It is an unfortunate truth which our contemporary history has proved once again: A being born in entirely foreign conditions of habitat, with entirely different ways of sentience, communications and overall survival is a being which might eventually seek supremacy over us. The divisions between cultures among the same species can be surpassed and peace be achieved in such level, but the divisions among sentience of different spacefaring alien races cannot. It is only a matter of time before the Aliens attempt to rule over us. The only way to ensure our survival, freedom and sovereignty is to exterminate all those who are ripe to attempt their move against mankind and to keep a close watch in all aliens, to eliminate all those once they become threats. That is diplomacy in space

Discourse on the 15th Xenodiplomacy Congress

Immaterium, Unknown Time

It was not known what led to such decision of sending such a large fleet to what they knew as the Shadow Universe. The Unity theorized the possibility that the distress signal was simply a ruse from demons to lure them to that place, but so far, although meeting fierce threats, the Unity, a singular hive mind which began its existence after that the thousands of men from the First Xenocide Operation Fleet sacrificed temporarily their individualities to form it through the connection of their minds through the brain computer interfaces and neural implants they had, as a way have a better chance of resisting against the psychic attacks from the Warp, has stood firm against the abominations that roamed that placed although there were visible signs of battle on its starships which had scorch marks on their almost mirror-like ice shields. Inheriting the psychic capabilities of half of the entire crew, a half which members were psykers from the OSA psi-corps, and with the help of the 129 artificial intelligences connected it was seeking the place where the Warp would again meet the physical universe where their goal was located. Their goal was an alien infested planet known only as Fusion which threatened humanity on its solar system.

They were three massive torchships (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torchship) called Redoubtable Class carriers with a very thin nose in their fronts, to the point it could be considered that its tip was built in a molecular scale, thinner than the blade of a rapier, and in fact it was. On their large aft, those carriers were as long as seven blocks from a street, as wide as four blocks and twenty meters more tall as the early 21st century British 30 St Mary Axe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/30_St_Mary_Axe), having a total of 30 decks. One of them stood as the flagship and in one of its sides the phrase "Xenodiplomat" stood ironically as its name. Its two brothers were christened as the "Reemergence" and "Admiral Cortez",their weapons were simply not visible outside as they were, for now, retracted inside their hulls. Following their triangle wing formation, six cruisers and also torchships, which were more than half as large as the carriers, with the length of four blocks and half, and almost as tall as the carriers with their aft height of a hundred and seventeen meters, equivalent of a smaller skyscraper, flew in a line formation, with their weapons equally hidden from the outside view, they were named "Homo Superior", "Katyusha", "Yeoman", "Invincible", ". And further behind finally a group of 350 meters long Exterminator Class Frigates (http://www.egosoft.com/games/x3/screenshots/x3_screen_266.jpg) which names were "Bakuns", "Planetarium", "Ravine", "Asured Destruction", "Darwinian", "Trepanator", "Devastator" and "Exterminator Aeternum". All ships had the red and black flag of Solar Communes, which was a somewhat isolationist civilization to actually draw much attention.

After blowing their way through the Warp for an unknown amount of time the collective mind, powered by hundreds of psykers as their bodies stood robotically awaiting the orders from the collective and a psychic shield blocked Chaos from mutating them, they finally were about to reach their destination as the psychic signatures hinted that they were about to land at the planet they were destined to destroy for the survival of mankind. The event horizon became visible in that segment of the chaotic realm, which would bring them back to the physical universe. The fleet finally warped back to what the single consciousness hoped to be its actual destination.

Milky Way, Ultramar System, Unknown Time

There is no way to predict whether the Warp also served as some type of time machine during their travel or not during all that time as time itself is twisted and unpredictable inside that realm they known as the Shadow. Not even a second or hundreds and even thousands of years could have passed in the physical universe while they were inside the Warp. There was no way to know besides managing to return to their home system.

The large fleet, for Solar Communes standards, jumped back to the physical universe as the scanners started to analyze the star of the solar system they currently were at. For the surprise of the singular consciousness which still did not end itself to return to the crew their individual selves, the scanners pointed the star they were at was not that they were destined to arrive. Not only that, but also the detection of a possibly inhabited planet and several space stations, certainly of human origin from their readouts. It is difficult to comprehend what a single awareness formed by thousands of united human minds think, but it apparently was surprised by such event, the Warp has leaded them to the wrong place. And somehow it was expected their presence would not happen to be unnoticed by those humans. They were traveling at about 4,000 kilometers per second and at a dozen of astronomical units away from the planet ahead, and the Unity simply awaited for the answer from those unknown humans when the unified AI networks announced to the group mind directly through the Brain-Computer Interfaces rather than through speakers:

"Heuristics analysis over cultural influences on visual and heat signatures of detected facilities indicate high probability of totalitarian, theocratic and/or Orwellian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orwellian) civilization, extreme caution advised on further contact"

Their fleet continued moving as the vectored flight of all of them was adjusted away from that planet direction, as commanded by the Unity to the Artificial Intelligences, because approaching it would be foolish and someone was about to meet them.

