Where did you come from? (FT - Very open)

NO NEW SIGN-UPS PLEASE!

OOC: Here's the premise. 'Overnight' a huge Asteroid field has appeared. It forms a large 'Wall' which sensors can not penetrate. It is not connected to any particualr place - approaching it will 'pull' into this strange place. You can and go from the area as you please - to start with. Basically, anyone can join in this RP from their own 'space' no matter where they are, as this area inhabits many particular places.

IC: "... and I'm telling you sir, it wasn't there last week!"

"Are you sure Captain?" Came the reply over the comms array, "Is it not possible the Frigate Flagship's sensor's weren't malfunctioning?

"No Admiral. We piloted the Flagship right up to it, so we could have a visual sighting on it! Sir, I demand you bring the MCD Jury and see for yourself!"

"You are in no position to demand anything Captain! Know your place!" Rebuked Admiral Clark

"Sorry sir." Came the timid reply from the Flagship

"Having said that, very well. Take me to your discovery - but should you be mistaken, you shall be disiplined for wasting my time."

"Aye, sir!'

Captain Gear closed the communications channel, relieved. The events of the last few hours were the strangest have had ever known. He was patrolling his sector of space in his frigate, as normal. Suddenly he encountered 'it'. A huge asteroid belt - so large a planet could be on the inside. In fact, it was theroised there was one, because the asteroids appear to orbit something big.

'Enter maxium Hyperspace - you know are destination' Captain Pole

'Yes sir.' Came the response.

The Scavenger class battleship " Odyssey" suddenly appeard in the strange place, not knowing how it had got there. It picked up the vessel on sensors.

Seconds later, the Frigate Flagship and Mole Class Destroyer Jury existed hyperspace.

"There you see Admiral! A huge asteroid field has appeared out of nowhere!"

"Yes, thank you Captain, I can see it. Wait, what's that?"

The two ships had suddenly detected the Odyssey on their sensors

"How did they get there?"

The Admiral flicked a few buttons to send an open channeled messege

"Unidentified Vessel, this is Mole Class Destroyer Jury. You have violated Mole Space. Identify yourself immediately and state your intentions."

The Doomknight, one of Warhaven's more powerful Warships, certainly not its most powerful but still a very serious threat.

At the moment, it was cruising The Great Andromedian Crystaline Asteroid Field, minding its own business, more or less.

"Captain Tiller, I'm not quite sure how to explain this, but, there's a new Asteroid field intermingling with the Crystal field. This one does not appear to be comprised of Crystals. Its like it just appeared overnight. It was not here two weeks ago, Archived scans confirm that much." said a young lady at the con.

"Interesting." was all the captain said.
Privately he wondered if they should go explore it or not. He wanted to, having always desired to be an explorer since birth, but there was the rest of the crew, and how would he justify this to the Military Activities Board, The Doomknight was not just some civilian ship that could go wandering off on its own whenever it pleased.
"Captain?" asked the same young lady.
the captain made a decision. One he was almost certain he would have to pay for later.
"Take us into this new field. Certainly as members of the Warhaven Military, it is our duty to be alert for new threats to the Empire. Let us take an initial investigation into this new field, and then alert the Department of Scientific Inquiry." The Captain said.

As the Doomknight turned into the Field, The Captain sat forward.

"Yellow Alert." The Captain said, sending all essential personel to their stations, and enabling the engines to spread the Distortion shield over the ship.

As it sailed slowly, cautiously through the field, observers would see it flickering, as though it were a hologram with a faulty projector. This was simply the effect of the Distortion shield, which phased the ship in and out of being.

The Distortion Shield wasn't really a shield, so much as it was an area of effect that happened to encompass only the the same area as the ship itself. To one inside the ship, everything appeared normal, to those outside, the ship faded in and out of being sporadicly, never entirely disappearing, never entirely being there. It was like watching a great mutitude of ripples collide on a pond, and when someone attacked, this phasing in and out of being allowed some attacks to simply pass through the ship without so much as touching it.

Rippling, The Doomknight rolled through the field, until it came upon the other three ships.
"Full stop, we don't want to alarm them into firing unduly, what if there's some sort of a giant space monster that set this up as a trap to eat us?" The captain said, recalling his favorite childhood fairytale about the brave crew of a ship that does run accross such a monster.

"Greetings my name is Captain Roto Tiller, perhaps we got lost, perhaps we didn't, maybe there's something strange happening, maybe not, but this Asteroid field just suddenly appeared out of nowhere next to our own, and we thought to come take a look at it. Do you happen to know where it came from?" The captain asked, hoping that maybe someone could tell him why this asteroid field suddenly occupied an area so close to his home territory.

With the Jury occupied, it was left to the Flagship to investigate the newcomers

'Captain... This ship... it is... disappearing, and then re -appearing?'

"Like a ghost ship?"

'No sir. It's there, some sort of energy field appears to be affecting the space around it... Sensors are trying to get a lock on it and are currently failing.'

The captain thought for a bit. A minute had passed since the hail. He dare not leave to much of a gap, but until he knew what exactly he was dealing with, he would say nothing.

"I want you to try your best to adapt the sensors - see if you can at least produce a semi-lock on it"

'Aye Captain!'

"Also, work on a possible jamming method on this energy field!"

'Yes sir!'

With his crew now occupied, and the sensors and computers in overdrive to process the incoming data, Captain Gear now opened a channel to the alien vessel

"Attention Captain Roto Tiller! Your ship has not only breached the frontier of Mole Space, but also travelled many lightyears into it! Stand down your energy field and state your attentions immediately!"

