was put in motion. They would establish a 5 mile bridgehead along the border and then reinforce the bridgehead.
Estmated Time to Complete: 24 hours.

Phase 2 would be a co-ordinated push to take the port of Greisha in the Northeast of the island 10 miles from the border.
Estmated Time to Complete: 3 Days

Phase 3 would be the Port being used as a base to expand the bridgehead to 20 miles.
Estmated Time to Complete: 3 Days

Phase 4 was to engage the Cyncian Army in several engagements and then draw as many divisions away from the capital and pushing them onto the Northern and Western Coasts.

Estmated Time to Complete: 7 Days

Phase 5 would be then to advance on the Cyncian Capital, Cyncia City, while keeping civilian casualties to a minimum.
Estmated Time to Complete: 7 Days

Estimated time of campaign 3 weeks.

A Artillery Bombardment had started 1 mile from the airborne forces behind the border to cover the aircraft arriving and departing.

20 Miles from the Cyncia-Thive Border:

One Division of the Cyncian Army was on the move. Mobilisation had been started 2 hours after the first air attacks. This meant that some divisions had been unable to push towards the border and prevent the airborne landings from taking place. 100,000 men started the slow move towards their prearranged defensive positions, about 5 miles away. General Mishaf Preisher had said on National Television that the Cyncian people would fight to the last. The soldiers knew that the last leader that spoke that against the Republic Of Colstream, led to him being killed and his country overun. They knew that they would find it hard due to the lack of modern equipment, but they knew it was their duty to fight. After a further 20 minutes, they reached their positions and started to dig in. They soon however started to lose men from artillery which to the soldiers was accurate and deadly. They were, like many other of their comrades, in for a long night....

At around 8 am local time, the airborne units were finally relieved and bypassed by Colstream Units. No resistance had occured yet and was about 5 hours from completing the advance and another 10 hours from geeting the equipment forward from the bases in the west of Thive. The Colstream Navy was moving down the North Coast to blockade Greisha from reinforcement. Colstream Soldiers had recieved word that Zaheran was going to help them, but did not know when. That had lifted their spirits and had morale was very high.

Michael Vollmer woke up as his adjutant knocked on the door. "What is it?", he growled sleepily while getting dressed.
"I'm sorry I had to wake you, sir", the man answered. "The Ministry of Defence has sent a message that you need to look at. For-your-eyes-only, urgent. Something has happened".
"Surely they want us to participate in that damned campaign up in Cyncia. Oh well, I'm coming. Make me some coffee, please".
"At once, sir". Vollmer could hear him disappear into the small canteen in the staff barack. He finished his dressing and opened the door. The bright sunlight made him blink. He yawned and walked over to the canteen. The adjutant was waiting with a cup of coffee, a tray with croissants and and the usual pile of reports. On the top of the pile was a sealed envelope with "Urgent" written on it in big letters. Vollmer took a bite of a croissant and opened the envelope. He read through the message inside two times. "Wake up Kahler, Lehmann and Hart", he told the young officer. "Tell them to get here as fast as possible. We're going to Cyncia".

At the same time in the homeland, a official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pushed a button, sending out a communique that the Minister of Foreign Affairs had written the day before.

In the light of the recent events in the Republic of Colstream, his Majesty's government has decided to pledge our support to Colstream in it's campaign against the rouge state of Cyncia. We choose to believe the Republic in it's accuse of the Cyncian government supporting terrorism. The Cyncian government is responsible for the death of hundreds of Zaheranian soldiers acting as peace keepers in the province of Thive and mainland Colstream. The Cyncian government has 24 hours to resign and hand themselves over to Colstream or Zaheranian forces for trial by law. If this demand is not met, his Majesty's government will declare war against the nation of Cyncia and remove the regime with force, if neccessary.

In service of the Empire,

Marius Stee
Minister of Foreign Affairs

General Mishaf Preisher received the communique in his bunker underneath his Palace. He read it several times and sent this rude response:

To Marius Stee
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Zaheran

The Cyncian Government rejects these terms outright. We will NOT resign our government. Due to the threat issued by you corrupt government, Cyncia declares war on Zaheran. We have already been at war with Colstream since yesterday morning. LONG LIVE CYNCIA!! LONG LIVE THE REVOLUTION!! DEATH TO THE IMPERIALIST SCUM!!!

Sincerely,
General Mishaf Preisher
Ruler of the Terroristic Dictatorship Of Cyncia.

Meanwhile, the Colstream Army had met the first Cyncian Army units at a town called Jikansa. The Cyncian Army had dug in along the eastern outskirts of the town and had several 77mm Howizers to support them.
The Colstream Army however had 50,000 soldiers plus 60 MS2 Panther MBTs. These Tanks armed with 125mm Guns and protected by Chobham/Steel Armour, initiated a "Thunder Run" into the town totally out flanking the position. Shells from the guns struck several MS2 Panthers but bounced off and rebounding back towards the guns themselves killing their own men. After a 3 hour battle, the 77mm Howizers position was finally destroyed by 2 A-10 Thunderbolts dropping 1 3000lb Thermobarbaric Bomb into the position destroying the gun and the soldiers manning it.

Phase 2 had already started with 100,000 Soldiers, 30 APCs and 45 Tanks moving at a modest Pace northeast to secure Greisha. Resistance was heavy, which prompted a new timetable to be drawn up. Another Phase had been added to the timetable. A up to date timetable would be broadcast every few days.

Timetable-Operation: Brute Force

Phase 1 was put in motion. They would establish a 5 mile bridgehead along the border and then reinforce the bridgehead.
Estmated Time to Complete: Completed in 24 Hours

Phase 2 would be a co-ordinated push to take the port of Greisha in the Northeast of the island 10 miles from the border.
Estmated Time to Complete: 4 Days

Phase 3 would be a battle to wear down the Cyncian Army
Estmated Time to Complete: 7 Days

Phase 4 would be the Port being used as a base to expand the bridgehead to 20 miles.
Estmated Time to Complete: 3 Days

Phase 5 was to engage the Cyncian Army in several engagements and then draw as many divisions away from the capital and pushing them onto the Northern and Western Coasts.

Estmated Time to Complete: 7 Days

Phase 6 would be then to advance on the Cyncian Capital, Cyncia City, while keeping civilian casualties to a minimum.
Estmated Time to Complete: 7 Days

Estimated time of campaign: Around 4 weeks.

Marius just shook his head when he saw the reply. "How the hell did such an idiot become the leader of a nation?", he thought out loud. "Joachim!", he shouted to a senior official walking by. "I think we have a worthy candidate to Idiot of the Month. Come look at this!"
The man took the paper and read through it. He laughted.
"Funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Was that really a declaration of war?"
The Minister turned serious. "Yes, it was. Contact Defence and explain this to them. Seems like we have to take the gloves off". The smile returned. "When you're done, send in this to ZSC. I think that this mr Preisher will do well as Idiot of the Month".
The official smiled and walked away. Marius began to write a response to the strange message.

Official reply to General Mishaf Preisher, leader of the rogue state of Cyncia

You have chosen a dangerous path, mr Preisher. The Holy Empire will not tolerate your insults against our country any longer. A state of war now exist between our countries, and we will not rest until our legionaries drag you before the throne of the Emperor. Your life is now forfeited, mr Preisher. The end will come, be sure of that, one way or another. You have challenged Zaheran, and now you will pay the price for your ignorance.

In service of the Empire,

Marius Stee
Minister of Foreign Affairs

Regional HQ 1, Colstream
Five hours later

Michael Vollmer looked out over the huge crowd of soldiers gathered at the drill yard, 3,000 all in all. They cheered when he got into sight, for he was a popular general. He raised his hand and the cheering died out.
"Men!", he shouted. "Earlier today the rogue state of Cyncia declared war at our glorious empire when we tried to mediate in the conflict betwen them and the Republic of Colstream". The soldiers roared out their rage. "Such an insult will of course not be tolerated. Therefore, at his Majesty's orders, we are going to Cyncia to show them what happens to them who challenges Zaheran!" Another unison roar from the legionaries. "We will win this battle, for there are no better warriors than you, the Emperor's own soldiers!" This time the roar was even stronger than before. Vollmer nodded to himself. Good. He had managed to lit a fire in their hearts. They were filled with rage, ready to kill the enemy with their bare hands if neccessary. "Board the trucks!", he shouted. "We're going to Cyncia!"

The attack had penetrated 6 miles already in 18 hours. The news that General Preisher had insulted Zaheran into war had boosted their morale further. A Tank Battle at a town called Jurea between 50 Cyncian Army T-72 MBTS and 20 MS2 Panther MBTS of 23rd Division ended with 40 Destroyed and the rest abandoned with no loss to the Colstreamers. They had started already to seige Greisha on its perimeter. They were now 3 Days ahead of the plan.

Meanwhile, a secret base in the Colstream Mainland:

The ICBM Silo opened to reveal the new Colstream Secret Weapon. It was the TWM-1(Thermo-Warhead Missile-1), a Missile carrying a 30,000lb Rocket Fuel Warhead on it, capable of doing 8000 Miles on a full tank and undectable to radar. It would leave a 1 mile square wide scar on the landscape upon detonation. Target: Cyncia City Industrial Centre.

At 21:00 Colstream Time, the rocket was launched. The only way it could be tracked would be via a small device built into the rocket. It is radar guided
and could only be destroyed by crashing it into the ground or into the sea.

Thive

Colonel Ernst Peipel wiped the seat from his brow. The sun was shining mercilessy on the 500 legionaries from Fort Stahl, the base established in Thive after the war, as they moved towards the Cyncian border. The force was more symbolic than for serious fighting, but it would show the Colstreamers that the soldiers of Zaheran were ready to fight by their side. Vollmer had promised to arrive with reinforcements within two days, so Peipel's mission was to contact the Colstream forces and get an overview over the strategic situation. Still, the legionaries was a quite potent fighting force, filled with rage and hatred as they were. Peipel smiled. Life would be quite hard for any Cyncian that got into the sight of these soldiers.

Colstream

The logistic problems had proven to be smaller than expected, and general Vollmer were now supervizing the loading of 3,000 soldiers into the transport ships that would take them to Cyncia. Another 2,000 were en route from Zaheran. The Cyncian declaration of war had speeded up things. He smiled to himself. The bureucrauts in the Ministry of Defence were jumping at the chance to teach the Cyncians a lesson. His smile faded as he looked atn the thousands of young men below, going for a unknown destiny in a foreign country. How many will never return?, he thought. How many young men, Zaheranian, Colstreamian and Cyncian, will die because of the actions of the madman ruling Cyncia? He shook his head. It was never the generals that wanted war, it was the politicians. We have seen the real war, he thought, the horrible wound, the missing limbs, the rotting corpses. They just see figures on a paper. Beneath him, the loading continued.

Cyncian City, 02:30 AM:

The TWM-1 Missile flew over the city. The target was now seconds away. The missiles rocket motor reduced its thrust and the rocket started to arc downwards. 20 seconds later and the rocket struck a power plant. The 30,000lb warhead exploded consuming another 4 factories in a massive fireball. The electricity went out for the west side of the city. The blast had blown a mile square scar into the area killing around 600 people outright and injuring many from debris and heat.