Macragge a beautiful world and the home of the mighty Ultramarines Legion. Here the Fortress of Hera still stood and the mighty fortifications of the world presented a difficult challenge for any that would approach. The fourth company had been left on Macragge along with the ninth company for support and defense of the realm of Ultramar. Captain Jal breathed in the majesty of the high mountains of Macragge as he stared at the beautiful sunset on the horizon. Stepping away from the ornate balcony his mighty blue armor shimmered in the sunlight's dying rays. His power sword was hanging freely off of his right hip, it's ornately decorated hilt was a deep blue with gold filigree and the pommel was fashioned in the shape of the aquilla. Opposite his power sword his bolt pistol was holstered, it's ornate ebony form glinting like a jewel in the artificial lighting inside his chambers.

Sitting back in a large cushioned chair he began his breathing exercises, "How I wish I could battle alongside my brothers.....but my lord gave us the responsibility of guarding great Ultramar." Even now he could somehow feel his brother’s anxiety and anger as they fought the threat of the Republic underneath the great dome of the Mechanicum citadel, Greconum. He could imagine the bulwarks of the keep manned by the shimmering blue armor of the Ultramarines and the gold of the Imperial Fists while their gleaming bolters raining holy fire on their enemies. He began to drift into a trance when an alarm startled him to full alertness. Grabbing his ornate helm and seating it on his head he charged to the vox board in his quarters, “Status report!?” A voice returned crackling over the voxcaster, “An unknown strike force of starships are inbound. Vessels are not of any known type to include Republican battleships.” Jal eyed the sensor readings carefully and said, “Ready my battle barge. Alert the fourth company to accompany me and have the ninth company on standby for planetary defense. We shall be disembarking shortly.”

Moments later Jal was aboard the battle barge Pondus Omnium readying his strike force. Ten Emperor-class Battleships, three Strike Cruisers, the Pondus Omnium, and a number of Frigates were in a standard Codex attack formation. Stepping forward on his bridge he watched as the enemy ships began to close in his battleplate gleaming in the artificial light. Linking his voxcaster to the ships vox systems he sent a message,

I am Captain Jal commander of the fourth company of the VII Legion, the Ultramarines, and you are intruding on Imperial space. State your identity and stand down your ships.

At the same time the message arrived, each of the visible ships kept their weapon systems retracted inside their hulls and started to used their vectored thrust to friendly move above and to the left away from the attack formation, and away from the solar system in question. A while before the Unity decided to separate the pilot of the flagship from the collective consciousness.

For him it was like awakening from sleep. He ceased to exist as a individual self-aware being for a while and now was back. He was human, but bio-engineered to adapt to the space habitat and low gravity. He had a black wavy and short hair, his eyes were almost entirely solid blue due to a nanite augmentation on his vision, his skin was almost albino in paleness and a few metallic colored augmentations were visible below it, he had half of the body mass of a normal human and 1.60 meters of height. While most of his body had cybernetic and nanite modifications comparable to those of an Imperium's Adeptus Mechanicus, or perhaps even beyond, they blended better with his appearance and were mostly unnoticeable except for the most superficial ones. He mentally asked to the still existing Unity as his vision was not the sight of his eyes, but of the sensors of the carrier which were directly linked to his mind, the large, potentially hostile fleet was visible as the titanic Emperor class battleships were sighted.

He wore a black colored, fitting rather than clumsy, advanced power armor (http://static.highend3d.com/galleryimages/700/screen.jpg), although he did not wear a helmet, and to his sides an ordered group of 37 crew members who operated the bridge was, and their unbelievably uniform behavior gave away the fact they were bodies controlled by a single consciousness for now rather than individuals, he sat down on a large command chair, although the bridge had no screens, computers or any type of interface due to the fact they interfaced directly with the computers of the ship through their minds and piloted it with them.

I am Captain Jal commander of the fourth company of the VII Legion, the Ultramarines, and you are intruding on Imperial space. State your identity and stand down your ships.

"Unity, how should I reply?", he asked

"Pretend you are the commander of the fleet, I will pretend the crew is highly disciplined to the point of being mindless drones following orders blindly. Open a holographic channel with them, I will put us in a position to facilitate retreat if necessary."

Soon an holographic image came to Dratheria's flagship, where a group of humans, some of thin and others of normal body mass, appeared sitting down in a row of seats in a grey metallic bridge on both floors, walls and ceilings as behind them a group of two Space Guards wearing black and red power armors stood in a silent vigilance of a large, three meters tall door like if they were two statues rather than human beings. In the center of the holographic video was the pilot of the Xenodiplomat, dressed in a small, compact and black power armor as he spoke. Perhaps the possibility of ending in a parallel universe could be considered as well for all that happened.

