(OOC: This thread is a reinactment of the history of our nation's Second Great Nova Europan War, and is closed to anyone not in Nova Europa)
“And so gentlemen, we are to discuss the immediate and absolute reannexation of The World Soviet Party into the Reich. For twenty some odd years our two nations have been separated, our people under the tyranny of their Red leadership, and thus we need to save our people,” thus began the speech by the Wanderjarian Fuhrer of the Great Anschluss of the World Soviet Party into Wanderjar, rejoining their Prussian cousins who had split before the conclusion of the Great Nova Europa War. The Prussian General Staff had gathered around a large oak wood table, upon which rested a large map of the border between Wanderjar and the World Soviet Party, unit markers indicated large Divisions, Army Corps, and Army Group movements into the Western Nation were drawn to assault individual cities, circles drawn around Areas of Operation (AOs’) which would become the focal point and objective for their conquest.
The Trivalian and other Entente nations had shown themselves to be weak before Prussian demands, shirking away from dealing with their demands and doing little more than meager and half hearted protests as Prussian forces absorbed Nova Belarus into the Reich. Now, as they looked over to their Soviet brothers, the temptation for a land grab was unavoidable. These people would rejoin their Prussian brothers as Sons of the Fatherland…and they would have vengence.
It was decided that General Volker would spear head the assault into WSP with his III Armee Korps, consisting of 3, 8, 18, 23, and 28th Infanterie Divisions, and led by Heersgruppe A, each of which had the added benefit of artillery brigade support. These would assault the city of Kalte Stadt, The enemies bases to the north would be simultaneously hit by the I PanzerArmee under Generalleutnant von Kleist. The 1st Panzer Division would, assisted by the 29th Motorised Infanterie Division assault the Army Base, whilst the 2nd Panzer and the 13th Motorised Infanterie would hit the large city north of it. The enemy airbase would be struck with Luftflotte 2, consisting of several squadrons of Heinkel He 111 aircraft, as well as supported by Messerschmitt Bf-109 escorts, while on the ground the 3rd Motorised Infanterie Division would take control of the base after the bombardment. The Luftflotte 1, consisting of Dornier 23s and still yet more Bf-109s would support the action over Kalte Stadt, and the 3rd Fligerkorps which was an amalgamation of numerous fighter and bomber types, remained in temporary reserve to come forth when needed. Behind these two Corps of ground forces, several fallschirmjaeger divisions would be dropped even farther north to attempt to secure positions for the III PanzerArmee and II Armee Korps to secure. Once this was done, if any more forces were needed they would be moved from the border and advance towards Red City. The plan was set, all that needed to occur was the execution. And as the General Staff relayed the orders to their Junior Officers, and Wanderjarian troops entered WSP soil, it was said that a comet crossed the sky, burning with an unusually bright red glow…perhaps symbolically of the horror which was about to engulf the entire continent.

Tensions between The Red Republic and the Reich had been growing lately, not one year ago, the Wanderjarians had annexed Nova Belarus, and, despite the official protests made by the Allies and the World, the incident had been allowed to happen without further resistance.
Since then, the Red Army had been on high alert, defensive lines had been dug up, bunkers had been built and massive recruitment campaigns had bolstered the Armed Forces's lines. High Command believed that the war would be over quick, with a "Soviet" victory, after all, mass-assaults supported with artillery had proven to be quite effective in the last war, and there was no reason to doubt this conflict would be any different.
Indeed, your common Soviet trooper was armed with a standard issue Karabiner 98k bolt-action rifle, a handy bayonet and a few grenades. Only in the last years had sub-machine guns and steel helmets begun to make their appereance in official parades and the likes. All in all, the Army had outdated weapons, outdated tactics and outdated officers.
That didnt mean they were not a force to be reckoned with, for 1937 standards (other than Wanderjarians), they were quite a formidable force, capable of mantaining national sovereignity and one or two overseas colonies.
Anyways, soon enough, the Red Republic, and indeed, all of Nova Europa, would be put to test.
Soviet-Wanderjarian Border,
Near Kalte Stadt,
0600 Hours
As any city bordering Wanderjar, Kalte Stadt had a large garrison equipped with the latest in military technology such as machine-guns, planes made entirely from metal and a small, mobile force (reconverted trucks for military use carrying around 10-12 troopers on the back). Border outposts relied on post great-war radio equipment to make their reports, and it's effectives were armed with little else than the standard issue.
The first place to witness the advance of the Wanderjarian forces was one of these outposts, commanded by a Lieutenant answering to the last name "Richards". He was fresh out of the academy and had under him a small platoon, tasked with making daily patrols, mantaining peace in the nearby farms and things like that.
It was one of such patrols that, while preparing breakfast, heard the rumbling noise made by tracks, not that they could identfy them as such. They could, however, quickly notice the explosions going on up-hill, in the HQ, and the hundreds of planes going over them, into the countryside.
Being a brave bunch, they picked their weapons and started running... away from the border and back to the city.
Meanwhile, Lt. Richards frantically yelled into his radio, requesting support, planes, artillery, battleships, anything High Command could spare.
High Command, was at first, reluctant to admit that they could have missed such a massive attack, and chose to disregard Richards's warning as mere hallucinations. This, of course, left Richards and his men on their own.