Greisha, 12:00 PM:

The port was in a mess. The beseiging Colstream Army had reduced the forts to smoking ruins by continous shelling by 155mm M1973 (2S3) Self Propelled Guns and 203mm M1975 (2S7) Self Propelled Guns. The 203mm shells had caused the most damage, taking apart most forts in one direct hit and obliterating warehouses. Also several 240mm SPM M1975 (2S4) Self Propelled Guns had also been deployed to destroy bunkers built into the hills surrounding the port and some heavily fortified positions around the main part of the city. The 240mm Shells could destroy them also with one hit and had been disabled before the Cyncian Army could occupy them. Raids by B52H bombers had destroyed a factory that was producing ammunition for the 10 divisions trapped. The port area however had been untouched. The bombing was also keeping the Cyncian Army from attempting to destroy the equipment, facilities and fuel stores kept in the port area.

Meanwhile the plan had been scrapped and the campaign would be conducted according the situation on the ground. The Colstream Army had penetrated 15 miles West of the Thive-Cyncian Border on a front stretching from the North to the South of Cyncia. Cyncian Army units had lost around 2000 soldiers already. The armoured units had been in action twice being on the losing side both times losing 50 Tanks.

"Land in sight!", a officer shouted. Admiral Dakher looked up from the maps. Had they already reached land? He looked out of the window. Yes, there it was, the homeland of the Cyncians that had declared war against his country. Excellent.
"All combat personnel to the the landing craft!", a voice shouted over the ship's internal communication system. "I repeat, all combat presonnel to the landing craft!"
Dakhar smiled. 5,000 Zaheranian soldiers were preparing for the largest amphibious assault in the history of the country. Their primary mission was to establish and hold a bridgehead at the coast, so that the other 25,000 soldiers right now loading into their transports back in Colstream could be landed effectively. 50,000 would follow in the third wave, followed by 75,000 in the fourth and so on. The Cyncian would soon realize that they had choosen the wrong country to declare war on.

Captain Maximilian Bayer, right now commanding a landing craft, was not as positive. He had participated in amphibious assaults before and knew that this would be a bloody affair if the Cyncians had any kind of defence on the beach. He sighed. You could only die once. At least the majority of the 60 soldiers in the boat were veterans, who knew to keep their heads down. The signal was given and the landing craft began to rush against the beach...

The Northern Coastal defences was alerted. Pillboxes contianing 7.62 PKMs opened up onto the landing craft. 90mm Mortar Shells also began to splash around sending water everywhere. The Cyncian Army had managed to radio units west of the beaches for reinforcements. Some had even disengaged from fighting the Colstream Army to help.

A Signal was sent to the Zaheran Commander.

To Zaheran Commander,Admiral Dakher :

You have the Northern Flank. Once we have Greisha in Colstream Hands you can disembark your forces there. The Fortress Cities of Hytran and Lopina are your first objectives 20 miles west and Southwest of Greisha. The hills surrounding the west of Greisha is not secured and needs to be secured when you have landed in strength. Only 2 Divisions occupy the beaches near there so it will be easy. Beware, some armoured units are on the road blocking the way to Hytran and Lopina.

"Get your down head down!" Maximilan threw himself over a young recruit trying to look over the gunwale. Bullets whistled past the boat and the soldiers were splashed with water as a mortar shell hit the water nearby. There was a loud explosion as another hit a boat nearby, sending debris and body parts raining over the water. At last the boat hit the shore with a thud, the thrust sending the soldiers falling to the floor. Maximilian quickly got on his feet again and jumped over the gunwale, wading as fast as he could against the beach. "Get moving!", he shouted. "If you stand still you are dead men!" Bodies already covered the beach as Maximilian finally got up from the water, rushing to take cover behind a sand dune. A soldier beside him took a round to the shoulder and fell to the ground. Maximilian dragged him into cover. He could hear the explosions as missiles from the supporting ships were fired against the bunkers and artillery positions. He looked around him and saw that he still had 20 of his men with him. "Legionaries!", he roared. "Let's take out those damned bunkers!"
Not waiting for an answer he jumped out of cover and rushed further up the beach. All over the battlefield, other soldiers were doing the same.

Have entered Greisha. Can now enter and disembark your soldiers and equipment. Dock Facilities is undamaged. Good Luck on landing your soldiers on the beaches. Colstream Air Force is on hand to support you if you want it

The Cyncian Army had taken 120 Casualties since the landings started. The Cyncian artillery had been silenced but the mortar crews safe in their fortified positionbs above the beach, raining deadly fire onto the beach and the landing craft. A Colstream Air Force F-22 Raptor dropped 2 1000 lb bombs on a bunker housing a 50 Cal Machine Gun destroying it and causing the fire to slack off a bit. A C-130 Spectre Gunship flew over firing its 105mm Howizer and 40mm Bofors Cannon ripped into the hilltop overlooking the beach silencing the mortars.

Laying down behind another sand dune, Maximilian was thinking. He now had about 50 soldiers under his command, both from his and other units. Among them was a couple with a light mortar. If the mortar could give them supporting fire, they might actually make it it alive to the top of the beach. Hell, he thought, why not? It might just work.
"You there!", he shouted. "Get over here with that thing!" The men dragged the mortar into cover behind the dune. "Listen carefully", Maximilian said. "We will try to make a rush for those bunkers, and you will cover us. Aim at the bunkers and keep as high a firing rate as you can. Smoke grenades to begin with, then live ammunition. Do you understand me?"
The men nodded. "Good. Come on now, legionaries!", he shouted to the others. "Make a rush for the bunkers!" He jumped over the sand dune and ran in zic-zac against the bunkers, his comrades following right behind. A mortar round exploded among the bunkers, laying out a smoke screen.

"Do the senate approve?"
"Wait..."

One of the junior officers was operating one of the many hundreds of console units on long desks facing a massive main screen bank and holodesk. The current focus was of the latest operation that Colstream had started. With good reasons in the eyes of the Heads of the Military, and with some rather rapid results coming sometime soon.

On the screen, a sea of men dressed in black, orange, red or white robes were sitting in the Senate hall in New Zevkhay, throwing questions at the speakers and the Consul who sat in the centre of the chamber, overlooked by the President from a high balcony. On a large holodesk between the two speakers, the number of those voted was displayed, above the main presentation displays from the two speakers. It soon was at the top, and the screen flashed to show the final result: a majority vote in favour of action.

"Alright, we have permission to carry out Operation Sparrowhawk. Send the message to Flotilla Commander Ryan to commence Battleplan Alpha, and to keep all ships data feeds on. We want no FFing and no Civy deaths, OK?"
"Yes sir!"

Message to Cynicia

We have watched your nation with great amusement, and have seen you reject what essentially would be our offer of a mutual deal. We wish to warn you of the impending storm, and of the great suffering that your government will receive. Believe us in saying that we take no prisoners of war.

We have also started a vote amongst the Fegosian Union on the deployment of the Rapid Reaction Force: 3 Divisions of well trained, Highly equipped soldiers with the support of all alliance members. They will guarentee the death of your regime. Unless you are willing to offer to surrender, we will continue with the imminant attack.

_______________________________________

The attack was one to ensure a swift resolution: in co-ordination with orbital resources, the dispatched force would cut straight across the country to the capital, where the aeromarines would be deployed to capture the city and tactically destroy all fortifications and the governemnt in the city. A task that an elite force would do easily. And for the allied forces advancing inland, an armed airship would quickly ensure a swift resolution.

As the first airships passed into Cynician waters, the attack started: 7 Consul-class aerocruisers began to launch their compliment each of 40 Sledgehammer crusie missiles armed with heavy warheads to destroy all anti-air emplacements in the nation that had been cited a hazard to the aerofleet, using satellite feeds to precisely aim each missile to each target.

Meanwhile, the Aero-frigates used the feed of the Sensorcraft to arm their weapons to take out any enemy aircraft, ships, land units or missiles, the first line of protection for the entire Flotilla.

__________________________________________

4 Helios missiles, ICBMs fitted with Explosively-charged Flux Compression generators, were in orbit as the attack started: for the more technically inapt person, basic EMP weapons. The ultimate weapons for disrupting communications in the enemy nation, as well as taking out all electrical installations.

The Blue-striped re-entry phases hummed as they renetered the atmosphere, pieces of chaff, loose panelling and decoys breaking off as they rushed through the atmosphere. Each was programmed to detonate over major enemy cities including the capital (but not the sites of allied movements), with approximate destruction radii going out to 30km for sensitive equipment. If, that was, the load could be carried to the detonation zone without being intercepted.

Maximilian rushed against the bunker. Firing his rifle against the fleeing Cyncians he could almost smell the scent of victory. Suddenly he was thrown off his feet as a shell exploded nearby. He looked up and saw a APC coming against his position. "Armour!", he shouted while rolling into cover behind a bunker. "Take cover!" More shells exploded as his men hid behind trees, in the craters caused by artillery fire or whatever cover they found. Maximilian reloaded his AF-07 and looked out from behind the bunker. Four unmoving bodies and a couple of wounded it seemed. Could be worse, he thought. A grenade whistled past and exploded nearby. The men with the mortar were still firing at the bunker position, with no way of knowing it had already been taken. The risk was high that they would hit one of their own, and Maximilian had no way of telling them to stop. He had to destroy that APC first, but he had no anti-tank weapons with him. Would a grenade do? Probably not, and if he failed their would be no second chance. Suddenly he saw a young soldier making his way up the hill, carrying a man-portable anti-tank missile. Maximilian tried to shout to the man, but just then the soldier caught a bullet in the neck and and fell to the ground. The captain swore and rushed across the open ground, avoiding bullets and shells. He laid two fingers on the mans neck. No pulse. The guy was as dead as a stone. Taking up the anti-tank missile Maximilian aimed at the APC. "Burn in Hell!", he whispered, pushing the button.

The first of the Aerocruisers finished its 5 minute-long barrage, before dropping a section of the missile gondola into the sea below. From the distance, it appeared that the Zaheran forces were having one hell of a time in Greisha. Time to clear up some areas.

"Lets give them a show of force. Use medium saturations of Inland sectors 21 through to 30, and limit cluster munitions. Incendiary munitions are permitted."

Suddenly, as one of the Airships at the fore of the Taskforce began opening fire, a harsh alarm sounded, spreading to the other airships.

"We have incoming! Prep all systems to engage!"

From below, 8 stinger missiles fired in synchrony were spinning towards them, trailing a cloud of thin white smoke. At once, the countermeasures kicked in: the flare launchers began launching along its length while electronic countermeasures began to sing their invisible song. 5 of the missiles succumbed, diving away from the taskforce. The other three continued towards the gasbag of the foremost airship, the AAS Consul.

"Brace for impact!"

There was an explosion as one of the missiles was shredded completely by one of the Hailstorms Active protection systems, followed by two shocks as the missiles exploded on contact with the light envelope of the airship, ripping two gashes in it. Automated systems began to divert gas to other sectors of the airship, while one of the onboard engineers ran down a gantry towards the sites of damage.

"Minimal damage: only a few cells burst. I hope that isn't all they've got! Do they think they can shoot us down with a Stinger?"

From outside, it was easy to see that only 15 of the 10s of thousands of cells had been ripped open, and the smoke traling from the edge of the wounds was already dying away as the engineers onboard began tackling the damage with stick-on patches and fire extinguishers, fixing any broken beams with cable guns.

"Now lets give them hell!"

In response, 8 Screamer missiles shot from the gondola, trailing the scream of tail-mounted sirens as they carried incendiary wahreads towards areas of intense enemy activity. In applause, the other airships began firing, trails of fire and smoke filling the sky. An amazing sight for all, and a portent of doom for those below.

The APC exploded in a shower of hot metal. The folllowing infantry backed off and retreated to the new defensive position.