"Molespace, Lightyears? No, we came only a few short lightyears out of The Great Andromedian Crystaline Asteroid Field, we discovered a brand new Asteroid field next to it that wasn't there last week, and decided to investigate the strange occurance. However, let us say for the moment, that we are both right. We came from our space, you came from yours. I've read stories of many strange happenings in space, but never thought I would encounter such a strange happening myself.

If that is true, then all four ships have come to be caught in something new, and should leave assumptions of my space and your space out of the equation. Perhaps a large pocket in space has formed, that drew us all here, if that is the case, then ceretainly it is no one's space, for we have no way of defining exactly where here is.

In the intrests of peace I will drop The Distortion Shield, and suggust we work together in the intrests of science. I certainly don't know where this field came from, or how it came to be here, and certainly we shouldn't start a fight here, least something undesirable happen." Captain Tiller said.

After the transmission, one last great wave of energy swept through the ship, and suddenly it was all there. It strongly resembled a Star Destroyer, but was sleeker, as though the design had been compressed. There was no tower, and some said it looked like an Arrow head from the days when bows and arrows were used.

Now that the Doomknight was claerly visible, the Captain Gulped.

"Halt!" he cried out. The Flagship came to a rapid halt.

From the Doomknight it would appear as though they were scared - almost as though two street fighters were squaring up to each other, and one of them sudden produced a gun!

The Flagship had a good reason to be cautious. The Doomknight was much bigger than the best attempts at scanning appeared to suggest, it completely dwarfed the Flagship

Eventually, Captain Gear retained his nerve

"Your 'explanation' is impossible. I came here - left and came back! This is not some pocket of space I assure you. I'll prove it to you! I'll leave sensor range, turn around and come back"

With that, the frigate charged up its hyperdrive engines and zoomed off, far into the distance. Moments later it did return - but from the opposite direction the one it left in. The result of such a strange occurance was utter confusement.

'Sir... We are back where we started... but we never turned round!'

"How can that be!"

OOC: That had to have been one incredibly good guess on my part.:)

"It would appear, as I said earlier, that there is something unusual going on here. I assure you I don't often go wandering into other people's sovereign territories without an invite." Captain Tiller said. He was glad he wasn't as quick to fight as some of his fellow captains. He had a pretty level head on his shoulders, and usually looked for more peaceful solutions first. He wasn't a coward, he just didn't like jumping straight to the fight. It was probably why he had been given such a high position.

Meanwhile, the ship began a full scan of the area, picking up whatever it possibly could, hoping to find another piece of the strange puzzle they were in.

" What the fuck? Where are we? Scanners! Now! "

The plate type 9 known as the " Sondre " came into view. Being nearly 9 miles long and being a plate ship, it was one of the most formidable ships in the known universe. Able to blow a planet to bits in one shot. The pride and joy of the ECF navy, was LOST in some strange area of space.

The captain was freaking out completely, for he had NO Idea where he was and he just heard a very frightening transmission to another ship in the area.

" Opps, what do you have on sensors? "

The incredibly complex sensor net gave an entire view of what was going on.

" Sir that ship is threatening a much less defended vessel, asking for surrender "

" Red Alert! Shielding systems online now! And get me a scan of that aggressive ship! "

" Scan complete captain, low yeild partical weapons and limited sheilding when compared to our vessel, we can defeat them, and need I remind you, our emitter grids ( top and bottom ) can fire any kind of arc we need them to! "

" Lock weapons on that ship and hail them "

The massive ship turned on its side, leaving 7 miles of emitter pad pointing straight at the enemy.

" Do not fire on that vessel, or you will be destroyed. We can all work out where we are peacefully. "

The sister ships Flame of the AEsir and Light of the Vanir cruised through the asteroid belt of the Solar System. Classified as corvette/frigates, they were the newest Asgard-class ships of the Commonwealth's Space Defense Force; the Spacy. This was the Vanir's shakedown cruise, having just been commissioned for service a month before.

Inside the combined bridge/CIC, the ladar operator, 1PO* Marcus Calder became alert. There seemed to be a new asteroid belt off of the ship's port bow. But how was that possible?

"TAO, I've got an unidentified formation, bearing 320-020," Calder announced.

"An unidentified formation, within the system?" Lt. James Fuller asked. "Check your instruments," he instructed, "Comm, raise the AEsir. See if they detect it too."

FSS Flame of the AEsir

Inside her office, Commander Murrue Ramius** sifted through the results of the previous week's weapons drills. She was still proud that her crew was still the better of the two, but the Vanir's personnel seemed to be getting the hang of space warfare. The comm. console on her desk chirped, and she switched it on.

"Ramius," she answered.

"Captain, we have a situation. An unidentified asteroid formation has appeared," reported Lt. Commander Natalie Badgiruel, the XO.

"I'm on my way."

As Ramius made ready to leave her office, she happened to glance out the observation window, which faced portside. She gasped audibly at the strange occurrence thar appeared before her.

Bridge/CIC

"It seems our sensors are ineffective as well," Ramius said. In front of her, the floating flatscreen image of Commander Christopher Howell, the Vanir's Captain, nodded in agreement.

"Our probes have also proved to be ineffective. Upon reaching the demarcation line, all telemetric data ceases."

"I'll contact Tyr station," Ramius replied, referring to the spacedock orbiting Mars. "We'll await further instructions."

"Captain," Howell replied. "Perhaps we should just bring the ships in. There's been no indication of the probes being destroyed. Perhaps its just a phenomena of the asteroids."

"And if not, we jeapordize the lives of over 400 men and women, not to mention our ships," she answered.

"Captain, we're of equal rank, so you can't necessarily order me. I for one am not willing to sit on our hands as Command decides what to do. We're changing heading. If you want to follow, try to keep up." His transmission suddenly cut, and Ramius looked in silent fury as the blue-white coronas of the Vanir's engines ignited.

"Captain...?" Badgiruel asked from her seat in the CIC.

