President Jon Hay stopped at the foot of the stairs. He turned to wave one last time at the small crowd that had gathered to see him off. As Secretary for Defence Donald Ducksfelt and Secretary for Foreign Affairs Alexander Doona walked past him he again turned towards the jet and followed them up the red carpet of the stairs, disappearing through the cabin door of the government Airbus A340.
The three men walked through the lobby and into the second room, scattered with first class airline seats. Jon was too tired from the day’s business running the country and didn’t really want to head to his office straight away. He sat down in a seat facing opposite his two Secretaries and sent a steward off for drinks. All three diplomats were looking forward to a long and relaxing flight. As with any foreign visit, there respective deputies were now running the country and it was good to have a chance at some down time.
The magnificent whir of the Rolls-Royce turbofans became distinctly louder and the aircraft began taxying away from the VIP terminal and towards the heart of Googleopolis International Airport. It slotted into the takeoff que behind a ‘Tiki Toko Airways’ 747 and within minutes was speeding down a runway. The three men felt the rumble of the landing gear stop as the jet lifted off from the asphalt and soared into smooth flight.
The President’s jet was away, on its task to deliver a Googlewooper diplomatic mission to the nation of Karshkovia.