The Alfegos missiles blew up an ammunition dump behind the beach destroying around 2 days worth of ammunition. It was clear the Cyncian Army had hoped to stay.

TO Alfegos:

Can you join the Colstream Units as you have a low number of men? Also could you route some airships to the Colstream Area as our airships are currently being serviced back in the Colstream Mainland.

The Colstream Self Propelled Artillery had been sent south as Geisha became a rear depot for the allied forces. Colstream Efforts could concentrate on the southern area, where the Cyncian Capital was, 60 miles to the west of the Colstream front line. An estimated 1.5 million men stood along the whole front line. The 12 203mm M1975 (2S7) Self Propelled Guns had been moved from the outskirts of Geisha to new positions along the Southern Part of the Colstream Sector.

02:12 Thive Time 22:00 Colstream Time 20:00 GMT

Without warning, the Cyncian Army opened up a barrage along a 1 mile sector of the Northern Front. 30 Tanks and 2000 Infantry began to advance, determined to force the Zaheran Army out of the war.

The beach was now in Zaheranian hands and the heavier materiel was now being unloaded. Maximilian was resting under a tree, supervizing the reparation of the bunkers, which would now be used to defend the hill from the previous owners. Suddenly an explosion rocked the hill and threw them all off their feets. "Artillery!", Maximilian shouted while crawling up. "Get into the damned bunkers!" Another explosion shook the ground, throwing blood and dirt into the air. He ran into the bunker and closed the door after him. The earth trembled under the heavy artillery fire as he called in on the radio. "Battle Command, this is position Alpha Seven-Oh-Four-Seven. We are under heavy artillery fire, repeat, heavy artillery fire. Requesting reinforcements, over".
"Affirmative, Alpha Seven-Oh-Four-Seven", the man on the other side of the line answered, "We suspect a serious tactical offensive by enemy forces against the bridgehead. Hold your positions at all costs until reinforcements arrive, over".
"Affirmative, Battle Command". He hang up. "Okay boys", he said to the men, "we're up for some serious opposition. We have an excellent defensive position here and will hold it at all costs. You there", he turned to a man in the black and yellow clothes of a Combat Engineer", do we have any mines?"
"Yes, they just arrived. About 50 of them".
"Good. When the artillery fire ends, go out there and spread them out in front of our position. Don't bother digging them down, we don't have time for that. You", he pointed to a group of soldiers", set up some machine gun nests. You there will handle the mortars and you with blonde hair will take care of the tanks. The rest of you", he smiled, "just shoot down as many of the bastards as you can".

OOC: What beach will I be landing on? Name(s) please, together with opposition forces on the beach and within 20 miles of it, plus naval forces to be encountered, how far away at time of entry into Cyncian waters, speed, and armament. That goes for land units as well. In short, I need full data.

GUNFIRE-SUPPORT BATTLECRUISER S.F.F. ST. KIERRASTON

The ship, a gunfire-support battlescruiser dating from 1937, was about to enter enemy waters. Onboard was three battalions of marines to be landed.

When in enemy waters, it would open fire on [insert beach name here] and land it's marines, with the other ships landing the remainder of the five divisions of marines. There would be an air assault at the same time by the 15th Airborne, and after the marines landed, seven army divisions would follow. In all, 196,403 men.

All the men were edgy. Maybe the enemy would intercept the flotilla, maybe...but it was all maybes. All they could do was wait.

We will not be sparing any airships for support and will not be merging into your force, since we are attempting to end this war as rapidly as possible. We apologise for this, but will be continuing with our planned course of action. However, we will be proving large amounts of fire in the landing area of the Zaheran forces, to ensure that a beach-head can be maintained.

_______________________________________

And indeed they did begin to fire. The aero-frigates hid in the shadows of the main airships, firing off the occasional burst of autocannon fire from their underside mounts as the Consuls of Taskforce Spirit moved in towards the Zaheran held beachs. Taskforce Sapphire was 30km to the east, hoping to come around from the side to flank the enemy. Taskforce Gatecrasher was waiting 15km offshore for the two other Taskforces to clear the path for the 432 aeromarines to the capital.

Up here, all was blissfully quiet. The occasional hiss of a roar of the rockets was what disturbed the peace, with the sudden roars of autocannons mixed in for good measure. Down below, the enemy armour would easily see these harbingers of death, yet know they could not touch them. They were intangible, until one of the hundreds of AT missiles they carried onboard connected with one of the vehicles, leaving clouds of smoke billowing up across the battlefront.

Flotilla Commander Ryan sat in his nice chair viewing the sky above and land below in the glass gondola of his ship, the AAS Consul herself. From here, he could see the little pinpricks that were explosions lightening the clouds of smoke, the screens around showing them RADAR and IF feed from the sensorcraft, as well as enemy and friendlies plotted by the ship's onboard computer. His face was bathed in the dim glow of the electronic screens in the darkness of the night, a very dim horizon just suggesting at the possibility of a dawn. It was hell below, but from here it was as if it were on the other side of the world. Then were unphased by the fact that every few seconds they were killing another person with a missile thrust from the gondolas.
He adjusted the sails of the airship a little, allowing the wind to brake him directly above the Zaheran front. Here, a line of fire could be seen, as men and machines waged war on one another. Another explosion lit up a cloud of smoke as missile hit another vehicle.
"When do you think they'll give up? I bet within 24 hours."
"I'll take that offer up sir. Æ20 within 48 hours sir."
A young airman had spoken up from the communications desk, where words, images and voices flickered about the place. He didn't listen to much these days, since the airship computers allowed for an increase in traffic by using vocal-text conversion to allow for faster uptake of information by the officer, and to act as a backup should he be deafened by explosions or alarms.
"Deal. Your name, airman?"
"Airman Hu'lo, sir."
"Don't overdo the sirs with me: do that with others certainly, but I just can't stand that all the time."
"Yes sir...pardon me."

To Antigr:

All forces are disembarking at the Port of Greisha. Beach Landings at Kilo Beach would be useful. The Cyncian Army has gone on the offensive.

To Megalition:

I haven't got a map. Sorry.

The barrage stopped and 20 T-62s, 5 T-72s and 5 Granters moved slowly forward. The Granter Tanks was a varient of the Type 62 Light Tank with its original 85mm Gun. Following them was 200,000 Infantry in BMP-1 APCs and BDX APCs. Some was unmounted to provide cover. They scouted ahaead and reported that the way was clear for about a half a mile and also a river bridge was ahead.

At the same time, the Colstream Air Force hearing the situation on the Northern Front, sent several F-111 Aardvark Strike Fighters armed with Paveways to destroy the bridge nearby and slow them down. At 18:00 Thive Time, the F-111s made their run. The Paveways were dropped on the bridge destroying it. 30 minutes later, the Cyncian Army arrived at the bridge but had to use the smaller roads over the river adding more time for the Zaherans to get reinforcements. The Cyncian Tanks after a hour navigating the small roads, re-entered the main road and continued east.

At 18:30 SPM M1975 (2S4) 240mm Self Propelled Guns in the Southern Front started to pound Cyncian Positions opposite the Colstream Positions. Then 80 Tanks backed by 250,000 Soldiers and 150 Aircraft smashed into the Cyncian Positions. The attack broke through in several areas and by 19:00 had advanced 1 mile in some places. Perfectly executed runs by A-10 Thunderbolt Fighter Bombers and F-111s smashed some Tanks before they could even open fire. The assualt grinded to a halt 2 miles from the start positions as 60 T-72s challenged the mixed group of T-90s, MS1 Panthers and MS2 Panthers. 5 T-90s lost their tracks and fell back as the other tanks pushed forward. One Cyncian T-72 was hit by a 125mm shell from a MS2 Panther and exploded, while another 125mm shell landed in front of onrushing Cyncian Infantry blowing them to pieces. After a 3 hour battle, 15 T-72s retreated leaving 20 damaged and 25 wrecked on the battlefield. The Colstream Army lost 58 Soldiers killed and 149 wounded. Cyncian Infantry losses estimated to be over 300. The Colstream Army paused to regroup and replace their losses. The battle in the North would have to be won before they could advance again.

The delay of the Cyncian offensive had given the defenders of Position Alpha Seven-Oh-Four-Seven time to improve their defences. 100 mines had been diggen down, barbed wire barricades built, six machine gun nests were positioned to crossfire on the enemy and three mortars ready to wreak havoc. Most importantly, fifty more soldiers had arrived, raising the number of defenders to one hundred and twelve. What are they waiting for?, Maximilian thought while studying the area in front of the hill through his binoculars. Each hour they wait we'll get stronger. If they were smart they should have attacked long ago. He smiled. Thank you for giving us this time, Cyncians. Too bad the only reward you'll get will be bullets.

All along the frontline, similar positions were being built. If the Cyncians wanted to throw the legionaries out of Cyncia, they would better act fast...

The Alfegos Missiles had disabled most of the Cyncian Radar System. Also many home were without power and military installations reduced to rubble.

At 03:00 Thive Time, the Cyncian Army now attacked the Zaheran Forces again using a artillery barrage to move forward. 40 more Granter Light Tanks joined the 30 Tanks already in the attack, plus another 4000 more soldiers joined rasing the number to 6000. They moved forward towards the beach now only a mile away. Fog had moved in hindering visibility and depriving the allied forces of their air support. Port of Geisha:

The Federation transport fleet had just arrived and thousands of troops has landed in the Port as they pour out from the ships. M1A2 Abrams, Braveheart artilleries, and other vehicles began to ramp out of the transport ships and small carriers. A few helicopters fly over the army while they transport supplies from the ships to the ground. The army's arrival can be heard throughout the Port. On the ground, the men have started to set up tents for the operations to be watched out, and tents for the officers and soldiers. The one that cant be missed is the main tent, which is the center of every single missions and operations. It is the heart and HQ of the Federation's forces in this conflict.

HQ is aware of the allied Antigr being involved in this war and their forces will be landing on Kilo beach and face oppositions. They are also aware that they will be working with them on the Central Front. The decision has been made that the Federation army will head for the Central Front as soon as possible hoping that Antigr will be able to join them in the Front.

**A few hours Later**

The orders had been received, and 4 divisions of infantry (15,000 troops each) and armor headed for the city of Sertea on the Central Front. Their mission is to capture it and fortify it. They would only bombard it with artillery shells and missiles for some time when they arrive, then they would go on the offensive.

"Shit, they are serious about this", a man observed as the artillery barriage started again. Maximilian nodded. "True. It will be hard, but if we can hold until dawn we should be fine. Command told me that twenty-five thousand of our guys are en route and should arrive soon".
The artillery fire suddenly stopped. "Okay boys, get into your positions", the captain said. "Hold fire until my signal".
The others nodded. Maximilian opened the door to the bunker. "Seems clear. Get moving. I can already see people moving over there".
He hanged the rifle over his shoulder and walked over to a improvised flag pole his men had built and began to hoist the flag. Soon the red and blue banner was flying over the bunkers, a clear provocation to the Cyncians. "Come over here!", Maximilian shouted through a megaphone to the enemy soldiers. "Come over here and die!"

The Colstream Front had been reinforced by another 200 Tanks and 100,000 Soldiers to replace depleted units and damaged Tanks. The Colstream Forward Positions had been shelled by Model 89 122mm Self Propelled Howizers hastily brought forward during the last Colstream Offensive. 15 M1975 (2S4) 240mm Self Propelled Guns had been moved forward and had counter barraged destroying 4 and causing the others to withdraw.

