The war had gone quiet all of a sudden.Ibrahim Mussawir, president of the imperial socialist republic of Mhoudia, had stopped his genocide of mhoudian christians after the wahabist Dar ul Ummah militia sprung up in the various refugee camps that had been made after Mussawir ordered the destruction of the ancient capital Mhoud in a scorched earth tactic.

after one year of intense fighting, Mussawir was caught and dissembowled on live TV a month ago.

They have vowed to rebuild the capital Mhoud. miraculously, the 15th century Golden Mosque of Mhoud was untouched by the fires.

However, despite the qur'an forbiding it, the DUU government has sent 500,000 militia to the southwestern christian region to:
"kill everyone and everyone. rape the children if you want. take what you want. these christians who believe in the unholy trinity and have a god our prophet issah are worthless. You may beat the Jews, but do not kill them. they have done no such blasphemy, or to a lesser extent anyway."

The DUU has obtained large quantities of napalm to bomb the Christian region, which lies in the southwest corner of Mhoudia, bordering Zanski.

the two sects had been fighting eachother for control of the town, which was run by the christian rebel group saint johns army, which had also seen internal fighting. five hundred had died since the last call for genocide ended as a result of this. nevertheless, in the face of a larger enemy, the two have agreed on a cease fire.

In the rather large Varde Strategic Aviation Aerodrome outside the city of Varde in Cotland's southern region, a squadron of sixteen Blackburn Blackadder MSE.2 strategic bombers, newly delivered from the factory in Questers were being prepared for a long-range strike mission. Their target: the leadership of Mhoudia.

For this purpose, each Blackadder bomber was fitted with six LBM.20C Imsdal hypersonic strike missiles, making for a total of ninety-six missiles being used in this sortie.

The Imsdal missile was a 6.5 meter long hypersonic missile weighing some 1 680 kilograms, of which some 317.5 kilograms were dedicated to the BROACH warhead it carried. Capable of travelling up to 1 300 kilometers at a cruising speed of Mach 3 and a cruising altitude of 25 900 meters, the missile would enter a steep dive once it reached its target and increase to its terminal speed of Mach 7, making it nearly impossible to intercept unless the enemy had some pretty damned good air defense systems. Even then, the kinetic energy the missile would generate when it hit would be more than sufficient to destroy whatever it hit. The Imsdal had been the Realm's primary strike missile for several years, and had yet to disappoint.

The sixteen Blackadders were joined by the squadron's two Blackadder MSE.2R refueling aircraft, increasing their range by several hundred kilometers, adding to the already great range of the bomber. They would travel to a point twelve hundred kilometers off the Mhoudian capital of Mhoud and fire their missile load at the Mhoudian leadership's last known positions and suspected positions. These included the Presidential Palace (or its equivalent), the various ministries, and finally the Golden Mosque of Mhoud. The purpose for the latter being a target was two-fold. Firstly, this was a religiously-powered operation - the Cottish were for the most part devout Christians - that the Christian populace and leadership demanded, and secondly, it was done for the lulz.

The Blackadders climbed to the cruising altitude of eleven thousand meters for the best possible fuel economy and assembled into formation before making the long trek for Mhoudia, cruising along at just over Mach 1.2. In a few hours, they would release their payload and return for home again, leaving the Imsdals to do their dirty deed.

In the War Room back home, the Brother-Captain turned to his personal assistant, a lowly Brother-Marine whose job rarely involved more than running errands. "You think they'll understand this time?" The Brother-Marine hadn't been paying attention, and it took a casual slap to the back of the head before he tuned in, hurrying after the Brother-Captain as Ellingsen strode through the halls.

"Yes, sir?" he ventured, not sure if it was a rhetorical question or if he were supposed to answer.

"Then you're an idiot," came the blunt response. "My money says that TPF already have their eye on expanding into that land. It may actually be worth letting the Air Force know what's going on, they may be called in to assist." Ellingsen stopped abruptly, holding out his hand for his ceremonial sword and looking over his shoulder at the Brother-Marine. "In fact...yes. Find a member of Brother-Captain Harding's staff, inform them that Brother-Captain Ellingsen has requested they keep an eye on the Mhoudian situation."

"Right away, sir," replied the Brother-Marine, snapping off a stiff salute before turning on his heel. Ellingsen watched him go for a moment, silently questioning the wisdom of the Brother-General in letting men and women of such young age become soldiers. In his eyes, soldiering was as much about life experience as it was mere training, but to Cowell, the Armed Forces as a whole could never be too large; indeed, there were times when it was darkly muttered that he would only be satisfied once the entire population were willing to stand and go to war.

