Life, Death, and Rebirth of a Man (Open to All)

NeoAztec

February 10th; Over a unidentified ocean; NeoAztec Presidential Airplane, “Citlalicue’s Star”; 12 PM...

A young man, no older than 28, sat in a leather chair in the conference room, flanked by two large Eagle Warrior bodyguards. Anyone who lived in NeoAztec, or even heard of the country’s name would recognize his well shaven, lightly goateed face. Josh Montezuma, the President of the Collective Government of NeoAztec. He sat in his chair, overlooking several reports about the annual maize harvest. He stroked his goatee thoughtfully; He was wondering about his uncle’s wife’s brother’s nephew’s twice removed second roommate and their life. Mainly, he concentrated on the reports and just stamping them with the official “Aztec Seal”. Suddenly, he heard gunfire in the corridors. Training overrode instinct. One of his bodyguards quickly covered the door, while the other secured the escape hatch. The young president quickly grabbed the Mac-10 under the oak desk. He checked it twice before turning the table over. Simultaneously, 3 things happened.

First, the doors were blown open, sending the bodyguard flying; Shrapnel logged in his vital arteries. Second, gunfire ripped through the clouded doorway, with 5 bullets lodging the second bodyguard in the stomach, sending him painfully to the floor. Third, the president returned fire with his Mac, sending a heavily tattooed Aztecan down to the floor. Gunfire continued to be exchanged as the president made his way to the escape hatch. The wounded Eagle Warrior, summoning all the will he could muster, propped himself up and pulled out his PP7. He fired off several shots, which rewarded him with two screams of pain from the hostiles. The president pulled himself to the hatch and nodded towards the bodyguard as he slipped down. As the hatch shut, the guard threw himself onto it, preventing anyone from opening it. He got off several more shots before the gun was empty. Out of the smoke, 5 figures came out. One, a heavyset man who was obviously the leader, looked at the guard. He yelled something to the other 4, but the guard had lost blood and was getting hazy. The four other figures left and the last one pulled out a pistol and aimed it towards the guard. The guard almost gave up, but then remembered his oath. I swear to defend the crown as long as I live. He quickly removed a dagger and thrust it into the throat of the man. The leader looked surprised, and then fell to the ground. The guard lay back, too tired to move. As the darkness surrounded him, he had one last thought.
I did it. I served to the best of my ability. I gave the president a few more---

With that, the man was lost to Mictlantecuhtzi.

The president ran through the airplane, oblivious to the sacrifice of his guard. He knew this route; it was drilled into his memory. He ran to the escape pod. However, just as he almost got there, a bullet ripped through his left leg. He fell with as yelp, like a wounded dog. He tried to crawl, but his way was blocked by one of the attackers. The man grinned like a shark, and aimed his MP5 at the 28 year old. The president removed something from his suit. A detonator. As the man’s eyes widened with shock and his grin went into horror, the president in turn grinned and said. “See you in hell.”

The president pushed the button.

President Josh Montezuma Killed in Hijacking Gone Wrong
All Killed in Sequential Explosion

Two days ago, at 12 PM the presidential airplane, “Citlalicue’s Star”, was attacked by a terrorist group. Apparently the group (Huitzilopochtli's Sons) was trying to take-over the plane and hold the crew and president hostage. However, the plane was destroyed 10 minutes after the initial attack. Officials believe that it the president, in a last ditch effort to escape, had accidentally triggered the emergency explosive device. Vice President Xipotec Telot had this to say:

"Josh Montezuma was a great man, and I had deep respect for him. We willfind out who did this. If there are other conspiritors, they will be found and killed. No more questions, please.

With this announcement, Martial Law has been declared and all flights in and out of the country have been postponed for an unknown amount of time. When more information is acquired, it will be sent out. However, as of now, all we can do is mourn the lost of our beloved president.

OOC: This will be developed as a story. I have plans. Feel free to post.

To Vice-President Xipotec Telot of the Collective Government of NeoAztec:

On behalf of the Grand Republic of One World Alliance, I send my utmost condolences on the recent departure of President Josh Montezuma.

The Grand Republic has long condemned such acts of terrorism from rogue extremist organizations, and firmly believes that only through responsible, open forums of public debate and discourse can these extremists be allowed to bring their ideas and opinions before the government, to petition the government in an effective form of right, thereby essentially eliminating the need for any acts of violence and terrorism to be carried out.

The Grand Republic sincerely wishes the best for the Collective Government of NeoAztec, and as of such the Senate has indicated a very strong willingness to stand by in the event that you require our aid. However, the Senate strongly urges your government to immediately end your martial law, and restore democracy to your people without delay. Until then, the Senate will not approve any effective measure of aid for your people.

Please understand, I am willing and ready to assist you and your people in this great time of need, but you must remain the vigilent, responsible government that you have proved yourself to be, and refrain from overimpassioned acts of counterzeal in trying to counteract the terrorists. It is my greatest hope that the Collective Government of NeoAztec shall remain a beacon of liberty and justice, and most importantly, freedom, throughout the world.

Thank you, and together, let us fight extremism by exemplifying liberty and freedom.