Also the Colstream Air Force had raided Cyncia City with 60 B52Hs dropping Incendiary and High Explosive Bombs into the Eastern area of the city. The resulting firestorm caused by 20 mph winds burned down half of the Eastern Area which was mostly unpopulated by civilians and more by a large military complex.

Meanwhile, 3 Cyncian Divisions diverted from the Northern Front entered Sertea on the Central Front. The divisions were depleted but had 10,000 Soldiers and 35 T-64s. 12 ZTS Dana 152mm Self Propelled Guns entered behind the city and dug in. Immediately they started to shell. One success for the Cyncian Army was the recapture of the village of Hutrya on the Northern Front at 03:30. They then dug in their 77mm Howizers and started a barrage to cover the Armour and Infantry advancing.

The airships were now approximately 70km from the capital city, easy enough range for the mid-range weaponry. Batteries of Archer missiles had begun firing from the central gondola areas, creating strange patterns through the air as they shot towards the capital. Within an hour, with the engines at full speed, Taskforce Gatecrasher would be over the capital. Aboard the St.Kierraston, the other fire support ships, aboard every ship, the mood was tense. It had been for hours. Finally, the silence was broken. Two 15inch rounds whizzed from the Kierraston's A turret's two guns, a symbol. To release hell.

The Kierraston's, B, M, N, X, and Y turrets belched flame and smoke, described as one of the most awesome sights in the world. Six turrets, twelve huge shells, the sheet of sheer flame, the smoke. But this was no time for beauty.

Shells and missiles of all sizes shot from the various projectors, guns, and launchers from their mother ships, and to the beach and known enemy positions relayed by a sattelite. Exact positions were computerised and relayed to the ships, who decimated them.

The first landing craft began to accelerate, filled with marines armed to the teeth. Then another, and another, and another, landing craft and amphibious assault vehicles.

The landing craft and amhibious vehicles fired.
And at exactly the same time, eighty-four multirole attack fighters from three aircraft carriers flew overhead, slowing to subsonic speed to attack. They began to dive and fire missiles, and search for any enemy planes. Above and behind them was the 15th Airborne, which was to drop five miles behind the beaches and make a premature assault, aided by naval and air gun and missile fire. Two cruise missiles had just been launched at the beach, and were accelerating from a cruiser's VLS system. This was going to be big.

The first tanks had passed the small, white sticks the legionaries had placed out earlier. Ten meters to the minefield. "Mortars ready", he shouted. Now. Two meters left. "Fire", he roared. Grenades started falling over the Cyncians, smoke ones at first, to confuse them, soon to be followed by live rounds.

To Alfegos:

Your aeromarines are a too small force to hold the perimeter of the capital. Advise- do not land marines until Colstream Forces can reach you in force. Estimated Number of Cyncian Divisions in the Capital Area is over 50% of remaining Cyncian Forces- 2 Million Soldiers, 500,000 Militia Soldiers, 340 APCs and Over 500 Tanks. Colstream Forces currently 35 miles east. Major offensive is starting to make a break for Cyncia City. Aeromarines could be dropped to destroy a Bunker Complex on the South West Coast 20 Miles away from the Capital. It would be easy to penetrate if you used your airships to blast the defences then land your forces.
Note: When war is over, this country will not be divided as this one will be given back to the Cyncian People. By the way, how is your colony you got in the last war??

The Cyncian Army bunkers on Kilo Beach opened fire with PKM Machine Guns and even entrenched ZTS 152mm SPGs opened up firing 122mm shells in a attempt to sink the landing craft out to sea.

01:00 Thive Time, 20:00 Colstream Time 18:00 GMT:

600,000 Soldiers, 600 Tanks, 450 APCs backed by 400 Aircraft and 220 Self Propelled Guns attacked along the whole Southern Front in an attempt in capturing the Cyncian Capital, Cyncia City. In the extreme south, a Cyncian Army unit numbering just 200 Soldiers was caught refueling behind the line and was decimated by shells landing amonst their vehicles. An air raid on Cyncia City by the whole Thive Air Fleet B52Hs (150) dropped High Explosive onto the Main Roads to delay reinforcements from the relatively undamaged West part of Cyncia.

The Zaheran Mortars landed by the approaching Tanks blowing their tracks stopping them cold. The following Infantry was blown apart. But, medium mortars and baseplates suddenly appeared. They were clearly here to stay.

To Fson:

The forces you are sending could land in the west of the country and support the attack on the bunker systems in the southwest of Cyncia.

As for the colony...it's developing.)

The aero-dropships were coming now over the city: 6 smaller airships, with multiple HMGs, autocannons and howitzers mounted along their lengths to provide covering fire to the company of soldiers each carried.

1st Company, along with Batallion command, were in the foremost aerodropcraft. Rows of soldiers in urban camoflauged body armour and grey-painted faces, each with a parachute on their backs and a weapon in their hands, waited for the light to turn to amber, and then to green. A couple of them were shaking uncontrollably, newcomers who new that trial by fire was what whittled down all applicants to the aeromarines to the 5 regiments of hardened elite soldiers. Around them, battle-hardened men had painted up to 50 thin grey bars on their rifle barrels: each one a sign of an operation. Many of them wore dress uniforms emblazoned with military awards and battle awards, right up to the orange cross on a select few.

The 1st company was led by Major Thu'los, a dark man in his late 40's who would likely as not stay on past honourable discharge age in keeping the company in shape. They were called Darlan's Dragons, after his first name which all called him except when being repremanded. He was the only one who knew that this mission was near suicide, and was the one who had petitioned against command to listen to Colstream. He had seen too many famous last stands, and knew that those remembered normally didn't live to write about it. But, following orders from the Sky Marshall, he had finally submitted.

His company were to land directly on top of the government bunker complex, get in, capture as many high-ranking officials as possible and then leg it to the evac point where they would be given 5 minutes to get back aboard their dropcraft. He knew what the others were doing as well, since he was pretty much in charge of the outfit for the inept Major-general who had been stuck in charge and seemed only to stammer. 2 and 3 Company were disembarking at the main rail-station and the industrial area, where they had been told to sabotage as much as possible before getting back to their evac points. 4, 5 and 6 company were being dropped across the city to spring ambushes on the military there, before disappearing into the sewer network and ruins to hide and strike ambushes on the enemy, weakening them for the main allied surge.

Meanwhile, the AAS Gungho and the aerodropcraft would be providing air support in the form of destroying whatever threatened the aeromarines whilst they were on the ground, before Taskforce Sapphire came to attack any re-enforcements moving in on the icty or in the city. The other Taskforce had been tasked with destroying the bunker complex pointed out by Colstream, by method of Bunker-busting weaponry carried aboard two of that taskforce's aerocruisers for special cases such as this.

The light flashed to amber.
"Check your parachutes! Remember, we are going for HALO jumps, to minimise fire. You know where to try and land, and you know where the FRZ for each platoon is. Remember, we will not be waiting for stragglers!"
He looked behind him at one of the new recruits, who was visibly ill.

The light flashed to green as the rear ramp was dropped, and section by section the company began to leave the airship, staggered to help confuse the enemy who would doubtlessly be shooting below.

As Major Thu'los fell out into the cloud, he instantly felt the buffeting wind as the airship disappeared above him in the mist. His googles hadn't begun misting up yet, and he thanked the trick he had been taught of rubbing potatoes onto the lenses, stopping them from misting up ever. The cloud thinned away, and he was presented with a smoking city below, dimly lit by the early morning light. He kept estimating the distance, while keeping an eye out for the rest of A platoon. He saw one of the newbies, with his eyes closed, yank the parachute cord as he saw the tracer rounds from the soldiers on the ground whizzing towards him, and shot upwards. He was rewarded by the fire suddenly being concentrated on him. The dead body drifted downwards, as at only a few hundred metres the aeromarines began to open their grey parachutes, gliding downwards with their rifles firing at areas where coloured grenades had landed, thrown by his platoon which were the first to leave, marking enemy positions.

He hit the ground running, and pressed a small button on his pack. The parachute case and the parachute dropped off his back as he rolled into the cover of a bush. At least the drop had not been too far off, and he'd landed near the FRV in the park for 1st platoon. He quickly looked for enemies, before crawling across to a piece of cover on the edge of the park where they had landed, and whispered into his radio on the platoon wavelength.

"Sierra 1, take 12 o'clock from me to 4 o'clock. Sierra 2 and 3, where are you over."
"This is Sierra 2, we are approx 250 metres from Foxtrot Romeo Victor, and approaching from 9 o'clock."
"Sierra 3, we are approx 20 metres from Sierra 2."

After 5 minutes, they were all there.

"Cazam?"
"Sierra 1, we have 1 KIA and 1420 622."
"Sierra 2, we have no casualties and 1519 622"
"Sierra 3, we have 2 WIA and 1621 622."

"Sierra 3, how badly wounded are they?"
"Golf Sierra is unable to walk and Tango Kilo is shot in the chest"
"OK. Sierra 3, go to the Echo Romeo Victor and leave them there. Meet up in 10 minutes."

Somewhere near Sertea:

Explosions in the distance can be heard as artillery shells from the AS-90 Bravehearts and the M1A2 Abrams bombard the city. More explosions can be heard further away as the Colstream army bombard the other part of the city, they too have reached the city. The first 6 brigades (30,000 soldiers) will advance as soon as the bombardment finished while the rest of the brigades back them up. The soldiers were uneasy as they wait to charge into action. Some were nervous, but some were excited to see action. The sound of artillery and the explosions made matter more exciting. Each soldier are now fueled by adrenaline. Lieutenant Colonel Harry Banks was also uneasy for he commands the 77th battalion. As soon as he hears the order from the brigade colonel, he has to order the battalion to attack.

Finally, the artillery shells stopped firing, but the explosions in the city didn't...This is it, it was time to advance.

*static* "Commence the attack batallions 60th,59th, 2nd, and 77th." It was the brigade colonel.

"Alright! you heard him! Begin the operation!" Banks cried in the radio.

The radios were noisy as the soldiers of the batallions gave orders to each other and yelled. The Abrams advanced as well to support the infantry. There were 125 Abrams in the first brigades.

ok lets go the small section of 5 naval yeoman (naval infanty not marines) fell back into the country side. 10minutes later the sound of a cruise missile could be heard and the explosion and sound of rubble hitting the ground as they fell back to their camp in the woods.

OOC: Colstream, 152mm guns don't fire 122mm shells. And what happened to my super-massive naval bombardment that would have caught out anything visible from the air and my two carefully-aimed cruise missiles?

Anyway, time for a good post - It would've been better if i'd drafted and rehearsed it, but off the top of my head for now. *silence* Where the hell is my praise?

IC:

A 152mm shell landed right next to one of the assault amphibious vehicles - it must have come from a gun not seen by the sattelite. It sent up a huge plume of water next to the craft. Meanwhile, nearer to the beach, landing craft were coming under fire from PKM rounds.
Marines ducked as bullets pinged off the sides and the aft-mounted V60 heavy machine guns, or 20mm Oerlikon Cannon on later craft, opened fire.

A shell struck lucky on one of the craft, sending up a sheet of flame and several marines. It began to sink rapidly, injured men swimming desperately away.

Visual and IF cameras onboard the naval vessels located the enemy bunkers and emplacements and fire from guns and missiles was redirected.

While some of the landing craft had been hit, the majority hadn't and the first hit the beach, it's ramp slamming down into the shallow surf, making a splash.

Sergeant Nixon ran forward from the craft and threw himself into a shell-hole.