"Helm, bring us alongside the Vanir. Increase to flank. Try and cut him off!"

"Helm answering, course laid in, increasing to flank speed!" the helmsman replied.

As the ships raced alongside one another, the distance between them and the belt diminished at an incredible rate. It soon became apparent that both ship's velocity would bring them into contact, and Captain Ramius waited for the inevitable.

"Sound collision!" she ordered, the alarm blaring almost before she was done speaking. "All stop!"

The ships suddenly blinked into what appeared to be a foreign area of space. Ladar reported several ships in the vicinity, more than one was several times larger than the pair of Spacy ships.

Captain Tiller looked at the results even as all the other ships entered the strange area. As Bob, The Chief Science Officer, explained the results, he reached an agreement with all the other Aquamarinians to temporarily turn off their Psionic powers, not knowing what having them would do here, and thus they never heard the words of those who had come to spread chaos.

Transmitting to The Flagship alone, Captain Tiller said "Our scans indicate a huge, dense asteroid field that deflects most of our scans. However, it appears to be orbitting a massive body of something. What, we can't be sure." Captain Tiller said.

Then, opening the Transmissions wider, he spoke to everybody in the system.

"Greetings. I am Captain Roto Tiller of The Dark Empire of Warhaven. Now it would seem that what we have here is a case of curiosity that killed that cat. I'm willing to bet most of us, if not all of us, first approached this oddball pocket in space out of a sense of curiosity and a desire to see why it just suddenly appeared out of thin space overnight. I'm sure we've all tried scanning, gods know I have, and most of mine have been deflected, if not simply inneffective.

Now we all have ships, and we're all armed to the teeth, lets not shed blood on what is to us, a new area of space, possibly a new phenominon altogether. Its not right that something so new should be stained with violence.

The Moleland people have already tried leaving, and indeed, succeeded entirely, they left one side of this field, only to suddenly reappear on the otherside, as though this was all the space there was, and it was bonded together like a Moebius Strip, so simply turnging around and leaving is clearly not an option. We should act like the reasonable sentient beings we all claim to be, and work together to figure out first of all, just what this place is, why it is the way it is, and finally, how to get out of here." he said, then ended the transmission.

OOC: I decided to go with medium strength, so as to not be a mr. Know-it-all and leave something for someone else to discover.

"What do you think of this message, Ensign Camandel?" asked Admiral Von Hersching.

"What do I think, sir? I believe that Captain Erkenbrand is a very intelligent commander and did the right thing to alert the fleet, sir." replied Ensign Camandel.

"I agree with you, Camandel. Erkenbrand is one of my trusted officers and cool headed. It's why he has been given command of a mere Picket Class Warship. Pickets do the most important job in the fleet, in my not so humble opinion. Erkenbrand will go far, if he survives long enough, as will you Ensign Camandel." Von Hersching chuckled and suddenly looked very grim and serious, "The next few hours will test the mettle of my crew and that of my officers. Order all guns to arm.

East Coast, its been a few years since we RP'ed together.

The Flagship responded

"Confirmed. That's what our sensors have detected to. We have estimated the density of the belt, and reckon we can force our way through to the inside - I reckon all of the answers are there!"

As yet more 'flys' became stuck to the flypaper, the Jury was left to respond to the newcomers

Greetings. I am Captain Roto Tiller of The Dark Empire of Warhaven. Now it would seem that what we have here is a case of curiosity that killed that cat. The Space Hulk picked up the message, but kept its ponderous advance towards the ship that had just transmitted the message. Suddenly, it stopped, and floated there in space, like it didn't know what to do. It opened up communications with the ship. "I'm listening mortal, but I would like to hear your suggestion at getting out of here." Whispered a voice.

Jack smiled again " Your ship dosnt concern us...it is you and your people, we would like to you know about you, life, and if possible what your worlds are like in person."

The captain smiled " Well, this ship is everything we are, honor, power, war, fighting, and exploration. If you know where the milky way is, we're located billions of lightyears from it. Yourself? "

Back on the bridge...

The computers were running scans on the area of space they were currently trapped inside, the crew couldn't figure out what the fuck was going on.

" Sir, this doesn't make any sense. None of these ships actually register on our list, and from the materials the ships are made of I can tell you they are NOT from our side of this universe. "

The ships highly sophisticated trans dimension sensor net was having trouble figuring out exactly where they were, however they were starting to pick up traces of unstable materials near the borders.

The hail from the newfound ship was heard.

" Hello, we think we know your hull numbers from many many centuries ago. This is ECF Sondre, we do now know where we are or how we got here, standby. "

This is Admiral Von Hersching of the Iter Formator, Commander of the 4th Fleet. I originally had twenty Picket Class Warships. I now only have sixteen. Only one of those warships contacted me before disappearing. Iratus sent me a message encrypted in such a ridiculously high level that I know something is wrong. All what they sent was this message. 'The Terror has appeared. The Terror will kill us all.'. Now I dont know what they meant by this, but I'm fearing the worst. To make matters worse, one of my Picket's has detected a large asteroid field that is not on any of the star maps. In this field they found a ship of the Destroyer Class. Goes by the name of 'Jury'. Attached to this message is pictographs and readings of the 'Jury'. I have sent Ensign Camandel to deal with this problem. I am asking permission to use excessive force if needed and requesting the 7th and 8th Fleets to reinforce my position. Send Admiral O'hare, along with his so called Bridge-Boarders. If I have to resort to boarding actions to sort this mess out, I will.
Better luck next time,

"MCD Jury - This is Frigate Flagship. We have developed a possible escape plan!

"Jury receiving. What is your plan?"

"We theorise that there's a planet in the middle of the asteroid storm. If we can force our way through, we can perhaps find the answers we need."

