President Jon Hay stopped at the foot of the stairs. He turned to wave one last time at the small crowd that had gathered to see him off. As Secretary for Defence Donald Ducksfelt and Secretary for Foreign Affairs Alexander Doona walked past him he again turned towards the jet and followed them up the red carpet of the stairs, disappearing through the cabin door of the government Airbus A340.

The three men walked through the lobby and into the second room, scattered with first class airline seats. Jon was too tired from the day’s business running the country and didn’t really want to head to his office straight away. He sat down in a seat facing opposite his two Secretaries and sent a steward off for drinks. All three diplomats were looking forward to a long and relaxing flight. As with any foreign visit, there respective deputies were now running the country and it was good to have a chance at some down time.

The magnificent whir of the Rolls-Royce turbofans became distinctly louder and the aircraft began taxying away from the VIP terminal and towards the heart of Googleopolis International Airport. It slotted into the takeoff que behind a ‘Tiki Toko Airways’ 747 and within minutes was speeding down a runway. The three men felt the rumble of the landing gear stop as the jet lifted off from the asphalt and soared into smooth flight.

The President’s jet was away, on its task to deliver a Googlewooper diplomatic mission to the nation of Karshkovia.

Peter Smith, one of the full-time ATC officers, watches his scope in the darkened single-level building for an aircraft of extreme importance, flying in from over the southern ocean.

Oceana Control flashes a message to his terminal and Peter accepts the information and the hand-off of the flight which is right on time.

"Googlewooper One, this is Karshka Center, please descend and maintain Flight Level 290. Maintain current heading."

Peter then handed the aircraft over to Borofski Approach when it was near the airport. They in-turn brought the aircraft into alignment with the runway and handed the aircraft over to the tower for the ILS approach.

Once on the ground, the Tower handed the aircraft over to Ground Control who directed the aircraft to the waiting dignitaries and brass band. A long red carpet was rolled out in front of the movable stairs.

Vladimir Radchenko smiled as he and his delegation prepared to meet the Googlewooper delegation.
