Vilikiy

JUNEAU, ALASKA - Following nearly a month of anarchy in much of rural Vilikiy that seriously affected the lives of 56% of the population, the government has finally re-established order. The unrest began following the massacre of nearly 100,000 citizens by the Communist Regime in Tatom. A mass flood of refugees flowed into the neighboring Minarchist Republic of Vilikiy which espouses an open border policy. Racial and political tensions quickly erupted and escalated out of control until urban areas were placed under martial law and war broke out with the Communist Regime in Tatom.
"A few good things have come out of this crisis." comments Juneau resident William Wu. "A lot of crime organizations came out of the shadows to lay claim to the splintering country and were subsequently crushed in open conflict after their short reign was ended by the National Militia. Additionally, the army took Vancouver and won the first major war since its birth, securing a lot of territory in the process."
The momentous National Militia, Vilikiy's primary military branch for Land Forces, has recently declared war on another neighbor across the Bering Straight, the Katovian Confederation which has been publicly criticizing Vilikiy's social inequities and its 'inability to protect its citizens,' referring to its recent bout of Anarchy.
"We have substantial evidence that the Katovian Confederation has been stepping up its official criticism of our government as a build-up for their own causus belli." claims the Vilikiyan Declaration "In our darkest hour since our struggle for independence, during a time of unfortunate anarchy and unrest, the Katovians began troop movements to our border west of Vladivostok. They began stepping up border skirmishes and becoming very active in putting political pressure on Vilikiy so as to justify attacking a weak country in strife. This proud country has overcome the challenges that it was presented with, much to the chagrin of the belligerent dictator in Northern Manchuria."
The veterans fresh from the sieges on Seattle and Vancouver are expected to perform well against the conscript army of Katovia as they move slowly into the edges of the vast and empty steppes of Asia.