He aimed his PT-3 SMG [details for it, and other weapons described here, in armoury/storefront page - link in sig. These square brackets mean OOC, by the way] carefully and pulled the trigger, sending a seven-round burst to the nearest muzzle flash.

He started running again, and, through some stroke of luck, made it to the raise of land at the edge of the beach. He looked behind him. Soldiers hiding behind obstacles, in shell craters, firing and running forward. He saw a PFC from second platoon run forward. Gunfire, several little bursts of blood from his chest, and he fell. The sergeant grimaced and made a gesture. Ten of his platoon gathered round him - no, nine. A private just got a heavy machine gun round through the middle of his face.

He leaped, running, over the ditch side and charged forward, throwing himself into another shell-hole. He heard a burst of gunfire and a thunk of solid metal hitting his head. It was his helmet, which the bullet had knocked off. His lucky day. He swung his weapon round to the MG nest, and fired off his remaining 25 rounds at it. It fell silent.

He saw more muzzle flashes, enemies falling, his own men falling, blood, people yelling for their mothers or a medic - it reminded him of that thing in a foreign history that they called D-Day or something. He'd watched a film about it. But, the enemy losses were greater today, the naval bombardment bigger and more accurate, which had knocked out most of the enemy positions. Losses would be great, but far, far lesser than they would have been sixty years ago. But no time to think. Time only to fight.

He yanked the spent mag out of his PT-3 and slammed another in from his ammunition pouch.
He pulled back the charging handle and ran forward again, letting rip with his gun.

-----

He hit the ground hard. Groaning slightly, he pulled himself up and disconnected his parachute harness. On his shirt was the badge of the 15th Airborne, on his helmet was a chevron stripe, the Antigran yellowy-creamy-beige star on a blue background, and underneath a curved stripe

[indicates a PFC - some visual aid (http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc40/NS_Antigr/ArmyRanksEnlisted.jpg), it's a sample of a big pic I made showing Antigran rank insignia]

, and in his hands a Sabre assault rifle. Men were coming down around him. Surely the enemy had seen him - it was dawn, the sun was just beginning to shine, the airborne assault was massed, rather than discreet. But that didn't matter. He got up into a crouch position and cocked his rifle.

"We've got more of them appearing, captain", a soldier said, pointing to the newly arrived Cyncian forces. "Mortars, it seems".
"Didn't learn their lesson, did they? Okay, I want smoke grenades on them to disturb them and complicate their firing. Are they in range of the machine guns?"
"Negative, sir", another soldier said. "Still too far away".
"Shit. Well, shoot with the mortars for now. Engineer, is the minefield still intact?"
"Yes, sir. The enemy has shown no sign of demining. Seems a bit uncertain, he does".
"Let's hope so", Maximilian answered. "If we're lucky he will wait until our reinforcements arrive. I wouldn't bet on it, though. How is the others doing? Is the line of defence still intact?"
"Yes, sir. No heavy enemy movements in their areas. Seems like we'll have to bear the brunt of the fighting".
"How nice", Maximilian observed dryly. "I just love being the the centre of attention". He took a drink from his canteen. "Why aren't they attacking? I'm growing tired of just sitting here and looking at them".
"Maybe they're awaiting reinforcements", the engineer suggested. Maximilian shook his head.
"Why would they? They already outnumber us greatly, and every hour they wait we're growing stronger. They have to know that. So why don't they just storm this hill?"
"I have no idea, sir. I wouldn't complain though. This is a rather comfortable way to wage war".
"Guess you're right", the captain answered. He smiled. "You know what? I got a bottle of cognac in my backpack. Shall we share?"

After 2 days of heavy fighting in the Southern Front, the Colstream Army had arrived to within a mile of Cyncia City. Artilery began a bombardment of the City. The first units began to link up with the Alfegos Aeromarines that had been dropped the night before. The time was 8 am. The first Colstream MS2 Panthers began to push through the Eastern Outskirts of Cyncia City which had been destroyed by the Missile Strike 3 days previously

To Alfegos:

When you have the High Ranking Officials, could your Aeromarines take them to Thive City to stand trial for Terrorist Crimes and War Crimes against the Cyncian People.

The APCs started to rain shells onto the Zaheran Beach. Infantry poured forward unleashing murderous fire.

The Cyncian Army forces on the Antigr beachead began to fall back as more Antigran Forces can ashore. Short on ammuntion and morale they fell back. Also the news of the Southern Fronts collapse meant that the line had to be shortened. 3000 Cyncians Lay dead around their positions. It was a costly stand which had reduced the division defending it to only 120 soldiers.

OOC: Sertea has around 200,000 Soldiers plus 40 Tanks defending it.

The Cyncians holding Sertea started to panic. The Southern road had been cut by the Colstream advance to the south and their heavy eqipment lay scattered in ruins around the city.

The bunkers erupted in flame as the cruise missile struck. 200 Cyncian Soldiers and Technicians were killed instantly. A huge fireball lit up the woods.

Maximilian smiled as he saw the Cyncian soldiers running against him. At last. This was what he lived for. "Mortars, fire at will!", he shouted. "Machine gunners, wait until my signal!" Shells started falling among the Cyncians. Good, he thought. That will give them something to think about. Suddenly a shell exploded nearby. Maximilian was thrown off his feet, but he rised again and laughted. "Is that all you've got?", he roared over the gunfire and explosions. "Come to me, you sons of goats! Come to me and die!"
More explosions were heard as the Cyncians entered the minefield. Maximilian laughed again. Excellent. They were going into the trap. Further down the line Zaheranian tanks and soldiers were doing a pincer movement, encircling the Cyncian forces attacking Position 7047. Caught between the hammer and the anvil, the Cyncians would be mercilessy slaughtered.
"Machine guns!", he shouted as the soldiers came into range. "Give those bastards Hell!" Six machine guns began to cross-fire at the Cyncians, spitting lead and death.

Captain Jacob Wiender smiled as he saw the Cyncians turn and run from Maximilians forces. He and his company of Jaegerkommandos had just arrived and were crawling through the grass against the Cyncians. Their task was to hold the Cyncians in place until the heavier units arrived. Therefore they were carrying a pair of light machine guns and some anti-tank equipment, in case the APCs beame interested in them. He looked around him. Sixty soldiers, all veterans and chosen for their bravery and experience, were loading their assault rifles and looking through their other equipment. Some snipers were aiming in on Cyncian officers to sow further confusion in the enemy ranks. Fifty meters left now. The Cyncians were running straight against them. He unsafed the rifle and looked at his men. They were ready. "Fire!", he shouted, firing into the fleeing Cyncians.

IC:

The marines, now supported by tanks, were streaming forward from the beaches. Naval artillery was being 'walked' forward to keep pace with the retreating Cyncians, to wipe out every last man.
Even at this stage, the first elements of a beachead were already been set up. The first army landings to back up the marines were underway.

1st Company were crawling through the ruins near to the government headquarters, keeping as quiet as possible. The enemy bunker was only a few tens of metres away, and the guards around needed to be surprised for them to succeed.

2nd platoon were approaching from the north, and had at their disposal a crew-mounted autocannon in addition to 2 Minimi MGs. This was set up facing the main entrance, where they hoped to enter. 1st platoon were to be the main assaulting force, and as a result a majority of them were armed with equipment for this operation, as well as a surfuit of shotguns. 3rd platoon platoon were to the south-west, to provide more fire at the building and to cause confusion. They had been allowed the luxury of two grenade launchers, as well as a few air-dropped crates of tear gas projectiles to aid in the taking of the structure.

The attack started suddenly and proceeded very rapidly. From above, the fire of at least 5 autocannons ripped apart the road and pavements nearby, shredding anyone standing in the open. At the same time, the other weapons carried by the Company began to open up on the building from three sides, windows shattering as bullets smashed through them to hit enemies on the other side. The autocannon fire from above moved to the building itself, punching through the feeble roof to shred offices and people inside.

Into this chaos flew multiple smoke bombs, that rapidly filled the area with acrid white smoke. Through this mist ran 1st platoon, headed by Thu'los himself. His shotgun roared, splashing the wall behind an unfortunate enemy guard with pricks of blood, while from behind him the other members of his section let rip with shotguns, assault rifles and even a pair of machinepistols. Thu'los made a mental note to enquire as to their origin with the private who had fired them, before taking out another enemy guard who had just opened up.

Inside the building, it was chaos. Smashed walls and scattered furniture hid cowering civilians and soldiers, with the distant pounding of the autocannon shells shaking the entire building. Thu'los looked quickly at the palmtop he had decided to bring, against better judgement. It showed a map of this floor, and a pair of arrows marking his location and the location of the bunker steps. He ducked into a storage cupboard as a burst of rounds took out an armed man at the end of the corridor, before yelling out orders into his radio.

"Sierra 2, take the next left corridor and clear that out. Sierra 3, block off the stairwell with a couple of bangers, before coming back round. The rest of Sierra 1, follow my lead."

He ran down the corridor with the rest of his squad in pursuit, turned into another corridor and hit the floor as a nervous-looking man fired off an assault rifle at them. A pistol cracked, and the man collapsed with frothy red blood pouring from a chest wound. They proceeded down, checking each room for enemies, till the came to the still-living man, wheezing from his unpunctured lung. Thu'los took one glance, knowing at once that the man was a goner. No medic could save him now.

"If you can tell me about the bunker, I'll make your passing much easier."
"Thankyou. It's down two sets of steps to a concrete bulkhead. There's a guardhouse just before the entrance, and you can find a map on the wall in the guardhouse."
"You've been very helpful. Goodbye mate."

He drew his pistol and fired a single shot in the centre of the man's forehead, killing him instantly.

"You heard what he said: lets get moving!"

The 8 men rushed down the steps, just as the ceiling behind them collapsed. The barrage was flattening the building, and they would only have so long till the whole lot came down. At the base of the steps, they quickly assesed the rather simple map of the bunker, before getting to work on the bulkhead. For this, one of the members of the section had brought a set of shaped demolition charges. After a minute of wiring it up, followed by checks on the door again, they fell back to the guardhouse for the door destruction. There was a roar, followed by a thick cloud of dust. They ran through it, and clambered through the conical hole in the bulkhead.

2nd Company were fortifying the captured rail-station as the Colstream army moved in. The company leader, Captain Tra'lan, leapt from his position behind a ticket barrier to greet the head of the armour.

"You took your time! Give us a ride, and take us to the airport. We've got an airship to catch."

_____________________________________________

3rd Company were lying in wait around the airfield, having fortified the area around the main runway zone so that the aero-dropcraft could land. Mortars, machineguns and AT-87s were the order of the day, dropped form the skys above to replace their compliment of demolition charges that had been so useful in taking out the remaining military-orientated factories, now piles of detritus.

____________________________________________

The head of 5th Company, Captain Yuri, was wondering where the rest of the hit-and-run forces had gone. He had managed to take out a substantial number of soldiers in the area, with the company rigging explosive mines in the sewers below the roads and setting them off as they went over, as well as firing off hte occasional volley at anyone on the surface.

OOC: Fson, you are to sweep the bunker and capture any vital intelligence for the Allied Forces.

The Cyncian Army had collapsed. The whole front had crumbled in front of the Combined Onslaught. Intelligence suggested that morale was low. Also it estimated that the war wuld last only 5 more days.

In the bunker, loud shouts intermingled with confused bursts of gunfire. People were cowering away from the soldiers, or taking potshots at them with pistols.

"Non-lethal! Non-lethal!"