The Panzerkampfwagons stormed ahead towards the city. Hundreds of them, followed by trucks laden with infantrymen and above the roaring flights of fighter craft escorting their compatriot bomber squadrons. The Red Army Squad would be soon enveloped underfoot of this mighty war machine lest it remain hidden for the time being.
The air units arrived over the city with a foreboding low drone. As they crossed over top, bombardiers keyed in upon targets of interest. These included Government buildings, large concentrations of people (which found themselves specifically targeted by fire bombs) and troop positions which had found themselves on the outskirts of the town. Fighter craft strafed the city streets and proceeded to fly about across its area, waiting for unfortunate Red Air Force units to attempt to come to the aid of the poor Comrades of the Red Republic, only to find themselves too late. The Heer Forces would find themselves inside the city soon enough, and its pacification in the name of the Reich soon thereafter.
Over the Air Base, a similar scene erupted. Messerschmit Fighters arced across the skies tearing apart any craft which attempted routine patrols, and others strafed the ground tearing apart confused and frightened grounded pilots and maintenance people. Dornier bombers followed in their wake, dropping innumerable bombs across the hanger bays and runways, cratering it beyond immediate repair. It would however be repaired once the 2nd Infanterie Division overran its feeble defenders, and turned into a forward operating base for the Wehrmacht.
The Kriegsmarine had also mobilised for this operation. The U-Boat Corps had yet to be tested, and thus found themselves sailing into Red Republican waters the night before, stalking enemy convoys and waiting patiently outside of the port cities to pounce upon transport ships and docked battleships. Dozens of wolf packs had filled up the area and readied their torpedo bays to open fire at the enemy docks, and annihilate an entire enemy merchand and combat fleet while it slept. The enemies naval presence in the Baltic would be crippled or even decimmated.
The Army Base would find itself also pummeled, as heavy artillery barrages poured onto it, the German Panzer Division and its Infanterie Divisions along with it waited for it to be thoroughly saturated with shell fire. They would soon enough, once the barrage lifted, press forward onto the attack and seize the ground from the battered Red Army presence. In addition to artillery however, the bomber squadrons dropped ordinance onto their positions in an attempt to completely wipe the forces out before the Prussian forces began to storm the positions. The less men that had to fall taking this position for the Fatherland, the more that could assault the next one. Fighter craft immediately established air superiority over the air space, and fully intended to hold onto it.
The General Staff was pleased with the progress thus far. Every thing was going as planned, and the Fuhrer was quite pleased. He insisted that it continue to the fullest possible, and the Generals planned to faciliate this request. If everything continued as it was, victory would be a certainty.....

Lt. Richards was shocked, not only had the High Command treated him as a madman, but they had cut radio contact and completely ignored every sign of the impending attack. So, it was with a heavy heart that he picked up an Erma (http://germanwarmachine.com/weapons/smallarms/erma.htm) from the gun rack and called his men.
"Okay men, this is it, the Wanderjarians have finally made their move. As of now, a state of war exists between the Red Republic" Or what's left of it, he thought "And the Wanderjarian Reich. Our last orders stand, we will defend this post with our lives, and if any of you try to desert, I'l shoot you myself" he finished the sentence showing everyone the Mauser C-96 (http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg90-e.htm) handgun on his holster.
There were no questions, everyone went to his position, some to man the MG-08s (http://germanwarmachine.com/weapons/smallarms/mg08.htm), others to the mortar outside, and a few remained with their rifles. The first Wanderjarian to appear before them would be a dead man.
Meanwhile
Back in Kalte Stadt, things were not going any better as the buzzing created by the planes got many people out of their beds and into the streets, to check out what was happening. Indeed, Wanderjarian pilots massacred the half-asleep population of Kalte Stadt, only those who remained in their homes, or got lucky were spared of the bullets, bombs and fire from above.
The city garrison too, was bombed to rubble before it could react, what few aeroplanes could be scrambled were quickly shot down, or, more commonly, destroyed on the ground.
Infantry, looking for better defensive positions, poured into the city and occupied every building they came across, forcing the unlucky owners out to the living hell that Kalte Stadt was being turned into.
Only when General Werner, commander of the Kalte Stadt garrison, called High Command, did they begin to realize what was going on.