"How do you intend to get through the asteroids? Fly through them?"

"Pretty much sir. If we bite the bullet, we can make it through to the other size - providing that the belt the size we believce it to be."

"We?"

"Yes sir. The Flagship lacks the sheild strength to make it through. I plan to follow you through - relatively safe in the Jury's wake. The Jury should be fine..."

"I don't like your uncertainties Captain. However, with the absence of any other plan, I guess it's worth a try."

------------

With the communications between the two ships over, The Jury flew at fullspeed towards the asteroid belts - It's Giga laser cannon batteries firing at the asteroids, in an effort to reduce the power of any impacts. The Flagship was following close behind. In a matter of seconds, the Jury would enter the belt...

We've discussed this with the Flagship, and The Jury, and The Flagship came up with the Idea of ramming their way through to the Planet to see if we could find more answers there. If this is true, then we're going to need all the manpower we can get to overcome the field, and any opposing forces that may or maynot exist on the Planet.

I guess to summarise this, if you want to ever get out of this damn place, then follow me to this world. I wouldn't try communicating with each other in the field, its as though the asteroids themselves block communications somehow." Captain Tiller said.

The Jury did not recieve the messege, as power from the communications array had been diverted to the sheilds... not that could hold out of much longer

'Admiral, sheilds holding at 40% - we can't take much more'

"Stay on course Commander - we can't turn back now!"

'Yes admiral'

However, the Flagship did recieve the transmission and decided to begin a response

"This is Frigate Flagship to the Proud Mary. Messege recieved. Your offer of assistance is welcomed, but not useful. Escape is...'

The Captain stopped talking as the Frigate suddenly rocked

"What was that?"

"Sir, the asteroid orbit speed has increased rapidly since our entry - we are no longer entirely protected in the Jury's wake!"

"Transfer all power from non-essential systems to the sheilds!"

"Yes Captain"

Or we'll respond as we should. It's a Cavaleran ship, correct?" The crewmember nodded and the shipmasters grin grew wider.

It opend fire, Plasma-rays, light and heavy lanced out towards the ship from its disks, a barrage of five plasma torpedoes and three plasma charged nukes wained towards them.

Bridge of the 'Hwelpian'

Picket Class Warships are known for only two things, their extreme speed and their ridicoulusly small size. As soon as Captain Erkenbrand saw the incoming torpedoes and the three plasma charged nukes screaming towards his ship he gave the order to put the engines at full thrust ahead. The 'Hwelpian' moved towards the torpedoes and nukes and began firing her forward lances at the torpedoes. Four exploded instantly, the fifth was destroyed by its own sympathy explosion. The A.I. of the nukes that were following up behind the torpedoes were confused by the explosions and decided that was the perfect time to detonate themselves.

Captain Erkenbrand looked happily at the remaining debris, the little there was. He ordered his navigational officer to continue on the present course towards the 'Odyssey'. His gunnery officers began to fire at the engines and bridge of the opposing ship. Although the 'Hwelpian' probably wouldnt damage the 'Odyssey', they would at least notice that they were there. Erkenbrand gave a quick nod to Comms-Officer Bauer to hail the 'Iter Formator', the 'Proud Mary' and the 'Serpent's Wake'.

IC:

It was when a small Asteroid passed through the hull without touching it, only to smash his favorite tea cup next to his chair that Captain Tiller decided to show the Asteroids the concepts behind a Warhaven Warship.

"Full Stop, Bring us out of Distortion, but on the Nose and RAM our way through this field." Captain Tiller said.

The Ship stopped dead in its tracks. Energy crackled along its surface, as Plating appeared on its hull, like special Armor. Light flickered at the prow, where a dip in the front expanded outward, and developed into a surrated nose. Then the ship accellereated forward, going into near lightspeed.

This was a ramming attack, employed by the Warhaven Military as a surprise against especially unruly enemies. It did not deviate from its course in the slightest, going straight as an arrow, it would not do so, even if an especially large Asteroid got in the way, and if one did, it would plow right through it.

The ambassador was met by two Swarmite guards, there wasp like bodys buzzed, they were the first line of security, they each were armed with Plasma-ray pistols, which were set on stun at the moment. Rok'atu was led through the chrome passageways, light blue light lit the hallways dimly. He passed Alliance marines and various other Alliance races that were busy at work. He was now on the bridge with the Captain, who turned and held out a hand " Hello, I am captain Jackson of the Alliance ship "Odyssey",welcome aboard" the -2 degree didnt effect the captain who was just wearing a dress suit, for he was not really human.

Upon recieving the message from the 'Serpent's Wake' Ensign Camandel ordered his ships to fire at the 'Odyssey'. Eight tactical nukes were launched at the 'Odyssey'. Sixteen seperate Lancer Batteries fired, literally thousands of Trebuchet Class Missiles were fired. Two dozen Fighter Screens took off from the launch decks, ready to take on enemy fighters. The full power of the 'Proud Mary' was unleashed on the enemy ship. And the 'Proud Mary' was not alone. It stood side by side with the Destroyer 'The Ankle Biter', the Destroyer 'Caelum Frendo', the twin Corvettes 'Patton's Folly' and 'Patton's Wrath', the Corvette 'Vast Detrimentum', the Corvette 'Abyssus Canis' and half a dozen Picket Class Warships. On the bridge, they had noticed something bad was going on. The senors were detecting a firefight going on, and the aggressor was supposedly a non aggressor.

" Reverse course and charge weapon emitters. It looks like we have a firefight going on. The aggressor is the same race who have an officer on board the ship, beam the captain out of there NOW!"

A Transporter beamed the captain away right in the middle of the conversation.

Suddenly the 1st officer came over the loud speaker, as the doors were locked and containment forcefields came up around the floors walls and ceilings, gravity was shut off.

