Cotland Shifts National Border West, Skirmishes Ensue
By Thorstein Dahle

EEOBROHT/VESTSTAD (CFP): Cottish military forces crossed over the border into the sparsely populated Western Territories early this morning.

The large-scale military operation, which involvs more than one million soldiers from all branches of the military, is codenamed Operation Western Resolve and has the stated objective to put an end to the five-decade long series of skirmishes that has taken place between the heathen nomadic Nejai terrorists and the Realm.

General Oskarssønn, Commanding General Army Region West said in the press conference that the Cottish Forces were advancing quickly through the mountainous Rashii area, encountering little resistance as they rapidly reached their objectives. According to the General, the men are well trained, equipped and motivated, and determined to secure these areas once and for all.

The Western Territories have been a disputed area for well over a century, and hostilities have occured between the barbaric Nejai people and the Realm since Cotland started advancing into the Rashii area fifty-three years ago. Since then, skirmishes have occured between Cottish forces and Nejai terrorists on a regular basis.

However, it wasn't until the massacre at the small frontier village of Torsstad last month where sixty-three men, women and children were murdered in cold blood by Nejai terrorists that the Military finally decided to take decisive action against the Nejai. General Oskarssønn said that Operation Western Resolve was a direct consequense of the Torsstad Massacre, and that those responsible for training, feeding, harboring, helping or otherwise supporting the terrorists that were responsible for "this gruesome act of heathen barbarism shall be severely punished."

When asked how far the Cottish would advance, General Oskarssønn replied simply, "As far as we have to."

The Nejai people are worshipers of a pagan godess called Whalladuni, to whom they are reported to preform human sacrifices. The Nejai are also known to migrate over vast distances, and are a very mobile people, using horses and mules to traverse great distances and carrying out dastardly but ill-concieved raids against the Realm and its Armed Forces.

Though General Oskarssønn refused to comment when asked, anonymous sources within the Ministry for the Defense of the Realm said that it is the intention to integrate the lands occupied by the Military into the Realm as they are taken, and that millions of citizens will hopefully chose to relocate further west to the new territories.

Rashii Mountains, 11 KM from the Cottish border
18:25 Cottish Standard Time - Day 1

Colonel Bergesen looked out the window from the passenger compartment of the lead AH-39A Bellicus attack helicopter as it and three other Bellicus helicopters streaked through a mountain pass secured a few hours earlier by Bergensens regiment and currently serving as one of four main transport arteries for the Cottish Army as it pressed on westward, searching for the Nejai terrorists the Army had been given a carte blanche to track down and kill. The King himself had ordered the operation to be planned and carried out after the Torsstad Massacre thirty-nine days ago, and this was the culmination of all that hard planning.

Bergenssen watched as the helicopter streaked over a collumn of freshly delivered ST-47K1C Aray main battle tanks and suddenly banked left, moving into another valley with large mountains on either side of the helicopter, its sensors constantly searching for any remaining terrorists that it could use its deadly armaments on.

After a few minutes, the Bellicus helicopters suddenly emerged from the mountains and faced a vast open plain. There were fewer Cottish forces on the ground, Bergesen saw, but those he did see were those who belonged to him. The Colonel's regiment, the 257. Mechanized Rifle Regiment was moving through this plain, and had reported encountering a Nejai village here.

That was four hours ago, and now Bergesen himself was on his way from the meeting with the Division commander back at the Division CP to see the sight for himself.

The Bellicus slowed down quickly and came to a hover a mere meter off the ground, not wanting to set down because of the potential threat of landmines. Not that the Nejai employed such things, but that was how the pilots were trained to preform their duties in a battlefield environment, and this was most definately a battlefield environment.

The crew chief opened the sliding door, and the first one out into the lush half-meter tall grass was Bergesen, who was dressed like the other Cottish soldiers in his camouflage uniform, tactical vest, helmet, gloves and combat boots, with a DR-83M assault rifle slinging from a carrying harness ready to be used, and with a TDX pistol firmly stuffed into a tactical holster strapped to the Colonel's right hip.

Waiting at the improvised LZ was the regiment's second in command, Lieutenant Colonel Odinssønn, waiting with a radioman and a CMPLV tactical truck. The Lieutenant Colonel didn't salute the Colonel, as was common practice when in a battlefield environment, as he gave the report.

"The Recce Company came across the village when they were doing their preliminary sweep of the area and called it in. First and Third Battalions encircled the village and cut off their escape routes before the arty began opening up. The enemy put up a hell of a fight, but we crushed them sir. A lot of weapons and intelligence was found in the remains of the village, along with some thirty prisoners. What do you want us to do with them sir?" Odinssønn reported as the two officers got into the CMPL, with the radioman driving.

"What's the disposition of the prisoners?" Bergesen asked as he closed the door and the CMPL started driving across the plain to the regimental command post two hundred meters away.

"Sixteen women, five children and the rest men sir. They're being held at the Regiment CP under armed guard."

"Good. Start interrogating the men and women."

"And the children sir?"

"No need to put them through more than they have. Execute them, but painlessly."

"Yes sir." Odinssønn replied coldly. Like almost all the Cottish, he had absolutely no love for or indeed did he care about the Nejai or their fates. Not after the brutal massacre at Torsstad last month.

"Division told me that there's a Doomani helicopter squadron and some advisors that's going to be joining us for this campaign. The helicopter will be attached to the General, but the advisors are going to be distributed among the units. We're getting a few attached to our Regiment."

"Advisors sir? Don't High Command think that we know how to fight this scum?"

"High Command has every confidence in us Colonel. But the Doomanis have a unique insight in how to best crush a insurgency like the one we're bound to be facing now that we've committed to a full-scale war against the Nejai, and they'll be sharing some of that insight and wisdom with us. Besides, they're just what the name says: Advisors."

"Yes sir."

"I want you to see to it that the Doomani advisors get to be present at the interrogation. I have a feeling that we'll have to employ Doomani methods in the sudjugation and christening of these heathens."

"Yes sir."

[OOC: What exactly are you doing in my RP? If you wanted to participate, I'd appreciate at least asking me before posting so we could see if your participation would work out with the way I plan on this thing turning out.]

Since I recently changed regions and got new land, I'm retconning this RP. It never happened, since this territory I planned to take is in a region I'm not in anymore.