Kalte Stadt was soon to be the first city to fall to the might of the Reich. The 8th Panzer Division would be the first unit into the city, followed by the several infanterie divisions. The Division, consisting of four hundred and fifty PzKpfw IIs', as well as the numerous units which served support roles. An infantry brigade, attached to the 8th Panzer, also moved in behind the forward Armour Brigades in order to provide infantry support. General Volker ordered the continuous air attacks over the city to keep momentum, whilst protecting the vulnerable armoured units advancing into the city. The enemy would begin opening fire, only to find that their weapons were no match for the might of the German Panzer Corps.
The Air Base was now facing another assault, as the 2nd Infanterie stormed into it's perimeter and began to rapidly attempt to seize control. The chaos of the prior bombardments would leave them destitute and without order, thus making this a relatively easily claimed objective. The General Staff was not much concerned with its garrison, assuming they would likely collapse. The air support, save from a few squadrons of fighter craft, was redirected to the Army Base, to ensure the majority of it's garrison crumbled. Meanwhile, the Panzer and Infanterie Divisions began advancing on the enemy base, blasting apart forward positions with their main guns and rolling over barbed wire and positions built long ago to prevent an infantry assault, yet were not ready for armoured warfare.
Oberst Johann Melchert ordered his battalion forward, recieving word from the point company that a small infantry unit had been discovered attempting to create a pathetic last ditch defense.
'This should be fun,' He mused, looking over to his Radio Telephone Operator. 'Tell the Infanterie Company attachment that they can deal with them. Also have First Company divert a platoon of PzKpfw IIs. Terminate them with, and please emphasise this, extreme predjudice."
"Jawohl mein herr," The RTO replied, and made the orders.
Melchert sneered. "Those poor bastards, they never knew what hit them."

Unfortunately for the Wanderjarians, Kalte Statd would not fall that fast, and yes, even when outnumbered, outgunned and outsmarted, the Red Army would keep fighting.
The air base was littered with burning wrecks, formerly planes, which let out huge smoke columns, darkening the sky and covering the sun. A few men from the ground crew had taken cover behind them, and took potshots at the advancing tanks, watching in awe as the bullets ricocheted off the heavy armour.
As for the army base, it was now empty (if you didnt count bodies and wounded men), since the garrison had already left for the city, in a last attempt at an organized defense. However, they were completely pinned down by the continual air strikes, and many troopers perished under the bombs, fire and rubble.
Meanwhile, the Baltic Fleet, which was not big to begin with, had been caught off-guard in it's home ports, the U-Boats quickly disposing of the old dreadnoughts, which, consumed in flames, sunk into the harbour, blocking the exits. Complete chaos engulfed the Navy as sailors and civilians alike ran back and forth, carrying dead and wounded to the coast. Five minutes after the attack commenced, a white flag was raised over the base, the Red Navy had given in without a fight.
Richards's situation wasnt any better, his platoon had waited, hiding in it's bunker, for the enemy to come and, as if by magic, an anti-tank rifle from the great-war, a family relic belonging to a Corporal, had been added to the small unit.
When the first tank appeared over the hill, Richards gave the order to open fire after the first mortar shell impacted, then, he went outside and fired it himself.
The situation in High Command was chaotic, nobody knew what had happened, how such a big offensive could have been missed by the intelligence services. Messages were sent to every garrison and base, letting the people know that there was a war going on, and that every able-bodied young man was to present himself at the nearest recruiting station, so as to serve his Motherland, new lines were being dug, and old ones were being reinforced with whatever anti-tank weapons could be found or made, ranging from proper artillery pieces to molotov cocktails.

