Corporate owned TV has shown us that the amount of money behind a show tends to run inverse to it's sophistication. Hence, it should come as no surprise that a government, such as that of North Calaveras, and it's far more massive cash wads would produce something as blatantly stupid as their newest show, Brutal Championship Wrestling.

Advertised as the newest in bloodsport, where "all weapons are real and contestants can be killed in the process," BCW features all the trappings of your usual substandard prize fight, with the meagre addition of a variety of weapons. Even the poorly dressed and unoriginally named participants are virtually identical to other offerings. The main draw of their show, the promise of fatalities, is still overshadowed by their competitors, with the current seasons of Urban Brawl, Berserk, and Combat Biking being far more interesting, and offering just as much (if not more) blood. Other international features, from societies such as MassPwnage, Doomingsland, and the VaultTec enclaves, also provide a far less pedestrian option.

I've had the opportunity to watch the pilot of the show via the wonders of the internet (Nielson ratings of the premier have thus far prevented Otagian stations, network or otherwise, from picking up the series), and was not particularly impressed. Barring grandstanding, advertisements, and rather poor commentary, the fight itself lasted for less than five minutes, as long as a single round of Berserk or Urban Brawl.

In summation, while this show is unlikely to ever appear on any Otagian's television, it's worth steering clear of, even for bloodsport aficionados.