Thu'los yelled above the din as three rounds smacked into his back, causing him to gasp in pain. That had really hurt, and if it was his unlucky day he would have broken a rib or two.
As the soldiers finished subduing resistance, Thu'los pulled a small pens from his webbing and jabbed it into his arm, feeling the pain quickly subside away. He'd have to be carful not to get too addicted to the Morphine, since he noticed that every time it took longer for the pain to go.

The 19 government officials were lined up against the wall at the back of one of the rooms, with the wounded laid down on the floor nest to them. 8 military guards had been found there, and only one was dead. The rest were suffering from leg or arm injuries, and were lying down in their pain. After the medic quickly patched them up, there was a clatter down the steps as Section 2 entered to help escort the government officials out.

"We're clear up on the ground floor and plaza, but Gungho says we've got incoming enemy."
"We're not gonna be taking the surface road then. Did we get the map of the sewers?"
"Yes sir."

__________________________________________

The gunfire in the square suddenly ceased, leaving only the sound of burning from the shattered governmental building. A few minutes before the startled re-enforcements broke into an empty square and building, there was a clatter as two manhole covers were dropped back into place.

Below, in the dark dank passages, a constellation of red torch-lights flowed towards the east, and the airport. Using hushed whispers and silent radio commands, they slowly navigated their way through.

____________________________________________

The airport was suddenly the focus of enemy fire. As 3rd Company began firing furiously with all weapons at an enemy force that now surrounded them on three sides, the AAS Gungho began to slower lower itself from the clouds that had been hiding it.

Fire quickly switched to that, with tracer rounds flashing through the air to cut through the airship's unarmoured skin. Not that they were any threat though: the rounds were all hitting on the underside and were not causing any major leaks of a gas that wanted to escape through holes in the top of the envelope. The explosive rounds only took out single cells, with tens of thousands to take out to make a substantial difference.
Still, the crew of the Gungho were not that happy in accepting enemy fire, and quickly responded. Machineguns ripped enemy infantry to shreds, while crew members with AAT-87 missile launchers locked onto enemy vehicles.

And with no sign of its cargo, the Gungho was not going to hang around long to get shot at.

"Get us there now!"

The commander of 2nd Company was in hysterics as he saw the enemy open fire on the airship. He did not want to see what would happen if chance managed to set off 10 000 m^3 of hydrogen. Losing most of the capital was not top of his agenda.

Sertea:

Lieutenant Brian Parker is one of the most well-known platoon leaders of C Company of the 77th battalion. They have just received intel that the Cynian-controlled city has about 200,000 troops and 40 tanks defending it, and they know that they were outnumbered greatly. Parker just hopes that the artillery bombardment was enough to even out the sides....but he knows that they will have tough time taking the city without the any ally support. They have just entered the streets and advance with full caution. Parker was looking around when a soldier from another platoon just dropped on the ground.

"Sniper!" one soldier yelled.
"Take cover!" shouted Parker, "Johnson! Can you locate the sniper?"
"I think I saw a flash over there." He pointed to a building window.
"Cleveland...don't miss." said Parker to one of his man, "Supressing fire!"
The platoon began shooting at window. "Now!" Parker yelled.
Cleveland aimed his sniper carefully and pulled the triggered.

At the same time, explosions began to increased again in the distance. Gunfires also began to increase. A shell from one of the artillery tanks hit one of the buildings; half of it just collapsed.

"Shit!"

A loud klaxon began to wail, louder than any air-raid siren still going. A tank had just fired an ATGM and managed to get a direct hit on the engine unit. Two jets of flame shot out of the side, the deep blue colour showing that it was Hydrogen burning. The engines on the right-hand side began to splutter, before dying. In the inferno that was now spreading through the engine gondola, three figures could be seen with hand extinguishers, trying to put out the fire. There was an explosion as the coolant reservoir ignited, followed by a shower of molten sodium.

_________________________________________

"We're late! Lets go go go!"

Thu'los punched upwards and knocked the manhole cover clean off. He scrambled up, and found himself in the middle of a battleground. He was over in the terminal area, and had 300m of open ground to cover before he got the airship, and another 80m to get inside. Once they were all out, they began to run across, a platoon at a time, zig-zagging to avoid enemy fire.
A mortar shell blew up a huge cloud of dust as Thu'los ran ahead, with the hostages just behind him doing the same.

"Requesting just a little bit of covering fire, over."

As they reached halfway across, one of the hostages collapsed, a bullet in their leg. Thu'los picked him up, and slung him across his shoulder as he continued to run.
The covering fire he had asked for came rapidly, and with the overkill factor typical of the Alfegos Aerofleet. There was the sound of screams, before the entire perimeter of the airfield exploded into a line of fire, as cluster bombs blew any enemy units within 100m of the airfield into smitereens. The lull in the enemy fire gave Thu'los the chance to put on a final burst of speed and run up the ramp into the airship. He bent over and wheezed as the next platoon thudded up the ramp, the hostages hustled by them into a corner, where they were handcuffed together in a chain.

"Shall be get going now? I noticed you had a wee bit of engine troubles."
"Yes, only down to your being late."

The First Officer of the ship walked off back towards the bridge of the airship. As he disappeared up a ladder, the ramp slammed shut and locked, before the pipes on the ceiling began hissing.

"This is your Captain speaking. We have experienced minor technical problems, mainly the engines being shot to pieces, thanks to your tardiness. As a result, we kindly ask for you to hold onto something solid attached to the airship, as we will be performing an emergancy takeoff."

As he finished, the airship jolted upwards, throwing the men onto the floor. A great feeling of weight fell upon them as the airship accelerated upwards into the sky, rapidly disappearing into the clouds.

________________________________________

Up in the sky, waiting to meet them, was an aerotender. A large airship with facilities aboard to repair most other airships in mid-flight, to save them putting down for damage.

"This is the AAS Gungho. We have adjusted sails to brake, and have prepared for docking. Is there anything more, over?"
"AAS Carabiner, we are ready to take you on. Brace for impact."

The aerotender fired off three harpoon guns on the side, each one rocket assisted for maximal accuracy. They hit the airship right on the external gantries running along its left side, and began dragging themselve together. Once close enough, boarding ramps fell down onto the side of the airship, and 16 engineering personnel ran on, dragging crates of equipment and spare parts.

Inside the engine gondola, the fire was out now, the hydrogen pipes shut off manually further up. The engineers there were busy cleaning up any dangerous material, dragging out pieces of solid sodium from the coolant reservoir and chucking them overboard, watching them ignite in the moit inside of the cloud.
The coolant system had been destroyed, and the engines on the right hand side had been blown clean off. It was only comforting to find that nothing else was damaged, thanks to the thick ceramic armour that encased the engine unit, blackened as it was the the flames.

"We estimate 6 hours until engines are back online at minimal capacity, and at least 8 hours until the whole lot is fully functional. Even then, we doubt that you will be able to stand a trip back to mainland Alfegos."

"Don't worry. If you can tow us to Ge'fegos, we can deliver off our cargo there."

______________________________________

At the airfield, the battle still raged, with enemy re-enforcements clambering over the piles of ruined vehicles and dead bodies from the bombardment. It was clear that they were pulling in resources from all over the city, and without support from the Colstream army that should be coming in soon, they would either have to let them retake the airport or they would die stopping them.

They are military trained aswell, meaning they will be able to deal with anything thrown at them. Whilst we are not entering this confict with military power, we Rennidanians believe in keeping our fellow human beings alive, as life is a gift from Nature herself.

The monks can be distinguished by the dark green and golden garbs they wear, aswell as the short-spears on their belts. All monks will be armed with short-spears and sidearms in case of emergancy.

The large shape of the cruiser HMS Pride led the second convoy of transport ships headed for Cyncia. General Michael Vollmer was asleep in his cabin when a light knock on the door woke him up. "I'm sorry to disturb sir", a voice said, "but we have recieved some kind of weird message from some place called the Holy Empire of Rennidan".
"Never heard about", Vollmer said while getting dressed. "Most be some former isolationist country that want to flex their muscles. Bastards".
He opened the door. "Where is the message?"
The man handed him a print-out. Vollmer read through it thrice and scornful smile spread over his face. "Monks, eh? Hah! Not in my area, that is for sure. I don't want any damned spies running around helping the enemy". He turned to the adjutant. "Get in contact with colonel Ronnel and tell him to arrest anyone wearing dark green and golden garbs in his area as a spy". He smiled nastily. "Then tell him to go looking for a barge carrying garbage or something. That will be a suitable transport for the monks on their way home".
The man bowed. "At your orders, sir". Vollmer nodded and turned away, walking to the communications central, where he transmitted a reply to the Rennidans.

To: Prince Micah Ronda of the Holy Empire of Rennidan
From: General Michael Vollmer, Field Marshal of Strike Force Cyncia, Commander of the Zaheranian forces in the Cyncian Theatre

Sir,

I regret to inform you that we will not accept any Rennidan monks in the areas controlled by the Holy Empire of Zaheran. We are unfortunately enough occupied with waging war, and our soldiers do not have time to baby-sit non-combat personnel helping the enemy to recover. Our own medical staff are helping both our own soldiers and any civilians still left and are doing it very good. Any monks encountered will be held in custody until they can be returned to Rennidan. We understand the good intentions behind your decision and at any other time we would be glad to welcome your citizens, but at the moment the situation is not suitable for non-combat personnel. Come back in one or two months and you will be warmly welcomed.

In the Empire's service,

Michael Vollmer
General of the Imperial Army
Commander of Strike Force Cyncia

OOC: Only five more days of war? Awwwww. (Prompt for surprise attack of some sort to lengthen war)

IC:

3rd Marine Armoured Division, the positions of the initial Antigran airborne landings

Lieutenant-Colonel Wilkes opened the hatch of his MT-85D and looked at the Airborne Colonel standing beside the tank.

"Situation?"

"The enemy seems to have pulled back from the beach and indeed from here, Jeff. My guess is low ammo, low morale, the knowledge that their line is nonexistent"

"What you're saying is, it's clear?"

"Precisely"

"Thanks, Kevin. We'll be pushing on now"

Wilkes banged on the turret.

"Go, driver"

The tracks began to squeak as the tank accelerated, followed by a Kraker IIM, and another MT-85D.

They were among the lead tanks the division, which, joined by another marine armoured and two regular divisions, one marine and one army, would be leading the inland pentration, mainly in one large column, which would first clear ahead, then the territory gained by the column would quickly be exploited sideways to gain wide area posession.

"What's this?"

That was the surprised voice of General Sandrez, onboard one of the Aircraft Carriers he was using as a command post for himself.

"Well, send a reply. Nice gesture, but no thanks"

ANTIGRAN MILITARY TRANSMISSION
The United Federal Republic of Antigr

To: Holy Empire of Rennidan
From: General Sandrez, Antigran Supreme Command

While your gesture is a nice one and I'm sure peacefully-minded, we will not allow it in our area.
We have no time for non-combatr personnel running around the battlefield, getting shot by a stray bullet, and us getting the blame.
Nor do we have time for idiots who can freely go from our lines to theirs passing on information so as to aid the enemy with both intelligence and medical support.
Any of your monks in our area will be detained immediately and held as prisoners of war, and if proper proof is shown, shot as spies.

OOC:

Really, enemy opposition now? Large Antigran column, supported almost all the way inland by SLBMs and ICBMs, and for about 50 to 100 miles in by lighter stuff too, plus helicopter support and naval aviation.