Cotland
After a quick re-evaluation of the situation, it was determined that a limited aerial strike along would probably be insufficient to stop the attack made upon the True Belivers (Christians). Therefore, the King himself ordered that a ground force be deployed to Mhoudia to stop the infidels (Islamists) from slaughtering the True Believers. After all, the Cottish King didn't carry the title of "Protector of the Faith" for nothing.

So, while the six Mechanized Rifle Divisions in the Royal Cottish Army with the highest state of readiness, each consisting of 14 335 soldiers when fully staffed, received orders to move to the docks at once for transport to Mhoudia with their equipment and enough supplies for sustained warfare, three full Parachute Divisions of 12 514 elite soldiers received similar orders, only that they were to report to their respective Aerodromes for aerial transport.

In the aerodromes, the Parachute Division's equipment were carefully equipped with their parachute rigging and manouvered into the lumbering T-31A Kondor strategic transports while parachute infantrymen boarded the smaller T-35A Tulassa tactical transport aircraft, combat ready and highly motivated after being told that they were going on a peace-establishing mission where they were to stop infidel Islamists from brutally murdering innocent Christians.

Some 1 000 kilometers off Mhoudia
While the Paras were busy preparing for the impending combat drop - the first since 1942 - the Royal Cottish Navy would get to join the party as well. Cottish reconnaissance satellites belonging to the Royal Cottish Space Force had already repositioned several satellites to cover Mhoudia and started mapping the positions of the Mhoudian military for the opening strikes that would pave the way for the Air Force.

However, now it was time for the Royal Cottish Navy, or more precisely its Naval Aviation, to get to work. Two Carrier Battle Groups with a total of six fleet carriers and more than six hundred and sixty aircraft of various types were being redirected by the High Command and ordered to get to positions off Mhoudia to support the Cottish military intervention, codenamed Operasjon Våken Løve.

The battle groups were well off Mhoudian territorial waters in international waters, but were operating on increased readiness. ASW operations were constant, with Merlin ASW helicopters moving around all around the fleet, dropping their dipping SONARs and listening to hear if any uninvited submarines were in the area. ASW frigates were doing the exact same thing from the surface.

AAW destroyers and the cruisers were pumping a lot of watts into the air around the carriers, keeping a keen eye on any aerial contacts in the area. If someone strayed too close, they'd quickly find a pair of J-21B Typhoon advanced air superiority fighters on their tail, telling them to shove off or face the consequences. If that didn't work, the Typhoons or the escort ships would simply shoot down the hostile aircraft. The boundaries were simple. Come within 300 kilometers of the groups, and the Typhoons on CAP would be on you. Come within 200, and you'd get shot down.

The Cottish plan was simple. When the transport aircraft carrying the Paras started taking off, the carriers would start deploying fighters with orders to seek out and destroy the Mhoudian air defenses and any aircraft the Islamists might get on the wings.

The overall fleet commander didn't expect the Mhoudians to be able to put up much of a fight, but he'd wait passing judgment before he had more intelligence information from the satellite passes and the first aircraft sorties started.

H-hour was fast approaching.

Reconnaissance satellite support provided by the Royal Cottish Space Force
Mechanized Rifle troops are being transported in transport vessels belonging to the Royal Cottish Merchant Marine.
Until airbases can be secured/established, the Air Force transports, fighter-bombers, air superiority fighters and to some extent the multirole fighters and command aircraft will be the only ones deployed. Zanski has met with the head of Saint John's Army who is in exile in the city of Kos'shmara, and donated fifty artillery, seven hundred RPG launchers, seven thousand RPGs, a thousand Kalashnikovs, and has authorised a pre-emptive strike against TPF if a single troop gets to Mhoudia.
we also will start to fire GPS-guided rockets if the DUU fires one more at Yahyabad. a full incursion cannot be done just yet as we have matters to attend to in our colony of Tur Kalavar.

Harun and Issa sat on the roof of their church, observing the artilleries on the hills to the north and to the south, the northern ones being the DUU's and the Southern ones being Zanski's.
every few seconds an explosion would come from the northern hills, which was Zanski attacking the DUU and then one would come from the north and either hit their city or the Zansk hills. A collumn of mhoudians coming from exile in zanski had informed Saint Johns Army that a third foreign force was coming, not for their salvation, but to steal them away.

this force was known only as The Peoplesfreedom.
Harun and Issa were in Saint Johns Army. All soldiers had taken an oath that death is better than their country. TPF had been placed in the list of enemies.
Apparently this foreign army considered them its citizens.
Issa remembered sitting down in his house, listening to the radio when the news of TPF came on. his uncle had said "if those unknown people-theifs take me away from our two-millenia old homeland, I'll kill all of them if only to be sent back here."