" You will be destroyed, you and your pitiful alliance. "

" We're in range sir, it looks like several other ships are firing on them as well! Should we fire? " The captain ordered the ship to fire a short burst. Which should disable them.

It began to move closer to the Odyssey, keeping out of direct teleportation range (if they had one. Better safe than sorry.) eventually reaching a position where they could broadside the ship. Marines began loading up on weapons. Humans, Sanghelli, Gorn and Turians. Large pointed tubes were being prepared for the marines. Soon, fully loaded and ready, they boarded the tubes.

The Jury was really taking a pounding. A loud crash and a violent lurge to the side signified the sheilds had failed. Now the asteroids were damaging the hull.

"30 seconds until hull collapse!" Screamed a mole on the bridge. However, their luck suddenly changed. Within seconds, they found themselves out of the field

"Damage report, commander!" Screamed Admiral Clark

A voice responded, 'Sir, Hull integrity is down to 70%. Sheilds, hyperdrive and multiple minor systems are offline. We also have reports of minor hull breaches and some light injuries!'

"Very good. Begin repairs immediately!"

'Yes sir!'

---------------------------

Close behind the Jury was the Flagship

'Sir! We've made it through. Sheilds are holding at 42%'

"What about the Jury?"

'They have recieved minor hull damaged, their shields are down to'

The Captain looked out of the window of the bridge. Dead ahead of him was a dry, arid and white planet.

"As I suspected. Scan that planet!"

'Aye sir. Scan now.'

The bridge was consumed by humming of instruments as they recieved data

'We have detected two energy sources - one significantly stronger than the other. One is...' His voice trailed off

"Is there a problem commander?"

'Yes sir - a energy signal has just whited out our sensors - we can't see anything!'

"Whited out?"

'Yes sir. They are sending out a signal that makes all our sensors useless - we can't see what's 2 feet away let alone 2 lightyears now!'

"Open communications with the Jury. See if they have the same problem!"

Somewhere nearby, was the Warhaven ship - However with sensors whited out and everyone looking towards the planet, nobody saw it.

OOC: Sorry ECF, looks like I made it through anyway. Feel free to come join us anyway though.
IC:Captain Tiller took down the Nose, but left the plating up.
"So, it looks like we made it. You folks alright?" he asked the two Mole ships.

Meanwhile, he scanned the world. It was an intresting subject to note, that the scanners were used on the same systems as the V-Ray, and thus were defended from most attempts to block them or white them out, because The V-Ray sapped energy, and if something were used against the scanners, then it was easy to piggyback the V-Ray in the scans and sap whatever energy was used to block them, or white them out.
The V-Ray itself was not a lethal attack, infact it was non-lethal, because it took only energy. Certainly there could be circumstances to the contrary, but more often than not, it was non-lethal.

So, Captain Tiller got the two energy sources, and when the one whitted out his sensors, before he could even think to stop it, The sensors automaticly piggy-backed the V-ray at the offending source, sapping its energy. This energy did not go back to The Doomknight, it just disapated into the surrounding area. Meanwhile the purple colored V-ray was quickly cut, and Captain Tiller prepared to apologise to someone on the world below, and explain what happened.

Its purple in color, and it saps the energy of a target ship, or in this case, world. We will stop firing upon the enemy ship ('Odyssey') immediatly, but will keep our weapons armed. The situation onboard the 'Odyssey' is this; the enemy Captain attacked the ambassoder of the Templar ship 'Serpent's Wake'. The Commander of the 'Serpent's Wake' contacted us and told us about the situation. They gave us permission to fire and cripple the 'Odyssey'. We are now arming to board the enemy ship. We ask that you help us in this endevour, if you wish not to, simply say so, no harm done. As soon as we are done dealing with this enemy ship, we will assist the Moles in discovering what is at the heart of the asteroid field.

"All batteries, cease fire. Ion strike them." The laser bolts suddenly changed to ion bolts, aiming to disable 100% of their ship. The Duskfall suddenly stopped fire.
"Get ready to board on my signal. Capture their captain. Bring him here so he can face justice. And..." The shipmaster sighed. "And toast Rok'atu."

OCC: Inside tempature is -2 degrees, and yes we can beam.

Swarmites, Terranians, Calaverian and Balderian Alliance Marines charged there plasma-ray rifles to "Vaporize", as they forified the ship, three massive Terranians walked around the ship, with a constant fire plasma-ray cannon at its side, it grunted as it walked. The lights on the ship were shut off, what could be seen were the blue lights of combat goggles of the Alliance. They awaited there arrival.

OCC: the Balderians are basically a copy of the Gorn that look a bit different, and different equipment. and no exterior bridge.

The darkness on board the ship was light up as streams of plasma-rays flew through out the the ship. Pieces of the ship were hit and split and cracked hissing from impact. The Imitators were a elusive bunch, firing carefully around a corner retreating, somtimes charging after pretending to fall back. A couple bio-nades could be heard rolling down hallways( Bio-nade contains infector cells).

Fighter Bay of the 'Proud Mary'

Drop-pods were being loaded with marines and combatbots. The combatbots would be used as shock troops, the marines as clean up crew. The soldiers would also be assisted by marines from the 'Serpent's Wake'. Captain Tybalt of the 'Proud Mary' would personally lead the boarding crews. He hoped that the sheer number of his soldiers would overwhelm the enemy.

The plan was this, the fighters would make three bombing runs on the enemy ship, then the drop-pods would be launched, targeting the bridge, life support systems and other critical areas. The combatbots would be used as shock troops and would attempt to overrun the enemy. The marines would come in and kill any survivors. The combatbots were programmed to move in on the captain of the ship, capture him and secure the sorounding area. The marines would secure a landing zone in one of the loading bays of the ship and call in a fighter lift to take the captain to the Templar ship 'Serpent's Wake'. The commander of the 'Serpent's Wake' could do whatever he liked with the monster. Kill him, I hope, thought Tybalt.