From: Prince Micah Ronda of the Holy Empire of Rennidan

Generals, I understand your concerns, but rest assured, my monks won't need babysitting. Surely you can respect the fact that all we want to do is minimize any unnecessery injuries. If we can compromise and say the monks will only help injured civillians, surely we will be freeing you more of your own medics, who in turn can aid more of your own troops. It would then mean you would have more cannon-fodder to through at the enemy.

Peace be at you.

Nodding slightly, Prince Ronda passed the letter to his runner, who shot out of the room and down into the transmissions room.

Alfegos, while it does support your humanitarian aims in aiding those who are suffering, will warn you that to do so in Cynacia City, the capital of Cynacia, will not guarantee your safety. The aeromarines deployed in the city, alongside the airships patrolling above, have been ordered to shoot all enemy on sight. We do not want to be responsible for the death of your monks in the city, so would recommend that you stay away until combat operations have ceased.

Yours faithfully,

The two conjoined airships drifted though the skies towards Ge'fegos, and Colstream itself. Aboard the AAS Gungho, the aeromarines were celebrating the mission success with a few kegs of beer stashed amongst the ammunition and weaponry. Thu'los shouted for quiet, before raising his flagon.

"To lost comrades! May they have gone to a place better than here!"

The soldiers in unison raised their flagons, before the chatter resumed. This operation hadn't been as costly as some, yet still they had had casualties.
11 men wouldn't be able to join in the festivities, most of them the more recently joined members of the force. Their bodies had not been recovered, due to the haste of the mission. But once the war was ended, they would be taken home as heroes for their country, and buried amongst the other former members of the aeromarines.

On the ground, the rumour was that the war was gonna end very soon: Cynacian high command had been captured, the city was soon to be theirs, and the allies they had in Antigr and Zaheran would be marching here quite soon.

This morale boost did not go unnoticed amongst the 360 troops spread across the city, all making their way slowly towards the airfield in small groups, destroying enemy units in surprise ambushes along the way, and sowing the seeds of confusion amongst an already wron-down force.

Colstream Forces had the City surrounded. Like Berlin 63 years previously, the town was now covered by a wall of steel. Although, 1.5 Million Cyncian Army Soldiers and over 300 Armoured Vehicles were in the city, fighting suicidally and limiting gains to just 1 mile of the 8 mile squared capital. The Colstream Army held most of the east part of Cyncia City along with Alfegos Aeromarines. However, the Northern and Central Fronts, which had 3 Million Cyncian Army units, was holding. Sertea had not yet fallen but Antigran Columns had started to move from Kilo Beach.

The Cyncian Army opposite the Antigrans counterattacked with 500,000 Soldiers and 170 T-72s and 150 Granter Light Tanks. Also 120 77mm Howizers opened up onto the attacking MT-85 Maruders to slow them down.
(Is this alright Antigr??)

In Sertea, the remaining forces pulled back to the western areas. PKMs were set up with T-62s in support. The 77mms had pulled back a mile west to give heavy fire support.

Your Highness, your forces are forbidden to enter the Thive-Cyncia Territorial Waters. We have too many nations operating in Cyncia already and we don't want to add any more into the area. The areas behind the fighting already have suffient personnel to start caring for the injured and misplaced plus the materials to rebuild and get the basic needs back to the Cyncian People. Thanks for your offer but it is a major logistical problem the Allied Forces could do without now. The Country has too many foreign forces per square mile to cope with more foreign forces. We also have a naval blockade on the Northern, Western and Southern Coasts which would stop any Ships not carrying flags of the nations already in Cyncia. Sorry for the inconvience but the situation is too difficult. Plus also you did not ask when you wanted to enter the warzone. I am afraid to say your forces will be denied entry and any of your forces that enter Cyncia from now on will be forced to leave.

The battle for the beach was over. 500 soldiers had fallen in the beach landing and the following battles, but still it was a victory, though a bitter one. The tired survivors, having fought for two days and two nights, buried the dead while Vollmer's fresh troops began marching against Cyncia City. In the traditional Zaheranian manner the bodies were buried with their heads to the west and the sunrise, an old pagan tradition that even the Christians practised without much thought.

The most part of the Cyncian defences seemed to have collapsed, so the 25,000 soldiers leading the spearhead to Cyncia City didn't expect to meet much resistance. More soldiers were on the way, and the enemy's moral seemed to have hit an all-time low. The ending on the war, they all agreed, was not far away.

Flotilla Commander Ryan gazed through the clearing clouds at the destroyed city smoking below. Every now and then, an airship in Taskforce Sapphire would fire a volley of missiles at targets in the city, targeting any enemy vehicles. To his left, he gazed at a large electronic map of the city, showing unit positions and strategic locations across the city.

There was an explosion below as a barrage demolished a group of apartment blocks, causing them to collapse in a shower of dust and concrete. However, the problem that they had now was that the enemy forces in the city (OOC: Are you really sure about the number?) were still not giving up, regardless of the fact that they were slowly but surely being crushed in the vice of the allied forces. He lifted the laserpen, and highlighted the densest concentration of enemy forces in the city, nearing the border between allied and Cynacian land. He typed in a few orders, before sending it to the rest of the Taskforce.

A few seconds later, the firing started. Smoke once again obscured the airships as hundreds of missiles began to pour out of the airships, small tongues of flame showing their passage towards the ground below. After a short delay, the city began to rip itself to pieces as artillery missiles, designed only for sheer mass effect, detonated in a line across the city.

The airship then deployed a rather large cylinder from the rear, that deployed a parachute before floating down. He had been assured that civilian casualties would be minimal, since most off the civilians were actually militiamen, and had been allowed to use WMeDs (Weapons of Mediocre Destruction): namely, what had been called by the press "The Father of All Bombs". It was basically a thermobaric weapon, with a yield of 44 tonnes of TNT, able to flatten everything within 250m. As one general had put it:
"We expect all human targets within 100m of the hypocentre to evaporate in the heat, and those further out to experience full body concussion damage. In short, it's a small nuclear weapon."

After falling to its alloted altitude, it detonated, a massive shockwave throwing up debris and smoke, leaving a massive area obscured by dust and smoke.

"Well, here's a prayer to the poor sods on the receiving end of that!"

"They got PKMs set up here..here and here," said Johnson while pointing at a map, "we on the other hand, got this area secure...we have to take this area for the other company to move in. It seems that the Cynians have moved back towards the western parts of the city as well"

"I see" said Lt. Parker. Machine guns were firing at them. His platoon is pinned down by Cynian PKMs, "Damn it! I need those PKMs out." They need to take out that position for the line to continue moving forward. No armor is present, but Parker got a plan. He took two guys with him and moved around a building to get a better angle on one of the PKMs....It was perfect, the gunner never saw them move. He saw a good spot for his sniper. Then he radioed Cleveland, the sniper, to move to the spot.

"Ready?" he said to the team, "Now."

An RPG launched from Parker's position and hit the first PKM. The gunner was engulfed by a quick flash of flame and the nest was left destroyed. The remaining two PKMs began firing again, but a few seconds later one had stopped firing. "Looks like Cleveland got his target..." Parker thought. The last gun continued to fire. The rest of the team returned fire to get its attention, while Parker ordered the other member of his team launch a grenade on that position. An explosion occurred when a grenade launcher hit its target. The guns were finally silenced.

"I want 3 nests on those 3 spots now!." yelled Parker.

The rest of the battalions continue to move the line towards the west of the city, but very slowly. RAH-66's were called in for infantry support, while the Abrams moved slowly with the ground troops. The soldiers were pinned down by mortars and machine guns, however, they have managed to keep the line strong. The resistance is fierce and well armed. The Federation army continues to hold the lines and push the Cynian army away from the city.

OOC: I am using a number around the number of troops the Germans used against the Russians in the Battle Of Berlin which was over 1 million.

The explosion knocked down a fortified block of flats crushing a 77mm Howizer dug into the basement. It killed 200 soldiers outright and injured 450 more. This enabled a group of 32 MS2 Panthers make a 500 metre dash before being struck by anti-tank shells. The shells simply bounced of the Chobham/Steel Armour and rebounding back towards the people who fired it which was in a building. The shells destroyed the ground floor causing a total structure collapse of the building. A Colstream F-16 made a low pass and dropped 2 1000lb bombs on the building next to it. As the bombs hit the building, 50 Soldiers made a run for the ruins and started to use them as a position. Mortars were brung up and they started to mortar a building that was originally the office of a nearby factory which laid in ruins a 100 metres to the North. The Colstream Army had made a half mile gain in 2 hours. The time was around 3 am.

The Cyncian Army in Sertea was packing up and moving to new defensive positions. Only now a rear guard of 180 Soldiers and 12 T-72s stayed behind to gain time that the Cyncians didn't have. Divisions that had originally been meant for Sertea had now been withdrawn to help stop the Antigran Army advancing in the North.

Megalithon HQ, Port of Geisha:

Lieutenant General Marcus Spears looked at the projected screen which contain a whole map of Cyncia and a map of Sertea next to it. The Sertea map had arrows on it representing the Federations troop movement. He was satisfied on what he sees. The Cyncian armies on Kilo beach had abandoned the area, and the capital is being taken by allied armies.

"Sir, you might wanna look at this." A message was handed to him.

After a few seconds, he smiled. He had just read a report saying that the opposing army in Sertea had decreased significantly. He knew that they were being forced to abandon the city because what is happening in their capital. He looked back up to the maps...The Sertea map was updated and most of it is green, the area where his army now controls.

Sertea:

Parker's platoon was deep in the city. In fact, the whole division is deep in the city. They have faced tough resistance before, now the resistance is almost nonexistent. Parker had just received message that the Cynian army in the city had left, well at least most of them. The platoon was walking down a street. They passed by dead bodies and some destroyed tanks. They even saw civilians in the area. RAH-66's passed over their heads as they try to disable the remaining enemy tanks. The sight was spoiled when gun fires began again.

"What is it?" Parker asked one of his men.
"I think the other platoons had just detected resistance sir."

They were not far from the gun fight. When they arrived at the scene, their fellow soldiers were running from cover to cover and firing back. Parker stopped one of them, "What's the situation?"

"Cynians...about 100 of them..I don't know maybe more. They also have some armor...T-72s.." The soldier continued to run to a cover.

Bullets whizzed by as Parker tried to take a closer look, "Alright men! Let's move!"
The platoon joined the fire fight. Machine guns can be heard from the distance. Shells from the enemy T-72s landed near them. As Rah-66's passed over their heads, some of the enemy shells ceased. One soldier who was running for cover got hit in the leg from a machine gun fire...he was in the open as he cried for the medic. Then momentarily he got hit on the head and his cries stopped. Some of the soldiers were pinned down and taking cover behind a store. Parker decided to fire at the enemy who was pinning them down. As he fired for support, he heard a big explosion...then another one. "Damn, must be our air support who's doing that.." he thought. He was right, missiles from the RAH-66's was being fired at the T-72's. Parker looked how his team was doing. Cleveland was in one undetectable spot and fired shot after shot. Johnson had a rocket launcher and fired at one of the enemy PKM nests. The rest of his team are shooting on whatever moves on the enemy side. As the battle goes on, resistance became weaker and the other areas of the city were being taken by the Federation army. Some of the soldiers were already on top of small buildings with snipers and machine guns. At this point, victory over the city is imminent.

OOC: Yeah. 500000 vs under 200000 may be a bit unfair, but so many enemies gathered in one place will be crushed easily. Also, your tank to infantry ratio is waaaaay to low. Consider that British XXX Corps of WWII was far less than my force but had 20000 vehicles, and more than 300 were tanks. This is modern times, and there would be more vehicles anyway.