Issa and Harun couldn't agree more.
'Better Death than Foreign Lands' was a greeting used in Yahyabad. however, part of Zanski was inhabited by Christans, therefore it wasn't a foreign land. Also, Zanski had aided the Christians in the days of general al-Majid and his Homeland Liberation Front. Weapons and money had been sent in, and so they were opressed. When al-Majid died, the Imperial Socialist Council had killed about 80,000 christians, attracting much foreign attention.
But then the second Mhoudian Civil War broke out and the Dar ul Ummah movement had promised the Christians the protected Dhimmi status, as sanctioned in the Qur'an. but after they gained power, the genocide began again.

Although no mention of military involvement arose, President Kahn announced that he would bring legislation before Parliament to offer asylum to any Mhoudian Christians wishing to flee the country, and that the government would set aside fifty million Kalbeki Dollars in aid for the Mhoudian Christian community once the fighting had subsided.

The upcoming invasion of Mhoudia was the big topic in the High Command, and the plans were ambitious. Almost a hundred thousand ground troops would be put on the ground to stop the Islamist heathens and ensure that the Mhoudians didn't try anything stupid against the Christians in their country again. Unfortunately, the Cottish knew very little about the Mhoudians and expected them to have at least something resembling a modern army. Therefore, what they found out when the intelligence services submitted their hastily gathered report was a big surprise for the generals responsible for the planning. It turned out that the Mhoudians had been subjected to the wrath of the international community just a few months ago, a conflict which had originated in the destruction of whatever had existed of organized military forces, leaving the Mhoudians with nothing but a ragtag group of poorly equipped and untrained insurgents. It was becoming very clear to the generals that they were about to attempt to kill a mosquito with a 400mm Adolf Gun. Therefore, a new set of orders were being dispatched to the units in question and to some other units.

A revised order of battle was being quickly compiled, one which called for the majority of the forces called up to stand down. The Mechanized Rifle Divisions had barely reached the docks where they would onload their vehicles, men and supplies on the merchant vessels when new orders arrived, ordering them to put their stuff back on the troop trains and return to their billets, along with two of the three Parachute Divisions. Only the 2. Parachute Division would be deployed to Mhoudia with 12 514 Paras, a drastic reduction from the 100 000-man figure operated with earlier. Several of the Air Force units were also going to stand down, but in return the Strategic Aviation Command would get more to do. Several of its Heavy Bomber Wings, equipped with the mighty B 22 Candrian heavy bombers, and several of the Blackadder-equipped Bomber Wings would be used instead. The Navy's Carrier Battle Groups already on station would still be used, as would the Guided Missile Submarine Group, but the rest were being demobilized.

From involving several hundred thousand men and women, Operasjon Våken Løve would now entail a mere seventy thousand men and women, most of them bomber pilots. A new deadline was also issued, with the opening strikes now set to take place roughly four hours before the TFPian troops were to land in Mhoudia.

Operation: Safeguard
The rebels had not yet responded to the governments plea for help in finding and landing at an airport. TPF could only assume that the rebels were dead or the message had been received. They could not afford to wait any longer to help these people, they needed to act quickly, and the fleet was still three days away. The unfortunate problem was that they had no airport to deliver troops quickly, thus the government would need to find a different plan. So the government decided to deploy two airborne divisions in order to form a line of defense along the main axis of thrust from the enemy militia. Only 20,000 troops would be deployed, but they would last until the fleet with the main army arrived to stabilize the situation.

Over 800 transport aircraft alone were loading with troops and vehicles for the paradrop which would be one of the largest since the TPFian civil war more than fifteen years ago. These aircraft were supported by two hundred ASF-70 fighters, as well as Red Robin AWACS aircraft as well as Safeguard EW aircraft and tankers. They had taken more than eighteen hours to arrive, and they were ready to drop.

" Everybody up! Let's go! Jump in two minutes!" Yelled the crew chief. Captain Murray took a deep breathe, it was his first ever jump as a paratrooper, as part of the 22nd Marine Raiders Battalion. They were the only Marine unit dropping with the two army divisions, and they were determined to show their strength. It was Murray's first combat operation since the NPC operation, and he was just as nervous. His legs were jellow, but he hoped that they would move when he told them too. The light turned from red to yellow and then green, and it wasn't long before Murray was up at the doorway. He jumped into the freezing night, away from the large jet engines and his cheeks were assailed by the frozen wind. He could see the parachutes below him in the full moon as well s the flares that the pathfinders had set up to mark the landing zones. Finally, he landed hard, but it was successful.

Murray watched as one of the transports swept low over the ground, dropping out of his ramp a huge Leopard IFV. It was surrounded by a wooden plank, and soon five large parachutes deployed. But it seemed that these had little effect in slowing the metal hulk down. Soon, however, retrorockets deployed, and their red and orange exhaust lit up the area. The Leopard landed safely, and soon the crews ran to man it. This was happening with other Leopards as well as Fox transports and VAM armored cars, as well as howitzers. Murray then ordered his company to begin moving towards a village about 2 klicks away, they could hear gun and artillery fire in the distance.