Imperial Palace, Rilloria City
High-Chancellor Dreiser read the intelligence reports on his desk for the day. One of them caught his eye. He leaned forward and touched the button on his intercom.
"Get me Imperitor Voronin immediately." he commanded.
A few minutes later a man entered the office dressed in a black uniform. He snapped to attention and saluted.
"You sent for me High-Chancellor." he spoke in a raspy voice.
"What do you make of these recent developments in NeoAztec, Imperitor?"
"We have analysts working on it sir. We are already assembling a team for insertion."
The High-Chancellor leaned toward Voronin.
"Who is leading the team Imperitor?" he asked and squinted his eyes.
"Optio Aloyis Bertiz sir."
"Excellent. Have the team prepped and inserted Imperitor."
"Yes sir, at once."

Skies over northern NeoAztec, 0330hrs
The small twin-engine plane zipped along cutting down through the cloud cover. Its jet-black paint masked the approach in the night sky. Optio Bertiz along with the other four members of his squad sat huddled in the back of the aircraft. Suddenly a red light came on. The five men stood and hooked the parachut cords up. It flashed to green and one after another, they jumped out the open hatchway and into the darkness.

Outskirts of NeoAztec capital, 0650hrs
The men of Bertiz's squad had already changed into their civilian clothing. They had all the documentation they needed as well as local currency. All of them had been briefed extensively on the local customs and culture to make it easier to blend in. They all spoke NeoAztec very fluently. Their mission was to find out what had really happened to the President. They split up in order to not arouse suspicion. Optio Bertiz set off toward the slums of the capital city, eager to find out who was behind the terrorist attack.

February 13, Aztec Countryside, Locke's Brewery & Plantation, 6:13 PM

John Locke sat at his desk in one of the most luxurious arm chair, (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f1/BellangeFauteuil.jpg) reading the day's newspaper. He rubbed his bald head with one hand, while the other stroked his goatee. There was a knock at the door.

John looked up and yelled. "Come in!"

A young man who looked strikingly similar to John walked into the room. He resembles John in almost every way except for the fact he has hair and is missing the goatee. He solemnly nods to his father.

"Still going over that newspaper, dad?"

John nodded, even more solemnly and commented. "Josh was a good friend, and I'll be damned if it was just a simple 'terrorist hijack'. Somebody really wanted to knock him off, Jack."

Jack gave a reminisce of a grin and took a seat in the opposing chair.

"You think somebody in the Parliament wanted to knock him off?"

John gives a slight acknowledging grunt, eyes still pasted to the paper. Finally, he looks up.

"I'll bet my ARA license. And by the looks of it, I won't have to wait long."

Jack sighs. "Always such a pessimist." Out load, he says.

"Come on. Marys got some chicken and the good old maize-on a-cob ready down stair."

John laughs. "Jack sure knows how to get me out of my misery."

"You're lucky to have a wife that cooks well. Remember my cooking?"

Jack also laughs. "Never tasted anything that was more bullshit then that. See you down there, old man."

With that, Jack leave his father alone in the office. John ponders the situation for a minute, then decides. "Hell, Josh would have wanted me to eat well." At peace, the veteran agent leaves his office with his cane at his side.

Breaking News:

The Grand Republic of One World Alliance Officially Condemns the Collective Government of NeoAztec

Associated Press- The Senate of the Grand Republic of One World Alliance approved a nonbinding resolution of political condemnation upon the government of NeoAztec today by a sweeping majority. Subsequently, all foreign aid and trade has been suspended towards NeoAztec, and any citizens within NeoAztec have been urged to evacuate via Republic supplied airplanes.

In a last ditch effort to maintain political ties with NeoAztec in hopes of possibly salvaging whats left of relations between the Grand Republic and NeoAztec and convincing NeoAztec to end its martial law and other such newly enacted totalitarianistic policies, Chancellor Nicolae Augustus has ordered for all diplomats to remain within NeoAztec for the time being.

In a written statement to the Republic, the Chancellor slammed the NeoAztec government concerning the new developments:

"The Collective Government of NeoAztec has been rocked to its core by the assassination of its beloved president. However, instead of remaining true to their democratic foundations, and proving to the international community and the terrorists themselves that they will remain unwavering and resolute in their belief in democracy, they have instead demonstrated their weakness and vulnerability, and have regrettably surrendered and succumbed to the very terrorists they claim to be fighting. The degression of civil liberties within NeoAztec, namely the suspicion of particular orgainizations, the suspension and criminalization of nongovernment contracted agencies and pro-weapon organizations, have proved that indeed absolute power corrupts absolutely. The Grand Republic of One World Alliance strongly condemns such intransigent cowardice, and will move to bring about an acceptable resolution to this crisis by any means necessary."

Though the administration did not provide an explanation for the exact meaning of "any means necessary," those close to the Chancellor have hinted towards a military campaign, and a possible occupation of NeoAztec. A government source, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, said that the Chancellor will very shortly make a determination as to whether or not to recall the Republic ambassador to NeoAztec, and all other diplomatic personnel. The source also went on to say that if the Chancellor does recall all diplomats, military intervention will soon follow.

In an interview that followed shortly after the Chancellor released his statement, Secretary of State John Negroponte said "The Grand Republic will not stand idly by while the citizens of NeoAztec have their civil liberties and freedom slowly and erronously chipped away. We are currently giving diplomacy and peace a chance in our arbitration with NeoAztec, but our patience and reservations will only carry on for so long. In the end, we will do whatever it takes to return freedom and the rule of law to NeoAztec."

Although the government of the Grand Republic has stopped short of actually enumerating the possibility of military action against NeoAztec, if the Chancellor does decide to move towards such action, it would take the approval of the Senate before any military units could be engaged.

Further developments of this situation are soon to follow.