"This is the Xenocide Operation. I am Cecil Franz, commander of the first Xenocide Fleet, this fleet. It was intended to head towards an entirely different system where I would command the destruction of an alien infested planet, but the chaos of the Shadow we came through has randomly brought my fleet to your territory instead. I apologize for the inconvenience and accidental intrusion over your territory, but the more time I remain here larger the alien threat will become to mankind, and time is short to detain them."

In space the Pondus Omnium hung as a brilliant blue star dwarfing even the Emperor-class battleships here bombardment cannon poised to strike at the enemy. Onboard Captain Jal was a little shocked by the hologram at first but passing his gauntlet through it remembered that some human races chose to communicate like this. He cautiously looked around the bridge some of the crew were also minorly disturbed by this occurance. He silently thought to himself, Perhaps this Shadow they speak of is the Warp....yes it would make sense since their sensors detected a Warp jump. Relaxing they continued to their duties and Jal turned his eyes back to the hologram speaking again,

This Shadow you speak of is known as the Warp and it is not surprising that you were blown off course considering our scans show you have no Navigators or even a Warp beacon. You will halt your progression immediately. I care not for this Xenos threat we are in a time of war and as such you will not continue until we allow you to. You should know that my ship the Pondus Omnium has the ability to destroy a xenos world far easier than yours and can easily make up for any delays you will make. So come to my vessel we have much to discuss including how your people manage to travel the Warp without the use of a Gellar Field.

"Heuristics analysis indicates 0.005% of chances of successful retreat. Recommended course of action: comply with request and be avoid telling more than what they ask. If they try to 'extract' information which might be threatening to the sovereignty of the Confederation, nanite suicide and self-destruction are advisable. Meaning of the term Gellar Field unknown but possibly some form of psychic protection technology"

The unified artificial intelligence announced mentally to both Cecil and to the Unity regarding their chances as the fleet started to decelerate at 1g delta-V. The nanite plug which connected his mind to the ship navigation systems was disconnected as his brain began to receive input from his own sense rather than from the carrier. The starship finally stopped its vectorial acceleration which pushed his back against the seat as the seat belts were automatically unfastened from it. Its artificial gravity was only of 0.3g, the limit of gravity a space human could support without power armor, and this reflected in everything. Each step required the struggle of moving a finger as he did not felt any physical force from his own muscles. Cecil took a quick look at the two Space Guards, limbs of the Unity as he requested:

"Unity, separate them as individuals again"

Soon the two Space Guards wearing full Type XIV Advanced Power Armor (http://www.nettkringkasting.no/~3ddesign/Sindre/Semesteroppgave/armorsketch.jpg), which was colored in black and red and beared the symbol of Solar Communes on their left shoulders, looked at him and asked, although their armor made it impossible to identify their genders, it was obvious they were a man and a woman respectively as Cecil knew them before. Juan Fender and Ilana Asturias, they talked among themselves in their peculiar language known as Communs or Comuns:

"Comrade Cecil, did something happen?", she asked
"Yes, damn Shadow brought us to the mouth of fascism. But we must avoid at all costs giving away any hints about our political position, make it very obscure and use doublespeak. Do you understand?"
"Yes, we do. It is our lives that are at stake and the fate of Solar Communes as well and we cannot and shall not give away what they must not know.", both spoke in a way that gave the impression they shared their thoughts among themselves before replying. In Solar Communes most people could literally share their thoughts without use of spoken or written word, as most accept the implants of the infolinks, nanotechnological devices which allowed them to connected their brains into Neural Networks.

"Yes, now you both Ilana and Juan, try to make it seem I have a position of authority, do you understand?"

"Yes, sir!", both said, perhaps with a smile hidden by their helmets as the group headed to one of the flight decks. They walked to the corridors and went down a dozen of decks below and further to the carrier's aft where the massive flight decks were located. It was a large area, with a huge concave wall to the left and an equally concave docking port which was locked. Through it six space superiority corvettes were docked, one above other and floating due to the complete lack of gravity in the flight decks. They used the guard rails of a mobile docking platform to reach the large space corvette docked there from below it, as a landing gear opened and they entered inside, heading to its bridge. A group of 40 additional Space Guards was inside the "fighter", distributed among its decks.

"Magnetic safety lock disengaged, opening flight deck bay.", it was announced as the massive wall started to split in two in a seamless way, revealing the outer space to the left of the carrier as the 364 meters wide and 150 meters long "fighter" was launched towards outer space at an 1g constant acceleration. At the same time A new transmission, only voiced, came from the fighter:

"This is commander Cecil Franz, requesting permission and coordinates to dock with Pondus Omnium."

Cecil had his gauss pistol holstered, while the space guards were equipped with C502 6mm EC gauss guns and with a pair of brain computer interface operated mini rocket pods on their shoulders, currently inactive. They headed towards the largest starship to contact that new civilization, and talk their way out of "ideological differences"