"Go!" The tubes shot out from the sides of the Duskfall and slammed into the Odyssey. Four different tubes.

"Go!" The humans threw a flash out of their pod, then leapt out and opened fire with their Spikers. One attached limpet charges around the lip of the pod.
"They're set, go, go, go!" Firing, the marines fled backwards out of the corridor. "Maglock the boots!" All the marines pressed a small button of their armor which gave the boots magnetic force. Then, one of the marines pressed the detonator.

Onboard the Serpent's Wake...
The captain started at the egg. It was a scaly egg, brownish-green in color. Inside was a new species, apparently unintelligent, a hive-mind run species. And parasitic. This should be an ironic death.

Two Calaverians were hit and went down, squeeming and screaming in an a errie high pitch. IC: "Visors up!" The human's visor's swept up, sealing their armor from the outside air. The marine at the back bumped into something and turned.
"Ah shit, Sir! Damn doors jammed!" The lead marine sniffed.
"Should be intresting."

The Sanghelli pod smashed into the Odyssey, and the marines stepped out. Firing plasma cannons and wearing heavy armor, the Sanghelli were the heavy troopers on the ship.

The Gorn pod hit soon after, and the marine stepped out. Roaring, they charged towards the enemy. They wore only light armor, but they were armed with vibroblades, capable of slicing through armor. They were the berserkers.

The heavy troopers that had entered cause almost immediate havok, there plasma connons impact seven Calaverians and Swarmites sending them flying, but was replied by barrage plasma-rays, the heavy armor resisted the hits but was still rather effective. The Gorn that had charged were met by Balderian Plasma-ray as they got on there knees and fired prone at the charging enemy.

Combat Zone near the ship 'Odyssey'

As the last attack run of fighters flew away (they had left some damn big holes), the drop-pods were launched at the 'Odyssey'. Dozens of drop-ships crossed the void between the 'Odyssey' and Task Force Beta. Upon crashing into the ship, they drilled into the 'Odyssey', puncturing the hull.

Inside the 'Odyssey', near point 1b-22

As soon as the bay doors opened, the combatbots rolled out. Rushing enemy positions, the bots brutally began to dismember and destroy the crew. Each bot had two crushclaws, a set of flechette blasters, four underslung missilepods and a set of drillbots, tiny little robots that could be deployed to scout out airducts, waterpipes and other small, inacsessable places. Their large, oversized crushclaws could tear a man in half. Their flechette blasters were known for there ability to put holes in tank armor. Their missilepods were used as mainly as a way to harrass the enemy. Moving rapidly through the crew, the combatbots were quickly moving in towards the bridge.

As The Mini-knight 1 went through the atmosphere, its shield faired similarly.

"You don't think they were unlucky enough to crashland did you?" asked Captain Tiller.
"No." said The second officer.
"I wonder what happened then." The captain asked.
"I'm sure the moles landed just fine." The second officer said.
"I was talking about the piles of debris that look awfully similar to ships littering the surface below." Captain tiller said.
"Them? Who knows. Maybe they were unlucky enough to fight each other and ended up dying instead.

The ship landed safely not too far from the Mole shuttle.

Captain Tiller was the first to exit. He wore a Dark Blue uniform with a gold Lapel pin shaped like a star. He had Black hair that was begining to grey, brown eyes, and seemed sure of himself.

His second officer was a Woman, wearing a similar uniform, only with a dress, instead of pants. Her hair and her eyes were green, and she visibly radiated a similar colored energy. She had Black Flat Boots on, and her nails were painted blue. She wore pink lipstick, but seemed remarkably cold and distant. She wore no Lapels of anykind.

Next came a sight, for three identical creatures possessed of four remarkably bulky arms emerged from the craft. The creatures had small heads, and seemed increadibly strong, without the powersuits. Their eyes held no spark of intelligence of anykind. Infact, one wondered if they were actually machines.

Following them were three white Octopus looking creatures, in brown Space suits completly filled with water. Their eyes belied their great intelligence, but were clearly very physically weak.

They grappled the Strong creatures, and climbed on their backs. The four armed creatures didn't seem to even register their presence.

"Greetings, I am Captain Roto Tiller, it is a pleasure to meet you in person." The Man said stepping forward.
"May I introduce my second officer, and wife, Sylvia, The Four armed creatures are known as Gareens, and possess no intelligence of any kind whatsoever, lacking even the base intelligence of wild creatures. They wear Psionic Collars for our protection, for their miniscule brains are wired to attack anything and everything without exception. On their backs are their keepers, The Aquamarinians, who use them to transport themselves around." Captain Tiller said.

"Indeed, we propose we start with the nearest Energy source, which based on our landing coordinates versus location of the two known sources, would be that direction." Said Bob, the Middle Aquamarinian and chief of science, pointing off in a direction with a tenticle. Clearly the intelligience Aquamarinians possessed was astronomical. There hadn't been any signs of computers, pens, pencils, or papers of any kind to assist them with the complicated math it took to deduce such things on a foreign world.

The figures lurched forward slowly.

"Stop! Identify yourself!"

The figures groaned, but still advanced

"Looks like we can't kill them..."

Tiller smiled, as the Gareens were again dismounted.

Letting loose with a bloody roar, the three creatures rushed the five creatures, and proceeded to do their very best to rip them limb from Limb, and even remove their heads. Again, Gareens had enourmous strength, able to lift multiple tons in their powersuits with relative ease.

"I just hope that works" As he spoke he gestured towards the horizon. At least 20 more of these creatures were approaching them.