The Anti-Tank weapons of the Great War were a joke. The Red Army Corporal who fired the anti-tank weapon managed to get a lucky shot, and made a sizeable dent in the armour, but little else. It was immediately met with return fire from the tank's main gun, as well as coaxial machine guns which pelted the enemy positions with fury. As more Prussian tanks closed in on the enemy position as well as the infantry company behind them, the lives of the Red Army platoon were very limited.
The Kriegsmarine had steamed ahead into the Red Republic port, transport ships among them, deploying several Marine-Sturm Battalions into the harbour to secure it for the regular Heer forces to be deployed there. The white flag was removed and replaced with the Prussian Jack, the black, white, and red Tricolour with a black Iron Cross in the center. The Marine Commandant, GeneralMajor Hahn, stepped off his transport ship surrounded by a surging battalion of blue-gray uniformed Wanderjarian Marines. They advanced into the city, seeking out the small resistance and eradicating it, while Hahn issued an order to locate the garrison commander of the harbour as well as the Red Fleet and parlay with him. Hopefully at least one of them were not killed in the U-Boat attack, but even if they were it would not truly matter. Discussing terms of surrendering the city, with Wanderjarian marines already storming the port and regulars soon en route anyhow, were more for purposes of formality than true necessity.
'Oh well,' He thought to himself. 'We can show them that we have a good knowledge of sophistication.'
The city would prove to be somewhat harder to tame than initially expected. Armoured columns rode into town, and were confronted by hails of irrelevant gunfire. Shells crashed into windows, blowing apart buildings and enemy firing positions, and buildings known as strong points were ruthlessly bombed by the Luftwaffe. Infantrymen scurried alongside buildings, maintaining cover and calling in artillery and armour fire on enemy positions which presented resistance. Enemy infantry in some areas had formed barricades which they defended valiantly, yet the Panzerkampfwagons and infanterie units simply would provide too much power. Rifles and machineguns pinned enemy troops in their cover, while artillery, air support aircraft, or the tanks themselves fired upon them with the finishing blows. Swift death engulfed all who opposed the Reich.
The enemy army and airforce bases had been successfully seized, and their perimeters secured. The enemy pilots and crewmen were lined up against walls and ultimately packed into trucks as prisoners of war. They would not be executed, for trained pilots and crewmen could be potentially...reeducated and utilised in future campaigns, the few who had not been killed that is. Now they advanced Westward, hoping to quickly overrun all enemy forces and keep up their momentum. They were followed by the luftflottes providing air support, and advancing ahead of the enemy to seek out positions for bombing and strafing. Fallschirmjaeger Divisions deployed across the Southern Front moved ahead of the Panzer Divisions et al. Soon enough this war would be done. More Armee Korps advanced into the Red Republic, assisting in adding momentum and strength into the Prussian lines. The Red Republic was now fighting an uphill battle against the mightiest military on earth.

OOC: A small change, my guys will not be using the Kar 98k, but instead will sport the Neuman-Peters Rifle Model 1905/32 Mk. III with the standard pattern sword bayonet:

IC:
Navy officers watched in silence as the Red flag was brought down and replaced by the Prussian jack, no comments were made, and a few left the scene with worried looks on their faces. It was then that a man sporting the rank of Rear-Admiral approached GeneralMajor Hahn, holding a white handerkchief.
"Greetings Herr General, I beg you to allow those men that left to do their bidding, they have taken their guns with them, as for the base, I'm afraid that the Admiral was killed during the attack, therefore, I am... was the maximum authority in the base."
Meanwhile, the remaining soldiers in Kalte Stadt put up a last, desperate effort at an organized defense, scurrying from their hideouts and into the Town Hall, where they set an improvised fort, blocking doors and windows and opening fire on the approaching tanks and Landsers.
Richards wasnt very lucky either, as after watching his secret-weapon, the anti-tank rifle, his platoon started a desperate retreat, even then, he didnt have time to shoot them, as he was knocked out by the Corporal and left behind. Needless to say, his men were easy prey for the Wanderjarian Panzers, and got mowed down by machine gun fire before surrendering.
OOC: That's it for Kalte Stadt, I assume you'll bomb the Town Hall and continue advancing. As for High Command, they'll put every fighter and bomber they can spare in the air, and mobilize the population.
All in all, I think the hardest position to assault will end up being Adlers Schloss, which is a castle in the middle of the mountains, if you have seen "Where Eagles Dare", you might notice a similarity =p