77mm howitzers? Please consider that in WWI average artillery calibre was higher - and even 18th World countries wouldn't keep WWI guns around. Also, shells would not deflect right back at where they came from, which is scientifically and mechanically impossible considering that sloped frontal armour is generally at maximum 75 degrees.

The Antigran Front, 10 Miles Inland

A shell landed next to a tent. Several more began to land. Then it began to rain solid high explosive.
The ecampment, containing Able, Bravo, and Charlie companies, 4th Battalion, 852nd Infantry Regiment of the 7th Marine Armoured, was immediately in chaos. men were either dying or running for vehicles with their own and others' blood on their tunics.

All over the front, particularly in the centre, this was happening.
The men that could see, from the armoured safety of their well-protected vehicles, could make out the shape of tanks and infantry advancing. Not discreet, but surely destructive.

4th Independent Artillery Regiment, attached to 11th Marine Division

The forward lines of this artillery support camp were well-manned and ready. This was now being called upon.
A Sergeant-Major jogged between the guns of the particular battery he was visiting at the time - the 352nd Field Artillery Battalion, a full compliment of 600 strong, equipped with towed 155 and 203mm howitzers.

The gun crews had assembled to the blare of the general alarm, and had loaded the first shells into the breeches. The Sergeant-Major yelled at the top of his voice.

"All guns, COMMENCE FIRING"

The first shells were discharged, heading towards anywhere forward of Antigran lines.

Everywhere, artillery was giving lethal fire support, which would hopefully help.

A whining sound was heard, and then a boom. Three. That was three cruise missiles breaking the sound barrier, all from a destroyer, soaring skyward to crash downwards again. Just a destroyer.
The crew was obviously awake and listening to the radio, for it was not a few minutes before the decks were cleared and missiles launched.

There were to be a lot more booms that day, as hundreds of missiles were launched from submarines, destroyers, cruisers, and battlecruisers.

The ships were also giving stunningly rapid gunfire support, to try and beat back the enemy. Within 10 minutes, several dozen aircraft, hurriedly armed with AGMs (Air-to-Ground-Missile) were taking off from aircraft carrier decks.

Thank goodness for emergency contingency plans.

Cyncia's army is very poorly equiped. They had not fought a war since the 19th Century against a then rising Contitutional Monarchy Of Thive. That Government collapsed during the Civil War against the Communist Rebels which me and you took part in. Then Thive went into problems due to the fact that the person who created Thive then had his account deleted. Then i rescued it during that humanitarian roleplay. Then we had the invasion from the terrorists. Now we are up to this point. Cyncia however through that period had not remodernised its army past the point of getting Self Propelled Artillery for some divisions. The only improvement was the terrorist faction in the country which is currently fighting in Cyncia City.

21:00 Local Time-Cyncia City

The First Artillery Gun started to shell the partially destroyed Parliament Building. It was the beginning of the end. The Colstream Army had smashed the divisions facing it using small squads to utilise backalleys and come behind the buildings housing the pillboxes. Using Infared Strobes, they pinpointed targets for AS-3 Python Attack Helicopters to strafe the buildings with their 30mm Cannons and Helifire Missiles. One column of 380 Tanks had captured the Cyncian Intelligence Building supported by 150,000 Soldiers. They also freed the surviving 70 Dissident Inmates at the nearby Political Prision. The Colstream Air Force had also dropped the 1st Parachute Division and the 101st Assualt Division to secure the Military Base and Airfield nearby for reinforcements and the Colstream Army Garrision.

TO ALL COMBATANTS:

The Cyncian Government has fallen. Only the Parliament Building needs to be captured. Plans for the Future of Cyncia have started. The Colstream Government insists on the following points:

1. No Colonies or Territorial Claims will be asked by any victorious nation. Any claims will be ignored. (May they be by our allies or fellow combatants.)
2. The new government will be sworn in and all forces will depart. There will be a base put on the Thive Side on the Cyncia-Thive Border where a force will be placed in case of any uprisings.
3. The victorious nations will help get Cyncia stable.

The fighting over the city had ceased and the last of the Cynian strong holds had been captured. Parker's platoon was just sitting and relaxing in one of the parks. They watched as troops, trucks, and tanks passed by them. Huey helicopters landed on certain areas around. Civilians began to show up on the streets while several captured enemy soldiers were being gathered up by allied troops. Parker was zoned out when Corporal Johnson arrived.

"Guys!" Johnson had a big smile on his face, "Did you hear?!"

"Hear what Johnson?" Cleveland asked.

"The Cynian capital is being overun!" he continued, "it'll fall in less than a few days!"

"Well that's good news indeed," Parker responded. He then stood up and started walking. He couldn't help looking at the body bags while he was walking down the street. Many have died during this conflict...civilians and soldiers. But he was used to it. He's been in wars before, and they're all the same. He's just glad it was over for him...for his men. 84 Federation soldiers have died just trying to take Sertea...well, at least those were the numbers halfway through the battle...Parker is sure that there's a lot more dying in that damn Capital.

However, Thu'los had no such pleasure. He and a detachment of 24 soldiers from the Maelstrom regiment were busy escorting the government hostages via helicopter to the Colstream capital nearby. In front of the Antigran advance stood thousands of wrecked armour and trucks that had been destroyed by the Antigran Army MT-85 Maruader MBTs. The Cyncian Army Group in the North had 85-90 % of its strength wiped out completely. The remainder had fled west. But a tertiary landing by 120 Colstream Marine Commandos had landed and was conducting Clean Up Operations against a power station between the Alfegos Forces and the Antigran Advance.

Cyncia City-21:38 Local Time ( 15:00 Colstream Time)

The Colstream Army finally secured the Cyncian Parliament Building. Several small pockets remained in the Southwest area but they were merely Infantry with very little equipment. The buildings in the Government Part of the Capital had totally collapsed after continous air raids and shelling. Around 2 Million Cyncian Civilians had died up to this point with 1.3 Million Cyncian Army Casualties. The remaining Cyncian Soldiers had been taken prisoner. The Militia Army had totally perished in the battle for the Cyncian Capital.

Cyncia City- 1 Hour Later.

The Colstream Army started its final barrage of the war. 20,000 Soldiers began a building by building clearance of the Southwestern Corner of Cyncia City. 3000 Cyncian Soldiers trapped in the pocket began a fanatical resistance and some squads were pinned down. Several T-90 MBTs were called and started to bring the buidlings they were hiding in down one by one. After several minutes, the firing slackened and then stopped.

In the Parliament Building, Colstream Engineers began to stabilise the structure in a prelude to a total rebuild. 4 Divisions out of the 7 in Cyncia City began to withdraw eastward out of the city. The rest was staying as security and to deter looting.

Ashland: Republic Of Colstream

News started to filter in of the fall of Cyncia City. Newspapers began to print special editions stating the war was over in the capital. Ah, but it's Colstream who has control over the Cyncians, not you. Just because we're having the upper hand in this is not an excuse for blatant godmodding. If you are capable of posting, you are capable of posting without a godmod, and 'im new to this so cut me some slack' is a poor excuse, for exactly the same reasons, you seem to be able to post in a non-n00b-like-fashion.

As for 'i expected a post of the fightback', you could try to be patient, perhaps? If Colstream forgets after you've given him ample time then just give him a small prompt. Your excuses are poor and your godmodding poorer, take this as some help with how not to get yelled at in future. Flaming will get you reported straight to the mods with some less tolerant people I know, so quit that too.

IC:

It seems the battle of the beach had been won. Indeed, for miles around the area was clear.

Sandrez smiled as he read the reports being handed to him.

"What's this? Commandos? I think we'll up the Ante a bit. Send a few tanks and MIFVs over, give them a bit of help.
Now, I want the armoured column to advance like hell, and link up with either Colstream or Megalithon forces, whichever is closer first. With luck, we'll get an Antigran flag up in the city centres of one of them, if the others are drunk"

---

The orders were coming through the radios now, just as the refuelling was being completed. No time to waste, then.
The men grabbed a quick last few bites or food and set off to link up with allied forces.

Megalithon Forces are closer. The Cities of Grethra and Hightra still need to be captured. These cities hold the only uncaptured Cyncian Forces. The Cyncians only occupy these cities now. Around 30,000 Soldiers remain in that area. They are poorly equiped and are expected to surrender at the moment your forces arrive. They have no armour left as most are either wrecked or captured. The War is expected to be over in 2-3 days. That depends on how fast your forces advance.

The Colstream Capital is not in the Thive Area. The Capital nearby is the Thive Capital, Thive City. Helicopters could not fly 300 Miles. Sorry about that, i should have made it clear.

With the 2 divisions being left in Sertea, further orders for them arrived. Platoon leaders in each battalions were being briefed about their missions as the Colonel stand in front of them:

"Alright men, since the city of Sertea is captured and the beaches neutralized....the only Cynian territories that need to be captured are cities of Grethra and Hightra. With that, this whole war will be over," he said.

Then he pointed on a map..."Our objective is join the Antigran forces heading towards those cities...assuming they'll head our way first. Once we join them, we will provide support. We should have no problems taking the cities with our joint force. The cities have very little resistance compared to Sertea's. The only forces that will remain here in Sertea are the 11th and 76th batallions (2,000 soldiers). With that said...any questions? No? Good. Dismissed."

Parker left the meeting and met with his platoon momentarily.
"So? What's new?" Cleveland asked.
"More work for us..." Parker responded.

Cyncia City:

The Cyncian Capital, once ghostly empty 2 days ago now full of people. The Civilians that had evacuated during the fighting had come back to see what was left of their home. The civilian contractors was now demolishing damaged structures ready to rebuild them. Also the factories was being repaired so jobs could be given to the people living in Cyncia City. This would be the first step to rebuilding the Cyncian Economy which was in ruins. The Cyncian Currency, the Jurenta was nearly worthless so goods were very high in price. Only with the Factories and Shops being rebuilt could the economy be restarted.

3rd Marine Armoured Division

"You what?"

Said Colonel Hughes to the radio. The person on the other side replied.

"You heard. We advance towards Gethra and Hightra, we have 3 divisions for each, plus a lot of reserve firepower. We send an armoured Battalion into Sertea to introduce ourselves, that'll be Major Fenstalle's battalion, and meanwhile we push on. You'll be the lead of the assault on Gehtra, Harry. Out"

Hughes sighed and then broadcast his orders over the radio.
He opened the hatch of his Kraker IIA MBT and looked around. Already, Fenstalle's battalion were breaking off the column and heading towards Sertea. Now, to push on to the two enemy-held cities.

(OOC: Assume they landed for refuelling... you do have more than one airport, right?)
Colstream

OOC: I do in the Southwest in Polsia but thats the nearest airport in the Republic Of Colstream and the only Colstream or allied to Colstream Base in 300 miles east of Thive. However, Thive City, the Capital of the Colstream Republic Of Thive, is 60 Miles East of the Thive/Cyncia Border on the Central South Coast. Then i could get a Colstream Military Flight to meet your Helicopter at the Thive City Military Base 5 Miles West of the City and fly to Ashland Military Base which is 4 Miles East of the Republic Of Colstream's Capital Ashland.

Please have some patience for Colstream, noticed he hasn't been active for 5 days and hasn't responded to anyone else either?

I'm afraid there isn't any other type of RPing so either learn to RP or don't altogether.

Read stickies and learn how to RP first, please. Generally a good idea.
Stickies are at the top of every forum main page and will teach you how to do pretty much everything. They're huge, but it is worth reading them.