"I think maybe we should try and avoid them - after all, it's not like they are armed?"

The Aquamarinians visably concentrated their stare at the Gareens, and the air shimmered between them. Something seemed to happen, and the Gareens walked back over calm as could be, picked up the Aquamarinians, and continued to walk on, doing their best to avoid the space zombies.

The group continued on their journey, followed by a crowd of these - creatures, at least 100 strong now - towards the energy source

"We are only 5 minutes away now."

As the commander spoke, several energy bolts shot over the heads of the group. 10 more 'zombies' had appeared. The strange growths on them made them look exactly the same... and they were armed.

"Take cover!" The commander screamed, closely followed by the others. As they took cover, the Moles opened fire on the zombies. As the rounds hit, they rocked in pain - but did not fall.

The Gareens leapt into the crowd with a look of bloody glee, and set to ripping and tearing and using their massive strength to rip the zombie hord limb from limb.

Meanwhile, The Aquamarinians re-ectivated their hive mind, and levitated themselves along.

Despite being much stronger than normal creatures, these 'zombies' were strong to. Although the Gareens had a huge advantage, they found these guys tough going, and the zombies bashed them with their arms with shocking power back.

The commander resonded to Tiller, "I agree. The longer we stay still, the more of these freaks we will attract." He pointed to a cave a short distance away, "That's our destination. Lets move."

As the group jumped up and moved, one of the Moles was too slow and was suddenly set upon by the crowd of creatures that had been behind them. His screams of pain were muffledb by groans from the Zombies. It was over in seconds, as the zombies turned round and pursued the group

"Damn it!" Yelled the commander. He gunned down a few of the zombies in anger, before giving up and joining the others.

Gareens were very tough indeed, but in the end, still only mortal, and after several minutes of superhuman punching, ripping, and tearing, they too succombed to these abominations.

The group moved away, with the creatures in... 'pursuit' as they entered the cave, the inside was of metalic construction. Near the entrance was a control panel

"Looks door controls. Cover me while I attempt to over-ride them!" He began to tap the buttons, as the 4 remaining soliders took up positions to protect him from the advancing hordes. Most of them staggered forwards and had no weapons. A few were armed and were firing their weapons towards the cave. With each shot thet were getting closer to the mark.

Oh yes, don't let the scientists look at the alien controls, I mean Gods forbid someone qualified actually does the job.

The thoughts rolled through the minds of the mini-hive, and then with the same force that they used to levitate themselves around, they erected a shield, that shimmered in the air all accross the cave mouth, but not in the way of any closing doors. A few shots hit the shield, and the shield sizzled as the shots hit the shimmering air.

"We can't keep this up forever." Bob said simply.

"That should hold them!" Declared Commander Stewert triumphantly.

"Ok, lets take a look around here. The energy source is coming from here."

The group walked into the next room, it was dimly lit. However, there was a loud hum of some sort of equipment working. As the group spread out, a monitor lit up and showed a creature - resembling the zombies although the growths covered its entire body. It spoke.

"Greetings intruders. I hope you are ready to join us."

No, actually, we were looking for a way to leave the Asteroid belt and thought the answer might lie on this world. Captain Tiller smiled. This thing had failed, made a major error. He had little less than five minutes to contact the ship. He wouldn't even try. After Five minutes, this world was as good as destroyed, because due to Article 36 of the Standard rules of Space Navigation as set forth by the Department of Internal Security, any captain had only twenty minutes to Report back in on a mission, and unless he had rekoned time wrong, only about 15 mintues had passed, and then after the deadline, he wouldn't be captain anymore, unless he passed a battery of tests on the homeworld, he wouldn't be permitted near any sensitive information, and would be treated as an enemy until he got home, which meant if he was converted, The Doomknight would destroy this world, and everything on it within the hour.

If worse came to worse, Doomknight would self-destruct, and take this entire system with it, such was the strength and power of their self-destruct.

But surely things wouldn't get that far.

Tiller sighed, and unholstered his energy pistol.

"Let us go, or we're going to kill you." Tiller said. There was no ounce of fear, no concept of possibly being wrong.

Sylvia drew her arms, and the Aquamarinians drew small arms out of pockets on their wetsuits.

The creature on the communication screen smiled again. "I suppose you think the destruction of your ship will 'destroy us'. Here's secret number 2 - we have prepared for this outcome. "Us Mortians predict everything. Your large ship - A Mole Class destroyer you called it? We damaged it's sheilds so it was convertible."

"Us Moles shall never join you!"

"Oh, but you will. For you see, I was once a mole myself..."

"Impossible! No moles have ever been here!"

"During war, a ship here and there disappearing can go unnoticed - especially when your enemy is the kernuts..."

"Good Lord! That war was decades ago!"

"Indeed. Don't worry - my semi-converted brethren will join you shortly - The door is almost open. Bye!"

With that the screen switched off. Whilst the others had been absorbed in the conversation, Commander Stewert was looking in a corner. He could see a large machine - connected to many power plants underground. It was protected by a powerful forcefield.

"What have you found?" Enquired the Captain, noticing his commanders activities

"Scans indicate this is the machine we were looking for - This thing is what is trapping us here, and control the asteroids, and emitting the sensor white out."

"I see - Is the forcefield weak enough to break through"

"If we had the right tools, maybe"

"Then we must get back to the shuttle - armed with this new information we could escape here alive!"

OOC: I'm not saying that's what I'm planning on, just that those were the thoughts in Tiller's mind. Also, Doomknight need not target anyone, or anything, nor would it explode, It would implode. However, I wasn't really planning on loosing an expensive ship anytime soon either.

OOC: Well, that takes care of that, I was going to suggust using the V-ray to simply sap the energy of that place. With no energy it would obviously have to deactivate, and we'd be free. But I have another Idea now I'll relay ICly.