As the second phase of Operation: Rightful Homeland, Zanski has just sent a column of 700,000 men over the border. They will reach Yahyabad tomorrow and will proceed to fend off the agressors of the Christians, which include Mhoudia and Thepeoplesfreedom. We hope that TPF know that they are just as bad as he muslims in uprooting a people from their two millenia-year old homeland.

Mr. Sover had sounded more than a little irritated. He hoped it wasn't him that the man was irritated with. The Prime Minister strode into the room where the nervous former-dictator stood. General Grimmeberger was really lucky he wasn't executed during the bloodless confrontation that forced him from power.
"Hello, Steven," Sover said briskly as he walked in. "Sit down, sit down."

Recognition sparked in Grimmeberger's brain. He had declared war on Mhoudia when he had been head of state. They had been murdering Christians, or something like that...

General Steven P. Grimmeberger stood in front of the senior leadership of VII Corps and IX Corps, on board the NRS Signifer, feeling fully alive again for the first time in a year and a half. It was his mission to debrief them about the mission they were soon to embark on in Mhoudia.
"As you are all probably familiar with Mhoudia, I have a feeling you know what is going on over there. Am I correct?"

"Yup."
"You'd think what happened the last time they did that would have served as sufficient deterrant not to do it again."
"Well, I think they'll see reason this time. And if not, we can just have any of the buggers who attacks us shot. Nothing complicated."
"Where will we land, sir?"
"As close to Yahyabad as possible, and then ask what they want us to do to help defend. Probably just set up a defensive cordone around the city and repel any militia that attempt to attack the city. If the Mhoudians attack us, we return the favor and let the Screech Owls get them. Fairly simple. But the militia probably won't attack us. They're not that fanatical. At least I hope not. If all else fails, we can withdraw to the transports under cover fire from the destroyers, the Signifer and the Schiltrum, and the fighter squadrons. Anything else?"
"No sir." They replied in unison. Commander Jorgeson, Commander DuPont, and Rear Admiral Walthers, among Grimmeberger's trusted commanders. He was glad to have them back.

The flight had been a long one, and he had a flight just as long ahead of him back to the home base, but Major Karsteinssønn didn't really care about that at this particular moment in time. He had a mission to accomplish.

"Bombardier, talk to me."

"We're almost there sir. Recommend we open bomb bay doors." The young voice replied from behind the Major.

"Opening bomb bay doors." Karsteinssønn replied automatically as he pressed a button on the centerline console.

Underneath the belly of the monsterous B-22B Candrian (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=530912) heavy strategic bomber, three sets of bomb bay doors smoothly opened to reveal the frigid atmosphere outside the aircraft to the payload carried within. It was almost showtime.

The Candrian heavy bomber was just one in a formation of sixteen, flying steadily at twenty thousand meters at Mach 0.7, well out of reach of any surface to air systems it was likely that the enemy possessed, and were about to commence the first live large-scale bombing run the Royal Cottish Air Force had commenced in almost forty years.

The sixteen planes carrying full bomb payloads were about to lay waste to the area around Yahyabad, where the intelligence sources had determined that a large enemy force had assembled. From the looks of it, most of the enemy force consisted of light infantry, something which made this even easier.

"Steady... steady... steady... Now!"

Karsteinssønn immediately pressed the correct button, starting the pre-programmed release sequence. From the three bomb bays each Candrian was equipped with, deadly bombs started raining onto the ground sixteen kilometers below.

The Cottish had decided that it would be unwise to employ weapons of mass destruction in this particular campaign, so they had opted for the next best thing: A combined unguided bomb and incendiary bomb payload.

The Candrians had been filled to their ghills with bombs, of which one of the bays were loaded with 250-kilogram DB-23B unguided iron bombs, which would detonate when they reached the ground and send out deadly iron shrapnel that could destroy even the best armored vehicles there were. The second and third bomb bay were loaded with 1000-kilogram BB-38D incendiary bombs filled with TH3-Thermite plasma, which would spread out over a rather large area and ignite when it came into contact with the oxygen in the air and start burning at 5 000° Celsius.

Each plane carried one hundred 250-kilogram bombs and eighty incendiary bombs (forty in each bay), making for a staggering total of one thousand six hundred DB-23B iron bombs and one thousand two hundred eighty incendiary bombs being dropped on the enemy outside Yahyabad. An unescapable firestorm would be created that would kill any living thing in a radius of several kilometers.

With the bomb load dropped and fires starting to emerge below, the Candrians climbed up to seventeen thousand meters and turned around again, starting the return journey home to Cotland (via a short delay to refuel on way) and a well earned shower and good night's sleep.

The enemy infidels would regret ever having laid their hands on the True Believers of the Christian Faith and angering the Realm of Cotland.