IC:

"We can't rely on the Aquamarinians this time around, their all too weary, but this is a Warship, and it just so happens to be chock full of ground troops. We could use the Mass Teleporter, a special Teleporter designed for teleporting large numbers of troops at once, and teleport our ground troops down to the surface to hack and slash our way past those, whatever they were. Of course, we can't do it alone, it would be done in conjunction with whatever method you devised for getting us there, but all the same, we need a few hours to create a hand-held portable version of our ships V-ray, a weapon used for sapping and destroying energy. That'll get us past the shields alright, and Bob assures me he can figure out that machine quick like." Tiller Replied.

"Alright, but still, we need a few hours to make that portable V-ray." Tiller replied.

30 minutes later...

"Success!" a human scientist and engineer cried out as she raised the bortable V-ray in the air like a trophy.

She set up a forcefield, and fired the V-ray. The purple beam did indeed drain the forcefield's energy, but at the same time, the scientist slumped over in her chair and fell asleep.

"Product needs shielding to protect from effects." Bob commented.

An hour after that....

as the human scintist continued to snore away in her chair, Bob completed the prototype second generation V-ray, this one was larger, because it needed shielding. A gareen was chosen to fire it, and as the Gareen did, the V-ray blew up, taking the Gareen with it.

"Shielding model appears to interfer with the normal operation of the V-ray. Suggust modifying the shielding, possibly enhancing the power output of the V-ray." Bob said. at that point, the sleeping scientist who made the first model let out a particularly loud snore.
"Someone take her to her room." Bob said.

An hour and a half later, three hours total after returning to the ship...

A Cannon that took three Gareens to move was completed. It was a portable V-ray. It was properly shielded to prevent non-targets from being effected, and its power was strong enough to quickly take out the energy of its target.

"This is the Doomknight to Flagship, we're ready!" Tiller said over the communications channel.

Well....

All the other posters were fighting North Calveras who decided he wanted nothing more than to assimilate everyone into his nation, and everyone else liking their non-assimilated freedom as they do, decided it was better to erase NC from the spot he occupied in the belt. Then appearently they lost intrest or got too involved with other things, because they haven't posted recently.

Meanwhile, Mole and I took off through the belt and punched through to the otherside where we found this big world with two massive energy sources. We touched down on the world fought our way past a horde of space zombies, and learned this whole thing was a trap to assimilate all of us into Mortians, and the zombies chasing us down were actually our friendly neighborhood half-assimilated Mortians who really wanted us to move in on a permanente basis, but Mole and I weren't having any of that so we forced our way back to our ships were we fleed back to our respective mother ships and came up with a half-baked plan to force our way back to the energy source to manipulate the machine that's been trapping us here so that we at least could escape back to our homelands so we could alert our governments to the true nature of this place so that if we ever saw it again we could destroy it from a distance. *takes deep breath*
And that in a nutshell is what's been happening so far.

"That's excellant news. Our Assualt force is ready to launch"

Commander Stewert approached his Captain. "Sir, I want to go down there!"

"No. Too risky. The Robotic units can handle it"

"I think I can help organise them!"

Captain Gear pondered for a moment. "Alright. But becareful!"

The commander ran to join the Assault force

Moments later, the assault transport launched. It lurked around the Doomknight, waiting for the Warhavenian force

They didn't have long to wait. What came from The Doomknight looked like a really big box, and was unmarked. It had a point defence system too, and it came with shields. It seemed to fall to the planet like a brick, but landed gently on the surface in the exact same spot The Mini-knight had been. The front opened up, and out came Six Gareens in completly sealed powersuits. Nothing from the outside environment could get in. Three carried the portable V-ray, three carried Bob and his two best aids in completly sealed Aquatic Suits. Seeing the robotic troops, The Aquamarinians shielded only the ten organic troops, counting Commander Stewart. The Gareens followed the Robotic troops.

OOC: Indeed, we could rewind and do a snippet where you come in as I'm developing the portable V-ray, I mean, that's three hours of us just sitting around doing nothing, and then over the course of an IC discussion decide you get to support Mole in his efforts to protect me as I send in my three brightest people (that are here in the belt) to "persuede" the machine into letting us go.

That seems the easiest and most viable path. It would provide a chance for you and Void Templar, if he so desired, to jump in at the present point of the main RP. Casemates across the ship opened, revealing the wide array of weapons at the corvette's disposal. Mjollnir linear cannons and large-bore Gauss guns came to life, missile pods opened and their protective coverings unfolded. Inside the primary hull, the large Cherry Blossom charged, the Protoculture furnaces supplying vast amounts of energy to the cannon.

"Go ahead and launch the two fighters we had on standby, and inform the Vanir to do the same. Get a Dark Eye into the air."

Badgiruel went about carrying out the orders. As the Vogel was stood down, its place on the catapult was taken by an equally-sized E-5 Dark Eye AWACS. And then its running lights came into being, viewing ports opened, and Doomknight appeared to come back to life.

"Whew, sorry about that folks, a "mishap" during testing, forced a complete external shut down. All we had was life support. It looks like we have two new arrivals, its a pleasure to see you made it. "Blow it up? no we weren't going to blow it up, just steal its energy. We're following the same idea, only on a lesser scale, draining just enough energy from the forcefields to allow Bob and his two most intelligent aids to slip through and modify the machine, to spit us out, if not in our individual spaces, than in at least somewhere where we can all go home. Also, they plan on further modifying it, to prevent anyone from ever falling into the Mortian trap again. But in order for them to modify the machine, we still have to get through the field, and that's why we have the protable V-Ray we finished making. Bob, his two assistants, and six Gareens are going to take it down there, but we still need some assistance keeping those abominations from assimilating us into Mortians.
